…
Dr. Bentley Rogers flung herself onto her couch after her long day at work. She knew that Sienna was already home, but she didn’t know where her other roommates were, or if they would be around at all. The day hadn’t been the worst, aside from Dr. Ramsey demanding too much from her yet again. She had just been busy and hadn’t seen anyone so she had no clue what plans people had made. And honestly, if there were no plans made, she would be just fine with going to bed, right now.
She heard a sound, then turned to see Sienna come out of the kitchen and into the living room to see Bentley sprawled out on the couch in her scrubs.
“Hey Bentley, how are you doing? I feel like I didn’t see you all day.”
Bentley rolled over onto her back, “Ugh, Sienna, today was like 95 thousand hours long and Dr. Ramsey was on my ass all day--”
“I bet he was-”
“Sienna!”
“What? He obviously likes you,” she raised her eyebrows and looked at Bentley knowingly.
“No, he doesn’t. He just never let me have a break, and kept giving me new cases, and I know it’s an honor for him to trust me with all of these cases, but I’m exhausted. He has me doing so much at the hospital, I don’t even know how I’m awake right now.”
“At least tomorrow is your day off. What are you going to do?”
Bentley rolled onto her side, and propped herself up on her elbow, “I don’t know. I guess tonight I can stay up as late as I want.”
“The real question is, with who?” Sienna was the only person who knew that Bentley had been seeing multiple people. Bentley hadn’t mentioned who exactly she was seeing, but it was pretty obviously between Bryce Lahela, Rafael Aveiro, and Ethan Ramsey. She didn’t spend her time with any people other than those three and her roommates.
With a smirk, Bentley smiled, “Well, it depends on who has their day off tomorrow with me…”
“Bryce does.”
Her face turned dark crimson. She had been spending a lot of time with Dr. Lahela outside of work. And at work. They took all of their breaks together, they ate lunch together, and when they saw each other in the hallway they would always talk for a long time. She loved talking to him about work. They had a great dynamic as co-workers, feeding off one another and working hard to make sure patients felt confident in their care. And their patients did feel confident. Bryce and Bentley both were beyond capable of projecting confidence, Bryce obviously more so than Bentley, but that was what she liked most about him. But right when Bentley started thinking that Bryce was ‘it’ she would run into the beautiful paramedic and he would melt her insides. She didn’t see Rafael nearly as much as she saw Bryce, but she wanted to. He was kind, thoughtful, considerate, sweet, and literally so handsome. And she could not get enough of him when she was with him.
“Do you know if Rafael does, too?”
Sienna sat up, “Rafael too?”
“Well, he’s so sweet. And handsome. He cares about people so much, all he does is for other people in his life. He is so wonderful, Sienna.”
“But how is he in bed?”
“We, haven’t--”
“What? But Bryce is here all the time! And he is clearly smitten with you. And clearly very interested in all you’ve got going on under those scrubs… I cannot believe you haven’t slept with Rafael.”
Bentley sighed and lay her head down on the couch, “It just hasn’t been the right time for that yet. He’s absolutely incredible and I enjoy spending time with him so much. But, I don’t know which one of them I want more, Sienna. They are so great, and I just can’t choose. I want them both so much.”
“You need to have sex with Rafael. Then you can decide.”
“What?” Bentley bolted upright, “I don’t think he wants to sleep with me without some form of commitment.”
“You should talk to both of them then. That’s the only way to make any headway on this. Maybe they’ll be okay with you dating both of them.”
“I can’t. That’s not me. I am a monogamist when it comes to a real relationship. When I’m just dating, it’s okay for me to see a couple of people at once.”
“What about Ethan? Is he in the running?”
“Nah. I just kinda want to bang him. It’s hot, he’s my boss, if that weren’t the situation I wouldn’t want him. But the other two? Beautiful, kind young men? Who are both so smart and care about me so much? I really, really do not know how to choose, Sienna.”
“I love Bryce, but I don’t know Rafael. So I can only speak to how Bryce interacts with you. The two of you are incredible together. But if you think Rafael is also incredible, you should explore both options.”
“Ugh…” Bentley sighed.
“Okay, ah, sorry I’m not being helpful. Here’s what you’re going to do. Text Rafael and see if he will be free tomorrow. Then, text Bryce and see if he will be free tomorrow. Spend the day with one and the afternoon and evening with the other. And tonight, come out and drink and we’ll figure it out from there!”
