"valley reverie" - sebastian
summary: the timeline of sebastian and the farmer’s relationship based on canon dialogue
pairing: sdv sebastian x farmer
word count: 2.5K
a/n: this may be my magnum opus
Tumblr media
The sun was beginning its descent behind the mountains when Sebastian emerged from the house for the first—and only—time that day.
He shot a glance to his mother and Demetrius, who were standing at the edge of their property, looking over the valley bathed in golden light. His mother sent a small smile back, followed by a pointed disappointed look at the carton of cigarettes held loosely in his hand. Demetruis didn’t acknowledge his existence.
Sebastian knew it was a nasty habit, but he spent most of his life with not much thought to the future—he was surprised he made it this far. Maybe his life would have been different if he had planned better; if he had considered for a moment that there was such a thing as life past sixteen, then eighteen, then twenty-one. He supposed he should start to consider a life past twenty-four, but quickly dropped the thought as he placed the cigarette between his lips and continued his stroll to the lake.
He saw it then, as his lighter sparked to life and helped the cigarette take eleven minutes off his.
Someone was sitting in his spot. A humanoid blob of denim focused intently on the bobber floating in the water.
He hesitated, then decided to keep moving—his trajectory now locked in past the stranger and across the rickety planks of wood to the smaller islands in the middle of the lake. His mother had been saying for years that she needed to build something more structurally sound, but had yet to get around to it.
As he got closer, he took in more of the scene. There was a muddy bucket next to the stranger, and he noticed a couple slimy carp flopping around inside. Whoever this was, they clearly didn’t have enough experience to catch the tricker creatures in the lake.
Just as he was about to slip past toward solitude, he locked eyes with the stranger. Their bored expression quickly turned to worry.
“Sorry, am I in your spot? Robin said it was okay for me to fish here.”
Recognition sparked in his brain—his mother had told him about the new resident of Pelican Town. The words she had used to describe them flashed behind his eyes: sweet, a little lost, cute. That last one was sent his way with an exaggerated wink and met with a scoff from him.
“Oh. You just moved in, right? Cool.”
The farmer didn’t respond, just looked on waiting for an answer to their question. Sebastian didn’t gratify them with a response, instead looking across the lake at the tree line and abandoned quarry.
“Out of all the places you could live, you chose Pelican Town?”
The farmer scrunched up their mouth slightly, beginning to reel in their line. There was nothing but a limp worm dangling from the hook. Sebastian took note of the grieving look flashing on their face before it was gone in a blink.
“Better than where I was.”
Sebastian didn’t bother responding as the farmer heaved up the bucket—they were a lot stronger than they looked—and walked away without another word.
Robin smiled at the farmer with a wave and shouted goodnight before sending another disapproving look to her son.
_________________________________________
Sebastian heaved open the door of the house, exhausted from band practice. Sam was his best friend, and he enjoyed spending time with him more than he would admit, but the newest addition to the band was definitely a hindrance.
He didn’t dislike Abigail, and he couldn’t deny that she was a talented drummer, but he had been hoping for years that her little crush on him would fade away. He could only take so much of puppy dog eyes and over exaggerated laughter at his quips that definitely aren’t that funny.
He was so absorbed in his thoughts on how to shake off the purple-haired girl—more importantly, how to shake her off without actual confrontation—that he didn’t notice the farmer leaning against the shop counter until their voice pierced through. His mother was nowhere to be seen, so they had to have been talking to him.
“What? I didn't hear you...I'm busy thinking about something. What do you want?”
The farmer narrowed their eyes at him, leveling him with a glare. “You know, I get that you’d rather be listening to My Chemical Romance and jerking off to Nietzsche than interacting with a human being, but you really need to work on your people skills.”
Well, he hadn’t been expecting that.
He expected avoidance from the farmer, based on their first meeting and subsequent run-ins where they gave him a nod of acknowledgement before going back to acting like he didn’t exist.
He realized that the farmer wasn’t as timid and one-dimensional as he let himself think.
The moment was saved by Robin entering the shop room and dropping a workbench on the floor with a heavy thud. “You’ll make better use of this than I have lately—it’s pretty old,” she looked up from the dusty bench, noticing her son frozen in the doorway, “oh, hi Sebby.”
“Sebby?” the farmer questioned with a smirk.
Sebastian rolled his eyes, brushing past his mother to get to his lair.
“Sorry about him,” he heard his mother as he descended the stairs.
“It’s fine,” the farmer laughed, “he’s cool.”
He couldn’t help the smile pulling at the corners of his mouth. _________________________________________
Sebastian looked down at the frozen tear in his hand with a neutral expression on his face, though his heart was quickening its pace.
“Gunther told me it’s fabled to be the frozen tears of a yeti.”
He met the farmer’s grin with one of his own, “I really love this. How did you know?”
They shrugged, “Seemed like some emo shit you’d be into.”
A breathy laugh escaped him before he could stop it. “Well…thanks.”
“No prob. I’ll keep an eye out for more when I’m in the mines.”
“The mines?,” his brow furrowed, “how far down did you go?”
“Not super deep, I think I stopped at sixty since it was getting late.”
Sebastian gaped at the farmer—who he now realized he really misjudged—as they shouldered their backpack and turned toward the door.
“Oh,” they stopped just shy of the threshold, “your code is wrong, by the way. Third line down.”
He looked to the screen, baffled, seeing that there was, in fact, a mistake in his code.
He began to ask the farmer how they knew that, but they were gone. _________________________________________
The sun was setting on the valley, and Sebastian found himself sitting by the lake’s edge with the farmer, who was reeling in sturgeon and bass with ease.
“I’m sure the city’s different for other people, but it was corporate hell for me,” the farmer spoke softly as they baited their hook—it was different than any bait he had ever seen, and the farmer had informed him that the wild man living behind their house had taught them the recipe.
Sebastian hummed, “I guess that makes sense.”
“You guess?” the farmer teased him, flicking water at his face.
He blew a puff of smoke in their face.
The farmer coughed, then began to laugh as they fanned the smoke out of their face, “asshole.”
Sebastian grinned, leaning back on the palms of his hands and gazing across the water.
They sat in comfortable silence as the farmer cast out their line and half-heartedly focused on the bobber—they didn’t really need it anymore, but liked the safety net.
“You and Sam are probably my only friends in this town.” Sebastian broke the silence, but continued looking straight ahead.
