skk that got married for a mission (that didn't need them to get legally bound but they did it either way) as teens in the mafia, and now, years later, Chuuya is fed up with Dazai being unsanitary while "temporarily" crashing at his apartment and demands a divorce for an indefinite period of time (aka until they're mushy-hatey with each other again).

Nikolai's the judge, Sigma's the lawyer (aka the guy trying to translate the mushy-hatey language of skk into normal words), and Fyodor's the jury with Bram and Aya. The ADA and PM are the unfortunate, unwilling witnesses to the "horribly domestic lives of Osamu Dazai and Chuuya Nakahara" and has to recount instances of them being a couple.

Ango brings out the actual paperwork for a divorce and skk glare at him like hell hath no fury comparable. Then it's offered they live apart, and both react so dramatically it's like you suggested they rip out their hearts for a day. Dazai even pulls a Victorian-lady faint. Sigma walks out at this point.

In the end, it's settled Dazai sleeps on the couch for a week.

Soo, 1- you were saved by the mafia at a young age and by the mafia i mean Dazai specifically.

2- it was like an instant love at first sight for you.

3- a small introduction convo happened between you two and he asked you to join the mafia and become his assistant.

(you don't have an ability btw)

4- for the first few days you did what he asked you to do, met some people (Chuuya)

5- so like after month(your workspace is in Dazai's office) a girl comes inside the office and just screams "OSAMU I MISSED YOU" and you're just there, sitting on your chair, hella confused 👁️👄👁️

6- That girl turned out to be his Fiance. They were engaged due to mafia buisness.

7- she was a sweet person to everyone including you (kind of loud but still a sweet person) tho you couldn't help but stay away from her because you're literally in love with something who's supposed to be marrying her.

8- *timeskip* y'all are 17 now, you have noticed how close Dazai, his fiance and Chuuya were. Like you will be working on you desk and those three would just be having their own little picnic (yep they forgot about you)

9- Dazai still talks with you, a lot actually, whenever you two are alone (or Chuuya is there) he would tell you about his days, his failed suicide attempts, how much he hates Chuuya etc.

10- you also noticed one more thing, Chuuya was fond of Dazai's Fiance (let's name her Yumi). Whenever they all are together, you could see how his eyes lit up when she laughs at his remarks or jokes.

11- you did feel lonely but looking at them laughing together also made you happy since you considered them as someone special in your life.

(i feel like I'm making the situation really sad for the reader)

Now-

It was a normal day, you were filling up some documents that Dazai told you about. The Soukoku duo were on a mission and Miss Yumi was at her home. Quite peaceful for you. You actually liked your job (unlike Ada Dazai) so once the documents were over you started to do the things that Dazai would've assigned you to the next day. You also knew if Dazai finds out about this, he would be upset since he didn't like it when you overwork but you didn't care since you wanted the next day to be free (also you knew if you apologised Dazai would forgive you)

The office doors opened and you almost fell from you chair. The person that just came in was Yumi and she looked pissed. She looked around and her eyes feel on you.

"where is he?"

"p-pardon?"

She inhaled and asked again, "where is Osamu?"

"uhm he's on a mission right now, it would probably take an hour for him to come back..." You replied in a soft tone. This was the first time you had seen her like this and that scared you a little bit.

"1 hour huh? Ok then miss assistant, l have something to talk about."

Here Yumi, is the same "similar to you" girl from the breakup idea, so yeah she's not a sweet person. Also she's my fic ideas punching bag. She's inspired by all of those manhwa white lotuses that i hate. But she's slightly smarter and better than them.

Y'all would kinda hate Chuuya here but what can we do? He's in love with the wrong person

Listen guys I know we all like to think of our favorite queer pairings as married, but in Japan gay marriage is unfortunately illegal, now this isn’t some that has to effect your fanfics, but I would actually like if we as a community acknowledged it more. I just think it’s more impactful if the characters had to struggle with the biases of some of the people around them. It would make the characters situation more relatable, and it would also make for interesting plot for the fic, even if it is just a side thing. For some of the ships it might even make for interesting cultural shock, like with Ranpoe, since America does allow gay marriage in most states, while Japan doesn’t it would probably make for a funny interaction. My point is while homophobia and discrimination is unfortunate, it doesn’t mean we have to ignore it in stories, and pretend that it doesn’t exist at all. Idk man I just want some of my fics to be more interesting and this is one way to do it.

