This is Elaf, a once passionate medical student and the oldest daughter of a single mom with no job and a responsibility of 5 children to raise, I was awaiting the moment to graduate and reward my mother for all her sacrifices, but the faith had another claim, my mother, 3 sisters, brother, and aunt were forced to leave our house by the RSF under all kinds of violence and terrorism, they have occupied our house and left us with nothing. Thankfully, they made it alive to escape to Al-Gizera where they thought it would be safe and in peace. A few months later the RSF entered Madani, bringing with them destruction, chaos, massacre and the threat of unspeakable horrors. My family got displaced for the second time and trapped in inhumane conditions, in a place without shelter, internet, or basic human needs, but with all the possibilities of attack, sexual abuse, and even merciless death. It's really beyond excruciation to be displaced and refugee inside a country that supposed to be your home, isn't it?
I am terrified about my mother who is a hypertensive and asthmatic patient and could develop any further cardiovascular/respiratory diseases due to the unimaginable stress and fear, lack of medications, and limited access to food. I am scared about my sisters who aren't safe among terrorists who use sexual abuse against girls and women to remark their false and illusory victory. I am afraid of the unknown future of my 12 years old sister who is deprived of her rights of education and forced to be homeless while other children are going to school, and I feel the pain for my young brother who is doing labor work to provide what merely could make them alive while he is supposed to study and build his future, without forgetting the race and color based discrimination against him that could identity him falsely as a terrorist and then get massacred.
Now I am reaching out to you to help us in our fight for survival, to give my family the chance to live the life they deserve. Your donation will re-birth a dream that has been deprived, a life that has been stolen, and a hope that never been felt by my family. I am humbly asking you to help me reunite with my family in a safer place and help them flee Sudan to unite with me in Rwanda.
Funds will be used to pay for traveling from Port Sudan to Rwanda through Uganda, as well as to meet entry requirements and basic living expenses when in Rwanda. A specific budget breakdown is included at the bottom.
Budget Breakdown:
250 USD per person to travel to Port Sudan = 1500 USD
850 USD flights ticket to Uganda from Port Sudan per person = 5100 USD
30 USD per person times six people to board a bus from Uganda to Rwanda = 180 USD
4000 USD for rental arrangements for the first three months
150 USD for residency permit per person = 900 USD
3000 USD minimum cash show to enter Rwanda
1500 USD is for emergency as we pay all the transportation in Sudan in local currency and the exchange rate is not fixed as well as the traveling ticket itself, it depends on the field progress of the army between cities. From September to December the air tickets have been increased twice from 550 USD to 650 USD to 850 USD now!
Total of 16,180 USD.
$12228 / $17000

Low Income T Riders:
The Rollout of the Low Income MBTA fare program is in the public comment phase until Feb. 29.
Comment here:
Email [email protected]
Call (857) 327-3282
Mail to:
Public Engagement Department
10 Park Plaza, Suite 3830
Boston, MA 02116
Meetings to discuss changes are Here all over boston starting today.
Talking points:
Free bus fare would contribute to higher on-time rates and decreased bunching from lower stop times
Free bus fare would reduce administrative costs for low income rider programs to zero
Free Bus Fare would reduce violence on the T: Fares are the single most common flash point for driver assault
Free Bus fare would increase mobility for lower income people who have been demonstrated to increase their use of transit if fares are reduced.
The MBTA, like the NY Subway, should have its budget balanced by Tolls, Gas, Vehicle Licensing, vehicle rental, Payroll and Real Estate taxes as a direct incentive for businesses to switch operations away from private vehicles and towards public transit
Please reblog this if you like the shitposts, I want people engaging with the MBTA political process

My mom has been battling stage 3 pancreatic cancer and 2 days ago, she completed her 4th chemotherapy session. She has 2 more to go before they assess it to remove the tumor.
She was diagnosed on November 28, 2023. She began chemotherapy December 26, 2023 and was admitted to the emergency room later that day from complications. She was discharged December 29, 2023 and my family came down to Florida on December 30, 2023.
On her birthday, January 2, 2024, after her follow-up meeting with her oncologist. She was feeling defeated about how things had been happening since her diagnosis. She vocalized no desire to live in front of us (including my 12 year old daughter (her only grandchild)).
