DRDT - Milgram AU: T1 "Voice Reveal" Lines

Hey there! Back at it with this AU. I figured if I'm going to commit to the bit, I might as well commit fully. At the start of every Trial, Milgram gives a sneak peak at some of the lines which will appear in the VDs, combined with "glitchy" lines which relate to their murder. So I'm doing that too! Keep in mind this is not professional in the slightest, so exact wording might change between now and when I actually post the VDs. Especially since it's been a while since I rewatched DRDT so the wording could feel a bit off. Anyways, here we go!

i'm gonna be honest, i don't have a toonnn written down about oz just yet. so i'm just gonna be going off the ref for the time being

-as i said SOMEWHERE, ed was the one to design and build oz's trick umbrella (gunbrella) and his trick cane. not only does it have the obvious twist-and-pull knife at the top, but it's also meant to look deceptively delicate and fancy. in reality, the actual stick part of the cane is HEAVY, and can easily crack skulls if need be

-relating to that, oz is actually like wickedly strong. his fancy clothes, pretty face, and missing leg trick people into underestimating him, but he is fuckin BUILT. his favorite party trick is having people bet on whether or not he can win an arm wrestling contest with the biggest, most muscled-up person in the room, and then collecting all the cash when he breaks the other guy's hand

-the pocket watch is a gift from jervis! jervis' nickname for him is the duchess, which oz absolutely hates. why does he have to be the rude, ugly one with a pig-baby?

-oz's messed up eye is from getting attacked with acid. it makes what he'd later to do harvey ironic

-that plague/masquerade/gas mask up in the corner is a gift from jon! because he's an ass, jon gifted him it after ozzie getting fear-toxin'd, specifically made to look similar to jon's. oz hates it, and wouldn't wear it, but he's more afraid of getting gassed than he is petty

-the gunbrella is based off of this insane combination of a gun and an unbrella hanging on the wall of a very weird couple who gave house tours. while i don't think it's real life inspiration was functional, this one IS. the cloth part (i don't know the name) is bulletproof and semi-see-through, so oz can hide safely behind the canopy while shooting. ed was paid handsomely for it

-he's gay and trans, along with having intermittent explosive disorder. my freak old man

So! A while ago I made redesigns for some of my least favorite Three Houses outfits. With a lot of the female characters, it feels like the priority with their design is "show boobs and/or bare legs". Obviously, I don't claim to be better at character design than the original artists, but here's my take with the following priorities (in order):

Representing the character and making them easily identifiable. Basically, the design should serve as a "condensed" version of their personality, abilities, culture, etc.

An outfit that I find (with my 100% correct and objective opinion, of course) to be attractive

Being reasonably practical, at least enough that it doesn't break immersion. Considers the character's job, available resources, etc.

Ordinarily I'd design an outfit to go with the character's body type, but I was lazy here lol. If people are interested, I could draw nice versions on the actual characters sometime. Oh, BTW, the concept for this post was heavily inspired by looking through the @bikiniarmorbattledamage tumblr :))))

Below are detailed descriptions on how I went about designing them, if anyone's curious! I will be bashing the original designs quite a bit because I find it funny, but I hold absolutely no disrespect toward anyone who prefers them to my poorly-thought-out versions :)

Bernadetta – I feel like the designers were trying to combine the female archer class outfit, Bernie’s own girly/plushie aesthetic, and the “fancy noble lady” style and it didn’t quiiiiiite work out. I really like the color scheme & overall shapes, so I just went about changing the few things that ruined it for me.

First off, the huge bell sleeves. They’re just silly and don’t match the outfit imo. I turned them into an elaboration on her cute gloves.

Gave her pants instead of booty shorts. I don’t think Bernie would wear a long skirt that would keep her from running around, but the exposed legs give her a “vulnerable” look that I don’t think she’d appreciate. Plus, having the leg-pouch strapped to her bare skin looked really uncomfy ☹.

The boots didn’t work as well with her shiny new Pants, so I gave her knitted leg-warmer things inspired by this gorgeous cipher art.

