they meet for the first time at a nightclub in são paulo, brazil. hajime is there on a trip with his best friends, and tooru is out celebrating one of his closest friend’s bachelor party.

iwaizumi steps out onto the terrace of the nightclub. as much fun as he’s having inside seeing matsukawa and kuroo learning how to twerk under the guidance of two cheerful brazilians while bokuto and hanamaki dominate the limbo contest, his ears desperately need a break.

the music becomes muffled thumps as he shuts the door behind him and walks to the balcony. the cool breeze feels like heaven against his heated skin, bristling his bare, strong arms in a refreshing way.

his eyes trace the wide road below, the few scattered vehicles crawling through it at this hour of the night. streetlights illuminate the streets faintly, and voices echo in portuguese, a language he recognizes but barely understands, apart from bom dia, olá, boa noite, and obrigado.

it’s still surreal that he's in brazil, more than 18,000 kilometers from home, few months after makki jokingly suggested it after seeing a tiktok, bokuto called up a friend for the best city recommendations, kuroo checked flights just for fun, mattsun coordinated everyone’s free days, and hajime himself checked their passports and scheduled renewal appointments for issei and tetsuro.

chuckling to himself, hajime pulls a strawberry lollipop from the back pocket of his jeans. he unwraps it, tucks the wrapper back into his pocket, and pops the candy into his mouth.

the faint tobacco craving he's been battling slowly fades away as the taste of the strawberry sticks to his tongue.

he rolls the stick idly between his fingers as his gaze shifts to the dark sky. there're no stars tonight, but a nearly full, brilliant moon glows softly through the haze of light pollution.

the terrace door opens and closes, but hajime doesn’t really register it until he hears:

“yes, mom! don’t worry, we’ll head back to the hotel soon.”

someone is speaking japanese at this club in são paulo, 18,000 kilometers away from japan.

hajime’s eyes widen, his head swiveling almost comically toward the voice. and there, a few steps away, he sees him.

the owner of the voice stands with one hand holding a large plastic cup, and the other pressing a phone to his ear. the terrace lighting reveals a loose, oversized camp collar shirt in a deep blue, the first four buttons undone to reveal smooth, firm skin. the shirt is tucked into wide-legged dark pants, long enough to cover his converse. a silver necklace gleams across his collarbones, matching the rings that adorn a few slender fingers.

tousled, short brown hair. large, almond-shaped eyes. high cheekbones that shimmer with glitter like stardust. a sharp nose. glossy lips that curve into a genuine smile before laughter spills from them. pretty is the first thought that barrels through hajime’s brain. he’s so fucking pretty.

the pretty boy says goodbye to his mum, hajime catches his last words “i love you too. i'll text you when i get to the hotel” before wraps up the call and slipping his phone into his back pocket. hajime quickly looks away, focusing back on the road as he shifts the lollipop to his other cheek.

he considers heading back inside to check how mattsun and makki are doing with their twerk lessons and make sure bokuto and kuroo haven’t gotten into trouble with the limbo.

but then, that voice pulls him in again, yanking his attention like gravity.

“oh my god, the moon!”

the awe in his voice is palpable, and hajime smiles softly as he watches the pretty boy stare up at the sky, mouth slightly open in wonder.

the boy fumbles for his phone, glancing around for somewhere to put down his cup before setting it on a chair.

he rushes to the railing, stopping just a couple of steps from iwa, raising his phone with an expression of adorable concentration to snap photos of the moon.

but soon he frowns, clearly frustrated, and before hajime can stop himself, his mouth moves, in japanese, “is it an iphone?”

the pretty boy flinches, as if he hadn’t even realized he wasn’t alone. he turns to hajime, wide eyes blinking like an owl’s.

“are you japanese?” he asks, a little shyly. hajime nods, and the boy smiles, holding up his phone with a case with a grey alien flashing a peace sign under the apple logo. “it is.”

the tension in hajime’s shoulders, something he hadn’t noticed until now, melts away like ice in sunlight. he pulls the lollipop from his mouth, now visibly smaller.

“switch to video mode, lower the exposure all the way, and zoom in on the moon,” he explains as pretty boy follows his instructions. "once it’s focused, adjust the exposure again until you get a clear shot. then hit the other shutter."

