André Rosario (aka HydroponicTrash) joins us this week on the podcast to tell Ariel all about dual power - what it is, how it fits in with solarpunk, and how people can mobilize it in their daily lives. Their conversation ranges from the history of the term dual power, to examples from André’s own life, to the concept of mutual aid, the importance of imagining a better world, how to build relationships as an introvert, and even includes a discussion of human nature.

Yeah yeah TNT trap but one bit of the stream that absolutely fascinated me was the neighbours solidarity between Ren Iskall and Beef. Ren and Beef freaking out over Iskall running back and targeting False if they ever let sight of him. Ren's brain having dived into a "it's us against them" mentality and being anxious around the mountain people because of course he does that, it’s his favourite hermit’s life on the line. Of course he would see as some sort of war even though nothing happened. Ren naming their voice chat group something boring and nondescript like “neighbourhood planning” so no one would join. He’s both still Ministering and keeping up with the theatrics by pretending to be in a so painfully boring meeting. Neighbourhood mafia boys trying to kill Bdubs (for False). Iskall being like lmao you guys are stupid. Lol. Anyways.
And it was so funny how when the trap was done, they were like ahhaha lol see you guys later. Or never. We never knew each other.
AND THEN BDUBS LOGGED ON.
Which naturally freaked everyone out. And what was fucking funny is that other people like Grian, Joe, and Hypno were online and aware of the scheme. They even made references to it in chat. Grian and Joe at least were watching Ren’s stream, because of course he was streaming a top secret operation (and Beef later was like WHY ARE YOU EVEN STREAMING and Ren was like 🥺 this is why I’m a bad reaper). But I don’t think anyone snitched. Everyone acted normal, if not nosy.
The part of the stream that charmed me and gave everyone the impression of “oh, we’re REALLY in it now” was when Ren was alone in his Gigahut and someone whispered to him about Bdubs being on. And those three neighbourhood members met up in Ren’s hut and just sat there panicking and talking about Bdubs. It was so tense. They were the image of three scared whimpering people huddled together on a sofa in the relative safety of their neighbourhood (far away from Bdubs’ trap). (On a side note, I’m always glad when builds are somehow the backdrop for dramatic and tense moments because the build instantly feels lived in and the space feels used. Like there’s a core memory attached to the build now.)
And in the end, they decided to venture out to spy on Bdubs. Which they did for an hour. With spyglasses and crouching. And Ren, good old Ren, was pushed centerstage because he was the second reaper to ever exist and still hadn’t gotten a kill AND he was dead set on supporting his False, and since it was the final two, Bdubs has to go.
Watching the hermitchat go by while those three were intensely studying Bdubs like a nature documentary was hilarious. Seemingly nondescript discussions. The trio panicking and then Grian sent out “have faith”, which might be in reference to G’s own fishing thing but the trio took it as a double message for their own plan (since G was watching the stream). All the whispering. It’s killing me. And False logging on, mostly unprotected (because they were all away!!) and Cleo being like yayy I have no allegiance to False I’ll blow up whatever <3 And False saying she needed a miracle and those three were like WE ARE TRYINGGG (False was aware the three were trapping). Ren’s refusal to say something in chat because he’s a red name and he’s tense.
Ren had to be the one to activate the trap (even though Beef was the one who suggested it and Iskall laid out the redstone). SO the other two had to leave him alone while they engaged Bdubs in discussion so Ren could sneak in and blow them up. Our poor reaper had to fly solo with 2.9k people on his stream. “It’s just you and me, chat”. He’s sat there for three hours. He’s missing dinner.
AND BEEF YELLING AT REN TO ACTIVATE THE TRAP WAS SO STRESSFUL. Even when the ruse was up, and even when Beef and Iskall were like hahaha Ren you SUCK so bad, Ren continued with his last shred of hope and absolute last shred of dignity. He lied. And Beef was probably like 👀 Ren hasn’t given up yet! Gotta distract Bdubs more!
Tumblr media
I haven’t watched much Beef before this but now I’m quite charmed with him. He’s great with improv, fucking hilarious to bounce off with, and kept calm and steady throughout the operation. I love how him and Iskall had to hold Ren back from charging in like a madman and blowing himself up because doggy self sacrificial tendencies. Beef was the brains and common sense. And I love how supportive he was of Ren the entire time.
