a LOT more of the early scenes get. a lot lot worse when you find out that aaron definitely remembers their childhood. i talked about the scene when aaron first sees his bracelet on luke's wrist already but there's a LOT more scenes that are a LOT worse in hindsight....during the infiltration into accardo enterprises, if you play as luke you can choose to "protect" aaron from one of the security bots/lazers by diving in front of him. iirc aaron gets surprised/upset if you do that as luke and says smth along the lines of "don't be an idiot and go in front of me like that" which is a pretty "standard" line but like. during their flashback it's shown that luke was the one crawling in front of him when they were trying to escape the smoke and luke passes out/gets knocked unconscious partially because of it.........yeah i think theres a reason that aaron might not want you to go in front of him dawg

OPM isn't Murata's only seemingly vaguely BL-inspired work - If you like detective games with a strong cast and intriguing connections between the cast, have you considered checking out the 2021 game "Buddy Mission Bond," produced by Koei Techmo/Ruby Party and published on the Nintendo Switch?

The storyline follows 4 "main characters" who each have their connections to an ongoing conspiracy, wherein a mysterious mark appears on the necks of those who seemingly go insane out of nowhere. These characters (Luke Williams, Aaron, Mokuma Endou, and Chesley Nichols) are all unique in their designs and personalities and have really interesting backstories that tie together super well.

One of the strongest points of the game is also its narrative regarding mixed racial identity - Much of the game's plot revolves around an island wherein a "traditional" culture is at odds with the more modernized tourism industry of the island, and one of the characters (Sui Accardo) grapples with what it means to be mixed and how her identity as a mixed-race person connects her to her family. The careful handling of her racial identity is a level of attention that I don't normally see from games which feature (implied) a mixed White-Asian person, as many games tend to just make them Japanese in all but appearance and brush over the difficulty that mixed people can feel with a few offhand comments.

Anyways, back to the BL. You can see Murata's influence (lmfao) in BMB artworks as well, which I would tout as another super strong point of the game. There is a frankly astounding amount of original artwork for this game, illustrated by Murata, and you can see how his influences (cited above) have left their impact on how he draws the characters.

Please check this game out!!!! It's currently only available in Chinese, Japanese, and Korean, but if you speak one of those languages - IT'S VERY WORTH PLAYING!!!!!

So I was prepared when I got to this and saved before choosing so I could read all of them. I’d initially saved “me?” for last, but then I went back and ultimately went with “my heart?” even though it garners objectively the worst reaction, because, like, I had to. I know these choices have no bearing on the story, but I needed to.

And funnily enough, if you make the wrong choice during the investigation and go into the cell the inspector’s locked up in, Luke ends up punching him and afterward he makes a comment to Aaron about them being the same now… and Aaron makes the exact same face at him lmao

Luke: “And— You punched the inspector earlier, too, didn’t you.” Luke: “So now we’re the same!” Aaron: “…Anh?” Luke: (Why is he looking at me like I’m a piece of refuse…)

(I accidentally chose this room because I have a habit of not reading the descriptions… I knew the previous guy had been in a solitary cell, and there are 2, so I was like, “How do you know which one, though? Oh well, I’ll just investigate both.” …You know because it tells you before you choose it.)

You know how there’s no one gayer in the world than military guys with their active service buddies? I’ve been thinking about how fucking hilarious it would be for Obi-Wan and Anakin to be like that during the Clone Wars. You have these two guys who can feel the other’s soul and very being,living in each other’s back pockets,depending on one every day,constantly striving to keep the other alive,and that’s already the closest bond you can have with someone. They are brothers in arms and are literally called the Open Circle fleet because they are in canon referred to as two halves of the same whole.

But then add in all the military isms from the clones. All the ass slapping and cat calling and that particular brand of flirting soldiers do with one another. All the leering talk of sucking each other off and being a good bunk mate and calling each other pretty. Plus the combat showers and close quarters only further eroding personal space and shyness.

The team comes back to the temple or is on some diplomatic mission between it all and they’re just up in each other’s faces and making kiss sounds towards each other and play slapping asses. When one pins the other down while practice dueling they just give the most slobbering lick up the side of the other’s face. Obi-Wan calls Anakin sugar tits and Anakin sticks his tongue in his cheek when he says master.

Every civilian around them is just like O.o and can’t for the life of them tell if they’re joking or not. The joke is neither Obi-Wan or Anakin can differentiate between normality and it going too far because they’re so weird about each other. They start calling each other babe and giving air kisses goodbye and saying love you bye on holo calls and it’s funny haha jokey until one of them gets hurt and then it’s I love you I love you between frantic,real kisses on the battlefield while the troopers nearest to them who HAVE been joking the whole time watch like O.O