“wow, it works!” the boy gasps, snapping several pics, his smile spreading wide. hajime can’t help but smile too, watching him. “thanks, buffy boy!”

hajime chokes, cheeks heating up, but he tries to recover under the boy’s amused gaze.

“no problem,” he manages, clearing his throat “pretty boy.”

the boy grins, his tongue peeking between his teeth in delight.

“oikawa tooru,” he introduces himself, extending a hand. “but you can keep calling me pretty boy.”

tooru, tooru, tooru.

hajime raises an eyebrow, a small smile tugging at his lips as he takes the offered hand. it’s warm, bit thinner than his own, with long fingers. there’s a faint roughness to his palm and fingertips, but an undeniable softness too.

“iwaizumi hajime,” he replies, their hands still joined. “and you can’t keep calling me buffy boy.”

“boo, boring!” tooru pouts, his eyes glinting with mischief. “then how about a cute nickname with your name?”

“don’t even think about it” hajime warns, though his hand gently pulls tooru’s closer, their fingers beginning to intertwine.

“oh, i already thought of one! iwa-chan!”

“what are you, four? no.”

“c’mon, be fun! we’re in brazil!”

hajime rolls his eyes, but the smile is still there, unwavering since the beginning.

“i don’t think that’s the cutest way to address someone you’ve just met,” he points out, though the latter could well be a lie.

because there’s something on tooru’s presence, like the warmth of the first ray of sunlight during bitter cold days. iwaizumi's soul hums with a quiet, solemn certainty that echoes through his chest: it’s him, it’s him, it’s him.

You can’t sit down. You really can’t sit down.

If you did, your period cramps gonna get worse. So you tried walking around the house fiddling through your social media trying to take off your mind from the pain in your womb.

It’s always like this, the first day of period. You can’t poop with ease, your back is hurt, you can’t get a comfortable sleep and all of this make you wanna snap. You swear you don’t mean to be so angry with everything but why, oh just why everything kept getting on your nerves especially on your first day of period?!

Even the spaghetti jar sauce won’t open today, when usually you can just open it with easily. This is so annoying!

You were about to throw the jar across the kitchen and that’s when Iwaizumi get in. His eyes wide seeing you about to go berserk over jammed lid jar of spaghetti sauce, his body move swiftly to catch it before it smashed on the floor.

Shock seeing your boyfriend’s on the floor with his arms tightly received the jar that you threw have you gasped at your place. Now, you feel bad..

“Babe, why did you throw this?” He asked, getting up on his feet as he set the spaghetti sauce on the kitchen counter.

“I tried to open it but it stuck, and I got mad.” You said, pissed is evident in your face but your voice sounded small because of what just happened.

“Look, you can just ask me. Here.” Your boyfriend handed you the spaghetti jar sauce.

You take the jar sauce and said your gratitude to him as you left to cook your now soggy pasta.

This is the problem. The problem is you don’t feel like eating anymore, suddenly the pasta you cooked doesn’t look appetising. A big sigh leave your mouth when you stand up to wrap your plate with the cling wrap and put it in the fridge.

You went to the living room and sit beside Iwaizumi who is now watching the last volleyball game of Japan team, trying to analyse their weakness and jot down what should be improved.

He notice you’re sitting slumps as your head rest in the curve of the sofa’s backrest staring at the ceiling while your hand lightly press on your lower stomach.

“You okay there babe?”

“Yeah.”

He’s not too happy with your tone but seeing your brows scrunching, he’s not gonna pay it no mind.

“Have you taken your menstrual med?” He asked again.

“Yeah, but usually even menstrual med don’t do much on the first day of period.” You replied as your hands went up to massage your temples.

“Well maybe, you’re just lacked water today.”

You believe your boyfriend is not being cynical, he just worried and caring of you to be in such a pain. But somehow it irks you— like water?

Seriously, water?!

You abruptly sit straight and turn to your boyfriend who is now jumpy seeing your air change around you.

You look mad but not really, your face is red though. You about to cry? Or you about to get angry? Iwaizumi doesn’t know but he know for sure that he have push the wrong button.

Uh-oh..

“Water? Really babe, water?! I’ve drank like twelve glass today because no matter how much I drink, I keep feeling thirsty and it’s because of the blood keep pumping out of me. And I can’t poop, because the stretch hurt me, my back and my thighs hurt and I’m tired!”

And with that you left him dumbfounded in the living room with tv echoing in the background.

This feels bad, everything feels bad.