Bentley sighed and grabbed her phone, “Okay. You’re actually really good at this whole “helping people” thing. You make a really great doctor. And an even better friend.”
Sienna blushed and smiled, “Thank you so much. Now go get your men!”
Bentley Rogers: Hey Raf! What do you have going on tomorrow?
Bentley got up and walked into her room to grab her toiletries so she could shower and get ready for a night out. As she showered, she wondered if Bryce would be there. She knew Rafael wouldn’t be. But sometimes Bryce hung out with her friends, and it was always so much fun to dance with him and beat him at darts.
She jumped out of the shower and reached for her phone. She had many, many texts from her friend groupchat, which confirmed Bryce would be coming out to Donahue’s, and as she scrolled, she found she had one from Rafael.
Rafael Aveiro: I work an overnight, so I’ll be sleeping tomorrow during the day. Would you want to hang out tomorrow night?
Bentley texted back quickly, Tomorrow night would be perfect! What time?
She didn’t have to wait too long, I can probably be ready by 6.
Bentley Rogers: Awesome, any direction on what I should wear?
She saw the dots moving for a long time. Then got a series of texts from him.
Rafael Aveiro: Something you can dance in.
Rafael Aveiro: And something I can take off with ease at the end of the night.
Rafael Aveiro: Please ignore that if it was too forward. I am so sorry.
Bentley couldn’t type back fast enough, No no no! It was not too forward. I’ll keep both of those things in mind when I pick my outfit ;)
He typed back quickly Okay, great. I’ll see you then.
Bentley grinned and flopped down on her bed. Rafael wanted to go on a date with her and sleep with her after. She couldn’t breathe. It was going to happen and maybe she would have some clarity on the two men in her life. Although she had a sneaking suspicion that sleeping with Rafael was just going to make her more confused and less decisive.
Unconcerned about her day tomorrow, she changed into a pair of skintight leggings and a sheer crop top over a red bandeau bra. She knew Bryce hated when he had to peel leggings off of her at the end of the night, but he loved being able to dance with her with only the thinnest of fabrics between the two of them. Bentley turned to look at herself in the mirror, “Damn, I look good.”
“Yeah you do, girl,” Sienna walked in and put her hand on her hip.
“Damn, you too S. Danny gonna be there?”
Her face got red, very red, as she ran her hands over the flowy red top and the black shorts she was wearing, “So what if he is?”
“Sienna…”
“Okay, yes he’s going to be there. I really like him, but what if he doesn’t like me back? And then I break up with Wayne for nothing?”
“Believe me, it would not be for nothing. And Danny likes you, please do not worry about that. Come one, two hot ladies like us should not still be at home at 9 pm.”
“Okay, okay, let’s go.”
After a quick walk down the couple of blocks between their apartment and the bar, Bentley waltzed into the bar with a shout, “Whoo hoo! Who is ready to lose at darts?”
“You mean who is ready to kick your ass at darts? That would be me, Rogers.”
Bentley turned to where the voice was coming from and her face lit up when she saw Bryce standing beside her, holding her signature pilsner beer, which he teased her for drinking mercilessly and on many occasions.
“Hey Lahela, thanks for this, but don’t think you can just get me drunk and beat me at darts.”
“Oh, I don’t need you drunk to beat you at darts.”
Bentley took a swig of her beer and leveled her finger at him, “Them’s fightin’ words, Lahela. Let’s go.”
“Not even gonna say hi, Bentley?” Elijah asked from where he was sitting at a table next to Jackie and Danny. He was mostly joking, and he took a sip of his drink to hide his smile from Bentley, who was not likely to feel badly about not saying hi. Elijah knew how much she and Bryce liked each other. Anyone within 50 feet of Bentley’s bedroom when Bryce was over knew how much the two of them liked each other.
“No time. I’ve gotta put this scalpel jockey in his place,” Bentley took Bryce’s hand as he led her towards the dartboards, where a few other surgeons were standing and playing the game. A few of them whistled when Bentley walked over, and Bryce shot them all glares.
Bentley smiled and grabbed some darts, “Hello boys.”
They all raised their bottles to her and she grinned widely. Bryce noted their jealous glances, and he wrapped his arms around her waist and kissed her quickly on the lips.
