A heated controversy erupted within Parliament following the revelation of images capturing a Christmas celebration hosted by Democratic Bulgaria. Georgi Svilensky, a member of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), unveiled photos portraying cakes shaped to resemble the Soviet Army monument, fueling intense debate and criticism.
The cakes were intricately decorated, with one displaying sugar-crafted heads and feet, symbolizing figures from the dismantled monument. The other cake depicted the monument in its original form before its removal. Svilensky condemned the event, referring to the attendees as 'the new barbarians.' Outside the parliamentary session, Ivan Chenchev from the BSP urged the resignation of all politicians involved in the controversial cake celebrations.
Earlier today, the Administrative Court in Sofia stated that the dismantling of the Soviet Army Monument lacked a legal mandate, leading to an immediate cessation as per the court's directive.
An in-depth investigation revealed that the regional administration initiated the dismantling without formal authorization, relying solely on an expert assessment and a budget allocation of BGN 260,000. These actions were undertaken without proper documentation or administrative backing, despite the monument's transition from public state property to private ownership.
This cessation resulted from a petition submitted by the pro-Russian party "Vazrazhdane" and the "Stand Up.BG" movement under Maya Manolova's leadership. In response, the regional administration intends to challenge the court's decision before the approaching Friday deadline.
Simultaneously, the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) urged Chief Prosecutor Borislav Sarafov to investigate and hold accountable the regional governor and involved officials in the monument's removal.

UPIS holds first BSP & GSP investiture since pandemic
The University of the Philippines Integrated School (UPIS) recently held its first investiture and camp since the pandemic, officially ushering in new members of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) and Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP). The BSP held their investiture in the 3-6 Bulwagan on March 1, while the GSP had theirs in the 7-12 Gym on March 8.
Boy Scouts from Grades 3-6 and Senior Scouts from Grades 7-10, along with their club advisers, selected faculty, and former Senior Scouts, organized the BSP investiture and camp. The investiture ceremony included the acceptance of the new members of the BSP, oath-taking, and the Paglagay ng Alampay where the scouting neckerchief is worn to symbolize their official recognition as Boy Scouts. A message was also delivered by the second-in-command of the Quezon City BSP Council, Asst. Chief Scout Executive Amado Dela Cruz. After the investiture, a bonfire was also done.
According to Mr. Joseph Guiao, adviser of the Senior Scouts, adjustments were made in the scouts’ schedule due to the pandemic, and the investiture was pushed back to the second semester as the organization needed to familiarize itself first with the procedures and preparations necessary for their activities.
“Due to the pandemic, the Phoenix in UPIS didn't have a proper “passing of the torch”.. We, current Phoenixes were lucky we got to go to the World Scout Jamboree in Korea to make up for our lack of experience. In relation to that, we didn't really have much experience in planning an event such as the investiture, but the investiture was still a success thanks to kuya Raymond (former Senior Scout) guiding us through the formalities,” said Troy Dela Torre, one of the six leaders or Phoenixes of the club.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
On the other hand, it is the first time the Junior and Senior Scouts of GSP held a joint investiture with the Star Scouts from Grade 3. This was due to the PUV transport strike last December 2023 which delayed the original date of both the Star and Senior Scouts’ investiture, moving it to March this year.
The GSP investiture program was organized by the advisers and co-advisers of the Star, Junior, and Senior Scouts. The program was executed as follows: recitation of the Law and Promise of the Star Scouts, appointment of the new Junior and Senior GSP, including the Cadets and Troop leaders, followed by the donning of pins and the alampay by the Troop Leaders and parents, respectively. After the investiture, a one-day camp was held. This included the Bravery Test (Senior Scouts only), Base Method, Flag Making and Presentation, Awarding Ceremony, and many more.
“Ngayon, naki-join din ang Grade 3 Star Scouts na may ibang program; parang iba yung flow nila. So ang challenge ay paano i-integrate yung dalawang program na ‘yon para maging isa lang at walang mawawalang importanteng mga parts ng flow ng program,” stated the adviser of the GSP, Asst. Prof. Portia Dimabuyu, on the challenges in the change of the program due the joint investiture.
