I realized as I was making this, some of the little stuff probably only makes sense to me, and maybe people who have been following me for a while atp. So I wanted to explain some of the little details I included cause I really love them!!

First of all, I wanted to incude my original sketch for this(from like 5 hours ago lmfao), bcs I find it sooooo cute. Look at him!! Little guy!

I. Fernando's Gift

This is of course a reference to the Fernando teddy bear, but more specifically to the vettonso comic with the bear I drew a while ago. As you can see from my sketch, this is the first gift I came up, which I'm pretty happy about!! It's always so cute to me no matter its form. Though...I don't think teddy bears existed yet in the early 1700s, but Fernando found a way, okay? I like to think Fernando is all gruff in the beginning, but gives Seb this or something similar and remarks "to keep you company when I'm back in Spain," and then he has to pretend he has food poisoning rather than living with having said something so sappy.

II. Mark's Gift

I don't think this is really a reference to any specific post of mine. Dog!Mark is just an important Mark characterization in general, but especially in boy king au where he is really reduced to the status of dog by virtue of his upbringing and vocation. He definitely plays this off as wanting Seb to get another hunting dog(something he advocates for often. Seb knows it's entirely self motivated but loves to humor him bcs its cute to see how much he loves dogs. Well Seb loves dogs too, one dog in particular-)

III. Jenson's Gift

AAAAHHHH I'm so proud of this one bcs of how many leves there are to it!! I couldn't for the life of me think of what Jense would gift him but then I remembered I characterize him as horse obsessed(read: ye olde carfucker.) So this is basically the ye olde version of him getting Seb ultra detailed minatures of his cars. HOWEVER this is also a callback to one of my favorite posts I've ever made, back when I translated Seb's car names into Latin. So it was fun to actually get to canonize that in a way. ALSO! BTW! Those horses are specifically Lipizzans, which are a very iconic horse breed in the Habsburg Empire and Vienna specifically. A horse breed sought after by the Habsburgs for both war but also riding schools, and they still remain as the breed of horse trained in Vienna's Spanish Riding School today. The emperor Seb is based on comissioned the school's main riding hall, and his portrait still hangs above where the riders enter. So I thought that was a fun little easter egg to include!

Also the characterization in this is so funny. I guess I'd consider them a polycule, like they're a unit and all have interesting relationships between each other. But one of the main focuses is the kinda love triangle between sebmarknando. Like Mark and Fernando constantly fighting for Seb'cs undivided affection and attention. But as per usual, Jenson, who is on the sidelines, swoops in effortlessly with the most perfect gift ever. I feel like he understands and gets along with Seb the best out of the three, but just doesn't want to deal with such a complicated thing so he's satisfied being a bit distant(he secretly takes a lot of joy one-upping the other two. It's impossible to not crave your ruler's attention, no?)

so this is going to be rambly and probably will not make sense but stay with me. here's some facts/background info about danny and lee!! but first: there's their designs since i. never shared those.

NOW onto the lore *explosion*

danny!!:

- real name is "daniel sawyer," though he's most commonly known as danny (or dan)

- 19 years old

- the 3rd of jodi's brothers & the closest to her in age.

- he and jodi were inseparable as children.

- he's also the closest one of her siblings to her in general. he and jodi spent the most time together (since there was a greater age gap between their older brothers & them)

- danny has rbf & constantly gets asked if he's angry or upset (he's not. his face just looks like that) however, the only time he genuinely smiles is when he's around kent & lee (more lee than anyone 🥺)

- you probably guessed this from context clues but danny is a closeted gay guy (the only people who danny WILLINGLY told this are lee, kent, and jodi.) [his earring is also an homage to this & is a reference to the 1970's concept of the "gay ear" where having a certain ear pierced to allow other people to understand your sexuality. typically it's the right ear, however it looks like it's in his left because of the way the image is oriented]

- prefers "cool" colors (like green/blue)

- has stubble along his chin/lower half of his face & has more "angular" features & a straight nose along with prominent worry lines between his eyebrows

- he's almost constantly worried (and with good reason, have you met kent and lee??) and often prefers to keep himself

- incredibly neat & tidy

- sharing the "middle child" role with his older brother, danny and said brother were often over looked & this caused danny to become very self reliant (and even one of the main care takers of jodi when he was old enough)

- danny has a strong sense of justice & feels a need to stick up for the "underdog" - it's how he made both of his friends.

- however, when danny first arrived at the army camp, he didn't have anyone looking out for him. everything was going fine until the usual changing routine occurred . danny was immediately embarrassed and turned a bright shade of red. unfortunately, his stammering was noticed by none other than ray & (this behavior was typically frowned upon publicly at the time) received some very nasty comments - most of which were taunts & jokes relating to him being a quote unquote "penis sniffer" <- rays own words btw . he could handle the jokes and would simply shrug them off. what he couldn't handle, however, was the influx of slurs that seemed to follow.

- since this incident, danny made it his life's mission to leave the soldiers quarters before everyone else so he wakes up extra early & changes to avoid more embarrassment or harassment.

- when new recruits joined & began receiving similar awful treatment from ray, danny stepped in & put an end to it.