“What was that for?” she asked, pressing her lips back to his. “Although I’m definitely not complaining.”
“I don’t like how those guys look at you. You know you’re my girl.”
Bentley drew away, “Bryce, what?”
He had never said anything that possessive of her before. She didn’t hate it, but they both had talked a couple of times about keeping it casual. It was safe to say she was a little bit taken aback by him staking a bold claim to her.
“Shit, Bentley, I don’t know why I said that. I didn’t mean it, if you’re not ready for something committed, I just want you. Any way I can have you. It doesn’t have to be a relationship. Just, you.”
“Okay,” her mind was still reeling, but she knew she was in no place to make this decision without knowing Rafael better, “I’m into you, Bryce. But, I’m into another guy too, and I just don’t know either of you well enough to commit. God, this is awful, I am so sorry, Bryce.”
“Hey, now, Bentley. I’m a competitive dude, so I’m up for it. I can and I will prove that I care about you a lot and that I am a man worth getting to know. And then you’ll pick me.”
Bentley smiled, “Cool. Thanks Bryce. Wanna spend some time during the day tomorrow getting to know each other better? I know you have the day off.”
Bryce’s face lit up in a grin, “I would like that a lot. But can tomorrow start now?”
Bentley pressed her lips to Bryce’s and wrapped her arms around him, “Of course it can start now. If I destroy you in darts does that make the whole getting to know you thing awkward?”
He laughed and shook his head, “Okay, let’s go. You’re on.”
After a few rounds of darts, and a few rounds of shots, Bentley was just loose enough to be locked in a heated make-out session with Bryce in a booth. They were kissing passionately when Bryce pushed her off of him, “Bentley. Will you come over to my place tonight?”
“And, do what?”
“Spend the night?”
“With or without clothes?”
“It’s up to you.”
She raised an eyebrow, “Can I go pick up an overnight bag?”
He grinned and kissed her, “Let’s go.”

favorite 5 people in town?
“Hailee and Tatum can be bothersome, but they’re always around so I guess that makes them alright. Aliza is a constant and really helpful, but her kid makes me nervous. The one who told me about the pudding balloon mastermind? I respect him for making me realize the situation wasn’t all that horrible. Last but definitely not the least of them all, my brother will always be my favorite.”

Sidenote: Why do I find boys names SO MUCH more difficult than girls names? I can find girls names I like for DAYS. Most boys names I’m somewhere in the “meh” to “ew, why” range.

“Nervous?” Sienna asked from where she, Jackie, and Aurora were lying on Bentley’s bed. The three of them had been that way since they had gotten home because Bentley was trying on outfits for her double date? date? with Bryce and Rafael. All four of the women had been up for hours, all having worked twelve hour shifts, and instead of going to Donahue’s with the guys, they had come back for a girls night in. Grey’s Anatomy, their favorite show to mock, was on, and they had made popcorn with M&M’s. Aurora was tossing popcorn in Jackie’s mouth. Sienna was painting her toenails.
Bentley had tried on over ten outfits, and had not found one yet that said “I want to have sex with you both, but not tonight” which she had told her roommates multiple times already. She’d tried dresses, outfits, skirt-shirt combos, short-shirt combos, and nothing worked the way she hoped it would. It didn’t help that she had no idea what to expect from how tonight would go. It could end so many different ways, a threesome, one of the men coming home with her, the other man coming home with her, neither of them coming home, two boyfriends, one boyfriend, or no boyfriends.
“What gave that away? The fact that I have tried on four dresses and six outfits, or the fact that I was pacing all day at work?” Bentley slumped onto the floor in front of her closet in defeat.
“Both,” Aurora said, throwing her hands up in the air as Jackie caught three pieces of popcorn. She smiled when Bentley shot daggers at her, then Bentley stood and turned back to the closet.
“Guys! My date is tomorrow and I have no freaking idea what to wear.”
“Bentley!” Sienna exclaimed, jumping off of the bed, the movement making Jackie fall on the floor. Jackie glared at Sienna, who winced, but then flashed a grin and moved over to Bentley’s closet. “Okay, so you want to look super hot, but also super sweet,” she thought about it for a couple of moments. “Found it.”
