Fic summary:

If you could go back and change the choices in your life, would you? Would you love the same people, go on the same vacations, have the same career? Or would you have regrets?

After the lightning strike, an unexpected visitor makes Buck question all the choices he’s ever made. From dropping out of the Seals to never making a move on Eddie because the time hasn’t been right. He’s going to get an up close and personal look at what could have been because another version of Buck is focused on taking his choices away from him—including Eddie and Christopher Diaz

“You told me once to not go chasing waterfalls and I didn’t know what you meant at all. And i did.  I chased the damn waterfalls big time and I’m in trouble and I think I need your help.  That you’re the only one who can help.”

Athena stands for a second in her doorway, frozen and starring at Buck as if he’s a ghost.  Buck licks his lips, preparing to try again and then her fingers are on his jacket and yank him in close before her arms wrap around him and he’s tucked up into her neck and Buck realizes that she’s shaking.  

“Oh baby, for a minute I thought I lost you,” Athena sobs and Buck hugs her back, trying to soothe the woman who’s been more of a mother to him than anyone as an adult.  

“‘Thena,” he manages and then she grabs him by the face, hands framing his cheeks as she stares at his features, thumb pressing against his birthmark. Athena Grant isn’t a woman Buck thinks of as a crier, but she is while being her usual fierce self. 

“Baby, what do you mean you went chasing waterfalls?”
