Bucky Barnes masterlist
A/N: I really hope you’ll enjoy it! This was inspired by the "She chose me." TikTok trend.

You’re all quiet, watching the back and forth between Cap and Bucky. Not even Sam intervenes.
“You didn’t-”
“This is just not gonna work, Buck.”
Bucky rolls his eyes, with an expression you like to describe as bitchy. He’s so sassy without even intending to, and you wonder how bitchier he’d be if this wasn’t his best friend talking.
“Let’s see if people agree.”
He looks around waving at you and the rest of the team while Sam just snorts, covering his mouth with his hand.
But you’re not amused because you have no idea how to handle this diplomatically.
“Whose side are you on?” Steve’s tone is deep and authoritative, making you feel a little uneasy.
You don’t know how to talk to Avengers sometimes. You are on friendly terms, even when you train. Sam always cracks jokes, Steve shares stories and gives advice, and Bucky is Bucky. Nat and Sam call him The Machine for a reason. But he’s a really good professor and an even better observer. He pays attention to every recruit and remembers what they need to work on. You find him extra intimidating because he’s also the most beautiful man you’ve ever seen. No exaggeration. And it’s not in the usual clean and golden boy way you are used to, anyway. He’s been through shit and it’s showing in the way he carries himself and doesn’t talk much when it’s not needed.
But you pay attention too, and this is why you think you were chosen to lead the recruits for this mission. You are on good terms with the Avengers, and Bucky probably approved the idea of working with you because you didn’t piss him off like most do. You know he hates chit chat, you learned how to read most of his stares and to not take it personally when he makes remarks about your fighting skills. They’re not your strongest asset, but you have a flair and you come up with the best solutions under pressure. You managed to pin him down once for a few seconds, and that is probably your greatest achievement.
But in moments like this, you don’t know how to say things without upsetting one side.
“You won’t get in trouble, don’t worry,” Bucky adds confidently. You’re not surprised when four out of your six colleagues agree with Bucky. They explain quickly why, emphasizing how much faster and efficient it would be if you followed that route, but their voices are still trembling. And you get it. Telling Captain America to his face you prefer his best friend’s plan over his will always be a risk. But if he gets mad, that says more about him as a leader than about anyone else.
Sam raises his hands in the air defensively, probably enjoying this as a show, but based on the looks he shares with Bucky, it seems like he agrees with him too.
You try to find your words, knowing you’re the last one from your team to speak, but before you can even open your mouth, Steve already smiles, pointing at you with his index finger. “Look at this, though! She agrees with me… She chose me.”
His grin is cold and a little arrogant. What you don’t notice, though, is the intention Steve had when he decided to use those exact words, but Bucky does. And he clenches his jaw at the same time his vibranium hand curls into a fist; a silent response to the not-so-innocent assumption that Steve made.
After a few seconds, Bucky leans in, his gaze steady and confident. “Did she?”
There is no way you would pick Steve’s plan. You are too smart and you have too much integrity to pick his side just to kiss his ass. He raises an eyebrow at you this time, a confident smirk forming on his lips. “Did you really choose him? You really think his plan would work better, doll?”
You feel surrounded by Bucky… attacked even. Your cheeks are getting hotter, too, and you know there is nothing you can do to hide your redness. Doll… He called you that when he turned you again on your back the day you managed to pin him down. It’s something about the way he says it that makes it absolutely deadly. Your first instinct was to be offended, but you reminded yourself he is a man born in 1917. He lived his twenties in the 40s, and doll was used as slang for sweetheart.
Taking a deep breath, you tilt your head slightly, directing your response to Steve. “It’s not about choosing sides, but considering all perspectives for the best outcome. And your plan, Captain, has its strengths, but I’m inclined to agree with Sergeant Bucky.” You bite your lip. “It’s about finding the most effective strategy for the mission, not a personal preference of any kind.”
Steve’s smile falls off, but your attention shifts back to Bucky’s grin that lightens up his face.
Fuck, fuck, fuck.
“Well, then,” Steve sighs. “Can I have a word with you in private?”
You don’t realize he’s speaking to you until he says your name.
Surprised, you jump. “Yes, of course.”
*
Steve leans back in his chair, a slight smile playing on his lips as you write down the last details. “You know, I value your insights on the mission.”
You look surprised because how can he value your opinion when this is your second mission only? He’s Captain America!
“Oh?”
“I trust your judgment, and your training is going great. If you and the team chose Bucky’s plan, then we do it.” You see his jaw clench, though, so you know it’s not easy for him to say it. Even if it’s his friend… interesting. “Maybe, when all is over, we could grab a cup of coffee and talk about other things. What do you think?”
You’re silent for a couple of seconds, trying to realize if he means it in the way you think he is. There is no way, right?
Just in case, you offer him a friendly smile, “Thanks, Cap! I value our teamwork too. Coffee sounds great after. It could be a good way for all of us to unwind as a team.”
He nods, sighing. “I’m glad you’re on board. I’m looking forward to that coffee, even if it’s with the whole team. And please, call me Steve.”
So he was flirting…
“Thank you,” you pause as you stand up. “I’m gonna talk with Sergeant Barnes so we can get things ready for tomorrow. Have a good night, Steve!”
*
You knock only three times before the door opens and a Bucky dressed in shorts and a white tank top lets you in with a smirk.
“Sergeant Barnes,” you nod as you take a step inside his bedroom. He only stays here before and after missions when he is too tired to go to his apartment, so you don’t expect to see any personal objects there except for a few clothes.
“What happened to Bucky?”
You look at him surprised, tightening your hold on the tablet you are holding.
What?
“Sir?”
Bucky closes his eyes for a second. “Earlier, during the meeting, you called me Sergeant Bucky.”
Shit!
Maybe you should start calling him Sergeant Barnes in your head as well to avoid these fucks up. You feel so embarrassed that you want to disappear. You don’t want him to think you disrespect him in any way. His rank carries a lot of weight and trauma.
You clear your throat, slightly flustered. “My apologies, Sergeant Barnes. It won’t happen again, sir.” You offer him an apologetic smile while trying very hard to maintain a professional tone.
Bucky’s smirk softens as he places his flesh hand on your shoulder. You feel your legs transforming into jelly.
“My point was, doll, there is no need to be so formal. We’re off-duty here, and titles aren’t necessary. Just call me Bucky.”
“Alright, Bucky,” you smile. “I’m sorry for bothering you, but I came to discuss the plan for tomorrow. I talked to Steve and we agreed it would be wise for you to lead the way as Mr. Wilson-”
“Steve?” Bucky interrupts before you can finish your sentence. He doesn’t even bother to look at your tablet, either.
“Yes, we talked in the office.”
“No, I get that. But you call him Steve? What happened to Cap?” Bucky knows that might sound really childish, but he can’t help it. What is Steve trying to do?
Was it some kind of test? Did you misunderstand everything with Steve?
“Oh, Cap allowed me to call him Steve earlier. I am sorry if it sounded disrespectful.”
He squeezes your shoulder even before moving his hand to your chin, raising your face, and you feel yourself blushing again.
The blue of his eyes is so intense that you can’t see how anyone would be able to survive it.
“You apologize too much, doll. I don’t like it.”
You can’t breathe. “Sor-” You pause, realizing he is right. Apologizing is second nature to you. It feels wrong when you don’t, and you do it without even thinking about it. “I guess I do that a lot. I’ll work on it, Bucky.”
“I’m not your teacher right now, doll.” He smiles, letting go of your chin. “Just remember, we’re not all about formalities here. Relax a bit.”
Easier said than done. But you need to keep it together and ignore the urge to grab his face and finally kiss him. So you focus on talking about the mission and the members of the team. You talk about all of your colleagues, and Bucky helps you take notes. He switched so easily from friendly to the sergeant mode, which is fascinating.
He explains step by step your positions, the way things are gonna happen and even two back up plans. Two!
You’re not overwhelmed by the amount of information, but you’re quite surprised by how much he talks and how well he answers every possible question any of you could have. You don’t think you’ve ever heard him speak for more than a few seconds continuously so you try to focus on every word.
Only when he finishes and you close your tablet after sending everyone the plan, do you see him relaxing again.
With a smirk, he asks you, “How did Steve take it?”
“He was fine with the plan, even suggested if we feel like doing it, to get one or two more members. But based on what you said, we won’t need it.”
“He has a point, of course, but if you said you don’t think you need it, good.” You try not to stare at his lips as he speaks, but it’s so hard. “And I meant how he took that you chose my plan. That you chose me.”
You meet Bucky’s gaze, trying to keep your composure, “Steve seemed more than okay with it from what I saw. He values the team’s decision. Plus, it’s not about choosing sides, and-”
“And not a personal preference of any kind,” he interrupts just to quote you, and you don’t know if you should feel flattered he remembers word by word or to prepare yourself for a negative reaction. To be honest, your head is spinning and him being so close makes it worse. “I heard you very well, but I’m curious…”
He extends his hand and carefully tucks your hair behind your ears. You swear you can hear your own heartbeat going crazy. And if you do, so does he.
“About what?”
“Would the answer be different if it was about personal preferences, doll? Would you choose him?”
You freeze. You are simply in shock because this cannot happen to you. From Steve asking you out earlier to your crush basically doing this. You’re confused and a little tired, but you didn’t imagine all of this. Does Bucky want you? Is that it?
You take a deep breath praying you won’t choke on the words. “In a hypothetical scenario based on personal preferences, Bucky, I would still not pick him.”
Your voice is trembling, but you maintain eye contact even after admitting it. You didn’t choose Bucky’s plan because of your crush, so you shouldn’t feel embarrassed or exposed. He’s the one who let you call him Bucky, who touched you and asked you that. You don’t know if he counts romance as a personal preference, but there is an urge inside you to find out. You wonder how he’d taste, if he’d kiss you back if you kissed him first, how your mission would be if you crossed the line. Your thoughts are foggy.
“So you’d choose me.”
You clear your throat. “Yes.”
“Over Captain America.” His grin is so boyish and cute that it makes you smile. He looks younger and less… burdened when he gets like this. Bucky chuckles, a mischievous glint in his eyes, “Well, well, well. Looks like I got someone not kissing Captain America’s ass for a change. That’s really rare. You’re a naughty one, aren’t you?”
You mask your gasp with a cough, deciding to play along, a sly grin forming on your face. “Maybe I just have a thing for underdogs.”
Bucky’s eyes light up with amusement to your annoyance but also excitement, and he leans in, taking the tablet from your hand and placing it on the floor without a care. “Underdogs, huh? Ouch, that hurt a little. I thought I was your favorite super-soldier.”
You can’t help but giggle, feeling enough encouragement from his reaction to touch his vibranium arm just to feel it. You got the chance to do it only for a couple of seconds and it always fascinated you, especially the golden pattern. The fact he can feel everything because it’s connected to his nerves is insane to you. It probably is to him too. “Oh, you are. And my favorite teacher too. But a little competition never hurts, Sergeant Barnes.”
You can see he feigns offense. “Competition, huh?” Bucky’s playfulness turns into a serious tone as he adds, “Well, let me show you why I’m the only choice.”
And without warning, he closes the distance between you and kisses you.
You gasp, taken aback, but you bring your hands to his face and hip before you deepen the kiss. He’s not as gentle as you expected, his left arm flying to your ass and bringing your hips closer to his immediately.
You moan when you feel his hard on so close to your pussy, and tug on his hair a little.
“Aren’t you a naughty girl?” He lowers his lips to your jaw. “I could basically smell how wet you got earlier as soon as I called you doll. And so did Steve.”
You want to open your eyes and tell him to stop talking about his friend. You don’t want to be turned off, but he already continues.
“He thought he stood a chance with my girl.”
“Your girl?” You whimper when his teeth graze your neck before his tongue licks on the spot. He intends to leave a mark, you have no doubt, and you absolutely love it.
“Mine.” His whisper makes you shiver. “I want to mark you. The thought of having you covered in hickeys during the mission makes me so hard it almost hurts. Gonna show everyone you belong to me.”
“Do I belong to you, Sergeant Barnes?” You take a step back but let your hand linger on his chest teasingly. “Because I don’t remember you asking me to dinner.”
Bucky grins. “Dinner is a classic move, and I adapted very well to the present. But of course I can stop with the kisses right now, and we can have some late dinner.”
You roll your eyes at his unbelievably good answer. Fucker!
“This is not what I meant, Barnes, and you know it.”
“I don’t know it. But I want to know something else.”
You don’t even doubt he means something dirty because it’s too obvious.
“Like what?”
“Like how your pretty pussy tastes while you come all over my face.”
You gasp at the no-filter words. You’re so used to Steve’s warning you to use proper language, that you did not expect it.
“I thought men your age were all about being proper and refined… Don’t they teach subtlety in the 40s etiquette class or did you skip it?”
You tease him on purpose, and he knows it. You are well aware what a nerd he was in school. Such a nerd that it was displayed in the museum. You snort. You were a nerd too, so you love it.
Bucky chuckles, a mischievous gleam in his eyes as he brings his hands to your pants, unzipping them without warning. Holy. Shit. The way you love this. He reads your body language very well and he has his super soldier senses.
“Well, doll, proper and refined went out the window with the 40s, right? Because otherwise you’d not be standing here letting me undress you.”
You raise your eyebrow, a mix of surprise and amusement on your face. His energy is so light, and he looks like a man without a worry in moments like this.
“You’re the one who offered to show me what the little upgraded version of you can do, after all.” You take off your shoes before pulling down your pants as soon as he drags them to your ankles. You can’t believe you’re about to fuck James Bucky Barnes! “Why would I say no?”
“Just sit back and enjoy the ride, doll. Gonna make sure you have the time of your life.”
You snort, amused by his eagerness, and decide to take off your shirt yourself to see his reaction. And he doesn’t disappoint.
He grins like a child, his hands flying straight to your back without taking his eyes off your chest. And before you know it, your bra is on the floor and Bucky cups your breasts, bringing your left tit to his mouth.
If you gasped when you felt the cold touch of the vibranium, now you moan loudly, enjoying the way he licks around your skin. He avoids your nipple on purpose, so you decide to take matters into your own hands quite literally and get a grab of the top of his hair, forcing him to suck on your nipple.
“Fuck! I didn’t expect you to be so whorish,” you say without realizing, and you feel his snort and breath on the wet patch he left with his tongue.
Bucky’s grin turns into a sly smirk. “This is what you call whorish? I guess I’ll give you an experience you won’t ever forget.”
“Talk less, do more.”
You want to enjoy more of this. You have a mission in a few hours, and it might be just a one time thing anyway since he is Bucky Barnes. You don’t want to get your hopes high.
Bucky lets go of your breast with a pop and moves up, raising your head so he can kiss you.
It’s electrifying, and desperate, and not enough. You move your hands to the bottom hem of his tank top and lift it, interrupting the kiss so you can take it off completely. You just want to feel him, all of him.
You step back for a second, wanting to look at him properly, but you notice a change in his eyes that he, of course, tries to mask.
“Why are you nervous? You look like a fucking god! I should be nervous here.”
Bucky’s eyes flicker with vulnerability.
“I guess I’m not used to someone seeing my scars or my,” he waves toward his vibranium arm, and you frown.
“I will sound totally weird, but they all make you really cool, Serge.” You trace down a few scars when you see he is completely relaxed and continue. “Do I have to lick them all to make you believe me?”
You move your hands under his shorts before he can answer, though, finally touching his cock. You both moan at the feeling. He’s hard and thick, and the head is wet. You bring your fingers to his lips, smearing some of the precome before leaning in to suck it off.
You’re not prepared for his moan or for the way he attacks your mouth, and definitely not for him to snap your underwear using his flesh hand. Not even his vibranium one!
You moan into his mouth. He makes you feel like you’re floating and you need to fuck him right then.
“You’re not just whorish, you’re a whore!” You pause when you feel his fingers close to your entrance. “No wonder why you didn’t belong in the 40s.” Then you move, allowing him to touch you. You don’t realize what you said, and when you do, in the middle of dragging his shorts down, you curse yourself in your mind. It sounds like the most disrespectful thing ever. This man’s fate was changed by monsters who cryogenically freezing him and brainwashing him, and you are selfishly talking as if he belonged to you. “I’m sorry that was awful of-” But he interrupts you before you can get a chance to properly apologize.
“You like that, don’t you?”
A wave of shame surges through your body. Your cheeks are burning.
“I’m really sorry,” you take your hands off his shorts and look away, not even peaking at his cock. You ruined it, didn’t you? “I will just go.”
Bucky shakes his head, puffing. “For such an amazing agent, you’re not a good room reader, are you?”
Your eyes finally drop to his cock, which you’ve been trying to avoid in the last minute out of shame, but there’s no need anymore since he’s teasing you. He’s just a bit longer than average, and he’s really thick, and the veins do not make it ugly at all. You are curious how it’d feel in your hand, how much it’d twitch, how Bucky would moan.
“You aren’t a good room reader, either then, Barnes, since I’m not getting dicked down and my hair pulled, am I?”
Something snaps in him, and it’s visible in his eyes. You don’t know what to expect so you just watch him. But you can’t. He is so quick that, despite your crazy training, you don’t anticipate his move. His hand wraps around the hair from your nape and fists it hard enough for you to move along with him.
“Wanna be dicked down? Fine by me, get on your hands and knees.”
You’re surprised, of course you are, but his tone is firm and you find yourself nodding and doing what he told you. You know you can say no; there is nothing in Bucky’s energy that makes you feel unsafe or as if you have no choice.
At the same time, he lets go of your hair just so he can take off his shorts completely.
“Are you not gonna make sure I’m wet enough for you?” You ask when you see him getting closer to you again, even though you are very wet. You just want to push his buttons.
“I can smell you if I focus on it, let me remind you.” He smiles. “I know you’re soaked, and you wanna be dicked down. Or are you backing off?”
Challenging prick!
You roll your eyes. “I’m not scared of your dick.”
“Good, because he wants to be friends with you.”
You close your eyes, cringing. “God, you were this close to turning me off.” You raise your hand in the air, putting your weight on the left one as you bring your thumb and index finger close to each other to show him exactly what a thin line this was.
Bucky laughs, shaking his head. “Don’t worry, I’m gonna make you forget it in a second.”
Your first instinct is to want to tease him about the second remark, to ask him if this is how long he can last, but you’re too horny now. And you also need rest for the mission tomorrow.
“How, uh…” You pause not knowing how to ask this properly. “Can you, uh, make babies?” You cringe at your words. “I mean, widows can’t… and I just wanted to know if we need a condom to be extra careful since you might be extra fertile because I am on the pill and I have no idea how sex with a super sold-”
Bucky’s lips press against yours suddenly, making you stop talking.
“Breathe.”
“I’m breathing,” you whisper and he cups your face.
“Not enough. We can use a condom if you want, but I’ll need to check where I can find one. Or we can go bare if you trust me… I can pull out and you are already protected, so there shouldn’t be a problem, I think.” He pauses to kiss your lips again. “But we can still use a condom anyway to be extra careful as you said.”
You frown at that, suddenly more desperate to feel him bare than ever before.
“No, I trust you. I have never done it without a condom before, and I assume you didn’t have much time to uh… have sex.”
Bucky snorts amused. “Now why do you assume that?”
“You look like you haven’t been fucked since 1945.”
The fact he doesn’t even deny it makes you feel even bolder, so you reach for his cock and place your thumb on his wet head while wrapping the rest of your hand around the length. “Are you gonna even last for a second once you’re inside me, Sergeant Barnes?” You snort when you see him trying to hold back his moan by biting his lip. It makes you feel happy. “Or do you even manage to get inside me before- ahh!” He is predictable this time as he pulls your hair, so you laugh.
“Are you familiar with this whole red, yellow, green color code?”
You gasp. “Yes, read about it, never needed it. But how do you know that?”
“I read about it, too.” His grin is so wide and beautiful that you melt again.
“Quite naughty of you, Serge. Reading dirty books. Needed some ideas?”
Bucky smirks, kissing you again and again. “Gonna need a review after I finish with you.”
“You finishing with me?” You smile. “Big words, Barnes, but no action.”
He knows you challenge him, and you don’t try to hide it. Do you have to beg for his cock for him to finally fuck you? He is edging you on purpose at this point.
You let out a whimper in anticipation when he moves behind you.
“Are you sure you’re fine with no condom?”
“Ihm, I’m not ovulating anyway,” you whisper, trying not to sound too eager. But you are. You want to get dicked down, indeed. And you wanted it for months.
His silence makes you a bit nervous, but the sounds of him dropping to his knees behind you, followed by his hand grabbing his cock and positioning it at your entrance while squeezing your hip with the metal arm.
You love the sensation of the coldness, but you love even more when he leans in to kiss your back before he pushes inside you.
It takes two tries, though, for him to be able to push halfway inside you because you kept pushing his dick out of you instantly. You managed to take him only when he brought his fingers to your clit and rubbed a bit.
You still laughed though because the sounds were too funny and his little frustrated whimpers were hilarious. The amusement turns quickly into more horniness when you feel him stretching you without even being fully inside you. You dreamed and daydreamed about it… fantasized about it, but it still wasn’t even close to how it actually feels. How full it feels. It’s like you cannot even think, your body is weak.
“Fuck,” your voice is cracking. “Deeper.”
“You’re so fucking tight,” he whispers.
“So?” You bring your hand to his ass, trying to show him you really need it deeper. “Why do you make it sound like a bad thing? Or are you trying not to come, Mr. Super Soldier?”
“You have quite a mouth on you, I think you need it-”
“You talk way too much. Are you nervous or-” It’s his turn to interrupt you with a thrust. Such a deep thrust your head is spinning. He’s not fully inside you, you realize, but he doesn’t try to, instead, he starts to fuck you, taking your breath away. His fingers leave your clit, grabbing your hips with both hands.
There is no question anymore, just fucking as you wanted.
And it feels like heaven. You try to keep your eyes open just so you look at him over your shoulder, but it’s impossible.
“Cat got your tongue?”
You groan. “No, you did, n-now fuck me harder.”
“Well, well,” he slows down and you almost wanna die. “This is not how you talk to your Sergeant, is it?”
He can’t do this!
“Fuck you!”
“What does my baby want?” His thrusts are too slow and teasing, just like his voice. “Use your words, beg for it.”
You’re not turned off, surprisingly. Not at all, on the contrary, the firm tone he uses, the words… you’re getting hornier, if that is even possible.
“I love your cock, Sergeant, so please give it to me. Fuck me harder and faster. Need you to pull my hair, and choke me, and… be rough.” You would be embarrassed if you weren’t so desperate. You know he wouldn’t make fun of you for this, so you trust him.
“Only mine.” You take a deep breath relieved when you feel his right hand wrap around your hair. “Do you hear me? Answer me.”
You nod, unable to say anything because he starts to thrust hard and fast, just like he did before he stopped. Your tits are jumping at the impact, and you have to dig your toes into the floor.
“Use your words. If you want my,” he moans. “If you want my cock and my hand wrapped around your neck, you have to use your big girl words. Tell me you’re only mine.”
You can’t hold back your tears this time. You love it so much, you can’t believe you waited so long to have him.
“Only yours.”
“No Steve.”
He lets go of your hair, wrapping his hand around your neck. No pressure, not moving it, he’s just holding it there.
“There’s n-no Steve, Sergeant. Only you. My pussy belongs to you. I o-only want to get filled by you.”
You know he’s smiling without needing to look at him.
“You love your Sergeant’s cock, don’t you?” You have no idea how he’s able to speak while thrusting so hard. He’s a fucking robot, indeed. “No one else could give you this, no matter how much they tried.”
You feel the building in your core. You’re so, so close already, so you try to place your weight on only one hand and bring the other to cover his, and before he can say something, you encourage him to choke you by pressing his fingers on the sides of your neck.
You moan so loudly you surprise even yourself. You sound like a cat.
“Please, sergeant, please, choke me.” You repeat your move and you close your eyes. “Please, daddy, I’m so c-close.”
He pauses for a second, and you don’t know why.
Before you can ask what’s wrong, he doesn’t just start to thrust inside you again, he dicks you down just the way you wanted. It’s as if he fucks the air out of your lungs every time you exhale. You’re crying and screaming at this point, so loud the whole floor must hear you. But you’re not ashamed. You feel so close you can almost taste it.
You barely hear his whimpers, but they’re there and they’re so beautiful.
You get no warning when he decides to squeeze the sides of your neck: gently at first, but then? Perfect. So perfect you come without warning, not being able to even say his name. You just scream some nonsense, your hand dropping from his to the floor so you can ground yourself properly. Your whole body is burning, and burning, and burning, coming alive for what feels like an eternity.
He doesn’t wait even for a second after you come down from your orgasm. Instead, he gets his dick out of you, grabbing you by your ass and raising you in his arms. Still weak, you barely have the strength to wrap your legs around his waist and your hands around his neck. He’s sweaty but not that hot. His metal arm is making you cool down.
“Daddy’s gonna take good care of you.” His lips find your forehead and you fight the urge to kiss his neck. You feel so small in his arms… and as if no one can hurt you.
You’re smiling like a fool when your back hits his bed, and so is he. Such a beautiful, blinding smile.
You let him spread your legs before you drag his face down so you can kiss him. You bite his lip hard until he opens his mouth, moaning when you feel him entering you again. This time, you’re relaxed so he thrusts inside you so much easier.
“Gonna make you come again around your daddy’s cock..”
His hands wrap your legs around his ass when he starts to thrust again.
“You’re quite… into it, Sergeant Barnes. So dirty!”
He gently grabs your jaw. “Tongue out.”
You do it, opening your mouth and waiting, and waiting until you finally understand what he’s about to do.
Instead of being grossed out, as you expected, you eagerly swallow the saliva that he lets drip from his mouth, which lands on your tongue.
You bat your eyes as you start to move your hips to meet his thrusts halfway, and that sends him into a frenzy.
“Fucking hell, you don’t want to sleep tonight, do you?” He asks sarcastically, but you don’t have enough air to tease him with a stamina comment. “You want me to make you scream and swallow my spit and come till we have to go to that fucking mission. Till your beloved Steve needs to come to us himself and hear us covered in come but still fucking.” You moan at the idea of your teammates finding out about this. You get awful comments anyway; at least you can get him for real and rub it in their faces. “You would like that, wouldn’t ya? Having all my undivided attention on you, not caring that my best friend is mad…” The thrusts are so deep that your head falls on the pillow instantly. You cannot keep your eyes open for even a second and you’re crying again. “Not caring my pal wanted you so badly he even tried to take you out tonight.”
“Sergeant-”
Thrust after thrust. You grab his forearm as tightly as you can so you can have something to hold onto.
“He thought he could have you, that you’d choose him. Come on, love. Come on, scream my name, let them hear. Let them all hear whose cock you cry for. Who is the one you belong to.” His balls slap against your skin so hard they tickle you. But not even that can distract you from almost reaching your orgasm. His words, his cock, his possessiveness…
“Sergeant, please. No one but you, can I… c-can I touch my clit? I’m so, so close.”
You don’t have to, though, because he is quick enough to bring his flesh hand between your bodies and rub your clit just the way you need it.
“F-fuck, coming,” you manage to warn him before the pleasure hits you. It’s so overwhelming you see white, digging your nails into his forearm.
You don’t know what you call him… daddy, Bucky or sergeant, but it doesn’t matter. You hear his praise, how you’re his good girl, and his words encouraging you to come for him.
When you can focus again, you kiss him with everything you have.
“Need you to come for me, Sergeant Barnes,” you whisper between kisses. “Need you to come inside me, need you to fill me up with your come, sir.”
He hisses loudly, his eyes being more grey than blue.
“Don’t tease me.”
“I mean it,” you make eye contact, wrapping your legs tighter around him. “Not the heat of the moment. I need your come, daddy. I’m on birth-”
He kisses you so hard your teeth end up hitting, but you don’t care. This is everything.
“Gonna come, gonna give you what you want. Gonna make you my come s-slut. Is that what you needed?”
“Yes, yes.” You’re so excited to watch him finish you don’t even realize how much you like being called his come slut until he says it again. “Come on, Sergeant, come for me.”
After you say that, it only takes him two more thrusts to finish, moaning your name.
His eyes close, and you notice how pretty his eyelashes are. And the little moles on his face… his mouth semi-open and his hair in all directions.
You want to witness this every day.
Before you can stop yourself, you lean in to kiss his nose and cheeks, letting your hips move at the same time.
“C-can’t… doesn’t stop,” he manages to groan, and you bring your hand to his nape, caressing his hair as he rides out his orgasm.
When he finally finishes, though, his head falls on top of your breasts, his mouth finding your nipple and playing with it before sucking it fully into his mouth.
“Easy, Bucky,” you moan, but he keeps going, though.
You have to pull his hair, to make him stop.
“Don’t get me wrong, I love it, but I need to uh… I’m tired.”
You’re back to your shy self. But his smile still makes you feel so relaxed.
“Got you tired, huh?” He winks, giving your breasts a kiss before pressing his lips against yours. “Fuck, I’ve never been so aroused in my entire life. Won’t even mention how happy I am.”
“Me neither,” you whisper.
“Well, we need to get used to it.”
You laugh so happily that you think your chest will explode. It’s surreal.
“You owe me that dinner after all.”
“A million dinners.”
You roll your eyes playfully. “Trying to charm me?”
He pecks you one more time before getting out of you with a whimper.
“I’ve already done it.”
It’s weird to be empty like this again, but seeing your come and wetness on his pubic hair or dripping out of your pussy just to soak the sheets beneath you distracts you. You made a mess.
“We need to clean this.”
“Don’t worry about it,” he says distractedly as he uses his index finger to push some come back inside you. Jesus! “This is the hottest thing I’ve ever seen.”
You smile. “You’re a whore.”
“Your whore.” He slowly gets out of bed, grabbing his shorts from the floor.
“Want me to go?” You ask all of a sudden, gaining a confused look from him.
“Why would I want that? Unless you do, of course…” He runs a hand through his hair, trying to fix it a little. “But I want you to stay.”
“Saw you dressing.” You bring your knees up just to put your chin on top of them. You feel extra shy.
He smiles. “Just gonna get you some water. I don’t want you dehydrated.”
*
Bucky knew Steve was in the kitchen as soon as he went down the stairs. He smiles casually, not giving him a second look as he goes straight to the fridge. It’s not like he hasn’t seen him in shorts or shirtless before, and Bucky knows he knew exactly what happened upstairs.
“Can’t sleep?” Steve’s tone is so obvious Bucky almost laughs.
“Not sleepy yet. What about you? You’re alright, punk?”
“Yeah,” he says, taking a sip from his own glass of water; his hands tightly wrapped around the glass.
“Still mad about earlier? You know I’m right.”
Steve shakes his head. “No, it’s all good.”
Bucky sighs dramatically. He loves Steve, he is his brother, but sometimes he is so annoying.
“Well, try to get some sleep. I suggest you wear some earplugs or something, though,” Bucky suggests casually, taking a whole bottle of water. “We wouldn’t want you too sleepy tomorrow. And the night is young.” He even winks at Steve, making him clear his throat.
“Buck…”
“Not a super soldier perk, I know, but you understand, right?” The smirk he suddenly gives Steve is almost sinister. “She chose me after all, and I gotta let her test-drive me. Have a good night!”
Even though he turns around, Bucky doesn’t miss the way Steve’s hold gets so tight that his glass almost breaks.
Bucky doesn’t regret it. He had it coming when he thought you’d choose him.

