Hello! It's been awhile! I was the anon who talked about the alternate ending thing! Can I request some more Raire sweet head cannons? It doesn't have to be AU! It's been awhile since I've seen some!

!!!! Hi nonny! I remember you well!! Sorry I accidentally left this sitting in my ask box. I would love to make some Raire head cannons for you! It feels like it’s been awhile since I wrote for them, so I might be rusty! But I hope you enjoy!

I tried to get this done before Valentines Day was over, so some are kind of rushed oof.

While most papers and news sources would try to paint their relationship as ‘nothing substantial to them, it’s only for convenience and an attempt to see if they could have powerful offspring.’ Upon closer inspection, it’s far from that. Yes, in public they might seem cold and indifferent to each other, and quite possibly judgmental of those around them. But if one pays attention, you can notice that Ravus makes sure to always have at least one finger touching Lightning and she keeps him in check if he gets too irate by stepping slightly closer so her shoulder brushes against his arm, a subtle way to remind him that she has his back. A bit more noticeable is the way Ravus will look at Lightning when he thinks no one is watching, it may look like his normal annoyed expression, but in reality, almost everything about his facial features has softened at least a little bit.

Since they are a ‘royal couple’ Ravus and Lightning are expected to attend press conferences and council meetings. Often times they’ll tag in and out so the other can rest and regain their bearing. It’s signaled by a small squeeze of the hand if they’re standing, or a tap on the thigh if they’re sitting.

Ravus only ever refers to Lightning as ‘his/your queen’ (in the case of marriage) or ‘Lady Farron’ (in the case of just a relationship) in public. While he normally calls her just ‘Claire’, he feels like he shouldn’t say her name, as if to be a weakness or if he knows that she doesn’t like a lot of people knowing her true name.

Whenever there is a gala or ball, it’s often a means for everyone to socialize, and being the way Ravus and Lightning are, it’s often times Serah and Luna who have to physically pull them into a group and start talking. But they have this unspoken way of knowing where to meet up after they manage to slip away from whatever group their sisters put them into. It’s often times by the drinks where they might take a breather for a moment, but however, in order to truly stay away from another situation like that, Ravus will often times lead Lightning onto the dance floor and they actually have a good time dancing!

Adding on to them dancing, if there ever comes a time where someone tries to ask for the next dance with Lightning, Ravus will find some way to discreetly put them out of commission by either stepping down hard on their foot or ‘accidentally’ spinning and elbowing them in the stomach. Lightning calls him out for being petty and jealous, but she rather enjoys it when he does that.

They definitely pull the whole “Um, I’m exhausted/dizzy....” and then the other takes the hint and has the whole “Please, allow us to leave and retire to our room.” It’s a surefire way to escape from socializing.

Despite being a very stiff and formal couple in public, at home is when they are most at ease as you can often find Lightning on Ravus in some way, shape or form. Whenever they’re on the couch, she leans against him or will lay across his lap in whatever way she finds more comfortable. Ravus is no stranger to being close either, as sometimes he’ll come out of his study to find Lightning watching T.V, where he would then proceed to lean against the back of the couch and prop his head up on his hand as he tries to figure out what she’s watching, and alternatively, why she’s watching it. He also happens to be a criminal of falling asleep with his head on her lap, Lightning just turns on the tv or picks up a book at that point to preoccupy herself with as she plays with his hair.

While working on papers, it’s not uncommon to see Lightning sitting on top of Ravus’ desk as he writes, enjoying the rhythmic scratch of pen on paper. They also engage in a little small talk, but since Ravus is occupied, it’s a rare occurrence, they just like spending time together.

Sparring session between the two are hardly uncommon, and it’s how they sort out most of their arguments. It’s honestly amazing how fluid their movements can be as they’ve learned to easily block and parry the other until they’re at an impasse and exhausted. The first time they sparred was rather messy and ended up with Ravus getting hit hard in the stomach, that argument was swiftly forgiven as Lightning immediately felt remorse as the poor man could not stop coughing.

Lightning’s little pet names for him are; “Rave, Nox and Rav.” while Ravus’ hardly shorten her name with his flowery extra af talk of “Clarity, beloved and my princess/queen.” Lightning has been known to pull a little “My king.” in, just to turn that man bright red and quickly look away. Lightning likes to hug Ravus from behind and just press her forehead against his back, which makes him smile although she’ll make excuses like ‘shut up, I wanted to squeeze something.’ which as no effect on Ravyoli. Ravus also gives hugs from behind, sometimes unexpectedly as he’s been the recipient of many a slap/punch to the face before Lightning realized who it was. When he gives one without a reaction from Lightning, he’ll often follow up by leaning forwards and resting his chin on her shoulder.

Tiptoes kiss. I’m pretty sure I’ve said this before, but Lightning has to stand on her tiptoes to kiss Ravus, or pull him down by that extra collar he wears all the time. Even his casual shirts are probably collared. Ravus also has to lean down to kiss her and he’ll often remain as such afterwards and simply rest his forehead against hers. 

Common sleeping positions would be either one resting their head on the others chest, it’s usually Lightning since Ravus is afraid of flattening her, but if he’s had a long day, Lightning will basically pull him onto her. On cold nights they basically sleep intertwined, with Lightning almost engulfed by Ravus.