- by the way the "last time" danny refers to in the chapter about kent's arrival refers to lee's arrival (ill touch more on that later)

- danny lived in the city his entire life & likely ran into kent before they officially met, though neither would remember it.

lee!!

- real name is "vincent leegland" but he's most commonly known as "lee" or "leegland"

- 19 years old

- is named after his father, whom he dislikes, and absolutely hates being called "vincent" or any variation of the name

- his father left when lee was about 5 years old, leaving lee in the care of his mother (and later his grandmother once his mother remarried.) lee doesn't have the best relationship with either of his parents & was primarily raised by his grandmother.

- he has faint vitiligo & it can mostly be seen around the corner of his mouth & the entirety of his right eye

- he has dimples!!

- he has a broken nose (from being incredibly clumsy) and it's permanently crooked because it never set properly. lee is self conscious of this fact & often wears a bandage to cover it.

- chronically late & the clumsiest person on earth. covered in more bruises than you can count.

- lee arrived a week after danny & a year before kent.

- his arrival was quite similar to kent's, with the taunting and whatnot, but lee had attempted to write to his grandmother (whom he calls his oma due to her german heritage) & ray was not having it. so, danny decides to step in, and essentially tells ray that harassing other people didn't make him "more manly" and ray responded "like you'd know anything about that" to which danny replied "oh yeah? if you're so big and manly, then kiss anyone in this room" (<- room full of other male cadets) and ray went so pale and was like fine i'll leave him alone just get away from me.

- lee is a social butterfly btw . he loves people & he loves making friends.

- lee was instantly like woaw.... he's so cool... and introduced himself to danny. danny called him "vincent" and noticed lee cringed & asked him if there was anything else he'd like to be called. lee didn't have any nicknames that didn't correspond to that name (most commonly being called vin or vini by his grandmother) and shook his head no sadly. danny then suggested they take part of his last name (leegland) and eventually the nickname "lee" popped up and lee liked it much better than vincent. it stuck & lee couldn't be happier

- he was grateful to put the name behind him & with it, the memories of his father

- lee looked at this situation as a way to get a "new start" and a way to separate himself from his past.

- we know danny is from the city, but where is lee from? and the answer: he's from calico desert. his grandmother originally owned the oasis (the og "sandy", though it was spelled "sanndi" so to speak) & lee moved in when he was a small child, living there with his grandmother until her unfortunate death when lee was 18

- the death of his grandmother is what actually lead to his enlistment. he didn't have anywhere else to go and was now technically an orphan, so he asked the desert trader & learned about the ferngill republic's military.

- he is semi fluent in german (as that was the language his oma often spoke in when asking him to do things)

now some joint/misc things that i thought would be fun to add in:

- the two instantly became best friends, despite danny's introverted personality

- danny actually realized he had developed feelings for lee in a game of truth or dare:

it was with the other members of cabin five - about a month or two before kent's arrival, so danny & lee had known each other for almost a year at this point

w hen it was danny's turn, it was ray who decided to ask him the question. ray, being ever the bigot he was, decided to remove the option of "truth" entirely and asked danny "dare or dare".

danny protested, saying it wasn't fair, but eventually gave up when it was clear there would be no getting through to ray.

the dare was intended to be another jab at danny's sexuality (he had already come out to lee at this point) and ray ultimately wanted danny to chicken out & leave the game (he did NOT like danny at all)

after making danny choose dare, ray said something similar to the phrase danny had used earlier "kiss anyone in this room. unless you're not man enough, sawyer." & obviously danny was like wtf no??

but he knew that this meant he would leave the game - as they had a "do it or forfeit rule". however, lee wasn't having any of it. lee actually answered every question & did every dare asked of him, and enjoyed playing the game, but he didn't want to be a part if danny wasn't, yk, for solidarity reasons. so, as danny was getting up to leave the circle, a bright idea popped into lee's head.

"hey, dan?" lee asked as he grabbed danny's wrist, stopping him in his tracks before he could get too far away

"yeah..??" <- a very confused danny who was fine with leaving the game

"here you go." before grabbing danny's collar and pulling him into a kiss without thinking. what crossed lee's mind was simply that he wanted danny to have fun & continue playing, no matter what had to happen. lee promptly returned to the game and left a very stunned (and light pink) danny to his own devices.

obviously, having technically fulfilled his dare, danny was allowed to continue the game & lee even convinced them to implement a rule that banned anything like that from happening to avoid any further embarrassment. needless to say, danny was quite confused and also very grateful to lee that day.

- later, danny found himself thinking about it and soon realized his face began to heat up everytime he thought about lee.

- he actually confronted lee about it later, but was met with a wide smile (one that revealed lee's dimples) and a simple "i just wanted you to keep playing. you were having fun, danny. i wasn't going to let ray ruin that!" lee's caring nature & those dimples seemed to captivate danny .

