I've had these on the backburner for some time (I'm so sorry, lol), and I'm finally getting to them.

(To be entirely honest: I didn't know how to approach this; but hey, the way I see BTAS Jon is—different. It's short. Bare with me.)

Different doesn't mean horny!!! Okay, it kinda does.

Baby Boy

Most usually, you can find Jonathan Crane bumbling around in the droll humdrum of some hobbled-together laboratory, preparing a new batch of fear toxin for his next scheme.

It's a quaint plan: another attempt at a Gotham-wide fright night(for as well as you know those tend to go).

You pushed ever-so slightly the "laboratory" door, hushing its creak with the tender slowness you employed to open it. Silently you slipped in, careful not to make fear itself privy to your presence.

Your eyes flicked about the room: a shadow danced on the wall. Scattered about a table, a myriad of beakers, vials, and flasks contained varying fluids of glowing greens, reds, and oranges. On another, bubbling, boiling clear liquids dripped condensation into a beaker from the long beak of what can only be described as a glass crane with a big head. Elsewhere, a troupe of magnets spun in solutions with soft yellow tints.

Nearby, a board was scrawled with equations and chemical names, with lists upon lists of properties and test results. Shelves worth of rats taken from Gotham streets were now trapped in large fish tanks fitted with fans and lights and heat lamps.

And, among it all: a shock of bright red hair on a tree wearing an oversized lab coat.

You had entered the laboratory halfway through a rehearsal of his triumphant monologue about his plan: truly the most important aspect of any true act of supervillainy.

"—and with but a single drop of my new concoction," the shadow of a duet of branches sprawled across the wall as a devilish voice exclaimed through the warehouse, "I will bring all of Gotham to her knees!" And with a crescendo: "I will prove once and for all that the only thing to fear is—"

"My baby boy," you purred quietly as you drew your arms around the Scarecrow without a pole.

A sudden stiffening of Crane's body made you giggle with a smirk of satisfaction.

You knew, by watching his pallid complexion flush time and time again, that his entire body was a soft rosy hue.

"Oh, w- welcome back," He said with a flustered stumble, "D-Did you just call me—"

You echoed yourself in a purr, nuzzling into the flat spot between his shoulder blades, "My baby boy."

His entire form, again, suddenly stiff as a board.

Perhaps he really is a Scarecrow.

The clink of vials being slipped back into their stand prompted you to squeeze tighter around the straw man in your grasp.

"You're aware I'm in my forties, right dear?"

You smiled and nodded, rubbing no-longer existent scent glands into his back.

"Baby boy," he chuckled wryly. You of all people know his face was still as red as his hair.

He tapped your arm, and you allowed him to squirm himself to face you.

Dark eyes, bright red hair, and a face red like blood on snow.

"Now that I'm facing you," Jonathan furrowed his brows and spoke in a low tone, "Say it again."

The hair on your body pricked up, and your face flushed red.

Yet, you smiled: cupping the wolf's face in your palms and beaming the same thing: "You're my baby boy!"

He smiled a toothy grin and ensnared you in his grip: a sheep in the wolf's maw.

"What a delightfully naive little acolyte," he whispered, kissing feverishly your unsuspecting lips.

LOTUS - The Beyond Time and Space Blog

IT'S A JOURNEY - A RACE - BEYOND TIME AND SPACE.

When an often-flighty young girl is conflicted by her desire to express her capabilities and her fear of doing more than what she can handle, the moment arises when a team of brave individuals are needed to carry out a quest to explore and gather information on alternate universes. However, the drive of another blocks their path in reigning successful; so much so, the team is left to go on a journey that’s much longer than they wished.

Beyond Time and Space is a web-series that began production - albeit unintentionally - in January 2021. The series as a whole is about a young girl named Hue, who wishes to make use of her strengths and become a storyteller. She's imaginative, introspective, and contemplates many of her actions, and while this self-awareness has it's ups, the major down is that it makes leaving this comfort zone of hers tough.

It's not until the unforeseen discovery of powerful crystals that make up a whole - and hold as keys to various alternate universes - gets the attention of her small town that she decides to take advantage of the moment by documenting the information, but not without massive hesitancy. This sets her in a quest with the mayor's assistant, Starbait, and the newly found robot, Alkine, to explore what these worlds hold, all for the sake of acquiring new knowledge for their home planet. This takes much longer than intended, however, when they unmask a larger problem that puts the lives of those who inhabit these worlds - and more - at grave risk.

This story is currently a W.I.P., and significant details are possibly temporary.

YAY INTRO POST!!

NOW, WHO THE HECK ARE YOU?

Hi, hello, and greetings! My codename is Tru (other things you can call me are Aster and Astro, and maybe Hue but I have an OC named Hue so I might get confuzzled). I am an afro-irish girl who currently goes by she/they pronouns, and I love love LOVE writing and illustrating (I do both traditional and digital art). Because I love those things so much, I decided to make this account, with my main/personal being @randomdidsomething (no longer active). Currently looking for some cool moots in the creative sphere, have you be a fellow writer, traditional/digital artist, screenwriter, animator, etc., or just a jack of all trades :)

Very good question! As of now, this blog is just my journey in personal growth within the sphere of art and general creative works. I'm very passionate about my original stuff right now, and I'm currently working on an animated series called "Beyond Time and Space," which is a fantasy, portal world, coming of age adventure. More on that another day because I'm still trying to figure out how I can talk about it without going off the rails about why I love it so much :) In other words, expect most of my posts to also be w.i.p.s and fanart of that.

OKAY. UH, ANYTHING THAT INTERESTS YOU?

