15, 17, 18, and 20! :)
So uh. This sat in my drafts for over a year and it's well past the point where it's weird to respond but I checked my drafts again and I feel as though at this point I must respond. So.
15. Recommend and review a book.
Going to recommend The Langya List by Hai Yan because hoooooooooooooooooooooooly fucking shit this has the best political drama I've ever read. Everyone is playing 4D chess with each other except for the protagonist who's playing 5D chest. It's set in the Southern Liang Kingdom during the Northen and Southern Dynasties period in 6th century China; beyond the incredible political plots that come about, there's a massive ensemble cast that's amazingly fleshed out and it's a story about finding justice for 70,000 dead souls who were wronged. It also was adapted into the TV show Nirvana in Fire which I personally believe is the best TV show to ever exist so maybe I'm a bit biased but this genuinely is one of my favorite of my recent reads.
17. Top 5 children’s books
Gotta be honest I don't remember very many so I will give you a few series instead as well as some novels. I also haven't read these in ages so it's possible I might go back and be like what the hell was I reading but this is what I remember
The Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles by Julie Andrews was a book I ADORED as a kid. It was a bright and colourful tale of a fantastical land, strange creatures, and brave siblings. Even now, many years later, I still remember much of it and might go back and take a read again.
All-of-a-kind family by Sydney Taylor is a story of five young Jewish siblings during the beginning of the 20th century. It's a slice-of-life sort of book and it had me hooked with their tales despite (or perhaps because of) how mundane it was. It was a cute romanticisation of childhood and daily life and I think it's a pretty timeless tale.
I, Coriander by Sally Gardner is a fantastical tale that's dark and grim and incredibly gripping. It's a story of familial tragedy, abuse, greed, jealousy, and magic. It's more a YA novel than a kid's book for sure.
The Buckshaw Chronicles by Ian Bradley was one of my favorites when I was like, 11. Featured a young girl detective, a la Sherlock Holmes, who ran around solving murders.
Percy Jackson was a huge cornerstone for me. It got me into greek mythology (despite its inaccuracies) and then the sequel Heroes of Olympus featured the first ever Chinese Canadian character I've ever seen in ANY mainstream media. Was he an accurate depiction? Not really. But the fact he was there still meant something to me.
18. Do you like historical books? Which time period?
Holy shit yeah. Give me any pre-Qing Dynasty Imperial China and I will be hooked.
20. What are things you look for in a book?
I don't have huge requirements beyond liking books that have messages I can ultimately be neutral/agree with. Like if it's just going to spew discriminatory talking points that's a hard no, but that's a given. Other than that though I'm game so long as the prose is great.

The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie Review
Tumblr media
The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie by Alan Bradley is a 386 YA Historical Fiction. It’s the first book in the Flavia de Luce series, which is 10 books long.
It is the summer of 1950–and at the once-grand mansion of Buckshaw, young Flavia de Luce, an aspiring chemist with a passion for poison, is intrigued by a series of inexplicable events: A dead bird is found on the doorstep, a postage stamp bizarrely pinned to its beak. Then, hours later, Flavia finds a man lying in the cucumber patch and watches him as he takes his dying breath. For Flavia, who is both appalled and delighted, life begins in earnest when murder comes to Buckshaw. “I wish I could say I was afraid, but I wasn’t. Quite the contrary. This was by far the most interesting thing that had ever happened to me in my entire life.”
I rate this book 3/5 stars.
It’s been an entire month since I actually read this book and to be honest it didn’t stick with me in any way. I’ve forgotten all of what happened within this book and only remember what I’ve written down in my notes while reading this, so here we go:
The main character is really unbelievable, she’s only 11 years old but acts way older. With the amount of knowledge she soaks up in a matter of moments she instantly sounds more like a 15-18 year old. 45-50% through the book there is a scene where the dad pretends to be Asian man for a magic trick and it feels real racist because the audiobook puts on an stereotypical accent. It’s set in the 1950′s, so I kinda understand why they did that, but still. It made me feel uncomfortable.