You almost smashed the spaghetti sauce jar, you snapped at your boyfriend and on top of that, you slam the door so hard on him too.

Yes, you’re annoyed and in pain but that does not excuse the way you behave today. You wanted so badly to go back and hug your boyfriend, you wanna apologise to him.

Hajime must be so annoyed at me right now.

As you rolling and cocooning in your thick blanket drowning in your own remorse, you didn’t heard the door to your room clicking open.

“Baby..”

You jolted when you hear your boyfriend, softly calling out for you.

“Baby.”

You feel the weight shifted in the bed as Iwaizumi sat down beside your blanket-swaddled body. His hand went on looking for the opening in search of his beautiful girlfriend.

There she is.

“Are you still mad?” He asked as his hand caressing your head. Fingers faintly playing with your scalp.

“Don’t ignore me babe..” his breathe fanning your face as he lay down beside you, his eyes gingerly scanning your expressions.

“I’m not mad. I just… feel bad.” Your tears started to pooling at your waterline as your gazes turn to your boyfriend.

“I snapped at you. I almost smashed that jar and if it’s not for you, I might have to clean it.” You let out your hand from the blanket and you grip Iwaizumi’s forearm lightly.

“What if you get tired of me? I am always this snappy when I’m on my period and you always have to tends me. What if-”

“Stop.” You stopped talking as soon as that word drops from his mouth.

“I’ll let you talk if it’s about you misbehaving but to let you rant about me getting tired of you? Nuh-uh. You’re handful but my hands are bigger.” You snickered at his funny remarks.

“You’re in pain. It’s okay to throw a tantrums.. a little.” He laughed.

“But I will never stop tending you, baby. You’re mine and mine to take care of.” His hand slowly pry open the blanket just half of your body so he could run his hand on your ache back.

You smile at him. He has no idea how his words eases you.

“You’re so kind to me, Hajime.”

“What kind of a man is not kind to their own girl.” Your boyfriend huffed as he turn to his back and brings heat pad to you.

“Roll over babe, let me stick them on your lower back.”

“There.” He smoothen the heat pad as he fixes your shorts. “Any headache?” Your boyfriend asked and bring your pillow under your head.

“No headache but can you like.. play with my scalp, please?”

Without another words he move himself by your side, prop his arms so his face can rest on his palm. His fingers drew to your scalp, lovingly playing your curls.

“Like this?” He asked.

“Yeah.” A satisfying sigh leaving your lips.

A moment went by, Iwaizumi thought you already fall asleep when suddenly your question got him pause massaging your scalp.

“Do you love me?” He would reply you with a joke but seeing you so this vulnerable, he will only going to answer as truthful as you always hoped for.

“Always, and forever.” He kisses your forehead, your cheeks, your nose and your lips.

“I love you too, y/n.”

FAVOURITE HAIKYUU SHIPS (edited version)

1. BoKuroo - kill me. I'm a slut for rare pairs it seems and I'm furious but now I'm hooked. I love buffy bottoms and this one is not an exception (Bokuto Bottom Stan!!!). Also this ship could be both best friends to lovers (but different from bokuaka since BokuAka is very soft and wholesome while BoKuroo is just literal bro energy) or enemies to friends to lovers. I love the fraternity/bros energy because it's straight but it's so gay.

2. BokuAka - i guess I'm a slut for Bokuto but who can blame me? So here Akaashi is more of a bottom for me but tbh it depends how the fic and characters are written. So it actually depends hugely on dynamic description in the fic. Of course best friends to lovers plus pining plus wholesome but there is an equal potential for angst.

3. IwaOi - NOT ENOUGH IWAIZUMI BOTTOM FICS. As I said, i love buffy bottoms. Also they're friends but also enemies to mmmmmmm also angst potential. So much angst potential considering Oikawa high-key is a slut. Manwhore with women, if you will. So much angst potential.

4. SakuAtsu - I like bratty bottoms so Atsumu fits the role. Haven't read that many fics so I don't have a clear opinion on what I really like about them but I'm also a slut for enemies to lovers.

5. KenHina - wholesome and soft. Also it's canon that Kenma really has a weak spot for Hinata.

6. KageHina - rivals to lovers! Hinata bottoming because he is a sunshine and deserves to be taken care of. Also most basic ship but like can you blame people for shipping them?