“We had 2-3 days of practice in the gym. Since we didn't have enough time to practice and plan, the Star Scouts were included in the investiture of the Senior Scouts so the flow of the program was longer and kind of messy,” added Corinne Juliette Hernandez, the head Cadet.
Prior to the pandemic, participation in the GSP was not mandatory for Grades 11 and 12 as clubs were typically limited up to Grade 10. However, there arose a necessity for experienced Senior Cadets to assist and guide the newly enrolled Scouts and Cadets.
Tumblr media
Both the BSP and GSP investiture and camp required careful preparation, from arranging the venue and getting the necessary camping permits. Prior to the event, the Scouts were registered with the Quezon City Council. Briefings and practices were also conducted to ensure the smooth flow of the program.
The pandemic greatly impacted the BSP and GSP, resulting in a lack of experience among members and leader scouts. Nonetheless, the investiture and camp were still a success, thanks to the guidance of advisers and former Senior Scouts who made sure to help the new Scouts become official members of the UPIS BSP and GSP.

"Mother-Daughter's Death More In News...": Mayawati Slams UP Government
"The 'bulldozer politics' of the BJP government is taking the lives of innocent poor people which is very tragic," Mayawati
Tumblr media
Lucknow: Taking a dig at the BJP-led Uttar Pradesh government, BSP chief Mayawati said the death of a mother-daughter duo during an anti-encroachment drive in Kanpur Dehat had garnered more attention than the recent UP Global Investors Summit-2023.
"The 'bulldozer politics' of the BJP government is taking the lives of innocent poor people which is very tragic. The government should change its anti-people approach," she said in a tweet in Hindi.
Bulldozers used for demolishing illegal buildings have been in hot discussion in the state, inviting the sobriquet of "bulldozer Baba" for Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
A 45-year-old woman and her 20-year-old daughter died in a fire during an anti-encroachment drive in a village in the Kanpur Dehat district of Uttar Pradesh on Monday, police said.
Mayawati said the tragic incident was in the news than the 'much-publicized' global investors summit organized by the state government recently.
She asked, "How will the people benefit from such a situation?" Police have booked 39 people, including a sub-divisional magistrate, four revenue officials, a police station head, and several other cops, on murder and additional charges in the incident.

[ad_1] GG News Bureau Mumbai, 23rd November. The results of the Maharashtra Assembly elections have captured international attention, trending prominently in the United Kingdom early on Saturday, November 23. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Mahayuti coalition has crossed the halfway mark in the 288-seat assembly, as per the latest trends. England accounted for the bulk of the search volume, with Scotland also showing considerable interest. Maharashtra, India’s wealthiest state by GDP per capita, recorded a Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) of â‚č2.89 lakh crore in 2022–2023. With its status as the financial capital of India, the election results are expected to have a significant impact not only on the state’s population but also on the expatriate community in the UK. The ruling Mahayuti coalition—comprising the BJP, Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena faction, and the Ajit Pawar-led NCP—secured 209 seats, well beyond the majority mark of 145. Eknath Shinde is projected to continue as Chief Minister. The single-phase election saw a voter turnout of 66.05%, higher than the 61.1% recorded in 2019, demonstrating strong voter engagement despite claims of anti-incumbency. The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), which consists of the Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and Sharad Pawar’s NCP faction, failed to mount a significant challenge, with their total seats falling far short of expectations. Congress contested 101 seats, the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) fielded 95 candidates, and Sharad Pawar’s NCP faction contested 86. Other parties like the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), which fielded 237 candidates, and AIMIM, which contested 17 seats, also struggled to make an impact. Why the UK Interest? The interest in Maharashtra’s polls among the UK audience could stem from the expatriate community’s deep ties with the state, as well as its economic significance. The election outcome will influence investment opportunities, policy decisions, and governance in the state, making it a focal point for global observers. With Mahayuti’s sweeping victory, Maharashtra’s political landscape is set to consolidate further under the BJP-led coalition, reaffirming its dominance despite opposition claims of voter fatigue. The final results are expected to cement Eknath Shinde’s leadership and the coalition’s roadmap for the next five years.   The post Maharashtra Election Results Trend in UK as BJP-Led Mahayuti Crosses Majority Mark appeared first on Global Governance News- Asia's First Bilingual News portal for Global News and Updates. In the Race for Uttar Pradesh: The Impact of Owaisi-Apna Dal Faction Alliance
The battleground of Uttar Pradesh's Lok Sabha elections is heating up, with major players like the BJP-led NDA and the Samajwadi Party-Congress INDIA bloc gearing up for a fierce contest. However, amidst the political juggernauts, the emergence of a new 'front' comprising smaller parties, including AIMIM and Apna Dal (K), has the potential to reshape the state's political landscape.