I Got You » Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier
Pairings: Boyfriend/Avenger!Bucky Barnes x Girlfriend!Reader with Steve Rogers/Captain America, Sam Wilson/Falcon, and Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow
Summary: Y/N gets kidnapped by HYDRA and Bucky saves her.
Warnings: Fluff, language, HYDRA, kidnapping, blood and bruises, crying, hugs and kisses, cuddling, Bucky being the best/protective boyfriend ever, use of pet names
A/N: This is based off a dream I had.
Written on my phone. I’m sorry for any mistakes and typos.
Header made by @buckys-wintersoldier
Bucky was pacing back and forth in the lounge room of the Avengers Compound, wondering why you are there yet. You told him that you would hangout at the Compound while he trains for an upcoming mission.
“What’s wrong with you?” Sam asks, walking in the room.
“I’m worried about Y/N.” Bucky says.
“Did something happen to her?” Sam asks.
“I don’t know. That’s what I’m trying to figure out.” Bucky says, running his fingers through his hair.
Natasha walks in the lounge room with a phone in her hand.
“Barnes, someone’s on the phone for you.” Natasha says, handing him the phone.
Bucky furrows his eyebrows, taking the phone from her. If it’s you, you would’ve called his phone.
“Hello?” Bucky answers.
“Didn’t take long to get ahold of you, Winter Soldier.” The man says in a Russian accent.
“What the hell do you want?” Bucky asks.
“It’s more like who I have.” The man chuckles. “Meaning, your precious doll.” He says.
Bucky felt his heart drop and his mind started racing. He began thinking the worst.
“I swear if you do anything to her. I’ll-” Bucky got interrupted.
“You’ll what, Soldat? Kill me? That wouldn’t do you any good if you want to find your best girl alive.” The man says and hung up.
Bucky stood there frozen as the line went dead. His blood began to boil. He shoved the phone in Natasha’s hand and went to find Steve. Sam and Natasha looked at each other in confusion before following Bucky.
“Steve, get your shield.” Bucky says, walking in the conference room.
“Why?” Steve asks, furrowing his eyebrows.
“Barnes, what’s wrong? Who was on the phone?” Natasha asks.
“HYDRA. They have Y/N.” He tells them.
“What did he say?” Sam asks.
“That they have Y/N and that’s it.” He explained. “I really need to find her.” He says, tears brimming his eyes.
“We’ll find her, Buck.” Steve says softly, putting a comforting hand on his best friend’s shoulder.
Meanwhile, you woke up to the feeling of your head pounding. You moved to get up, only to find out that you were strapped down to a chair, making you furrow your eyebrows in confusion.
“I was wondering when you would going to wake up. I was beginning to think that one of my men struck you too hard and killed you.” A man’s voice said.
You looked up, seeing a bunch of people surround you.
“My name is-” You interrupted him.
“I don’t care what your fucking name is. Where the hell am I?” You asked.
You yelped when his hand smacked you across your face, hard enough to make your head turn. He gripped your jaw roughly and looked in your eyes.
“It’s rude to interrupt people when they’re talking.” He says.
He let go of your jaw and walked away for a moment before watching back towards you.
“Now, you know someone we want back.” He says.
“I don’t know who you’re talking about.” You lied, knowing that he’s talking about Bucky.
“Really? The name James Buchanan Barnes doesn’t sound familiar to you?” He asks.
“No.” You lied again.
“Liar!” He shouts, smacking you again causing you to whimper in pain. “You know who he is cause you’re wearing his Army dog tags!” He yells. “Where is he?” He asks.
“Fuck you!” You shouted. “He’d never come back to this hell hole!” You say.
The man chuckled before turning to two of his men.
“Take her to a cell.” He tells them.
They nodded and uncuffed you from the chair, carrying you down the hallway. You tried your best to fight them off, but their grip on you was too strong. The more you fought them, the tighter their grip got. When they got you to a cell, they threw you in there. You fell to the floor and hit your head causing you to whimper in pain. You put a hand on the spot where you hit your head, feeling a little bit of blood trickling into your hand. You sat against the wall in the corner of the cell, pulling your knees up against your chest and wrapped your arms around them.
“Bucky, where are you? Please hurry.” You say to yourself, tears rolling down your cheeks.
Meanwhile, Bucky, Steve, Sam, and Natasha were on their way to you. Bucky tugging at his hair and was pacing back and forth in the quinjet, feeling like he was losing his mind. Bucky’s mind immediately started thinking the worst.
“Buck…” Steve snaps Bucky out of his thoughts. “We’re going to find her.” He says.
“What if we don’t? It’ll be my fault for not saving her.” Bucky says.
“None of this is your fault and you know it. Y/N knows it too.” He says softly, putting a comforting hand on Bucky’s shoulder.
“I can’t lose her, Steve. She’s the love of my life. I won’t survive without her.” He tells his best friend with tears in his eyes.
Steve gave Bucky a hug.
“I’m sorry to break up your moment, but we’re at the base.” Sam informs the Super Soldiers. “Are you ok, man?” He asks Bucky.
“I will be when I get the love of my life back.” Bucky says.
Bucky, Steve, Sam, and Natasha got off of the quinjet and cautiously approached the base, finding an unlocked door. They went inside of the base and split up so they could find you. You jumped at the sound of an alarm and gunshots. You stayed in the corner of the room, continuing to hug your knees. The next thing you knew, the door was kicked down causing you to cover your head in fear and your heartbeat to pick up. Bucky carefully approached you, making sure to not scare you.
“Doll, it’s Bucky.” Bucky says softly.
You uncovered your head and looked up, seeing your boyfriend. You immediately stood up and hugged him, breaking down into tears. Bucky held you tightly in his arms, tears escaping his eyes.
“You’re ok. I got you, babydoll.” He whispers.
He pulled away from the hug to kiss you passionately. Bucky felt relieved, knowing that you’re ok.
“I’m so happy that you’re alive.” Bucky says in almost a whisper, looking deep in your eyes.
He kissed you once more before informing Steve, Sam, and Natasha that he found you and you’re alive and safe. He picked you up bridal style and carried you to the quinjet, taking you to the Compound. Bucky helped you get cleaned up and patched you up, kissing each one of your injuries. Luckily you sustained minor injuries. Bucky has not left your side in the past few days. He helped you through a nightmare when you woke up crying. He held you close to him and you guys watched movies to get your mind off of everything. He even made coffee for you in the morning.
“How’s Y/N doing?” Steve asks Bucky.
“Last night, she had a nightmare and woke up crying.” Bucky tells them.
“She’s going to get through this, Bucky.” Natasha says, putting a comforting hand on his right arm.
“We’re here for her if she needs anything.” Sam says.
“Thanks, guys.” Bucky smiles at them.
Everyone went quiet when you walked in the kitchen. You smiled softly at them, playing with one of the sleeves of your -Bucky’s- sweatshirt.
“You ok, doll?” Bucky asks, handing you your coffee and wrapped his arms around you.
“I’m fine. I just got lonely.” You say, taking a sip of your coffee.
Bucky held you close to him and kissed the top of your head.
“I wanted to tell you guys thank you for helping Bucky save me.” You say.
“We’d do it again.” Steve says with a smile.
“We’re here for you, Y/N.” Natasha says.
“We’re just happy that you’re ok.” Sam says.
You gave them a smile. They left the kitchen, giving you and Bucky time alone.
“Thank you for saving me, Bucky.” You say, looking up at him.
“You don’t have to thank me, doll. I will save you no matter what.” Bucky says softly with a smile.
Bucky took your coffee from your hands and put it on the counter. He cupped your cheeks and kissed you passionately. Bucky is so happy to have his best girl back. He’s going to do everything he can to protect you. One thing’s for sure, he’s never letting you out of his sight again.
“I love you so much, doll.” Bucky says softly, moving a piece of your hair from your face.
“I love you more, Buck.” You say in almost a whisper, looking in his beautiful blue eyes.

