REVERSE TROPE WRITING PROMPT BY @out-of-jams
TOO MANY BEDS
DCXDP, GEN
——
The Wayne foundation was a giant in the corporate world. What made it impressive was that their company was based in Gotham where, despite or perhaps in spite of the frequent rogue attacks and general hostile environment, the Waynes managed to run a tight and efficient ship. Their operations run extremely smoothly.
However, that was not to say there were no mistakes. There were. Wayne Enterprises usually had enough-more than enough- budget to cover such mistakes.
The employees, after all, were humans (though their new CEO, Timothy Drake, might have been a vampire considering how pale he was) and were prone to make mistakes.
Thus, due to the nature of human mistakes, the visiting senior class of Amity Park’s Casper High found themselves in a rather baffling situation.
“Well, we can’t say there’s not enough beds.” Their chaperone-teacher, Mr. Lancer rubbed the back of his bald head.
Before them laid not ten, not twenty, but fifty five twin beds arranged in neat rows in Gotham Academy’s auditorium.
“What is this, the military?” Their other chaperone-teacher, Mr. Falluca, grumbled.
“It’s not like we haven’t slept in worse places.” Sam grimaced. The class collective shuddered as they remembered the junior camping trip from hell.
“Ugh, my hair is going to get frizzy if we sleep here.” Paulina muttered.
“I thought we were getting called here for cheer or something.” Star frowned. Her boyfriend of four years, Kwan, slung an arm around her shoulders and pulled her closer to comfort her.
The doors open as a harried Wayne Industries employee ran in.
“I am so, so sorry! This isn’t where we were supposed to have you stay but WE mistook the donation request and sent in beds instead of paying for hotel rooms!” They blurted out, looking panicked. “Your hosting class - we’ll have you meet them outside, maybe?”
“It’s fine, right guys?” Danny spoke up, arms crossed. Tucker hummed at his side, tapping quickly at his
“Yeah, whatever Fentina says,” Dash grumbled. After the reveal of Danny’s identity as Phantom, his hostility and bullying died a quick death. Though, Dash kept the nicknames as they were a hard habit to kick and there weren’t any malicious intent behind it. In fact, Dash quickly became one of Danny’s biggest supporters, hidden behind scowls and general posturing.
“We could just meet in here. Get rid of the bedframes and just have a giant sleepover while you guys get everything sorted out.” Valerie volunteered.
“That’s a great idea!”
The class, coordinated from years of ghost attacks, quickly assembled the giant floor mattress. Gotham Academy’s senior class filed in ten minutes later, gaping at the giant floor mattress(es) before whooping and joining Casper High’s seniors in tumbling around.
——
Danny threw an empty plastic water bottle at Kwan’s head.
“Hey! No PDA on the giant mattress!”
“Yeah, get that love shit out of here!” Someone else hollered.
“There might technically be only one bed, now, but it’s still multiple mattresses!” Stephanie Brown, one of Gotham Academy’s seniors heckled.
“Hey, Danny, it’s your turn for truth or dare!” Tim said.
“Truth.” Danny returned.
“Lameeee.”
“C’mon Fenturd, too chicken to do dare?”
“Danny, that’s so boring,” Sam smirked.
Danny scowled. “Hey, whose side are you on?”
Sam and Tucker grinned and said in unison, “The winning side, duh.”
Tim cut in. “So, what’s the worst thing that’s happened to you?”
Danny groaned. “Camping trip, no contest.”
“Camping trip?”

I’m loving your production breakdown posts, they are so interesting and insightful.
I think you mentioned it maybe in the first ep breakdown but it was about expenses. I just thought it was interesting in ep4 when JK mentioned at the chicken place, paying in cash, and he solely has this conversation with Tae, not Jimin. Would there be an arrangement do you think? Or was that scene cut and he’d have asked Jimin too? I’ve noticed in comparison to Bv where they were usually only allowed a certain amount of money between them, with one usually being in control, or a sum for a task, in AYS, Jimin and JK have been whipping out their cards, be it their own or a company card, in Big Dicks store, in Walmart etc.
I just found it interesting
Hi anon,
The finance bits are interesting in the most boring corporate sense if that makes any sense. 😅 Trust me on this. Let's dive in:
In my opinion, it really boils down to two concerns: taxes and sponsorships. Taxes to insure the company receives every possible benefit for every dollar they spend. Sponsorships because some brands can have fussy rules about how individuals interact with their product and especially any competitor's products while they have an active agreement.
Obviously I have no actual insight onto how the finances and budget were managed for any of these specific shows and I know absolutely nothing of the intricacies of taxes in South Korea but in the US, there are many regulations when it comes to how companies can claim expenditures for tax breaks.
Every company that has had me travel for work has gone to a lot of trouble to insure that I was aware of exactly all of the requirements on my part regarding expenditures. I'm 100% sure all of the BTS members are aware of their requirements as well so I don't particularly think there's any motive other than as a cute convo for the moment between JK and V. Imo, the only reason it made it to the final cut was JKs endearing tone in his response.
Let's go through some examples though:
Receipts: in both AYS and Bon Voyage, we see the members be very specific in getting Receipts. JM and JK talk about it as they're leaving Walmart. In BV, it's all of the shenanigans with the money pouch they acquired in Malta and continued using in New Zealand. This is usually documentation required for any operation that's going to be claimed as a business expense for tax purposes.
Personal Spending: off the top of my head I can think of several clear instances where we know that the members are using their own money for purchases we see them make on the shows. In Run BTS ep.70 in Toronto, JK pays for the member's clothing purchases himself. In BV4, JM pays for the member's clothing himself a couple of times (remember the drama of his lost wallet? 😅)
Budget as Content: BV 1 & 2 mostly only include finances as part of the game-ification of the show. The members had to earn money as an allowance for the activities and determine the best ways to spend it. (I do vaguely remember some members wanting to negotiate for more when buying souvenirs? Was that just in the extra scenes? It's been so long, I've been holding off on rewatching until I'm done with my Run series).
Thankfully, the success of BTS has basically nixed the budget games. I think the last time we saw something like this were the Run episodes of a hotel staycation? But the prices were ficticious and not necessarily about real-world spending but rather determining the secret number to not exceed. (If I'm misremembering and there are more recent examples, please share!) Imo, it would just be too tone-deaf to continue portraying the members in that context. I know we all joke about them being broke millionaires, but there's a reason why celebrity game shows always make it clear that the money involved is for charity.