My family (my spouse, daughter & myself), at the suggestion of my spouse made the commitment to be her ongoing support system. This is so she could make whatever decision she wanted regarding how she chooses to proceed with her diagnosis.
I personally committed to split time between our 2 bedroom home in Durham, North Carolina & her 1 bedroom apartment in Fort Lauderdale, Florida to make sure we could commit to her health treatment planned as it began taking effect on December 26, 2023.
We did not request anything from anybody and agreed to take on the additional financial burdens it would place on us to fulfill this commitment, (despite knowing we weren't in the financial situation to do so).
We arranged things so my spouse and daughter could return to school in NC on January 8th. I stayed back with my mom for that chemo week. Since I'm a business owner with time flexibility, I would make the trips and stay with my mom throughout the treatment windows in Florida.
This agreement means renting a car for an one-way trip to North Carolina or Florida weekly (a $200-275 expense & 11-14 hours of travel time per trip). The first time we brought her up to NC ever, my spouse drove our car down to get us and then shared in the responsibility of driving back to NC. It cost us $250 in fuel and food for the trip. We realized it gave my mom & I more flexibility in travel days, saved on time spent on the road, and cost the same to just rent a car (Chevrolet Malibu) for each trip.
This agreement meant now sourcing food with all my mom's health dietary restrictions (from having a gastric sleeve) & her diagnosis dietary restrictions for 2 households. As well as me preparing most meals for both homes while I'm in and away from NC. In addition, replacing gluten with gluten-free alternatives in the diet. (A lot more coconut and almond based supplies). Cooking meals for a family of four that works and can be considered Keto-friendly and cancer friendly and while trying to stay under a budget of $300-$350 monthly.
Since we've implemented this plan to be her support system, all hell has broken loose in our lives. (My mom calls it just life lifing though).
On Martin Luther King weekend, began a school district wide issue in my Daughter's school system. Different staff began protesting and calling out of work (which we personally support their stances) due to significant pay discrepancies being communicated.
This immediately meant unreliable transportation for my daughter getting to & from school 25+ minutes away. My spouse teaches in a different school system 20 minutes in the opposite direction of my daughter's school, and we only have one car. Since she started middle school this year, their school school arrival times are the same. But her bus pick-up time solved the problem there. So there is now an ongoing possibility of him being late to work at his school daily.
On our first trip back down for treatment, it went perfect with the rental, until I realized after returning the rental car that I had lost my business cellphone inside of the rental car. (It hasn't been found by Budget's staff during cleaning and the car had already been rented out again less than 2 hours after being dropped off.) So I still have to pay to get that phone replaced.
This is compiled on top of this being my businesses' slow season and having no reserves to catch the $950 overhead in monthly expenses that comes from inventory space, business insurance, & hosting email domains, office assistant services & website. We only one future booking on the calendar and it's for a new build. January there was only $900 made. $300 had to go towards having to subrent out the job because it over lapped with chemo treatment and would cost twice as much to keep in-house with temp staff. $150 went towards repaying our transaction based capital funding loan from Shopify. $120 went towards getting 2 items of inventory for the second booking.
So I borrowed funds from something I couldn't afford to take from just to keep all of our inventory spaces secured.
My Chase credit card is over the limit by $140 and a payment is due today. My secure loan payment with Navy Federal is also due today and I don't have any of it. My business insurance payment of $200 is due tomorrow, and I don't have that either.
And the difference in the cost for our last car rental to come down for chemo week is still due back to the card I used for it. And I have to pay 200 for the car rental to go back up to NC Monday.
Then back in NC, this week on Tuesday, our only car's engine light came on. It was taken into our dealership on Wednesday morning to find out why. That diagnostic end up costing $250. We finally got answers Friday afternoon. Our car has 139k miles on it, and we're being told the engine needs to be replaced. It has been quoted $8k to have a used engine put into it or over $12k to have a new engine with a lifetime warranty put into our 2016 Chevrolet Cruze premier.
This car gets everyone to school and has been how my spouse has been supplementing his income working for the school system and parks & rec by doing Shipt. So now income has been reduced even more and expenses have drastically increased more.
