like yeah i made art about it but i've got more to say

i do understand why at first glance people assume kal would be homophobic, he's an old white guy, he's in the demographic you would expect to be a rabidly anti-queer republican and he's military to boot

but i suspect the people who headcanon him as homophobic need to read the books again and actually pay attention this time because:

-kal is viciously anti-government and takes a very 'eat the rich' attitude

-mandalorian culture in general doesnt give a shit and considers a person's relationships to be very very private to the point where getting legally married requires no witnesses, just a mutual agreement between the couple

-extremely pro-adoption so hes not gonna pull the 'but i wanted grandkids' shit

-has huge personal emotional history with being disowned, the instant he found out many (usually wealthier, politically red-pilled) parents disown their children for who they're attracted to he would be livid

-mereel is like DEFINITELY bi and heavily sexually active and never once does kal even comment on it

-so long as his kids are safe and happy, that's all he really wants