Anyway, back to AYS, the interesting bit to me is wondering about the inclusion of Taehyung from a budget standpoint. How was that reconciled? None of us can possibly know the answer, but it's interesting to think about. Some costs wouldn't have changed at all with one extra participant, like the house rental, or booking the climbing gym or yacht tour. But there were a few extra concessions, getting the extra mattress likely was more a logistics headache on short notice rather than an impact to the budget. And most Korean meals are served family-style so there honestly isn't a huge difference cost-wise. Except maybe the omakase. That I can imagine was noticeably more expensive with an added individual.
But really, the most expensive item per person would likely have been travel. Did someone say Tae was already in Jeju prior to filming? If he wasn't, did the show cover his flights like they would have JK, JM, and the crew? Or is the budget on these shows big enough that it was just another drop in a bucket? Also, the intent likely was for JK to zip around on the motorbike and JM to be on the scooter. I'm curious if they weren't logistically able to get another such vehicle with the short notice or if the budget/sponsorship constraint didn't allow for a third one the day. Or it could be that the scooter exists because of the 3 member count and production thought one of them could be JKs backpack. That bike has the space for it. But perhaps the difficulty to get coverage and/or converse wasn't appealing. Or maybe there just wasn't a third radio-enabled helmet prepared?
I know the various shippers are using this in their arguments. I'd like to firmly state that I am not building a case for either side here. Go do that on your own and leave me out of it. Lol.
There are so many questions and it's interesting to theorize how the finances could have impacted the development of the show. Maybe we'll get some more insight with the remaining episodes and bonus footage but I doubt it. Finances don't usually make for engaging content.
Thanks again for the ask! It's one of the points I want to discuss when I start doing my BV and ITS posts but who knows when that will be!

Helluva Boss/Hazbin Hotel corporate AU:
Wrote this AU with some friends last night and it was too good not to share publically:
Hell is replaced with a massive afterlife based corporation called 'Hell Inc' that handles the production, distribution, and management of all the various types of evil in the world; while also acting as the largest employeer of damned souls in existence and a direct competitor to Heaven LLC.
The company is headed by it's Chief Pride Officer and founder, Lucifer Morningstar, beneath him is the company's Vice President Charlie Morningstar after the former VP retired and disappeared under odd circumstances. Charlie has been trying (and failing) to get the company in some semblance of order and addressing the horrible working conditions that arose as a result of her father's near endless apathy and depression stemming from a millennia of accumulated burnout.
Below them are the six members of Hell inc's board of directors who run the various company departments:
Mammon, Chief Greed Officer (CGRO) and head of the greed department. Which manages the company finances as well as several financial institutions on earth like Banks and Casinos
Beelzebub, Chief Gluttony Officer (CGLO) and head of the gluttony department. They run Hell Inc's marketing campaigns and manages several fast food chains in the human world such as Bee Burger
Asmodeus, Chief Lust Officer (CLO) and head of the lust department. They run Hell inc's production lines in the underworld and various media conglomerates on earth.
Satan, Chief Wrath Officer (CWO) and head of the wrath department. Which handles all security related matters along with war and conflict in the human world, primarily arms manufacturers
Leviathan, Chief Envy Officer (CEO) and head of the Envy department. Which runs Hell Inc's research and development and various construction ventures on earth
And Belphagor, Chief Sloth Officer (CSO) and head of the Sloth department. Which is in charge of all health related company matters along with various hospitals and insurance companies on earth.
Each has their own unique management problems and while they once worked in tandem, which has resulted in a slough of issues from a lack of individual oversight. Such as Greed's severe budget cuts, Envy's ridiculously long working hours coupled with high standards, and employees in Wrath that spend more time arguing than getting things done.
Beneath them are the middle managers, the Ars Goetia, but they're among some of the most useless members of the company. Holding nothing more than figurehead positions to create the illusion of a centralized hierarchy when in reality they just pass their work onto the various supervisors within each department. Recent hire Stella is particularly bad in this way as the only reason she has the position at all was due to the nepotism provided by her brother Andrephelus who works alongside her in the Envy department.
(the only exception is Lust's middle manager Stolas)
Then we have the supervisors, the actual managers of the department divisions who occupy the role of authority figure that the Ars Goetia fail to fill themselves. Notable supervisors include:
Crimson Knolastname: Greed department supervisor overseeing most organized crime with a focus on blackmail activities
Wally Wackford: Greed department supervisor in charge of scams and white collar crimes.
Verosika Mayday: Lust department supervisor and PR manager for the department
Fizzarolli: originally an intern in greed, he was later transferred over to Lust and supervises the roleplay and costume divisions of the lust department
Vortex: the primary event coordinator for the Gluttony department along with new employee orientation
Striker: Wrath department supervisor, handling any and all matters relating to mercenary work and assassinations
Joe and Lin: Wrath department supervisors, the former managing the hand to hand combat division while the latter runs the in house medical center and trains all Wrath Department employees in battlefield aid.
And last but not least are all the rank and file employees that makeup Hell inc's primary workforce. They're usually sorted by species: Baphomets work for the Sloth Department, Imps work for the Wrath department, Succubi and Incubi work for the Lust department, etc. However this is only for their initial probational period, if their skills prove to be more suitable elsewhere in the company then can be transferred into another department.
With one exception: Pride. The department in charge of processing all damned souls at the time of death and general evil relations in the human world
The Pride department is the largest and most chaotic of all of Hell Inc's departments, it's facing an ever increasing workload that it struggles to manage and even with the steady flow of Sinners rolling in to fill vacancies the department is constantly short staffed. So not only are sinners forbidden from being transferred to other departments, but any hellborn that get transferred in Never. Ever. Leave. Getting assigned to the Pride Department is basically a life sentence and it doesn't help that the department itself has basically gained a reputation as a dumping ground for misfit employees that can't properly function in any other department.
To make matters worse, while the other departments have some level of rules and standards when it comes to employee conduct. The Pride Department is left in almost total disarray thanks to every supervisor in the department being blood thirsty corporate climbers who are constantly screwing one another over to gain more recognition in the overall company. The supervisors affectionately nicknamed the Vees: Velvette (social media manager), Vox (IT supervisor), and Valentino (employee recruitment manager) are the absolute worst when it comes to this backstabbing.
However, the biggest problem facing the Pride department is none other than the man eaters in the Demon Resources division. Ran by two supervisors known as Rosie and Alastor, the former handling employee disputes while the later is in charge of terminating employee contracts...and employees. If you get called into Alastor's office, that's usually the last anyone hears of you. The rest of HR isn't much better either as they all tend to be of a similar temperament to their supervisors.
But for all it's mess, VP Charlie genuinely believes she can clean up the company one department at a time; starting with the Pride Department. With the backing of both her father and the HR rep Alastor, she's assembled a solid team of employees willing to help her with the task.