non-exhaustive list of films that would cause eddie diaz to have a mental breakdown and/or cry so hard he throws up:
moonlight (2016). self explanatory.
the only son (1936). eddie might actually kill himself if he watched this. he would just be silent for like hours after watching and that night he would just stand in christopher's doorway watching him sleep for like minimum forty-five minutes. he would exist in a state of profound pessimism and melancholy until he saw buck again at which point he would forget about all of that and be normal. sometimes in his life he will randomly remember the only son (1936) and be like chris. you know that i'll be proud of you no matter what you do with your life right. all i want is for you to be happy. and chris will be like yeah.... why are you talking like we're in a movie and you have a terminal illness. and eddie's like i'm not talking like that i'm being normal. i'm a father. and chris is like ok weirdo. and eddie feels better.
the babadook (2014). self explanatory.
4th man out (2015). he would be like this movie is so dumb it's So dumb and then 1. cry when adam comes out to his mom and 2. get deeply invested in the relationship between adam and nick and when they kiss toward the end he'd be like YESSSSS but then when they laugh it off and say they're just friends he'd be like oh..... and feel really upset about it for reasons he cannot explain. he would rant to buck/chim/hen/bobby for like fifteen minutes about how the whole movie was CLEARLY leading up to a romantic conclusion between them and the writers were just being cowards for going with the best bros ending and buck would be like EXACTLY and everyone else would be like 👀😳 and hen would be like well i think they were trying to make the point that gay men can still have close intimate friendships with other men without it being sexual and eddie would be like okay well then those guys shouldn't have had so much chemistry!! and chim would be like yknow some might say that you and buck have good chemistry. and buck would be like we do <3 and eddie would be like hell yeah we do and they'd fuckin fist bump or something and the entire firehouse is like oh my GODDDDDD.
but i'm a cheerleader (1999). self explanatory.
brokeback mountain (2005). self explanatory.
captain america: the winter soldier (2014). eddie reacts So strongly to this movie and nobody understands it (including eddie) except for buck who immediately and instinctively understands that eddie is projecting onto both steve rogers and bucky barnes but only the sad lonely soldier losing himself and hurting the people he loves against his will parts + completely bypassing the hero parts. also steve's like "even when i had nothing i had bucky" and eddie is like hhhhhhhhh...
the pit, the pendulum and hope/kyvadlo, jáma a naděje (1983). okay look. i'm aware that nobody knows what this is. it is a short film inspired by edgar allan poe's "the pit and the pendulum" and auguste villiers de l'isle-adam's "a torture by hope." you should all go watch it but if you don't let me just tell you that eddie would have another panic attack and/or throw up.
the lord of the rings: return of the king (2003). self explanatory.

YANDERE STEVE ROGERS HEADCANONS
He'd fall madly in love with you if you explain something to him from the modern times or just by being yourself. Yep... man here loves you for talking to him NOT just because he's Captain America but as Steve too if you get what I mean
He'd most probably stalk you and make sure you're 'safe'. He finds it completely normal though. The way he sees it is he's just patrolling the place you live at to check for 'any signs of disturbances' to stalk you and drink in your divine beauty. Might even get some of the other Avengers like Natasha and Bucky to help him since they're like best friends and stuff
Completely POSSESSIVE and obsessive as hell. Oh, and not to mention kinda delusional too
The world is a harsh place according to him and he needs to make sure you're safe at any cost. And yes, he will kidnap you if he thinks you're in danger. But not before he finds out more about you and your likes and dislikes and even your relationships with other people, which he doesn't like that much. He wants you to be the only person to depend on and it just infuriates him when you go and hang out with other people. Was he not good enough for you? To cope with his jealousy he's going to try spending more time with you like training together and you both going out more often together
Will most likely kidnap you if he thinks you're putting yourself in danger but don't worry, he'll make the room and the house to your liking. He'll get all the things that you love like fluffy pillows and stuffed animals and books etc. etc.
Good luck trying to make people believe that he kidnapped you. They'd most probably recommend you to a doctor or something because who would believe the chivalrous gentlemanly Captain America would actually KIDNAP someone?? And Steve will most CERTAINLY find out about you trying to tell someone about that and he'll be really disappointed in you. He might scold you like how a kind dad scold his child but if you test his patience levels too much he might just have to teach you a lesson
Don't bother trying to escape from him. Security around you is HELLA tight and plus even if you did manage to escape, one: How in the absolute HECK did you manage THAT?! And two: He'll track you down anyways and trust me, he has ALL the resources that he needs for getting you back in literally less than 24 hours
Normally Steve doesn't get angry THAT much but you better watch out when he DOES. He might lock you in a room if you've tried escaping from him or forcefully cuddle with you since he thinks you feel neglected. Or else he might yell at you at why you're being ungrateful and stuff like that. Yes, it pains him to say and do things like this but he WILL discipline you by any means necessary but he won't do anything to you without your consent of course. Even when he's angry, he's STILL respectful. Well... at least to YOU that is. When it comes to rivals... oh boy.... they're going to kiss the Earth goodbye in less than half a second if someone gets the bright idea to mess with him or you. The Avengers are an exception to this which means you absolutely can NOT go to them for help
He will get absolutely PISSED if he sees Tony talking to you and he'll drag you away from him gritting his teeth. Normally the 2 of them don't get along too well and when it comes to you, he's literally aching to punch him in the face when he sees you talking to him. You're going to have to assure Steve you love him and not let him go and cuddle with him after that. You don't wanna make boi here sad now, DO you?
He wants to have that All American lifestyle with you. You know with the painted white fence, maybe a golden retriever and a nice villa and 3-4 kids. Maybe even more. And when he gets to know you're pregnant, his obsession and over protectiveness of you will shoot up to the roof and out to space. You belong to HIM and NOTHING can separate the 2 of you and he'll make sure of that

Cap-Ironman Rec Week 2024
Time Travel Tuesday: July 23rd
Prompt: Rec all those great fanworks where Tony or Steve (or Tony and Steve) travel to the past or the future or to an alternate past or future and discover unexpected realities and new truths!
I absolutely love this trope! And we are truly blessed in this fandom to have so many fantastic authors tackling it. Here is a very small selection of my favorite time-travel / timey-wimey-shenanigan fics:
-- And Has Time Enough by wanttobeatree
Tony asks if they have met. It's a matter of perspective. (A Time Traveller's Wife AU.)
-- Double Time by Sineala
Cassino, Italy, December 1943. Special Agent Tony Stark, former Marvels adventurer, is sent to investigate a Cosmic Cube found by the Invaders -- and it's the perfect opportunity for him to rekindle his secret romance with Steve Rogers. But when Hydra attempts to steal the Cube, an inadvertent wish for help leads to the appearance of a Tony from the future of another world: Director Stark of SHIELD. This Tony is a man with a lot on his mind. He refuses to tell them anything about the future, but he seems to know much more than he should about Captain America. And something's happened that's clearly killing him inside, but he's not talking. When Director Stark's failed attempt to return home leads to the unexpected appearance of another visitor from his universe, all the lies come undone. Now there are two wars to fight, and the second one could ruin all of them.
-- A Shadow Hanging Over Our Fate by CaptainDean13
The Avengers get sent back in time to WWII where they run into the Howling Commandos... complete with Bucky and Steve. Little hard to explain that away, especially when you are trying to keep some major secrets. Secrets like how you ended up in the future and why the hell Bucky is now a scary (reformed) assassin with a metal arm, not to mention that you married your friend's son.
MORE RECS BELOW THE CUT:
-- The Good or Bad Thing by petreparkour
“It’s the metal suit,” Thor informed Steve, his normally-booming voice tinny over the SHIELD comms. “What did Stark call it—Iron Man?” “But he’s down here,” Steve protested as the Hulk roared in Stark’s face, startling him into waking with a shout. “How could—” “It’s damaged,” Thor reported. “But it looks different. More advanced. And he—ah. He’s carrying you, Captain.” “Please tell me nobody kissed me,” Stark breathed out, and then Stark’s voice suddenly came over the comms, but the man lying next to him hadn’t moved. “Guys, come on, you’re killing me here. What is it, 2012? God, I hate time travel. First, I'm fighting Thanos. Now, I have to deal with my past self and Thor's bad haircut? Oh my God, Cap, yes I hacked their comms, they’re my comms.” Steve nearly opened his mouth to protest that he hadn’t said anything when he realized that this replica of Tony Stark wasn’t speaking to him.
-- Calls Me Home by steve-capsicle-rogers (adorable_lab_rat)
Tony can't help but notice the far away look on Steve's face. The visible pain and loss. It wasn't right and giving Steve back everything he'd lost was the right choice. The right thing. And honestly Tony didn't do the right thing near enough.
-- A Hundred Times, Once by FestiveFerret, SirSapling
The shrill tone of his SHIELD beeper pulls Steve out of sleep and into battle. He fights robots, he fights Tony's shameless advances, he fights the exhaustion that threatens to take over him, drown him. And then the next morning, he wakes and does it again. Exactly the same. And again. And again. And again.
-- hunters seeking solid ground by laramara
In the wake of the battle with Thanos, Steve feels unmoored in a way he hasn’t since before he ate shawarma with a group of virtual strangers and thought maybe, maybe he could one day find a place here. Steve returns the stones, and has a few unexpected interactions and makes some decisions along the way.
-- The Butterfly Effect by itsallAvengers
While fighting with Loki, Steve Rogers from 2012 hears the two simple words: "Bucky's alive." And the whole universe ripples with the aftershocks.

HAPPY CAPTAIN AMERICA DAY
You probably can’t tell this from my blog, but this is like, *my* movie. It’s just…my movie. Everyone associates me with this movie, just like they associate me with Vox and Taylor Swift. I’ve seen this movie, an insurmountable amount of times, to the point of where I know the line of just about every single character, I remember when all the little music cues come in, and my entire existence is just…LITTERED with traces of this movie. I’ve tried so hard to get my claws on merch and items from this specific era of movie, and obviously, with it being 10 years old now, that’s incredibly difficult to do. It’s weird, I feel inferior most days, because my favorite things don’t really “stack up” against other people’s favorites, especially with me being so involved in the art ‘world’. Like, it’s very difficult to explain why this is my favorite movie. Because there is no meaning to it by the majority of people’s standards. But this is the movie that made me want my own TV show. The camera angles when Steve talks on the PA system are just…I can’t even. Chris Evans’ delivery choice on “absolute control”, coupled with the complete lack of outside sound, were jaw dropping to me 10 years ago, and they still have the exact same effect on me now. The witty banter between Nat and Steve actually being smart and witty, and not just “witty for the sake of her being pretty”, also stuck out to me. The mall dialogue is one of my most favorite little story telling pockets I’ve ever seen. She was funny in her own way. Yes, the physical impracticalities of Natasha in this movie still irritate me, (her hair when she comes out of Sam’s bathroom? Really? Come on.) but it characterized her a hell of a lot better than the other movies did. (Aside from her own.) Another thing I always loved, was the absence of references to other parts of Marvel at the time. Like yeah it had references, but they were absolutely necessary not just to the plot, but also for the audience to start understanding Steve as a character. His little hint of exasperation on “Stark?” while still remaining cordial with Nick, is *chefs kiss*. That ONE single line, conveys all of his feelings about Tony up to that point in time: he knows he’s damn good at what he does, but that still doesn’t negate the fact, in Steve’s mind, that Tony still has the capacity for selfishness and recklessness. I also love that one-liner, because they’ve gotta remember from a directorial standpoint, that to we as an audience, Steve has pretty much only just come back. That itty bitty line really hammers that down. His exasperation isn’t just at Tony, it’s at technology in general. It all clicks for him: this is a necessary evil. It’s a new world, and Nick even says that to him, multiple times throughout the film. And with that being a recurring theme, it shows us how flawed this iteration of Steve really was. Of course he was a good person overall, but he still struggled with putting himself on a pedestal. His internal struggle with how he views himself, is also reflected in his treatment of Bucky. Something I wish more people would clue into, is Steve wasn’t denying that fact that Bucky is different now, he was trying, to convince his equally traumatized self, that Bucky wasn’t different. His rational brain knew Bucky wasn’t the same, but we see bits and pieces of ‘irrational’ bleeding heart Steve, come back into the picture, every time they’re on screen together. Very few actors, (especially nowadays,) can act with their eyes, and nothing else. Sebastian Stan? Is the MAN of eye-acting. Even now, he remains a criminally underrated performer. The artistic genius of the costume design, making the mask and goggles two separate pieces, was also half the reason he was able to convey an entire lifetime’s worth of a character’s story, just through eye contact. And the moments where he would break eye contact were SO poignant. Because yet another thing I wish people would understand, is Bucky wasn’t triggered by Steve’s devastation in “Bucky?”, he was trigged just by seeing Steve. Cont.