MY business first official rental booking for this year took place yesterday, and that was supposed to be able to be delivered using our car. Since it's still in the shop, we had to book a last-minute $200 car rental for my spouse and daughter to fulfill the booking delivery yesterday and to be able to go back to do the rental booking pick-up today.
Emergency fund is pretty much exhausted after this week and the savings, too. Then today, with a little downtime, I learn that all my email payments were due on MLK weekend. This resulted in 5 email domains (3 important ones needed for tax filings) to be canceled by godaddy after 2 weeks of missing the payment notifications. I've had the email plan for almost 10 years, and it initially only cost me $14/month for all 5 emails. But because it was canceled and the package no longer exists, it cost me $29/month to have them reactivate and restore the 3 important emails or over $70/month to get them all reactivated. I only activated the 3 and paid it up until April for $59, so I don't miss its before filing taxes.
This week in Florida, my mom's cancer treatment visits started charging her a copay. Due to an error that recently took place on the backend by her health insurance. It's taking longer to resolve it with then despite them already seeing that it'san error in their coordination of benefits process. This week alone, we had to pay $325 in co-pays just to avoid the chemotherapy and white blood cell visits at the oncologist from being canceled by their office. The error is still causing a previous $200 outstanding balance to reflect on her account.
TODAY, it all became too much to hold in any longer. I have never had to face this many trials all at once while still having ongoing ones coming my way. My heart, mind & spirit is heavy right now. I need GOD to do something supernatural for my family in this season. In a way, only God can show up. I'm not broken. My faith isn't shaken. We're not going back on our commitment. Cancer won't defeat my family! We're breaking so many generational cycles right now. Cancer was just the catalyst to expedite the process.

Mastering European Travel: A Complete Planning Guide
Europe is a dream destination for many travelers, offering a rich blend of history, diverse cultures, stunning landscapes, and culinary delights. Whether you’re planning to explore the romantic streets of Paris, wander through the ancient ruins of Rome, or hike the rugged Scottish Highlands, there’s something for everyone on this continent. However, to make the most of your European adventure, planning is key. In this comprehensive guide, we'll walk you through everything you need to know to master European travel, from budgeting and transportation to must-visit destinations and cultural tips.
1. Choosing Your European Destinations
Europe is vast, with over 40 countries to explore, each offering a unique experience. Depending on the length of your trip and your interests, you may want to focus on specific regions or cities.
Popular Regions to Consider:
Western Europe: France, Germany, Spain, the UK, Belgium, and the Netherlands.
Southern Europe: Italy, Greece, Portugal, and Croatia.
Eastern Europe: Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic, and Romania.
Northern Europe: Scandinavia (Denmark, Sweden, Norway), and Finland.
Central Europe: Austria, Switzerland, and Slovakia.
Key Considerations for Choosing Destinations:
Your Interests: Do you love art, architecture, history, nature, or food? Different cities and regions specialize in different experiences. Paris is perfect for art lovers, while history buffs may prefer Athens or Rome.
Budget: Northern and Western Europe tend to be more expensive, while Eastern and Southern Europe can offer more budget-friendly options.
Travel Seasons: Consider the time of year. Summer is popular but crowded, while winter can offer cheaper rates and a more authentic local experience (though weather may be an issue in some regions).
2. Setting a Travel Budget
Travel in Europe can range from affordable to luxurious depending on your choices for accommodation, dining, and activities. Here’s a breakdown of what you should consider while budgeting:
Accommodation
Hostels: Ideal for solo travelers or those on a budget. Many hostels in Europe are clean, safe, and offer private rooms as well.
Airbnb & Vacation Rentals: A great option for couples or families wanting more space and kitchen facilities.
Hotels: Mid-range hotels offer comfort without breaking the bank, while luxury travelers can indulge in Europe’s many five-star hotels.
Budget Tip: Look into staying in less-touristy areas or smaller towns outside major cities, where accommodation tends to be cheaper.
Transportation
Flights: Europe is connected by an extensive network of budget airlines (like Ryanair, EasyJet), but be mindful of extra baggage fees and airport locations, which can be far from city centers.
Trains: The European rail system is world-class, especially for intercity and regional travel. Consider a Eurail pass if you plan to visit multiple countries by train.