And by that I mean employees that were voluntold to help her:
Husk, former supervisor in charge of managing Hell inc's gambling holdings that had been partially outsourced from Greed's own workers. Alastor had personally handled his demotion after it was found the cat demon had been skimming off the top.
Vaggie, the head of the security division of the Pride Department and Charlie's girlfriend. The rumors of her rise to power via nepotism are matched only by the rumors that she transferred in from Hell inc's rival company, Heaven LLC
Angel, a rank and file employee of pride with no particular specialization who's working directly under Val. He claims he's only on board with Charlie's plan in hopes of getting a promotion, but it's rather obvious he really just wants to get away from his current boss by any means necessary
Sir Pentious, part of the R&D team and widely considered to be one of the worst researchers in the entire company due to the numerous cases of collateral damage he's caused. Charlie's project is not only his last chance to avoid getting a pink slip for both his job and his life, but also to get the professional recognition he so desperately craves
Niffty, once a member of the janitorial team. Nobody knows where she came from or how long she's been working her, only that she's some what of an oddity even by Hell inc standards. The only thing that's certain about her is that she's an employee you should give a wide berth to if you value your personal safety
Meanwhile in the Pride department, a small little clique has formed of low level demons that have transferred in from other departments and work in the revenge division:
Blitzo, the supervisor of the division who's quite skilled at falling upwards. He is completely and utterly incompetent at his job, choosing instead to slack off with the toy ponies he spends his salary on or flirt/sexually harass his coworkers rather than actually performing any administrative duties. The only reason he still has his job is likely due to a 'friend' he has in middle management that keeps covering for him.
Moxxie, an accounting intern that transferred in from greed after a disastrous project with now ex-employee Chaz that resulted in massive losses for the greed department, causing Mammon to dump the 'useless' imp into the Pride department. Usually the one doing Blitzo's job for him, very begrudgingly I might add, and frequently grumbles about his station but secretly enjoys the group he's found. Especially his wife...
Millie, a security guard transferred from Wrath after several complaints in regards to 'excessive force' were leveled against her. Luckily she's adjusted quite well to her new position in the Pride Department even if she tends to drift under the radar more often than not, but she remains optimistic that she'll get a worthwhile promotion someday. In the meantime, she makes use of her spare time tending to her weapon collection or having sexual encounters with her husband around the office; away from most prying eyes
Loona, one of Hell inc's newest hires. Originally slated to be an intern in the Gluttony department, her attitude problems forced Beelzebub to personally see to it that the hound was relocated to a position in the Pride Department for both her own safety and that of her coworkers. Takes after her supervisors slacker tendencies in an apathetic way, spending practically every waking moment glued to her phone, much to Moxxie's frustration.
And that's the lot of the company! We hope you enjoy your stay at Hell Inc! Remember: Today is the first day of your eternal life....
(P.S. you didn't hear this from me, but rumor has it that Heaven LLC has been experiencing plenty of problems of it's own. Such as poor leadership, communication issues, and nepotism even worse than anything seen at Hell Inc. And there's even a few sources that claim that former VP Lilith was seen on their board of directors, but you know how people like to talk.)

What You Deserve
Sum: Things get complicated when a case turns into a weekend away. Alcohol is consumed and flirtatious comments leads to...
⚠️ - Sex is mentioned, alcohol consumption, drinking, teasing.. nothing too salacious... yet.
It was always a shame that when you got a case in such a beautiful city, you never got to see the nice side of it. Especially when the hotel was actually decent for a change with a wonderful swimming pool. The team had wrapped up the case quicker than usual and the hotel had the rooms booked for another few days, the only problem was the Agency. They were always the problem.
“What is the point of having our own private jet if we can’t keep it for a few more days and enjoy a well deserved weekend off?” You’d been trying to reason with the higher ups for almost an hour now. Emily tried first, company money and time, they insisted and then you tried. You didn’t have enough pull as Emily did but you were more persistent.
Annoyingly so.
‘We need the jet back in-‘
“Why? It is this team’s personal jet. Who needs it back, when we are all here? We would be using the same amount of fuel..”
Emily was on her third tequila sunrise watching you with amusement. The others had dispersed around the bar, dancing or chatting with the locals. She had hung back to keep you under control but that was before she started drinking half an hour ago.
There was no more arguing with you.
‘It has been over an hour. I don’t know the time where you are, but I want to go home. Have the jet for two more days, fine. You can explain it on the budget next month.’
You smirked and Emily was shocked. “Oh I don’t have to deal with the budget, thanks.” And you hung up, much to Emily’s now new frustration.
“What about the bud-get?!” She was the one having to fill out those reports and give lengthy reasonings about where and why they used their budget.
You shrugged, “This will be put up for questioning next budget review I guess.” Your amusement growing more and more as Emily’s dwindled.
“Those meetings are already hell… This better be worth it.” She grumbled, sipping her drink.
“Just think –“ You paused, she glared at you over the glass. “- Or don’t, that works too.” You held up your hands and backed away, heading for the bar.
You informed the team that you’d secured the weekend for everyone to stay at the hotel. Only issue was you were bunked with Emily for another two nights. That wasn’t really a big issue. There were thankfully two beds to your saving grace but still being in a confined space with her for long periods of time was testing your will power. Not to mention her short sleep shorts.
Usually you managed to bunk with Reid or JJ but this time they got their own rooms and Emily made the call to take one for the team… Meaning bunking with you. Much to everyone’s amusement bar your own. Night one was fine, you were too tired to care. Now you were on night five and alcohol was involved, your will powerful was absolutely drained and Emily was drunk.
When you made it back to the table Emily and JJ were sitting at, you could see more empty glasses which meant she was onto her fifth cocktail.
“Think it’s time to cut you off.” You laughed at her instant frown. “Ok, stand up without swaying and hop on one leg.”
She instantly got up but JJ held on, her hand gripping her shoulder for balance. “This isn’t fair.”
You laughed watching her struggle to lift one foot even with JJ helping her. “Sit down Em.” You sighed, shaking your head.
.. >< ..
The night carried on. To Emily’s delight you didn’t cut her off which was your mistake. Now you were the one helping her walk back to the room. Her feet tripping over themselves which made it extremely difficult to walk let alone stand.
“You’re such a light weight.” You chuckled as she stumbled and leant more on you. “Jesus.” Her arm wrapping around your waist for a second to gain balance.
“Hey. Girls gotta let loose - once in a while.” She hiccupped and regained some balance, removing her hand from your waist.
Thankfully, you reached the room and got her inside and onto the bed. Her drunken smile watching you move around room. The heavy lifting was over, although now you had the task of helping her out of her clothes before she passed out. You handed her a glass of water and she drank it. Your mind going a million miles an hour, you weren’t far off being drunk yourself.