🥺 Beefrenskall. The trappers. The neighbours. Flying high their banner for False. Wanting to be a miracle for her. 🥺🥺🥺

Kantina Matak, the vibrant presidential cafe serving up 500 free meals a day to neighbourhood kids in Timor Leste’s capital, Dili, is characteristically lively when I sit down for lunch with Bella Galhos. It is a liveliness matched by Galhos, 51 and with an aura that draws you in.
Only three when Indonesia invaded, Galhos was exposed to the violence of the military from an early age, and it was in her teenage years she situated this violence in its broader political context — leading her down a path of activism. A survivor of the Santa Cruz massacre in November 1991, she hatched a plan of escape, and via an exchange program in Canada she relocated — beginning a tireless five-year solidarity building campaign.
In Canada, Bella’s personal experiences served as a testimony emblematic of life under Indonesian occupation in Timor-Leste. A compelling and charismatic speaker, she became a potent symbol within and of the international solidarity movement, connecting and inspiring a wide network.
Amongst her initiatives since returning in 1999, following independence, are the Leubrora Green School in Maubisse that teaches children sustainable agricultural practices and good nutrition, a women’s cooperative farming group and flower garden, and the Kantina Matak where we are sitting, employing and serving as a safe space for LGBT community members. She is serving her second term as presidential advisor, this time to Jose Ramos Horta — a role she loves, and describes as “a bridge between the people and the president”.
Her organisation Arcoiris (Rainbow) Timor-Leste offers shelter for members suffering violent situations, a place that “stands and defends the rights of the LGBT community in Timor-Leste”.
“Not only do they need the shelter, but also they want to feel secure. So, whenever they come to my compound, they feel secure. By giving the people a chance, opportunity and resources without looking at who they are.”
With first-hand experience, Bella is well-situated for this work; “one of my struggles was recognising who I am”.
“When I came out it was a process of being vilified over and over again, falling down on my knees … I was meant to be a minister in the government but because of my sexual orientation I was removed. My own family, my own brothers have tried to kill me … but it hasn’t stopped me.
“Young LGBT that I help care for are struggling to be accepted, loved, cared, protected, or invested in by their own family …They experience hardship, physical abuses, sexual abuses, abandonment, they drop out from school because they cannot handle the bullies, not only by their classmates, but also by their teachers who are not understanding and have no background whatsoever or no knowledge of what LGBT is. I think people really justify their homophobia and action against LGBT people by coming out with their own theory saying: Why you turn yourself to be this? Why can’t you just be a normal woman? Why can’t you just be a normal man? Why are you against God's will?”
Bella identifies the Catholic Church as a powerful institution perpetuating patriarchal ideals, and she makes a point of their hypocrisy.
“Why can’t we talk about priests who abuse children in convents, or uncles, fathers and brothers who ruin their own family? Instead you choose to talk about LGBT.”
In a country that is 98% Catholic, where churches dot the hills and priests hold prominent sway, being an LGBT activist is hard. “I risk a lot for saying what I say and doing what I do. But I always believe that a struggle, any struggle, whatever it is, whatever time it is or where it is, somebody needs to start it.
“Being an activist is a privilege, and it is my responsibility of speaking out for others.”
Inevitably, this has drawn the ire of the church, Bella tells me. “One time there was a huge public letter coming out from the Church about me because they know I was the one that was the voice of dissent. They claimed [in the letter] that [they] supported the LGBT community, [and] are only against [people choosing their] sexual orientation.”
There is a challenge in the tension; both staunch public activist and sensitive individual, caring deeply about others.
“The way people look at you, [you] already know that you do not belong there … I am always ready to be crushed and screened out … I fight my way forward even though sometimes it’s hard.”
Laughter comes easy around Bella, and her answers are splashed with colourful anecdotes and allegories. Asked what progress has been made 24 years on from the vote for independence, she likens the government to getting ready for a party where “you don't know which clothes to put on first. If you want to put your pants on first or your underwear. So I think that's what we need to be putting in place, things in sequences, you know, we should not go to the sky first, start with the earth.
“We cannot keep on using the excuse ‘new country’ as a way of saying it's okay to make mistakes … We cannot keep running the country by just turning on our Petroleum Fund. That is for me very worrying.”
“More than 20 years putting money into all these key sectors but we have not seen the results, we need to see the result and if the result is not seen it means that we are wrong in how we are investing it … we are already getting at least two or three generations that almost have no future to hold on to and most of them are already taking off and the younger ones are also hoping to get out and that's not a good sense of staying in the country to feel and to see what is going on here.”