As said before, I'm very much into original art in general, but what type of art specifically piques my interest? A good old mix of fantasy and sci-fi is something I will always love to see, especially if they're together. Give me something about a techno-magic alliance and I will EAT THAT UP! Nothing is better than good old robots and wizards being pals :) (also anything featuring minority characters, like I'll lap that stuff up, buddy boy, yum yum)

My interests do tend to fluctuate, though. One moment I'll be into both, another moment just one, and the next I'll be into neither of them but rather the psychology of the human condition. It really just depends.

Fandom-wise, I'd generally consider myself multifandom, or just out of fandoms in general. Some would consider me part of the Disney sphere (or as I like to call it, "Gisnep"), others see me as a huge transformers fan (and don't get them wrong, I definitely am), but I actually haven't been indulging in those things for a VERY long while now (at least up until 2023). The only fandom I've been consistent with as of recent is the object show community, and that's only because my brother's in it.

"Starbait. Most just call me 'Star.' Deputy Mayor." "'Starbait'? As in fist food?" "..." - Starbait (properly) meeting Hue for the first time.

More than anything, Starbait is driven by a desire to help and support his community in any way possible. The deputy mayor often acts on his gut, and is most often considering his past experiences when mingling in and outside of the workplace, making him quite the valuable asset when it comes to advice (even if it's not always solicited). To his own dismay, this quick judgement can sometimes lead to him mistrusting his peers, losing some great opportunities in the process. Despite this, in the eyes of others, Starbait is seen as stoic, generous, straightforward, and harboring great leadership potential; as Starbait sees it, he's just doing his job.

No, Starbait's name being related to fish bait was not intentional; that knowledge wasn't acquired until BTaS's scripts were starting to be written, more than a year after he was named

Very early in BTaS's development, Starbait had been considered a favorite by those who stumbled upon the project, either because of his design, his personality, how he's portrayed in the series itself (says those who've been able to read the entire script of the first draft of the first episode) and/or all three

Summer 2021 Nerdy Reading and Watching:

I don't have as much time for reading and watching fiction as I used to, or to post my thoughts about it, but here's some things I read/saw this summer so far:

Cat Woman: Soulstealer (graphic novel):  The art starts out sketchy and improves as it goes.  You have to get used to this being a younger Selina, just starting out, who has a fling with Luke Fox (Batwing) instead of Brice Wayne (Batman), but other than that, fairly solid.  I think they overdid Selina's backstory and skills, stuff I know that's usually on par with how they overdo male superhero's skills/backstory, but eh.  Catwoman really should be simple: woman who grew up poor, is good at stealing shiny things from the rich, dresses like a cat because she likes cats.  I prefer the backstory in this for her sister over the one in the main comics, though (anything is preferable to Blackmask torture scenes, really).

Batman: The Adventures Continue "season 1" (comic):  A decent Batman vs. robots and Lex Luthor story to start, Slade trying to recruit Robin like in the TT cartoon but BTAS style, followed by What If Jason Todd was part of the BTAS which.... doesn't really work, since BTAS Tim is a combo of Tim and Jason (even slightly refrenced).  And they went with Jason wanted to kill criminals and was BAD ALL ALONG angle, and removed a lot of the emotional angle of why he wanted Bats to kill joker so it... fell flat for me (read the main canon comics or watch the redhood movie instead).  Ends with a Christmas story that feels like it almost could’ve been a real episode (except that Harley/Ivy are more clearly a couple than would;ve been allowed on 90s kids TV).  There was also a story involving Azreal which reminded me its been almost a decade since I read the entire Knightfall arc.  So maybe... I'm just getting tried of superhero comics?

Vampire the Masquerade: Winter's Teeth:  ah, this is how I like my vamps.  A variety of vamps in personality, ability, and social standing, with varying degrees of sympathetic stories to an acknowledgement that all vampires are kind of a-holes (also to varying degrees).  Don't read if you're squeamish about blood (don't read any vampire story if you're squeamish about blood?)

Gundam Thunderbolt.  There's fantastic detailed animation and Jazz like in Cowboy Bebop (so much so I thought it was made by the same people).   But there's also war is terrible for both sides,  causes grief and loss, maiming of bodies,  and destruction on a mass scale of Gundam.  There is literally now way you can miss the driving point of this one for "wow cool robot".  Very well made.  But kind of intense and depressing.  Japanese with English subtitles only, there was no dub made.

I've also rewatched Farscape.  It is hornier, sillier, and more morally grey than I remember it being.  I mean, I remember it being all of those things, but it is MORE of it.   Just like watching back in the late 90s/early 2000s when it originally aired on SyFy, I find myself more distracted by the makeup, costumes and puppetry which most often I'm impressed by (unless they are the aliens of the week instead of reoccurring characters, then they tend to skimp on silly wigs).  The things I remember, more than the plot (I don't know how some of you people have near photographic memories for plot, given enough time I forget everything but a few still images from anything I watch), is how Zaan's skin changed in blue hue from season 1 to 2, The movie alien colors not matching the show colors, Chiana's necklace which looked like a bunch of swords stabbing her neck, how impressed I am with the pilot puppet in general (still am).  Or, how I didn't really care for either the show or the movie's ending (I think I would have preferred the show's ending minus the very last scene... just stop with the proposal).  I notice its inconsistent when it comes to things aliens know and don’t know (makeup exists on many worlds they visit yet Chiana didn’t know what it was until she visited Earth?).  Weirdly, the one thing I think it does a good job with is depicting how when people go through repeated trauma and ordeals, it has a long term effect on them.   Something I don't think I appreciated as much when I watched it the first time.  Poor John never fully recovered after being tortured in the chair (didn’t help that awful things kept happening after that, but it was the point where his character permanently changed).