Wandanat x GN! Reader
(This is the first thing I've wrote in like 7 years 😭)
Word Count : 2,756
You listened whilst Steve explained what you're to do on the mission you'd been assigned to with some other members of the team.
This was your first mission since you were rescued from Hydra. The focus of the mission was to storm a Hydra base and recover a hard drive with some information about a top secret project on it. Its a 5 person mission, one of those 5 people being the man who your supposed to be listening too. Steve Rogers, the amazing Captain America. After spending 70 years in the ice you'd think he'd be a little faster at talking then this. On your left was the Winter Soldier. Supposedly he was the Captains best friend. James, or Bucky as he'd insist you call him, was once one of hydras puppets as well. Now recovered and ready to take down Hydra he's one of the teams best Soldiers. Across the table from you sits one of the teams best assailants. Natasha Romanoff, The Black Widow. Now you don't know much about her other that she's a great fighter and you don't want to be against her. As scary as she already is, sitting next to her is her girlfriend, Wanda Maximoff. Agent Maximoff is the one who managed to catch you and finally bring you into the Avengers grasp. While you were trying to defend yourself from her girlfriend she'd snuck up on you and trapped you with her scarlet red powers. You live across the hall from their shared room and yet you never talk. You aren't mad at them or hostile but your not friendly either. You are just Agents for the same team. They've tried to be kind to you and welcome you to their team, but you don't understand why. You've already tried to hurt them once and your sure Natasha has a scar on her left bicep from your first encounter. Not to mention when Hydra came looking for their prized pupils and the team had to defend you. So many different members got hurt trying to protect you from going back there and you can't understand why they'd try so hard.
Steve finally wraps up his speech by the time you've remembered where you are and within minutes your on a quintet sitting next to the dynamic redheaded duo that is Agents Maximoff and Romanoff. Your in the middle of the three seats with Wanda on your left and, Natasha on your right.
"So," Wanda begins, "are you nervous? I remember my first mission after arriving at the compound." You don't understand why she's talking to you. It's not like you were friends. You were just the weapon of the team. Wanda frowns upon hearing your thought that are, unbeknownst to you, extremely loud. "No. I was raised to be the perfect Soldier I've no need to be nervous." Was all you said back. But that's not the truth. Despite being through much worse you couldn't help but feel a tinge of anxiety about the mission. What if it's an ambush? What if someone on the team gets hurt? Or worse what if someone dies? What if someone's captured? What i-
You were broken from your thoughts by a hand waving in front of your face. "Hellooo? Y/n?" Natasha's hand stopped waving after you responded with a quiet "Yes, sorry just trying to go through the plan again."
"Hmm." You look over at Wanda, "Are you-" before she can finish, you hear Steve's voice. "Alright! Buck, Nat, and I are going to walk ahead and clear the east wing while, you two," he says pointing at you and Wanda, "are going to go through the west wing. Remember were looking for a hard drive it should be on the Bases main Guard's belt. Any questions?" When no one asked anything he nodded and walked back to the cockpit yelling out, "We should arrive in about 30 minutes. Since we are in the air your free to unbuckle and do whatever."
You immediately unbuckle and go over to the weapons area to insure yours are all in check. And also to avoid talking to either of the beautiful redheads who seem to constantly plague your mind. After insuring all your blades are sharpened and all of your firearms are loaded you, place them in their rightfully spots. Three throwing blades strapped to your left thigh, and one on each calf. A regular blade strapped to the right side of your hip, a pistol holstered on your right thigh and another on your left hip. And your last weapon, a silenced assault rifle on your back. By the time your done the jet has landed and your on your way towards the base.
"Alright," Steve whispers to your left, "when we get in there you two take the west side of the base, and keep comms on at all times." You nod and follow Steve towards the entrance. With Steve and Natasha on both sides of the door with James and Wanda getting ready to rush in you deliver a swift kick to the door and then pull your gun up from your left hip to rush in after the others. Upon running in you don't hear or see anything. "Odd. Stay on high alert it could be an ambush." Captain says before leading James and Natasha down the East Hallway. You walk away and hear a quick "be safe, Moya lyubov," from Natasha, you wait at the entrance way of the west hallway for Wanda to catch up. "Stay safe Y/L/N, comms on." You hear Natasha say before she takes off. As you and Wanda walk down the West Wing and clear room after room with no Hydra Agents to be found you become increasingly worried at the no signs of life. You come to the last door of the west side and walk up with your assault rifle in hand. "Are you ready?" You ask the Sokovaion with her hands raised in a scarlet hue, she nods and uses her powers to open the metal doors. With the doors open and your gun ready to shoot you run in and quickly look around the room.
"There's nothing on the east wing, no people, no tech, no hardware, nothing." You hear James say. "There's no one on the east side either. We've got an empty place." Wanda replies. "Wait- I think I've found something. C'mere, in this corner there's a draft. And the wall moves a little bit." You say while pushing on the wall the far side of the room. Wanda comes over to you to help you push, "They're right there is a moving wall here." A secret room. Classic.
Captains the one to respond, "We're on our way over be careful." With a nod of agreement from Agent Maximoff you begin pushing. After a few feet in you can enter the room behind the false wall. In the room lies nothing but two briefcases and a table which they rest upon. Knowing immediately something is wrong you try to tell Wanda but the briefcases open before you get the chance one holding the hard drive and the other a bomb that reads 10 seconds left before it explodes.
10. You look at Wanda and she starts to run back towards the room ushering you to follow.
9. You turn back and run towards the cases.
8. Wanda turns around and yells "Y/N WHAT ARE YOU DOING? WE NEED TO LEAVE!" You reach the cases.
7. You grab the hard drive and turn back around telling her to run.
6. You run towards the first room that Wanda's already in.
5." THERES A BOMB GO TO BACK!" You yell through comms grabbing Wanda's arm and ushering her towards the hallway.
4. Still a long ways to go to the exit.
3. You grab Wanda's arm and throw her in the containment room with the hard drive. Knowing that the containment rooms the only one that is 100% bombproof. But the door only shuts from the outside.
2. You shut the door and throw your throwing blade towards the nearby 2 story window.
1. The window shatters and you hear the thundering boom of the bomb as you dive through.
As your thrown through the window you hear Wanda screaming your name through comms. As you hit the ground you know you've definitely broken some bones and when you start to lose unconsciousness you see Natasha running up to you while Steve and James run towards the entrance to get Wanda out of the containment room. "I hope she's not hurt." Is the only thing you manage to say to Natasha before passing out.
When you awake again your met with a pat just short of a slap to the side of your face, "C'mon Y/n/n wake up, please." You hear Wanda's voice ringing in your ears. Groaning you open your eyes just to immediately close them at the bright light in your eyes. "Oh thank Thor, THEY'RE AWAKE BRUCE!" Natasha yells. You then open your eyes again to find your in the med bay with Natasha and Wanda looking down at you. "Why'd you go and do that!? You could've died!" Wanda immediately asks the panic evident in her voice. Why was she so worried? You finished the mission and everyone got out safe? Bruce came up and the girls stepped back to give him space. After doing some doctory stuff he told you, "Your incredibly lucky, Y/L/N. You've got a concussion so no TV, or anything overestimating to the brain. The fall also broke your right ankle and 5 of your ribs. So no training, or working out, for at least 6 weeks, though I'd prefer if you waited for 3 months. And because I know your stubborn and think you don't need rest, I'm counting on you two," he looked up from you to look at Natasha, who looked like she was staring daggers into your soul, and Wanda who looked like she was about to freak out, "to make sure they do this, and that the won't go crazy on the nurse I'll send to their room everyday." Both girls seen the look of fear and panic cross past your face. Wanda hearing your thoughts asks if they can speak to you alone for a moment.
After Bruce agrees and walks out, an awkward silence falls through the room. You don't know why but you feel like you've done something wrong and refuse to look at either of the redheads who are currently just staring at you. Trying to break the silence you ask, "Did everyone make it out ok? Did we complete the mission?" That obviously wasn't the right answer because Natasha's answer was nothing short of angry. "No Y/n, everyone did NOT make it back okay. I don't know if you've noticed but you're in a CAST." You finally turned your head to look at them and seen Natasha about to continue until Wanda stepped in. "Nat, wait. Y/n, you did complete the mission but we would've been fine without the hard drive. We could've made it out just fine, so why'd you turn back?" As she finished Wanda walked up to your bedside and sat down. "I didn't want my first mission to fail. And I knew that the containment room would keep you safe. I made sure you and the target were safe and secure. I succeeded in my goal. Did I do good? I tried to. I'm sorry." Upon hearing you say this Natasha sighed and walked to the other side of the bed, surprising you by pulling you into a gentle hug that Wanda soon joined. "You did amazing y/n. Next time let's try to not almost kill ourselves though yeah?" She softly said, laying a kiss on your forehead. "We know you don't want a nurse. So, we're wondering, if you're okay with it, if you'd like for us to help you with stuff?" Wanda murmured not removing herself from the hug. "I'd.. yeah. I'd like that a lot more, Wanda if it doesn't bother you or Natasha." You hesitantly said waiting for them to laugh and ridicule you for being so stupid. "OK! Well I'll go get Bruce and then when he gets back we'll get you signed out and up to our room so you can sleep. And you can just call me Nat, y/n/n." She said removing herself from the hug to go get Bruce. As Natasha went to do that Wanda got up and got everything ready for when Bruce got back.
After signing some papers and Bruce explaining what medicine you needed to take, and at what time. He also explained what you can't and can do. As he explained more and more of the things you'd need help with the more you felt like a burden and felt bad for what Natas- Nat, and Wanda would have to do. "Actually, Dr. Banner- if I may interject?" At his nod you continued, "I think I can do most of that stuff. I don't want to bother Mrs. Romanoff and Mrs. Maximoff." At this they both looked at you with such a look you could feel yourself wanting to shrink in on yourself.
"You wouldn't be bothering us, we insist. Please just let us help you y/n." Wanda said with the most convincing eyes you couldn't help but to nod and sign the last paper. Wanda left to grab a wheelchair while Natasha helped you sit up and grabbed the stuff from Bruce.
When Wanda came back they helped you into the wheelchair and handed you a stuffed (whatever your favorite animal is) stuffie to hold on to. You smiled at Natasha and muttered a small "thank you." Before looking back down at your new friend. Whilst Natasha pushed you Wanda held all your special stuff from Bruce.
When you got back up to the hallways they took you into your room to grab you some pj's. "Y/n you can't sleep in the hospital robe, it'll just take a second I promise." Nat promised after you whined about how you could sleep in this and that you're tired. After you picked out some comfortable clothes Natasha helped you change while Wanda made the bed and got your medicine ready. Whilst helping you Natasha kept making terrible puns to help it not be so awkward and Wanda couldn't help but to smile at every giggle of yours she heard. After getting you into pajamas, brushing your teeth, and washing your face she brought you back into their bedroom where Wanda had changed into her own set of pajamas and done her nightly routine. Natasha kissed your cheek before walking over to grab her own pajamas to go change into. Wanda came over and helped you up into their bed. She helped you move to the middle of the bed and then climbing to the other side, making sure to be careful of your legs that's in a cast. She gave you a glass of water and handed you your medicine. Natasha came back from the bathroom and then grabbed and ice pack from the freezer to put on your ri bs. "Noooooo, that's cold." You whined, "Sorry dorogoy," Wanda said from behind you, "Doctors orders." Natasha added on with a small smile. Sitting next to you on the bed she gently placed it on your bandaged ribs over your shirt. Small talk and asking what you wanted to do tomorrow made the 5 minute timer seem like 1. After Wanda used her magic to put the ice pack away they laid you down and laid next to you on either side. "Goodnight, detka." Wanda said as she laid a kiss on your nose, watching it scrunch up adorably before leaning over to give her girlfriend a kiss.
Remember that y/n girlfriend. They're dating, they're just being friendly.
That night you fell asleep to thoughts of the two extremely attractive redheads surrounding you. Even with broken ribs, a broken ankle, and a headache caused by Thor himself, you found yourself smiling happier than ever. Because even after everything Hydra put you through, you found two new friends. And even if your heart stung at being friends you were perfectly happy with just having at least one person to find comfort in. And to have two makes it even better.

One Day at a Time
Pairing: Past Bucky x Reader
Part 3 of Little Soldier
After Bucky had comforted you, there was this odd tension between the pair of you. You figured that it was your history trying to come back to you. You’d moved on! Why did you feel that small tug towards him? You were currently in your room, waking up from a nap. You’d gone straight from talking to Bucky to your room to lay down. “JARVIS?” You sat up, running a hand through your hair. “Can you ask Steve to have Nat watch Dom for a few minutes? I want to talk to him.” You planned to talk to Steve, then Nat after, and try to sort out what you were feeling. They were your two closest friends, and you trusted them completely. Their personalities were different enough that they’d offer two different perspectives.
A few minutes later, JARVIS alerted you that Steve would be there shortly. Getting out of bed, you went to get each of you a bottle of water. Letting out a breath, you leaned against the counter, staring at a single spot on the floor.
Once you’d heard a knock, you snapped out of it. “Come in.” You called out, making your way to the door. You gave him a small smile as you handed him the bottle of water. “Thanks for coming.”
“Of course.” He smiled back. “How’d your talk go?” Steve motioned for you to head to your couch so the two of you could sit down.
You shrugged a shoulder. “It was hard.” You half whined. “We talked about what you told me about what he told you, he wanted to know more about Dom, and he wound up holding me because it hit me that Dom can’t play soccer anymore. We have that whole damn set up at the house, and he loves it. Now...he has no backyard.” That’s what your son knew! Nature, having a yard to play in, going to school like a normal kid, and now? Now he was living with the Avengers, in the city, with no chances of anything being the same.
Steve was surprised at how that talk went, but had known it was gonna be emotional either way. “So, what’s on your mind now?” He figured that you needed to work things, and needed to get your thoughts out.
“Everything!” You sighed. “He wanted to know if I could get Dom to stop calling him the ‘creepy guy’ at least.” You started. “And I obviously plan to talk to Dom about that, I do. It just got me wondering how the hell I explain things to him. I don’t want to lie to him, but at the same time, I don’t think blurting out ‘hey, buddy, the guy you’ve been calling creepy is your father’.” You explained. “What if once I’m healed and all that, and the whole shock factor wears off for Bucky, he just pulls away? And then just avoids us?” You glanced at him, worried. “I don’t want to get Dom’s hopes up to get to know him for that to happen. I don’t want him to be angry that his father has been just hours away this whole time...and I’ve never said anything. I don’t want him angry at you guys because you live with him and never mentioned him. Ya know? It’s so hard.”
He wished that he had answers for you, that he could take away your worries and aching. But, he couldn’t. This was one area where being Captain America was useless. “Why don’t you take baby steps? You don’t need to worry about either of those extremes right now.” He reminded you. “Right now all you need to worry about is healing. That’s the most important thing right now. And being there for Dom.” He rubbed your back. “Why don’t you let Bucky know that you are thinking of telling Dom who he is, but you are scared. He’ll get that. Let him prove that he wants to be there. If he doesn’t, then that’s his loss. You and Dom are amazing.”
You gave him a tearful smile. “Steve. You’re great.” You sighed. “That’s a good idea.” You agreed. “Have I ever told you I love you?” You nudged him with your shoulder.
Chuckling, he shook his head. “Not lately.” He teased. “But, I love you, too.” He smiled.
“Alright, Nat. You’re up.” Steve told her as he went to get Dom. “I’m gonna steal this little guy and bring him out to get Y/N a little something from him.” He smiled as Dom got excited. “Hope to cheer her up a little bit.” He explained.
She tickled Dom’s sides, making him giggle. “Alright, get your mom something good, kiddo.” She got up. “Have fun with Uncle Steve.” She ruffled his hair playfully.
You were still on the couch when Nat walked in, ice cream in hand. “I thought you could use some of the good stuff.” She grinned. “I grabbed your favorite.”
That made you smile. “You’re the best.” You moved to sit sideways. Each of you were on an end of the couch, ice cream in the middle of you. “So, did Steve give you a heads up about what’s going on?” You wondered if you’d have to repeat yourself.
“He gave me a basic idea.” She shrugged a shoulder. “I don’t think he wanted to say too much around Dom, honestly.”
You nodded. “Yeah, true.” You took a bite of ice cream before you explained the same thing to Nat as you had to Steve. Your elbow was resting on the back of the couch, and your head was resting on your knuckles. “So. Yeah.” You let out a breath. “That’s that.”
She nodded. “Well, how do you feel about him and Steve?” She asked, curious. Nat could read people, and you knew that, so lying was pointless.
Staring at her, you blinked a few times. “What does Steve have to do with this? He’s one of my best friends.” You pointed out. “Pretty sure that tells you what you need to know about how I feel about him.” You were honestly confused at her bringing him into what was going on with Bucky when it came to Dom.
Nat looked amused, smirking at you. However, all she did was shrug, not explaining it to you. She saw something there, but didn’t want to voice that at the moment. Not when you had just lost Will. “I hate what Bucky did.” She started, looking more serious. “He’s lucky I never tore into him after that. I get not wanting kids, I mean I love Dom so much...but I have no desire to have my own. Not even with adopting or anything. But that? That was bullshit.” She shook her head. “Seeing you guys happy over the years has been great.” She gave you a sad smile. “I never guessed you’d be in this spot, honestly. If he hurts you guys this time? No one will ever find him.” Trying to lighten the mood, she nudged your leg with her foot.
You couldn’t hold back your smile at that. “Thanks, Nat.” You let out a breath. “I should go find my little guy.” You told her.
“He’s out with Steve.” She told you. “So you have some time to yourself.” Not something you were used to, she knew that. “I’d suggest a hot bath if you could.” However, she knew that you needed to heal.
“Girl time? Paint each other’s nails?” You asked. “Please?”
Nat pretended to think. “I’ll go get the few polishes that I have.” She grabbed the ice cream. “And put this in your freezer.”
Steve had Dom on his back, a bag in hand, as he made his way towards you. “Your mom is gonna love your present, little guy.” He smiled.
“I hope so!” He giggled. “Thank you for paying for it! I don’t have a lot of money in my piggy bank...that’s at home.” He added with a pout. “I wanna go home.” He sighed.
“I know, Dom.” He said gently. “I hope you can think of this as home soon, too. We love having you guys around.” Which was true. Going from seeing them a few times a year, to daily, was great. “Now we can have sleepovers whenever you want!” He reminded him.
Dom sighed. “Yeah, but we can’t go camping here.” That was something he liked that Steve had done with him when he visited for his birthday.
You were alone when the two of them got back. Steve set Dom down once your door was open. “Mommy!” Dom called out, rushing to find you. He crawled up on the couch with you. “I got you something!” He said proudly.
Steve came in, handing you the bag. “Here you go, doll.” He smiled as you took it.
“Awe, thank you guys.” You put the bag on your lap to look inside. First you pulled out a little stuffed cat. “So cute!” You rubbed your thumb over it. “And soft.” You set it next to you to pull out the one other thing inside- a little bracelet that was clearly meant for a little girl. “I think I’ll put this on the kitty for a necklace.” You smiled, pulling Dom into a hug, kissing the top of his head. Looking up at Steve, you gave him a thankful look.
“I love you, mommy.” He said as he stayed leaning against you. “I’m glad you’re getting better.”
You let out a soft sigh. “Me, too, baby.” You agreed. “Did you have fun with Uncle Steve?”
“Yeah!” He said excitedly. “Can he stay for dinner?” Dom shifted to look up at you. “Pleeeeeease?” He gave you a cute pleading look.
Chuckling, you looked at Steve. “If he wants to, yes.” You agreed. “Does Uncle Steve want to stay for dinner?”
Steve pretended to think, tapping his finger on his chin. “Well, it’s either that or eat with everyone else…” He mused. “I’ll stay on one condition. Dom helps me cook dinner for his mom.” He chuckled as Dom nodded. “Well, then I guess I’m staying.” He agreed, making Dom clap.
Wanda looked around as the team ate dinner. “We’re down a few people.” She noted, raising an eyebrow. “You were with Y/N earlier Nat, she okay?” If you were missing, she would worry that it was because it was a bad day.
“I think she’s as okay as she can be.” She shrugged. “I had her laughing, though, so I’m hoping that helped. I know Steve took Dom to get her something to help, maybe it was food?” That wouldn’t be too far off, after all. “Kid does like food, and he was always trying to feed us when we were there.”
Chuckling, Sam nodded. “She has a point.” He agreed. “I woke up once last time we were there to him trying to scale the cupboards for a midnight snack.” He grinned. “We ended up eating cold pizza.”
Bucky just listened to the stories, learning more about his son. Stories that you might have told him, perspectives that you didn’t have. He took a bite of his food, staring at the table. Hopefully none of them got weird now and changed the subject because of him.
“Oh, remember when he was almost two, and he came over and swiped a tiny handful of fries?” Bruce chuckled. “We all thought he was done eating, so she let him out of his high chair. He bee-lined it right to me and grabbed my fries. First time he tried McDonald’s.” He had loved getting to make those memories with you and Dom. He was a breath of fresh air. “And then I lost the rest because he liked them so much.” He added.
“So, that’s probably what it is.” Nat laughed. “JARVIS, Steve and Dom brought her food, didn’t they?” She asked, amused.
“No, miss.” He told them. “However, they are dining together.” He added. “Shall I alert them you are asking for them?”
Wanda and Nat shared a look. “No, thanks, JARVIS.” Wanda giggled at Nat’s facial expression. “Let them enjoy their meal.” She added.
Were you and Steve closer than you let on? Bucky wondered.
You had just gotten Dom to bed, showered, and were drying your hair when there was a knock at your door. You were wearing a sports bra and shorts, but figured it was Nat or Steve, so you simply walked over and answered it. Instead of one of your best friends, you were met with a shocked looking Bucky. “Uh, hi?” You said awkwardly.
“Uh, hi.” He hadn’t been expecting to see you in so little. “I was wondering if we could talk again?” He was trying very hard not to look over your body. “Just a few minutes? Try to push past this awkwardness?” That would honestly be his first hope. To just get to the point where neither wanted to inch away from the other.
Licking your lips, you nodded and let him in. “Uh, lemme go grab a shirt.” You told him as he shut the door quietly.
“Yeah, of course.” He shoved his hands in his pockets. He watched you walk away before looking around your room, wondering what your home had been like. He’d only seen it the once, and it wasn’t like he had a chance to stop and look around then. A moment later, you came back, a baggy shirt on.
“So, what’s up?” You asked, wondering why he wanted to talk again so soon. You’d just talked to him hours ago. “Everything okay?”
He nodded a bit. “Yeah, just, uh, I had a question?” He hoped you didn’t deck him or something. You raised a curious eyebrow at him. “Is...is there possibly something more between you and Steve?” He asked.
This time, both your eyebrows shot up. “Me and….Steve?” You stared at him. “Okay, first of all, did Nat tell you to ask this?” You crossed your arms over your chest.
“Why would Nat tell me to ask?” He wasn’t close to Nat at all anymore. She tolerated him, sure, but friendly? Not so much.
“Something we talked about earlier. And, to answer your question, Steve is one of my best friends. That’s all.” You shrugged. “Nothing more. And it kinda hurts you’d ask me that when I just lost the man I planned to marry.” You said honestly. How else were you supposed to react?
He winced. “Sorry, I really didn’t think that one through, I guess.” He sighed. “I was just curious, that’s all. You guys just seem close. Forget I asked, and chalk it up to me being a dumbass.” He said half jokingly, hoping that didn’t worsen things between you.
Sighing, you figured you could try. “Well, I had something to ask you, too.” You admitted. It was his turn to look curious. “If you can show you want to be a dad...did you want Dom to know you’re his father?” You asked, nervously. It was written on your face that you were scared for his answer. “I don’t want to tell him for you to pull away and decide you still don’t want him. But, if you changed your mind, and you want to be there, I want to give you that chance.” You swallowed.
“You...you want to give me a chance to be his dad after everything I said, and how much I hurt you?” He was shocked. “Really?!”
“As scared as I am, yes. It’s up to you, though. What do you think?” You were trying to hide the fact that you were shaking a bit.