- lee, of course, did not realize this or understand the effects of his action. after all, the only "kisses" he received were smothering cheek and forehead kisses from his grandmother, so lee associated them as "something you do to someone close to you" (lee is also demiromantic, i might add. which is probably why he didn't realize he was developing feelings for danny when he did. he just thought he really enjoyed his company and then slowly realized he enjoyed kent's company, but in a drastically different way)

- lees eyes are brown with green flecks & danny's are greyish blue btw that might be hard to tell from the image

but the main thing is people are always going to be like this in fandom . it’s a form of parasocialism in believing that we as viewers can understand the inner workings of our idols from ‘knowing them’ through the screen and coming to ‘recognise’ what we see as behavioural markers . happens all the time that’s why we end up with prominent shipping and rpf cultures in a lot of fanbases bc of our interpretation of how people interact with one another .

it can become obsessive for people, the majority of fandoms i’ve been in have been centred around real people and the subject of ‘truthing’ comes up a lot- the strict determination of a trait or personality of a person based on a second hand perspective of them, where the f in rpf is made redundant and people start to genuinely believe their headcanons of a person are applicable to their real life person . larry stylinson is knocking at the door .

because of parasocial and truthing behaviours peoples perception of drivers becomes tilted on what will best fit the subconscious narrative they are building- lando for instance i believe doesn’t deserve the mass hatred of mischaracterising as an awful person he’s been getting this season. nothing has changed between this season and the last except for the number of wins under his belt .

last year people felt the same hostility towards max . a few years ago it was lewis . its the relationship to our drivers as a competitor that’s changed . and those that pose a bigger threat receive the harsher penalties to their character .

it’s not an issue with carlos fans . it’s not an issue with lando fans or max fans or charles fans or anyone . it’s an issue of parasocialism that’s prevalent in every fandom for every character ever . we see it more for these drivers because they are top 5 drivers and they have larger fan bases . none of us are the big bad .

sometimes it feels like us vs them and i’ll tell you first i felt that way at the start of the season because genuinely i was being flooded with carlos hate in my asks and people posting the most insane negatively parasocial conspiracy theories about carlos having paid out the media to talk about him as if he didn’t just win a grand prix 2 weeks after surgery and be one of the most valuable drivers on the market for 2025 (i still get heated about that bc it was just plain disrespectful) . and yeah it did feel like it was carlos fans vs the lecfosi . because sometimes we let it be .

we build these insanely negative parasocial relationships with drivers and it consumes us. i’ve had to block ferrari fans for constantly posting carlos negativity and no doubt charles fans have had to block some carlos fans for constant driver negativity. lando fans will have gotten death threats over a race result even though that’s an insane thing to do and so have oscar fans .

everyone is annoying all the time we all annoy each other with our parasocial truthing of drivers personalities and the only way it’s actually going to change is if

1) we all take a step back to analyse our own behaviours and how we engage with negative parasocial behaviour

2) we stop making call out posts of ‘x drivers fans are so annoying’ because all it’s doing is reinforcing the narrative we want to build

What are your favorite visual novels? And Otome?

I prefer dark/taboo stories so most of what I'll mention is filled with it. I might've forgotten some cause I pulled this out from what I can still remember:

Rondo Duo -> Nukige yuri/futa, porn with plot. Considered as the most impressive artwork out there, everything is animated through flash. The plot revolves around this half french half japanese girl who was raised by an overly religious father, constantly chastising her and presumably being blamed for being a woman as they are considered an enemy of god for seducing men into sinning.

She encounters a demon who teaches her to experience sexual acts for the first time and the rest is history. She moves into Japan with her mother and goes to an all girls school and decided to corrupt them and introduce the act of sexual depravity.

Euphoria -> Nukige, porn with plot. Extreme content but amazing story, despite the things it depicts, it is actually a love story. It's about 7 people, 6 women and 1 man trapped in this facility and they are forced to commit extreme sexual acts with the mc just so they can escape this place, the more you choose the same participant, the sadistic it gets. It tackles the hidden nature of a person and encouraging this sadistic nature out in the open despite the mc not wanting to.

if you can stomach what this vn churns out then feel free. I don't like the majority of the fetishes this game has, the mc needs to fucking wash his dick and the two girls you can choose are useless from a plot stand point, you are better off pursuing the three women instead as they are more relevant.

Butterfly Affection -> Created by the same creator of Teaching Feeling. You find a strange creature in the middle of the road and you decided to bring it home and take care of it. Throughout the game, the creature will start to become more humanlike.

Boyfriend To Death Series -> Not a dating game, this is a survival vn where you try to escape from a bunch of psychopaths. Depending on what kind of survive you plan to do, you can straight up give yourself stockholm syndrome, etc. It is was entertaining, it scratched a need for more dark games.

Determinable Unstable -> Created by the same creator of Teaching Feeling. You encounter a creature named fear in the forest in an attempt to visit your grandfather's grave, the curiosity overtakes you eventually and try to communicate with her. You can customize her, but idk if this has been completed.

Sayonaro wo oshiete/Teach me how to say goodbye -> Nukige, porn with plot, infamous denpa horror. I also consider this as one of the best for it's story. You are a man who is just starting to be a teacher in this all girls school but one day you encountered a girl who you call an angel and start to have thoughts of her being violated.