The valorisation of veterans in a country where resistance leaders are constitutionally enshrined as “national heroes” often comes at the cost of everyday people in the sharing of power.
“Today we are still talking about veterans, all about veterans. Basically the country's owned by the veterans and the veterans are putting all the money into the older people and we forgot to bring money to the younger people, the future of the country, the future leaders of the country, and that’s worrying.”
It’s a dynamic that means the same faces have been in power since independence, and Bella references corruption as a feature of this ruling elite. Timor-Leste rated, in 2022, as having the highest hunger and malnutrition in Southeast Asia, according the global hunger index — a statistic that sits oddly with the US$19 billion sitting in Timor’s Petroleum Fund.
“Development is going at a snail’s pace because the government is too busy distributing power among people who actually don’t have the ability to work or serve the public. These people claim, ‘I did this, I did that, I lost my family, I was with you, I suffered the most, so I deserve to be a minister.’ It’s still like that.
“We are still pleasing each other by providing each other jobs — you know, to make people happy, make followers happy. And the majority of people are suffering because this is not what they were promised when campaigning is taking place.”
Bella believes a possible pathway forward would allow the mixing of “the younger generation into the process of developing the country”.
“Over 60% [of the population] is young. They should be prioritised. They should be dignified. By giving them space, their voice should be heard, should be counted.”
This sort of people-driven participatory philosophy underpins Bella’s outlook: “The priority, the centre of all development should be people, people, people and people means you don't see the classes that you don't see the categories; it’s the people. And first you have to get them involved, not just use them when you need the vote but [so that] their voices can actually be heard and counted in the program.”
What next for Bella? Energetic, with a life loaded with experiences, maybe a presidential run? “Winning or not, I don’t care. I just want to challenge the norms.”

Oftentimes, you’ll hear the point made that Social Democracy is the moderate wing of the capitalist onslaught against humanity (or more colloquially, Fascism). Typically, you elect a Social Democrat and the problems aren’t solved, but the symptoms are moderated, and that means fewer people overall die. At the same time, people, especially those who pay attention to politics, become incredibly complacent and even unforgiving of those who point this out. There’s a vehement reaction (Blueanon) against those who point out popular Democratic politicians are failing even rudimentary tests of whether they deserve their positions (Buttigieg on the airlines, for instance). Some people feel better advocating for more openly right wing types to take office because that space gives way to outrage and organization against the current government becomes easier. Others see the task as electing a Social Democrat and then pointing out that the problems in fact have not been solved, and believe that having a right winger in power that milquetoast lefties can rail against just gives credibility to the notion that electing someone without radical politics can solve the problem.
In Vancouver, the current mayor is Ken Sim. He managed to cohere a voting bloc against the previous mayor, a Social Democrat held up by a right wing City Council, by combining police connections with the media for favourable coverage with a crime narrative that foregrounded racial grievances to build upper and middle class solidarity. He is the right wing reaction, and he has made that clear in his first few months in office with his legislative priorities. His coalition feels like the sort that will collapse when the liberals defect from general disinterest to open distaste for the free hand that police have been given to crack down on the lower classes, but at that point they will clamour for anyone with “electability” to save them from their dilemma, who will inevitably the most milquetoast of reformists.
In Montreal, Valerie Plante is nearing the end of her second term. Elected in response to a fairly typical right winger who more based his support in doling out patronage than in straightforward law and order appeals, she has largely favoured a style of Social Democratic politics emphasizing public infrastructure investment in order to displace this patronage with her own focused on left wing priorities (public transit, biking). She is sufficiently skilled in her trade that she will likely win a third term, barring unforeseen political scandals, given that her major opponents were political revanchists from the right and an incoherent attempt at a left wing grievance-oriented campaign that only garnered 8% of the vote. For me, of the two mayors, she’s the one I’d rather face. Clear proof that electing someone doesn’t solve every problem.
Sim will create much of the activism against himself, but most of those involved will be driven by their own localized grievances and won’t connect these to wider issues involving capitalism. They’ll be difficult to involve in more nuanced discussions that involve criticisms of their place in producing figures like him and figures that are supposed to correct his excesses but only perpetuate them. For Plante at least, those involved will be committed and disciplined, and those who are converted will be too because they see mere electoralism won’t solve the issue. Personally, I would prefer a Plante in Toronto.