“You’re good at this.” She mumbled, giggled when your fingers tickled the bottom of her feet taking off her shoes. “Not asking permission before you undress me…” She quirked an eyebrow with a smirk. Even wasted Emily could pull off that look.
The thoughts running through your head weren’t innocent when she looked at you like that from this position on your knees in front of her. “Please, I’d be far more seductive undressing you if sex was on the table.” Your eyes slammed closed, and you wanted to hit your head against a brick wall.
“Who said it wasn’t.” She snickered. Not at all regretting flirting with you when you looked like this.
This woman was going to be the death of you. “Do you want help or not?” You looked up at her, legs hanging off the end of the bed where you plopped her, hair a mess, shirt twisted but somehow, she was still the most beautiful woman you’d ever seen.
“Is sex on the table if I say yes or no?”
“Emily.” You warned and she sighed.
“You’re no fun when drunk. Yes, can I please have help, don’t think I can stand up without it.” She laughed, attempting to stand up but she couldn’t get the momentum. “Nope.”
“Here.” You grabbed her hand and with a bit of momentum on her part, you managed to stand her up. Her hand fell from yours and rested on your waist. “Don’t.” Her hand didn’t listen, it went on exploring and snuck under your top. It took all your will power not to moan at the touch.
“I’m sorry I shouldn’t-“ Something must’ve clicked in her drunken brain because she instantly retracted her hand from your skin. She shook her head, trying to shake away the thoughts, the alcohol was melting away her walls and rules.
“Hey,-“ You were soft, your hand coming up to cup her cheek and draw her eyes back to you. “Let me help you, then I’ll get you another glass of water and tuck you in.” You threw in a wink and a smile to calm her beating heart and it worked. It didn’t help your racing heart after her touch and how she was looking at you, but she needed help right now and your feelings took a back seat for now.
There was a quick nod and you proceeded to unbutton her shirt and take it off then you helped her undo her trousers. Nothing was said between you, both of you silent and breathy controlling your impure thoughts. You’d never get the image of her in her underwear out of your head and you didn’t want to.
She sat back down on the bed and curled up under the covers.
“I’ll be right back.” You brushed her hair out of her face and swore you heard her purr at the touch.
The bathroom was a saving grace, you took a minute to settle your nerves. Undressing Emily took all your will power, touching her skin was intoxicating and you worked quick as not to wonder. She didn’t seem to mind but then in her state she did put sex on the table. You shook your head and filled up a glass of water for her.
She passed out almost right away after you tucked her in. You made sure she drank the water before falling asleep then you got ready for bed. It was late so sleep came easy but your dreams had you squirming.
The sun didn’t wake you but the sound of someone puking did. Your eyes flickered open and there it was again. Last night quickly came back to you and you shot out of bed. “Em!”
“Don’t come in here!” She quickly flicked the door and it slammed shut in your face.
“Come on. I can hold your hair up at least.”
“No!” She yelled before throwing up again. “Why didn’t you stop me from drinking?!” She coughed and flushed the toilet. Her head hadn’t felt this bad since her late teen years.
You shook your head and leant back against the wall. “Oh gee, like I could stop you, I suggested it five drinks in. You had other ideas.” There was the tap and you heard her brushing her teeth so you walked back to bed. “You’re cut off from drinking for the rest of the weekend though.” You grumbled and flopped back into bed, your head wasn’t feeling that great either.
“Excuse me?” Her hands were on her hips as your rolled over to look. “Did you suddenly become miss boss over night?”
“Fine, drink. Go sleep in Morgan’s room, he might take you up on the sex offer you so readily gave out to me last night.” Your words did the exact thing they intended, she blanched.
Her hands fell from her sides, one came up to cradle her forehead. “I didn’t... did I? You’re screwing with me, right?”
“Pretty sure you were the one wanting to be screwed...” You couldn’t believe you were having this conversation and before coffee too.
She walked over to your bed. “I’m sorry I di- I’m sorry.”
The fact that she stopped herself from retracting the statement had you perplexed, and you rolled over onto your side. Thankfully you had the sheet pulled up over your waist because her hand came out and rested on your hip.
“Thank you for being my saviour.” Her thumb rubbed circles over the sheet.
“Always, now is sex still on the table or is that just a drunk Emily thing?” You got a shove for that and you both laughed. “Drunk Emily. Got it.” Two could play at the teasing game.
She shook her head and walked back over to her bed. “You’re something else.” Her back was to you so she could hide the massive blush all over her face. “Might rest up a bit before showing my face at breakfast.”
“It’s only early, go back to sleep. I’ll wake you before breakfast is over.”
You set your alarm to wake you both up later, thankfully, because you drifted back into your dreams. Dreams where Emily made good on her drunken wishes. The beeping woke you up before it got really good, and you groaned.
An amused Emily was perched on her elbow looking at you. “Good dream?”
Her amused smirk gave away that she’d woken up before the alarm and heard you in your sleep. The blush started to heat up your cheeks. “Might’ve been.” You sheepishly looked away from her daring gaze and hopped out of bed. “Breakfast time.”
“Oh, I took the liberty of ordering us room service, I hope you don’t mind.”
You just shrugged, yawning as you walked to the bathroom and away from her inquisitive gaze.
“Got time for a quickie if you get back in bed.”
You almost walked into the bathroom door at her words.
She must’ve heard the oomph sound because you could hear her laugh before she clarified. “A quick nap.”
“Yeah sure, that’s what you meant.” Sexually frustrated you was beginning to show, “You had your chance.” You said as you turned on the tap and splashed your face, trying to wake up quicker.
There was shuffling from the room. “Was thinking after breakfast we could go down to the pool. Morgan texted and said him and JJ were hitting the bar later –“
“No bar!”
She chuckled, “Oh there will be bar but no tequila, I think I’ve finally learnt my lesson with that one.” She watched you as you padded around the room, looking anywhere but at her. The fact that she’d woken up at the first alarm you’d set but quickly hit snooze and stayed awake to hear you moan her name had her legs twitching. Plus, the memories from last night were flooding back, the look you gave her had her wishing she hadn’t been that intoxicated and followed through.
You grabbed your clothes for the day, opting to put your bikini on underneath to save time later. As you were getting changed and thinking of anything to get your mind of Emily in bed, the room service arrived. It smelt amazing. Emily was perched at the small table with two plates of everything you could want from the buffet.
“This looks amazing.”
“I’m hoping it’ll settle my raging hangover.” She chomped on a hashbrown.