7. KuroTsuki - they thrive on each others bullshit but I haven't found a fic yet that truly got my heart. Like in theory this ship make the most sense out of all Tsukishima and Kuroo ships but there is just something lacking, that's why this ship is so low compared to my previous post.

I found that the characterization and the attention to detail the author put into the story is what made it a truly distinguishable and unique fic that allowed it to rise to the top. I loved to watch love bloom for Akaashi in the cracks of his tumultuous life, because he deserves everything <333

In Another Life by LittleLuxray⭑

As the highest-rated Haikyuu fanfic on ao3, this work is a monument and will go down in Haikyuu history. That being said, it honestly did such a number on me that I think it deserves the hype. This hospital au revolving around Akaashi and Bokuto’s budding relationship is truly heartbreaking, to say the least. Read it at your own risk, and oh, you can find references to it under almost any Bokuaka related post.

Just, overall, a really nice and satisfying read.

It seems to me that the writing and emotions on this one are its claims to fame, so definitely check it out.

The premise of a heist fic also is probably what caught people's attention the most, because what is better than an Iwaoi heist fic (nothing. nothing is better.) I recommend this if you want a bit of a longer fic that had a tumultuous plot and a wild romance.

One of my favorite things about this fic is the inclusion of the Filipino language, and I found myself reading all of the translations at the end. I would recommend this if you want a longer, feel good Sakuatsu fic. Also, lettersinpetals is a Sakuatsu classic author.

This fic is probably the notorious BDSM fic, which I’m glad because it portrays it in a very consensual and safe way. I’m personally not into that stuff, but I still was able to enjoy it for the plot and the amazing writing. I definitely recommend it if you are looking for something with BDSM components with some focus on their relationship dynamics too. I actually did really enjoy this fic, and I think the way their relationship kind of progressed backward was really, really good. Even if BDSM isn’t your cup of tea, I still recommend checking this one out and reading the tags to see if it is something you’re willing to give a chance too, because, for me, it paid off.

Melodic laughter were heard in someone's kitchen. You can say it was one of the best days to do nothing, A "Lazy Day" some to be exact.

To L/N Y/N and Iwaizumi Hajime though was a perfect time to be in each others arms, enjoying their time together.

Iwaizumi's apartment was average sized but with two people there it seemed quite small but both were not complaining as because it makes them even closer together as a couple.

“Alright, so you spread this perfectly here... Oh wait, what's this?” Iwaizumi said grinning mischievously, 'demonstrating' how to properly spread peanut butter on the bread but he had other ideas.

“What? What is it? Did I do it wrong?” Y/N giggling with Iwaizumi standing by their back, hands on their's as they were making sandwiches, questioned their ways on making it because a certain someone was funnily scheming something.

“No...no, nothings wrong. It's just that you have something right here.” As he pointed it out, it was the perfect time to spread peanut butter on Y/N's cheek and makes a run for it behind the counter.

Y/N squeals and both were laughing as they chased each other around the kitchen.

“Hajime, come back here OR I WILL THROW THIS EGG AT YOU, I SWEAR!” they yelled laughing and chased Iwaizumi around the counter.

“Uhuh~ You have to catch me first oH SHI—” Iwaizumi was cut of by flour being thrown on him specifically on his head. Closing his eyes, opening them once agin and blinking twice, a smirk slowly makes its way on his face.

“Mhm~ so that's how it is, huh?” Iwaizumi taunts, grabbing a bowl of flour and slowly making his way around the counter.

“Wait, Hajime... W-We can talk about this, y-yeah?” Y/N was panting slowly stepping back as Iwaizumi was stepping forward.

“Nuh-uh, you started it so I'm gonna finish this. Now, COME HERE!” as the competitive man he us, Iwaizumi says making a run for it, chasing Y/N around his kitchen. Squeals and laughter were heard around the said man's apartment. Some may have thought that someone's getting murder but it was actually two people playing as one.

Now with both you and the kitchen cleaned it was time for cuddles. Being in those big & buffy arms was surely something. Besides you drooling over them, it serves as a great comforter. Warm & cozzy, you could say Iwa's your very own teddy bear now. He really has a big soft spot when it comes to you.

The TV was on but no one was paying attention as both your eyes were on one another. Iwaizumi has his arms on your waist, sometimes it slowly goes to your back to rub it gently as he knows back rubs were one of your favorite things.