Buses: Companies like FlixBus offer affordable and extensive bus routes throughout Europe, a great option for budget travelers.
Car Rentals: If you plan to explore rural areas or smaller towns, renting a car might be the best option. However, parking in cities can be expensive and difficult.
Dining & Food
Street Food & Markets: Many European cities have excellent street food and local markets where you can sample delicious, authentic dishes at a fraction of the cost of dining in restaurants.
Cafés & Casual Dining: Lunch specials or “prix fixe” menus often provide good value for money.
Fine Dining: If you’re a foodie, Europe boasts some of the world’s best Michelin-star restaurants, but these will increase your food budget.
Activities & Sightseeing
Free Attractions: Many European cities have free attractions, such as parks, historical landmarks, and even museums on certain days of the week.
City Passes: Consider purchasing city passes (e.g., Paris Pass, Rome Card) that provide free or discounted entry to top attractions, as well as free public transportation.
Tours: Guided tours can be a great way to learn about a destination, but opt for group tours if you’re looking to save money.
3. Planning Your Transportation Around Europe
Getting around Europe is relatively easy thanks to its well-developed infrastructure. Here’s a breakdown of the main options:
Flights
Budget Airlines: Low-cost carriers such as Ryanair, Wizz Air, and EasyJet make it easy to hop between major European cities. Keep an eye out for flash sales and be mindful of hidden fees, such as those for checked luggage.
Major Airlines: For longer flights or transatlantic travel, consider full-service airlines like British Airways, Lufthansa, or Air France, which often offer more comfortable experiences.
Trains
Europe’s train system is one of the best in the world, making it easy to travel between countries and cities. Countries like Switzerland, France, and Germany have high-speed trains, while others, like Italy and Spain, also offer scenic routes.
Eurail Pass: If you’re planning to visit multiple countries, consider purchasing a Eurail pass, which offers unlimited train travel within a set period (e.g., 7 days, 1 month). This can be a cost-effective way to explore Europe, especially if you're covering long distances.
Buses
FlixBus & Eurolines: For budget travelers, buses are an affordable way to get around. They’re slower than trains but can be a great option for night travel, saving you both time and the cost of accommodation for a night.
Car Rentals
If you plan to explore remote or rural areas, renting a car can offer flexibility. However, it’s important to familiarize yourself with the local driving rules and road signs in each country, as they can vary significantly.
Public Transportation
Most European cities have excellent public transport systems, including buses, trams, and metros. You can buy day passes or city cards that offer unlimited travel for a set period. In cities like Paris, London, and Berlin, public transport is often faster and more convenient than driving.
4. Travel Tips for a Smooth European Experience
Understanding Schengen Zone Rules
Most of Europe is part of the Schengen Zone, which allows for visa-free travel between member countries for up to 90 days within a 180-day period. If you're visiting non-Schengen countries (e.g., the UK, Ireland, Romania), you'll need to check specific entry requirements. Make sure your passport is valid for at least six months after your return date.
Learning Basic Phrases
While English is widely spoken in many European countries, especially in tourist areas, learning a few basic phrases in the local language (hello, please, thank you) can go a long way in enhancing your experience and showing respect for the local culture.
Currency & Payments
Currency: The Euro is used by 19 of the 27 EU member countries, while others like the UK, Switzerland, and Scandinavian countries have their own currencies.
ATMs & Cards: Credit and debit cards are widely accepted, but it’s always a good idea to carry some cash, especially in smaller towns or rural areas where card payments may not be accepted.
Packing Tips
Pack Light: Europe’s cobblestone streets, narrow alleyways, and public transport systems can make it difficult to manage heavy luggage. Stick to a carry-on if possible.
Adapters: Europe uses different electrical outlets than the US or UK, so make sure to pack a universal adapter.
Safety & Travel Insurance
Europe is generally a very safe destination for travelers. However, it’s always a good idea to stay aware of your surroundings, especially in crowded areas where pickpocketing can be common.
Travel Insurance: Make sure to get travel insurance that covers medical emergencies, trip cancellations, and lost luggage.