Breakfast was spent in silence, both of you were too hungry to carry any further banter. Although you could feel her eyes on you. A text notification broke the silence and it was Penelope wondering where you two were. They were already pool side. Another text came through and it was of Morgan sipping a drink in the pool. If you were straight that would be a site to see but it did nothing for you.
“Guess I better slip into something for the pool.” She winked as she hopped up from the table.
You prayed she had her back turned before the blush tinged your face as your brain was going ballistic with images of Emily in a bikini although your brain didn’t need to imagine for too long.
A few minutes later she walked out of the bathroom in just a red bikini and the beach towel wrapped around her waist. Why was it always red?
“You coming?”
You realised you had been staring for far too long and she had a very amused smirk on her face. “Be right down.” You needed a moment to cool off but even that wouldn’t happen.
She was in the pool by the time you got down and sat beside Penelope. “I think I need a drink.” You grumbled to an amused Garcia. Your eyes hadn’t left Emily’s body as she ducked underwater.
“Morgan, get Y/N a strong drink!” She shouted from her seat over to Morgan at the bar. He just smirked in response and relayed your order to the bartender. “Best way to cure a hangover, keep drinking.”
Before you could get the relief of alcohol, Emily popped up at the pools edge. “Don’t make me get out and pull you in.”
Your brain went fuzzy before Penelope shoved your shoulder. “Go. She’ll make us both wet.”
You wanted to punch the cute blonde for that remark but thankfully Morgan handed you your drink before anyone could do anything.
“Don’t think I wont push you in with a drink in hand.”
“Come on, shes practically begging you. If only I got that sort of attention from-“
“Hey!” Garcia shoved Morgan.
“Sorry baby girl.” He grinned and kissed her forehead.
You took a long swig of your drink and stood up, unwrapping the towel from around your waist. It took all your will power to avoid Emily’s eyes as you walked up to the pool. You could feel her eyes on you as you walked around and found the steps.
Was it to delay the process and for her to check you out? Absolutely.
You had no idea where this confidence was coming from but you held onto it, diving under the water and going up the opposite end to where she was.
“She’s playing dirty. I knew I liked her.” Morgan chuckled and got a raised eyebrow from Emily. “Oh, she’s all yours. I know better.” He smirked, watching Emily swim towards you. “This could be trouble."
Pen just grinned. “They deserve each other.”
They laughed and continued to not so subtly watch this play out. “I’m so glad we got the weekend off.” Derek smirked.
. . . . . . . . .
Let me know what you think, unsure how quickly updates will come. Most of it is written just needs to be edited. I dislike editing so comments and positivity will help ;)

I'm so f'ing tired...
I spent boxing day putting out bushfires at work, trying to get people to not be so dickish. Because holidays/hollow days, am I rite?
The next day drove down to Warrenton to one of our bigger and totally different plants at 4 am and it was like a breath of fresh air. Proactive management, people taking charge, cross-role training, motivated management, NO SILOING!!!!!!, just a really committed organization that was awesome to experience and to pick their brains. . The company put me up in a hotel looking right out on the Columbia River, it was stormy, I ate brilliant Udon(all 6 bites of it, both times!!!), and learned so much.
-The plant director said, "now I know that this might feel like we are giving you a lot of information", to which I replied, "yeah, kinda like drinking water from a fire hose", and he laughed. But it was true, eventhough it was great info and I feel like have a better footing for my job and the changes expected of us...and then I drove back to reality, on Friday afternoon.
- And then, on my drive home(or should I say, back to the last few shifts at my old job), i got hit with my new reality: somebody thinks its a great idea to maybe produc3 product on new years day. Think I can get a crew together for new years day? Lol, probably not. But hey, let's do the exact opposite of what I just experienced for the past 3 days. Let's just blow our budgets for labour and sales out of the water. Our customers, quite a few of which you all know and love, aren't going to take the product for days as it is, so why spend the extra $$$ and the employee good will for no reason? The fight starts now, apparently.
Oh, and I'm at my old employer for 2 last night shifts on security. After next week, we are going to be neck deep in product for a few weeks. Then it's s brief lull, and onto the next season and it's set of problems. I swear, if I make it 18 months there, I will have served my purpose and earned my glow-up. It's time for a change, and with my degree it's my first test. C's get degrees, right? Lol
Anyhow, yall doing OK? Much love you yall, and thanks for helping me stay sane. These next 3 weeks are gonna be fun...

The Hidden Costs of Moving: What to Watch Out For
Moving to a new home can be an exciting adventure, but it often comes with hidden costs that can catch you off guard. Understanding these potential expenses and planning for them can help you manage your moving budget more effectively. Here’s a guide to the hidden costs of moving and how to keep them under control.
1. Packing Supplies
While many people think of packing as a straightforward task, the costs of packing supplies can add up quickly. Boxes, bubble wrap, packing tape, and other materials are essential for protecting your belongings during transit. If you’re moving a large household, these costs can be significant. To save money, consider sourcing used boxes from local businesses or friends, and opt for reusable packing materials.
2. Professional Packing Services
If you decide to hire professional packers, this service can add a considerable amount to your moving budget. Packing services often include a range of tasks, from carefully wrapping fragile items to disassembling furniture. Be sure to get a detailed quote and understand what’s included in the service to avoid unexpected charges. For a reliable and comprehensive packing service, consider referral moving companies like Assureshift, MoveMyGhar, which can help you manage these costs effectively.
3. Moving Insurance
While most moving companies offer basic coverage for your belongings, it’s often limited. If you have valuable or sentimental items, you may need to purchase additional moving insurance to ensure they are fully protected. This extra layer of coverage can prevent you from facing significant out-of-pocket expenses in case of damage or loss.
4. Temporary Housing Costs
In some cases, you might need to stay in temporary housing if there’s a gap between your move-out and move-in dates. These costs can include renting a short-term apartment or staying in a hotel, which can add to your moving expenses. Plan ahead to avoid these costs or find ways to minimize them.
6. Unforeseen Costs
During a relocation, unforeseen expenses may occur, including sudden changes of plans, unexpected delays, or additional charges for weighty or oversized items. It is advisable to establish an emergency fund to mitigate financial tension and address these unexpected expenses.
7. Storage Costs
If you need to store your belongings temporarily before your new home is ready, storage fees can add up. Storage costs vary depending on the size of the unit and the length of time you need it. Plan for these costs in advance and look for cost-effective storage solutions.
8. Professional Moving Services
While hiring a moving company can streamline the process, the cost can vary widely depending on the company and the services provided. Companies like MoveMyGhar offer comprehensive moving solutions that can help manage and minimize these hidden costs. Be sure to get multiple quotes and understand what’s included to make an informed decision.