What we have in Toronto is John Tory, an interesting specimen who is a rarity across Canadian politics. Just looking at the city’s finances and public investment, I’m quite unaware of a mayor in the entire country who acts so far to the right of his public image. Quite a few American mayors do this, typically those supported by political machines in Black neighbourhoods like Adams and Lightfoot. Tory’s interesting because he doesn’t fit their profiles but acts the same way. Plante is supportive of the police, but does not allow them to cannibalize the rest of the city by increasing their budget above the rate that property tax rises. Tory is quite happy to give his patronage to the police even as city maintenance budgets dry up. A significant part of his base believes that he has cleaned up the city even as it has becomes less liveable both due to his reduction in public investment in the downtown core and his pushing of carceral solutions to every problem. He’s able to portray himself as a reasonable moderate “Red Tory” to liberals and still take on his law and order image to defuse the frothy right, who have largely disengaged from municipal politics now that their preferred candidate, Rob Ford, leads the province.
This makes sense when you consider his blue blood background. Tory’s father was a prominent lawyer, the son of another prominent lawyer, who was hired by Roy Thomson of Thomson-Reuters fame to run his business affairs. If you’ve come this far and don’t know who the Thomson family is, net worth $53 billion and the richest family in Canada, just open a newspaper sometime and look for the Reuters byline. Tory’s father was also close to Ted Rogers, of the deeply hated cell phone-cable-radio conglomerate Rogers Communications. Tory was fast-tracked into a preparatory high school for the University of Toronto, then while he was in that university he was given a part time job of managing two radio stations owned by his father. From there, he completed his law degree, then was sent into the public relations department of Ontario Premiere Bill Davis. After Davis lost, his dad worked to get him a junior job in Prime Minister Mulroney’s PR staff, and he ended up managing the campaign of Kim Campbell. He bombed that post, and was rewarded by becoming CEO of Rogers’ TV stations, and getting on the board of grocery chain Metro to boot. Afterwards he tried to run for mayor of Toronto, gaining the Ford family’s endorsement in 2003 but ultimately failing as a repeat of the prior mayor. He pulled a job as leader of the provincial Conservatives, pulling on his father’s connections as well as his own to be parachuted into the safest riding in the province, but once again failed. Finally, he spent 7 years in the wilderness, hosting a political talk show on a (where else) Rogers radio station. Presumably he managed to finally take in some of the political lessons of his failures, because he managed to win his first real electoral contest in 2014 by defeating the defenestrated Ford machine and the worthless Layton-NDP one.
From there, Tory has only seen success. He was on the losing side of only 11% of council votes on his first term, and 2.5% on his second term. In popular vote terms, he managed to win with over 50% both times, in large part because he has consistently kept on the media’s good side, the police’s good side, the good side of liberals who want flash public investment but don’t actually care about the poor because they commute to work in cars and don’t need green space because they have cottages, and the good side of conservatives because he has kept in the good books of the Ford family in myriad secretive background negotiations with the province. This has come against a backdrop of rapidly increasing property prices that have tripled the homeless population and doubled deaths in shelters. Only the truly hardcore believe in opposing Tory, because both sides are out to lunch. What will replace him will either be a city failing to deal with a complete collapse, or a rescue operation far out of its depth. By acting like Sim but having the public image of Plante, Tory has managed to completely defang most of the activism that could have arisen against him and doomed Toronto to never becoming the world-class city its residents want it to be.

Songs tell stories. If you let your imagination run wild, it transports you
When I listen to Reflections (by the neighborhood), I feel myself lying on a cold, tarred road at night looking up at the sky. The glow of dim blue light from a house nearby falls on my skin.
Different parts of the song speak differently. When the chorus comes, I'm walking along the sea at midnight. The cold water wet my feet as the waves come crashing down. My toes sink into the damp sand every time I take a step. A blurry reflection of the full moon on the ocean as it peacefully slept.
The same artist can take you to different worlds, but always within the same universe.
Sweater Weather gives the feeling of a gloomy evening. Right before a heavy rain, when the world seems just about to crash on me. While solidarity felt peaceful in Reflections, it is troubling now. The desire to be with the person I love envelopes me as the song builds.
The slight chill air whispers at my ear and blows my hair, tickling my neck.

