hi !! i recently came across your account which btw i love your pick a card readings🤍 im a beginner tarot reader and i just wanted to know what decks you use to do your readings or if you have a specific method
i'm super late, so i apologize 😭 i just wanted to be sure i did a full comprehensive answer, so it took me a while!
if you have any more questions or need clarification - let me know! i'm always willing to help :)
good luck on your tarot journey 💛
𝐃𝐄𝐂𝐊𝐒:
Tarot of the Divine
this is the main deck i use; if i have any question whatsoever, i usually reach for this one. the descriptions of the cards are very easy to understand, especially for a beginner! the cards depict folklore from all around the world and often the story is referenced in the card description, which i feel like adds an extra layer of understanding to the cards' meanings. i feel like everybody and their parent has this deck, but it's honestly because it's so good!
this deck also has a lot of resources available with it like a book giving the full story behind the folktales depicted in the deck and a handbook that helps you get into the habit of understanding the cards for yourself!
i think this deck alone makes a great tarot resource.
The Final Rose Tarot
i use this deck mainly for love readings! i love the references to the bachelor/bachelerotte, and the love theme makes it easy to get into the mindset of a love basd reading. sometimes i would find the tarot of the divine would throw me off when talking about love because i use that deck generally, but this deck doesn't give me that problem!
this is also my favorite deck in terms of aesthetic and presentation; it's very well made and worth its price!
The Pasta Tarot
this a newer deck that i've purchased, but i also enjoy it a ton! the explanations for the cards are a little more scarce compared to tarot of the divine, but it's made up for in the imagery. i feel like i connect to my intuition a lot more using this deck because each time i do a reading, i look at the individual cards that come out and find a new way to interpret the cards everytime (and that helps me to connect to people's situations better).
this is a good deck for figuring out if you've started understanding the meaning of the cards on your own!
The Hoodoo Tarot
i like this deck because of its connection to hoodoo. i use this deck often to connect with my ancestors and for personal messages from my guides or other people's guides who are comfortable with it. i'm not sure how to describe this, but suing this deck makes me feel like family is talking to me? there's a lot of emphasis on culture with this deck, and i adore that about it.
if you're interested in hoodoo, then i would reccommend this deck for sure.
Timing and Action
this is an oracle deck i got off etsy. it's great for figuring out timing and descriptors. i use this during future spouse readings when figuring out how/when someone may meet their person. the deck is very straightforward, and i find it easier to understand than trying to figure out timing from a traditional tarot deck.
this is a great companion deck to a traditional one!
𝐌𝐄𝐓𝐇𝐎𝐃𝐒:
method is a tricky thing because what someone else does isn't necessarily what other people will do. personally, i'd say try a couple things you've seen/heard others do and eventually decide on what you feel comfortable with. it's also totally okay to do something you feel like no one else does with the decks - it's all about how you connect to the energy.
personally, i always start out by knocking on my deck a few times and then do a couple riffle shuffles until i feel like the deck is "clean" or ready to answer the question i have.
in order to get cards i'll take in a reading, i do an overhand shuffle and focus on the question. i'll usually close my eyes to focus, and i'll take whatever flies out (the cards literally fly out; or if i see them turn over to show themselves, then i will take them also).
i try to arrange cards by the order they come out to understand the answer in a full context. so, by the time i do the interpretation it can feel like a storybook, as that makes it easier for me to understand.
after that, it's all interpretation!
my main tip for interpreting is don't be afraid to use the guidebook that comes with a tarot deck - whether it's your first, fiftieth, or millionith time doing a reading. if you don't understand the context of a card or forget the meaning, that's totally fine! utilize your resources as needed!
with that in mind, don't be afraid to use your intuition either! tarot is a tool to build on your intuition and/or to make it stronger; in other words, tarot is not what has the answers - you do. tarot just makes it so those answers are easy to access and understand.