I expanded her leg-pouch-thing and gave her a teeny little dagger. I just think she’d carry weapons on her person.

Constance – Honestly, credit to her for doing the best she could with the god-awful Dark Flier class design. I still think her outfit is pretty ugly and sexist, so I made some adjustments. I tried to evoke a “noble lady” feeling, but keep the muted color scheme and lack of patterns to imply that she’s actually dirt-poor. I took inspiration from people like Ferdie (noble vibe; armor purely for show not practicality) but with her personal “edgy steampunk vampire” aesthetic.

I changed her stupid boob-cup breastplate. I don’t even care about the dangers of wearing boobplate in realistic combat—it just looks ugly. Like why do you need to go to extra trouble to say “I have BOOBS! TWO of them!!”? It’s embarrassing. I mean it’s fine if you’re proud of your boobs, but then don’t cover them up with metal maybe???

I realized that the designers probably gave her boobplate because, without it, her outfit isn’t actually all that feminine. Coco is a pretty feminine lady, so I remedied this by giving her puffy sleeves (inspired by the Awakening Dark Flier design) and a skirt-thing (with an awkward slit that would allow her to sit on a horse). The skirt had the added bonus of being incompatible with the stupid butt-grabbing hip armor. Good riddance!

Traded in her bare legs for some silly suspender-sock-things. I just thought they worked better with the skirt and more “girly” outfit overall. Also gave her shin-guards to extend the pink color scheme throughout the whole outfit.

I also changed her dress into a stylish vest that, imo, looks nicer (and comfier) with the armor. I gave her some gold accents on the vest & armguards for a dash of color.

Her belt got a revamp to work better with the vest.

Lysithea – On to our favorite doily princess! Her design doesn’t reek as much of “boobs and/or legs priority”, but it’s still silly and looks pretty uncomfortable. I actually really like the aesthetic, so I tried to keep it as much as possible. I did end up having to introduce another color (silver), though.

I think her doily skirt looks extra silly because it’s so dwarfed by her sleeves. I lengthened it, made it puffier, and added another layer beneath it.

More drastically, I ended up changing the whole top of the dress so it was a shirt & skirt instead. I’m not sure I have a justification for this beyond “I don’t usually prefer dresses”, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out 😊 Also, what’s with the weird rows of ribbons(???) at her sides? Into the trash lol.

The ribbon attachment looks like it would be really cold on her bare chest ☹. I moved it down to the level of her shirt and attached it to her shoulders instead of her neck (for comfort).

Her shoes got boringer but less dumb-looking. What can I say, I’m not good at designing shoes.

Hapi – Hers is the least-bad of the Ashen Wolves’ timeskip designs, not that that’s saying much. I don’t really like gray and green as a color scheme, so I gave her a bit of brown and some more gold accents. Other than that, I feel like she has a sort of forest girl/witch/traveler look, which I tried to keep as much as possible.

Obviously, the silly boob-separator strap had to go. I have no problems with Hapi being sexy, but she’s much more the “forgot to put on my pants when I rolled out of bed at 1:00pm” type rather than the “put extra effort into showing that I have TWO BOOBS” type. Therefore, I kept a similar amount of skin showing but tried to make it easier to assemble.

Her new skirt was based on the Valkrie designs from other games (you’ll notice the similarity to the Mist-inspired outfit in this post). I think this version is both cuter and looks easier to move in. Also, I love giving everyone too many belts! Hers has a lil pouch for carrying random junk she finds.

Both her arms and legs looked a little boring imo, so I gave her some pretty bracelets and altered her shoes. Plus, her original boots looked hard to move in. Here, the actual boot is pretty loose but is tied below the knee with an extra laceable piece and above the knee with a brown strap.

Petra – Ho boy. I always felt like Petra’s design could be potentially problematic, although I’ve never done any research. Anywayyyy, it’s clear that the designers wanted something “exotic”-looking, but they had no ideas beyond “well she’s from a warm climate right” (In reality, someone from a warm climate would probably be unadjusted to the cold and bundle up… but that goes against the goal of “condensed character description” so I don’t really mind). Instead, I took a lot of inspiration from this awesome Cipher art! Her color scheme is a hot mess but not without potential, and personally I think I did okay with it!