Conclusion
By being aware of these hidden costs and planning accordingly, you can better manage your moving budget and avoid any financial surprises. Moving can be a complex process, but with careful preparation and a clear understanding of potential expenses, you can make your transition to a new home smoother and more cost-effective.

Todd Haynes on the Visual Style of Velvet Goldmine
OM: In writing the script, were you afraid that the strong visual style of the film would overwhelm the characters to the point of pushing them to the background and having the film be about its film-making?
TH: I think the film succeeds in exploring the way stylistic tropes and conventions of expression can be taken to an extreme point of self-conscious, ironic, highly theatrical, highly worked presentation without losing emotion - but I'm still not really sure how it works. And yet it's been the thing that I've been drawn to in all my films; Superstar is the best, cleanest example of that. And I completely agree with you that the doll scene in Velvet Goldmine - which is definitely a homage to myself (somebody's got to do it) - does represent the film as a whole, and maybe in the most complete way. A lot of it has to do with the game of laughing and feeling aware of the construct - in a fun way, not in a Brechtian, didactic way. There's humor in glam rock, there's irony and wit, and it's often about its own point of address; it's often about the presentation, the inherent artificiality of our so-called natural world. And yet it ends up being very moving with its rhythm, its meter, its color. And that's something I was going to try to do with this film.
What is so hard about narrative, and our current traditions - which don't even include the musical any longer - or the codified, highly stylized pop culture of the past, is how to avoid the Hollywood gloss - which only gets glossier as budgets soar - as well as the indie gritty "realism" we accept today. So directing this film was all about taking it to a new stylized, self-conscious, artificial extreme, without losing the good old-fashioned emotional connection to the characters. It was the hardest thing about the project, but it was the one thing I demanded from myself throughout the process.
What I really found dangerous about the many aesthetic styles and stylistic choices was the risk of alienating the characters by removing a naturalistic definition from scenes. And yet I find the "Press Soiree" - the scene where everyone's in the gold costumes, which culminates in some strange circus/opera house - is rooted in a more "real" space. And the irony is that this artifice, this scene, comes from something that really happened, that was pushed about as far into the surreal as you could possibly imagine. The scene came from the time when the MainMan management company assembled itself in London, flying over a handful of US critics to introduce the Ziggy Stardust tour. I think it was at the Dorchester Hotel in London where Bowie, Lou Reed and Iggy Pop posed all day long. Bowie changed costumes maybe four times, they served champagne and caviar and fresh strawberries, and everyone literally performed themselves: Iggy played the junky on the floor; Lou Reed played the snide American who is smitten with Bowie; and Bowie played the duchess of the entire event. It was a completely constructed theatrical performance that took place in real life, and so it didn't take that much more imagination on my part to push it to the extremes I did in the film. I kept defining the characters all the time so they wouldn't get lost in the grandeur of it all.
OM: That grandeur, the visual language of the film, is incredibly rich and textured. You use what seems to be a huge arsenal of visual tools. Your cinematic vocabulary (zoom-ins and outs, swish pans, fades, dissolves, superimposition, rack focus, etc.), your use of color (saturated, glittering, bleached, faded, etc.), the use of different genre conventions (the biopic, promo film, documentary, melodrama, musical, period piece, mystery, etc.), and your many choices of lighting styles and camera angles, among other things, create a wonderful sense of serious fun.
TH: A lot of those stylistic decisions came out of a focus on the way film-making styles have changed over the last thirty years. I looked at how so many of the visual motifs in those youth experience movies I mentioned before [like 2001, Clockwork Orange, and Nicolas Roeg's Performance] as well as in some of the best movies of the early seventies - Robert Altman's work, Coppola's and others - have disappeared from our canvases. At that time there was a climate of experimentation with lenses and zooms: they preferred long lenses as opposed to wide lenses. It literally led to an appreciation of the grain of cinema - what isn't completely clear and completely available to an objective assessment. So I wanted to get back to that. I also had a nasty desire to break rules that were deemed tacky, to reintroduce all the potentially hokey devices that have gone out of style. I wanted all that fun stuff to become commonplace in the overall style of the film and then for it to be highly sutured with music, voice-over, and fractions of narrative.
OM: I know you put together a big scrapbook to define the look of Safe. Did you do the same with Velvet Goldmine?
TH: Yes. Three scrapbooks, actually. Big ones. It really is part of my way of working as a film-maker. Because glam was such a visual application of rock, the clothes, the hair, the make-up - both on and off stage - were going to be an essential part of how to imagine the collage of looks for this film. The scrapbooks helped inform me how the film would be shot, how it would be designed, costumed, color-coded, etc. I put together pure images of the bands and album covers, from the most throw-away backstage snap shots to the most theatrical Roxy Music cover. I wanted to have it all in one place, to have a great source of information for everybody. We pulled out those books at every stage, from casting to costume design to make-up and hair. They were really an essential part of the process from the script stage on.*
OM: Each scene is very specific, and I remember when you came back from London the first thing you told me was that you shot the script, which is quite an accomplishment.
TH: It's funny because I never write the script just for myself, even though it may read like it sometimes. I try to explain with the script as meticulously as possible - and it does sometimes verge on the insanely meticulous - exactly what I am seeing in my head and hearing in my ears - which includes every minute description of the score in the very first draft of the script, and all the fades and optical effects. To me, film is about all of its elements together; it's not about some piece of truth that I'm immortalizing on celluloid and which later I can finesse with clever little tools. It's all constructed! It's all working together to present to you, the reader, something that is an experience as well as a blueprint. That's where my scripts go overboard. And they often require more technical discussion than other scripts because I am paying attention to such specific details at an early stage. I don't really know how to write a screenplay without acknowledging all the elements of film-making I want to use... In a way it's impractical; I admire the simplicity of directors who can say, "At this stage, we just need to know the dialogue and the location." In most films that's enough; it gives you enough sense of the rhythm, pace, the overall body of it. But my scripts are always loaded with excessive descriptions of music and subtleties that you may never even perceive when you're watching the film but that I choose to put in the writing. I have to go completely sensory in my descriptions, as if I'm describing, in semi-technical language, a film I am watching.
OM: It probably has something to do with your need to control the medium when you direct. You also storyboard every film you make from beginning to end, which is completely unusual. Why do you insist on sketching every shot?
TH: What can I tell you? I'm a control freak. But I have my reasons. I think most people who work in film - technicians and directors alike - agree that the clearest way to describe what you're seeing in your head is to have a sketch of it... If you have something very specific in mind, which I usually do, you have to be able to show it... [If] I don't feel I see the scene, I feel like it hasn't been written. And if I do see the scene in my head - which ultimately I must in order to direct it - I'm going to show it on the storyboard. I have to make it visual.