5. Must-See European Cities and Experiences
While every traveler’s preferences will differ, here are some can’t-miss cities and experiences:
Paris, France
Highlights: The Eiffel Tower, Louvre Museum, Notre-Dame Cathedral, and charming neighborhoods like Montmartre.
Tip: Visit in the early morning or late evening to avoid crowds at popular sites like the Eiffel Tower.
Rome, Italy
Highlights: The Colosseum, Vatican City, Roman Forum, and the delicious Italian cuisine.
Tip: Book your Vatican tickets in advance to skip the long lines.
Prague, Czech Republic
Highlights: The Charles Bridge, Prague Castle, Old Town Square, and the famous Astronomical Clock.
Tip: Visit during the shoulder season (spring or fall) to enjoy fewer crowds and milder weather.
Barcelona, Spain
Highlights: The architectural wonders of Antoni GaudĂ, including the Sagrada FamĂlia and Park GĂĽell, and the lively Las Ramblas.
Tip: Try to catch a local flamenco performance for a taste of Spanish culture.
Amsterdam, Netherlands
Highlights: The Anne Frank House, Van Gogh Museum, and a boat ride through the iconic canals.
Tip: Rent a bike to explore the city like a local.
Edinburgh, Scotland
Highlights: Edinburgh Castle, Arthur's Seat, and the historic Royal Mile.
Tip: Visit during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August for a world-class arts festival.
Conclusion
Mastering European travel requires a mix of careful planning and the willingness to embrace spontaneous adventures. By setting a clear budget, choosing the right transportation, and familiarizing yourself with the regions and cultures of Europe, you’ll be well on your way to a memorable and stress-free journey. Europe’s rich history, vibrant cities, and breathtaking landscapes offer endless opportunities for exploration.

Why Choose a 20 Seater Bus Rental in Ahmedabad for Your Next Amazing Outing?
Why Choose a 20 Seater Bus Rental in Ahmedabad for Your Next Amazing Outing?
20 Seater Bus Rental in Ahmedabad
Are you planning a group outing in Ahmedabad? Whether it’s a fun family trip, a corporate event, a school excursion, or just a day out with friends, finding the right transportation is crucial. You want something comfortable, affordable, and big enough to fit everyone. This is where renting a 20 seater bus in Ahmedabad can make all the difference.
In this blog, we’ll explain why choosing a 20 seater bus rental from TransRentals is a smart decision for your next adventure. Let’s dive into why bus renting is the perfect solution for your group travel needs.
Perfect for Group Travel
When you’re traveling with a group of 15 to 20 people, renting a 20 seater bus in Ahmedabad from TransRentals is an ideal option. It saves you from the hassle of managing multiple cars or taxis. There is no need to split up, coordinate between different vehicles, or worry about everyone arriving on time. With a 20 seater bus hire in Ahmedabad, your entire group can travel together, making the journey more fun and organized. It’s perfect for family get-togethers, corporate team outings, or school trips.
Comfort and Convenience
Traveling long distances or even within the city can be tiring, especially when uncomfortable. Thankfully, a 20 seater bus from TransRentals is designed with comfort in mind. Spacious seating ensures everyone has enough legroom, and most buses come equipped with air conditioning so you can relax and enjoy the ride, even during Ahmedabad’s hot weather.
Whether planning to visit Sabarmati Ashram, Kankaria Lake, or even head out of the city to places like Mount Abu or the Rann of Kutch, a 20 seater bus hire in Ahmedabad ensures a smooth and comfortable journey.
Affordable and Budget-Friendly
One of the biggest advantages of choosing a 20 seater bus hire in Ahmedabad is the cost savings. Compared to booking multiple cars or taxis, renting a single bus for the entire group is far more economical. Plus, the overall cost can be split among the group members, making it even more affordable.
At TransRentals, we understand the importance of budget-friendly travel. By choosing a 20 seater bus rental in Ahmedabad, you will not only save money on fuel and tolls but also avoid the stress of managing multiple vehicles.
Ideal for Various Events and Occasions
A 20 seater bus rental is perfect for a wide range of events. No matter what occasion you plan for, having a spacious bus ensures everyone arrives together and on time. Here are a few events where a 20 seater bus in Ahmedabad from TransRentals is the best option:
Family Outings: Planning a family trip to Science City or a picnic at Adalaj Stepwell? A 20 seater bus is ideal for accommodating your family comfortably without splitting up into different cars.
