Of all the K-Jikookers' reactions I read today about Jimin and Jungkook sending a congratulatory wreath together, my favourites were the ones saying that, despite having billions of won in the bank, they still chose to send just one—then ended the tweet wondering if it was because they were stingy or just a couple.

Hey, how have you been? I wanted to ask you something if it’s not too much trouble.

I don’t know if you’ve had the chance to rewatch Hobi’s birthday Wlive with the official Weverse subtitles, but I have a question.

I know that pronouns in Korean can be a bit tricky, and because of that, Weverse/Hybe often translates things in a way that makes sense in another language, even if it’s not a word-for-word translation. But when Jimin, Jungkook, and Hobi were talking, Jimin said—according to Weverse subtitles—that since he doesn’t know how much he can/should share with us, he’s been staying away from ARMY on purpose.

My question is, was he talking about just himself or about him and Jungkook? Because I saw several translations on Twitter saying that Jimin actually said that since he and Jungkook don’t know how much they can share, they’ve been keeping their distance from the fandom. If it’s not too much trouble, could you explain the difference or share your opinion on it? Thanks in advance!

Hey!! This is a good question, and honestly a hard one to answer because it could be either way. Nothing in Jimin's speech indicates he's talking exclusively about himself, but he's not including the both of them explicitly in the sentence either. It's up to the listener to assume.

In my opinion, however, I think he may mean both of them. A couple of sentences before, he clearly says "there are seriously a lot of stories/anecdotes the two of us made" and the both of them go on to say they don't know how much they can share, and if they do, army may run away. I think what Jimin says about keeping their distance is a sentiment both of them share (my translation of what he says would be 'even though we're being careful and not seeking out armys so much, we really, really miss you.' It's a bit less harsh than 'keeping distant' imo).

Either way, one of the loveliest parts about Korean is that there's not a clear-cut distinction between the individual and the collective. What I feel, my brothers and sisters also feel. I could go into boring details about linguistics and the way languages shape society, but there's a reason why the use of 'we' and 'us' are so broadly and ambiguously used in korean, or why friends are referred by the same word as you'd refer to your actual brother or sister (I mean words like hyung, noona, etc.) This is surface level, or perhaps simply more obvious, but this sense of collectivism (what's yours is mine, what mine is yours) sneaks into every aspect of the way koreans speak.

That is to say, the line between 'me' and 'we' is far more blurred than it'd be in a language like English or Spanish. In Spanish you may ommit a pronoun, but the verb form gives all the information away ("estoy": 1st person, singular; "estamos": 1st person, plural). More so, I personally feel like Jimin would've specified in some way that he meant he's the one pulling away, instead of speaking for the two of them, if JK hadn't agreed with the decision. That, or JK would've bickered with him, scolding him for not greeting armys so often (tell me you can't picture this exact conversation!)

So it doesn't really matter that Jimin meant himself or the two of them, because honestly, can you really separate the two of them? The same people that give up on eating carbs if the other is on a diet even when they're on vacation, the same people that share an infinite number of inside jokes only the two of them understand, the same people that willingly enlisted together... everything about Kookmin, from their actions to their language choices, tell me that they exist in a tandem. 'You are me, I am you.'

Regardless of what anyone believes about Jimin and Jungkook's relationship, it's impossible to ignore – though some might try to deny it – the sense of relief and comfort they've found in enlisting together. It's not something you can easily overlook, no matter how much people want to question or downplay it. The bond they share goes beyond just being bandmates; they truly understand each other, and one of the things that unites them the most is their deep love for music. Both of them have a passion for singing, and that connection is something they clearly cherish.

What makes it even more beautiful is how they manage to find moments in what is surely a busy life right now, to enjoy something they both love, It's genuinely heartwarming to witness. And I say this as a fan of their artistry, a fan of their talents, and someone who admires their love for their craft.

Jungkook mentioned that they often step away from their fellow soldiers to sing together, just to enjoy something that bonds them so it’s comforting to see that they have each other. They support each other and there's no doubt they’re making plans for everything they’ll do once their military service is over and they’re back where they’re happiest – being on stage, performing for their fans, where they truly feel at home.