Sienna pulled a pair of gray thigh high boots from the top of her closet, grabbed a blush pink skirt with a metallic gold overlay and a white v-neck sweater, and handed them to Bentley.
Bentley looked down at her tiny roommate in shock, “How did you do that? It will be perfect!”
“Well, try it on!” Sienna shoved the clothes into Bentley’s arms when she didn’t just take them.
Bentley hesitated, glancing over at her roommates, “Uhh, aren’t you guys going to leave?”
“Bentley, we’ve all seen you in the locker room. Just do it, we’re not looking,” Aurora insisted. She gripped Jackie’s arm and helped her up off the floor. Bentley squinted at them, then stripped off her clothes to change her outfit.
“Look good?” she asked, turning to her friends.
They all nodded eagerly, their eyes on Bentley as she spun around the room. Sienna was right. Bentley loved that outfit and knew the boys would too. The boys. She loved the thought that they were both her boys. They were the two most incredible men, and for some reason they both wanted her. She couldn’t afford to try to figure out why. She just needed to figure out what she wanted. Even still, she had no idea. They were both incredible men, who she admired greatly. But, her conservative family and friends would not be thrilled about her being with two men. There was a tiny part of her that clung to the hope that they would come around and see it her way, but she knew that was unlikely. And for now, there was Bryce and Rafael. And right now, they were enough.
…
It was Friday night, and there was a knock at the door. Bentley smoothed her skirt, then crossed the living room to let whichever one of the boys was at the door into her apartment. When she opened it, she realized that they were both there, looking equally handsome, with equally beautiful but very different bouquets of flowers.
“Hey gorgeous,” Bryce smiled, leaning in and kissing her cheek, handing her his bouquet.
“You look stunning,” Rafael kissed her other cheek and passed her his bouquet.
Bentley blushed, once again overcome with how lucky she was to be at the center of these two beautiful men’s attention, “There are my handsome boys. Let me grab my jacket and I’ll be ready to go. Why don’t the two of you grab a seat?”
She gestured to where Sienna was sitting on the couch with Danny. Bryce and Rafael both waved, then crossed over to take a seat. Danny broke the ice with a question about work, and Sienna escaped to follow Bentley to her bedroom. When Sienna closed the door, she grabbed Bentley’s arms, “Okay, they are both so hot. Bentley, please tell me you’re going to choose both of them…”
Bentley sighed dreamily, then her expression shifted, “I want to choose both of them, but my family…”
After a beat, Sienna finished her thought, “Wouldn’t approve?”
Bentley shook her head, “Although, they could just rotate. My family is kind of racist, so all they would remember is that I wasn’t bringing home a white man and not even bother to remember any details about them…”
“Bentley…” Sienna said softly. “Is that true?”
“It’s a bit exaggerated. But they aren’t the most open-minded people in the world. They made me meet with our pastor after I told them I could see the merits of a single-payer health insurance system. Not even if I supported it or not, just that I thought it had some merits.”
Sienna laughed, then apologized, “Sorry. That shouldn’t be funny. It’s really funny though.”
Bentley smirked, “It is kind of funny, isn’t it?”
Sienna turned and grabbed Bentley’s light pink winter coat from her closet, “Have fun with those two. Don’t think about what your family would want. Think about what you want, and need. Because both of those boys bring out a goodness in you. Bryce makes you more confident, Rafael makes you more generous, and both of them make you more satisfied judging by the amount of noise coming from your room late at night…”
Bentley blushed deeply, “I’ve been trying to keep it down. But Sienna, they are just so hot and sweet… Besides, you can start paying me back by getting Danny into your bedroom…”
“Bentley! It is far too soon for any of that. Danny is a sweet boy, and I like the pace he and I are going!”
“Okay… But if you change your mind, remember, I deserve to be kept up all night for what I’ve been doing to you. And just imagine how much louder it will get if I bring both of them back home some time?”
Sienna jumped back, then asked, “You think they’d be up for a threesome?”
“Are you kidding? They both have talked about how hot the other is more than they’ve talked about how hot I am over the last few days… Not that I mind, but I think they’d be into it. They both suggested a polyamorous situation way too quickly.”
Sienna raised an eyebrow.
“What’s that about?”
“Bentley, they’re in love with you and don’t want to lose you. You dated them all through your intern year, and it’s almost halfway through this year… they’ve been so incredibly patient, but they both love you.”