Velvet Goldmine has so many scenes that are indescribable in terms of visual reality. Take the scene where the character of Devine is introduced, with that line of executives sitting at a long table. Both Maryse [Alberti], the DP, and Christopher Hobbes, the designer, were very patient with me as I got closer and closer to being able to make this imaginary space concrete. It was supposed to be an empty, strange space - possibly a big studio room - but, for the most part, I wanted it to be defined by the lighting and by this absurdly large conference table that would be tilted and floating in space. That's a scene I'm particularly proud of because all of the angles, the lighting, the costumes work so well together that there is this assumption that we know exactly where we are. All the elements come together but it starts with a clear understanding among the crew of what every shot is going to look like.

Edits and highlights my own :)
*Bonus: For anyone in/near New York City, there will be a Todd Haynes retrospective and exhibit at the Museum of the Moving Image starting this November. It'll include his production archive, which means there might be a chance to see the Velvet Goldmine scrapbooks in person!
#this interview is the gift that keeps on giving. so much interesting stuff!#25yearsofvelvetgoldmine#velvetgoldmine25th#velvet goldmine#SO excited for the Todd Haynes retrospective - I'll have to get myself uptown to the MoMI for the first time#and the retrospective means ANOTHER chance to see VG on the big screen!

Corporate greed is outta control and antitrust action is the best reason to vote for Biden this fall.
It’s time to declare the debate over. In 2021, the total corporate profit increase was $730bn, or a little over $2,100 a person. That’s a large chunk of the inflationary increase in costs. Moreover, the price-fixing in the oil industry, which contributed roughly $200bn of that, isn’t an anomaly.
Take post-Covid rent hikes. One software and consulting pricing firm for landlords, RealPage, specialized in telling its clients to hike rents more than they otherwise might. As of December of 2020, RealPage had nearly 32,000 clients, including “10 largest multifamily property management companies in the United States”. There are multiple antitrust suits accusing the private equity-owned firm of organizing a massive price-fixing conspiracy to inflate rents across the board.
Beyond rent, the Biden administration or private plaintiffs now have credible antitrust claims against firms engaged in price-fixing in meat, hotels and large online sellers like Amazon. Corporations in a range of industries have made comments similar to those of Sheffield.
Alex Cisneros, an executive for Red Roof Inn, told a trade outlet that Red Roof Inn was using a software package called STR from CoStar to systematically hike prices across the hotel industry. “Red Roof’s franchisees for the most part are making more money with less occupancy,” Hotel News Now explained. “Red Roof is now providing more data to franchisees to educate and get them comfortable commanding higher rates.”
According to a lawsuit, an unnamed executive at Smithfield, a pork processor, summarized the advice he got from Agri Stats, a consulting firm that coordinates production in the industry, as: “Just raise your price.”
Rent, meat, oil and hotels are big sectors, so criminal activity in the form of price-fixing to boost profits should bust through the illusions economists have about how our markets really work. There are also a number of concrete steps policymakers can take to respond to this price-fixing.
The first is to arrest or sue the offending executives for criminal activity.
The second is to strengthen price-fixing and merger laws, allow more private class-action suits, force judges to speed up cases and increase the budget of antitrust enforcers to make collusion more difficult.
The third is to reform the Federal Reserve so policymakers there stop using macro-economic models that avoid considerations of profits and price-fixing.
And the fourth is, frankly, political. One key reason there is action on these schemes is because Biden has prioritized antitrust enforcement. He hasn’t put enough into antitrust, and he doesn’t talk about it very often. But he should, or else Americans are likely to fall into the trap of thinking that what is good for big business is good for their pocketbooks, when the opposite is so often the case.
#joe biden#greedflation#antitrust#corporate greed#break them up#a decade ago i said if i could sit done with anyone and question them for any hour about anything#itd be the foremost expert on antitrust laws and why theyre not working anymore#turns out its about enforcement#hes going after a ton of this in every industry and very wealthy people arent happy#why do you think the news never tells you what biden did today#2024#politics

How do you plan an out of state move in 2024?
Planning an out-of-state move can be a complex and stressful process, but with careful planning and organization, you can ensure a smooth transition. Here’s a comprehensive guide to help you begin:
Research Your New Location:
Cost of Living: Begin by comparing the cost of living between your current state and the new one. This includes housing, groceries, utilities, and taxes. Websites like Numbeo can provide detailed comparisons.
Housing: Look into neighborhoods, housing prices, and rental options. Consider factors such as proximity to work, safety, amenities, and school quality if you have children. Online platforms like Zillow and Realtor.com are excellent resources.
Job Market: Investigate job opportunities and the local economy. Sites like Indeed and LinkedIn can help you understand the job market and connect with potential employers.
Lifestyle: Consider the climate, local amenities, schools, and community culture. Explore forums, social media groups, and local news sites to get a feel for the area.
Budgeting:
Moving Costs: Get estimates from moving companies or calculate costs if you plan to move yourself. Include packing materials, transportation, and potential storage fees. Companies like U-Haul provide cost calculators for DIY moves.
Travel Expenses: Budget for gas, flights, hotels, and meals if you’re driving. Websites like GasBuddy can help estimate fuel costs, and travel sites can assist with finding affordable accommodation.
Initial Setup: Plan for deposits, initial rent, utility setup, and any immediate purchases needed upon arrival.
Create a Moving Timeline:
Plan Ahead: Start planning 2–3 months in advance to avoid last-minute stress.
Checklist: Develop a detailed checklist of tasks to be completed each week leading up to the move. This should include everything from hiring movers to packing specific rooms.
Hiring Movers vs. DIY
Consider hiring professional movers by researching and selecting a reputable moving company. Check reviews on sites like Yelp and get multiple quotes to compare prices and services.
DIY Move:
If you decide to move yourself, rent a truck, recruit friends and family, and plan the logistics of driving and unloading. Ensure you have the necessary equipment like dollies and moving blankets.
Declutter and Organize:
Inventory: Take an inventory of your belongings. This helps in estimating moving costs and ensuring nothing gets lost.
Declutter: Sell, donate, or discard items you don’t need. This reduces the volume of items to move and can save money.
Organize: Label boxes clearly by room and content. Use a color-coded system or numbered labels to simplify unpacking.
Update Your Information:
Address Change: Update your address with the postal service, banks, subscription services, and any other relevant parties.
Utilities and Services: Arrange for the disconnection of utilities at your current home and setup at your new home. Ensure you transfer internet, cable, water, and electricity services in time.
