lmao this is gonna be long i just need somewhere to vent???

anyway, so i still live w/ both my parents and for the last week or so, my parents havent been talking bc my dad’s been acting like a complete ass lately.

the plan was to move back to brazil in 3 years time. most of our family is still there, my dad’s always felt like he has some responsibility over his side of the family and claims that my mom’s family isn’t ‘close’ bc his brothers have stolen money from him, from his business and this man has let it slide for the last 20+ years. okay. anyway, we all agreed moving to brazil was a good idea, whatever. 

i knew my dad never rly gave a fuck about our wellbeing bc even before my grandparents passed, his main focus was on what he has back home and sending money to sustain businesses back home (which btw... is not how a business should work???? like. ????) and “forgetting” to pay bills and shit here. ever SINCE my grandparents have died, though, he’s been rly fucking angry at life and it feels like he blames us for the loss of his parents. he barely talks to me anymore, which sucks ‘cause i’ll try to talk to him and get nothing back. my maternal grandma has told us that this shit takes time and what not, but i doubt grieving while drinking and calling onto my grandparents is going to help.

aNYWAY: my dad has been picking fights w/ people who have political views that don’t match his (back in brazil). he comes from a small ass town (i’m sure it would technically be considered a village as i doubt more than 400 ppl live there) and people will KILL you for the smallest things. they’ll kill you, they’ll kill ur family, ESPECIALLY if you wanna argue/fight about politics. ppl don’t give a fuck. the reason THIS part of the story is important is bc this is why my parents aren’t speaking. my father claimed we would live a pretty good life, similar to the one we live here, back in brazil but he’s pulling unnecessary SHIT like this.

it’s been about a week since my parents last spoke, they’re sleeping in different rooms and that’s all fine and well bc they’ve gone weeks without speaking before. however, i just found out my dad is moving to ottawa? on wednesday??? and he didn’t even tell me himself, he told my mom and she told me? that’s like, 5 fucking hours away and as someone who has known my dad all my life, i’m really fucking sure he’s not going to tell me about it at all.

this feels rly fucking stupid and wrong, but like??? you don’t do that??? you don’t decide you’re gonna move and just go without telling ppl in advance. wednesday is LITERALLY a day away as of right now. we’re also in the middle of a fuckign pandemic so i would like to know what the fuck i’m even supposed to do right now??? like. what the fuck? suddenly moving to ottawa is a great idea but when we all wanted to go, it wasn’t that great? can someone pls explain what the fuck is going on

Yeah I just started my sophomore year of art college like, two weeks ago, and I’m an animation major! I’m not gonna say what school I go to for privacy reasons but I really love it here because it’s in a very liberal city and the gays are EVERYWHERE in my school. As an asexual panromantic person it makes me feel very at home lol. The animation program here is like, the biggest program they have and so far I’ve been loving it and learning a lot. I was really nervous about applying to go here because it was my dream school (i will say that its NOT calarts tho lmfao) and y’know there’s always a lot of pressure when applying for college, especially for art school because not only do you have to have a good gpa and standardized test scores but you also have to a have a good portfolio because that’s something that basically every art school asks for. I was a dingus tho and finished my portfolio last minute (don’t EVER do that oh my god) so the nerves were even higher for me lol. The good part is that it IS possible for someone’s portfolio to be “too good” because they want students that they can actually teach and wont already know everything that their classes cover, and my school is very open in the sense of “what is art” and they’re very accepting of a wide variety of styles. I almost cried when I got my acceptance letter because I only applied to like three other schools which weren’t exclusively art schools and I knew that I wouldn’t be able to get the same kind of experience that I get here.

As for other shows I take inspiration from AH THERE ARE SO MANY! I heckin live for all the cool stuff that Studio Mir has done, like Avatar: The Last Airbender, Legend of Korra, and Voltron: Legendary Defender. I’m also a fan of Cartoon Network’s stuff like Regular Show, Adventure Time (rest in peace, still haven’t caught up with it oops), and Steven Universe. I’m also of course in love with a bunch of older cartoons like My Life as a Teenage Robot, Danny Phantom, Teen Titans, etc. When it comes to Western media I guess I tend to lean more towards fantasy and sci-fi themed content but when it comes to anime I’m more interested in sports and slice of life stuff? I’m not sure why it’s just a weird thing that my brain decided was a good idea lmao. Like when it comes to anime I’m obviously obsessed with Free! more than anything, but I also love Haikyuu!!, Prince of Stride: Alternative, Servamp, Violet Evergarden, Angel Beats!, Zankyou no Terror and some other stuff. (surprisingly I’ve only watched 22 anime shows in my lifetime, a few of which I did not finish) Aside from like, television series I take inspiration from literally everywhere. Books, movies (i fuckign love star wars btw), other artists, video games, real life, yadda yadda.