I noted that the reveal was rather interesting and that it was a plus, but I can’t even remember what the reveal was, so I’m trusting past me on this one.
Do you have any questions? Or maybe some recommendations? Send me an ask here on Tumblr or tweet me.  If you wish to support me, you can buy me a coffee! Or even buy my debut fantasy novel, The Mending Road.

Hello everyone Ricky Goldman here.
Tumblr media
Its LWF:Lancashire Riot here live in Buckshaw Community Center in Chorley. I got a hot dog, chips and a couple of beers. This is my 1st time ever to this company.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The 1st match is David Getski vs Tony Wright for the LWF title. Its great to see how far Tony has come in such a short time, the champion took advantage to start the match,Tony slowly got back into it but only got put down just as quck,Tony rolled back and looked to take the title home. Chris Stone who was at ringside distracted rge referee so Nick Kutter also at ringside threw the title to Davey but Tony caught it throwing it to the champion and acting as if he got knocked out,Davey then through the title to the referee, the ref then threw it back to Chris took a bump himself. Both Tony and David up they low blow each other, back up and the action taken to the top rope. David makes Tony pass out to retain.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next up is Lucy Sky vs Kelly Van Ness in a semi finals match for the castle cup. My 1st look at Kelly, shes very green, this was a decent match. Lucy was heel here and played it well. The action was took to the outside then back in where Lucy hits a spear for the victory.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
On we go with the next one Lana Austin vs Melanie Price for the LWF womens title. Melanie has actually improved, she attacks the champion before the bell, they brawl and fight all around the venue before getting in the ring. They go back and forth both going for multiple pin attempts. Melanie grabs the title but Lana hits a stunner to no avail. The action to the outside where Melanie distracts the champion then clocks her with the title forcing a DQ.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And now its the MAIN EVENT! and its the Lancashire Riot rumble. 1st entrant is Troy Ryan,Number 2 is Friendly Number 3 is Velvet Vaughn,in at Number 4 is Maverick Matt Williams, entrant Number 5 is Ryan Lowe he grabs the mic to gain heat once in the ring everyone eliminates him, coming in at Number 6 is Nick kutter he sits in the crowd until Number 7 Chris Stone comes in then they take over,Big Ron at Number 8 is in both hes eliminated, then Chris and Friendly are now next to go out. Masked Marauder enters at Number 9,Chris Mansell is Number 10 followed by Eddy 'Brek'Manson in at Number 11. Eddy and Chris eliminated as Bellatues enters at Number 12. Aiton Steen in at Number 13 followed by Clash at Number 14. They all gang up on Bellateus to take him out. Sheriff Steel is entry Number 15 and the next one in at Number 16 is Moon Bear. Tony Wright in at Number 17. Sheriff Steel eliminated. In comes Steven Cross as Number 18. Nate Reese is Number 19. Moon Bear is gone. Max Brooker in at Number 20 followed by Nathan Gunn at Number 20. Tony out as Mr.B in at Number 21 then in comes Lily Winter at Number 22 she eliminates Troy and then gets eliminated herself and so is Mr.B followed by Masked Marauder,Steven,Nate and Nick. Bob Custard is the final entrant. Its down to 2 and they must get a pinfall to win which Aiton Steen does.
Tumblr media
I give it a rating of good.

Hire Locksmith at Reasonable Prices for Lock Repair
All valuable things in life incorporate a few significant burdens. Then again, so it is said. In any case, we acknowledge that where locksmiths are concerned, this needs to not be what is happening. Humble locksmiths are not unobtrusive in the frame of mind in which they work or how they dodge making keys. It's just that these locksmiths charge much less and thus frequently succumb to uncertainty. We acknowledge that sensible should be a second name for every locksmith organization. It is futile to enroll a locksmith who charges you a very high price. Thusly, humble locksmiths, sensible and practical as they are, are a tremendously superior choice when contrasted with the purportedly costlier locksmiths.