“You okay, baby? You sleepy?” Iwaizumi whispered to you as he sees your eyes getting droopy. You gave him a tired nod, and he gives you a kiss on the forehead playing with your hair as he soothes you to sleep. (If you don't have hair, imagine him just massaging your back or waist ;D)

“Can you talk to me until I fall asleep? I just...love your voice.” Y/N asked with a yawn forcing its way on them.

“Mhm sure baby...” “How was your work yesterday?” as you both talk with whispered voices, you didn't realize that you fell asleep already. As for Iwaizumi, he was just smiling softly at you, looking at your face as he was dozing off to his awaited slumber with his baby.

“Do we have everything? You sure about it?” Iwaizumi asks, putting on his sunglasses, keys on one hand, milkshake on the other.

“Yes, Haji. We already checked everything on the list. We just need to check the car if the gas is full.” Y/N says walking towards Iwaizumi giving him a kiss on the cheek.

“Hold this for me, hun. Thanks, I'll just start the car and get it cool enough for us to head on the road.” he hands you his milkshake. Both of you were planning on going to a secluded area for a vacation.

Scrolling on your phone, a certain someone suddenly calls. Let me give you a clue, he's an annoying bitch but you both love him.

“Oh hey, Toru. How's it going?” you say fixing your phone to show your face properly while taking a sip on Iwa's milkshake.

“Y/N-chan, I missed you so much! Wait, are you going somewhere? Where's Iwa-chan?”

“I missed you too, Toto. And Haji's her—”

“Oi, Shittykawa! Why the hell are you calling right now? Thought you were busy? Calling my s/o but not texting me back. Tsk.” Iwaizumi says as he borrows your phone to talk to Oikawa.

“Oh yeah~ ehe, sorry Iwa-chan. Anyways, Chibi-chan's here. We're on break from beach volleyball.” “HI, IWAIZUMI-SAN!”

“IS THAT HINATA?! WAIT LEMME SEE!” You ask for your phone back as you both walk towards the car to hit off the road already.

“Y/N-SAN!! HELLOOO!! I MISSED YOU!!”

“Hinata! It's been a while, I missed you too. How are you?”

“Hey, I was the one talkin to—” Oikawa got cut off because Iwaizumi grabbed your phone and hang up on him. You pouted at him cause but he gave you a peck on the lips to have you smiling again.

“Those two really are a pain in the ass if you get them in one place. Just send Oikawa a text that we're off.” Iwaizumi sighs but with a small smile on his face. Seeing both of them once rivalries off and on court but now good friends (but still rivalries on court though ehe)

The said couple went to their adventure! There destination wasn't really planned but who knows what exciting and memorable things will happen, right?

“Waah~ these appetizers are amazing!” the couple had a full stop on a city where loads of food were deliciously made. Both enjoying the food that they ordered.

“You should look the recipe online. We can try and make it at home.” Iwaizumi says as he takes a piece of his food, wanting you to try it, moved it near your mouth waiting for you to eat. And of course you eat it without hesitation cause... It's FoOD!

“After this, we can go shopping. There's plenty of shops that we can buy some gifts or souvenirs from.” drinking from his beverage, he looks at you with admiration. You truly were beautiful, ethereal to his eyes. The way the sunshine hits the right places on you. You look like a statue sculpted by the gods themselves. (If you protest, I will let my phonescreen eat me to get to you so I can slap (respectfully) it on your face to understand that you are beautiful)

“Haji, how do I look?” you twirl for him as there has a big sun hat on your head and wearing sunglasses and made a pose. Iwa chuckles at your playfulness as he was the one who twirls you around again.

“You look beautiful/handsome/gorgeous/stunning, babe.”

Gifts and souvenir shopping was something both of you enjoy sometimes. Thinking both of your friends and family, what you'll buy for them.

As the sun was setting, you both check-in at a fine hotel that was near. Looking at the balcony, watching the sunset, champagne/wine on your right hand. Everything seemed perfect.

“Excuse me, miss/mister/mx.? Mind if I accompany you at this fine afternoon/evening?” a very handsome Iwaizumi butts in on your alone time but you definitely don't mind. He was wearing a white button-up shirt, tucked in his black jeans, with his black socks on holding a glass of champagne on his own.

“Hi, baby.” he greets you snaking his one arm around your waist to pull you closer and let's it stay there.