Corporate Events: Organizing an office team-building event? A 20 seater bus hire ensures everyone arrives at the destination together, making logistics easy and convenient.
School or College Trips: Renting a 20 seater bus is a safe, reliable, and fun way to travel as a group on educational tours or trips.
Wedding Transportation: Weddings can involve a lot of guests traveling between venues. A bus hire in Ahmedabad makes it easy to transport your guests, ensuring they travel in comfort and style.
Stress-Free Travel with Professional Drivers
Driving in Ahmedabad can be tricky, especially when managing a large group. But when you rent a 20 seater bus from TransRentals, you also get the benefit of a professional driver who is familiar with the city’s roads. You won’t need to worry about navigating through traffic or finding parking spaces. Just sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride while the driver takes care of everything.
This makes your trip stress-free, allowing you to focus on spending quality time with your group instead of dealing with driving.
Eco-Friendly Option for Group Travel
Did you know renting a 20 seater bus in Ahmedabad is also environmentally friendly? Choosing a single bus instead of multiple cars reduces the number of vehicles on the road, which means fewer emissions and a smaller carbon footprint. It’s a great way to travel responsibly, especially if you care about the environment.
At TransRentals, we take pride in offering transportation options that are not only convenient but also eco-conscious.
Flexible and Customizable Plans
One of the great things about hiring a 20 seater bus from TransRentals is the flexibility. Every trip differs, so we offer customizable packages to fit your needs. Whether you need a bus for just a few hours or an entire weekend, we can provide a solution that works for you.
You can also plan your route and destinations based on your itinerary. Heading to Udaipur for a weekend getaway? Or a one-day trip to Lothal? No problem! A 20 seater bus rental in Ahmedabad can be tailored to your schedule.
Comfortable for Long-Distance Travel

super early draft, but i'm spending nano wordcount working on the accidental vigilante story. it's really neat to revisit something in a new way. this reads a bit like it could belong in the sweeter, softer cute-guy AU, but it won't stay that way for long. this content is probably going to be what part of the first chapter once i get enough of the series offering done & edited to start posting, but i want to share early even if this part isn't terribly exciting. Writing is writing and it's been way way way too long.
Fun fact, most of this was written with voice recognition, so if you notice some weird punctuation or typos, no you did not. I'll be sweeping for bugs before sharing on AO3. Thank you for reading!!
He turned down his mother's help to help find his new apartment. He'd already done so many things on his own (from the relative safety of his childhood home) that surely this low-stakes task is something he can accomplish given enough time and resources.
Maybe if he'd been pressed for faster turnaround, kicked out and wandering the streets with nowhere else to go, he might've been willing to accept an adult’s help navigating the strange world of leases and rentals and potentially shady (or dangerous) deals.
But no, he does some poking around online, asks his friends what they would do, and then does his best on his own. He tries a few places in person and is immediately turned away at the door.Â
He should have figured. It’s not exactly safe to walk up to an unfamiliar building and ask to see available units.Â
There’s been too much crime in the last few years for people to be very trusting of strangers.Â
After that, he tries calling places before showing up. He gets similar results. No one is willing to meet with an unknown variable with a suspiciously nervous youthful voice and promises of enough cash to cover the first three months of rent.
He starts to get a little frustrated, but he runs his fingers through his hair and takes a deep breath as he leans against the glass wall at the local bus stop. He shouldn’t expect to find much in only one day of apartment searching.
He needs a mediator. A contractor. Someone who knows these people and can get him an in, or can at least take down his information and find a few willing parties to hear him out without assuming he’s going to rob them blind.
A local realtor’s office doesn’t seem very impressed by his youth, and even less impressed when he hands over one of his faked IDs. Foreigner, but at least it lists a quirk. He doesn’t want to think about what kinds of dismissal he’d see if he dared trying to apply for an apartment as a quirkless citizen.Â
Their interest perks a little at his available budget, but he gets a firm denial within thirty minutes.Â
Nothing available in the surrounding areas.Â
He wilts a little.Â
It’s fine.Â
Probably.Â
He can keep looking for something.
