im sorry this might not be the place to ask for advice/help but im doomscrolling about the news and the soon to be president and im seeing so much to be scared shitless about, invasions, removal of vaccines, cost of living increases, revoking of trans rights and how it might make it all the more impossible to get the surgeries i wanted... its just too fucking scary to breathe right now what do i do with myself
Hey, Anon. I'm here. A lot of us are here right with you.
It's scary, to be sure. And I'm not going to sugarcoat the possibilities of things going south very quickly. So, let's jump into some survival tactics.
This post on burnout is a great place to start. There is a lot of overlap with burnout and the anxiety you're feeling.
Allow yourself to slow down and unplug. You are allowed to step away from the news cycle -- events out of your control will unfold regardless.
Don't feel guilty by letting yourself relax. I find it especially helpful to do activities that don't involve the internet -- I've been decorating my house, mending broken crockery, and sketching some embroidery ideas. I try to take the time to get dressed and groomed every day, to remind myself that I matter. I spend more time outdoors.
As you find the ability to relax, you'll be able to focus better on the things you can do to be resilient. Things I have been doing to improve myself and make me a better helper:
Staying on top of my medical appointments and any preventive care I can do
Working to be physically healthier overall to mitigate future medical issues
Getting all my paperwork in order, including passports
Tweaking my financial budget
Researching what estate & family documentation needs to be done to protect my relationship in case my marriage gets dissolved
Brushing up on job skills, getting new certifications to stay competitively employable
Stocking up on my medical and general emergency supplies, especially for bad weather events
Getting in the habit of mindful purchases, curbing my habit of impulse shopping
Selling things I don't want or need anymore to have a little extra money and be able to move house easier, if need be
Building a habit of fixing/maintaining my possessions instead of trashing broken things
Canceling online subscriptions and quitting social networks that make me feel in danger
Getting my personal and any queer-related files out of the cloud and onto redundant solid state drives
Downloading / printing out queer resources and buying queer art that may be banned or monitored in the future
Enjoying physical media again and hunting for old favorites
Keeping in touch with queer friends and allies and making plans in case people (even myself) need to flee
Being visible when I can and knowing when it's best to lay low
Allowing myself the luxury to dig into things Old Me would have saved for "special" events -- aka, wearing the nice clothes and eating off the fine china as an everyday thing
Shutting the fuck up, especially online, when I think my words could be used against me
In a way, I am trying to simply become a better version of myself, one who is calm & self-sufficient, mindful about his actions, and available to help those in need. It sucks that the driving factor is fear, but I intend to use that fear as a catalyst to be stronger and survive.
There is a lot to be done, but there was always going to be work, new regime or not. But please, start with that burnout article so you can jump into your own plans with new hope and energy. ❤️

if the picnic crop tops do well would you consider other crop top styles in cotton?
i wish i could say yes, but at this point, ash and devin are ready to slit my throat if i ever pitch another crop top to them.
and if we ignore that and just focus on the cotton bit, that has its own problems as well.
we are honestly still really burned by the fiasco that is/was the cotton funeral garments. i haven’t wanted to talk about it much but the situation with all that seriously hurt our finances for the entire year. and while i absolutely love the final products we made, it is abundantly clear that they are just not in the majority of our customers’ budgets. and that’s fine but if our customers don’t buy them, we can’t make them.
so maybe if we dye the cotton instead of printing, maybe if they are simpler garments without buttons or collars… idk.
tbh even if we find other ways to cut down on costs, at the end of the day, using cotton that is well documented for both its quality and its ethical production is just going to be expensive. especially when we are also paying for certified ethical labor to turn the base fabric into finished garments. but most people don’t have $90 for a cotton shirt they could buy for $40 somewhere else and at the end of the day it doesn’t matter what certifications we have or how good the quality is if people just don’t have the money.

Love In Print│Bang Chan
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Chapter One: Satan And His Hellhound SS: 9 (ignore time stamps and dates) Word Count: 2.7K Content Warnings:

Tumblr media
The tension in the Levanter-Miroh Publishing office is so thick it might as well be listed as an official department. Two years post-merger, the open-plan layout still feels like a no-man's-land, with the remnants of Levanter's creativity-first chaos clashing violently against Miroh's sterile, data-driven efficiency.
Somewhere in the middle of this battlefield, Ayame and Chan continue their daily war, a slow-burning feud that keeps the office on edge and entertained.
Ayame strides through the building, the click of her stiletto heels echoing against the polished tile floors. Her light blue mini skirt swishes with every purposeful step, the fitted corset-waist blouse tucked just enough to appease HR.
She sips her coffee and catches up to Nari near the elevators. Nari, ever the image of poised chaos, juggles her phone, a tablet, and the sheer weight of dealing with Kang Haechul and his corporate minions.
"Morning, Ayame," Nari says, barely glancing up from her phone.
"Morning," Ayame hands her a sleek folder, one corner decorated with a small smiley face sticker she slapped on last minute. "Here's the pitch for that YA series I mentioned. It's fucking gold. I'd bet my coffee budget it'll trend for years."
Nari flips through the file, her lips twitching in approval. "Has Kang Haechul seen this?"
Ayame raises an eyebrow, the corner of her mouth twitching with a dry smirk. "I sent it to the dementor, sorry, I mean Chan, so I assume so. But if it has even a drop of creativity, I doubt it'll survive his soulless, corporate vacuum."
Nari lets out a low chuckle as they step into the elevator. "Quarterlies?"
"Lower than projected, but not a disaster," Ayame replies, leaning against the wall and crossing her ankles. "Better than Q2, at least. I already talked to marketing about alternative print strategies to cut costs without touching the quality. Sent you a breakdown this morning. Oh, and I emailed about the team-building event I'm planning."
Nari pauses mid-scroll, looking up from her phone with a sceptical arch of her brow. "Team-building? You? I thought you'd rather eat glass."
"Rusty nails, actually," Ayame corrects, smirking. "But Minho's drowning in complaints, and HR's been a shitshow since the merger. Figured I'd throw them a bone before they all quit."
As if summoned by her words, Seungmin appears just outside the elevator as the doors slide open. He steps in, sharp in his suit, holding a stack of perfectly aligned documents. His expression is neutral, but his tone is dripping with quiet amusement. "Half of those complaints are about you and corporate stick-up-the-ass."
"Morning to you too, sunshine," Ayame replies sweetly, rolling her eyes.
Nari shakes her head, grinning. "Oh, Ayame, I don't know what I'd do without you."
"Be stuck with Satan and his hellhound," Ayame quips, nodding toward Chan and Kang Haechul, who are making their way across the lobby. Chan is in his usual sharp suit, his perfectly styled hair somehow looking both effortless and infuriating. His gaze is piercing, clipboard in hand like a weapon of mass destruction.
Seungmin mutters, just loud enough for Ayame to hear, "Pretty sure Satan and his hellhound would be less of a pain in the ass."
Ayame smirks. "Exactly."
As they part ways, Ayame makes her way toward her desk, only to be intercepted by Hyunjin, who's rushing toward her like a man on the verge of collapse. His tie is crooked, his shirt slightly untucked, and his expression is nothing short of desperate.
"Ayame, please, I need a favour," he blurts, running a hand through his already messy hair.
Ayame groans, holding up her coffee like a shield. "What now, Hyunjin?"
He exhales dramatically, pacing in front of her. "Okay, so, my new puppy, his name is Tofu, by the way, he got into the peanut butter last night, and, uh, well, he fucking exploded. Shit everywhere. I'm talking walls, furniture, my expensive rug-"
"Jesus Christ, Hyunjin." Ayame cuts him off, holding up a hand. "What is it you want from me?"
"I need an extension on the monthly report," he says quickly, clasping his hands together like he's praying. "Just a couple of days. I swear I'll have it done by Wednesday."
Ayame takes a slow sip of her coffee, staring him down. "You'll have it Monday. Wednesday at the absolute fucking latest, or I swear to god I'll make you clean the conference room after next week's catered lunch."
Hyunjin's face lights up like she's just saved him from certain death. "Thank you! You're a fucking angel."
"I'm a fucking sucker," she mutters as she brushes past him, heading for the meeting room with a tray of cupcakes she brought for the morning meeting.
Just as she reaches the doorway, she's blocked by Chan, who leans against the frame with his arms crossed and that damned clipboard clutched like it's part of his anatomy. His dark eyes flick to the cupcakes, then back to her, the faintest trace of a smirk playing on his lips.
"That was pathetic," he says, jerking his chin toward Hyunjin. "You could just tell him to do his fucking job, but no, you have to play saviour."
Ayame snorts, brushing past him without missing a beat. "Being a saviour is better than being a corporate dick-sucking yes-man."
"Interesting philosophy," Chan calls after her, his voice dripping with sarcasm.
Inside the meeting room, the atmosphere immediately shifts as Ayame sets down the tray of cupcakes. Minho, seated at the head of the table, grabs two before anyone else can move.
"God bless you, Ayame," he declares, unwrapping a cupcake like it's Christmas morning. "Honestly, this is the only reason I come to these fucking meetings."
Ayame smirks, folding her arms as she leans against the table. "Don't stuff your face yet. We're supposed to at least pretend to talk about quarterlies first."
"I can multitask," Minho says around a mouthful of frosting.
Ayame slides into her chair between Seungmin and Seonghwa, expertly balancing her oversized coffee mug in one hand and a battered notebook in the other. The chair creaks slightly as she settles in, crossing her legs and shooting a quick glance around the table. Seungmin is leaning back like he doesn't give a single fuck about being here, casually scrolling through his phone, while Seonghwa greets her with a bright smile, his ever-present aura of calm cutting through the simmering tension in the room.
"You know," Seonghwa begins, his voice low and conspiratorial, "I watched this insane documentary last night. It was about the history of baking."
Ayame raises a brow, intrigued despite herself. "Was it good, or was it just weird enough to hold your attention?"
Seonghwa shrugs, his smile widening. "A little of both. Did you know Da Vinci invented the blender?"
Ayame snorts, nearly spilling her coffee. "Are you serious? That's what he spent his time on? Art, science, and fucking smoothie-making?"
Jisung, sitting across the table, immediately jumps into the conversation like he's been waiting for his cue. "Speaking of inventions, I've got something revolutionary: the pizza plate."
Ayame squints at him, her laughter tapering off as she processes his words. "The what?"
"The pizza plate!" Jisung exclaims, clearly proud of himself. "It's a second pizza you put under your first pizza to catch the crumbs. Genius, right?"
Minho groans from the end of the table, dragging a hand down his face like he's suddenly aged ten years. "No one fucking cares, Jisung. Literally no one. Please, for the love of god, stop."
Jisung smirks, undeterred. "You're just jealous you didn't think of it first."
Minho doesn't even look up, waving him off like he's swatting at a particularly annoying fly. "I'd rather think of literally anything else. Like how to end my suffering in this goddamn meeting."
Seonghwa leans toward Ayame, his voice dropping to a whisper. "Do they ever stop arguing?"
Ayame sips her coffee, her tone light but laced with exasperation. "Never. It's like breathing to them."
Before Seonghwa can reply, Chan's voice cuts through the room like a fucking guillotine. "Alright. Can we please get started, or do you all need another minute to play kindergarten?"
The table falls silent, though Ayame, Seungmin, Hyunjin, and Minho simultaneously mouth the word dementor. Ayame bites down on her lip to keep from laughing outright, her eyes darting to Chan, who looks like he's five seconds away from snapping his clipboard in half.
"We're good to go," Ayame says sweetly, turning to Chan with a saccharine smile that's practically dripping with fake innocence. "But you? Your tie's crooked."
Chan frowns, glancing down at his tie, his expression shifting from confusion to realization as he catches her smirk. His tie is, of course, perfectly straight. He looks back at her, dark eyes narrowing dangerously as Ayame sips her coffee, her smile widening.
Before he can respond, Nari steps into the room, her heels clicking against the floor like a countdown timer. Kang Haechul follows closely behind, his posture rigid and his face locked in its usual mask of condescension.
"Alright, everyone," Nari says, her voice calm but commanding as she takes her spot at the head of the table. "Let's try to keep this short. Haechul and I have an announcement to make."
The room collectively stiffens, the air practically crackling with unease. Ayame leans back in her chair, notebook in hand, her pen poised but motionless.
"We're adding a new position to the team," Nari continues, glancing briefly at Haechul before pressing on. "A managing director role."
Haechul nods, clasping his hands behind his back like a fucking monarch addressing his subjects. "He will oversee all departments and report directly to me."
Ayame's brows shoot up at the pointed emphasis on he, and she isn't the only one who notices. Eyes dart around the table, and the tension thickens.
Nari's polite smile tightens, though her voice remains steady. "He or she will report to both of us," she clarifies smoothly, though the strain in her tone is impossible to miss.
Haechul doesn't flinch, merely inclining his head as though the correction doesn't bother him in the slightest. "Of course. The job will be open to external applicants, but I'd like to prioritize hiring from within."
The subtle glance he throws at Chan doesn't go unnoticed, and the room shifts again, silent but charged. Ayame watches Chan out of the corner of her eye. He looks composed as ever, his expression unreadable, but there's a tension in his shoulders that only someone who's worked alongside him this long would notice.
Ayame leans back in her chair, tapping her pen against her notebook. "Interesting," she mutters, her voice just loud enough for Seungmin to hear.
Nari clears her throat, clearly sensing the unease. "To ensure fairness, we'll be assembling an independent panel since Haechul and I don't always see eye to eye on things."
Haechul's mouth twitches, his attempt at a neutral expression barely holding. "The final candidates will present their strategies to the board after the New Year. May the best man win."
Ayame's jaw tightens at the deliberate phrasing. "Man," she mutters under her breath, rolling her eyes. "How fucking progressive."
Seungmin snorts beside her, his voice low. "Careful, Ayame. Your sarcasm's showing."
She doesn't bother replying, leaning forward instead to jot something in her notebook. Chan catches the movement, his gaze flicking to her with the faintest hint of curiosity, but she doesn't meet his eyes.
Nari steps in again, her tone firm but measured. "Let's stay focused on the task at hand. This is an important step for the company, and we'll need everyone's cooperation to make it successful."
Haechul nods, his gaze lingering on Chan like a fucking spotlight. "Exactly. Cooperation."
Ayame fights the urge to roll her eyes again, settling instead for a long sip of coffee. Beside her, Seonghwa leans closer, whispering, "This is going to be a fucking disaster."
Ayame sighs, her voice dry. "When isn't it?"
Tumblr media
The meeting ends in a shuffle of murmurs, forced goodbyes, and the obnoxious screech of chairs dragged across the floor. Ayame barely lets the echo die before she gathers her notebook and empty coffee mug, making a beeline for the kitchenette like it's a lifeboat in the middle of a shipwreck. The room is blissfully quiet, save for the low hum of the coffee machine, and she takes a deep breath, relishing the rare moment of peace as she rummages through the cabinet for a tea bag.
Her peace lasts all of forty-five seconds.
The door swings open, and she knows who it is before she even turns around. That insufferable clack of dress shoes on the tile, deliberate but unhurried. Bang fucking Chan.
He strides in like he owns the place, leaning casually against the counter, arms crossed over his perfectly tailored suit. His dark eyes lock on her like a predator sizing up prey. "You know the job's mine, shortcake."
Ayame doesn't even flinch, too focused on pouring hot water into her mug. She hums noncommittally, not sparing him a glance. "Cute. When I'm your boss, I'll make it a requirement that you have to do everything with a smile."
Chan lets out a low snort, tilting his head. "A smile?"
"Yeah," she says, finally looking up, her tone dripping with mock sweetness. "It's this thing where the muscles in your face move to react to positive things. You should try it sometime. It might help you seem... less like a soulless corporate dick."
He smirks, sharp and cutting. "You've never smiled at me."
She lifts her mug to her lips, her own smile threatening to betray her composure. "Make of that what you will."
His eyes narrow, his smirk not faltering. "Enlighten me," he says, leaning in slightly. "Why won't I get the job, huh?"
Ayame sets her mug down on the counter with an audible clink, crossing her arms as she leans back against the counter to face him fully. "Because you're the most hated man in this office."
Chan laughs at that, a low, deliberate sound that's equal parts condescending and amused. "Oh no, shortcake. No one hates me. They fear me, which is what makes me so fucking good at my job."
Ayame raises an eyebrow, tilting her head. "Fear doesn't make you effective, Chan. It makes you a pain in the ass."
He steps closer, the faint scent of his cologne cutting through the lingering smell of coffee. His smirk deepens as he lowers his voice. "And yet, here I am. The most effective pain in the ass you've ever met."
Ayame rolls her eyes, scooping up her mug and pushing off the counter. "Congrats on the self-awareness, Captain Obvious."
She starts toward the elevator, but she can hear the inevitable click of his shoes behind her. Of course he follows. His insufferable confidence radiates off him like heat, practically filling the space as they step into the elevator together. The doors slide shut with a soft ding, trapping them in yet another standoff.
Chan leans casually against the elevator wall, his gaze sliding toward her as he takes a slow sip from his coffee. "When I'm your boss," he says lazily, "I'm implementing a dress code. No more dressing like that."
Ayame freezes mid-sip, her mug halfway to her lips. She turns her head slowly, narrowing her eyes. "Like what?"
He gestures vaguely toward her outfit, his smirk unwavering. "Like... that. The mini skirts, the corset blouses, the whole look. It's distracting."
Her laugh is sharp, biting, like the snap of a whip. "Distracting? From what? Your spreadsheets? Grow the fuck up, Chan."
He shrugs, taking another sip of coffee like she hasn't just insulted his entire existence. "Just calling it like I see it."
She sets her mug down on the elevator railing, facing him fully now. "Let me tell you something. When I'm your boss, I'm enforcing casual Fridays. No suits allowed. Hell, no ties allowed. And for the record, if you get that job, I'll fucking resign."
Chan raises an eyebrow, his smirk softening into something closer to amusement. "Oh, you will, huh?"
"Absolutely," she replies, her voice light but her words firm. "Just like you will if I get it."
His chuckle is low, almost inaudible, as he leans back against the wall. "I don't quit, shortcake."
She picks up her mug, her lips curving into a wicked grin as she sips her tea. "Oh, but I could fire you."
Chan laughs outright at that, a deep, rumbling sound that makes the elevator feel ten degrees warmer. "You'd have to beat me first. And we both know that's not happening."
Ayame tilts her head, her eyes sparkling with mock innocence. "I'm getting the distinct impression that's not the first time you've said that to a woman in your thirty-something years on this planet."
His smirk falters just slightly before returning full force. "Touché."
The elevator dings as it reaches their floor, the doors sliding open. Ayame steps out first, her heels clicking against the tile. She glances over her shoulder, her tone smug as she says, "So, we agree? If one of us gets the job, the other has to quit."
Chan follows her out, his pace deliberately matching hers. He considers her words for a moment before nodding, his smirk turning downright devious. "Fine. Agreed."
"Good," she says, turning away with a satisfied grin. "You're going to look adorable when I'm your boss."
Chan laughs under his breath, shaking his head as they reach their shared office. He pauses at the door, watching her with a look that's equal parts amused and competitive. "This war's gonna be fun."
Ayame doesn't look back, but her smirk is visible in her voice as she replies, "For me, at least."