Edit: this is not for those who write stories mainly as escapism. If what you want in the story is to play around without the shit called homophobia, then you do you.

Edit: I wanted to say that, this could also very well be used for crack, considering canon BSD, and not an AU where they aren't all criminals. Just imagine, Dazai in a wedding dress, using a machine gun to take down the government officials who won't let him have his wedding with Chuuya (or whoever you ship him with). It also kinda depends on what year it is in Japan

chuuya has collected a fair amount of trauma, betrayals and grief throughout his life, hasn't he?

that's why most people tend to think that dazai's death would be the worst thing that could happen to chuuya. everyone else died. the suicidal maniac is the closest person in his life who is still alive (ironically).

and you know what? to me, that isn't the worst possible outcome.

give me dazai and chuuya reuniting after that four year gap, going on ada/pm joint missions together, working as a duo again.

give me chuuya who feels like a big part of him is back, like he found a piece of the puzzle that had been missing for too long. give me stolen glances, subtle touches, the shame that comes with wanting to get closer to that betrayer that is his former partner. give me shared laughter, fake banter, lightheartedness. give me chuuya slowly emerging from the water that has been filling his lungs for the past four years.

until a major event occurs, and dazai loses his memories.

and chuuya cannot help but stare helplessly at the man he once knew—the one he hated the most yet knew him best—as the memories of the two of them inevitably slip through chuuya's fingertips, leaving the redhead with the ghost of the man who used to know the smallest things about him and is now unable to even recall his name.

an AU where Dazai is a streamer in Yokohama, and decides to do a bunch of different segments

watch me prank my roommate! — but it's Chuuya and he does that stupid shaving cream in the hand prank, tickles Chuuya's nose while he's asleep and promptly gets punched (chat warned him not to do it)

tries to do a 24 hour stream but like 12 of those hours is him fast asleep on a couch and he's getting donation spammed with text-to-speech telling him to wake up

approaches different people on the street to ask them where they got their shoes and it causes a scene (local police politely tell him to walk away, and chat gets spammed with emotes)

goes to a café and takes all his viewers out on a date, but really he just likes how that particular café does latte art

makes stupid donation and follower goals, like for every 3,000 yen he gets, he'll tell Chuuya a bad pickup line, and at 300k followers he'll take his viewers joyriding on Chuuya's motorcycle (and then chat tells him he's speeding and making illegal turns)

just...Chuuya getting dragged into all this and going along with it because it's how Dazai pays the bills (those pickup lines get so cheesy Chuuya tries REALLY hard not to laugh)

Honestly you were scared af right now. Yumi didn't even look like the Yumi you knew.

Right now you were at her home, in her room, sitting in her chair and drinking the tea she brewed.

Is this poisioned?

Probably not, but the way she was behaving right now you would have some doubts.

You both have been in the same position for like 30 minutes. 15 minutes of sitting and avoiding looking at eachother and 15 minutes for tea. During this, no words were spoken between you two.

"Osamu is pretty charming isn't he?"

"...he is, i think" you didn't know if you should've agreed or disagreed. She was smiling and was looking at her tea while swirling the cup.

"he's charming, attractive, funny and..." She looked at you, "he's mine and mine only" that smile turned into a smirk.

You still didn't know how to react to this. Like always, you were confused as hell. Yumi stood up from her chair walked to her window.

"you see me and Osamu met eachother at the age of 14. Everyone around me said that we matched very well and i thought the exact same too. Then Chuuya came in the picture and we were the best trio anyone could imagine. Of course i felt amazing with all the attention i was getting, who wouldn't? But then Osamu found you, things changed after you came" you could she her grip tightening on the railing.

"Y/n, when i first saw you entering the office with Osamu, i was very angry. Why was Osamu coming here with another girl? Why was he holding her hand? Who is she? A lot of thoughts similar to these came to my mind. Theses thoughts stayed for a lot of days and i could say that younger me despised seeing you"

Now your whole body was definitely shaking. You were beyond shocked, "you despised me?"