The realtor’s office isn’t completely cruel, though, and promises to put him on a waiting list.Â
He jots down his phone number in the middle of a dusty page in an aging binder, feeling very little hope they’ll call him back.
He picks up a little pint of strawberry ice cream on his way home that afternoon, a little bummed that he’s had no luck.Â
It’s not worth getting upset over one fruitless day of searching.Â
He still has plenty of time to figure something out.Â
The warm scents of home-cooked food greet him as he pushes open the front door. He only has one key on his keychain, so there’s nothing to jingle as he pockets it and kneels to remove his shoes with a little sigh. The door clicks quietly as he locks it, and his mother is waiting for him with a soft expression when he turns around.Â
Sometimes it surprises him that she knows when he gets home even if he hasn't yet said a word.Â
“Welcome home,” she murmurs, her keen gaze catching sight of his half-smile. “No luck, today?”
He shrugs and holds out the pint of ice cream.
Dinner is quiet, but by the time dessert rolls around he’s feeling a lot better. She refuses to let him help with the dishes, instead shooing him toward the living room to pick out a movie they can watch together.Â
He selects a goofy pre-quirk spy flick and pauses it on the opening title, then opens his laptop to poke around on the forums until his mom joins him.Â
His inbox has over a dozen unread messages.Â
“Weird,” he mutters, clicking into them with cautious curiosity. The subject lines are usually the first indication of spam mail, but these are all well-written, and he quickly discovers they're advertisements for apartment offerings from all over the city.
Not spam.
But he doesn’t remember giving his email to the realtor’s office. He chews his lip as he thinks back through his day. When could he have-?
He absently skims the first message.
Amenities: Rooftop pool. State-of-the-art heroNet connection speeds. Â
Izuku scoffs. Being out in the open, exposed to the elements and also anyone who might be flying/jumping/sneaking about overhead? Maybe before quirks that would have been nice, but not anymore. The heroNet connection claim sounds pretty good, but he doesn’t need speed as much as reliability, and his wireless setup can keep him running from nearly anywhere in the city.Â
Amenities: One block away from the city library. Gorgeous floor-to-ceiling picture windows. Park within easy walking distance.
He pauses and purses his lips. The library is a little tempting, but he really has all the information he needs at his fingertips. And he likes looking out of big windows, but he doesn’t feel very safe around them. Curtains would be a necessity. Park close by is both a blessing and a curse, probably beautiful and very dangerous, unless that’s a more expensive part of the city that still retains some hero presence. (In which case, he probably can’t afford that apartment, anyways.)Â
Amenities: Well-aged closed-circuit security system. Cafe on first floor, residents only.
Izuku’s finger hovers over the touch pad. This one sounds promising. Closed-circuit systems are notoriously difficult to get into without being on-site. And he likes cafes, especially ones that sound like he won’t have to worry about being surrounded by a lot of strangers.Â
His mom joins him on the couch with a blanket and two cups of tea.Â
He shuts his laptop with a bright grin, already feeling the hope welling up within him.Â
The advertisements can wait until morning.Â
With the clarity of morning and even more apartment offerings in his inbox, he starts thinking back to the day before. He’s certain he hadn’t written his email address on anything. He stares at the messages, tapping between them, searching the metadata for clues or patterns as his mind whirs through possibilities. Maybe his phone number is linked with his email address in some obscure database?Â
He absently starts a search on his phone number in a background window to see how many hits he can generate before he returns to the advertisements. No other identifying information can be found within the messages, so he doesn't think it's been somehow linked with his name. All the messages come from different addresses, different systems, different networks. There doesn't seem to be a common thread between any of the sources.Â
It's as if he's been added to some kind of housing mailing list.
The background window flickers to indicate the search has completed.Â
No hits.
He breathes a little sigh of relief. That's one less thing to worry about. But still…Â
Had he really handed out his email address and forgotten about it?
He absently taps his finger against a key.
He hates to think he's forgotten something that important, but he also hates to think that someone took one look at his face as he walked into the realtor's office and immediately knew how to reach him.Â
(That seems nearly impossible, but quirks are capable of some nearly impossible stuff.)
there's more coming pretty soon as scenes sneak out of my notes and outline. <3 ily
