ive always related clegan to adrianne lenker’s music so much mostly because i read reverie (fave) while listening to her songs (and bawling my eyes out), i also hc that john got his heart broken when gale asked him to be his best man (obvious) but gale got his broken after hearing bucky’s response to his confession about being the last two b-17’s, because i feel like buck was clinging onto that last bit of hope that john could’ve said something or confessed something back, but ended up only being able to say same. he was definitely fighting demons to not say i love you though

also feel like thats part of the reason buck left bucky during the march, because he felt like there was no hope for them to ever be together and there was nothing he could do about it so he was trying to move on and became more focused to get back to marge, and bucky telling buck to go was his own way of trying to let go of gale too

im also not a writer in any way so please excuse the incoherent babbling

bucky who asks hesitantly “are you decent?” with furtive glances when they first moved in together postwar and sharing a space has felt raw and sacred to him because nobody else is around now so he gets quiet when gale prance around topless sometimes and completely unaware (couldn’t care less really it’s just bucky) with how bucky tries his very hardest to not stare too much because bucky doesn’t have an excuse to stare now when everybody used to because it’s gale the actual eye candy on the base and gale who answers almost as bashful “you can watch you know, nobody else is here” and there’s really that calm undercurrent of how indecent do you want me in that tone bucky swears it and that means something here bucky knows but isn’t really ready to face because yeah i can he thinks realising too late (right on time, bucky) he spoken it out loud because of course he can he sees it now how gale shifts uncertainly (hopeful, he’s hopeful) on his feet allowing it because of course you always can, john