Ok, ok, her design also does a decent job of indicating that she’s royalty from a hunting-focused nation. When re-doing her top I tried to keep that in mind, so I gave her some fancy jewelry and animal goods (i.e. fluff). I don’t feel like re-iterating the boobplate argument, so suffice to say that her breastplate suffered the same fate as Constance’s.

I adjusted her arm jewelry to be more to my liking. Not really any logic there.

Her miniskirt is pretty dumb, so I changed the shape and incorporated some hip armor (someone tell me the official name). I also took away the fluffy fringe, seeing as she already got some fluff around her neck. Instead, I added the pattern that was originally on her leg-band.

Do I need to explain giving her another pant leg? I know her outfit is based on the female thief class, but it doesn’t look good there either. And once again, I had no ideas for her shoes beyond not liking the old ones ☹.

One will realize pretty fast that I am in fact not normal lmao- i'm a bit weird but i'm living for it. I'd describe myself as rather introverted though I'm not shy or timid. I just like to relax and take things slow. I'm pretty easy to talk to if I do say so myself and laid-back as well. I'm also funny apparently (my friend's opinion. Lazy too but we don't talk about that HA-)

Interests/Hobbies

If you couldn't already tell by my ability to speak a lot of languages I am really interested in them. I love to learn new stuff and expand my knowledge in general- I also LOVE listening to music (my earphones are my bebes) and sometimes drawing is pretty tempting as well. Idk why but designing/ decorating is something I tend to enjoy doing even though I don't realize it. Gardening is also a hobby of mine.

Just a few more smaller facts- My love language is quality time and I'm not overly experienced when it comes to relationships. I tend to be drawn to ppl that are open and know what they want. Confidence and loyalty are a big factor.

Tsukishima Kei is surprised that he would be fascinated with you!

He's not an easy guy. The type who would retaliate with a sharp tongue before letting anyone in, but you've managed to get past his defenses. It's a combination of not pushing his limits and having the intellect to study languages, which is such a difficult subject. Tsukishima is a person who relentlessly pursues knowledge even if he hides it under such a cool façade. If he discovers that you, as unassuming as you are, can assist him in some way? Even his pride cannot keep him from asking for your assistance while his eyes are downcast, and he tugs at his fingers.

Why not? His demands are straightforward and specific. You start assisting him with his request, but you never expected to catch so much attention for it. You're beginning to see that other girls are drawn to Tsukishima by his good looks without knowing about the twisted personality hidden beneath. His interactions with Hinata and Kageyama, two of his volleyball club teammates, demonstrate his cruelty. A sharp word. A biting laugh. A taunt. Tentatively, you asked him about his personality, and he answers:

( “What gives me the right to be cruel to you? You haven't done anything, and you're helping me.” It could be a trick of the light, but he appears to be blushing into the crook of his arm.  )

His meanness, however, is directed at anyone who might criticize you. Those girls' attentions turn negative. He can easily exploit each of their insecurities. This one is far too ugly, this one is far too stupid, and this one is far too pathetic. It doesn’t matter where in the social hierarchy they are because Tsukishima is an ever-loyal attack dog. He’ll take all the heat if it means they’ll leave you alone.

One day, a girl who used to blush pretty when he was close had splashed water in his face. He didn't even blink. You dragged him to the back of the gymnasium and asked Tsukishima why he was willing to go so far for you.

Head Start at Birth - Ch. 21-30

The mediocrity continues! I feel like I've read newspaper funnies with higher stakes than this plot. Nothing bad ever really happens to the main characters and they always look/act pristine. The character writing is giving Mary Sue/Gary Stu vibes. I wonder if I would like this back in middle school or if I'd have enough brain cells to recognize its blandness?

Ch. 21

Lilia figures out a way to use magic without any magic energy (thanks to Toma). So now she's fulfilled her goal of allowing Elrich to use magic.