DAMNN!!!! It makes me sad how Yves probably doesn’t celebrate his birthday because it probably reminds him of how old he has become 😭 But after rereading the birthday ask, I wanna do something for his birthday, like I’d honestly try to throw a little something for him, even if it’s just the two of us. How would he react to that? But then again I doubt he would tell us his birth date and would NEVER tell us the year so celebrating his birthday would probably be next to impossible. But dang I’d feel bad like being with this man a whole year and realizing like Omg I never got Yves anything for his birthday ☹️
Yves may not like to be reminded of his age, but he does love spending time with you. He knew that you would want to do something nice for him on his birthday. In that case, he would drop hints about his very special day.
Valentines Day; would be the day he chose to represent the day he was born. You would perhaps accidentally take a peep at his passport, Identity card or any seemingly valid documents that contained his alleged birthdate.
14th February, and he will be 34 this year.
He loves roses, jewellery, makeup, handbags, heels, heart-shaped novelty gifts and all things romantic. Yves is sure you would find an easier time to obtain them during heartbreak season.
You might be insecure because everything that's at least touching his standards is out of your budget. So you have to rely on creativity.
Of course, nothing is a surprise for Yves. He knows your works in progress, the trips to the photo printing store, the paper basket filled with rejected, crumpled love poem drafts, hours upon hours of perusing through the internet for cute birthday date ideas... your effort in preparing for it was already more than enough to please him.
Yves definitely loves seeing you try for him. To push past your worries and do it anyway, even if you are shaking out of fear from the thought of him being disappointed.
He would subliminally send you a message that it's not material items Yves is after; it's your company. Gifts and romantic gestures are nice bonuses, but not necessary.
But you're so adamant about doing something nice for his special day, and that warms his heart. So he lets you have your fun and healthy stresses on organizing a nice little dinner for him. Although, he will step in if you're pressuring yourself to the point of deterioration.
Comes the day of 'his' birthday, it's 12 in the morning. He's still awake in his office, typing away at his computer. Yves would appreciate it very much if you greeted him with a hug and a kiss, lightly scolding you for staying up so late but thanking you for your attentiveness nonetheless. If you live separately, you can give him a call or a text wishing him a happy birthday, and he will answer or reply immediately without fail. With some nagging that you should have adequate sleep at night. He doesn't hide the delight in his voice or face, though.
If you've been paying attention, the ideal birthday present for him is... you. Yves would very much rather pamper you instead as if it's celebrating yours, cooking up all your favorite meals, bringing you to your favorite places... but alas, it is your turn to spoil him with whatever you have in store.
You spent the last few days practicing how to cook something that you think is 'fancy' and 'expensive'. You emptied your pockets for that week but it was all worth it, you mastered making a dish that you thought Yves would like, you think. A cake you attempted to make from scratch, is obviously not made by a professional, but the love and care are evident.
Assuming you live with him, a perfect window of opportunity presents itself when Yves is suddenly extremely busy with work, so he has to hide himself in the office. You hurried to set up everything, the presents, the dining table, the candles, the food, and the plates. It was such a coincidence, that he's done as soon as you put your final touches on your dishes.
He would appear pleasantly surprised, tilting his head to the side and gracefully concealing the widest smile on his face with his manicured fingers. You can see his eyes glimmering out of joy, which in turn makes you feel proud and giddy as well. For the presentation alone, Yves is already sure to reward you handsomely.
You pulled the chair out for him, and he thanked you as Yves elegantly took a seat.
You sat down opposite of him, face and neck already covered in lipstick prints before even picking up the sleek champagne bottle. He found it adorable, you can barely afford the lower-end ones, yet you still try. He was monitoring your spending behavior and noticed that you're saving excessively for something, he is happy to know that you used it to get something luxurious for him.
His gaze never left yours as he clinked glasses with you.
Yves made sure to praise you for all your hard work, and he is exceptionally giggly today. Not because he thinks your efforts are funny, but because it's quite difficult to contain his admiration and fondness for you. And it is also because of the sight of you being decorated in his lipstick. He genuinely thinks your cooking is delicious, perhaps a tad bit too oily, salty, sweet, or burnt for his taste, or he simply didn't like that particular food. You wouldn't know, because it seems like Yves ate something that was meant for the gods. It was exquisite because it was made by you with loving intent.
Perhaps you're shy, a bit skittish, and blushing. You somehow thought writing romantic poems and reading them out loud for him to hear would be something he would be keen on. And you were absolutely correct. You could cringe at your own voice and work as much as you want, but Yves is cherishing it deeply.
He knows you would stutter when he sensually caressed you on your thigh, he did it anyway to see such a cute reaction from you. Yves would hold onto every word, listening intently and staring at you with such devotion.
Please don't take his peals of laughter at the end as mockery, it was purely out of glee and love for you, the ticklish feeling in his chest needed to escape somehow. Yves would pull you in a tight, but comforting hug, showering you with so much praise and affection, that you would think you're the world's greatest poet.
He would sit on his chair, crossing his legs, and adoringly watched you scramble to show him all your gifts. Predictably, they're all Valentine's Day-themed, rouge and hearts all around, his favorite.
You truly knew how to make him feel like a queen. Bouquets of fragrant roses, chocolates, even handmade crafts that you slaved over for him... they're all priceless and worth much more than anything in the world. He was slow and careful in unwrapping them, Yves everything, down to the strip of tape you used to keep the wrapping paper together, as intact as possible as they're going to be preserved in his compendium.
You gifted him an expensive lipstick in a shade that he would like. Such a wonderfully attentive partner you are, how could you have possibly known that he loves all things lip pigments? He must simply try it, so he did on the spot, using you as his little canvas.
Oh, he loves that hue on you. Yves made sure to test it out a couple more times, on your forehead, cheek, and lips. Yves would twist it back into its container, cap it, and keep it away before finally permitting you to leave his lap.
There's more, you scampered off into the kitchen. Leaving him alone to deal with his high for a while.
You emerged again with a crooked cake. The piping is uneven, it says "Hapy BDay Yves!!!" in crude frosting- you didn't think the spacing through, and hence it was horribly off-centered, and a singular, lit candle is stuck in the eye of the cake. It was perfection.
You watched him quizzingly as his emerald eyes began tearing up, droplets rolling down his cheek as he smiled wide. He daintily patted the tears away with his trembling fingertips, Yves was speechless and incapacitated by his extreme urge to squeeze you, his cuteness and aggression reaching debilitating levels.
He had to expel all that extra energy somehow, so he resorted to crying out of joy. Yves knew what you were about to do, he knew all that was going to happen, but he could never account for the overwhelm he would feel when you do something special like this. It's embarrassing to Yves, but he pushed that feeling aside and thought about how grateful he is to have you instead.
It would take him a couple minutes to compose himself, a handful of deep breaths before he is confident that he wouldn't bite you like a rabid dog.
You invited him to make a wish, and he did so silently, clasping his hands together and closing his eyes. Yves was so earnest and fervent that you would think he was saying a sincere prayer. Whatever he wished for, you notice there is that desperation in him for it to come true.
He cuts it with you, your back pressing against his front as he holds both your hands in his. Guiding the blade through the baked goods.
He asked if you and he could share a slice, and Yves would spoon-feed you and himself using the same utensils. It's much more intimate and romantic that way. And, maybe it would invoke some nostalgia too.
Yves is saving the best parts for you, be it the cherries, chocolate barks, sprinkles, strawberries... it's yours.
You wonder if he is having a fever because the hand that is holding your chin is unusually warm and his face is pink. He watched you with half-lidded eyes which you mistook as sleepiness and not lovesickness.
You beguiled him enough to earn yourself a night of heavenly sex. It's definitely not your first time, so you knew how fucking difficult it is to convince Yves to do that with you. And you knew how damn good he is in the bedroom.
Naturally, you're shaking in excitement as Yves gives you a nod as he sensually caresses you under your chin. Opportunities like this are rare, of course, you're frothing at the mouth thinking about what awaits you later.
He told you to unwind in the bedroom first while he cleans up. Yves didn't have to say a word more before you took off running.
Yves laughed to himself as he gathered the empty dishes, thinking about the vase he would be putting the fresh roses in.
This may not be everyone's ideal way of spending their birthday; ending the day by doing chores. But that's the way Yves likes it and he wouldn't change his mind for the world, he's stubborn in his ways and loves predictability. Taking care of you is his greatest joy in life. Which isn't all that surprising, Yves is a Taurus, after all.