“Well I am very likable.”
Sebastian knocked their shoulders together with a scoff.
“Sure, keep telling yourself that.” _________________________________________
Sebastian was indifferent—and sometimes loathful—toward most events held in their little town, but tonight was an exception. It was hard to not be in awe of the midnight jellies, and he was excited for the farmer to see them for the first time.
They were perched at the edge of the dock, along with Sam and Abigail, their feet dangling inches above the water.
It was a lot colder than expected, and the farmer was bundled in his black jacket. He couldn’t help but feel bad about the sad glances Abigail was sending their way.
The farmer looked content, and Sebastian recalled something they told him at the beginning of the season—the used to be terrified of the ocean before moving to the valley.
He nudged their shoulder with his own. It didn’t take much effort—they were sitting a lot closer than he realized. A light blush dusted his cheekbones.
“I thought I saw something moving in there…” he pointed to the void of the ocean and leaned closer to their ear, whispering, “something big, something dark.”
The farmer’s eyes widened as they looked across the vast darkness before they narrowed and turned to him.
“Just trying to scare you...” Sebastian laughed.
The farmer smiled, knocking their knee against his, muttering an all too familiar “asshole.”
It wasn’t too long before Lewis sent out the first lantern, and the water surrounding the docks was filled with glowing jellyfish.
“It’s beautiful,” the farmer breathed out as their head landed on his shoulder.
“Yeah,” his eyes landed on a glowing green jelly before looking down at the farmer, “it is.” _________________________________________
Sebastian never saw the farm in its full glory—before the farmer’s grandfather grew old and passed away—but he had been there plenty of times when it was overgrown and abandoned.
He had told the farmer this as they sat on the newly installed swinging bench on their porch. They joked that they would be suing him for trespassing, since it was technically their property at the time, even if they hadn’t known it.
It was a chilly fall day, but the farmer had made a pot of coffee to keep them warm.
“I thought this was your busy season,” Sebastian lit up a cigarette and moved the ashtray closer to where he sat. It was a newer addition to the farmer’s decor. He thought about the prideful look on their face as they held it up and told him that Leah let them use her pottery wheel. It was painted with little creatures that looked like the much happier cousins of the slimes living in the caves.
The farmer hummed, holding their mug close to their face, but not taking a sip, “Yeah…a lot busier than I thought it would be, actually.”
He grinned at them, “so, you’re slacking today, huh?”
The farmer laughed.
“I’d rather hang out with your sorry ass than work.” Despite the insult, the farmer’s tone was soft and earnest. Sebastian felt his cheeks heat up.
“Could you picture me living on a farm? It seems ridiculous, but I have been thinking about it lately.”
“If I could do it, then so could you,” the farmer linked their pinky with his, “it’s a lot more freeing than you’d think.” _________________________________________
Boxes filled with Sebastian’s things lined the walls of the farmhouse, but Sebastian and the farmer lay in bed, choosing to ignore them.
They had all the time in the world.
The farmer was twirling the pendant dangling from Sebastian’s neck, “there’s steam coming out of your ears, Seb,” the farmer giggled and smoothed out the wrinkle between his brows with their finger.
“I’ve just been thinking,” Sebastian turned his attention from the ceiling to the farmer, “The older I get, the less I'm drawn to the city. It had a certain mystique to it, once. But it turns out that was just a romantic fantasy. The city's so busy, so full of people... I don't belong there. I'm a loner.”
A beat.
“Present company excluded, of course.”
The farmer laughed, “Well I would hope so,” they tugged gently on the pendant, pulling him closer, “because you’re stuck with me.” _________________________________________
Sebastian and the farmer had joined his family for dinner, and his mother had shooed them away with one hand as she cooed at the bundle held tightly in her other arm.
The valley was coming to life, but the ghost of a winter chill was in the air. They settled down by the lake despite the cold. It was no longer his spot, but theirs.
The farmer was skipping stones across the lake when he grumbled about how being in that spot made him want a smoke.
“No one’s stopping you,” the farmer laughed.
“I am.”
The farmer still held a loose smile as they raised their eyebrows at him, “oh?”
“I'm trying my best to quit smoking now that we're married…” He avoided their gaze and brushed some mud on the palm of his hand onto his jeans, “I don't wanna die on you. It's a bad habit. I want to have a future together.”
A baby cried in the distance. Sebastian and the farmer smiled at each other. _________________________________________
The farmer was surprised to find Sebastian’s side of the bed empty when they woke up. It wasn’t a rare occasion, as they usually found Sebastian in the kitchen after a restless sleep, but he was nowhere to be found.
They couldn’t help but worry a little bit as they pulled on their boots and opened the screen door. They paused out of instinct to let the dog run out before them only to realize that the dog wasn’t hot on their heels like usual.
They had only gotten two steps onto the porch before a mass of fur and slobber crashed into their legs.
“Oh hello baby,” they cooed down at the dog as it rolled onto its back, breathing heavily out of excitement, “good morning stink.”
“Good morning to you too.”
The farmer was so caught up in giving the dog attention that they hadn’t noticed Sebastian leaning against the porch railing.
They straightened from their crouch, smiling at him as the dog whined from the loss of affection.
“I couldn’t fall back asleep, so I went ahead and fed the animals,” he pushed off the railing and took a few steps forward to fix a rogue piece of the farmer’s hair, “one less thing for you to do.”
“Thanks, Seb,” the farmer said softly, suddenly bashful, “I’m going to check on the pumpkins. Thought I could make some soup tonight if any of them are ripe.”
They took a few steps off the porch, “feel like being a country boy today? Or did you get your fix?”
He smiled, leaning his forearms against the railing, “I'll just watch you from here. I enjoy watching you.” _________________________________________
Sebastian and the farmer found themselves sitting on the porch swing once again. It was a mild summer evening, and he was looking on as a toddler played with the dog in the yard.
He tore his attention away from the rowdy scene in front of him to look at the farmer, who was curled up at his side reading a book. He felt his heart swell.
“This is so different from my old life, but I'm really starting to like it. I feel like I really belong here.”
The farmer looked up from the book in their lap, smiling.
“I don't often show it, but I'm really happy that I'm your husband. Marrying you was the best decision I ever made.”

Sebastian likes frogs. Emphasis on the word likes.