Throughout the story, you're mostly trying to figure out what's real and what's not as you will suddenly get into a H scene and then it will return back to normal the next. The mc is schizophrenic btw, says and thinks the most outlandish things. There used to be an english translation but the elite bullied the guy who did it because it was not up to their standard in regards to capturing this game's wording.

Katawa Shoujo -> One of the classics out there, it is about pursuing a romantic relationship with a bunch of disabled girls and you, the player, is a young man who just recently found out he has a heart condition and is transferred to this school after trying to confess your love to a girl. It made me tear up.

Saya No Uta -> Nukige, porn with plot. Well known eldritch romance horror, you are a man who just got into a car crash and now suffer from a strange condition where everything around you smells and look like meat. He is unable to function through everyday life to the point that it's affecting his previous relationships negatively till he met a girl named Saya. In spite of his surroundings only she looks normal as he clings to her for sanity sake.

Minikui Mojika No Ko/The Ugly Duckling -> Nukige, porn with plot. This is more dark and about revenege than anything out there, it deals with a deformed young man who is bullied for his appearance at school and was lured by a female classmate into thinking he was getting confessed at, he eventually snaps and assaults her. What they don't know is that he has telephatic powers since at the very young age and it is part of the plot. What I like about this VN is that it has impressive animation effects, like the words floating around every character to give you insight on what they really feel and the entirety of it is just you looking down their feet most of the time, making you disassociate with the world.

There is no translation but let me give you a bit of it:

There is a monster in this vn. Yes. It is very unique.. It is a large, sentient dick. A long time ago, there was this overly lustful monk, and was said to have seduced the empress and chased out by the soldiers, but his manhood was too big and so decided to cut it. After that, the locals decided it'd be a great idea to deify this large rod as they claim it brings good fortune and medicinal properties and started a cult out of it. This gigantic member gives blue aphrodisiac when they give it a sacrificial maiden, but they found it too taxing and so made a group of their own maidens through inbreeding so they can toss the children they birth out to this deity.

The MC and one of the main interests are inbred. And only through this bloodline are they able to gain this power called Mojika(Mind Reading). My gripe with this one is that the MC keeps repeating himself, making it a slog to read through.

Morenatsu -> You know what this is about, I don't need to explain it. It has a good story and it really gives off that nostalgic and isolated village feel where you are an outsider of it. My only gripe is the bad ends which seems to be out of character for even the mc and feels out of nowhere, also fuck Kounosuke.

Kana Little Sister -> Eroge, incest. An emotional story about a forbidden romance between a brother and his sick sister. The H scenes are mostly towards your girlfriend and there is only one for Kana but it is optional. It changes the ending but it's not a requirement, really.

As for the otome games, here:

Cancel A Format -> Fanmade game for hetalia, you play as a girl with amnesia in a private island where a school is set in. It is where all the country personifications go to as cultural exchange and alliance forming. You are pretending to be a guy out of fear of being targeted for being a girl and enroll there. Mostly crossdressing and misunderstand hijicks ensues, it also has the saddest routes because my eyes constantly hurt afterwards.

Girlish Love Revolution -> Yes. This is a dieting otome game, I hold it up in an esteem way. This was also one that lets you get together with your actual brother, blood relative, and he is the best route. There is already an english translation for it's DS version. I got the hardest guy to get in the game on my first try.

Hatoful Boyfriend -> Pigeon dating game, no ironic shit. This is peak. Once you've finished all the routes, you will unlock the true route and this is where this vn is heralded as one of the best.

Kuni No Alice Series -> I've also mentioned this before, this is unapologetically problematic and we are all here for it. Alice in wonderland themed, while I want to explain to you the plot, it's other sequels don't seem to follow it and has turned into something episodic. The gist is that this entire world is a game, those with roles and those who don't have them. Go play the original if want to learn more, it already has a fan translation.

The men are filled with red flags and Peter is the superior husband because he has mud on his ears and don't listen to anything you say.

Monochrome Heaven -> Do not let the art style fool you, this has the most interesting plot line out there. Even the bad endings hold information for you to piece together what's happening and their relationships. I highly recommend this one.

You are an orphaned girl selling matches till a man approaches you, he takes you home to make you his wife within a limited time. If you fail, he will kill you so while you're in the house, you'll learn things about the family and why the men there seems to die so young.

Not spoiling the plot twist but it is episodic, some connecting but has it's own story where fairytale characters have been genderbent for a good reason and the only one who isn't is this mysterious guy named Alice.

The Men Of Yoshiwara Series -> In a remote island, men and women have switched roles, the men in this island are born as courtesans and live in brothels while the women are free and work, they only go to these brothels to bear children. Despite the wonky translation, the story is very good and the characters are memorable. Every character has their own story, it has bittersweet endings in most of them and it has made me tear up.

My favorite is Kikuya but Ohgiya has the better translation between the two. In my opinion, this all in the matters of taste so if you prefer the men in Ohgiya then go for it, my man is in Kikuya so I am obliged to prefer that one.

TMGS/Tokimeki Memorial Girls Side -> I've said this on the previous ask, it is in fact, one my favorites. There is already a translation for the three games.