Licenses and Registrations: Update your driver’s license, vehicle registration, and voter registration as soon as possible after your move.
Pack Strategically:
Essentials Box: Pack a box of essentials for the first few days, including clothes, toiletries, important documents, and basic kitchen items.
Fragile Items: Pack fragile items with care, using plenty of padding. Clearly label these boxes to ensure they are handled with care.
Room-by-Room: Pack one room at a time and label boxes accordingly. This method makes unpacking more manageable.
Travel Arrangements:
Transport Vehicles: Decide whether to drive your car(s) or have them shipped. Companies like Montway Auto Transport can assist with vehicle shipping.
Pets: Make arrangements for moving pets safely, including carriers, food, and necessary medications.
Accommodation: Book any necessary accommodation if the journey takes more than a day. Plan your route and make reservations in advance.
Settling In:
Unpacking: Start with essential areas like the kitchen and bedrooms to make your new home livable quickly.
Explore: Take time to explore your new neighborhood and meet your neighbors. Familiarize yourself with local grocery stores, pharmacies, and parks.
Emergency Contacts: Find and note down local emergency contacts, such as doctors, vets, and hospitals. Register with local healthcare providers as soon as possible.
Stay Organized:
Keep Records: Maintain a file with all moving-related documents, including contracts, receipts, and inventory lists. This helps in case of disputes or for future reference.
Backup Plans: Have contingency plans in case of delays or unexpected issues. This could include having extra funds for unforeseen expenses or knowing alternative routes.
By following these steps, you can ensure a more organized and less stressful out-of-state move. For personalized assistance with moving in the central Kentucky area, consider reaching out to My 3 Sons Moving and Storage Company.

If you were offered the same job, like hotel registration in general, but as far away from Florida as possible, would you take it?
If by "as far away" you mean "on Earth," then no, because I rather like living on land instead of at sea 1000 miles off the coast of Perth, Australia.
Honest answer, maybe. I don't think I could ever work for a big chain, because I hate company culture so fucking much. I have a lot of freedom at the little Mom and Pop motel I work at now, and I'd have to give that up if I got a job at a Marriott or Holiday Inn. The job itself is easy, it's just the clientele I hate with a burnimg passion; check out my tag "all tourists are bastards" for the greatest hits.
My boss doesn't care what I do or say as long as I get the job done. No uniform, no fake smile, no manager breathing down my neck. She understands that the customer is often wrong, and doesn't take shit from anyone. If someone complains about something beyond our control, she takes my side and tells them to suck it up or leave.
The absolute greatest part about my current job is that I'm not expected to do anything between customers. Sure, every now and then my boss will give me chores, but that only happens as they're needed
If FedEx drops off a package for a customer, I walk it to their room
If a customer smears their sweaty hands all over the office door, I clean it
If the brochure display runs low, I fill it
But that's all just part of the job. My boss never just finds shit for me to do to fill time. If there's nothing to do, I can go on my phone or read a book or draw, and she doesn't care. I have plenty of downtime, and it does wonders for my mental health. No other hotel on Earth would allow me such a privilege because most front desks are in a public communal area where I'd have to put on my Customer Service Face™ at all times, while the office door at my current job is locked 24/7 with a big neon PLEASE RING DOORBELL FOR SERVICE sign hung up at eye level. I don't have to stand all day, I only have to get up when they buzz so I can open the door for them from the inside. There's no stool at the desk, I stand for every customer, but once they leave I can go to the back room and sit in a recliner (though I'm not allowed to recline it; still comfy)
No Best Western manager would ever let me cuss out a customer who started shit. My boss lets me defend myself, and I appreciate that more than anything. Customers are liars, and she knows it. I love, love, LOVE when they start arguing with me and ask to speak with my manager, only for her to tell them exactly what I did, verbatim. Hell, it's gotten to the point that I offer to get her involved from the start, "oh, you don't like what I telling you? Do you want to speak with my boss, the owner?" We don't need their business, this place has been a community cornerstone for decades, no amount of entitled asshole reviews will ever tank it.
If I could find a nice Mom and Pop place somewhere up north, and if I could establish a mutually respectful relationship with the owner, I'd take the job in a heartbeat, but every time I google a state I want to move to I get met with dozens of horror stories telling me that it's not all it's cracked up to be. Everyone hates where they live, that's a given, but to someone living in Weimar Germany (almost Nazi), those places look like paradise in comparison. Oregon, Washington state, Vermont, Massachusetts, they seem like beacons of hope to lil ole naive me. Ideally I want to move to New Zealand, but that's beyond my budget (and probably always will be). Nowhere is safe from crazy, but some places are more tolerable.

Unlocking the Cost of Your Hotel Booking Website: A Deep Dive
In the ever-evolving travel landscape, a robust hotel booking website is no longer a luxury, but a necessity.
Whether you're venturing into the online hotel booking space or seeking to expand your existing business, understanding the cost involved in building a user-friendly and functional website is crucial.
This blog delves into the key factors influencing the cost of your hotel booking website, empowering you to make informed decisions.
Website Design and Development
Complexity: A basic website with essential functionalities like search, booking, and payment options will have a lower cost compared to a feature-rich platform offering interactive experiences and personalized recommendations.
Customization: Opting for a pre-designed template can be more budget-friendly, while custom website design allows for a unique brand identity and caters to specific needs, impacting the cost.
Development Team: Hiring an in-house development team can incur significant salaries, benefits, and infrastructure costs. Partnering with a reputable hotel website design company with expertise in this domain can offer a cost-effective alternative.
Additional Features:
Advanced Search and Filter Options: Allowing users to filter by location, amenities, price range, and guest reviews adds value but increases development complexity and cost.
Multilingual Support: Catering to a global audience by offering multilingual support necessitates additional development effort and ongoing translation costs.
Integration with Third-Party Platforms: Integrating with payment gateways, channel management systems, and loyalty programs can enhance functionality but involve additional costs for development and potential ongoing fees.
Maintenance and Ongoing Costs
Content Management System (CMS): A user-friendly CMS empowers you to manage website content and updates independently, reducing reliance on developers and potentially lowering costs.
Hosting and Security: Choosing reliable hosting and robust security measures ensures website uptime and data protection, incurring fixed monthly or annual costs.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO): Implementing SEO strategies improves website visibility in search engine results, potentially requiring ongoing investment in content creation, technical SEO optimization, and potentially, marketing campaigns.
Determining the Right Budget
The cost of your hotel booking website can vary significantly based on your specific requirements, desired features, and chosen development approach. It's essential to prioritize features based on your target audience, business goals, and budget constraints.

Unlocking the Power of Revenue Management Software: A Comprehensive Guide!