He appreciates them, they do good for the environment. They eat up all the nasty flies that buzz around the mountain lake, too. He doesn’t have to worry about mosquitos snaking on his blood while he smokes. It’s just a plus that he finds them cool and interesting.
Which most people find weird. Sebastian thinks it’s weird that they find it weird. Frogs aren’t going out of their way to bother people.
Yes, he likes them. They’re his favorite animal, certainly.
But favorite is not enough for him to want to smooch a frog.
“Sam, I’m not gonna fucking kiss a frog.”
“C’mon! It’ll be like the movie!” Sam teases, insistently shoving Sebastian to the frog innocently sitting on a park bench. “Who knows, maybe it’ll be your very own froggy princess—”
“Didn’t the girl turn into a frog when she kissed it,” he shoots back, elbowing Sam backwards in the gut. The blond lets out an overdramatic hiss of pain, bent over and clutching his stomach. “Abby, back me up here.”
“I never watched that stuff,” Abigail shrugs, watching with amusement. She makes no move to help at all, comfortably resting against the wide wooden posts of a fence. “Watched a lotta cartoons though. Phineas and Ferb is my jam.”
“Not about the movie,” Sebastian grits exasperatedly. His brows knitting together in frustration “The frog.”
“Mhm, go on,” a cheshire-like grin on her face. “Kiss it, Seb. A big smooch right on its slimy mouth.”
Sam eggs him on, the pain of being elbowed magically disappearing. “Do it! Do it!”
Sebastian presses his lips tightly together. There’s no use resisting once Abby and Sam band together. They’re a force to be reckoned with like this—demanding and overbearing. Sebastian exasperatedly wipes a hand over his face, shooting the poor frog a sorry look.
Sam pushes him one more time, he gives him a stony glare in return. “Fuck—alright! Stop being so damn loud, you’ll scare it away.”
The frog in question croaks slightly, like it senses the trio talking about it. He gives it a wary glance.
As he slowly approaches, Sebastian can hear Abby and Sam’s satisfied sniggering behind him. They roped him into doing another stupidly outrageous thing for the umpteenth time.
He sighs, he really needs better friends.
Mustering up all his courage, he bends down, almost eye level with the frog, resting a hand on the wooden grain bench on where it’s perched upon.
He screws his eyes shut and goes for it.
Sebastian’s lips connect with the frog’s slimy, almost rough skin. So fast and featherlight that it can barely be considered a kiss. Cold against his lips. He pulls back immediately after, wiping any residue off his lips with the back of his hand.
The frog jumps, croaking with, what he assumes is, alarm.
“See?” Abby laughs, ruffling his hair good-naturedly. “No princess in sight. You didn’t turn into a frog either!”
“Man,” Sam snickers, patting him roughly on the back. Sebastian groans with every smack. “It would’ve been cool though, if you turned into a frog. We’d have a frog drummer in our band!”
Sebastian shoves his unruly friends off. “Yeah, whatever. Let’s get going. The frog is probably traumatized.”
“You can check that off your bucket list,” Abby teases, a smirk playing on her lips. “Kiss a frog before I die. We’ll tell the story for generations.”
Sam howls with laughter, Sebastian feels absolutely mortified.
Before the trio could make any move out of the park, a cloud of green smoke curtains the frog, so thick and so unusual. Sebastian unconsciously backs away from it.
“What—woah,” Sam says, more mezmerised than shocked at the green smoke pouring out of the frog Sebastian kissed. “What is that?”
“The fuck if we know, Sam!”
“Boys, boys, shut the fuck up. Look.”
Abigail points at the fog. It grows and grows, stopping and dissipating once the whole bench is covered with the green mist.
The frog is gone—disappeared into thin air. Instead, a not-so-frog shaped person sits. You blink up at Sebastian slowly.
Woah, woah.
He feels his heart accelerating—for all the wrong reasons. An unusual thumping sound that vibrates all throughout his body—his fingertips, his stomach, his toes. Where there should be fear and panic and definitely fear, Sebastian feels exhilaration.
You’re pretty.
It’s also pretty horrifying for him to think—and feel.
You blink slowly—a frog-like trait that cement his suspicions. You’re staring up at him as he stares back down at you, curious meets bewildered. “…”
His eyes are wide, scanning each and every part of your now not frog-like features. Sebastian feels cold sweat dripping down his forehead—a stark temperature difference to the heat in his cheeks. “Oh—oh shit.”
“Uhm… ribbit?”
-
Another thing he blames on Sam and Abby—his horrifying attraction you; the person, not the frog.
He checks that off his metaphorical bucket list, too.

ep 13: my wonderwall, at least i hope so
word count: 1.5k words
Tumblr media
It's already been two months and three weeks since you and Jisung started hanging out. That's also how long the overthinking thoughts of whether you really want to pursue this relationship or not have been torturing you as they're kept in a locked folder in the back of your mind.
You knew you and Jisung had to have the talk at some point, but every time you tried, the timing was always a bit… off.
The first time you tried was two weeks ago, at another Rockway gig. It was getting on your nerves that a bunch of screaming girls came to that particular performance of theirs, especially when some of them were eyeing Jisung and losing their minds every time he looked over in their direction to play his typical drummer role of pleasing the audience correctly. Even though he caught their attention the whole night, you caught his, which is how you succeeded in pulling him aside after Rockway finished their performance.
“Jisung, can I talk to you for a moment?”
It wasn't the right time or place, sure, but you had to get this off your chest because your heart felt like it was on a ticking time bomb.
Jisung joins you in the corner after he frees himself away from the girls around him once Chenle gets his signal that he’s desperate for a way out. “What’s up? Are you feeling okay?”
“Yeah, I'm fine. I just need to talk to you. I know this isn't a good time right now but I seriously need to say this.”
He only raises his brow, “Okay.” He's anxious, but he doesn't have time to dwell on how he's feeling when he's worried about you. The way you’re visibly stressing out has him putting the pieces together on why you called him over, but as Chenle and Jeno said, he was going to wait for your lead.
“I like—”
You. I like you. That's what you were supposed to say, and so much more. Until some dumb overly excited girls came over and interrupted your private conversation.
The squeals of “Jisung, you did soooo well tonight!”, “You were so hot up there!” and “Can I get your number?” sounded blurry in your head with how irritated you were getting.
Yeah… You ended up leaving Jisung and the party in general despite the sad protests from your friends on how “you needed to cheer yourself up.” But, you brushed them off by telling them that it was impossible to do that right now.