~POV Mori~
While I was sick, the magicians developing alchemy magic were able to make a wider range of materials by doing something closer to assisted chemistry; they started transmuting rubber from the milky saps of some plants -like the rubber gloves from my medical scrolls. It was inspiring! With the power of success and dopamine I finalized my printing press schematics in only 2 days.
These accomplishments were later brought up at the morning Assembly, not by the people making them, but by Ja'far and the accountants of the White Capricorn Tower. "Even before becoming the official Prophet of Sindria, Mori has help our magicians, engineers and doctors make leaps and bounds of progress in their fields. Many countries of the Alliance have agreed to help fund these projects and have already preordered scrolls of the information. *However,*" he held up a document, "due to all of the extra people and resources needed we are already over budget for the year! And so we request that the Prophet not invent anything new for the rest of this quarter and the next. This way we will have time to start finalizing what we already have for production and can start receiving a return on these investments."
Yamuraiha jumped to my defense. "The work Mori has been doing in the Black Libra Tower has been revolutionary! How can you say you don't have a budget for life changing-"
"I am not denying their contributions! We simply can't afford this rate of advancements!"
I raised a hand to get their attention. "If there's no budget, then there's no budget. However, I can't just sit around and do nothing for 5 months."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There was a bit of a back and forth, and eventually it was agreed that I would continue helping in the Black Libra Tower, but any future schematics would be placed on hold and judged for priority by the researchers and accountants. And so I went to working as an encyclopedia in the mornings, and would work on Fate scrolls after lunch.
---
The Great Bell rang, and thanks to the power of hyperfixation, none of us could tell what time it was. Not long after, I noticed a familiar shift in the waves that gave me the answer. Knowing who was coming gave me another boost to get a little more done.
Menachem greeted him when he arrived. "Ah- good morning, your Majesty."
Sinbad's laugh made my heart race. "Yes. Good morning." For the past week, King Sinbad had came in person every other day for updates even though it would be covered in the next morning's Assembly. The violet haired man walked over to where I was sitting, while showing me the world's most charming smile. "Mori. How are you doing?"
'Excited. Happy. Nervous. Embarrassed. Confused. Self-conscious.' He hadn't said anything directly flirty since I was sick. And yet, it was noticeably harder to refute the Magicians' claims. Sinbad had said at the Announcement that he didn't want to play at flirting with me, and wanted to become someone I could trust. He certainly didn't trigger my lactose intolerance anymore. 'He said he wanted to move me to the Purple Leo Tower.'
I fought back the urge to hide. "I'm fine." The room definitely felt hotter than it did a minute ago. I re-explained what I had gone over with the magicians. Sinbad nodded along and asked questions at all the right times. He also remembered the things I had said previous days. He made me feel validated and respected every time he stopped by. It was becoming increasingly bad for my heart.
There was a suspicious amount of people meandering nearby. Most were watching us out of the corners of their eyes. At least the magicians didn't comment as much as the first time they saw the pink Rukh around us. Although, it was getting easier to judge when they were looking at the Rukh even without those comments.
The King smiled, and I cursed his ability to charm me without flirting. He used a hand to point at the scroll from over my shoulder. He was much closer than I realized; I would only need to lean over a little to make contact. Just like how he had stopped overtly flirting, he hadn't touched me either. He knew I needed space, and I was grateful for that, but it also illustrated for me just how used to his skinship I had become.
I couldn't do this anymore. It hurt too much. I was projecting my past onto someone who might actually reciprocate my feelings. What I was feeling might not have anything to do with the present or him as a person. I could just be recognizing my past in him and repeating those patterns while hoping for a different ending. But the patterns include the endings, and if I wasn't self-aware enough I'd force those endings out of fear of being caught unaware. Even if Sinbad actually liked me now, the attention he showed me would dry up eventually, right? I require closed relationships so eventually he'll come to resent me for limiting his options. We aren't compatible. The waves rose slightly and I couldn't ignore the thought that this was fanfiction, so anything was possible.
"Excuse me, Mx. Prophet?" A voice called for me from the entrance to the library.
'OH THANK GOD' I was saved! "Yes??" I looked in the direction of the voice and called back. "Do you need something?" My face was finally starting to cool down. At least now I could stop thinking about how easy it would be to touch Sinbad. 'Remember who he is in 5 years.'
The worker appeared from around a line of bookshelves. He froze at the site of the man next to me for a moment before giving the message. "There's a- There's a blacksmith looking for you."
'A blacksmith?' "THE SCISSORS!" I was out of my seat in a flash. My brain shifted gears quickly after passing through the doorway into the hall.
The blacksmith that made the scissors during my first week in Sindria understood how important of a development this was and came to talk to the designer, me, shortly after seeing who I was at the Announcement. If he was here to see me again, he must have finished some prototypes for different types of scissors! The thing that made the evolution from shears to scissors so important was the addition of the hinge to the tool. There was no time to worry about Sinbad right now! There was history happening!

~POV Sinbad~
Sinbad had figured out that Mori wasn't the type to leave in the middle of work, even when she was putty in his hands. So, what was so important that she was willing to leave while in the middle of talking with her King about said work? They wouldn't have been interrupted if Mori had her own office. Sinbad crossed his arms as he watched them leave. At least she looked excited for whatever this was about.
Menachem came back over, as if he hadn't just been enjoying the show from behind a potted plant. "You know, your Majesty, I didn't think it was the case at first, but now I'd be willing to bet money that the Lady Prophet has blue Rukh." He stroked his beard as he talked. "You're going to have to be more direct if you want her attention." The old man laughed.
Tumblr media
Sinbad sighed a laugh back and shook his head, but didn't answer.
There was a superstition that you could tell a lot about a person's personality from what type of Rukh they had. People with Type 2-Blue Rukh were said to get lost in their personal interests, and struggle to recognize romantic advances. That first part definitely sounded like his Beautiful Prophet, but Sinbad wasn't sure about the second. Mori was ignoring his signals on purpose. It would take a while to convince them he was worth the risk.
((In one of the Magi extras Yunan describes these Rukh based personality types with canon characters as examples. It's not stated as common knowledge. I wanted to add it because it reminded me of the way people talk about astrology signs sometimes :3 Btw, according to the manga's personality quiz, I normally get Rukh type 7 -the same a Sin. Sometimes I get Type-2, 8, or. 4))
When Sinbad turned the corner, Mori was already out of sight. Not a problem; the waves would lead him. The King found them on the first floor talking with a burly old man that was a known blacksmith.
Mori had two fingers in rings with blades attached. "This pair is really close to the ones I first commissioned. Thanks again for those. I've been able to cut my bangs without worrying about accidently shaving my eyebrows with a knife."
Sinbad walked up to them. "How would someone even do that?"
Mori turned to him with a knowing smile. Her cheeks turned a little pink when they made eye contact. "I didn't think it was possible until I saw it happen in one of my visions. He had to go without sleep for several days, and often cuts the left side of his bangs too short." Sinbad unconsciously brushed his bangs at the mention of a habit he knew he had. "He was lucky that he knew a magician that was able to regrow it." She wasn't talking about him, right?
"Hello, your Majesty," the blacksmith greeted King Sinbad before explaining: he had originally wanted to make a deal with the designer to make and sell scissors, but after finding out that person was the Prophet he wasn't sure if that was acceptable -the information from the Prophet's visions were the property of the King. The two had been working on a pitch together which Mori immediately got into since Sinbad was clearly available.
The King examined one of the pairs of scissors during the explanation. He could see how this allowed a higher level of finesse then shears or a knife for certain tasks. This would be a profitable and widespread product even if Mori's visions weren't right. Still, those eyes full of expectations just made him want to tease her. "You know Mori, I remember you agreeing to withhold on inventing things for the time being."
"Ah- Well..." Her surprise was cute. "I actually reinvented scissors before I made that agreement!"
He smiled down at her. "I'm not sure if that will be enough to convince Ja'far and the others."
Mori froze as she calculated her next strategy. The waves did not give Sinbad enough warning before she made her way over to him and placed her hands on his forearm. "You'll help me then," her fingers made his skin tingle, "right? My King?" Sinbad couldn't look away from the eyes glittering up at him.
How long had he been holding back only for Mori to touch him first? He'd relent even if she hadn't invented them beforehand; the production wasn't coming from the Palace budget anyway. "Of course." Sinbad smiled down at his Beautiful Prophet. He sheathed the scissors he was holding and turned to the blacksmith. "I brought Mori to Sindria so they could help all of my citizens thrive."
The conversation wrapped up quickly after that. And through the whole thing, the King couldn't stop thinking about the hands holding onto him so affectionately. Without looking, Sinbad put his free hand over one of Mori's to keep it on his arm a little longer. But it didn't stop her from pulling away after the blacksmith left.
The person pulling at his heart started to head back towards the stairs to return to the library. He wasn't ready to part ways yet, but there was also no reason he could think of to follow them back. "Mori. Would you tell me more over lunch?" He had been trying to keep their time together to a minimum for Mori's benefit, but if they were reaching out to him then it should be fine to take the next step, right?
The waves moved between them, and Mori looked back his way. "Oh. Um..."
"These inventions from your visions are so interesting. And we could discuss some potential future inventions."
Their smile was nervous but not forced. "Yeah. Okay."
Sinbad offered his arm to them like he did in the past when they walked together, but Mori declined even though she had just been clinging onto him so sweetly. They walked side by side, but the distance between them felt larger than before. She made his heart race and then dropped it when she got her way. It made him think of their first dinner together. She claimed she was seducing him just like he seduced others to get his way. He really had no idea how it felt to be on the receiving end until now.