Tumblr media
This newly formed alliance, named the 'PDM Nyay Morcha', aims to represent the marginalized sections of society, posing a direct challenge to the SP's PDA (Pichchde, Dalit, Alpsankhyak) pitch. Led by AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi and Apna Dal (K) leader Pallavi Patel, the alliance aims to capitalize on the sentiments of the Muslim-Yadav vote bank, traditionally aligned with the SP.
The AIMIM, although a relatively new player in Uttar Pradesh politics, has shown signs of promise, particularly in urban local body elections. Similarly, Apna Dal (K), founded as a splinter group from the BSP, has struggled to establish itself but remains a formidable force, especially in certain constituencies.
Despite their individual challenges, the combined force of AIMIM and Apna Dal (K) could potentially sway the electoral outcomes, especially in constituencies where their vote shares exceed the winning margins. While they may not emerge as major players in terms of Lok Sabha seats, their impact on the electoral dynamics cannot be overlooked.
As the political landscape continues to evolve, all eyes will be on how this alliance shapes the electoral narrative and influences the outcomes in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh elections.

Peso Strengthens: Latest Philippine Currency Update
Tumblr media
  Peso's Resilience Against the Dollar
The Philippine peso displayed remarkable strength at the beginning of November, touching the 55 level during Friday's trading. Simultaneously, local shares saw a positive trend.   Peso's Surge The peso saw a notable increase of 0.63 against the US dollar, closing the day at 56.1, a substantial improvement from Tuesday's closing rate of 56.73.
Intraday Fluctuations
The day opened with a stronger peso at 56.60 compared to the previous trading's starting point at 56.80 against the greenback. The local currency exhibited a fluctuation from 55.93 to 56.60 during the day, resulting in an average level of 56.25. Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. (RCBC) chief economist Michael Ricafort pointed out that the intraday trading at 55.93 marked a new low in nearly three months, dating back to August 7, 2023. Ricafort attributed the stronger peso to "seasonal increases in OFW remittances to finance holiday-related spending, especially during this extended holiday weekend" and "the recent decline in global crude oil prices, hitting a three-month low, which could reduce the country's oil import bill and narrow the trade deficit."   Surge in Trade Volume Trade volume surged to USD1.84 billion, significantly surpassing Tuesday's volume of USD860.9 million. "For Monday, the peso exchange rate is expected to range between 56 to 56.20 levels," added Ricafort.
Positive Momentum in the Stock Market
Simultaneously, the Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) experienced gains over the two trading days of the week.   PSEi's Gains On Friday, PSEi advanced by 15.49 points, although it fell short of the 6,000 mark, closing the day at the level of 5,989.27. All Shares also registered an increase of 8.88 points, reaching 3,263.05. Most sectoral indices ended positively, except for Financials, which declined by 8.20 points. Advancers outnumbered decliners at 106 to 59, with 49 remaining unchanged.
The Philippine Peso's Recent Trends
Factors Contributing to Peso Depreciation The Philippine peso has seen a weakening trend against the US dollar since Ferdinand Marcos Jr. assumed the presidency in June 2022. The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) reported an average peso-dollar exchange rate of 52.239 in June 2022, which increased to 55.728 in May 2023. This reflects a depreciation of approximately 7% in the peso's value against the dollar since Marcos's inauguration.