So, you ended your night in your apartment alone with the accompaniment of a big bucket of cookie dough ice cream, multiple episodes of How I Met Your Mother, and no friends or Jisung by your side.
You tried again the week after, but just like last time, it did not turn out so well.
You should've known that it wouldn't work because it was during a hangout with both of your friend groups, specifically hosted at Jisung and Jeno's apartment.
Jaemin, Haechan, Chenle, and Yeonjun were busy being loud as they screamed over one another during a game of Mario Kart 8 in the living room while Jeno helped Ning finish a two-thousand-piece puzzle downstairs. And, Mark and Renjun were nowhere to be found due to them both having different plans set for that day.
Which left you and Jisung in his room. Alone. He originally brought you up here to show off his new collectibles, so you weren't sure how you ended up watching a movie with him on his bed.
It seemed like the perfect time to tell him, it really did. But just as you were about to open your mouth, your phone rang, leaving you on the phone with Renjun for three whole hours while he ranted about someone who pissed him off at his group study session. And by the time your conversation with Renjun ended and you hung up, Jisung was already occupied by a game of Super Smash Bros with your friends in the living room.
You're still mad at Renjun for ruining the moment.
And now, you're here, a few days after, in Jeno and Jisung’s apartment once again, but this time, sitting on their living room couch with him right next to you.
Neither of you spoke during the movie you were currently watching, probably because you both wanted to ignore the awkward tension that's been spiraling around the two of you for the past few weeks. But to you, now seemed like the perfect time to break that. It was dark out and you were both left alone as Jeno had to leave to run errands.
“Ji, can you pause the movie?”
Without asking, Jisung mutters “Sure.” before grabbing the remote control and pausing the movie.
With his attention on you, you sit up and fix your posture on the couch, which he mirrors. You thought fixing your appearance would help balance yourself from the overcoming emotions you knew you were going to have at this very moment.
“Okay, well—”
But then, you get interrupted again. Not by Jeno walking in, or a random phone call from one of your friends, but by him.
“Wait! Before you tell me your thing, there’s something I’ve been wanting to tell you.”
Despite the small annoyance that was creeping on you, you dismissed it and instead, anticipated what he was going to say. Most times, you didn’t mind how oblivious Jisung was, but right now, you really wish he could read the room and let you say what’s on your mind. You hope he’s going to say the same thing you were going to say, but he didn’t need to interrupt you for it…
Your silence cues him to continue, “You remember Oasis? You know, the band I told you about?” You nod. “Okay, um, there’s this one song by them, it’s actually one of my favorites. It’s called Wonderwall, it’s kinda like a love song but uh—I’m not saying we’re in love ‘cause obviously we’re not—”
“We’re not?”
Shit. That’s not what Jisung meant.
He panics, “No! I mean–yes? Fuck, I dunno, Y/N.”
“Oh. Okay.”
The thing is, you know that he didn’t mean anything bad out of it, then how come you felt your heart break into two hearing how unsure he felt about you? Should you even confess right now? No, this doesn’t feel right.
The room is full of complete and uncomfortable silence with no other words said, and it annoys the hell out of you. You can tell it bothers Jisung just as much because you watch him mentally stress out in front of you, his face in his hands as he lets out an exasperated sigh. Both of your minds were pushing you to fix the problem, but you can’t. You don’t know how to. This is new for you both, and that’s the problem.
Just as Jisung grasps a new idea in his head, he sees you physically pull farther away from him before you grab your bag from the side and stand up from your place on the couch.
You swallow the lump in your throat, your voice coming out quavered, “I–um, I gotta go.”
Scared to see his reaction or hear his voice, you thought what was best. You escape. You rush out of his apartment, giving him no time to react at all. The last sounds Jisung heard were the slam of the door and the words Chase after her, don’t her go from the little voice in his head.
Jisung knew you were hiding yourself away from him again. He noticed it the first night you hung out and some moments after that, but he felt that it was insensitive to bring it up out of nowhere. Right now was one of those moments.
When you’re outside of the apartment, you’re met with Jeno who’s looking at you, puzzled and worried. Even though it felt like your world was crashing down on you, the way he almost resembled a Samoyed dog and how you could imagine the cogs in his brain turning lightened your mood a little bit. But just like Jisung, you gave him no time to say anything.
“Y/N!” You hear Jeno call after you after you quickly walk away.
Just like he expected you to, you ignore him and he watches you rush down the stairs. Many scenarios were circling in his head right now, but he didn’t want to assume the worst before he asked Jisung himself.
Jeno inserts his assigned key into the key slot before turning it, the door unlocking right after. He walks in and sees no Jisung in the living room or kitchen.
There’s no way that kid escaped. He thinks.
He’s about to let it pass him by until he notices Jisung’s door slightly cracked open. He walks over and gently pushes it to reveal the younger one sprawled on his bed. Though he knows it’s not the best moment, he snickers at the sight. Oh, Jisung's in love.
Then, he hears a pouty “You know, I can hear you, Jeno.” come from Jisung before he watches him switch positions on his bed. His disheveled hair and the I fucked up expression he’s wearing tell Jeno all he needs to know.
Already knowing he’s going to be here for a while, the said man opens the door more to give himself space to get comfortable. He rests his body against the doorframe, folds his arms then sighs, “Alright, what’d you do, kid?”
“I messed up.”

Tap, Tap, Tapping
Eddie Munson x gn!reader
Summary: You have a strange habit, and Eddie is determined you embrace it.
Word Count: 1.4k
Warnings/notes: No warnings. Just Eddie being a sweet goofy friend. No use of y/n and lots of pet names.
A/N: This was actually inspired by my father lol He's able to tap the rhythm to a song so accurately while riding in the car with the radio on. Whether on the steering wheel or his leg or otherwise. I always thought he would be a fantastic drummer. My mind related it to Eddie somehow 😅😅😅 Enjoy! SorryifthisissuperbadIhaventwritteninsolong
Tiny taglist I haven't forgotten: @zestychili
Tumblr media
"What're you doing?" Eddie asked as he drove, glancing over at you momentarily before his eyes went back on the road. The radio played an Ozzy song from a few years back, taking you both back to 1981. Eddie wasn't reminiscing though. He was too focused on you presently.
Pulled out of your daze, you looked at him. "Hm?"
"With your hand," He gestured to you. You looked down at your hand resting still on your thigh.