Jos collapsed school is to be closed, according Governor Caleb Mutfwang's

Following the school's collapse on Friday, July 12, Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has ordered Saints Academy in Jos to close. The school, which houses 145 primary and 284 secondary students, collapsed on Friday morning, killing 22 people and injuring 154 more. In a statement on Saturday, the state's commissioner of information, Musa Ashoms, verified the school's closure. According to Ashoms, Muftwang issued the directive while on a visit to the location of the fallen structure in the Busa Buji neighbourhood. The commissioner continued by saying that the governor had also issued an order for the arrest of artisanal miners who worked in the state's residential regions. He said that Muftwang also expressed sympathy to the families of the children who had passed away and said that the state government would pay for the injured students' medical care. According to Ashoms, the state government has proclaimed a three-day period of mourning in the wake of the tragic event. The announcement said, in part, "The Executive Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, has announced a three-day period of mourning from July 13 to July 15, 2024, in reaction to the unfortunate loss of lives and injuries incurred by teachers and pupils of Saints Academy Jos. All flags will fly at half-mast during this period in remembrance of the Jos school building disaster victims.  “Governor Mutfwang extends his heartfelt condolences to the families affected by this devastating incident and urges citizens to strictly follow building codes and ethics to prevent such tragedies. Some protests and counter-protests have been cancelled in/around Liverpool in the next couple of days, so if you're planning to attend, please double check!
Btw, non UK users here, would be genuinely super helpful if you could boost posts relating to the far right violence happening and also counter protests. A lot of UK users don’t really follow each other, and also it just helps to increase the chance of people who could go to counter protests seeing posts about what’s happening when. I know posts about our politics; and non USAmerican politics really; don’t get a lot of traction on here, but like despite the UScentrism of the English speaking user base it’s really helpful and beneficial to share these things. The situation is likely downright horrifying to those being targeted right now and it really should be a priority for us to go out and counter this to the best of our abilities

[CW: discussion of historic racism] The racial category of "white" is arbitrary and has nothing to do with skin colour. I know that historically in the US Irish and Italian immigrants have been considered non-White with many signs on bars, pubs and neighbourhoods declaring things like "No Blacks, Chinese, Irish or Italians" This only changed when these groups started building solidarity with each other. At that point Irish and Italians started being considered white so they would gain some (tenuous) privilege they could loose through association with minorities lower on the social hierarchy.
That is not to say that the experiences of discrimination against Irish etc where at all comparable with the magnitude and brutality of chattel slavery, just that white is a category that is awarded to groups of people based on utility to a white supremacist system, often without affecting the actual hierarchies that are in effect between groups of white people.

Roofing for Emergency Shelters: Meeting Critical Needs in Brooklyn
Tumblr media
In the heart of Brooklyn, a bustling metropolis with diverse neighbourhoods and a vibrant community, the importance of well-structured emergency shelters and disaster relief centres cannot be overstated. When natural disasters strike, or emergencies occur, these facilities serve as a lifeline for those in need. A crucial component of these shelters is the roofing system, which plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and comfort of residents.
This article will delve into the unique roofing needs and considerations for emergency shelters and disaster relief centres in Brooklyn.
Durability and Resilience
Brooklyn is not immune to extreme weather events, from hurricanes to heavy snowfalls. Therefore, the roofing materials used for emergency shelters must be exceptionally durable and resilient. High-quality materials that can withstand severe weather conditions are paramount. Impact-resistant shingles, metal roofing, or membrane roofing systems are often preferred, as they protect against the elements.
Waterproofing and Leak Prevention
One of the primary functions of an emergency shelter's roof is to keep its occupants dry and safe. Proper waterproofing is non-negotiable. Roofing contractors in Brooklyn tasked with building or repairing these roofs pay meticulous attention to waterproof membranes and flashing systems. The goal is to prevent leaks, which can jeopardize the health and comfort of those seeking refuge in the shelter.
Energy Efficiency and Comfort
Emergency shelters are often in operation for extended periods. As such, energy efficiency is a critical consideration. Brooklyn experiences a wide range of temperatures throughout the year, from sweltering summers to freezing winters. An energy-efficient roofing system helps maintain a comfortable indoor environment while reducing heating and cooling costs. Reflective and cool roofing materials can be used to mitigate temperature extremes.
Accessibility and Safety
Incorporating safe access points on the roof is essential for maintenance, inspections, and potential evacuations. Properly designed rooftop walkways, anchor points, and guardrails ensure the safety of personnel needing access to the roof during emergencies.