Factors Behind Peso Depreciation
Several factors have contributed to the peso's depreciation. One significant factor is the global economic slowdown, which has led to reduced demand for Philippine exports. Additionally, rising interest rates in the United States have made the dollar more appealing to investors.
BSP's Measures
In response to the peso's decline, the BSP has taken various measures to support the local currency, including raising interest rates and intervening in the foreign exchange market. However, the effectiveness of these measures has been limited thus far.
Peso-Dollar Exchange Rate Trends
Exchange Rate Fluctuations The peso-dollar exchange rate has shown fluctuations over time, reflecting the evolving economic landscape. Here are some key data points: - June 2022: 52.239 - July 2022: 53.306 - August 2022: 54.406 - September 2022: 55.498 - October 2022: 56.595 - November 2022: 57.689 - December 2022: 58.787 - January 2023: 59.889 - February 2023: 60.996 - March 2023: 62.109 - April 2023: 63.222 - May 2023: 55.316 It is essential to note that the peso-dollar exchange rate constantly fluctuates, making future predictions challenging. Nevertheless, the current trend suggests that the peso is likely to continue weakening against the dollar in the near term.   Sources: THX News & Philippine News Agency. Read the full article

All India Majilis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Owaisi challenges Rahul Gandhi to fight election from Hyderabad
The chief of All India Majilis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) on Sunday gave an upfront challenge to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi asking him to contest the Lok Sabha election from Hyderabad and not from Wayanad, Kerala. Owaisi was addressing a public meeting in Hyderabad where he took a jibe at the Congress Party over the Babri Masjid demolition in 1992 when the Narasimha Rao government was in action.
Addressing the cheering crowd, Owaisi said, “I am challenging your leader (Rahul Gandhi) to contest elections from Hyderabad, not Wayanad. You keep giving big statements, come to the ground and fight against me.”
“People from Congress will say a lot of things, but I am ready...Babri Masjid and Secretariat's mosque were demolished under the Congress regime.”
The challenges from Owaisi came shortly after Rahul Gandhi declared that his Party would be clearly winning Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Gandhi added that the competition in Rajasthan is very close and the party believes it will come out as the victor.
Owaisi also talked about the communal slurs hurled at BSP lawmaker Danish Ali by BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri. The AIMIM chief said, “When there will be a mob lynching of a Muslim in the Parliament of the country”.
“Where is your 'Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas? The Prime Minister of this country will not speak a word.”
“The person who spoke nonsense about Muslim MP in the Parliament had also stood in front of me. I told him ‘baith
baith jaa meri jubaan ka muqabla nahi kar sakta’ (sit down, you can't argue with me)”.
For the uninitiated, during a Lok Sabha session, derogatory remarks from Bidhuri targeting Bahujan Samaj Party member Ali while discussing the success of Chandrayan 3 created a huge controversy with opposition party members demanding strict action against the BJP MP.

With 157 votes "in favor" and 57 against, the parliament adopted a Declaration in support of Ukraine's membership in NATO. "Vazrazhdane" and BSP again declared themselves "against" this decision.
Kostadin Kostadinov's concerns:
"The big question that has no answer here - 'What does Bulgaria get in return'? A pat on the shoulder, perhaps? It is obvious that we will have absolutely no benefit from this. The questions that this declaration raises are much more than the answers. This declaration, dear compatriots, is the emanation of national betrayal in this National Assembly"
The answer of Yordan Tsonev from DPS:
"And what is terrible about this declaration and where does it involve Bulgaria in the war? The declaration is a call for Ukraine to be accepted into NATO after the end of the military conflict. So open doors apply to us, until our acceptance. And then the principle of closed doors applies. Why? It's profitable for someone like that. However, the principle is the same. And we, as members of this organization, must protect it."
Meanwhile, at the suggestion of Denitsa Sacheva from GERB-SDS, the deputies decided to drop from their agenda the discussion of the declaration, with which they call on the SJC to stop the procedure for electing a new chief prosecutor, because the plenary session of the Council has already taken such a decision.