The Winter Soldier/Avengers x reader
You ran as fast as you could along the streets on New York City, you could hear screaming and gunshots all around you.
You knew he wouldn't be far behind you, when it came to Hydra or the Winter Soldier they would kill everyone to get to you.
You found an alleyway and ran down it, hiding behind a trash can as you cried softly, covering your mouth so you wouldn't be too loud.
Suddenly someone grabbed your wrist painful tight and yanked you from your hiding place.
The soldier slammed you against the wall as you cried out in pain, his blade plunged into your abdomen as you screamed.
You cried softly as he stared into your eyes.
He dropped you onto the ground and you fell into a heap, crying in pain before the solider slowly walked away out of the alleyway.
You curled up in the alleyway as you gripped your side and tried to stop the bleeding.
You continued to cry until you saw someone rushing down the alleyway towards you.
"Hey, stay with me. Tony, I've got a wounded hydra agent." He said as you looked up and noticed it was Captain America.
"I can't go back." You whispered as he slowly picked you up, causing you to cry out in pain.
"It's okay, just try to relax and focus on me." He said, walking out of the alleyway.
You were confused why he was being so kind to you even though you were a Hydra agent.
You began to cry even more as you gripped onto his arm.
"I don't want to die... Please." You begged as he looked down at you sadly.
"You won't die, you'll be okay." He said as you rested against his body and closed your eyes.
"The soldier... He won't stop." You muttered, partially rambling from loss of blood.
"You're talking about Bucky, aren't you?" He said as you looked up at him.
"Bucky..." You whispered, only now finding out the winter soldiers real name.
Tony finally caught up with Steve and took you from him.
"Keep her in our infirmary, she knows things about Bucky." Steve said as Tony nodded and flew you back to the tower.
He gave you over to Bruce who restrained you to a bed and got to work making sure you didn't die.
--
When you woke up again, both your arms were restrained to the bed as you groaned, the sedation wearing off.
You looked beside you to see Steve and Tony talking.
When Steve saw you were awake he came over and smiled.
"I'm Steve by the way." He said as you smiled a little.
"I didn't really have a name... It was just Agent Eight. But... I don't know you can come up with a name." You said making him chuckle a little.
"How about Lacy? I watched a movie with a character with that name and she reminds me of you." He said making you laugh softly.
"Lacy is perfect. Why aren't you more hostile towards me? I mean I'm a hydra agent." You muttered, right from the start Steve had been kind and you didn't understand why.
"I don't know... When I saw you, I didn't see a hydra agent. I saw a girl scared to die." He muttered as you nodded a little.
"Well, thank you. I'm sure you have a lot of questions." You said before Tony practically burst through the doors.
"Damn right we do! And you're going to answer them or I'll hurt you!" He said as Steve groaned and rolled his eyes.
"Tony, she's cooperating." Steve said as Tony looked at him and then to you.
"Oh, right. Well, that's good." He said, his demeanour completely changing making you chuckle softly.
"So, what was Hydra's goal tonight? Why did they reveal themselves to everyone and try to kill at random?" Tony asked as you sighed.
"I don't know the full extent, but it was something to do with a show of brutality and power and a distraction for something else... I had it planned for months, that I would escape while all of it was happening. One agent saw me escape and ordered the solider to kill me." You explained as they nodded.
"Did you know Bucky?" He asked as you looked at him sadly.
"Not much... We didn't work together that much, I mainly worked as a medic. But, I knew he was an important part to hydra, I also knew he was one of the hardest to break. Even after all those years he still had memories...they tortured him more than anyone." You replied as Steve looked away for a moment, you knew it would've been hard for him to hear this about his long lost best friend.
"He escaped the agents apparently after he tried to kill you he cut out his chip and went missing." Tony said as you nodded.
"Well, that's good... It gives you guys a good chance to find him." You said as Steve nodded, Tony looked at you in thought.
"I don't get it... You're so normal. I expected you to be cold hearted or at least traumatised." He muttered as you chuckle softly.
"Well... My life has been traumatic since the moment I was born, I guess I just learnt how to act when I needed to. I acted submissive and obedient in Hydra to avoid punishment, and now with you guys I'm acting mature and informative so you can get the answers you need. I've acted like somebody else for so long I'm not sure who I am... But, I think somewhere in there I'm just a scared little girl begging for forgiveness for what I've done." You replied as they both looked at you sadly.
"That's understable. We're here to help you, Shield captured a few other Hydra agents. But, for now we'll keep you here and try our best to make everyone think you're dead." Steve said as you nodded and smiled.
"Thank you..."

One of my favorite head cannons/AU’s in the MCU is that Bucky and Steve are actually immigrants, and the government is trying to cover it up because the want the public to think their Captain America is a “pure bred, beer sippin’, gun lovin’ American”.
And Steve knows they’re trying to cover it up and it annoys him, but he understands people will take him more seriously as Captain America if he acts like he’s from America. Bucky is confused as to why he’s going along with it, because Steve is very proud of his country, but he understands when Steve explains. But still, he thought the Avengers knew.
I mean, it’s completely in character for Tony to go snooping, and Natasha seems, to him, like she’d know everything about you before meeting you. And he just assumed they told the others.
So he was very confused when Tony asked questions about America before he and his mother immigrated, under the guise of research. He thought he was messing around and told him ridiculously untrue statements. Such as “the sky was actually purple” and “if you went to the top of the skyscrapers, God would high five you.” Silly stuff like that.
So when Tony says he should answer truthfully, he says “I don’t know” and looks confused.
“You don’t know?” Tony asks. How do you not know? You lived there, yes?”
“Well, I did. Starting in 1933.” Steve answers truthfully. Tony get’s confused at that, as does Natasha, who was in the room. Bucky was reading “The Great Gatsby” but looks up to watch the three of them talk.
“But you were born in 1918?”
“Yes.”
“In Brooklyn.”
Steve looks at them weirdly.
“No. In Poland.” He answers them and Tony’s mouth drops. Natasha stares at him as if trying to figure out if he was lying.
“But your name’s Steve Rodgers. That’s an American name.” She objects. Steve looks a bit annoyed at remembering that.
“Yes. The stupid register man couldn’t pronounce Mikolaj Lewandowski.” He said in an annoyed tone, which Bucky snickers at. Steve shoots him a glare. “Oh shut up. You got to keep your first name.”
Tony turns to Bucky, now out of his shock. “You’re also from Poland?”
Bucky shakes his head. “No. I’m from Russia. But my boat stopped at a Polish port where Steve and his mother got on.”
“I thought you met in Hells Kitchen. That’s what the museum said.”
And then Steve and Bucky explain how the government is keeping it a secret, and Tony and Natasha love it. Because secretly, Captain America is an immigrant, which they find hilarious.

Promise Me || Bucky x Black Reader
Synopsis: This occurs maybe about a year after the events of Captain America: Civil War. The reader is a black woman and should be imagined as such :) Bucky is 37, and the reader is ideally 32/33.
Very angsty (reader and bucky are getting a divorce). Not edited at the moment. First non-BTS imagine/fic so I'm super nervous. I love Marvel too <3
I didn't think forever for us would end so soon. Four years seemingly going down the drain. Two years of dating, eight months of engagement, and barely a year of marriage. I felt like I was giving up. Quitting. Like I wasn't honoring my vows.
Til death do us part.
But when I took those vows I believed I was giving them to James Buchanan Barnes. Who I lovingly refer to as Bucky. A man a slightly older than me, but didn't look a day over thirty. He was the man that I envisioned as a little girl marrying.
A man who was tall, easy on the eyes, with a look of danger, but a heart of gold. Bucky had the perfect mix of both. A veteran turned firefighter. He risked his life daily, saving those in a life-or-death situation. He was second chances, personified for these people. He was a light of hope in the darkness of succumbing to a burning fate. He was a hero.
A hero.
A hero more in the literal sense than what I could have possibly imagined.
Bucky Barnes wasn't a thirty-seven-year-old man who was technologically challenged. Not a man who liked listening to music artist from the 1930s. He was sophisticated and romantic.
Doll was his favorite name to call me. Initially, I thought he was just trying to hard not to use generic pet names like 'baby' or 'bae'. Or that maybe his fascination with the olden days carried into his pet names for his girlfriends. But now I wish the truth was that easy and simple to understand. It didn't involve decades of high-profile assassinations and the bringing down of governments.
One man could bring down an entire government regime.
And that man, is my husband?
My James?
My Bucky?
The man sitting across from me in this stuffy monochrome conference room. Well the conference room was quite large. It's just the tension was sucking out any air circulation.
When I took my vows to James Barnes, I hadn't realized I said them to this 'Winter Soldier' to. A man wanted by hundreds of countries for international crimes that date back to the Kennedy administration. A man hunted down by the Black Panther for killing the king of the most powerful nation.
No, surely there was a mistake.
But I would be foolish to argue with evidence. Pictures of his stalky figure I curled up to several times at night. Blue eyes were the portals to his true thoughts. Shoulder-length hair I raked my fingers through mindlessly when listening to him recount his twelve-hour shift at the station. His wardrobe wasn't anything special, which explains why he could slip under the radar for so long.
That was him. He was responsible but not at the same time. Fourteen hours after being interrogated by Maria Hill, I better understood the double life Bucky The Winter Soldier had been living. Believed to be dead by the Allies, he was held hostage by Karpov, who brainwashed him and tortured him until he became the Winter Soldier. Breaking his mind, and piecing him back together to become he perfect killing machine in human form.
Helmut Zemo managed to get his hands on the book containing the words that activate the Winter Solider. He awakened the monster and manipulated him into the bombings that killed King T'Chaka. He used the Winter Solider to effectively divide and dissolve the Avengers. Zemo was responsible for taking away the Bucky that I knew. The hero.
"I'm glad you and your client could be civil and agree to our demands." Your lawyer, Jennifer Walters, spoke. You and Bucky's lawyer had been talking for twenty minutes, but you couldn't focus on their legal jargon. You were tuned out, tracing your steps on how you and Bucky were sitting in this office. On the opposite end of the table, staring at each other as if we'd become opponents. No longer players on the same team.
Bucky's eyes dragged across to scan Jennifer's face. In his heart he held no misplaced hatred for the woman. She was a professional doing her job, representing the interest of her client. He didn't spend long reading the lists of things that you wanted from the marriage.
The house was yours, he wouldn't dare try to live in that house if you weren't there. It wasn't good for him to stay in open spaces, for too long it freaked him out.
Most of your demands were reasonable and he put up no fight. He didn't want to fight with you. When he finally got his head on straight, he wanted to explain his disappearance. He wanted to be the first person to tell you about the Soviets and the Winter Soldier Program. He wanted to tell you about the bad things that he's done, but his memory was a jigsaw puzzle with missing pieces. He wasn't sure if you would believe him, until he had all the pieces. When he did come across a piece, he was scared that it would show more harm than he did.
Confirming his belifs that he wasn't worthy of a second chance. That he could find happiness living a solo mundane life. Even with his slow aging, he could blend in his environment and live a good life. He would keep intact what little of his humanity he had left. But after Zemo got his hands on him again that little sliver of his humanity was gone. He was a tool designed for slaughter and destruction. Becoming a firefighter saving people wouldn't undo all the lives he took. Marrying you, the love of his life, wouldn't give him the normalcy he sought. He was reminded of that every time he looked down and saw the metal arm. The brute strength granted him the ability to kill with ease. The same metal arm that would now be a reminder of everything he was getting ready to lose with his wife.
The lawyers summarized the documents, and everything signed up to this point. The deed to the house, papers to change your last name, insurance paperwork, everything was discussed. Bucky even took it upon himself to hand you his 401k from firefighting.
Never had the lawyers seen a divorce proceeding go so smoothly. Usually, they have to clear out the rest of their calendars for divorce calendars. Would today be the day that they get out before the late lunch rush? Oh, let it be true.
Jennifer was smart in her word choice. Avoiding the emotional minefields that the couple has. The room was somber, as you shared your emotional hardships. Dealing with the sudden disappearance of your husband. Preparing for a funeral without a body, dreading adopting the label as a widower. Becoming behind on the mortgage and personal family issues flaring up.
Even though it was emotionally heavy, it was easy to formulate the words. You thought long and hard about what you wanted to say. However, you didn't truly have the words for the physical hardship, which was much more challenging to hide. Your right wrist in a sling. A fracture of the ulna and three smaller bones. The one place Bucky has been fighting with himself not to look.
From an instance of right place, wrong time. It would be your first time revealing the details of your broken wrist out loud. Even when Jennifer asked, you were short with your explanation. But looking at Bucky for probably the last time, you were moved by emotion. Emotions of hurt, frustration, and sorrow.
"I see that you haven't signed the restraining order." You gathered your tone to sound as unemotional and far removed as possible.
"Why?"
"I'm not signing it."
The tension in the room deepens as this is the first time you have directly spoken to Bucky. Your lawyers were doing a lot of the communicating for you.
He didn't want to word vomit his emotions and potentially mispeak. Widening the divide between the two. So he opted to sit in silence, letting his heartbreak in silence. Divorce from the only woman he ever loved was going to take a lifetime to heal. On top of that, a restraining order would send him to an early grave.
"What? I thought you agreed to all of our terms."
"That's why I wanted to talk in person. I cant get myself to agree to this. I can't."
Bucky sat across from you with a plea in his eyes. He didn't want to let go of the connection he spent four years building with you. His heart and mind fought each other for days when he got the divorce paperwork. His heart wanted to fight for the marriage. Fight for the sacred union yall made in front of your friends and family. Fight for the love he knew deep down that you still had for him. But his mind hit him with the harsh truth. You weren't safe around him. Having all these enhanced abilities, having this metal arm could protect you. That it wasn't a curse, but a blessing in disguise.
But that wasn't true. And his brain reminded him of that fact with a mental image of your arm in the sling.
It was before Steve managed to track down Bucky's coordinates to that apartment building. When he was still hiding in plain sight. You just happened to be there. Browsing different vendors, as it was the city was hosting a market.
Bucky was right beside you, you knew his scent from anywhere. And the fact that his head slightly turned in your direction, upon calling him confirmed it.
"Buck is that you?"
You raised a hand to touch his face. "It's me. Remember?" His metal hand gripped yours tightly. His hand clapped down on your wrist, leaving you at the mercy of his strength.
You attempted to snatch your hand back. Eyes swelled with tears, as the pain was escalating. Buck remained silent, as he twisted your wrist, to an almost 180 point.
"STOP IT! JAMES STOP!" Your shriek brought unnecessary attention to him. In a frustrated grunt, he huffed before completing the snap. He walked off into the crowd without looking back at you. Those eyes that were the portals to reading his mind was closed. There was nothing behind those eyes. Even in the presence of his wife, his eyes didn't change. I was a stranger. A stranger that he could very easily hurt with little provocation.
Holding onto your broken wrist you were soon comforted by a stand manager. He got you up on your feet and walked you in the direction of the nearest medical aid.
"Please, Bucky. Let this be a clean break. It's for the best."
"The best for who?" His voice a mixture of frustration and vulnerability. "I've been through a lot. We've been through a lot. I want to fight for us. This restraining order snuffs out any chance of us rekindling this."
"We've changed Bucky. The world has changed. I need a fresh start, and I think you need one too."
"You are my fresh start. Don't you see!?" Bucky couldn't go into much detail. His lawyer was unaware of his assassin's past. He was more skeptical than ever about what details he shared about his personal life. Lawyer, doctor, psychiatrist or not. There could be more Zemo's looking to play puppet master with his mind.
"Think about your safety."
The lawyers attempt to mediate. They could sense that something was being left out of the conversation. Something that was connected to your arm in the sling. You were standing firm in your position to sever any ties to Bucky. This was the best decision for the both of you.
Bucky didn't have to worry about his superhero work trickling into his personal life. Not having to worry if some vengeful villain would come searching for you, and harm you to even out the score with Bucky. It was just another concern that didn't have to cloud his mind.
While you wouldn't have to worry about Bucky not coming back home. Getting the news from SHIELD agents that Bucky had died protecting the world from some global threat. The heartache would be too much.
"This is getting us nowhere. Did you and your client really come here to waste our time?"
"Mr. Barnes is just as entitled to getting all of his demands met.
The lawyers started bickering. The couple with actual grounds of argue sitting in silence. You spoke up first, your raised voice silencing the room.
"I'm not asking you to change who you are. I know you've been through a lot. And it is a lot." You reached your hand out to grasp his. You wanted to convey that your heart was full of love for Bucky. You could see a broken and scared man in front of you. A man with more skeletons in his closet than you would like to imagine. But you loved him. And with that love, you had to make the tough choices for both of you.
"You need space and time to collect yourself. Fight those battles in your mind. Get better and heal."
A singular tear runs down your cheek and hits the wooden table as you continue spilling your heart out.
"I love you. I love all of you, and I forgive you. You were unwell and need true help. As much as I want to remove that pain from you, I know that I can't. My love isn't enough. Sometimes love requires letting go. Let me go. Please."
"Even when I was sick, I still had dreams of you. I couldn't make out your face, but I found myself reliving our dates. The time I took you to the drive-thru movies. You said I made you feel like you were in high school again. Or the time I accidentally used all your leave in conditioner on wash day.
Then I started dreaming of a family with you. Raising mini versions of ourselves away from the chaos my life brought. The woods were our backyard, and we were happy. With you I was happy. I still want to make that dream a reality. I'm willing to give up anything to ensure our future."
You listened to his plea. You could tell he was genuine. He would if he could give up his enhanced abilities to be with you. No doubt about it. However, you knew that Bucky was meant for something greater. When he was a soldier who fought the good fight. He was destined to be a hero. A would-be alongside Captain America, fighting threats the world doesn't know about. Ensuring that we live in a world, where us regular people wouldn't have to.
"I can't be the reason you give that up, Buck." You said gently. "It's a part of who you are. Even when you've made mistakes, I've seen you try to right your wrongs. That's the Bucky I know, the hero."
The room was silent again filled with emotion. Bucky had to come to terms that yall were on different paths. Two paths diverged into a left and right. That even under the premise of love, you were right. Bucky was too vulnerable. It wasn't the first time something like this had happened. The Winter Soldier was an ugly part of him that he had to live with. He has to make room for that identity instead of pretending it never existed.
He would be working with Steve and Sam Wilson on hunting down any of the remaining Winter Soldiers. He was thrusting himself into danger. Danger that he didn't want you to be apart of, danger that he felt responsible to end.
You leaned over to whisper in Jennifer's ears. Maybe the restraining order was too much. You were making a rash decision that you may come to regret in the future. Jennifer following the request of her client, placed the restraining order papers in the shredder.
"My client had a change of mind." She stood up packing up all the signed papers in her briefcase.
"Well all the paperwork is signed, our work is done here."
The divorce meeting came to a close and both parties went their separate ways. There you stood discussing the next steps with Jennifer. Out of the corner of your eye, you saw Bucky alone. He waited at the bottom of the stairs.
Jennifer took her cue to dismiss herself. With your eyes low, you carefully walked down the courthouse steps to stand before Bucky.
"Promise me we will find a way back to each other."
"I can't promise that Bucky. And you shouldn't make promises you can't keep."
"I would keep that promise. I would stake my life on it." He brought your left hand to his chest. Your wedding ring still on your finger. You hadn't thought about when you would take it off.
"Promise me." His lips were a few inches away from yours. Your eyes were conversing in another language of their own. Saying their goodbyes, and final 'I love yous.'
You brought Bucky into your arms. Arms wrapping around his shoulder as you cried silently to yourself. Bucky tightened his arms around you, his warms rubbing circles in your back. A hypnotizing pattern that would put you to sleep. It was settling over the both of you that this could be the last time that you held one another like this.
You let go of the hug first. Your hand on his chiseled face again. This time not worried that he would harm you again.
"I love you." You laid a tender kiss on his lips. Capturing your affection and goodbyes.
"Promise me." Bucky spoke during the kiss. "Promise me Doll."
You placed your thumb over his lip. You looked deep into his eyes. He was hanging onto every word that you said. Bucky's phone rings, breaking the staring contest you had. To no ones surprise, Steve was on the other end. A bitter reminder of the double life that Bucky was apart of.
"I need to hear you say it."
"I promise."
Bucky leaves a passing kiss on your lips before walking away from the courthouse. He picked up the phone, walking with haste. In a few short seconds, a red-headed woman joined him on his side.
My hero.
My Bucky.