~POV Mori~
Multiple scrolls laid out on the table in my room drying. I had reached the slave arc in copying down Fate. After drawing the first pic of Sinbad fighting little Masrur in the Coliseum, I couldn't bring myself to draw again until I reached Ja'far punching Sinbad when he was freed. I laid on the floor between the pools of light from the windows to cool down my ruminating.
Seeing Sinbad go through it and directly acknowledge how horrible it is and eventually go numb... There was an eerie beauty in it -like a memento mori. 'I'm disgusting.'
((CW until marked))
The Slave Arc is my favorite arc in the Adventures manga -not because of what happens, but because of how it affected me. When my mom was hospitalized, and then died, she could no longer stop me from seeking therapy. When I explained my home life and childhood to my personal therapist, I was told that it sounded like the stories of children raised in cults and manipulated to become slaves for the leaders. Even though it was a comparison I made when I was young, I thought it had to be inflated hyperbole until I read how Maader indoctrinated Sinbad and the slave children. I was never put in a collar, but I related way too much. It got me to look up actual cults and victim stories. The abuse I grew up in was the same level of high control.
My mom almost died having my sibling and it changed her. By the time I turned 10 I couldn't deny there was something wrong with how my parents treated us. The one thing saving us from complete brain washing was that they couldn't afford to home school us. I tried to ask outside adults for help, but my mom was too well known in the community and I didn't emote properly. So when I read the scene where Sinbad convinces the children to rebel, I cried. I didn't care that he was manipulating them from his perspective; he validated the pain they were hiding, and gave them agency long before I got it. Yes, many of the slave children died in the rebellion, but many also lived to finally be free. When the cruel refuse to stop nothing can change until someone dies. Many have risked their lives for that reason.
Just like them, I knew nothing would change in my life unless someone died. The conversation Sinbad has with himself after he remembers his life's purpose was very similar to the one I had with myself from 12-14 years old -especially after how my parents normalized suicide. I realized it wasn't worth the risk to fight back , but also I chose to stay living anyway at the last second so I could continue to protect Lyly from our parents; and when they were a little older, Lyly chose to live to support me too. 'You can't protect anyone if you're dead.' No one was coming to save us so we had to learn to survive and protect ourselves. ((Yes, the thing Mori said to Alibaba in ch6 was this mantra I made for myself))
Our mother was already working herself to an early grave when I was child. She was rapidly aging from stress. I knew we had a strong chance of outliving her as long as we were able to hold on. Still, I wish she would have changed before she was on her deathbed. Her last words were an apology to Lyly. Things greatly improved after our mom died in 2016. Knowing how things were going for the other me, gave me peace of mind. Both versions were healing. I didn't feel as guilty for wanting to stay in this world anymore.
((End of CW))
Tumblr media
I needed breaks because, just like being reminded of my own past, Sinbad wasn't just a character to me anymore. It felt wrong to draw any scene where he was shackled. Even if I never showed him this scroll, I didn't want to immortalize it. There were a few panels I had always wanted to redraw because they helped me process my own experience, but now that I was in this world I couldn't do it. If I ever drew them for the catharsis, I'd have to burn them afterwards. Each time I reached the plot points for one of those panels I had to step away and go through the same cycle of thoughts before I returned to the table and continued writing without drawing again.
"Ugh~" Who would have guessed that writing would help me process and get the ruminating out of my system? Me, actually, because this is always how I process things. I had separate scrolls for my ruminations so they wouldn't get in the way of the Fate scrolls, and because I kept writing in a circle. At least each time the rants got shorter. I'd already written this or that, and continuing to write the same thing gets frustrating to the point that I am forced to move forward. Like all types of mourning, it will always be there, but it can't hold me down forever unless I let it.
I couldn't stop the waves of disgust I had for myself. When I had originally read this arc, it carved Sinbad into my heart. It made me think, 'This person would understand me.' But I wasn't projecting my experience onto a character anymore; I was projecting it onto a real person who went through far worse than I ever did. I pressed my palms into my eyes. Ruminating was far easier than addressing this. I had to strip away all of my projections so I could see him clearly. And not just the Sinbad I read about, but the one who talked to me regularly and called me '(his) Beautiful Prophet.' Sinbad said he wanted to find a new path, but what would it even look like? What would it take for me to recognize it?
((I forgot to draw the curtains again...I really don't want to fix it though, so please pretend there are curtains framing the window.))
Tumblr media
The sound of fluttering drew my attention. I had left my windows open on purpose in case Sinbird decided to stop by, but I also didn't think I would cycle this hard. I removed my hands from my eyes and looked up to see the possessed bird in one of the windows watching me.
"Hi, Sin. I'm okay. Just doing a big think, and that's easier from the floor."
The bird flew from the window to perch on one of the chairs at the table.
"I've been working on Fate scrolls. I want to get a few more done before I pass them off to you. I know this room probably isn't the most secure-"
'The vent scroll!' I sat up with a jolt and stumbled my way to the table after getting up too quickly. Sinbird flapped his wings in surprise when I yanked the vent scroll off the table. "This one is personal." I started rolling it up. "I don't mind talking about my past or feelings if you ask, but I'd rather you didn't read my unfiltered thoughts."
The bird watched me. I wished I knew what he was thinking.
I walked across the room, and put the tied scroll within the growing pile filling one of my bedside dressers. "It would be nice if I had somewhere to store these. This room isn't exactly designed for me to be using it as an office."
Wings flapped behind me and the bird landed on my shoulder as I turned to see what he was up to. He gave a small trill and I had the feeling he was proud of himself for something.
"We're both lucky that bird doesn't have talons, you know?" I was definitely going to need perches for him, and to start wearing a shoulder cloth that I wouldn't have to worry about getting pulls. As the bird watched me innocently another thought struck me, 'I probably shouldn't ask for a cat if I'm going to be visited by a bird frequently.'
((Hey, so you know how I said I was all better when I posted the last chapter? Apparently I was in the incubation period of COVID. It's out of my system now, but brain fog from long covid is kicking my ass. I had a bad fall last month because of it and got scraped up a bunch (including a little road rash). It's been 3 weeks and there's just the faintest remains of a scab left :D Just in time for my birthday (today) too! Here's hoping that my bad luck era is over!
Also, I am in a Magi server on discord. https://discord.gg/R5yzce4e I'm there all the time (and an admin). We talk about Magi, OCs, and fanfiction a lot))

Disabled Queer Salish Sea Artist Seeking Some Community Support
Hi lovely people! Would you mind boosting my Salish Sea marine science art? My contract job is on an unexpected hiatus until sometime in July and so my income the next couple months is really dependent on the markets I'm doing and online sales. Scroll for photos of my work.
https://shop.noncompliantcyborg.com/
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Other circumstances stuff under the cut
The timing of this is already additionally tough because mid-June I start my summer project as a visiting researcher at Rosario Beach Marine Lab, which I was (am still hopefully) going to be doing community fundraising for both in my local area and online but I've been delaying actively seeking that support out.
This is both because I wanted to have a solid equipment budget confirmed first and then also I've been feeling some serious impostor syndrome with a pretty hefty side of "there are so many humanitarian crises and survival needs fundraisers that people should be funding, how can I ask anyone to support me in doing naturalist documentation and 3D imaging of Salish Sea animals for sci-comm right now?"
It doesn't help that now that I've gotten some equipment quotes it's looking like roughly 5k for just the big ticket items and I don't know how much little incidental stuff will add up and that doesn't even consider any compensation for my labor. Also with the lag time on getting said equipment unless I magically fundraised that super fast stuff the time I'd have to complete the build and collect data could be very tight.
My back up plan is to just do a lot of studio type photography and videography for sci-comm content and art prints. Also embryology work if they have the proper dish-ware I can check out. But I'm still worried about what it does to people's perceptions of me if I don't pull off the project I wanted to. Being disabled and having to create your own non-traditional opportunities and coordinate everything that goes into that because science largely is inaccessible is exhausting. And it's extra exhausting trying to do all that while also trying to piece together accessible ways to financially support yourself.
Anyways, thank you for any support or solidarity you can offer whether through sharing, getting art, or otherwise.

such a productive day today.
☁️ went to school to pay for the alumni fee.
☁️ nag drop off ng orders from last night and early this morning.
☁️ nag gawa ng admin tasks na pinakisuyo ng friend ko na freelancer din (ofc, paid yon ih).
☁️ attended org meeting sa school for almost 2hrs and talked about the incoming election for the new execs since marami-marami kaming outgoing officers, the transition, and even also the orientation for the incoming first year.
☁️ nag print ng requirements for work para di ako mahahassle ng sunday.
☁️ nag-ayos ng medical documentation and minake sure ko na updated from 2023-2024.
☁️ nag pack ng orders ng hapon and kanina (sale kasi).
☁️ tracked my budget, remaining payables for this month gusto ko malaki ang ma out ko until next week para malaki mabawas.
sana ganito din yung sipag ko on monday magaan lang ang life for the first three days since puro orientation lang. hopefully rin, maaga uwi ko or masunod talaga siya. sana rin magustuhan ko
apparently, i asked my mom to retire na. yes, early retirement kasi she's 51 palang. Whole month of august kasi ata mag-kaaway sila ng boss niya. and i told her na if she really feel na toxic na ang environment, leave. gawin niya panimula ng business yung separation pay niya at the same time siya mag manage ng business ko while i'm working. and natotorete na rin ako kasi everytime na dadating siya hanggang makatulog siya nagdadadaldal siya. what if highblood-in nanaman siya o atakihin siya, di rin naman nila ipapagamot mom ko. also there's one concern din kami ng brother ko na gusto namin matigil so when i messaged him and told him what happened, he said go. i mean di naman sa nagmamalaki kami or what pero it's not healthy na rin kung lagi sa kanya nabubuhos yung galit na hindi naman dapat.
good night!

