Hell or High Water

So, @mottlemoth updated Hell or High Water overnight and I have since sent two messages to a friend:

So you can kind of guess my mindset today. :)

Alright so this post by @biceratops7 made me positively insane.

It made the alarm in my head go off because!!!!! Yeah!!! Stede only knows being needed, not wanted!!!

Do you know who else on the show is like that?

This guy:

Remember how, after the fuckery in Discomfort in a Married State, Izzy was about to leave, and Ed stopped him, saying

This draws such a painful parallel between Stede and Izzy.

Stede, who's been unwanted by everyone his whole life, only dragged from place to place to fulfill the role of the son of a wealthy landowner. Who had a marriage forced upon him, without even seeing his bride prior to the wedding day.

But then, in that little moment when he and Ed were signing off their lives and going to he privateering academy together, Ed showed him, for the very first time, that he is wanted, that somebody would go as far as subject themselves to a life working for the crown, if that means saving Stede's life.

Except here's where the parallel breaks, as Izzy doesn't have anyone to let him know that he's wanted instead of needed, that he isn't being kept around due to his usefulness, but for a level of fondness someone might have for him.

That being said, the development of the relationship between Izzy and Kraken!Ed in the future seasons might be fascinating as much as tragic. Both of them stuck between a rock and a hard place, where they're both unhappy, but neither is able to step up and say something.

Moth, I’m not sure if you take requests but……. I would literally die of pure happiness if you ever decided to write a wholesome stand alone Bryzzy fic with dom/sub dynamics 🥺

I would also die of happiness if I wrote this 🥺 I already have ideas. I'm trying not to touch them until I've finished the main story, lest I frolic off into the Bryzzy woods and am never seen again.

(This is so dumb. I shouldn't admit this. But one night I was really tired, struggling to settle, and decided to look for something short and soft and smutty to read. I put Israel Hands/John Bryce into the search on AO3 and wondered why nothing was coming up 🙃🙃🙃)

now that we’ve gotten such beautiful and soft a chapter as 25 with Ed and Stede which made me all mushy with feelings for them i cannot express how much i n e e d one with John and Izzy because however much i love me my stedward, hell or high water has me just overwhelmed with love for big soft brute man and tiny repressed angry boy. You’re such a wonderful author 🙏✨ thank you for all you do! 🥺❤️

This middle section of the story is Shamelessly Indulgent Healing, of all kinds. Everyone is going to have their sore parts kissed all better, then kissed a few more times just to be sure. After 150k of angst and peril, we all deserve a rest. Cosy soft touching time is on the way for Bryzzy too ❤️