2. Favorite canon thing about this character?

The fact that he's ambidextrous is really really amazing as a character. Not only he wields two weapons but also can constantly switching between right and left handed side in the midst of a battle.

And I be honest, the fact that Monsta keep that movie 1 white hairline glitch as canon is what people called a "Serendipity" or happy accident. Another serendipity glitch in animation media for me is the iconic nose touch scene from httyd 1.

Who knew this bug could become his sole identity? It doesn't lesser his image but it does made 10x better as the result of a genetic mark within generations. Thus it creates "the Butterfly Effect" in designing Amato and adult Tok Aba.

In sense, Oboi become a shonen character since child with that look lol

I don't follow much with what happened to Boboiboy's fandom recently, still making me a headache whenever I visit, but I always appreciate when fandom united to correct blatant hoaxs. It's often surprised me.

Since I only made headcanon for elementals, I think it's not fair that the real main protagonist has not yet get his headcanon. My bad :p

Oboi may or may not able to make a clear communication with Amato after all these years and I have two scenarios:

If Tok Aba still alive, Oboi might be more comfortable and more open to Tok Aba about his daily life rather than Amato. He still talks to him, but struggles to keep up a simple conversation from both ways, and eventually Oboi starts to make excuses to end it by "Helping Atok at his shop".

If no. 1 doesn't happens, Oboi might a bit cold to Amato at first. He try so hard to avoid any conversations with him and just focus on continuing the Kokotiam Shop as an escape route.

One of my questions regarding him, "How does he remember every events during split/fusion/3rd tier?" My deduction to this headcannon is this: firstly after he wakes up all memories will be blur due to his dizziness in the aftermath. He might remember some of it but his brain is not yet fully capable to comprehend all of it quickly. Then, all those event will be shown during his sleep. It sometimes disturbing his sleeping schedule and wakes up abruptly in the middle of night from a lucid dream.

Idk why, but between Audio sensory, Visual sensory and Action sensory Learning technique. Oboi is the person who learn and solve problems by practice it in real time. He may not the guy who absorb a quick information, but when he tried to think about it, he implements his thoughts by action such as moving hands or walks around. (I onced very obsessed with psychology especially with self learning types during my high school days but now I forgot most of them lol)

I have a group of new york friends (I live in cali) who I spend a lot of time with, we play games together, watch movies and all that stuff. we're even planning a group trip soon and I really want to meet them. Him living in new york would be really hard. but he's a nice guy and I have a lot of fun with him so I agreed to a 'date' so we had a valentines date over video call and discord. and while I like him, I just don't think I felt the same and again, I really did NOT want to do a long distance relationship. so I turned him down and things were okay for awhile. Then a couple weeks past and I had mentioned that I went on a date with someone (i did NOT enjoy the date btw) but it set him off and he needed some space. which I totally get and understand!!

so back to now I don't really remember what mended our friendship but we were close again and have been for a few years now. Prrrreetty much same premise as this one, except Yomi doesn't get booted out the company and it's just Yuma wandering around (alone) (fucking loser) until he accidentially ends up somewhat benefiting the peacekeepers with his instakill torment labirynth powers when he uses it once after arriving in KW in front of them and now he's stuck working for the guys if he wants to keep his spleen. Nobody has any fucking idea about him having a pact with a shinigami of course (most of them thinks its some extremely op forte. they do have other theories though. some of them scarily close), but all Yomi has to know from his Polite Interrogation is that if Yuma can stop time to solve any mystery and if he succeeds the culprit drops dead. He has lost his only hitman so far just a few days ago (F.Zilch/Aide rip in fucking rest) so Yuma sounds like a great deal and a decent replacement, especially with his killings being instant leaving zero marks -- while he won't ever truly replace Aide as one of his closest advisors and the person he was to him, (and Yomi will never hesistate to scream at him about it every single day) (but he still simultaneously treats him like one, why couldn't you act more like that dead guy that really liked me that you will never be like no matter what you do, you know his death matches what you did to that other guy right when we first found you? if you really did kill him too which I already made up my mind about you must really make up for that sin by filling in the hole he left which you can never do by the way, and by acting like you can would be insulting his memory (and me) almost as much as it would if you didn't even try, anyway here's your paycheck for this week *hands him 30000 shien which makes Yuma feel slightly better*), as long as he can keep killing people and being such a pleasure to have at meetings (but be careful!). The Yomigami au I also posted about earlier where essentially Yomi is Shinigami and you will never ever in a million years guess who the director is instead. Originally a joke but then I started thinking and as you know this is usually where it all descends downhill into the madness. Anyaway canon Shinigami was morbid already and had a morality far removed from humans, Yomi/gami is just cranked up to 100 with all this and sprinkle some sadism on top. He purposefully drags Yuma out every day to get involved in as many cases as possible until he just has no choice but to enter that labirynth (fun bonding activity). Yomi/gami is also EXTRA against Yuma working for the resistance in that one chapter, he really really really hates criminals and poor people and especially poor criminals dohya's so scary guys let's go Kokohead let's leave this pit :(((((( anyway putting all the funky labirynth details I got aside as to not make this too long, canon Shinigami already was pretty lonely (in that book (gay baby jail) for an ambiguous amount of years) before but in her own way focused on what's best for Yuma's growth as a detective even if they'll have to part ways eventually. Yomi/gami is not like this even if he doesn't act like he cares abt Yuma he's not just gonna let him leave so he can rot in the book in total isolation again just a few weeks after he got out of it. He does everything in his power to impede on Yuma's progress and get him as far away from the reason he came there for so their contract will last longer he's latching on he's a parasite he's lonely. He would NEVER suggest to Yuma that he can stay in the labirynth in chapter 5, he HAS to reap Makoto's soul there is no other option. And if Yuma did by any chance choose to do so anyway, Yomi/gami is absolutely not letting him take the emergency exit he'd rather let him die in there than to let him leave and just move on without him and forget he existed at all lmao. You could go anywhere you want to see others like you and have anyone you could desire I only have you do you really hate me so much you can't stand to know me any longer is that why you're so eager to abandon me the first chance you get. Funny that you describe Shawn and Bret as toxic in the 90s when they were actually friends for most of the 90s, as confirmed by both men. It was really only in late 96-early 97 that things really went to shit between them. Taker has also been very open about how much he hated Shawn until much later…much like Bret. Taker did nothing in the public eye. He said in an interview, once they were friends btw, that he wouldn't piss on him if he was on fire. You wanna talk about kayfabe, which is what I focus on, hartbreaks kayfabe relationship is a lot more toxic than hbtakers. Multiple times during shawn and takers careers before they ever went on to fight each other, taker and shawn would constantly come to each others aid and even tag team a few times. Bret and shawn had what, one tag team and I'm pretty sure it wasn't aired? Or they took it off air or something. I can't remember. But their kayfabe relationship has always been toxic. Hell I mean bret tried being nice to shawn once, helping him when marty was interfering and shawn basically bit his head off. Taker helped him when goldust and Paul Interfered and shawn wasn't angry about it at all.