Once again, you look up at him, this time confused. Before you can say anything though, he speaks again.
"Agh, you stopped," He grumbled. "Did you know you do that? Tap your fingers to music?"
You lifted your hand and looked at it as if it were a foreign object. "Uh.... I mean yeah, I guess. A lot of people do that, Eds," You chuckle, despite feeling a bit flattered he noticed such a small detail. It was one of your little ticks, something you did without thinking much of. You'd done it ever since you'd discovered music. Rock music only made it happen more often.
Eddie pulled up to his trailer and put the van in park, turning to face you more instead of getting out. "No but like, you do it differently. You're completely following the drums in the song."
A sigh left you as you opened the passenger door, anxious to get to that joint Eddie promised you. "Uh yeah, that's kind of the point of tapping your fingers to a song. You follow the beat." You quipped as your feet landed on the gravel.
The driver side door opened and closed with yours and Eddie rounded the front of the van to you. "You don't get it, when I say you follow the drums, I mean it. You hit every beat completely in time. I mean sure sometimes you mess up, but like.... you could be a drummer, sweets. For real." His dark eyes were earnest.
You rolled your eyes and dismissed him, pushing past his form and heading towards the trailer. "Eddie you're being dumb," You reply, thinking maybe this was another one of his teasing jokes he always pulled. A drummer? You? You didn't even take band in high school, let alone know anything about drumming.
Footsteps followed after you as you walked up the steps and you lean over to let Eddie unlock his door.
"I'm being serious! I could play a song you've never heard before and you'd have the percussion down like that!" He exclaimed with the snap of his fingers as he fished out his keys and opened the door for you.
It swung open and you walked in, shaking your head. "Because it's easy!! It's all in the patterns, anybody could catch on to that."
Eddie barked out a laugh. "You'd be surprised, hon. A lot of people don't have a single musical bone in their body."
"What I do isn't music, Ed's. It's just.... me being restless. That's all."
"I don't believe that... here, sit." A hand grabbed your wrist and yanked you over to the couch. You opened your mouth to protest but he gave you a stern "Shush," before he disappeared into his room down the hall.
You leaned over to watch as he walked back into the livingroom and plopped an upside down five gallon bucket in front of you. He then held out two drumsticks, a goofy smile on his face. "Play!"
"Eddie...." You can't help but smile at him despite your patience wearing thin. You cross your arms, glancing warily at the drum sticks.
"Come on, sweetheart, just try! Here, I'll even put on music for you." He tossed the sticks at you, startling you as he went over to one of his many boom boxes and hits play.
The music was far too loud, startling you again. It caused you to finally stand and raise your voice. "Eddie!!"
The music immediately stopped as he pressed the button and he looked at you, not the least bit hurt. Just looking.... baffled. Baffled that you didn't want to explore this.
You sigh and step over the bucket to him. "Look, I.... I'll think about what you said. Really. But tonight just isn't the night...."
Eddie's face softened. He knew the kind of day you'd had at work. Customer service was hell and after more than one panic attack because of it that day, well.... it was the whole reason he'd offered to smoke at his place that night. He wanted tonight to be relaxing and fun for you. Now he understood it wasn't the time to treat you like a guinea pig. It was time to treat you like his friend.
He smiled comfortingly at you. "Alright, alright... I'm sorry. You're right, tonight's not the night." He agreed, then wrapped an arm around your shoulders to lead you to his bedroom. "But one day, it will be.... Let's forget our worries, shall we?"
"Gladly."
............
Your feet crunched on stray gravel as you passed your garage on your way home from the work day. The large door was open and you paused a moment as you spotted a bucket out. It was full of water and soapy suds. Your family must've caved in and paid that kid down the street to hand wash their car for them. Leave it to the 10 year old to leave out the bucket for someone else to clean up.... That wasn't your first thought looking at it though. Your mind went back to the other night with Eddie and how excitedly he'd put a bucket in front of you to drum on.
Hm.... Maybe you could try it.... it wouldn't hurt. Your house was pretty far from anyone else's out in the rural area of Hawkins, so they would only hear faint banging in the distance. You shrugged. Guess today was the day.
You dumped out the bucket into the grass, suds fanning out, then took a seat on a bench in the driveway. The bucket in front of you, you thought for a moment. You didn't own any drumsticks... turning, you glanced behind you at the wall of tools set up. A couple screwdrivers would have to do.
After swiping the tools, you then put your headset on and hit play on the tape inside your walkman. Immediately, Where Eagles Dare started thrumming in your ears and you smiled. You loved the quickness of this song.
The screwdrivers started moving, beginning in small taps as the pattern of the drums started coming back to you. Soon, the makeshift drumsticks were swinging, hands holding the wrong ends, and you could hear yourself beating the bucket through the headset.
At first you didn't care if you were in time or not. It was fun to let out all your frustration and built up tension from the day by beating a bucket to death. But then what Eddie had said started to make sense.... you were keeping in time with the song, drumming the intricate beat exactly. The smile on your face only grew the longer you went on, closing your eyes and playing song after song after song on your mixtape. It was exhilarating.
After what must've been 15 full minutes of nonstop drumming, sweat on your brow and arms aching, your headset was suddenly yanked off. You gasped and looked up, expecting to see your mother there to scold you for making so much noise.
Instead, there stood Eddie, a huge grin on his face. You look over to see his van in the driveway. How long had he been there?
"See, kid, I told you!! I knew you'd be able to do it! I knew you were a drummer!! Oh we gotta call Garette and have him show you his drum set, he's going to be so psyched to show you the ropes!" He exclaimed, dropping your headset in your lap and jumping up and down in front of you like a child at the zoo.
All you could do was smile back at him, surprised at yourself and blushing horrendously. Bless Eddie.... if not for him, you would havenever figured this out about yourself.
Speechless and needing to hide your reddened cheeks, you lept up and embraced Eddie tightly. Full of joy, he returned the favor, picking you up and spinning you around, happily chanting "I knew it, I knew it, I knew it!!"

Happy Birthday Dethday, Toki!
I've been busy this week so I tried to whip out something real quick for the best boy's birthday! 🎂🌈
Happy Birthday Toki, you make my world a better place 🩷
Tumblr media
Birthdays weren’t exactly celebrated in the Wartooth household, so Toki didn’t know they were supposed to be important. He never received a cake for it, or even a congratulations from his parents. He didn’t have friends, either, so it’s not like someone else could’ve celebrated for him.