“They love me? Why haven’t they said anything yet?”
“Because you haven’t mentioned anything serious commitment-wise with either of them. The second you do, they’ll say it. The only question is, do you love them?”
Bentley considered the two men sitting on her couch. It was hard to imagine her life without either of them. They did so much for her, and gave so much to her. Her life was full with them, and she couldn’t see herself wanting any other men. But did she love them? Truly love them?
“I don’t know Sienna. I’ve never been in love before, so I don’t know.”
Sienna took Bentley’s hand in hers, squeezing it gently, “It’s okay to not know. But know that they may not wait around much longer if you don’t make some form of commitment at the very least. You deserve everything you want, but if you don’t know, you may lose it. And I’d hate to see that happen. They’re the only men in the world incredible enough for you, Bentley. Although, if it didn’t work out, Dr. Ramsey would probably fill in without hesitation…”
Bentley grimaced, “Ew. He’s hot, but he’s my boss. And yes, I’d bang him, but I don’t want to commit to him. He’s not Bryce. And he’s not Rafael. They’re the only two…”
She trailed off, realizing that they were the only men in the world for her. She did want them. She did love them. Both of them. And now she had to tell them both. And figure out how exactly this was going to work to keep both of them. But at the very least, she’d made a decision.
…
Bryce and Rafael sat with Bentley in between them on their way to the restaurant. She felt so lucky, but also so awkward. She was holding hands with both of them, completely unsure of what she was supposed to be doing with herself. Bryce was on her left, Rafael on her right, and she had her hand in both of their laps, completely confused about what she should be doing. Hopefully the boys wouldn’t hold it against her and would just roll with the awkwardness.
Bryce could sense it, and so he let go of her hand and turned in his seat to face her and Rafael, “So this is awkward, right?”
Bentley sighed, Rafael dropped her hand with a laugh, “It kind of is. I’ve never gone to dinner with my girlfriend and her boyfriend before.”
She let loose a laugh, turning to kiss Rafael’s forehead, “I think this is new for all of us, don’t you?”
He chuckled, pressing a kiss to her lips, “I’ll say.”
She felt Bryce’s hand sneak up her thigh, and she turned to him, “Thanks for breaking the ice, Babe. It needed to happen.”
Bryce leaned in and kissed her mouth softly, and Bentley could physically feel him trying not to outdo Rafael and make him feel left out. He was one of the most considerate men she had ever known. It was part of why she loved him.
“So how do we do this?” Rafael asked.
“Right, we obviously don’t both go home with you, we can’t both hold your hand all night at dinner, we don’t really know how this is going to work,” Bryce concurred with Rafael.
Bentley sighed, completely unsure, “I don’t know how all of this is supposed to work. Or how it’s going to work. But I do know that I have really strong feelings for both of you, and I’m going to let those feelings guide me through the night. I know you’re both looking to me to figure this out, and I will. We will. The three of us, together. I want both of you to guide this too. It’s not just about me finding a relationship, or two, that works for me, it’s about the two of you finding a relationship that works for each of you, too.”
The guys made eye contact over her head, then both leaned in to give her a kiss on the cheek at the exact same time. Bentley had some ideas about what this relationship could be if it worked out. But it was in that moment that those fantasies became real. There were two men, who loved her dearly, who wanted to be with her. She was the luckiest woman in the entire world. With both of their lips on her cheeks, she finally let herself imagine just how incredible her life could be if she let go of what her family would think. The two men who loved her were willing to let her be in two relationships, and she shouldn’t squander that, should she? Not when she loved both men too.
Bentley was pulled from her thoughts as their car pulled up to the restaurant, a fun, casual Italian place with a dark corner table that she had reserved for her guys. They both helped her out of the car and led her to the table their hostess was guiding them to. As if they had rehearsed it, Bryce pulled the chair out for her, and Rafael took her hand to help her down into her seat.
“Welcome to Giacomo’s. Would you like to hear our specials tonight?”
Bryce flashed the hostess a million dollar grin and answered, while both Rafael and Bentley looked on fondly. They made a handsome threesome, and they knew it. Rafael and Bryce each took a hand of Bentley’s as the hostess rattled off the specials. When she finished, she made eye contact with Bentley and winked. Bentley blushed deeply, turning her head to the side. It was one thing to acknowledge how into these guys she was in her own home, but to do so in public in front of their hostess, it felt really good. She wasn’t sure if she was ready for it, but she was sure that she was happy. The response from others probably meant a bit too much to her, but she was a people pleaser at heart.