If I may be a little unhinged for a second (it's 1:30AM and I'm probably going to regret this tomorrow, full nightposting mode here):

A huge part of why Makima is so hot (ESPECIALLY to Chainsaw Man's target audiance) is because she plays to the desire to be desired in a way that isn't sugarcoated and that is honest about what being an object of desire is.

A lot of men who like women really deeply yearn to be objects of desire. Heterosexuality comes with some extremely strict gender roles. Part of that is the expectation that women are the desired and men are those who desire, at it's most extreme it reaches a point where it could even be said that it's almost a predator prey relationship (remember this).

BTW, I chose the word yearn because it's a desire that within the framework of normative heterosexuality is never fulfilled, and the lack of that is something that really fucks a lot of guys up (even though they won't admit it).

I swear to god this is all on topic just stick with me I'm getting there I promise.

If you look at a whole lot of the romantic and/or sexual wish fulfilment content aimed at (predominantly) straight men you'll see that almost all of it plays to the desire to be desired. Within just anime and manga alone this is a HUGE part of what has given decades of trashy harem garbage (whether it be the "comedy" of the 90's and 2000's or the mass produced Isekai of the modern era) a strong and ravenous audiance. This is also the entire gimmick of that entire collection of romcom anime/manga where the nerdy loner boy has a pretty nice girl randomly take an almost obsessive interest in him. I don't know what to call them but you know which ones I'm talking about. All these things exist to play to the deep (and often repressed) desire to be able to feel desired, to be an object of desire, to not have to play the romantic role society want's you to conform to.

But these works of unrealistic wish fulfilment are just that, and they depict a fantasy of what being an object of desire is like rather that the reality of being a person who is actually forced into that role. To be an object of desire is to be objectified, it is to be made into something to be chased, it is to have those who desire you attempt to take your freedom away, it is to be constantly at risk of violence.

Now we get to my point.

The character of Makima too exists as a form of wish fulfilment for the desire to be desired, but not in a sugarcoated way. In her character all the reality of being an object of desire is preserved. She desires Denji, but only as an object, a tool to satisfy her desires. She controls and manipulates him, she places him in a position where he is at constant risk of violence. The whole country mouse and city mouse part in Chainsaw Man has been analysed to death, but the fact that the cat in that story represents Makima is just another part of this. Denji is only able to defeat her because she fails to see him as a person, only seeing him as a tool.

This does not ruin the fantasy wish fulfilment though, in fact it only makes it stronger. Makima is shown constantly to be capeable of displaying both tenderness and incredible violence. You do not get to be desired without something to desire you, there is no becoming an object without something to objectify you, there can be no prey without a predator.

I should not need to explain to Tumblr users that sex and violence go together like salt and pepper, so I won't. This isn't even getting onto another thing Tumblr should know all about which is the sexual imagery of cannibalism. Don't forget that Denji literally has to eat her in order to defeat her. Also, do not forget that Denji explicitly states that despite everything he cannot make himself hate her, and if you are the target audiance of Chainsaw Man you probabaly can't either.

That's why she's hot. Some people think they get it and don't, while others are on the way, but are too focused on the surface level aesthetic of the violence she commits to gain deeper insight.