Marry Me Three
Sequel to: Marry Me 2 - Boyfriend’s Back (All Right)
Fandom: MCU Captain America/Avengers
Summary: Marriage is stupidly limited. That’s okay– you’ve never found a box that could fit you anyway.
Quick facts: Romance – Steve Rogers/Reader/Bucky Barnes – Female Reader
Warnings: Fluff, marriage talk, a little fade-to-black sexy times
MCU Timeline: Set some nebulous time after CA:TWS
Words: 3170
A/N: At last, the end of the ‘Marry Me’ saga. Please enjoy a bunch of goofballs <3
~
Bucky is brooding.
This isn’t so different from usual, but what is unusual is that none of your distraction tactics are working. The lovey-dovey stuff gets a little kiss before he’s back to stewing in his own head, the funny stuff gets a half-hearted smile before he once again becomes the protagonist of a Russian tragedy, (it is ridiculous that he is not actually Russian, honestly, even Natasha has commented that she feels lacking next to him), and your last-ditch attempts to be annoying get a scowl and some muttered curses before he turns away and does his best gargoyle impression.
Some research is required.
“Is there a reason you’ve started walking around with a notepad and pen and staring at Bucky?” Steve asks, like for all he knows the answer could very well be ‘no.’
“I’m trying to figure out what’s wrong with him,” you say. “So I’m taking notes and observations so I can put them together later.”
“Ah.” He sips his coffee and stares at you. “That explains the new corkboard. No string?”
“I had to order it. They were out of red,” you admit. “It’s coming with the safari hat.”
He stares at you. “Why safari instead of a deerstalker?”
“The safari ones looked nicer and shipped faster,” you say. “If the binoculars weren’t more annoying than they’re worth I’d be using them too. Maybe if I’m annoying enough I can actually get him to talk about his fucking feelings rather than keep shutting me out.”
Steve pulls you into a hug and kisses your head. “I’ll try and talk to him,” he says and rubs your shoulder. As he pulls away, he says, “No smoking pipes.”
You hadn’t been thinking about that since your Sherlock Holmes cosplay abruptly stopped with the lack of nice hats available with fast shipping, but now that he’s said no you can’t resist the siren song of pushing boundaries. “Not even a bubble one?”
Steve shoots you a glare and wanders off.
Well, if Steve succeeds, hopefully you’ll be able to find another use for the safari hat. But until he pulls through you will continue to observe Boyfriendicus Moodicus and hope a solution presents itself.
~
Nothing magically happens to make things better. Bucky’s still sullen, but he’s sullen with a guilty edge when he comes up one day and hugs you from behind. “I’m sorry I’ve been a jerk,” he says and presses a little kiss to your head.
“You’re not a jerk,” you say and put your hands over his as Steve watches with a look of concern himself. The talk didn’t go so well, apparently, but at least someone else is on the lookout now. “But I know you’re upset and I wish you’d tell me why. Or Steve. Or an imaginary friend. Somebody.”
“I, uh…” He nuzzles you, preying on your weakness. Bastard. You hope he keeps it up. “I don’t know how to say it,” he admits. “It’s something in my own head, and I don’t know how to…say it right. So I wanna wait.”
“But you will?” you ask and he nods. “Fine,” you say uncertainly. “If it takes too long though I’m getting a little hand puppet, okay?”
Even the thought makes him look annoyed, which is exactly what you were hoping for. They know better than to test you on your most ridiculous ideas, and you make a few open and shut motions with your hand to drive the point home. But something about how Bucky looks at your hand catches your attention. There’s a brief burst of longing and what is he even looking a–
Oh.
Oh!
The ring.
~
Over the next week you take your Bucky Studies very seriously. He said he can’t verbalize it and you believe that– Steve has his moments but Bucky has an especially hard time talking about what he wants and what he feels, (and when you think about the why you end up clinging to him like a koala which is not ideal for observation but is great for very distracting kisses), so you don’t try to push him. The safari hat goes mostly unused, alas, but you do pick up on a few things:
A) Bucky doesn’t just give sad longing looks at your ring, but at Steve’s too;
B) If you and Steve are already fooling around, Bucky is a lot more hesitant about joining in than he was when you all started your, ahem, group activities;
C) A and B are very often paired together– and while A can happen during even just the mundanity of the day, B will always have that look of envy;
and A point 2 C B or whatever) The envious look at your rings is almost always followed by a flash of annoyance. And not at you– you’ve gotten very, very good at reading your partners’ looks of annoyance, (you even have a handy card catalogue you reference sometimes to make them very annoyed at you), but seemingly at himself.
It’s sort of remarkable that you can see all this, because while you’re more observant than people sometimes give you credit for, it’s still something special to be able to observe Bucky without having him call you on it once or twice. It’s nice that he’s so comfortable around you. But it’s not nice that this issue– whatever he can’t verbalize– is eating him away so much that he lets it show for all and sundry.
Still, now you have some data. It’s time to try and formulate some solutions.
~
“Hey Bucky?”
“Yeah doll?”
“Would it make you feel better if Steve and I got divorced?”
Bucky chokes on his drink. Steve, to his credit, merely stops cutting his food and looks up at you past slightly raised brows. You think it’s nice that he understands what you meant. Or maybe he doesn’t understand and he’s just used to your nonsense. If you’re being honest, it’s probably more the latter, but it’s still nice to have your general person so well understood that Steve can hear that and not worry.
“Wh-…” Bucky pauses to take another drink that actually makes it down his throat. “Sweetheart, why would I want that?”
“It’s just a thought,” you say. “Because Steve and I love each other whether we’re together in the eyes of the law or not. Just like we love you.” You have to hurry up when he opens his mouth. “And I know you know we don’t love you any less, but knowing and feeling are two different things and we all have doubts.”
“I don’t doubt,” Bucky says quickly. “But…you’re sort of right. It’s just something I have to deal with.” He takes your hand and tugs you in for a little hug that you both have to lean out of your chairs for. “I don’t want you and Steve to get divorced. I like that you two are married. Also, it’d be a huge pain in the ass and pro’ly wouldn’t do much.”
“Okay.” You kiss his head and lean back. Back to the drawing board. Luckily the drawing board still has some sketches on it. “It’s okay Bucky, I’ve got another idea.”
Both Bucky and Steve are suddenly distracted by ringing phones. You sigh but pull yourself together as they jump up. While they get ready, you shove their dinners into containers so they can at least have a little something on their way to save the world.
“I know it sounded bad, but you get what I meant, right?” you ask Steve in between kissing him goodbye. Multiple times, of course.
“I know. And I agree.” He smiles and kisses you one more time before letting Bucky in.
You make sure to give Bucky just as much physical love as you did Steve, but he’s looking at you cautiously. Still, he kisses you, and says, “Don’t do anything before we get home and talk about your ‘idea,’ okay?”
“Have a lovely day at work; be safe!” you say cheerfully. Bucky is about to open his mouth but you are, strangely, saved by yet more ringing from his phone, and the sounds of tires screeching outside. He rolls his eyes and runs out with Steve, not even pausing when he mouths, ‘We’ll talk later.’
You shut the door and turn back to your empty home. You allow yourself a moment of self-pity before you make a fist and hit it to your palm. This is actually perfect– an opportunity to put your plan into action without any super-significant-other meddling. You are going to get right to it–
–your stomach grumbles–
–after dinner.
~
They come back in two days, so it’s a good thing you decided not to procrastinate on your Secret Plan. The mission was quick and neither of them are injured, but they are obviously exhausted, so you cajole them into taking a nap. Steve is tired enough he does as he’s told, dragging a slightly more suspicious Bucky with him. But Bucky is just as tired, so you blow them both a kiss and, once the door is shut and you hear no more moving, you rush to your little box of supplies and start setting everything up.
When they come out for dinner the candles are all set, the food is almost ready, and your two super soldiers take a moment to fully wake up from their nap and appreciate the nice romantic table you’ve put together.
Steve clears his throat and leans in to straighten one of the candles that had tilted maybe a little worryingly to the side. “Oh, oops; good catch,” you say and put down their two plates. “Steve, come be helpful and grab the wine glasses.”
“Really going all out to welcome us home,” Bucky says, eyeing you suspiciously.
“Yeah sure, that’s what it is,” you say, smiling too hard to sell it, and you all but drag Steve into the kitchen where you promptly shove a little box into his hand, and mouth, ‘Wait.’
His eyes light up, but he grins too and nods, and takes the wine glasses and the bottle out to the table while you grab the last plate and go to take your seat. Bucky looks even more suspicious, definitely not helped by how Steve is the absolute worst at keeping a straight face, but you ignore your husband in favor of the modest but still delicious meal you made. “You’re probably starving.”
“Sweetheart,” Bucky says warily, not even attempting to grab his fork. “Don’t take this the wrong way but– what are you up to?”
You don’t answer, and instead take a bite. In all honestly though it’s hard to focus on the food– you’re very excited for this, and when Bucky keeps staring at you, you think…fuck it. It’s time to put him at ease, one way or another.
So you stand up, walk over to him, get down on one knee, pull out the box, and open it. “Bucky,” you say. “We can’t get married before God and law but…fuck ‘em. I love you just as much as I love Steve and if this is only legit to us then that’s all that matters. So, James Buchanan Barnes, second love of my life but not the secondary love of my life, will you marry me according to the law of this house– coincidentally my law– and be my top-secret husband?”
Bucky considers you with a serious face that looks close to cracking. “Will you promise to unassign “Secret Agent Man” as my theme song?”
“Absolutely not,” you say. “But when I sing it the lyrics will be changed to reflect your new status as ‘secret husband man.’”
Steve breaks, laughing and leaning on the table for support. Bucky even cracks a smile, but you try to stay neutral, to let him know you’re (mostly) serious. His eyes soften like he knows. Of course he knows– he knows you just like Steve does, by now. “Well how can I resist an offer like that?” he asks and holds out his hand for you to put on the ring.
You try to take your time, so that Steve can get over his sudden burst of amusement, but he’s still chuckling when you take your seat again. You take your wine glass and give Bucky a sympathetic look. “I wish I could tell you Steve’s proposal to me was more romantic, but it really wasn’t.”
Steve stops laughing then. “Hey…you aren’t seriously going to tell that story to everyone are you?”
You take a moment to consider. “Well, I guess orgasms can be romantic.”
Steve hides his head and Bucky laughs loudly. “Stevie you fucking cheat,” Bucky says with a wide grin and admiration in his voice.
“That wasn’t the real proposal!” Steve insists. “The real proposal was the next morning. That was…”
“Steve being unable to keep a secret to save his life,” you supplement. Steve opens his mouth and you wave him silent. “Yeah, yeah; you can work on Bucky’s proposal later. For now, eat. I worked hard on this.”
“I’ll take the orgasm proposal,” Bucky says but takes his own utensils in hand. “Is that a special I can order?”
Steve mutters under his breath and attacks his meal like it’s going to run away. You roll your eyes but get to your food. “Dinner first, then honeymoon.” You take a bite and chew for a few seconds before you swallow and add. “And then cake.”
“The only surprise about this, is that cake is coming last,” Bucky says in amusement and follows suit.
There are so many responses to that. You, a true Hero, refrain in order to at least get through dinner and to the fun stuff without your husband and husband-to-be chucking you out of a window.
~
You get chucked onto the bed, which is way more fun and makes you laugh as Bucky grins and crawls over you in a way that should be slightly terrifying but is honestly just fucking hot, so that when he’s close enough you grab him by the shirt collar and drag him in for a kiss.
“That never gets old,” Steve murmurs, his mouth quirked in amusement as he settles in next to both of you, but his eyes are intense as he, seemingly content, watches for now. As you break for air, Bucky takes the opportunity to grab the back of Steve’s head and move in for a kiss just as hungry as the one he just gave you.
“It really, really doesn’t,” you say and lick your lips. Bucky’s attention is drawing back to you, as is Steve’s. You pull the shoulder of your shirt aside to show your bra strap and wink at Steve. His eyes go pleasantly wide.
“So we’re really doing the honeymoon, huh?” he asks, a full grin spreading across his face. Bucky looks confused, but intrigued.
“The dress is in no shape to participate, but the rest of it is fine,” you say.
“What’s this?” Bucky asks as you sit up and wrap your arms around him. Mostly to stay up– your core strength is nonexistent.
“Go on Bucky,” Steve says, laying on his side and unbuttoning his pants with one hand. “Make your wife more comfortable.”
Bucky’s eyes shine so bright looking at you that you elect to watch his hands as he starts pulling your shirt up, alternately grazing and dragging his fingers across your skin. “Don’t worry,” you say, lips turned into an expression that feels appropriately devilish. “Your husband won’t keep his hands to himself for long.”
True to form, Steve doesn’t, and soon the three of you are a tangle of limbs and love.
~
When all is said and done, you’re all in a contented pile.
Except there's one thing missing. You clear your throat. Bucky looks, but Steve doesn’t. You clear your throat again, and this time Steve lifts his head.
“Aren't you forgetting something?” you say and look at Bucky’s one-ring hand and at Steve and at the hand and at Steve and at the hand and at–
“Yeah, what the hell; I thought this was a two-spouse minimum household,” Bucky says. “How am I gonna meet my quota if you hold back on me, Rogers?”
Steve rolls his eyes and flops his hand back on the nightstand which, to you, looks suspiciously empty. “Are you sure, Buck? She’s like a five-in-one special.”
“Nice try,” Bucky says and watches Steve fumble uselessly for a nice ring that isn’t there. “I’ve been putting up with you too long to let you get outta making an honest man of me.”
Steve turns to look and sees the ring isn’t there. You glare at him but he puts his finger up while the loading widget in his brain circles– and then he digs around under his pillow. Bucky waits. You wait. Steve then pulls up his pillows and shoves his arm down the crack between the headboard and the mattress. Bucky shakes with quiet laughter and you gape. “I swear to God if you break my ring, Steven Grant Rogers…”
“The only way it’s getting broken is if it came out of a box of Cracker-Jacks,” he mutters and fishes for it.
“I thought of that but the only Cracker-Jacks I could find had stickers,” you say, not intending to admit to the five different stores you went to and examined thoroughly. You wouldn’t say you’re banned from any of them, but maybe it’s best not to go back to that Wegman’s anymore. At least, not during the night manager’s shift.
Steve stops and looks at you. “Seriously?”
“I thought it would be cute!” You cock your head at him. “Also how long have you known me that you’re still asking that?”
He grins and leans over to give you a kiss– and then props himself up on one arm as he gives Bucky a sweet smile, holding up the (slightly dusty) box. “Hey jerk.”
Bucky snorts. “Hey punk.”
Steve breaks out the soulful eyes and opens the box. “Marry me?”
You snicker to yourself and Bucky sighs as though put upon, but he holds out his hand and Steve slides the ring on. Right on top of yours. “Knew I was stuck with you when you tried to shove me and ended up right on your ass,” he says and kisses Steve. “Yes.”
~
The next morning you put down the silverware, stick Cracker-Jack stickers on their cheeks, and you all go on in your lives– as husband, husband, and wife.
~The End~
~Omake~
“Wait.” Bucky looks at the rings, then at you. “How did you get my measurements?”
You smile sweetly.
Steve stares at you, and sighs. “Did you have Natasha break in again?”
“No.” They stare at you. “Really!” More staring. “…Maybe.” They glare at you. “It’s Russian Spy Enrichment!” You throw up your hands. “God forbid I help out my friends.”
Both of them groan. It’s okay– as far as you’re concerned, they’re stuck with you.
~ The End (for real!)~

