This was the best water gun that I seen throughout all of Songkran. A robotic arm attached to a car! _______________________________ I live for food, travel, coffee and culture. Do you? A quick entry on Theravada New Year. Theravada is the older, though less widespread, of the two main forms of Buddhism. Theravada New Year is today, Mahayana New Year was one of the first of 2017, back in January.
Many Buddhists of the Theravada tradition will celebrate the New Year with symbolic elements often found at the beach: sand and water. Commonly, laity bathe Buddha images and sprinkle water on monks and elders, while Buddhists in Thailand, Laos and Cambodia add to the ritual by building sand mounds at monasteries or on river banks. In Buddhist tradition, each grain of sand is representative of a wrongdoing (or, in Buddhist terms, a bad “mark” on one’s karma), and when the sand is washed away by the river or by other means, that bad deed is “washed away.” From http://www.readthespirit.com/religious-holidays-festivals/buddhist-theravada-new-year-with-sand-and-water/
Spiritual sand sculptures sound super.
Happy New Year

Last temple I promise, she says. Visited the famous Doi Suthep temple, just outside Chiang Mai situated on top of a mountain and also visited the neighbouring village. One of the most famous temples and one of the busiest the day we visited due to the Buddhist New Year celebrations #gold #doisuthep #buddhistnewyear #mountain #celebrations #religion #travel #experience (at Doi Suthep Temple)

Finally a new year, a new start! 2563 should be better than last year. I mean, after all, I actually have a job this time around.

We were lucky enough that our visit to Chiang Mai coincided with the combined celebrations of Chinese New Year and Buddhist New Year. Got to soak up so much culture and see so many amazing sites #chinesenewyear #buddhistnewyear #chiangmai #celebrations #temple #market #experience #travel (at Chiang Mai, Thailand)