At the end of the day, regardless of whether or not you believe in Jikook, what matters is this: if you consider yourself a true fan, someone who genuinely respects them as people, then you should feel nothing but happiness that they’re experiencing this chapter of their lives together. It doesn’t matter why they chose to enlist together we should be happy that they made that choice. After all, there’s no better way to navigate such a unique and, in many ways, challenging phase of life than with someone who truly understands you and who’s there for you every step of the way.

I don’t usually post pictures of Jimin and Jungkook in the army, but I really want to share this one. I wonder if they both painted the whole guitar case—whatever they used to sign it looks like the same thing they used to draw on it. If that’s the case, the soldier who got it is seriously lucky because it looks so cool!

I don’t know if I should put on my tinhat or not, but I can’t stop thinking about this part of Jimin’s post:

“and what kind of lives we’ll be leading in the future.”

Logically, given the context, he’s probably talking about their futures as artists—how things will change once they’re all back together, what kind of music they’ll make, and how their careers will evolve. But at the same time, something about the way he phrased it feels… interesting.

I don’t know if that makes sense, but it just stood out to me. It’s such a broad and open-ended way to put it, and knowing Jimin, he chooses his words carefully. So I can’t help but wonder if there’s more to it than just their professional lives.

Why do you think a lot will change after their MS?

First of all, because they’ll no longer have the dark cloud of military service hanging over their heads, which I imagine will be a relief for them, especially since it’s something many people, directly or indirectly, used to threaten them with—even the government, in a way. The second reason is that they’ll be in their 30s, or almost there in Jungkook’s case, and it’s almost inevitable that they’ll have a different mindset about everything, especially their lives and careers. Their time in the military may have helped them form new bonds, adopt new perspectives, and in the case of Jimin and Jungkook, strengthen their relationship even more than they have with other members, which could, in turn, create different dynamics between them.

They might be at a stage where they want different things or want to do things differently, so I think even their relationship with the agency will change. Although it’s clear that the agency and company don’t control them, and they’ve always had a say in the direction of their careers, I imagine that when they return, they’ll want more control. More say in everything.

Aside from all of that, or as a consequence of everything I’ve mentioned, I think their relationship with the fandom will also change, and that’s something I personally hope happens. We saw some of that last year with Namjoon and Jungkook in particular, so I expect to see more of it when they return.

ARMY, this is Jimin.

I enlisted in December the year before last, and before I knew it, two years have already passed.

I’ve been serving in the military for about a year and two months now, and… it really feels like time flows differently here.

It’s not always easy, but since there are things I’m learning and experiencing, I’m looking forward to the day when I can sit down and chat with you all about everything that’s happened.

Hmm… my daily life hasn’t changed much.

Since it’s the military, my days are filled with training, work, and exercise, and before I know it, the day is over, and it’s time to sleep again. I’m living in a routine that repeats itself.

One thing that has changed, though, is the conversations Jungkook and I have before going to bed, especially now that the year has turned.

Since the days until we meet again are getting closer, we’ve been talking a lot about what we need to prepare before that moment arrives, what kind of image we want to show, and what kind of lives we’ll be leading in the future.

To be honest, I do feel a bit scared.

It’s been quite a while since we last performed together, and it’s also been some time since I was able to devote myself fully to the stage and music, so there’s some fear.

But my determination to give you the best performance when we reunite has never changed.

I’ll work hard—really.

I’ll do my best and come back in great shape.

To our dear ARMY, whom I miss and am endlessly grateful for,

Until the day we meet again, please take care of your health and have days filled with happiness.

I’ve been thinking about something. Maybe it’s just me, but doesn’t it seem like the other members still serving in the military don’t give out as many autographs as Jimin and Jungkook? I don’t think Jin or Hobi did either, but, funnily enough, they (Yoongi excluded) seem to have more public photos with other soldiers than Jimin and Jungkook.

I mean, it’s possible that the soldiers who get autographs from the other members just choose not to share them, but then why do they still post videos and photos with certain members and not others?

I’ve mentioned this before, but I find it so interesting how each of them has handled that part of their military service in their own way.