Cap-Ironman Rec Week - Take A Chance On Me Sunday
I’m a firm believer that good writing and a long enough wordcount can sell me on anything... which is why this list was hard, because I read coffee shop and Hogwarts AUs to major character death, twice over. But I think we’ve come up with some fun stuff to rec nonetheless - Same old story. by orphan_account “We’re toasting our regrets,” Tony explains. “Your turn." “Oh,” Steve says. It takes him a long minute to think of something. Or, more likely, it takes him a long moment to work up the courage. But then he turns and raises his bottle to Tony. Looks him dead in the eyes, a sad, sort of wistful smile on his face, and says, “You.” Notes: On a list of era preferences, post-Endgame is usually not super high for me, and this fic is the Most Endgame. It’s compliant with Steve’s ending Endgame. And yet I enjoyed it so very much because it gave me a SteveTony ending without necessarily going back on their past loves and choices, it talks to regret without actually rewriting it, and I very, very much recommend it. such a devotion of the heart by drunkonwriting Persuasion AU. Tony is a disillusioned heir on the outs with his wealthy, spend-thrift father, trying to finish his master's degree so he can work on engineering instead of joining the House of Lords. When he has to return home to prepare his family house to be rented, he doesn’t expect the new tenants to be Bucky Barnes and his new wife - old friends of Tony’s spurned ex-fiancé, Captain Steve Rogers. Tony, still heart-broken over their falling out, has no intention of meeting Captain Rogers again if he can help it. Captain Rogers has other plans. Notes: I don’t always click on WIPs, which is mighty hypocritical of me, and Persuasion is... mumbles someofmyleastfavouriteAusten. This fic, however, does address some of the things I don’t always enjoy about the original plot, and the liveliness and detail in the writing and characterisation is more than worth it not being complete yet... so go and shower it with love! how much i’ve been touching you by isozyme Steve loves Tony, but not enough to listen about the SRA. He loves Sharon, but not enough to stop coming to Tony late at night. Notes: Oh boy. Infidelity is one of those very, very few tags I avoid, but I’ve loved all of this author’s other work, so gave this one a shot. It’s brutal, ugly and unpleasant, which is exactly the way I’m supposed to feel, and so very, very well done. The excellent prose - Rain sluices down Tony’s floor-to-ceiling windows. Every so often the wind shifts, and the downpour slams into the glass mid-fall like an open-handed slap. - accentuates every emotion the reader is meant to feel, so if you’re in the right mood for it, this is a highly impactful read. Childhood is the Kingdom Where Nobody Dies by MemoryDragon Seven-year-old Tony Stark wakes up on a Hydra base, lost, afraid, and alone. He has to overcome his fears before it's too late for the Avengers and Captain America. Notes: Character de-aging is something that can be hit-or-miss for me, but this one is a classic. By the very nature of the premise and how much time Tony spends as a seven year old, it’s more pre-slash though Steve/Tony is tagged, but watching Steve and the Avengers match their expectations of who they think Tony is versus who they see in his younger self, makes for quite the satisfying read. The Time of the Season by WhenasInSilks Iron Man shuffles his feet and clears his throat in a burst of static. “If you ever need to talk, I’m here. Doesn’t matter the reason.” For one wild moment Steve actually considers it. Surely if he can tell anyone, it’s Iron Man? Iron Man would never shrink away, would never laugh at him. But what could he possibly say? Actually, Shellhead, I just pulled myself off three times in the past hour and I was thinking about your boss the entire time. Actually, Shellhead, I’m a science experiment they let out of the lab too soon and I think I might be going out of my mind. Notes: This is another one of those WIPs that is completely worth the read and subscribe, because identity porn oh myy :D The author takes the secret identities of Tony Stark and Iron Man and pushes them to the farthest extremes, till it’s incredibly entertaining and somewhat disconcerting and the amount of sheer pining that exists in one room is surely enough to kill us all of delight. A Fool's Name For Fate by elise_509 It’s 1949. Hollywood’s system of powerful studios and contract stars is fading fast as a new decade looms. Tony Stark thinks he’s just the type of forward-thinking, madcap genius that can solve the dream factory’s woes, and maybe he can. If not for a certain distraction named Steve Rogers, the golden boy who should clearly be twenty-feet high on the silver screen yet seems determined to stay hidden behind the scenes. Tony’s used to getting what he wants, but now he’s not sure what that is. Or rather, who that is. Notes: More WIPs that deserve love! The premise is so captivating, and the writing even more so. I love the period it’s set in, I love how Tony and Steve fit into it and the roles they play, as well as the way they play off each other, and the sheer pleasure I got from the 70k words I gobbled down is definitely worth holding out for an ending. And that’s all for today. Go take a chance on reading something you normally wouldn’t!

...in the details, Part 13
A/N: Warning for this series: 18+ audience (minors DNI), some cinematic level violence, some fluff and angst. Doubt that smut will be involved, but it may be implied. I’ll make sure that is noted clearly if it pops up.
All relationships, at this point in the story, are platonic, but there is romance in the cards for Kari and Bucky.
Please do not repost or translate my work. Likes, comments and reblogs are greatly appreciated.
Taglist is open! Please send an ask, and I will gladly add you to the list. If I have added you and you do not wish to be on the list, please let me know, and I’ll take you off the list.
Word count: 5.3k, give or take a word. Not beta read. All mistakes are my own.
Masterlist
It was the morning after the final battle with the Flag Smashers, and all you wanted to do was sleep and not talk to anyone, but here you were, in your kitchen, frosting cupcakes.
Sarah Wilson had been on the phone with you earlier talking about the party she was organizing to celebrate Sam’s accepting the mantle of Captain America, and while you were not planning to actually go to the party, you decided to drop off some cupcakes for the event. And maybe that cake Sam and Bucky drooled over when they last visited your bakery. The one with the Oreo cookies all over the top.
You were not about to tell Sarah that you had gotten your clock cleaned during that fight last night. Oh no. Never admit stuff like that, even if your body was still a long way from being fully healed.
“Why do I do this to myself, Hickory?” you asked your cat as he sat on the floor near the kitchen window, the streams of light from this early Brooklyn morning splashing their sunny glow over his orange fur. “I really am a pushover. But her boys were so sweet, and I couldn’t let them not have good desserts for the party, could I?”
Hickory was a cat of many words most of the time, so his tiny mewls this morning seemed a bit off. He must have been as exhausted as you felt at the moment.
“I’ll be fine, Hickenboogie,” you said as you watched the orange tabby roll over to let the sun warm his belly. “Even if I’m making, what? A hundred cupcakes?”
As you went to set your bowl of frosting to the side, there was loud rapping at your apartment door. Someone had gotten into the building without being buzzed in. Fantastic! Just what you needed.
“Kari? Are you in there? Sarah called and asked me to check on you.”
Bucky. For crying out loud, what was he doing here? You really doubted Sarah asked him to do anything. He was likely just being nosy after last night.
“James, would you just leave me alone! I am not going to Delacroix. Just go down and have a good time. Sarah knows I’m not going to be there. I’d only be a fifth wheel anyway. I saw you flirting with her. She seems like a really nice person, and even if Sam kicks up a fuss, I think you should go for it.”
You never called Bucky by his first name. Ever. OK, maybe once in 1943. And here he was, standing outside the front door of your apartment, suddenly developing the ability to get under your skin.
“I flirt with everybody. Just ask Sam!” Bucky said a bit too loudly for your liking. The funny thing was, you remembered when Bucky flirted with everybody. That was not what he was doing now. He was trying to see if he still knew how to flirt with everyone. Very different concept, and you fully understood why he needed to be able to do it on his own terms. You also wished he were flirting with you, but you really had no one to blame for this mess except yourself.
“What exactly are you afraid of this time? I’m sure Bruce and Wong can live without seeing you for another 24 hours, or was Darcy bugging you again? You do not need to go out on some speed dating thing with her. She means well, but, you know, she doesn’t really understand how big it is for both of us,” he explained as you heard him fidgeting with the door handle. Master assassin and lock picker? Of course he’d have that skill set, but he seemed to be nothing more than antsy at the moment. Then he hit you with the question you didn’t want to hear.
“Was it what happened after Sam’s speech?”
“You mean when Walker decided to be my new best buddy and make sure I was OK?” you replied in a very fake chipper tone. “Or when you decided to start asking too many questions about my health? You don’t want me in your head. Fine. I get it. I don’t need you babysitting me. I just get tired sometimes. Especially if my empathic filtering goes off the charts. The kids in that tour bus were terrified. I drank in a lot of their pain to keep them calm. It isn’t exactly fun, Buck. And I left myself open. I am only human. I do make mistakes.”
While you did your best not to think about what happened, your mind raced as you remembered the group of grade schoolers from Cottonwood, Arizona, all scared beyond words as Flag Smashers boarded their bus. Those poor kids witnessed their driver being tossed out the door and one of their teachers being knocked out before you could even get into the bus. You had to pull out all the stops to keep them calm, even if it meant you falling apart by the end of the night.
“Can I at least come in? Your neighbors might not appreciate me playing 20 Questions outside your do…”
You flicked your hand and opened the door just as Bucky leaned into it a tad. He wasn’t expecting it, so he stumbled slightly as it opened. “Sorry. I’m kind of busy making cupcakes. I’ll get them to Sarah by tomorrow morning. And that cake you and Sam liked. The Oreo cookie one. I thought Cass and AJ might enjoy it, too.”
“You are dodging. Again,” Bucky said as he sat down on a stool near your kitchen counter. “Whoa, sorry, Hickory,” he added as the orange tabby looked up at him but then went back to sleep. “What are you trying to avoid now?”
“Buck, please. You haven’t wanted to share every memory you have, and for good reason. Some of the things that happened since we started working together, they remind me a bit too much of when my husbands died. I don’t exactly want to relive all that.”
That was only a fraction of what was going on in your life at the moment, but you were not about to drop that ton of bricks in Bucky’s lap, even if it meant you had to keep up some stupid façade and lie as if your life depended on it.
“You had two, right? Husbands,” Bucky asked as you nodded. “Can I help frost or something?”
“Yes, Galen and Thomas,” you said as you put a tray of cupcakes in front of Bucky and got him a bowl of frosting, a spatula and a knife. “Pick your instrument of choice for the frosting,” you added before you looked at Bucky’s clothes and shook your head. “Want an apron? Don’t want you messing up your Henley.”
“What does it say? The apron, I mean?” he asked as you grabbed him a plain blue one. “Oh. No jokes on it?”
“Not everything is a joke, Buck. Not for me. Not for anyone,” you sniffed as you tried to hold back a stray tear before you got another pan of cupcakes and a bowl of frosting. You were still not fully pain free from what happened to those kids or to yourself. “Once the frosting sets, we can put these little shields on top of the cupcakes. I know. Cheesy. But the kids should love them.”
“Hmmm…” Bucky said as he tried to slather the frosting on his first cupcake without using too much. “I’m not exactly good at this…”
“You will be fine. It takes practice,” you whispered as you set down another frosted cupcake. “Thanks for helping. What else do you want to know about me?” Your hands shook slightly, and you flexed them a bit to get yourself centered again. “Lingering issues after that mess on the bus. I couldn’t go in sword swinging, so I had to take a different tack. It was a spell Wong told me about. Got the kids off the bus and me onto it just in time to take out that fool. It switches people’s locations. Nice one to keep in my back pocket. Just wish I had seen that other lunatic behind the driver’s seat.”
“Yeah, I saw the kids appear on the sidewalk before you blasted that guy out the doors of the bus,” Bucky noted as he kept frosting more cupcakes. “Kids. Did you ever have them? I mean, you like them. You get along great with Cass and AJ. And again, sorry if I got stupid on the docks. Joke fell really flat.”
You were not about to go back to the talk about that mess on the docks. Not today anyway. “Sadly, no. I’ve never had children.”
That wasn’t true. Not exactly anyway. But there was no way you could explain everything without looking like a lunatic. Saying “Well, a part of me that lives in another universe has about five of them last time I counted. I can list them all from all the timelines. I was tasked with birthing an army. No one ever said how…”
Yeah, that sounded so very sane and normal.
“Not that I don’t want them still,” you continued as you found some patriotic sprinkles in your cupboard. “It just never worked out for me. And I didn’t want to adopt a child on my own just to have me die and leave them alone. That would be cruel. And what agency would let someone like me adopt a child? It just isn’t very realistic to think it is even possible.”
You wanted nothing more than to change the topic, but you said Bucky could ask you questions, so in this quagmire you would stay for the moment.
“That day Steve and Sam had me in that vice,” Bucky started but stopped just as he finished another cupcake. “Why the hell did you do what you did to prove who you were? I knew who you were. Steve knew. You didn’t need to sing that song…”
“I needed to prove who I was because, let’s face it, who in their right mind—besides you and Steve, I guess—would believe my story? And Sam. Bless his heart, he doesn’t think I escaped Bellevue.” Bucky chuckled at the name of the most famous psychiatric hospital in New York City. “Was my singing that bad? I did flub some of the words, I know, but I didn’t think I was that bad.”
“Your singing was never an issue,” Bucky chuckled as a bit of frosting slid off one cupcake. “And the way you did that thing with the drinks was great. I remember that from the Whip and Fiddle. But you didn’t need to put on a show. Not for us anyway.”
“It’s always an issue, Bucky,” you said quietly as you noticed the vanilla frosting you had been using was running low, so you got out the ingredients to make more. “I always need to prove myself. I…did Steve ever tell you about what happened during the five years you were gone? Not my most shining hours.”
“The thing that scared everyone? Yeah, he told me, but I didn’t want to broadcast it to anyone. I don’t understand what makes you you,” Bucky said as he set down his knife and cupcake, “and I was not about to dredge up what happened. You were trying to get us back. Steve said you kind of lost it when it didn’t work. And Tony…”
“Tony wanted to lock me away in a padded cell, but Thor told him to stop, because he understood my grief. And Bruce told Tony to give it a rest because I was trying things that none of them could. Steve took me to the infirmary so I could heal when it all came crashing down. I was weaker than I realized. He saved my life. IV fluids can work wonders when you push yourself too much.”
“Wait, what? What did you do?” Bucky was suddenly very agitated, and you were not fully focused on his tone and body language at first. He was truly freaked out.
“What?” you asked as your eyes bugged out a little bit when it finally hit you. “Oh! No. I wasn’t doing…”
It took you much too long to realize Bucky was worried you had done some odd, old and draining blood spell. You had done them long, long ago, but that was back before electricity was the norm.
“It was a very old spell, one my Mamo used when I was a baby when she wanted to talk to the deceased members of our clan. Sorry. My grandmother. Mamo is the Irish word for grandma. It just takes a toll on your spirit, and I tried it a few times before Bruce saw me naked as a jay bird in the gardens they had at the facility. Yeah, that is part of the spell too, as is doing it on Samhain. Halloween. But there was no one there to talk to, so continuing to do it made it worse. As I said, not my finest hour. It broke me when I couldn’t find your spirit…”
Now it was Bucky’s turn to look at you with saucer-like eyes.
“Well, I couldn’t try to zero in on a million different people, so I picked you. I tried Sam, too, but it was like you guys never existed. If I were to do the spell this year, I’d be able to see any number of people across the veil. My family. Your family. Natasha and Tony. Loki. That night? I saw no one except my siblings, and while I love them, I knew they would be there. That failure sent me reeling. I didn’t talk for days. And we both know that could not be normal.”
“For two minutes, could you please stop with the put downs? Some of us don’t like to hear them. Me. Sam. Sarah. The boys…”
“I am so used to people just working around them that I don’t…” you started to say before you set down everything and just pulled up a stool next to the one Bucky was sitting on. “I don’t realize how it affects everyone else. Sorry.”
Bucky started to chuckle, and then he let out a loud laugh. “Your hair. Frosting,” he said as he pointed to a few wisps that were now very sticky from the vanilla frosting making a few spikes on the tips.
“Didn’t catch it all in the hairband. Again,” you muttered as you started to laugh along with Bucky. “Why did you really show up today, Buck? It can’t be because your inner baker was screaming to come out and play.”
“Last night was scary. You zoned out, and that scared me and Sam. We thought you were dying. We have no idea how this all works with you, and I’ve been afraid to ask. Steve was, too, I guess, and Sam, when you guys were in hiding.”
“Why are you remembering all this nonsense about me?” That was the only thing you could say as you looked Bucky in the eye and prayed something from your past was not trying to catch up with you again. “Or better yet worrying so much about me?”
“And why do you remember things about me?” he asked with an equally deadpan expression. “We are both old. We’re both likely going to outlive most of the people around us now, at least for a little while. Being connected is…nice. Now, back to last night. What happened?”
“After I helped those kids, I did exactly what you said. I zoned when I cracked my head on that building. I can go into a fugue state and start connecting in weird ways to the world around me. I knew you were there, but my brain wasn’t connecting all the dots. If that makes sense.”
That last part you hated. You wanted nothing more than to tell Bucky everything about your life. How the person he saw was only a tiny part of everything you were. That at this very moment there was another Kari dancing with another Bucky at something called the Hellfire Gala in a world where a group called The X-Men were protectors alongside The Avengers. She was thanking him for an assist a very long time ago on the steps of the Winter Palace in St. Petersburg, if killing her was truly an assist. Yes, that Kari was reborn thanks to the bladed excellence of The Winter Soldier, but this part of Kari could not tell Bucky all that. Not yet anyway.
“Do you want some coffee? A beer? I should have asked when you got here,” you said as you looked down to see Hickory had finally decided to get up and go eat his kibble while you chatted with Bucky.
“Beer, thanks. I just wanted to convince you to come down to Delacroix, mostly so everyone can see for themselves that you are OK. I know once Wong and Bruce get involved, it may take weeks until we see you again. And Parker. That trip of his for school.”
“Look, Sarge,” you started to say as you handed Bucky the beer. His eyes lit up, so the nickname seemed to be a good choice. “If it will make you feel better, then down to Delacroix I’ll go. But you and I can go together. I am going to need help hauling these cupcakes. But I may not stay the whole time. Does that work for you?”
“Yup,” Bucky said as he drank his beer. “And the Sarah thing…”
“Look, if you and Sarah hit it off, well, that is beautiful. You deserve happiness, Buck. I am not going to stand in the way of your happiness. Ever.”
{{Even if it would make me happier being with you}} you thought as you smiled at Bucky again.
“And yes, I know Sam is likely sticking his oar into the water and messing it up for you guys. Having eight brothers taught me a lot, and I am betting you might have played the part yourself back in the day, right? Maybe I can help there, if you need me to? Your call.”
“Whatever happens, well, happens,” Bucky noted as he looked at the tray of tiny shields again. “I think we all want the day to be about Sam. That’s what really matters.”
“Agreed,” you said as you looked at all the cupcakes and smiled. “Now, want to learn how to make that cake? Care to smash up some cookies for me to mix in the batter?”
The rest of the baking session with Bucky went well enough, and you were able to box everything and have it ready to portal to Delacroix the next morning when he made it back to your place. You made sure your portal was near the house but around the back so no one could get spooked by it. You just wished the rest of the team could have been there, but there was technically no team at the moment anyway.
You smiled as you watched Bucky run over to the table where Sam, Sarah and the boys were sitting, with Cass and AJ trying to get Bucky into some sort of play fight as he brought over the cake.
“So, this is the famous cake?” Sarah asked as you pulled a small red wagon full of cupcakes behind you. “Sam has talked about this cake for weeks. Thanks for making it.”
“Hey, anything for our new Cap and his family!” you replied as a group of kids came over to check out the wagon’s load of goodies. “There are plenty of these to go around, but I think you guys better eat your lunches first.”
“Are you going to show us any magic?” Cass asked as you sat down at the table with everyone.
“Guys, what did we talk about?” Sam said as you looked at everyone there and realized this was not going to be a simple picnic event for Sam.
“We can talk about that later. Maybe when everyone else heads home,” you said quietly as you looked at the boys and then Sarah. “And only if your Mom is OK with it. Her house. Her rules. Always.”
You really had not been planning on any sort of show today, but letting Sarah have the final call was likely the easiest way to keep this sort of thing away from prying eyes. Not everyone liked magic, and that was no exception for this part of Louisiana. The preternatural might have been more accepted here, but it was still not a thing everyone loved or fully understood.
The conversation, thankfully, turned to much more mundane things, and you were very happy it did when you saw Bucky and Sarah chatting as the boys and their friends tried to hang off Bucky’s arm. It looked right. He looked stress-free and happy for the first time in ages.
“And is that what you were hoping for?” Sam asked as he, too, watched his nephews hanging off Bucky’s arm. “That cyborg and my sister would hit it off? I thought you two were, you know, getting closer? Beer?”
You looked at the bottle in Sam’s hand. Crimson Voodoo. A local favorite indeed.
“Thanks,” you said as you took the bottle from his hand and tried to convince yourself and Sam that this is what you wanted. “Sam, Bucky deserves a family. He deserves peace and happiness. Your sister deserves someone who thinks the world of her and can take care of her and the boys. It’s a win-win. My life is too messed up for anyone to feel at peace with me. Someday I’ll try to explain everything, but today is not that day. Today is your day.”
As it started to get dark outside, no one seemed to be heading home, and the kids were a bit upset that there were no fireworks set up to cap off the night.
“Guess I need to take care of this,” you said under your breath as you got to your feet and walked toward Sarah and the boys. “Sarah, I can fix this, but as I said before, your house, your rules.”
“You have fireworks in your bag?” Sarah chuckled as she shook her head. “Wait. You aren’t kidding.”
“Nope, I’m not,” you replied as you walked to the end of the pier where the kids were all looking pretty forlorn. “Sam, a gift for you and your family and friends here today,” you said as you turned to look at everyone there. Sparks started to dance on your fingertips, and soon the night sky filled with magically-created fireworks. “A gift from the Tara Mount and from Asgard,” you added as more pyrotechnics danced above the crowd. “Frigga and Loki showed me this trick long ago. It’s only fitting to share it tonight.”
“What the hell is that on your back?” Sarah asked as you slowly lifted off the ground.
“I forgot you’ve never seen these,” you said to Sarah as your raven wings unfurled. “I need to get a bit of lift before I do the next part.”
Sure, Sam and Bucky had seen you fly. But the dance you were about to do was not anything you had done since, well, the day your cousin Rhys got married to his beautiful bride Alice back in the 1850s! Oh, that was a bit of craic! Well, it would have been more fun if Rhys’ sister Rhiannon had not fed that dragon wedding cake and Champagne on top of Westminster.
“I usually don’t do this for anyone but family, but if you all are Captain America’s extended family, then that is good enough for me,” you said as your wings slowly transformed to something akin to gossamer and glitter, the light of the fireworks dancing off the delicate lacework of the fairy wings you now sported on your back. “My grandmother, Siofra O’Cathain MacOrish, was called the Black Faerie of the battlefield. Tonight I wear these wings to thank her for making it possible to be here with you today.”
As you hovered in mid-air, you started to dart over the water, well clear of the shore and the boats anchored there. The sky lit up with a multicolored display that at times looked like ribbons of red, white and blue and at others like the giant bursts of color in the event that Macy’s held each July 4th on the East or Hudson Rivers in New York City. The shrieks of delight from the children made it all worthwhile as you finally landed back on the dock after about 15 minutes of flash and sizzle.
Maybe it was the music that helped make it special? No one could tell exactly where it was coming from because it was all around them. A bit of remembered sound from your cousin’s wedding night and a snatch of air current, and suddenly the air was full of a song played long ago on a starry night for your tribe back then, the lovely lot you called The Avalonians.
The flight was glorious, and you wondered why you did not do it more often over the years.
The way you did not stick the landing, on the other hand, was annoying. Especially when Sam, Sarah and Bucky ran over. The lift of raven-like angel’s wings was one thing in battle, but the faerie wings on your back now were another thing entirely. The fact you had not called them out in over 100 years meant you had forgotten much about maneuvering in them once you got back to Terra Firma.
“I am fine!” you protested as you finally pulled back your wings and flexed your arms a bit. “Just didn’t time the footfall properly. I am not Simone Biles by any means. She would have aced it.”
“No more jokes. You could have gotten hurt,” Bucky said as he reached out his hand to you, but you pulled back slightly as he did. Muscle memory was a bitch at times, and a tiny part of you could not help but remember Katowice, St. Petersburg, Budapest and several other places where you and Bucky did more bodily harm to each other than you had let on to anyone else. Even Steve never knew the full extent of the battles you and his best friend were part of over the years. It was probably better that way.
“It’s nothing that a good night’s sleep won’t fix. I’m still not right after that mess with the bus,” you answered as Sarah shot you the mother of all looks. “Even old warriors like me need time to heal.”
“You could have said something,” Sarah said as she just kept looking at you, concern and pain mixed in equal measure in her eyes. “You did not have to bring all that food, and you did not need to do all that fireworks stuff. These two said you’d pull some crazy stunt eventually...”
“And they were right,” you replied, tucking your hands behind your back so the slight tremor you felt was not visible to everyone else. “Because, well, this is how I was raised. Never say no when your help is needed. Always take care of family, even if you are dead on your feet. Leave a place better than you found it if at all possible…”
“Kari, did your fireworks have a finale you didn’t mention?” Bucky asked as he pointed behind you, a multicolored fissure opening above the bayou waters.
“That isn’t me!” you shouted as the raven wings of your office appeared, along with your armor, sword and shield. “Get everyone to safety! Now!”
“Wait. Is that a Quinjet?” Sam shouted as he worked to get everyone off the dock as quickly as possible as a plane maneuvered through the fissure.
“No, that’s the Zephyr…” you said as you stood with our mouth open. “SHIELD ship that vanished a few years ago. Fury was never able to track it down.”
The jet landed on the shore away from several houses, and you, Bucky and Sam made your way to the landing site. By now, thanks to some quick thinking by Cass and AJ, Sam had his shield at the ready, but you prayed he would not have to use it.
“SHIELD ship Zephyr One. Damn,” you muttered under your breath as you got to the now lowered ramp. “I thought you were dead! And so does Fury!” you said as two men made their way to the top of the ramp.
Standing in front of you were Phil Coulson and Daniel Sousa.
“Nice to see you again, Chief,” Coulson said as Sousa gave him an odd look. “One of my trainers back in the day.”
“And Peggy Carter’s best friend in mine,” Sousa added the duo was soon joined by Melinda May.
“She never told you? Either of you? She was the original 0-8-4,” May noted as she walked down the ramp.
“No, I helped Howard Stark coin the term,” you growled as you looked at May. “The world knows full well where I am from and how long I have walked this ground. I’m just a hell of a lot older than I look.”
“Oh my God, we are home,” Daisy Johnson said as she walked up next to Sousa, his arm snaking around her waist, leaving no question about their status as a couple. You had heard about the Inhuman’s encounters with some preternatural allies, and you wanted to hear more about that, as well as how Sousa was actually there with them now.
“Home?” Bucky whispered in your ear as Sam leaned in to hear his comments.
“If you weren’t home, where were you?” you asked Coulson as the rest of his team filtered off the ship. You vaguely knew them by physical attributes, but not all the names were clicking in your mind at the moment.
“I was hoping you might be able to tell us,” he said as you looked at him, and you could tell already this was not the Phil Coulson you knew. Not totally anyway. “From our calculations, we’ve been gone about five years.”
“The blip,” Sam said as you shook your head. “Oh, tá sé seo ach iontach. I mean, this is just great,” you said as you rolled your eyes. “You lot like cupcakes, right? Please say you like cupcakes. And beer.”
You grabbed Bucky’s hand without thinking and prayed he could actually hear the words you were thinking in that crazy link of Wanda’s. {{I wanted this to be a happy day for Sam. Not one where his family would be in the middle of this nonsense. I’ll get them all out of here fast. Just…could you please help me figure this out?}}
A brief nod let you know Bucky heard at least some of your request.
“Sarah, I’ll get these folks out of here and back to New York ASAP. I just hope I can find Maria Hill or Nick Fury. How do I explain that their world is about to get turned upside down again?”