Solar Integration
As part of Brooklyn's commitment to sustainability, many emergency shelters are exploring the integration of solar panels into their roofing systems. Solar energy can provide a reliable source of power during disasters and reduce ongoing energy costs. Roofing designs must accommodate the installation of solar arrays to maximize their benefits.
Local Regulations and Permits
Like all urban areas, Brooklyn has specific building codes and regulations that must be followed. Emergency shelter roofing projects must obtain the necessary permits and approvals. Roofing contractors in Brooklyn are well-versed in navigating local regulations to ensure emergency shelters comply with all safety standards.
Regular Maintenance and Inspection
Regular maintenance and inspections are essential once an emergency shelter's roofing system is in place. Scheduled roof installation Brooklyn NY can identify potential issues before they become major problems, ensuring that the shelter remains fully operational when needed.
The roofing needs of emergency shelters and disaster relief centres in Brooklyn are distinct and demanding. These facilities play a vital role in safeguarding the community during times of crisis. By focusing on durability, waterproofing, energy efficiency, safety, and compliance with local regulations, Brooklyn's roofing contractors contribute to the resilience and well-being of the borough's residents. A well-designed and maintained roof ensures that emergency shelters can provide safe refuge in times of need, reflecting the strength and solidarity of the Brooklyn community.

ALL ABOUT LIGHTWEIGHT BLOCKS
What Is Lightweight Cement?
Lightweight blocks is a mix of lightweight coarse totals like shale, dirt, or record, giving it low thickness. The set up thickness (unit weight) of underlying light weight cement block manufacturers in vijayawada substantial reaches from 1440 to 1840 kg/m3.
Rule Of Lightweight Cement
The center rule behind the development of light weight cement block suppliers in vijayawada is the presentation of air into the substantial. There are different methodologies that can be taken to achieve this. For instance:
Cell permeable totals can be utilized instead of customary totals in concrete. (Concrete with light total)
Blocks can be loaded up with air or gas bubbles (Circulated air through concrete).
Sand ought not be utilized or ought to be excluded during the substantial planning process. (Concrete without any fines.).
Qualities of Lightweight Cement
1. Diminished Thickness
The thickness of this substantial reaches somewhere in the range of 300 and 1200 kg/m3. The lightest sort is used for protection, while the heavier kind is utilized for primary purposes. Due to its low thickness, cell concrete is great for precast material and floor units. Since these units are lightweight, they are simpler to deal with and convey from the maker to the place of work.
2. High Strength
Lightweight blocks has a high compressive strength corresponding to its thickness. The compressive strength of such blocks has been seen to ascend as its thickness increments. It has a rigidity that is 15 to 20% of its compressive strength. light weight concrete block manufacturers in vijayawada has a significantly higher solidarity to-mass proportion than ordinary blocks. Thus, the heaviness of the lightweight substantial rooftop section and the floor is around 25% that of standard built up concrete.
3. Strength
Circulated air through concrete is marginally basic. Due to its porosity and low alkalinity, it doesn't safeguard the steel support as hard compacted concrete does.Subsequently, the support utilized in cell concrete requires specific treatment to forestall consumption.
4. Warm Protection
The protecting worth of lightweight blocks is roughly three to multiple times that of blocks and multiple times that of cement. A 20 cm thick circulated air through substantial wall with a thickness of 800 kg/m3 has a similar level of protection as a 40 cm thick block facade with a thickness of 1600 kg/m3.
5.Fire Opposition
Lightweight blocks has high heat proof characteristics. On account of its low warm conductivity, it is helpful for safeguarding different designs from the impacts of fire.
6. Soundproofing
Lightweight blocks doesn't have a similar degree of sound disengagement as thick concrete.
7. Shrinkage
Lightweight substantial psychologists very little.
8. Repairability
Lightweight substantial items are easy to cut, drill, nail, and saw. This property works with development. The construction's neighbourhood  fix can be managed depending on the situation.
9. Speed of Development
By using unit construction, the design can be planned on the secluded coordination guideline, bringing about a quicker speed of development.
10. Economy
Due to the great solidarity to-weight proportion and light weight concrete block suppliers in vijayawada of substantial items, their use brings about less steel utilization. The utilization of precast un-supported cell substantial blocks with built up substantial matrix radiates in composite floor development brings about critical reserve funds in concrete and steel utilization. This essentially decreases the expense of building rooftops and floors. In contrast with ordinary development, this style of development can bring about reserve funds of approximately 15-20% in the development of rooftops and floors.