I'm not really emotionally invested at all at this point btw. Everything is so bland (especially Elrich who is just like "perfect boyfriend") that how could I be?

Ch. 22

It feels kind of lazy that the bird gets a cool human form and the dragon just gets to be blue!Lilia :/

More random plot happenings...this time the King is under attack and they're asking Lilia to help. Again with the "chosen one" BS.

Ch. 23

I feel like they totally ripped off the "butler attacks with steak knives" thing from Black Butler. Can't get nothin' past a veteran weeb!

Weirdly I feel like this manga could benefit from more characters. Yeslar and Reslar (Lilia's dragon and bird companions) get way too much screentime. They're so boring lol

Ch. 24

Just when I complain about Lilia's spirits they introduce...even more spirits! Why did they just reveal that Toma had spirits outta nowhere like that?

Reslar freaking out at the faerie seemed a little overblown and out of character (what little character Reslar has). I think Lilia and Elrich should have scolded her instead of just distracting her :/

Ch. 25

I gotta admit, the Sage title is pretty badass. And it looks like she gets access to some fancy library/archive? Hell yeah.

I had the though of "instead of pursuing the invention of the camera via magic why doesn't she just try recreating the non-magical engineering it takes to develop a camera?" But then I was like...wait...I have no idea how a camera works. Also, she was just an otaku in her previous life so she wouldn't have that knowledge either.

Elrich seemed low key jealous that his fiance is more impressive than him. Hopefully those feelings don't turn ugly. (Who am I kidding? This manga has no stakes whatsoever).

Lilia's new ribbons are suuuper cute. As I've said before, this manga at least has eye candy if nothing else.

Ch. 26

Can't decide if this chapter was wholesome or creepy. All these old men freaking out over Lilia with grandfatherly love. I guess it's just not a dynamic you see very often lol

Again we have the whole "MC is the super special chosen one who is smarter than everyone in their new world" vibes 😑

While I relate to Lilia being somewhat introverted, I do think she could have been a little nicer to the sages after they invited her so many times. It also felt weird to me that she didn't have the "wait, maybe this could further my research" revelation sooner.

Ch. 27

The age gap relationship stuff combined with the ultra girly aesthetic is kinda giving me UsagixMamoru from Sailor Moon. Not saying that makes it okay, just that this is pretty common with shoujo I guess.

"I like to carry you" is creepy (AKA she's so young you can carry her, dude >:/) but also...I wish I could be carried places lol. Seems really nice.

Lilia's "I should rely on others more" revelation is good, especially since it goes against the aforementioned "OP MC is better than everyone" vibes. I much rather her see her working with the community than just dominating everyone.

Ch. 28

Woah this one was so short? (Yet it cost the same amount, go figure -_-)

I almost thought there was another time skip since Isaac looked so mature, but nope! Zac is a cool nickname for the name Isaac

King is sus. I wonder if he's going to try and swoop in and have someone else marry Lilia?

I was completely wrong about the king, they just keep doing these ominous cliff hangers that amount to nothing. It's pretty frustrating.

Lol back to this manga being absolutely zero stakes. They threatened to take Elrich away but were then like "sike, he doesn't have to go!" This is very "makes it easy" story telling.

They had a "The End" fake out...wish it was real.

The writing keeps pointing out how young Lilia is and how it's weird she's engaged to be married (actually married as of this chapter). If you think it's so weird, why did you write it!? No one is forcing you to write about a married 9 year old! -sigh-

This is super late. I'm so sorry. I was thinking about Glorious Masquerade outfit ideas then I got this in my inbox. So, why not combine what I've been making and use it to answer this ask.

God, I wish I could draw better. Yana's intricate design for clothes makes me lose my sanity. Btw I only had the energy to make Minako's outfits. I hope these suffice.

Character theming is everything. Minako's colour motifs are black and white and the character she's twisted from is Mickey Mouse. That's what I have to work with. Also, medieval silhouettes aren't my favourite thing in the world, and it was actually pretty hard for me to find information of French fashion during the 1480s. I had to take inspirations from Renaissance fashion instead.