"yes y/n, i despised you and i still do. I hate people who don't know their place and you are definitely one of those people. I kept quiet for so long and acted nicely infront of you because i thought you would stay away from him by looking at our relationship but when i saw you two talking and laughing yesterday, i couldn't control myself" She was right now infront of you, holding your chin in a very harsh manner.

What she saw yesterday was true but there was something she didn't know. Yes, you and Dazai were talking and laughing, it was about Yumi's upcoming birthday and the gift Chuuya and him brought. It was completely a normal conversation.

"M-miss please let me explain-" she stopped holding your chin and wiped her hand with a tissue. "I don't need your explanation because there's nothing to explain here, stay away from Osamu"

She called a guard and told him to take you back. You did nothing but follow the guard.

He asked whether you would go back to the port mafia or your home since it was pretty late now. You told him you would like to go back to your home and quickly showed your address.

You didn't know when you reached your small home. The conversation you had with Yumi made you feel like the bad person in the story but you knew that was wrong and you were clearly innocent.

You tried to get your mind off these stuff and just take a shower.

That's when you realised...Dazai had reached the pm hours ago. You never told him that you would be absent from the office and you also remembered you left your phone on your desk....

this is a continuation to the last fic idea. Here y/n finally finds out what type of a person Yumi is. I hope y'all would hate her too :D

At first it would feel like Y/n is just a side character or the narrator of the story who has some interection with the characters but after this things would get more interesting

Again I'm not a writer and also a person whose first language is not English so if someone finds this interesting and want to rewrite it with their own twist then they can definitely do it, just don't forget to mention me :)

Im gonna write hcs on my next post and it would be mostly about Dazai and y/n's boss-assistant relationship.

yokohama bay hotel by spirallings [Words: 9.5k | Chapters: 1/1 | T]

Honestly, inject this fic in my bloodstream, I got emotional just opening it and rereading the first line to write this review. Social media AU with vlogger Aku who one day finds Atsushi’s music channel, reaches out to him to express his highest admirations, and the rest is a beautiful story of building trust, friendship and falling in love. Immaculate narration, easy flowing and so heartfelt, had me smiling (and crying but shh) throughout the whole thing. A unique storytelling style through the occasional tweets, texts, emails and subtle descriptions of the scene, mixed with classic narration, strikingly in-character dialogue and songs. Just open it to see what I mean, it is genuinely like nothing I’ve read before and I hold this story very close to my heart. There is also a 150 songs playlist that goes with the fic, def some bangers in there.

and the funny thing is i would have married you (if you had stuck around) by cheezee [Words: 11k | Chapters: 1/1 | T]

Time travel and reincarnation, a tragic (but hopeful nonetheless) story following Akutagawa’s death on that ship and Atsushi traversing space and time to find him again, and again… and again… with the cursed fate taking his love away from him. It’s an emotional ride of happiness and melancholy, hope and despair, broken promises and lost memories. This reads as a classic tale of love, personally reminds me of a greek tragedy, and the writing is impressively poetic, simply pulling on the heartstrings.

...I wanna be next to you by Iyrs [Words: 2k | Chapters: 1/1 | G]

(i am definitely not biased because I made art for this, no sir) Wonderfully tasteful narration and the softest words of comfort, beautifully showing how much their relationship has progressed, the trust and ease and emotional vulnerability. There is one particular most domestic scene that lives in my mind rent-free, trust me and give this a quick read.

the plan (YOUR FINGERS) by lizandre [Words: 5k | Chapters: 1/1 | T]

I’m gonna struggle a lot to explain this one lol (if the trust me bro argument is not enough). I could personally not find a better word to describe the style of writing than simply genius. If I may quote the author from the summary, this is a story of how “Akutagawa Ryunosuke loses it entirely.” It has the humor, it has the pain, it has the classic psychoanalysis that every good fic has of course. Basically Aku not realizing the emotional turmoil he’s experiencing is not being possessed or mind controlled or going mad, but simply falling in love. And Atsushi being the voice and hand of reason to get him out of his madness. Aku here is as unapologetically dramatic as any theatre kid could be, 10/10, not even trying. Just straight up check everything this person has written imao, this fic is just one of many masterpieces.