Birthdays were just another regular day as far as he was concerned, and that’s exactly why he had no idea when his was. So, when Charles asked him, a few days after joining Dethklok, he panicked and went with the first date he could come up with. September 1st.
Later on, he realized that he had seen that date on a movie displayed on the big TV screens displayed by an old store, right across the alley Toki used to sleep in. The children were happily going back to school to reunite with their friends. It was September 1st.
He couldn’t imagine it being that important, so he quickly forgot he ever gave that information. Nor did he think it would be relevant in the future.
“Toki! Hey, Toki!” Someone shook him violently. “Toki, wake up!”
“Mmh?” Toki turned around in a daze. “Pickle?”
“We’re late, Toki!” Pickles said, seemingly stressed. “Get up already!”
“L-Late?” Toki sat up and grabbed his pants. “Lates for whats?”
“The…The show!” Pickles urged him with his hands.
Toki glanced at the clock in his room. “But it’s-”
“Just huhrry up!” The drummer dashed to the hall and out of Toki’s sight.
“Wait, Pickle!” Toki put on the nearest t-shirt he found and followed him.
The apartment seemed near empty, which was weird because it wasn’t even 10 am. Because of their growing fame, they had moved to a new place in LA. It was more spacious than the Florida apartment and now everyone had their own rooms, but still you could hear what everyone was up to. Which made this silence even more ominous.
“Pickle?!” Toki called him, to no avail. Suddenly, he heard a scream coming from the living room. Freaked out, he ran towards the voice, hoping nothing bad had happened to Pickles.
When he walked into the living room, the words ‘Your time is up’ were written in thick, black letters on the wall. Whoever had written that, was still in the house because the ink seemed fresh. Horrified, Toki looked down to see Pickles’ body lying next to the message.
“Pickle!” He screamed and bent down to hold his bandmate. He seemed unconscious, was he even breathing? “Oh, no, Pickle…” Toki sobbed quietly.
He didn’t have time to grieve, because a couple of footsteps behind him chilled his blood. The subsequent creaking on the floor confirmed it, there was someone else in the room. And he was fastly approaching him. Toki felt his breath hitch and his heart about to burst out of his chest.
Slowly, he turned around but before seeing the face of the assailant he was splashed with a thick liquid. He screamed and closed his eyes as he awaited for the substance to melt his skin or something equally deadly. When a few seconds went by and he felt no pain, he opened his eyes.
“Huh?” He cautiously touched his face in fear and stared at his hands stained with red gooeyness. “Whats the-”
“Happy Birthday!” Several voices went off at once, prompting him to look up.
Murderface was right beside him, holding the empty bucket in his hands with a smile. Nathan, Skwisgaar by the table a handful of feet away, clapping in delight. Even Pickles, held between his arms, was cheering too.
Toki felt close to fainting.  “What ams…what ams goings on?”
“Its yous borfdays, dildos.” Skwisgaar said, with a smile. “Remembers?”
Like a hazy dream, Toki remembered giving the information to Charles. Right, so today was September 1st. Still, it didn’t explain this demented display. He looked at his completely ruined shirt, entirely lost.
“It’sch pig blood.” Murderface helpfully informed, with a grin. “Pretty brutal, right?”
Toki was bewildered. Blood? He splashed him with fucking blood?
“Dude, look at his face.” Nathan commented, told Skwisgaar. “He totally didn’t see it coming.”
“Tolds you, he wouldn’ts eggspekts dis.” Skwisgaar snickered back.
“Oh, yeah, Pickles, the pretending-to-be-dead bit was a really good touch.” Nathan said.
“Nuh, that was forreal.” Pickles pointed at the bottle by his feet. “I tripped. Behd.”
“Oh.”
Groaning, Pickles got up, leaving the speechless Toki crouched on the floor. “Come ahn, Toki.” He offered him his hand.
Toki grabbed it and Pickles pulled him on his feet. It happened kinda fast, though, so it left Toki feeling kind of dizzy.
“Check out the cake we made.” Pickles said.
“Yeah, it’s pretty fucking brutal.” Nathan agreed and Toki followed his stare.
There was a big black and white cake on the table, with a deformed thing on top that seemed to be his old Flying V. Red stripes decorated the sides and Toki assumed they were supposed to be blood.
“I deskigneds its.” Skwisgaar said with his chest puffed up. “You ams welkomes.”
“Tis ams for mes?” Toki pointed at himself.
“Well, ye!” Pickles patted him in the back, joyful. “Its yer birthdei, dood!”
“We schtill get to eat schome, though.” Murderface added, appearing on his other side.
“Wowee…” Toki was overwhelmed. “I…Is never…”
“Had such a brutal birthday celebration?” Nathan completed his sentence.
More like, never had anyone celebrating his birthday. He nodded with a smile. “Ja.”
“Obviouslies.” Skwisgaar said, putting a black cone with sloppily drawn skulls on Toki’s head. “Happies birthdays, eh, Toki?” He patted him on the shoulders.
Toki looked down, unable to process all the attention given to him on a day that, until moments ago, was just like any other for him. He really didn’t want to cry, because that wasn’t brutal, and he didn’t want them to see his flushed cheeks either, because that was embarrassing. “Thanks you…” He muttered, unable to meet their eyes.
There was a short-lived silence, because the others weren’t any more able to deal with emotional stuff either, until Pickles shouted. “Alright, get the alcohooool!”
While the rest dashed to the kitchen to get drinks, Toki wiped his eyes surreptitiously. Honestly, it’s not like they’d notice if he cried with all the blood he had on his face. He looked at his cake again and noticed the date written under the guitar.
Guess his birthday really was on September 1st.

Not All That Glitters is Gold Part 8
Hello! This story is just cruising on through. I'm about four chapters ahead now and I know it's weird to say with that much story left, I do feel like it's coming to a close.
Today we have Robin taking a bit of initiative regarding Steve's date to the Gala, Steve getting some fun jobs and Chrissy being cute.
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6 Part 7
@mira-jadeamethyst @rozzieroos @redfreckledwolf @emly03 @lingeringmirth
****
Robin arrived bright and early the next morning to find two very hungover omegas passed out Steve’s sofa, a bucket of mostly eaten glob of goo that was once ice cream, two wine glasses and three empty bottles of wine.