The two guys engaged in a conversation about the Nighthawks as she perused her menu. She pretended not to be listening, but she was hooked on every word they said to each other. They talked about stats, and normally she would join in on a rousing conversation with two hot men about baseball. But tonight she sat back and let the two men she loved got to know each other. Which was actually the whole purpose for the night, but the three words she wanted to utter to each man were pressing on her heart and distracting her from the evening’s intent.
They shared plates of pasta, each couple eating their noodles like Lady and the Tramp. Bentley’s heart was bursting with feelings of joy and love as she joined the conversation about the Nighthawks, which was something the three of them had in common other than the hospital. Eventually, inevitably, the conversation turned to the hospital. Bryce was telling a story about surgery, when he concluded Rafael added, “Man, I’m glad there are people out there who know how to do life-saving surgeries like that. I’d be dead if it weren’t for surgeons like you, Bryce.”
“Actually,” Bryce wore his characteristic smirk, that melted Bentley to her core, “You’d be dead if it weren’t for me. I performed your surgery with Dr. Emery. And Bentley, but I assume you knew that part.”
Rafael sat up a bit straighter, “You performed my surgery?” His voice carried an air of vulnerability that Bentley knew well, but that she didn’t expect to reach with the two of them that night. The two men made intense eye contact, with Bentley between them, as if she wasn’t even there at all.
Bryce nodded, and Rafael stood up. He crossed behind Bentley and pulled Bryce up into a hug. They stood behind her for a few seconds, arms wrapped around each other. Bentley was happy for the intimate moment they were sharing, but it was also a little awkward for her. She didn’t know what to do, so she turned to her plate of food and kept eating. The hug lasted longer than she would have thought, but she was glad to endure the awkwardness if it meant the two men she loved dearly were having a moment.
Eventually Rafael let Bryce go and they both sat down in their seats on her sides. Bentley tried not to notice the tears in both of their eyes, but when one slipped down Rafael’s cheek, she turned to him and wiped it away, cupping his cheek in her palm and leaning in for a kiss, “I’m so glad you’re still with us, Rafael.”
He kissed her back gently, “I’m glad I’m still here too, Baby.”
Bentley pulled away, “You’re a hero for saving that little girl, even if I was so scared I would lose you. And you,” she turned to Bryce and kissed him gently too, “You’re a hero for saving this man over here under extreme duress.”
They all pulled away from each other, a bit too melancholy for Bentley’s taste, so she added, “And I’m a hero because I helped too.”
The men she loved laughed heartily at her attempt to shift the mood. Mission accomplished.
The three of them smiled as they conversed over dessert, each man lifting their forks to Bentley’s mouth, taking turns feeding her and pressing their lips to hers to taste the cheesecake they were sharing, and not seeming jealous of one another, at all. Whoever taught these men to share did an excellent job.
The night ended with the three of them strolling down the sidewalk hand in hand. Overall, it had gone even better than she had hoped, but now was the truly awkward part: deciding how the night would end. She wanted to talk to each of them individually, but she had no idea how to go about it.
“Soooo, how does this night end? Because I get that tonight was about the three of us, but I think I speak for both of us when I say we want to make out with you right now,” Rafael said, gesturing between the three of them vaguely. “Like, I don’t think it would be in our best interests for each of us to make out with you while the other waits his turn.”
Bryce laughed, then said, “I agree with Superman.”
“I mean, I want to make out with both of you, too. But I have to talk to each of you, individually, about something really important. So, I’ll take one of you home tonight, and take the other home the next time we’re both free. I really want to be able to talk to you both as soon as possible. So I don’t know, do you want to flip a coin or something to decide who goes first?”
Rafael laughed, making eye contact with Bryce. Soon the two men were doubled over laughing and Bentley was standing beside them awkwardly. It was getting a bit ridiculous how many times the two men were completely comfortable with each other and Bentley was the odd one out, but that must have meant they were going to get along really well. Well enough to share a life, and everything that entailed, with her. After an insane amount of time, the two of them stopped laughing, and gazed at Bentley softly.