Give me money
Cathrine harassing the king of Frostheim
Work is acc slowly killing me, I tried my best proof reading but if there’s any mistakes my baaaaad
Cathrine slammed a stack of papers onto the coffee table that stood between her and Jin, a scowl on her face as she lit up a cigarette and slumped onto the white sofa behind her, crossing her legs as she waited impatiently.
Jim glanced at her in disinterest, holding out a cigarette for her to light up. Watching as her scowl deepened and she lent forward using her daisy printed lighter to comply with the King’s demands. He took a hit of it, he was laying on his usual sofa gazing up at the ceiling in a calm blank manner.
“What is it?”
He sighed as he took another puff, lazily glancing over to her once more as she tapped her foot and checked the time on her watch.
“Can’t you read?”
Jin rolled his eyes sitting up as he glared at down at her.
“If you’re not able to explain it without it being written down, then I don’t want to he-“
She aggressively stubbed out her cigarette in the glass ashtray, the sound interrupting Jin as he raised an eyebrow at her.
“It’s a cryogenic chamber.”
He sighed once again before going to lie back onto the sofa.
“You want me to buy you a cryogenic chamber?”
He scoffed, laughing at the incredulous request as a stony expression came over her…of course she’s asking for money, Jin felt a little disappointed, the bold girl usually brought a heat that’s been greatly lost from Frostheim for a while, a verbal slayer that made people leave them alone when she was around.
“I want you to fund me to build a better chamber, one that can hold those who are cursed and those in the process of turning into an anomaly-you think normal human ones would be enough for that? Don’t make me laugh, plus you’d need access to the person’s blood or just the person themselves and the vitals to keep check of it all, you can have the patent, you can sell it to whoever I don’t give a fuck. But, with this we could save so many people-if we just keep them frozen until we find them a cure!”
She was standing now, a passionate monologue as Jin found himself sitting up, spun and mesmerised by her speech…he looked through the papers, repeatedly glancing up at her as he could feel the pressure of her stare as she awaited his answer.
“…would you be using it for yourself?”
He quietly asked as she sighed, lighting another cigarette.
“I don’t know yet…depends how bad it…evolves, I guess is the word we can use.”
He nodded as he stared blankly at the budget.
2852559178.50 yen
“It’s only that high because of our time limit.”
Jin snubbed out his cigarette and Cathrine grabbed one of her own seven stars and lit it handing it over to Jin, who looked slightly disgusted as he took it-it was not his usual sobranie cigarettes and he tried to take a puff before immediately wincing and chucking it into the ashtray, quickly grabbing his own from his pocket. Cathrine rolled her eyes at the action as Jin sighed looking over the documents.
How could she ask for so little?
Is what he was actually thinking, a budget this small to achieve everything is impressive especially in the strict timescale she’s planned out…she wants to do it all in just three months.
“We’ll talk to Thoma and try to look over your proposal and outline a contract for you.”
Her eyes widened as she blinked owlishly at him in surprise.
Of course he’ll be giving her a bigger budget, but he won’t reveal that until it’s needed.
“For real?”
He texted Thoma, demanding his presence as he continued reading her proposal.
“There’ll be some demands from our side but as long as you’re agreeable…”
———————————————————
“No fucking way.”
She slumped back into her chair, taking a sip of her mocha latte as Thoma pursed his lips staring her down. She threw the contract across the table and watched as one landed on top of Jin, who was feigning being asleep to avoid the conflict that’s been going on for…3 hours now.
“How can we allow a project we’re funding to be done in another House’s laboratory? we’ll just build you one here.”
She rolled her eyes slamming her hand onto a table.
“-and waste funds and resources that could be put into the actual research and for the fucking material for the chamber itself?”
Thoma gritted his teeth as he stood slightly straighter, sipping his tea with a contained rage that Jin found fun to watch.
“Mortkranken wouldn’t be okay with our involvement Ms.Cathrine. How do you propose we go about conducting this project if we wouldn’t even be able to go in and check on the progress ourselves? You are already bouncing from house to house, would this not just cause unwanted aggravation.”
She paused as she was about to light another cigarette, her almost full pack was nearly empty as she chain smoked throughout the ordeal.
“Then it won’t be at mortkranken, you could build a lab next to or within the cathedral-I do have my own shed that I’m using at the moment but to hold the tools I need-or hmm maybe vagastrom?”
She smirked as Thoma’s brow twitched as he withheld the deep sigh within him as he took a long pause before answering the smug woman. Jin raising a brow at Thoma’s clear irritation at the mention of vagastrom.
“If you’re concerned about keeping yourselves updated on my projects, both Kaito and Luca can be my little lab assistants…twice a week and give you thorough reports, I’ll even help them write it.”
Jin tried to hide the smirk on his face as he thought Thoma’s Monocle was actually going to crack from annoyance.
“What about your classes?”
Cathrine cackled and took a puff of her cigarette, leaning back into the uncomfortable chair and laying an arm around the top of the back as she recrossed her legs.
“It’s bold of you to think I have time to even attend lessons or that I’d actually waste it, going to them.”
Jin turned to his side, casually leaning his head against his hand as he watched Cathrine curiously.
Thoma leaned forward glaring at her as he also unconsciously copied Jin and leaned onto his hand, using his knee as a prop as Cathrine awaited his response.
“They just let you do that?”
She laughed again this time less of a cackle and more of a gentle song as she shook her head, Jin found it hard to not concentrate on the way her hair moves with her, her eyes sparkling with mirth-she really was bewitching.
“Absolutely not~Mobey tried to chase me down once but professor Nicolas at least lets me work in the hospital and covers for me a lot of the time!”
She grinned before sighing as she laid her head onto the arm of the chair, using her hands as a substitute pillow as her tiredness started to hit her hard. She took a big gulp of coffee and hopes that’ll keep her awake for the rest of this.
“Well, what do you think? Do we have a deal?”
Thoma rubbed at his temples and started checking through her proposal again and the original contract he pulled together when Jin demanded his presence.
She was a fierce opponent, a tiger ready to strike at anytime, she always has a witty comeback or answer for everything making her an entertaining rival, until it gets to points like these where he wants to strangle her.
“…You have a deal, we’ll start preparations to build your…lab, tomorrow. I’ll re-do the contract, though I will be adding more things that you can review.”
She nodded and pulled out her phone, furiously texting someone before grabbing a card out of her pocket.
“This is the number of my lawyer, any paperwork send his way and he’ll review it as well, it’s the first year of sinostra. The lab doesn’t have to be next next to my place but if it’s within a 10-15 walking distance that would be pleasant.”
She pulled out a map, that had three different anomalous buildings circled, all sprouted up a year ago and still hadn’t been used yet so she thought it was prime real estate.
She handed it over to Thoma who looked it over and added it to the mountain of paperwork. Taking the card as well sighing as he realised he’d have to go through both Ritsu and her for this contract, a challenge he was more than willing to comply with but he can’t promise who will come out alive at the end of it.
“Thanks for the money~bye.”
She shot up, stretching out her back, Thoma looking in disgust as three deep clicks could be heard from her spine as she enthusiastically waved goodbye, all annoyance and anger seemed to seep away once she got what she wanted.
The two men watched as she walked out, not bothering to look back at them as she hurriedly left the room, excitedly calling up someone on the phone.
“So Ed guess what-“
Jin rolled his eyes as he forced himself into a sitting up position.
“I don’t get how she can be friends with that bloodsucker.”
Jin grumbled as he leaned to over to look at the paperwork.
Thoma breathed out deeply through his nose as he aimed daggers at the door she just exited from.
“They do say birds of a feather…”
Thoma replied, as he started aggressively shuffling the papers.
Jin huffed as he flopped back down, staring at the ceiling once more, he propped a cigarette in his mouth and waited patiently for Thoma to light it.
Thoma did of course as his king demanded, leaning in close as he lit it up for him, Jin stared into his eyes taking a deep inhale before blowing the smoke in his face.
“Birds of a feather, is that right?”