She looked down at the two of them and wondered if this was a pity party or a celebration, it really could have gone either way. She tidied everything away and got water and painkillers for Steve and Chrissy when they woke up.
She settled in a nearby armchair and went through Steve’s requests for his services. She quickly dismissed those on his black list. There were always those that thought the rules didn’t apply to them. She noted the new addition that Troy made and went through his notes on the matter. They were thorough and raised both eyebrows.
Robin knew that the omega escorts that were the cream of the Starcourt crop didn’t like Troy because he came off as a creep, but other handlers loved him. Because Troy was meticulous in his notes. Every person that spared more than a passing glance to Steve got a note. Because that was another thing that set Troy apart from other handlers.
He didn’t believe social events were hands off. Even Robin tended to spend it in the car with Xander unless it was a new client. But not Troy. He got dressed up and stayed on hand in case his omega needed to get out.
But that intensity was why he was only a substitute handler. Starcourt had yet to find an omega that could stand it for long periods of time.
Troy had catalogued every little god damned thing. From the mirco-aggressions from the guests toward the band, the meet-cute of the century, the posturing and bullying from the senator afterwards. He noted that he almost interfered twice.
Once when the alpha bullied his way to Steve’s side when he was talking to the drummer. An alpha who had on his arm a pretty male omega who was obviously his date.
The other was when Lombard had pulled Steve away from talking to Joyce Hopper, another congressman’s bondmate.
But each time, Steve was able to calm the raging alpha, so Troy stayed his hand. But Robin could tell from his notes it was a near thing both times.
Robin licked her lips slowly. She almost wanted to put Troy on Steve for his next event.
She didn’t like how everyone looked down on both Steve and the band. Both were gross separately, but together it raised some serious red flags.
She made a note to talk to Steve about it. His instincts were really good.
She then pulled up Steve’s job requests and wasn’t surprised to see that Senator Lombard was on it. She quickly declined it and sent of the usual black orchids and cutting note.
Usually Steve dictated the note, but Robin didn’t want him pulled back into black hole that was this asshole senator. Plus there was the fact that Steve had put him on the pre-check list and Robin had overridden that.
Succinctly put she sent:
I’m no one’s property.
S. Harrington
She went through the list looking for other black listed members to fob off their requests back to management where they would find someone else or black list them from the company all together.
She went back to her list and gasped and giggled when she saw not one, not two, but three requests that would make Steve giddy as fuck.
She did frown a little at the final request. She would have call him and work out all the specifics because it could cause a lot of problems if mishandled.
Steve would want to do it regardless, if Troy’s notes were anything to go by, but it was Robin’s job to make sure everything was fun for all those involved.
She called the number.
“Hello?” the sleep rough voice answered.
“Hello,” Robin said brightly. “I’m sorry if I woke you, but I’m Robin Buckley, Steve Harrington’s handler.”
She suppressed a grin as she heard him scramble to get up. He cleared his throat.
“Um, yeah,” he mumbled. “How can I help you?”
“Yes,” Robin said. “I saw you had some particular requests for your rut servicing and I wanted to ask some questions about that.”
“Oh!” he said with a grin. “I would be happy to answer any questions you have.”
They spoke for almost twenty minutes but at the end of it, Robin signed off on all three requests.
She was adding them to Steve’s schedule when the man of the hour raised his head from the sofa and blinked at her, sleep rumpled and cute.
Steve mumbled his good morning before padding over to the kitchen to grab a cup of coffee. Once he was sufficiently caffeinated he sat back down on the sofa, careful not jostle the still sleeping Chrissy.
“You two look like you had lots of fun,” Robin said with a big grin.
Steve flipped her off.
Chrissy raised her head and blinked bleary eyed at Robin. When her vision cleared, she squeaked and ran for the bathroom.
Robin raised an eyebrow, but Steve just shrugged. He wasn’t going to tell her shit about the omega’s crush on her.
“Troy left some pretty hair-raising notes about last night,” Robin said wagging her eyebrows, “by the way.”
He rolled his eyes. “Yeah? What about?”
“A hot rockstar alpha got the ultra professional Steve Harrington to scent in a room full of the elite on heavy scent blockers no less.”
Steve blushed. “The only thing I can think of is that I must have sweated straight through it.”
Robin cocked her head. “Or he was just that hot.”
He took a deep sip of his coffee and looked away.
“Which is why,” she said with a feral grin, “you’ll be happy to note that Eddie Munson has requested you three times for three separate events and three separate jobs.”
Steve straightened up. “There is no way.”
Robin wagged her eyebrows again.
“What did he want?” Steve asked, aiming for nonchalant and missing it by a mile.
Robin pulled out her tablet. “The first one is for next Friday. He wants to do a roleplay. One of your favorites, in fact.”
Steve was suddenly on the other side of the sofa, leaning into her space.
She laughed out loud. “Not the BDSM one, you animal.”
“As if!” Steve huffed swatting at her playfully.
“The meet-cute in crowded hotel bar that leads to sex,” Robin clarified.
Steve gasped, clasping his hands to his chest dramatically. “I haven’t done one of those in so long!”
“And he wants you to wear the dress from last night,” she said with a sly grin. She read the note directly from her tablet. “‘I want to see if the dress drops to floor the way you said it does.’ You want to explain that one to me?”
He blushed to the tips of his ears. “He was asking if it was hard to get in and out of.”
Robin cackled. “You sly dog. No wonder you burst through your scent blockers with a line like that one.”
Steve coughed and looked away. “What’s next?”
“The Grammy’s,” she said, looking back at her tablet. “He wants you to wear something black and slinky. Your choice on suit or dress.”
He raised his eyebrows at that one. Most of the time alphas wanted their dates to be wearing dresses to an event like the Grammy’s.
Instantly he had two outfits enter his head. The first was a short sheath dress with strappy heels and minimal jewelry. The second was tight leather pants, a black suit coat with a mess top underneath and ‘fuck me’ killer heels.
He licked his lips thoughtfully. He would send both to Eddie to see which one he’d prefer.
“Sounds like fun,” Steve said honestly with a small smile.
Robin smiled back. “The last one is a rut servicing with a couple of strange stipulations.”
Steve cocked his head to the side. “Like what?”
“He wants you to go on birth control, for starters,” she said.
Steve frowned. It wasn’t that unusual of a request. There had been more than a few clients who didn’t believe that all the omegas were infertile and wanted extra protections.