Safe Underground by forget_me_nots [Words: 25k | Chapters: 5/5 | M (Violence, Main Character Death)]

This one is a hidden gem, severely underrated, criminally low exposure. It is an AU based on the videogame Lobotomy Corporation (that I actually had no knowledge of, but you don’t need to know it to enjoy the fic at all). Horror, gore and panic with close to zero comfort, grief of death and living nightmares. The style of writing is extremely skillful, with meaningful repeating motifs and metaphors. All of the characters are incredibly well-written and the growing friendship between our main duo in circumstances of utter tragedy is as enjoyable to read as ever. Pay attention to the coffee.

Moonlit Resurrection by june_berry [Words: 143k | Chapters: 16/? | E (Violence, Dead Dove: Do Not Eat)]

And while we’re on the theme of madness! I need to take a deep breath for this one. Incredibly depressing story on existentialism, trauma and self-destruction, told by poetic writing like no other. To quote the author: “Atsushi is hit by an ability that sends him spiraling. Forced to confront his traumatic past or die in two weeks, Atsushi begrudgingly teams up with the man he hasn’t seen in years: Akutagawa Ryuunosuke.” The highlight of this fic is honestly the narration style itself, it delves deep into Atsushi’s and Akutagawa’s minds and perfectly encapsulates their own deteriorating psyche. Deeply introspective. This was, strangely enough and despite the lack of comfort, a healing experience for me, basically a "Hey you see what happens to Atsushi when he got depressed, maybe don't do that." Worked wonders, truly. But be careful if you’re not in a good state of mind because it may have the opposite effect. Also cannot forget to give fair credit to @the-bengali-diva for incidentally introducing me to this one, they’ve even made paintings for the fic! Thank you truly, I would have never found this masterpiece alone!

Of Monsters and Men by Mississippi_moon [Words: 32k | Chapters: 18/18 | T]

On a brighter note! Mercenary Akutagawa failing to assassinate Atsushi, the Prince of Yokohama (and of course slowly falls in love with him instead). Made me smile and laugh and clutch my chest so many times, I just couldn’t put it down [also kindly named my google docs analysis for this “the royal dopamine injection*, i hope that says something on its own]. Very good humor mixed with equally good torture and suffering (and fluff and comfort!). The progression of sskk’s relationship is fantastic. Oh and Atsushi is a badass, that’s very important, long live Boldsushi.

Ma meilleure ennemie by @falloutjuli [Words: 13k | Chapters: 1/1 | M]

I swear I keep stumbling upon this author by accident without realizing I know them and I keep being blown away by their work. If the Arcane reference title is not enough for you, this is a little story about Aku and Atsu being thrown into an unforeseen Parisian vacation, where they dance and get that 'oh, oh' moment. Absolutely perfectly in-character dialogue, with many funny and even more heartfelt moments, all spiced up with the classic sskk banter.

So let us stop talkin' falsely now, The hour's getting late by FallOutJuli (again) [Words: 17k | Chapters: 1/1 | T]

This story made me so happy, an instant fix for a bad day at work that I still remember and am grateful for. Slow burn 1920s AU with reporter Atsushi and singer Akutagawa, great banter and even greater collaboration between those two, gradually growing closer and learning they can trust and be good for each other, both finding a muse in the other.

��Did you,” Akutagawa breathes, gasping as Atsushi presses the palms of his hands into Akutagawa’s shoulders, “know you were going to live?” “No,” Atsushi whispers, leaning close, eyes sharp. “I had a feeling, but… no. Did-,” “No.”

There is simply no better collection of words to express my feelings than this quote. Please read this if you need something to soothe your heart after chapter 121.5, or just in general for an introspective character study focused on the ever so complicated relationship of sskk, flourished with beautifully written domestic fluff, anxieties and quiet comfort, soft kisses and even softer words of reassurance. I am almost tearing up again just writing this silly tiny review, those two have my heart and more.