Bookbinding/Fan binding for beginners by... a beginner PART ONE
SO YOU WANNA BE A FANBINDER EH!?
RIGHT! so it felt like maybe it might be sorta kinda helpful to put something about a 'how to do the thing' together. Buckle in this is going to be a ride and a half. Edit as of November 16th 2023 The Master List for EVERYTHING is
HERE
SO, first thing is first- if you're fan binding there is a bit of etiquette to follow. But it is just good manners to ask permission to fan bind the fic you're interested in. See if the author has a FAQ available where they state the Yay or the Nay. Submit a DM or a comment. But as a note of disclaimer- this is for PERSONAL USE ONLY. THIS IS NOT MEANT TO BE SOLD ANYWHERE. LOOKING AT YOU ETSY FAN FIC SELLERS THAT CAN GET EVERYONE INTO A FUCK TON OF TROUBLE. That is a breech of fair use laws. Don't breech fair use laws. Don't be a dick.
If you happen to have a EPUB or PDF copy of a fic that has been deleted and you wish to bind it or if you receive no response to the author in question, nod your head, know that you did your best and proceed on with the project and make your fic to put on your shelf. Sleep well knowing you did your best and you can do nothing else.
But if you receive a Nay- don't be a dick honour the author's choice and plop the fic on your ereader and call it good.
Now that we got that all out of the way. ONWARD!
MATERIALS! Musts: (The optional materials will be marked as "OP") Access to a Word processor Printer with duplex printing (It prints on both sides of the page) Fic Printer Paper- regular printer paper is FINE if you're being budget conscious. But if you'd like to splurge:
Hammermill Copy Paper But the Most bang for your buck is Church's Paper
Please note: These are US based links, and I am going from what and where I am located you might have to go to a local paper shop. If you want your book to feel very book-like see if your paper shop can take 11 x 17 paper and cut it in half for you which yields 8.5 x 11 paper on the short grain (paper has a grain there is a stiff side and a floppy side, much like fabric, by cutting the paper in half it makes it more 'floppy' and thus more book like)
a punch cradle I use one made by HoneyMinCo - or some sort of punch guide
Awl
Glue- Elmer's Glue All, Tacky, Lineco , PH Neutral all will do what you need it to do
Waxed linen thread
Curved Needles
Book press- you can make these for cheap with wooden cutting boards, bolts and wing nuts.
A brush you don't mind getting glue all over or you can use a silicone face mask brush like this hell I even use my fingers at times
box cutter or any sort of cutting tool, rotary tool
scissors
metal rulers help
spacers (Not necessary but helpful to have you can also DIY this for cheap) OP
Davy Board/Chip Board/Book Board AKA dense AF cardboard
and some sort of thick paper- like a cardstock
bone folder - butter knives also work in a pinch
Recommendations:
For Printers- Epson ECO Tanks are the best bang for your your buck ink wise and has duplex printing. Inkjet and colour options. Some binders swear by laser printers for speed and the general look for the final product but use what you have. Just make sure you have extra ink on hand.
The upfront costs can be pretty steep but a lot of the materials can be steep but you can get crafty and raid a dollar store and charity shops.
Up Next- How to get a Fic from AO3 to your word processor and how to format a document to get it ready for printing and likely more links, and some people to watch on TikTok or Youtube.
Edit: 11/1/2023:
There is a Fan Binding Starter Kit Found here

Is there anyway you could publish physical copies of Perfect Slaughter? 👀 maybe with all the fanart in it too? (With artist permission and hopefully payment of course) I don't have the words to explain how much this story has meant to me but, thank you. Thank you.
Hey anon 😊
What a question! I looked into it, and sourcing physical copies on my end wouldn't be feasible budget-wise. I'd need to order in bulk, at least 50 probably, and I don't think there's enough readers (as lovely as you all are) who I could rely on to order it from me and make sure I'd so much as break even. Remember, this thing is 200k+ words!!
Now, I do plan on editing, reformatting from ao3, and creating a nice printable document for my own little bookbinding project in the next few months. If people are interested in that, I could make this version available via ko-fi! (Otherwise, you are of course welcome to do the same on your own, I found solid-if-complicated instructions here.) Then, you could either DIY-bind it yourself or order a one-time print on your own (B&N has a service, for example). Or who knows, if I get really good at bookbinding it might be feasible in the future to offer it for others--but even then I'm not sure the price would be reasonable, given the hours it'd take.
I'd love for at least some of the art to get featured in my print, and I'll definitely be reaching out to obtain permissions, but that has to wait till after the fic is done 🥰
If anyone has any questions (or advice on this admittedly complicated matter) please let me know! I'm so glad the story has been so meaningful for you anon, you are very welcome 🩵🩵

Booking flights, trains, and hotels is a crucial part of the process, and doing it right can save you time, money, and stress. Here’s a comprehensive guide to help you navigate the planning stage and make your travel seamless.
Step 1: Deciding on Your Destination
Before diving into bookings, choose your destination and dates. Research the best times to visit, considering weather, local events, and travel costs. Flexibility with your dates can often lead to significant savings.
BOOK NOW
Step 2: Booking Flights
1. Start Early, But Not Too EarlyFlight prices fluctuate, and booking too early or too late can be expensive. Aim for the sweet spot — typically 1–3 months in advance for domestic flights and 3–6 months for international trips.
2. Compare Prices Across PlatformsUse flight comparison websites like Skyscanner, Google Flights, or Kayak to find the best deals. These tools allow you to compare prices across multiple airlines and choose the most budget-friendly option.
3. Be Flexible with Airports and DatesFlying from or into alternate airports can often save you money. Similarly, traveling midweek or during off-peak seasons typically offers lower fares.
4. Check for Hidden FeesLow-cost airlines might lure you in with cheap base fares but charge extra for luggage, seat selection, and meals. Factor these costs into your decision.
BOOK NOW
Step 3: Booking Train Tickets
1. Research Your OptionsIf you’re traveling in a region with excellent train networks, such as Europe or Japan, trains can be a convenient and scenic alternative to flights. Look into regional passes, like Eurail or Japan Rail Pass, for unlimited travel options.
2. Book in AdvanceJust like flights, booking train tickets in advance can save you money and secure better seats. Many countries offer discounts for early bookings.
3. Consider Overnight TrainsOvernight trains can double as transportation and accommodation, saving you time and money. Opt for sleeper cabins for added comfort.
BOOK NOW
Step 4: Booking Hotels
1. Determine Your PrioritiesWhat matters most to you — location, amenities, or price? Make a list of must-haves, such as free Wi-Fi, breakfast, or proximity to attractions, to narrow down your options.
2. Use Trusted Booking PlatformsWebsites like Booking.com, Agoda, or Expedia provide extensive options and customer reviews to help you make an informed choice. Many platforms offer free cancellation policies for added flexibility.
3. Check for Deals and PackagesLook for package deals that include flights, hotels, and even activities. These bundles often provide significant discounts.
4. Read Reviews CarefullyPhotos can be deceiving, so rely on reviews from other travelers to get an accurate picture of the property. Pay attention to recent reviews for the most up-to-date information.

Step 5: Combine and Save
1. Use Travel Rewards ProgramsSign up for airline, hotel, and credit card reward programs. Points and miles can translate into free flights, hotel stays, or upgrades.
2. Consider All-In-One Booking PlatformsSites like Expedia, Travelocity, and Trip.com allow you to book flights, trains, and hotels in one place, often at discounted rates.