Tumblr media
Humble locksmiths are oftentimes seen with uncertainty. Humble locksmiths, regardless of how extraordinary they are, frequently disregard the flicker of confirmation in the helper's eyes. Unassuming locksmith organizations experience the evil impacts of the issue of abundance amusingly. Unobtrusive locksmiths, unmistakably called sensible locksmiths, as the name suggests, are modest. A natural saying goes that everything in the world includes some major disadvantages. Locksmith businesses are not an exception to this rule. What we are referring to is only that incredible locksmith organizations are, as often as possible, outstandingly more reasonable.
Humble locksmiths are regarded the world over for being just that—unassuming locksmiths. Unassuming locksmiths need to manage the most delicate locks on, without a doubt, the most esteemed vehicles, houses, lodges, etc. Unassuming locksmiths the world over are regarded as experts at their fascinating and regularly tiring work. Unassuming Locksmiths in Eccleston gather a satisfactory number of bangs for their buck in the affirmation they get. Unassuming locksmiths guarantee you the best treatment for your vehicle and the phenomenal pressure of being kept out of it. Notwithstanding the way that they achieve such an incredible arrangement and handle all their work with such a great deal of care, humble locksmiths are regularly ridiculed and, in like manner, called "unassuming."
Finally, and sadly, there are various locksmiths out there who are not approved locksmiths. Generally, these unlicensed locksmiths, who are habitually similarly natural and very unprofessional and basically refer to themselves as "locksmiths," are simply endeavoring to acquire as much money as could be anticipated. These locksmiths, accordingly, will offer damaging and outstandingly misguided directions. Most of the time, these people have no verifiable inclusion in locksmith organizations. They in like manner need arrangement in the security business. They are, much of the time, particularly voracious individuals. These are not unassuming locksmiths. These are not locksmiths using any and all means. Unassuming locksmiths offer comparative organizations introduced by various locksmiths, but at a much lesser rate.
We like to call these locksmiths affordable locksmiths or markdown locksmiths as opposed to unobtrusive locksmiths and, along these lines, corrupting them. Nonetheless, there should be some caution. There are numerous advertisers who introduce themselves as locksmiths and who assurance to charge you just a little part of what the various locksmiths are charging you. The important assumption for these implied "unobtrusive locksmiths" is to go into your home and free you from your assets. Thus you should be cautious and affirm the grant of the locksmith given to him by the area directing body to be doubly sure.

Flavia de Luce fandom, I need you!! I have a burning question about the events of book 6!!
~major spoilers for book 6, The Dead In Their Vaulted Arches~
Tumblr media
So in chapter 7 p. 78, Flavia sneaks into Harriet’s room to see her in her coffin, but she is interrupted by her father coming into the room. She hides, and overhears him weeping and saying “Harriet, forgive me. It was I.”
Much later in the book we learn that Harriet, Aunt Felicity, and others, including possibly Flavia’s father were involved in some secret government intelligence operation to break Japanese codes, but there was a traitor amongst them. Harriet went to Japan (or was it Singapore? anyway) to try to find the traitor, but was unsuccessful, and then was killed by Lena de Luce on her way back to England.
Ok, so, my question!!! Was Colonel de Luce the traitor?? He said “Forgive me, it was I.” We are given no other context for this confession and Flavia never thinks about it again. All we know is the traitor was never found.
This has been driving me crazy ever since I finished this book! I’m so confused because this seems like a monumental thing to be hidden away in a throwaway line and never mentioned again? (I haven’t read the next books yet so if it actually gets explained later, my bad.) Like, I always believed Flavia’s dad was a good person, if cold and distant, but this would change everything. Is he a traitor to England? I don’t get it, it is an oversight on the author’s part? If he was a spy for the Japanese, then why would he be held and tortured in a Japanese POW camp? Also, if he was the traitor then he is indirectly responsible for Harriet’s death and that adds a whole screwed up layer to the tragedy of the de Luces that I feel needs to be addressed!
Did anyone else notice this? I’ve honestly scoured the Internet about this book and I can’t find any mention of it.
Any insights??