Looking at various references, wide v-necks paired with squared-collar kirtles underneath were quite popular with women in the 15th century.

Then for headdresses, I was introduced to the good, the bad, and the ugly. I thought about using an escoffion, a double-horned headwear, but it just didn't sit well with my vision:

I also thought about giving Minako a tiara, but I found that it wasn't extravagant enough to go with the outfits

I drew this headwear called a beaded snood because the other headwears were not great at displaying Minako's space buns in particular. Unfortunately, I scrapped the snood because it was way too complicated to draw again. The effort was not worth it.

I ended up liking the padded roll headdress and the hennin in the end. We'll get back to that later.

I experimented with the black-and-white colour scheme at first with outfits 1 and 2. Furthermore, I decided that the dress would look better with gold accents because too much black would make it look like a funeral attire and too much white would make it look like she was the bride of a wedding.

#1 has a fur lining and I just used transparent pngs from google images to make the patterns

#2 and #3 have puffed sleeves and patterns that I drew myself. The patterns were actually moderately easy to draw despite how complex it looks. I think the silhouettes look much better because of the puffed sleeves.

Overall, I prefer #2 and #3 more over #1.

For #2 I've decided to pair it with the padded roll (I think that's what it's called)

#3 is pretty much #2 recoloured to look like Mickey's wizard robes from Fantasia. (Is it just me, or does the gown look a little like the American flag. Red and blue are hard to pair together).

Personally, I don't enjoy dabbling with Mickey's robes as inspirations for Minako's outfits. I just don't vibe with them, but the Masquerade event gave me the perfect opportunity to try!

I've decided to pair the gown with this cone-shaped headdress is called a hennin. You've probably seen them worn by princess characters in children's media. I wanted to give the hennin a galaxy theme. I hope the stars and moon are visible enough on the veil.

Finally, I only want one mask, and it's this:

I at first wanted to go for a straight animal motif mask, but that wasn't working me.

So, we're down to two, and I think they turned out pretty great. I got rid of the pearls on the v-neck not because I forgot it after through copying and pasting the same position. Ha ha ha...

Personally, I like the black and white colour scheme more, but I'd like other people's thoughts too. What do you all think?

I had some questions about fable, my brother (whose name is Nick btw, that's not relevant to my question but i thought you'd appreciate since you love Nick Wiseman so much) wants me to play the series but im unsure since a very important part of rpgs to me is creating ocs and he made it seem like you play as a pre-determined character in all the games, but you have fable ocs so now I'm confused? 2) i am SO incredibly honored that you value my opinion!! let me give you the rundown :)

(full disclaimer, i played the original fable when i was a kid and have not played it since, so these thoughts and opinions are mostly based on fable 2 and 3). now, your brother's right, in every game you have a predetermined character: fable/fable anniversary = the hero of oakvale, fable 2 = the hero of bower lake/sparrow, fable 3 = the hero of brightwall. all of them have set appearances but you can purchase hair dyes and hairstyles to change them up a bit. fable 2 and 3 allow you to be male or female, while the original fable is locked into a man.

that being said, i do have fable ocs! the character creation process of fable is very much up to your imagination, the game doesn't give you much opportunity to shape your hero in-game. the "shaping" of your character is in your choice of good or evil choices. in each game, the more heroic you are, the more attractive your hero is, and vice versa, the evil choices will make your hero "ugly". this is what we call

that aside, if you're looking for character customization like dragon age, unfortunately you won't find that here. a lot of my oc content is behind the scenes, stuff that i can't do or say in-game. there are no dialogue options to pick, no intricate cc screen, no romanceable npcs (of importance, you can marry and have children with unimportant npcs), and you can't even give your hero an actual name in-game. both fable and fable 2 have silent protagonists, fable 3 introduces a speaking protagonist

