I really wanted to read the novels again, since I was obsessed with the series a few years back (seven...), but for the life of me I cannot get through the first vol without cringing. How did I read that shit with a straight face and unapologetically flaunted how much I loved the novels, I have no idea.

...I still hold the series close to my heart. Especially my bug maid <3

swap au using these hc’s. ;) Totally, anyone who’s sweet yet pisses off Killer T so much by just existing has to be great friend material in NK’s book. = D I do think NK’s a softy deep down and unlike Killer T, if she found a good friend like 3803, she wouldn’t be too prideful about being her friend openly. NK might want to have a rep for being a rough scary sassy champ who can take anyone in a fight. But I don’t think she cares about the opinions of other cells like Killer T does. She is prideful and does get embarrassed about things about herself too. But if she wants something, she’ll go for it. If anyone has a problem with that, she’ll shut them up with her fist. 

I love how you always have 1146 so done w/his friends antics w/3803 while they tease him back. 3803 has the patience of a saint to put up w/them. Xp 2001 going from ‘stop that’ to 'yeah I like this keep carrying me’ is gold. 2001 is definitely the subtle tease. They take bets on when or how 1146 will eventually get carried by 3803 because everyone knows it will have to happen someday. 1146 is pretty stubborn (I like how RBC is less fragile but lets his emotions out even more in bigger ways). At that point he refuses to let it happen just t spite his annoying friends. 3803 is aware and never tries to carry him just help him out with his friends (they keep bugging her to carry him in certain ways so they’ll win the bet). 

1146 'I did not finally introduce her to you after all your badgering just so she can be at the beck and call of your shenanigans’ to his friends. 

In this verse 5100 is actually softer with 1146. Unlike in canon hc where 5100 is a mama bear and acts bias to 1146 out of protectiveness for 3803. Here she likes he’s so protective of 3803 and cares so much because of the lifestyle. At first she was afraid he’d be a non immune cell who would hurt 3803’s feelings (3803 is so friendly and wants to be friends with everyone, 5100 was always heartbroken when a non immune cell acted bias against her) and told 3803 to be careful and not to get too attached. She eventually saw he was sticking around and protects her in his own way. They’re not friends yet but they get along well and act like a protect 3803 tag team.

Shipping wise, 1146 trying to court 3803 is even funnier because he does know how romance and dating stuff works now and has a better network to help him with it. While 3803 is still herself. She has no concept of romance whatsoever and is even more driven to improve her work. If 1146 asks her out and straight up manages to say he likes her, she’s like thanks I like you too! What a great friend you are I love you so much 1146! =D 

Then he falls into a puddle of goo because she somehow misunderstood him and still one upped him. He can’t even mutter I love you back and just tells her thanks before stuffing a bunch of pastries in his mouth to shut himself up. Eventually he just keeps telling her bluntly he likes and loves her in even casual everyday conversations. Wondering if someday it will sink in, but whether it does or doesn’t he’s happy he’s brave enough to be honest with her. He’s more happy to love her then expecting to be loved back the same way.

One day she gets finally realize his feelings. It’s during a horrible virus infection and the realization causes such a huge trigger she deals the killing blow that restores moral for the immune cells to keep fighting back. Dendritic cell is ecstatic. Finally he knows how to activate her. Embarrassing photos don’t work on her. She does embarrassing stuff all the time and she’s oddly comfortable with herself (for an immune cell). From then on he shows pictures of 1146 either doing cute (and embarrassing things from 1146’s perspective) things or doting on her to 3803 and that becomes her activation for greater power.  

 She then becomes twice shy since she never thought anyone would love her like that and she’s happy it’s 1146 that does. 1146 takes the lead in a lot of romantic gestures… and puts up with her weird ideas of romantic gestures for him. It’s the thought that counts and he knows she’s getting ideas from not very reliable sources (her romantically stunted immune cell friends or his own romantically dumb friends). Overall just a fun reversal from my hc’s where 1146 is the dumb yet persistent one at courting and 3803 is the one who makes all the first moves while in a relationship. XP

Actually this reversal hc isn’t so different from my canon hcs. I imagine there too 3803 would be surprised anyone would fall in love with her. Especially someone as great as 1146 (who’s good at hiding his feelings from her).  

Also just wanted to say again your little fics are priceless and I vastly enjoy them. =D

Dude, you should seriously think about taking up writing. All of this is so gold and it’s not just because you always happen to include my fave wbc boy 2001. XD 

But I seriously agree with you about NK Cell and 3803. You know how in the manga that one of the cytokines was a picture of NK in a macrophage maid outfit? I bet NK would definitely try and rope 3803 into that one just because. While NK is perturbed by the dress, 3803 is busy looking cute and awesome! The both of them agree that macrophage weapons are totally cool and plan to borrow some of them one day during an infection crisis. 

As for 5100, given that I think she would be more pragmatic about romance, she’d take one look at 1146 and how protective he is over 3803, she’ll be like:

“3803.” 5100 nudged her fellow wbc and pointed at 1146, who, at that point, was busy haggling with a vendor for more glucose cones.

3803 glanced up at her mentor with something akin to worry and apprehension. “I’m not lost again. am I?”

5100 pointed at 3803. “You.” 

5100 then pointed at 1146. “Him.”

3803 blinked. “Um--”

5100 grabbed 3803 by the shoulders and gently shook her. “Keep him. You hear me? Keep him.”

And 3803 doesn’t realize that 5100 was telling her to court 1146 until way later when she had that sudden realization.
