She was holding the sun with her bare hands and it was only possible because of him. You gave me the fire back. “I lo-” The Hellmouth erupted around them and Buffy found herself laying on the wet floor surrendered by candles, the discarded sacrificial lamb dressed in virginal white

"Buffy?" Xander was looking at her with two equally brown, equally functional eyes. Angel was standing in a puddle as if waiting for her to run into his arms and Spike was nowhere to be found, and she had the feeling that there was something terribly wrong going on but couldn't remember what it was.

 This story was originally written for the Elysian Fields Mystery Challenge Month 2022 but i couldn't finish it on time and so I decided to expand on the original concept.

Rated Mature for potentially disturbing descriptions.