I'm not insane, Tatsuki Fujimoto has a fucking type, we know this about him. He has publicly talked about how he likes it when women are cruel to him before. This is not me being weird and horny, the author is being weird and horny, I'm just shining a spotlight on it. It's horny wish fulfilment done so well that normal people mistake the authors barely disguised fetish for a "compelling and well written villan". If you have the right worms in your brain the way she's presented is basically on the same level of subtlety as "big tiddy bimbo's in tight clothes". Keep in mind, the boys' thoughts are all from the Sengoku time, & Zakiko & Koku's are mostly Taisho, I just put Koku's human name to make it easier. This is all based on how they remember her when they were alive (If that makes any sense-) & also, these are mostly how I see them that aren't Yoriichi & Michikatsu, so you might see some headcanon personalities (The names are apparently canon, BTW) -------------------------------------------------

Sun hashira, Yoriichi Tsugikuni

Zakiko: "He's a really sweet guy. Kinda quiet for someone who can be so bright & sunny. I've known him & Michikatsu when we were teenagers, so we go way back. I was living with him & Uta when I outlived my parents after turning into a half-demon, & now it's mostly me. I miss him alot. I just wish some of the others didn't turn their backs on him when he failed to kill Muzan. It was out of his control, & they're acting like it was his fault. When it clearly wasn't."

Yoriichi: "I have never been more amazed by her abilities in all my days. My brother made a very smart choice training her. After Uta's demise, she provided a very reassuring sense of comfort. She just seems to get along with everyone she meets. From Sumiyoshi to the hashiras. She's alot braver than she thinks. I truly owe her for everything. She's one of the few that stuck up for me during my failures, & one of the few that kept in touch with me afterwards. She's a very sweet girl."

Zakiko: "I'm the closest to him than I am the rest of them. I used to be his Tsuguko after he saved me from a demon, since it was his idea so I could protect myself back then, & it just sorta stuck after that. Michikatsu: "I worry about her sometimes, even back in the Sengoku era. She was so worried & scared of her shadow back then, & now she's having a bunch of problems due to being a half-demon & the years catching up to her. She looks ill at times. But, she's just as kind as I remember her. She's the only one that's still here, & I'm glad to see her after so long. Even though I feel horrible for putting so much responsibilities on her when I abandoned everything. It's just nice to see she's still here & not as timid, as she was all those years ago."

Flame hashira, Enjuro Rengoku

Zakiko: "I know his descendent Kyojuro, so I've seen my fair share of flame breathing before. He just reminds me so much of Kyojuro– never complains, always positive, & super cool. Maybe that "Set your heart ablaze" mentality runs in the Rengoku family."

Enjuro: "She's the cutest thing ever! I always wanted to train her, but she's been Michikatsu's student for a while. Wonder how that's going. She's kind, friendly, compassionate, & just overall a sweetheart. No wonder Yoriichi & Michikatsu like her so much. But, I can't help but notice how lonely she can be most of the time."

Water hashira, Yusuke Mizuhara

Zakiko: "Yusuke, huh? He & I haven't talked as much as I wanted to, since our schedules were both nightmares. But, when I finally had a chance to, he's basically exactly like Tomioka. Although, he's not as distant & hard on himself as he is. So, yeah. He's a sweetheart."

Yusuke: "Shibata-San is an enigma. She's constantly fearing for her life due to the demons in the world, which is just as understandable as it is sad since she has so much potential. She's holding back alot, because she can't find it in her to seriously hurt them, as they used to be human, too. She can be so timid one day, & so abrasive the next. But, she talks to me whenever she has the time to. I really hope she doesn't die from gaining the demon slayer mark, she's very nice."

Thunder hashira, Shin Kamanari

Zakiko: "He's a sweet kid. He has a really hilarious sense of humor, he was so energetic, & he was just the definition of a gentleman. He & I would have these gossip talks all the time where we just rambled about anything we thought was worth talking about, & I loved seeing his shocked reactions when he heard something new. Guess that's why I look after Zenitsu alot, not just because of him acting like my old self."

Shin: "Zakiko is awesome!! I always have so much fun talking to her. I feel bad since she's so pessimistic, but that's why I'm helping her out of her shell as much as I can. She's so sweet for listening to me whenever I'm babbling on about something. & sometimes, when I stop by, I always sneak a few treats for her. She can be such a bottomless pit, but that's just a warrior's appetite. She has my full support on her goal of being the first ever female samurai!"

Wind hashira, Takeshi Hayate

Zakiko: "He was a pain in the ass sometimes. He always used to ruffle up my hair & challenge me to a spar, but that was when I was more nervous & scared. If he asked me now, I'd easily accept it. But, sometimes, we'd go out for drinks & just sorta chat. So, we weren't always on the same wavelength, but he was fun to hang out with. Alot more bearable than Shinazugawa, that's for sure."

Takeshi: "She can be such a whiney, pathetic brat sometimes. She's too clingy, too scared, that side of her is just annoying. I prefer her more abrasive & aggressive side much more, she's alot cooler like that. I don't like her occasional "I'm not like all of you" attitude, either. But, she's a good drinking buddy, so that's why I don't completely hate her. It's mostly a frenemies thing. But, for the most part, we just.....tolerate each other."