“And no barebacking,” she added with a wince.
“Now that’s just insulting,” Steve huffed. “I can’t pup. It’s an actual thing.”
Robin chewed on her bottom lip. “Look, I wouldn’t have agreed to it if I thought he was being an ass about it. You know I wouldn’t.”
He let out a long shuddering breath. “Did he say why?”
She nodded. “I even looked it up and there was this whole thing. But the TL;dr is that he shared a rut with a non-escort omega who said they were infertile and they weren’t. The female omega tried to get him on the hook for child support, but when they did a paternity test, it wasn’t his. So the court ruled in favor of Eddie, but it was a near thing.”
It was Steve’s turn to wince. Yeah, all right. He had to admit that if he had had that happen to him, he’d be triply sure too.
“Fine.”
“There are a couple other things I just need to go over with you,” she said, “and then you’re all good to go.”
Steve nodded.
“He wants to pay for you to play at being his boyfriend until after the rut servicing,” Robin said.
Steve’s eyebrows went up. “And management is okay with that?”
He had done the boyfriend thing a few times but never with someone as high profile as Eddie Munson.
“According to the notes on the request his new management and Starcourt went over all the details and it’s going to be great publicity for both the band and us.”
Steve frowned, rearing back his head in confusion. “New management? What happened to his old management?”
“Do you remember the creepy gang bang?” Robins asked with a blush.
Steve’s frown deepened. “Yeah, of course. The band was pissed and fired their management...” he said trailing off. “Holy shit!”
She grimaced. “Yeah. Their new manager is Benny Hammond. I can’t imagine what dealing with the other guy would have been like.”
They went over the rest of the stipulations and by the time they were done, Chrissy poked her head out of the bathroom. “Hey, Steve can I borrow some clothes? I got ice cream all down the one side. Somehow.”
Steve laughed. “Sure thing. You know the drawer to pick from. You take from anywhere else and I will hunt you down.”
Chrissy rolled her eyes. “I know, I know. The rest is for clients only. I’ve got the same set up in my place, you know.”
He just grinned at her.
She huffed and dashed to Steve’s bedroom with just a towel wrapped around her slender form.
He looked over at Robin, who was looking dis-repectively. He threw a pillow at her head and she squawked.
“May I remind you,” he said with a glare, “that you have a girlfriend now?”
Robin sighed. “I know, I know. But you know how I am around hot women, I can’t help but look.”
“I do,” Steve said, “but does Vickie?”
Robin looked down, visibly chastised.
Five minutes later, Chrissy came back out wearing shorts that would have barely covered Steve’s ass, but went down to a respectable length on her and a crop top that hung off one shoulder and again went to her waist.
“It’s really not fair,” Robin said throwing her arms in the air, “how you escorts can look hot in the most basic of clothes. Clothes that would look sloppy on anyone else.”
Steve and Chrissy shared a glance with a grin.
“It’s an art, darling,” Chrissy drawled, tossing her hair back seductively.
Steve giggled.
Chrissy kissed his cheek and waved goodbye to Robin and soon they were alone at last.
“All right,” Robin said, “tell me everything.”
He threw back his head and laughed. “Let me get another cup of coffee, and then I’ll spill the tea.”
“Deal.”

Oops! This is the chapter I realized I had Hopper as both a Congressman and management at Starcourt! Sorry about that. Hopper has been changed in the earlier chapter (not on here) to being Powell so that when I post it to AO3, it won't have the continuity error.

"To be loved is to be recognized as existing." However, what happens when the person you harbor feelings for reciprocates those feelings towards someone else? If you had known this would happened, would you have still loved them?

Tumblr media
Settling in 'Pelican Town' was never in your bucket list, but since you wanted an escape from the good ol' Modern Life, you decided to live in this small town within the house and farm that your grandfather had left as a gift for you. All was well. Meeting everyone was definitely a joyous activity and something you will never regret doing.
Not until you met him—Sebastian. At first, you never expected much from him. He was constantly caught up in work which had led him to the point were he only leaves his house occasionally. Initially, you didn't mind it, considering you were also busy tending to your own set of duties.
Sam would sometimes ask you to hang out at the Saloon, along with Sebastian and Abigail. These get-togethers brought you all closer, and soon enough, the four of you became great friends.
But you just had to ruin it.
There is truth in the common saying: Friendships have the potential to evolve into something deeper, particularly when you have a friend who is consistently there for you.
And of course, your heart just had to choose Sebastian.
Perhaps it was due to his endearing moments, like his fondness for frogs and his desire to take a break from the town with his motorcycle. Or maybe it was the way he looked at you, the way his gaze instantly made you flushed.
Or maybe it was because of how he looked at ... Abigail.
During the time you've spent here, you couldn't help but notice how Sebastian shows a special kind of gentleness towards Abigail. Sometimes, he actively seeks her out, and other times, you catch him lost in his own thoughts, only to quickly come back to reality as soon as she enters the room.
You couldn't lie to yourself. Abigail was gorgeous. Maybe if it wasnt for her love of consuming rocks, she could've had anyone swooning for her.
A gamer girl. A drummer. The life of every party.
You couldn't help but feel a pang of envy. The way Sebastian tended to her, the way his cheeks flushed in her presence, it was all so noticeable. You couldn't do anything about it, though. If only he knew that you noticed every little detail, every subtle interaction between them.
If only he knew you like him.
"Do you like Abigail?" You asked abruptly.
You and Sebastian were currently at the beach, looking at the clouds looming over the sea. The moment felt so intimate, but you knew this feeling was one-sided.
Sebastian's cheeks turned a shade of red, and you couldn't help but feel a surge of desire to be the reason behind his blush. "Maybe," he simply replied.
As he uttered that single word, it felt like a blow to your heart, but you held back any tears that threatened to escape. Perhaps it was because he was standing right beside you, or maybe it was because you were so used to bottling your feelings up.
You knew deep down that Sebastian's answer meant a resounding "yes," and it took all your strength to force a smile. "I hope she likes you back," you said, noticing how he nervously played with the hem of his hoodie as if he had been caught. His heart was clearly racing, and you could tell he was feeling all kinds of jittery.
"Yeah, I hope so," he responded.
It felt like your heart shattered right then and there. He liked Abigail. Probably more than that. Why can't he notice the pain in your eyes? Why can't he notice you at all?
But then again, who were you to ask for such an impossible thing?