THAT BEING SAID. i definitely absolutely 100% recommend the fable series. i don't think it'll remind you of dragon age because their themes and atmospheres are different, but it is definitely worth a look. fable is the only series i've seen that combines humor and dark storylines so well. it's an absolutely ridiculous series with some rich, entertaining, and soulful storylines that will have you thinking about them for ages. seriously, their storylines are so good and clearly well crafted, and almost every side quest feels important. i especially love fable 3 for that, but i won't spoil anything for you.

and just as an fyi: fable and fable 2 are revenge stories. fable 3 is about liberating your kingdom. you decide how you go about these goals

(also as a quick side note, fable also has npcs with set sexualities! not important to the game really but it's a really cool thing to see)

as a general tldr: yes i recommend the fable series, most of the character creation has to come from you, and thank you again for asking my advice <3 you're the best!!

After about being an hour into the auction the both of you started to get awfully bored, simply because well it was quite boring. You would think there would be a tiny bit more energy, but alas the only thing interesting that happened was two trust fund boy getting into a fistfight over a girl, who clearly wasn't interested in either of them. You shot her an apologetic look because it had to be an unpleasant situation for her. Sometime you just wanted to bitchslap some people, and frankly currently you were mentally beating up those two boys.

It only got better after that because all the items that were being displayed just hadn't been remotely appealing to you two, yet they sold off.

Currently being two hours in with no end in sight the two of you regret your decision to come in the first place, so does Chuuya as of now he's on his second glass of wine.

Three hours in your just about to lose your mind, so you settle on attempting to bid on a little abstract palette knife painting that actually was very intriguing, and surprisingly you actually successfully landed the bid because it wasn't extravagant enough for the other people currently sitting in the audience. You even didn't dig out of Chuuya's pocket either. The little square shaped canvas fascinated you. The multi colored flecks danced across the like star at night combined with the colors of the autumn season and shadows. It wasn't mean't to depict anything in particular, nor was it much, but there was just something about it that you could keep away from it.

Four hours in Chuuya is definantly tipsy, and working on his fourth glass of wine. So you made the decision to take away his drinking privileges until he's more sober for the time being. Then while waiting for the event too end so you can pick up the paint (and questioning the broker while you're picking it up from him) you decide to take a nap.

Your eyes started to drift shut, leaning against the velvety chair you sink back into it trying to find a position that won't cramp your neck. When it finally perfect you started to drift off, trying to kill some time in between waiting periods.

I don't do New Year resolutions

1. Be true to myself. Stay positive and compliment myself instead of compare myself to others around me. Failed. 01/02/2017. There's a beauty in confidence and I fear I've fallen victim to someone who emits and radiates confidence. Someone who actually does look good and therefore, they feel good. But I feel like that's just how we are, how we think, and how we shape our ideas of beauty. If you look good then you've gotta feel good and if you look bad you'll feel bad, bad meaning ugly, fat, undesirable. I've felt for a long time that that was just a "girl thing". That it was something every girl felt. And if they were ensnared by someone with overflowing confidence then it could bring them down and make them feel worse as they look at themselves in the mirror, naked and unconsciously and immediately grimace at what they see, their unsatisfactory body, face and mind ripping their blue hearts open with maudlin worthlessness. Then it's the next day and it only gets worse after you wake up. Some nights are just puddles of self-hate wrapping them so tightly in winter evenings and cooling their burning faces off during hot AF summer nights that it will help lull their numb minds and hearts to sleep. Pretend to patch the heart. Wake up. Everything is okay. Then it just goes downhill and you'll find yourself deeply wrapped in that sorrowful fucking pitiful blanket once more. BUT. I mean there's some days where it doesn't seem so bad. A glimpse of yourself in a mirror or store window and you'll think to yourself hey your hair isn't that bad. That outfit looks good. That's a nice smile you're wearing that you mean - that's a really nice authentic smile. Good choice on not wearing those earrings. Gosh these shoes are so comfortable and I low key am wearing my favorite sock-underwear combination so you can say I am too motherfucking hot and untouchable gtfo and part the sea for I am the chosen one who'll walk into that cave and steal the genie, steal from the rich and give to the poor, and Kamehameha that pink blob into oblivion.