Stone hashira, Kazuyoshi Iwamoto

Zakiko: "I'm starting to wonder if Gyomei is his reincarnation. He acts exactly like him, that it's scary. He was like the dad of the hashiras, & obviously the oldest one, but just as kind as I remember him. A gentle giant through it all. I was obviously really scared of him when I first met him, but after a while, I softened up & basically saw him as a father figure. He's really kind, & I miss him alot. You'd be surprised at how often I have to catch myself so I don't accidentally refer to Gyomei by his name instead."

Kazuyoshi: "She's a very capable young lady. She might not always be that positive, but her charming smile can brighten the darkest of rooms. She seems to talk to the Tsugikuni brothers the most. I occasionally ask her to my prayers, but she always falls asleep during it. She's a very kind, warm, funny girl. Though, sometimes I worry if her fear is controlling her life. Seeing her so afraid is very upsetting. But, Yoriichi & Michikatsu have brought her out of her shell alot since they met. Which is truly wonderful. She needs it, & more importantly, she deserves it. Always a delight to talk to."

just thinking about that time i was going to uw oshkosh,and they had done a real bang-up job of letting me "fall thru the cracks" during my transfer, so i had no advisor to speak to and had never been given an orientation or anything of the sort and had to figure out EVERYthing, from campus maps to their fucked up nonexistent parking (that was also under construction at the time, and I was commuting!) to titanweb, on my OWN. like, alone. i never even got an ID.

and THEN i had the GALL and AUDACITY to get sick midway thru the semester, and when i went to medically withdraw the dean of students' office did NOT inform me of the ramifications and fees, did NOT refer me to the head of financial aid for a consult as was standard, and in fact did not refer me to anyone else or any other materials/resources that could help. he just tried to talk me into signing up for different classes and got annoyed when i kept saying "i'll still be sick even if I change my major." he handed me the paperwork begrudgingly and without additional comment.

so anyway i go thru all of that and then immediately get a notice from uwo, during my first ever 2 weeks of homelessness, that i owe them about $1700 for withdrawing after the deadline and if i don't pay it asap i'm going to court. that was a really normal amount of stress to be under for a guy who had just withdrawn from school for being too sick to stay awake in class anymore and then immediately got kicked out for it. good times, good times

i've never paid it and they did eventually send me to the DOR, who put a lien on my bank account (for all the good it did, I've never had any income coming in, anyway). but also, my transcripts will be forever withheld as long as i owe this balance, and i'm gonna die drowning in student loan debt for... what! nothing! an education i was not able to complete. resources i was never given, connections i never even had the chance to make. I paid tens of thousands of dollars for the privilege of having UWO fuck up my life for me. I could've done that on my own, for free!

oh, also, just thinking about how, yknow, years after all this went down, we found out two heads of administration were fucking embezzling from the uwo foundation. they 'were never accused of personally profiting' from this theft, despite the fact that NO ONE can seem to answer as to why they used uwo funds to help renovate things like an off-campus hotel. (I also heard rumors- like, actual IRL hearsay, nothing I can link to- that they bought a house or two during that time. idk how substantiated that gossip is, though.)

they took upwards of $11 million, bankrupted the foundation, and were sentenced to pay back $70k each in restitution. UWO's reputation has been forever and even further damaged, which is hilarious to me because it already wasn't great before this, at least not with anyone millennial age or younger, and not with anyone marginalized who's attended for even a few weeks. everyone my age knows it's one of the most physically unsafe UW campuses; a bunch of us also found out that hard way that they are financially unsafe, as well!

i'm FAR from the only person who had issues like this btw. in addition to the above, they did all kinds of unprofessional shit CONSTANTLY, like repeatedly "losing" my financial aid paperwork, and then magically finding it all of a sudden when my dad would call and get stern with them about having made/sent in copies in triplicate. My old roommate went to UWO briefly and they outright LOST something like $7,000 of his tuition. I don't remember exactly how it went down but I think it was at the beginning of the semester they kept telling him he still owed a bunch when his loans had already gone through, and they kept having similar "issues" of "losing" his documentation. (yes, this WAS, coincidentally, I'm sure, also during the time that the foundation was being ~improperly managed~)

I'm looking into the borrower defense loan discharge in the hopes that I can at least get my loans from UWO discharged. The time I wasted at UW-FDL and Milwaukee was my mistake, but I think I have a lot of grounds here to say that UWO misled me in multiple ways, especially about the nature of the money I owed and the withdrawal deadline I was supposed to know about. maybe if I had ever been assigned an advisor or given an orientation that wouldn't have happened?

unfortunately, the "judgement" subheader doesn't apply here, I don't think-- the criminal charges and judgement that were issues were against the former chancellor and cbo as individuals, not against the university, and I don't think university students were listed as victims here, somehow. in fact, I think uwo itself as an entity is the primary victim listed, as again, their foundation was bankrupt and it damaged their reputation so much etc etc.

Hilarious btw. I always hoped someone would pull a Papas Fritas on UWO, but if I got to see them die slowly that might be just as good. I'm not anti-university or anti-education or any of that.