“Hi, Haji.” You say, kissing him on the lips and resting your forehead on his after.

“Are you enjoying yourself?” He whispers.

“Yes, I am. The view here is spectacular. Very... Stunning.” you say as your gaze went back to the beautiful sunset right in front of you.

“Yes, very... but not as beautiful as you, doll.” he says nuzzling his face on your shoulder.

Mhmm~ a peaceful afternoon/evening that the couple experiences. Romantic too.

It was Iwaizumi's birthday and you have a small surprise for him, like literally.

You have adopted a small pomeranian husky. She was a rescue but no one wanted to adopt her and her name is Bailey. You and Iwaizumi always wanted a pet dog so why not surprise him one, yeah?

“Okay, okay... I don't see anything, my eyes are closed.” he says as he was sitting on his couch waiting for the surprise.

“Yiiee! I know you're gonna love this one. Alright, you can open your eyes now.”

As Iwaizumi opens his eyes, he sees as small ball of fluff. That made him burrow his eyebrows but soon morphed into a surprised face and turned to you with a grin.

“Holy shi—babe, they look so cute. My god, name and gender?” Iwaizumi already has her in his arms. It was a bonus that she liked him very much, already giving his papa some kisses.

“Her name's Bailey and she's a girl. She's a rescue but no one was interested with her as her size isn't really fitting for a big family. Aah~ you two look so cute together. Let's take a picture.”

Iwaizumi's day couldn't get any better... That's what he thought though.

“So... I called the team and asked them If you could take the day off and they said yes! You're stuck with us now.” you say hugging him, giving him a peck on the lips.

And that's how a war started in the kitchen. Bailey was just barking, spinning and running around the place, enjoying the positive atmosphere that her owners are giving.

To say Iwaizumi was nervous was certainly a surprising thing. The previous ace and vice captain wasn't the one who gets jittery.

“Iwa-chan, relax would you? I could feel the nervousness from outside, geez... Hey, congrats.” Oikawa enters the room and greets his best friend. Time passes by so fast right?

Ohohoho, I do love this question! I will try to list out my top 10 ships (although if you’re interested in more detail, check out my ship meme tag! I really need to start writing some of those again....)

1. Dabi/Hawks (BNHA)

This should come as no surprise to anyone hahahaha. I’ve written 30+ fics about them at this point, and I still love them! They’re foils, and no matter what happens in canon, they’ve got some foe-yay chemistry going on there!

2. Li Jinglong/Kong Hongjun (Tianbao)

Tianbao is my favorite danmei novel hands down, and these guys are a big reason why! They start off just flirty, get a little tragic when you realize they were childhood friends in the past who forgot each other, and they both grow together!

3. Iwaizumi Hajime/Oikawa Tooru (Haikyuu)

Bickering childhood friends! The best trope, and I love all their interactions together!

4. Mei Changsu/Xiao Jingyan (Nirvana in Fire)

Also childhood friends (are you seeing a running theme here, sorry, I love the trope), although currently Prince Jing thinks that his best friend Lin Shu is DEAD AND HE MUST HONOR HIS MEMORY AND CLEAR HIS NAME. Unknown to him however, Lin Shu is alive, and has changed his appearance into Mei Changsu, Prince Jing’s main advisor, all to clear his family name and make Jingyan emperor. There is TRAGEDY EVERYWHERE in this drama, but it’s beautiful, and the only thing I’m mad about is EVERYONE GASLIGHTING JINGYAN INTO THINKING MEI CHANGSU ISN’T LIN SHU and the fact that MEI CHANGSHU SHOULD HUG JINGYAN GDI.

5. Hannibal Lecter/Will Graham (Hannibal)

The top mind game ship and the most messed up relationship possibly on this list, but I DEVOURED every episode of Hannibal when it was coming out, and it was so much fun to watch the game between these two. I don’t even need a season 4, I was really happy where it ended for season 3.

6. Steve Rogers/Bucky Barnes (Captain America)

Yet another childhood friends relationship, and yet another one where one person thinks the other is dead, but in this case of course, Bucky comes back as a brainwashed super-assassin. There’s a lot of snark here, and yes, I know Marvel was too much of a coward to make it canon, or even to really let them be friends after the Winter Soldier movie, but that’s what fic is for.