And up to lucky Part 14—What in the world do you do with Agents of SHIELD if there is no more SHIELD? And how will the surviving OG Avengers feel when they learn Phil Coulson is not quite as dead as Nick Fury lead them to believe?

The Alienist: my new hyper fixation?
Today I want to talk about what is possibly my new hyper fixation, TNT’s The Alienist. A limited series made from 2018-2020. I cannot get enough of it. The plot revolves around an Alienist, basically a mental health professional in the Victorian era. He works with a reporter and police commissioner secretary to solve a complex crime in late victorian New York. If you like crime, mystery and drama you’ll love this.
I have ADHD and often times I need a motivator to watch something such as an actor/actress or director I like or it has to have a really captivating plot. This has both. I was initially interested because it had Daniel Brühl in it, who I think is FINE as hell, we’ll get to that later.
I’m not normally into dark stuff, as a Catholic I believe that the eyes and ears are gateways to the soul and if you’re watching that often, it can really affect you. I used to be able to tolerate a lot as to me it’s fakey fake Hollywood and CGI, since converting to Catholicism there’s only so much horror and darkness I can handle. At most I can do 28 Days Later and Fresh, but I’ll be honest here I only like Fresh because Sebastian Stan is HANDSOME in that movie. 😍
I want to add that watching this made me realize how sad, dark, dirty, and sexist the Victorian period is. Darkness aside, there is some charm to it. I used to watch those Tiktoks or instagram accounts of people dressing like they’re in a certain time period and would always be so confused to why someone would want to dress in the style of a sad and depressing era of people drinking arsenic in hopes of better health. Now I kinda get it and yet it’s not much different than me finding charm in medieval in renaissance history and culture.
On to the part I was looking forward to writing. I mainly gave this show a try because of Daniel Brühl. I watched Rush a few days ago, which is a formula one racing movie with him and Chris Hemsworth. Something about Daniel’s performance in that movie made me want to see what other work he is in. I knew him as Zemo from Captain America Civil War and The Falcon and Winter Soldier where he is a bad guy and as a diehard Bucky stan, I do not approve.
This show currently has me questioning that status as a diehard Bucky Barnes stan
Daniel Brühl is adorable, handsome and fine as hell in this. His character, as mentioned before is basically a mental health professional in a time knowledge about mental health was sparse. Dr. Kreizler has these very positive and non invasive methods working with his patients at his institute. The methods are very much reminiscent of the modern day mental health professionals I’ve seen in the 20 years of being diagnosed with ASD. I can’t really explain but his character and the development of his character within the series just set something off in me and I fell in love with his character. Maybe because he would understand me and my distressed mind? So I guess that makes me a Laszlo/Dr. Kreizler stan? 😂😅😍
Like just look at those eyes 😍
So in conclusion, The Alienist is a good show and Daniel Brühl is a great actor that is fine af.
I don’t fully know how to conclude a blog post
Happy Tuesday!

New mission , Soldat.
・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
Summary: after the events of CA:TWS in DC, y/n (her handler) and the winter soldier, both escape, Y/n afraid of what their leaders would do to them for having failed such an important mission, escapes and she takes the soldier with her.
warning: Angst?, I think the violence and themes are faithful to the canon
Author's note: Maybe this will become a series but I don't know, I just hope you like it and can appreciate it, anything let me know!.
・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
Before the mission
You were there when the soldier returned from the failed mission, something went wrong, terribly wrong, he remembered.
You stood with your arms crossed watching your boss, Alexander Price, talk to the soldier but he didn't respond.
You couldn't help but feel bad for him, but as usual in the HYDRA facilities, you didn't show it.
You sighed when you heard Price give the order to 'wash' him again, knowing how many times the soldier had been through it, it was cruel.
They began to say the plans for when the Quinyets were launched, they would send the soldier again, but you had to intervene.
"I have to go," you said firmly, interrupting Price. It's not like you really wanted to go, you weren't excited about going on an almost suicidal mission, but you couldn't leave the soldier alone, something told you that you should go.
"Excuse me?" Rumlow asked, almost amused by your boldness. "This mission isn't just a game like the others, we're talking about Captain America, not just any government pawn." he said seriously
"That's why I have to go, the soldier failed in the last mission, I have to go to...make sure it doesn't happen again" you explained while trying not to falter before the imposing men.
"Let her go, but if something goes wrong in this mission... you and your little soldier don't even want to imagine what I'll do to you," Price said normally. Rumlow and his men nodded, then motioned for you to follow them so they could prepare for the mission.
That's how you left the cruel laboratory where they were killing the soldier's mind, again.
★
The soldier joined you a while later, you were all in the armory taking weapons and filling your pockets with bombs and other devices.
"You are just a spare, in case the mission goes a little wrong you are in charge of fixing it, understood?" Rumlow said as he reloaded his gun and made sure it would fire normally.
You nodded while the soldier simply stared straight ahead, not recognizing orders other than his handler, in this case, you.
You looked at the soldier and spoke
"Soldat."Upon hearing your voice and recognizing it he turned to look at you, waiting for some kind of indication.
"gotov подчиняться..." he whispered with a hoarse voice, due to not speaking in days or maybe weeks.
You nodded, it was just like what Rumlow did, making sure your weapon will work
★
Again, everything went wrong, terribly wrong.
You and the soldier went up to the Quinyet, they would stop the captain once and for all.
"Don't let me insert the cartridge, do you hear me, soldier?" you murmured, pained by the previous fights with the SHIELD agents who wanted to play heroes and help the captain.
"Understood" he responded with a huff, determined to finish off the captain, the man seemed familiar to him, despite everything they had done with him, he kept remembering him.
Upon entering they saw that the captain had not yet entered the Quinyet, that gave them an advantage
"We must take care of this" you said seriously, you would not spoil such an important mission again.
The captain arrived, it was time to end this.He tried to reason with the soldier, calling him Bucky and trying a few other things, luckily for you it didn't work and the soldier continued with his mission, killing Rogers.
They both rushed at Rogers and began to fight, you flew away as soon as Rogers hit you with his shield, you grunted in pain and got up to continue helping the soldier, doing the best you could because let's face it, Captain Rogers is a super soldier, There's not much you could do against him.
★
Again, everything went wrong, but it could have been worse.
Because of the intense fight you fell from the Quinyet, the fall into the water was surprisingly painful, you swam to the shore and coughed in pain, the water had perhaps seeped into your lungs, nothing new but it was always just as painful.
"Shit" You cursed under your breath when you realized that the soldier was still on the ship, with Captain Rogers.
If this went wrong they would be terribly punished or even worse, you began pacing back and forth anxiously not knowing what to do.
Suddenly you saw how the ships were now pointing at each other, what the hell was happening? where was the soldier?
"everything went to hell..." you sighed as you pursed your lips as you watched the ships destroy each other, your heart sank as you remembered that the soldier was still on the ship.
It was strange to worry about him, after all he was only your 'partner' at work, your weapon.
In the distance you saw something falling, suddenly it started swimming, you assumed that maybe it was Captain America and the unconscious or possibly dead body of the soldier, in any case you became alert and took out your knife.
Realizing that things were the other way around, you sighed and put away your knife, watching as the soldier took out the unconscious body of the Captain.
"Maybe if we kill him now we could save ourselves..." you whispered doubtfully, looking at the soldier who seemed very injured and absorbed in his thoughts, both of them were soaked.
You ran a hand through your wet hair, thinking what they should do, if you handed over the captain you would continue with your miserable life in HYDRA, the same for the soldier.
You stared at him and pursed your lips before speaking.
"soldat?" You mumble suspiciously, maybe seeing him had messed up his 'system' or something so he just wanted to make sure.
"Ready to obey" He murmured with a tired and broken voice, you nodded and then hesitantly placed a hand on his shoulder.
"new mission, recover our lives..." you whispered as you looked at the captain's body, he would probably wake up a while later so you weren't worried, you approached the soldier and from his belt you removed a small box that served as a tracker, you threw it away to the lake and you smiled at him.
"It's time to go" you said as you began to walk away from there, there was a lot they had to do.

Forgive me if something is not faithful to canon, it is a fanfic! In which I will probably include headcanons of mine (things about Bucky)