Heya, Cloudy-Cloud! Hope your day is as great as you are (HA! Beat you to it- HEHEHE-)
If you're feeling up to it, can I please request a soft, cuddly lee! Sigma ler!Nikolai drabble? I don't have too much of an idea for a prompt, I honestly just want to see the overworked casino man curled up in bed and covering his mouth, trying not to giggle himself to sleep . Also, *SOMEHOW* Siglai has crept its way into my brain 🤣 (But if you're more comfy writing it platonically, do that!). Feel free to decline, as always and have a super awesome day!
-Cutie-patootie anon (Nope, never subscribing to that name, tell Aiden I'm coming for him for that😭)
Hope your- wait a sec.
Aiden's response, I quote "GOTTA FIND ME FIRST. And how would we recognize our favorite anon?? Without a suitable nickname!!"
Tumblr media
Fandom: BSD (Boungo Stray Dogs)
Lee: Sigma
Ler: Nikolai Gogol
Tw: lots of tickles (surprising isn't it?) Nikolai and Fyodor themselves are a whole tw (Fyodor is only mentioned)
Tumblr media
Sigma groaned as he rubbed his tired eyes, staring down at the pile of paperwork in front of him. There was always an endless sea of documents, budgets, schedules and forms to fill out. He had been at it for hours, long past midnight, and his vision was starting to swim from exhaustion.
Just a few more minutes, he told himself, struggling to focus on the tiny print. But his eyes refused to cooperate, drooping lower with each passing second. He knew if he didn't get up and move around, he would surely pass out at his desk.
"my favorite little dove~~" a voice rang, comically loud, making the exhausted man snap his eyes open.
It was then that Nikolai materialized out of the shadows, as if summoned by Sigma's sleepy state. "Still working, I see." His voice was smooth as silk, but held an undercurrent of menace. As one of Fyodor's "friends", Nikolai took great pleasure in tormenting others. "I had the time to finish everything Dos-kun told me to do and here you are, still working on boring papers !"
Sigma replied with an incoherent mumble, too tired to muster a proper retort. Nikolai tutted, prowling closer. "You won't be any use if you work yourself into an early grave. I think it's time for a break."
Before Sigma could protest, Nikolai swept him up into powerful arms. Sigma squawked in surprise, flailing weakly as Nikolai began carrying him from the office. "Relax. I'm taking you to rest, not to torment you. At least not yet, my dove" His chuckle sent a shiver down Sigma's spine.
Nikolai deposited Sigma onto a plush chaise lounge, joining him and pulling the casino owner back against his chest. Despite his earlier plans of escape, Sigma found himself melting into the contact, warm and solid. Nikolai's fingers began tracing teasing circles over Sigma's sides, eliciting unwilling giggles. "See? Isn't this better than slaving away?"
As Sigma was near falling asleep , the silver haired one gazed down at the man in his arms with an uncharacteristic softness. His facade of cruelty hid a deep fondness for his loved one, one he was loathe to show.
But Sigma looked too adorable snuggled against his chest, lips parted in almost peaceful slumber. Nikolai couldn't resist the temptation. His fingers began delicately skimming Sigma's sides once more, lightly scratching in the spots he knew were most ticklish.
Sigma snuffled adorably, squirming in his embrace. "Nn, stop..." he mumbled, still trying to lose himself in dreams. Nikolai chuckled, increasing the pace of his tickling. Soon breathy giggles escaped Sigma as he drifted back to full wakefulness.
"Nikolai...please..." Sigma gasped between peals of laughter. His eyes fluttered open, bleary with mirth. "You're cruel..."
"Only to you, my sweet dove," Nikolai purred, leaning down to nuzzle Sigma's cheek. His fingers slowed their attack to gentle caresses. "How else would you stay on your toes around me, hmm?~"
Sigma huffed, relaxing against Nikolai's chest. For once, he didn't argue. The feeling of being ensconced in these arms, safe from the outside world, was too comforting to deny.
"Get some more rest, my darling. I'll watch over you." Nikolai pressed a soft kiss to Sigma's temple, holding him securely. "But I can't guarantee your ticklish little tummy being safe" he grinned, poking said body part eliciting a squeal out of Sigma
Against all logic, the sleepy one had to admit perhaps Nikolai was right. Just this once, a break was what he needed most. He drifted to sleep in Nikolai's embrace, the safest and most comfortable he had felt in a long while.

project 2025 || the presidental transition project
and what you need to know
in this post i will be explaining the main talking points of 2025 taken directly from their website and expanding upon them and explaining how they could effect you. this post is simply for information and there will be other posts that are specifically for providing resources that can combat this to the best of our ability. i do not support any of these things, all quotes are taken direcly from the project 2025 website/pdf file.
please note: trump has stated that he has not endorsed project 2025 in any way however, many of the people that have made this document work with him and endorse him. do with that information what you will.
things project 2025 state they will do
Secure the border, finish building the wall, and deport illegal aliens " To truly secure the homeland, a conservative Administration needs to return the department to the right mission, the right size, and the right budget. This would include reorganizing the department and shifting significant resources away from several supporting components to the essential operational components. Prioritizing border security and immigration enforcement, including detention and deportation, is critical if we are to regain control of the border, repair the historic damage done by the Biden Administration, return to a lawful and orderly immigration system, and protect the homeland from terrorism and public safety threats. This also includes consolidating the pieces of the fragmented immigration system into one agency to fulfill the mission more e ciently." (page 135, chapter 5) 💙 project 2025 plans to expand upon their homeland security efforts which for them means making it more difficult for immigrants to live and stay in the united states. if you are an immigrant, regardless of where you are from or if you have documentaztion expect to be questioned and subjected to an even higher amount of xenophobia. if you have family memebers, friends or you yourself are in the united states without proper documentation expect to be harrassed and dealing with unjust treatment. good luck if you have a noticeable accent.
De-weaponize the Federal Government by increasing accountability and oversight of the FBI and DOJ " Ordered liberty is at risk when our citizens lack physical safety, when career criminals do not fear the law, when foreign cartels move narcotics and illegal aliens into our nation at will, and when political leaders call citizens “domestic terrorists” for exercising their constitutional rights. The Department of Justice—in partnership with state and local partners—must recommit in both word and deed to protecting public safety. " ( page 548 chaper 17 ) this is a dog whistle. the tightening up of the government is purely to harm citizens that they do not agree with including immigrants. if you are an immigrant (as stated in the last policy) please take a fighting class or something. also i implore you to read the entireity of chapter seventeen and see how they plan on further harming citizens through FBI and DOJ.
Unleash American energy production to reduce energy prices "The new energy crisis is caused not by a lack of resources, but by extreme “green” policies. Under the rubrics of “combating climate change” and “ESG” (environmental, social, and governance), the Biden Administration, Congress, and various states, as well as Wall Street investors, international corporations, and progressive special-interest groups, are changing America’s energy landscape." (page 363 chapter 12) 💙 this is why we should always read the fine print. while the conservative government claims they want to help americans by reducing the cost of energy this will come at the cost of our planet that is already dying. energy will now be left into the hands of companies that pollute our states and make low income areas unlivble. if you are living in a state that has frequent natural disasters expect more natural disasters, expect more extreme differences in weather such as very cold winters and very hot summers. this change will happen gradually, but do not expect our climate to be the same by 2029.
Cut the growth of government spending to reduce inflation " DOT would also reduce unnecessary burdens by returning to the Trump Administration’s “rule on rules” approach to regulations, implemented in late 2019 as RIN 2105-AE84.4 This rule strengthened the Administration’s e ort to remove outdated regulations, find cost-saving reforms, and clarify that guidance documents are in fact guidance rather than mandatory impositions. The Biden Administration unwisely moved away from this reform, and the next Administration should revive it without delay. " ( page 622 chapter 19 ) 💙 it was difficult to pick a quote that showed how project 2025 intends to not only hurt our (the peasants) wallets but also reduce the cost for the government by allowing privately owned companies to run transportation. these outdated rules and regulations have kept us safe for years so expect boeing levels of safety in your bus route.
Make federal bureaucrats more accountable to the democratically elected President and Congress " Fortunately, a President who is willing to lead will find in the Executive Office of the President (EOP) the levers necessary to reverse this trend and impose a sound direction for the nation on the federal bureaucracy. The e ectiveness of those EOP levers depends on the fundamental premise that it is the President’s agenda that should matter to the departments and agencies that operate under his constitutional authority and that, as a general matter, it is the President’s chosen advisers who have the best sense of the President’s aims and intentions, both with respect to the policies he intends to enact and with respect to the interests that must be secured to govern successfully on behalf of the American people. " ( page 44 chapter 2 ) 💙 so this is clearly stating that the president is only going to elect people that are going to help him achieve his goals and help him with his needs. goodbye checks and balances, expect to see a lot more crazy policies that will effect everyone negatively because it is made more difficult to oppose him.
Improve education by moving control and funding of education from DC bureaucrats directly to parents and state and local governments " Rather than continuing to buttress a higher education establishment captured by woke “diversicrats” and a de facto monopoly enforced by the federal accreditation cartel, federal postsecondary education policy should prepare students for jobs in the dynamic economy, nurture institutional diversity, and expose schools to greater market forces. " (page 320 chapter 11) 💙 this is essentially calling for the complete resructure of an already crappy college system in america. on the grand scale of things, i am not sure what this will mean for current college students, but i do know that you can kiss your FASFA goodbye and your funding. this is essentially ensuring that only the most wealthy elite white poeple are getting a proper education, especially when we consider that they are planning on taking away accreditaion policies, your degree may not be credible if they feel it unnecessary.
Ban biological males from competing in women' s sports 💙 this is stupid, no biological men are currently competing in adults womens sports and if you believe that you cannot be helped.
(DIS)HONOURABLE MENTION - things i found while going through that stupid ass document. " From the moment of conception, every human being possesses inherent dignity and worth, and our humanity does not depend on our age, stage of development, race, or abilities. The Secretary must ensure that all HHS programs and activities are rooted in a deep respect for innocent human life from day one until natural death: Abortion and euthanasia are not health care. " (page 450 chapter 14) " Radical actors inside and outside government are promoting harmful identity politics that replaces biological sex with subjective notions of “gender identity” and bases a person’s worth on his or her race, sex, or other identities. This destructive dogma, under the guise of “equity,” threatens American’s fundamental liberties as well as the health and well-being of children and adults alike. The next Secretary must ensure that HHS programs protect children’s minds and bodies and that HHS programs respect parents’ basic right to direct the upbringing, education, and care of their children. " (page 450 chapter 14)
" Families comprised of a married mother, father, and their children are the foundation of a well-ordered nation and healthy society. Unfortunately, family policies and programs under President Biden’s HHS are fraught with agenda items focusing on “LGBTQ+ equity,” subsidizing single-motherhood, disincentivizing work, and penalizing marriage. These policies should be repealed and replaced by policies that support the formation of stable, married, nuclear families. " (page 451 chapter 14)