7. Quan Yizhen/Yin Yu (Tian Guan Ci Fu)

Technically, I guess this could also count as childhood friends, but really, they’re a shixiong/shidi relationship, and in this case, with the shixiong completely jealous of how awesome the shidi has become, and how much he has replaced him, but loving him anyway despite himself. I like to think that the two of the made up after the novel!

8. Faith Lehane/Buffy Summers (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)

Foe-yay tastic with former allies turned enemies turned reluctant allies again, Buffy is the Chosen One, until her near death experience means that there’s now a Chosen Two. I will always root for Faith over Buffy’s other love interests because Faith gets the entire slayer thing and has an edgy bad-girl vibe without being a vampire! (Buffy, you need to stop dating vampires, it seems to always end badly)

9. Anne Elliot/Captain Wentworth (Persuasion)

Former sweethearts, now awkwardly meeting again after nearly a decade! Wentworth so badly wanting Anne to see that he’s DOING FINE DOING GREAT ACTUALLY HE’S A CAPTAIN NOW AND EVERYTHING, while Anne is just sad about the entire thing. Thankfully, Wentworth sees how competent Anne is, and also that them splitting up 10 years ago was probably right, but they manage to find their way to each other again!

10. Sherlock Holmes/John Watson

Yes, you’ll note how I’m using the old Jeremy Brett version and not the BBC Sherlock version, because honestly, Sherlock doesn’t have the same characterization of the original books, besides not knowing how to resolve a plotline. Anyway, the original detective and assistant duo! Got to love them and how long they’ve endured through the years.

Iwaizumi: A dinner party with our closest friends. So the Seijoh 4 and my besties. We'd cook, of course, but probably splurge to have one or two people to serve food so we can enjoy the time with our friends. Iwa would want something small and easy with the people he cares about the most. There's a twist to this one, too. It's actually a party to celebrate our engagement which before dessert. Iwa is also the type to only host a party for an important reason.

Bokuto: A superbowl party. He's so the type to be into all sports. Like, yeah, volleyball is his favorite but he likes them at all and he'd so love the superbowl. He'd order so much food because you know all of MSBY is going to be invited as well as Kuroo, Akaashi, Tsukki, Kenma and Yams (because friends by association). Literally everyone. And you know those boys can eat, especially the pro players. So there's gonna be ribs, steak, burgers, hot dogs, pigs in a blanket, nachos, popcorn, chips and dips, chips on their own for days. He's absolutely gonna set up a projector and speakers in the backyard so people can also enjoy games like cornhole or football or volleyball. And of course there's gonna be every type of drink and more, but especially beer.

Mattsun: A superstition themed halloween party. He's gonna go all out on the decorations and food. mini graveyard in the front and zombie decor. Might even hire actors to jump scare people. He's gonna have appetizers like peeled eyeballs (peeled grapes), and brains (noodles), make witches fingers cookies and just every halloween themed treat and food you can think of is there. Drinks are gonna be served in cauldron whether it's punch or a sherbert customized drink called witches brew or just soda and beer cans and water in a cauldron filled with ice for grabbing. Will absolutely have fog machines at the entrance and on the drink table and many other places. Costumes are required. We'll be in a couples costume as either your generic vampires or Buffy and Spike.

Osamu: Also gonna be a low-key party. Will likely just invite Atsumu, Suna, Kita, Aran, and then who I want to invite. Might include Bokuto, Hinata, Omi, and Meian because Atsumu extended the invite. It's gonna be a game night party. We're gonna play apples to apples and cards against humanity because those are good for a lot of people. There will be lots of pizza and beer and soda. It'll be chaos but so fun. There will also be chips. For minimal/one type of food and significantly less people than Kuroo's, Bokuto's, and Mattsun's, the place is a mess when the party is over and people are gonna crash there because I kinda imagine they'll get a little or a lot drunk and it's the safest thing to do. This one would be the most chaotic because of the beer and the games played, specifically CAH. - 🐱‍🐉

Kuroo: OH crap. I was thinking Toru and I can take you and Kuroo no problem. We'll just replicate the Gatsby movie party scene. All the dancers, the exaggerated decors, flapper dresses, but then you said its a murder mystery twist? Girl, just go. You two win

Bo: UM HECK YEAH. SUPERBOWL PARTIES ARE THE BEST. I don't even watch football, but I show up at almost every Super Bowl party bc of the FOOD. I love the whole vibe you've described.