11. Quality Control
Since these units are manufacturing plant constructed, the utilization of lightweight substantial items prompts worked on quality control.

[Video] Exarcheia turned into a battleground following the State's decision to destroy its historic square
Video from the protest and the riot that followed on Saturday 25 September 2022 in Exarcheia, (Athens, Greece) against the State’s decision to destroy the historic Exarcheia Square under the excuse of constructing a metro station on top of it. This was the 3d big protest against the metso on Exarcheia Square since August 2022. In the first one approximately 1.000 people took part, in the 2nd more than 2.000 and in this 3d one approximately 4.500 protesters. Following this big protest in the streets of Exarcheia in downtown Athens, riots broke out.
How it started (through the words of the Open Assembly No Metro Station on Exarchia Square):
"It was a hot, mid-summer night in central Athens. The city was silent and residents on holidays. Shops were closed. It was at that time, on 9 August 2022 at 4:30am, that the Greek State launched an unprecedented attack on one of Athens’ iconic spaces, Exarchia square. Hundreds of police flooded the streets around the square to impose the construction of an unpopular metro station and repress the citizens’ reactions against it. They have been there ever since; so have the people of Exarchia.
On the day of the operation, more than a thousand people took to the otherwise empty, summer Athenian streets to march in protest and solidarity with Exarchia. Hundreds have joined the open assemblies. Local businesses have submitted a restraining order against the (public) construction company. Dozens meet every day at 6 a.m. opposite to heavily armed police forces. Intellectuals, academics and artists have argued en masse against the project and the government’s authoritarian practices.
Exarchia square is a breathing space for residents, children, workers, visitors – a small square breaking the concrete monotony of central Athens. It is the home of fighting youth, radical ideas, students, artists and intellectuals. It is hard to find any newcomer, excluded or marginalised, any Athenian youth that has not socialised, flirted, chatted over a casual beer or coffee with peers, any visitor that has not attended cultural activities or taken refuge from the hot Athenian sun under the shadows of the square’s trees.
Exarchia square is an international symbol of resistance and political ferment. It is characterised by class solidarity, self-organisation, antiracism, coexistence and respect for different people, driven by the dream of a world of equality and justice. Over time, it has been a reference point for LGBTQI+ struggles and a safe space for all oppressed, persecuted or marginalised identities.
ALL THIS IS CURRENTLY ON THE LINE due to the obsession of a government to proceed with a project rejected by the people and to use our square, the square of all people, as a trophy and a milestone in its exclusivist agenda.
The design of the proposed metro station will destroy one of the few public spaces in the centre of Athens and the only square in the neighbourhood. In the midst of a climate crisis, 70 mature trees that are currently in the square will be sacrificed to create escalators and concrete ventilation boxes, turning our breathing space into an urban desert. Dust, noise and heavy traffic will further aggravate the daily life of our densely populated neighbourhood. It will precipitate the ongoing, uncontrolled increase of property values thus driving current renters and small businesses out and changing the character of the neighbourhood.
The construction of the metro station on Exarchia square is the jewel in the crown of violent gentrification and touristification of Athens city centre, which also includes:
Imposed “development” of the city centre and its transformation into a Tourist Hub, forcibly displacing present citizens.
Changing buildings that are part of the social fabric into museums
"Sterilisation" of public universities and institutions, strangling freedom of thought and activism
Demolition of public spaces and destruction of green areas
Increase of rents
Offering the nearby Strefi Hill to private interests
Conversion of the residential character of neighbourhoods into commercial zones.
Our petition aims to stop the construction of a metro station on Exarchia square on the grounds that it:
a. neglects the needs of our community; b. undermines the quality of life offered to us and our children; c. uses tax payers money to forward and ideological agenda and increase profits for private corporations; d. normalises police brutality and repression.
Sign our petition at https://www.change.org/p/saving-the-historic-exarchia-square-our-neighbourhood-s-only-breathing-space?source_location=topic_page
Help us stop their plans and resist the government’s authoritarianism and repression.
Let’s demonstrate our numbers and the power of the many!
Hold out a hand of solidarity to a neighbourhood that has always been at the forefront of the struggle for life and dignity".