“Hey, I’ll see you tomorrow, Bentley. You and Superman have tonight. Maybe after work tomorrow, we’ll grab a drink and talk, okay?” Bryce asked, grabbing her hands and pulling her into his arms. Bentley leaned up and pressed a soft kiss to Bryce’s lips. The two of them kissed sweetly for a few moments, until Bryce pulled away. “I’ll see you tomorrow, baby.”
“See you, Bryce.”
“Bye Bryce,” Rafael said, shaking Bryce’s hand, then pulling him into a hug. The two men stood for a second in the hug, then pulled apart.
“Take good care of her, Superman,” he smiled and sauntered away, flashing them both a brilliant smirk and flipping his silky hair off to the side.
“Will do,” Rafael murmured as he pulled Bentley into his arms. “Where do you want to go for our talk?”
“My place is good for me, but if you need to go somewhere else that’s fine.”
“Well, will there be anything to look forward to at the end of this talk? If it’s going to be a good talk we’re going to need somewhere that I can show you how deeply my affections for you run…”
Bentley turned around and kissed Rafael, “Then let’s go to my house, change into some comfortable clothes, and snuggle up in my bed to chat.”
They rushed back to her place and did just that. Soon, they were cuddling under the covers, propped up against a mountain of pillows. Bentley looked over at him fondly as he asked, “So, that talk?”
She leaned into his strong figure and took his hand, “Yeah, that talk. First of all, I think tonight went really well. I like the three of us together, even if it was a bit awkward at times. Mostly just me. The two of you were amazing together. And so patient with me. I promise I’ll get less awkward, I just have a few personal things holding me back. I’ll talk to the two of you about them, but they’re unimportant as far as tonight’s conversation goes.”
“Most first dates are awkward. And this was our first date as a… throuple.”
She laughed super hard and kissed Rafael on the lips, “But I saw how great it could be. The three of us, making it work. You and Bryce were so good together, and so in sync. It rarely felt like I was giving one of you attention and the other was sitting behind jealously. You both were so cool about it. I think I want this. For real. Long term.”
“Really?” his grin was as wide as the skyline as he buried her in the tightest hug she’d ever been pulled into. “Was that it? Was that the talk you wanted to have?”
She shook her head, tilting her chin up, “No. I wanted to tell you that I’m in love with you, Rafael. I cannot imagine my life without you, and I don’t want to. You make me happier than I’ve ever been. You go out of your way to put a smile on my face, no matter how long your day has been, or if you’ve just undergone major surgery after recklessly saving a girl from a subway collapsing. It’s always your mission to make me happy, and I just hope that I return the feeling, even if it’s just in a small way. When I’m with you, time stands still and passes by faster than ever, and all I want is to spend eternity knowing that I am yours and you are mine. I love you, Rafael.”
Rafael smiled widely, pressing his lips to Bentley’s in a heated kiss. He kissed her hardly and passionately, making her toes curl as her body curled into his. For what seemed like minutes, and felt like hours, and passed like years, they stayed that way, before Rafael pulled away with a grin, “Say it again.”
Bentley smiled, pressing one peck to his lips, “I love you.”
“I love you too.”
Those four words from him flipped a switch, and Bentley’s lips were back on his like a magnet. She moved under the covers so she was straddling his lap, her whole figure pressing against his deliciously. He groaned and ran his hands over her back. Soon, his touches became heated and moved closer and closer to pulling off her clothing. Rafael pulled away gently, pressing further into his pillow, before asking, “May I make love to you tonight?”
Bentley let out a growl, “You’re in no position to be asking questions like that,” she nipped up and down his neck, slipping her hands underneath his shirt, “Instead, I’ll ask, Rafael, may I fuck you senseless tonight?”
Rafael let out a soft groan, pulling Bentley up so she was looking in his eyes. The emotion that radiated from his eyes wasn’t one Bentley was familiar with. No man had ever looked at her with that much desire in his eyes before. It must have been love. Bentley leaned back down and kissed him deeply, stopping only to slide his shirt up over his head. She kissed down his torso as she used her arms to fling their covers to the side.
“I’m going to need to hear an answer from you, otherwise we’re just going to stay like this Rafael…” Bentley turned her attention to his now healed surgery scars. She ran her lips over them with a feather-light touch, looking up and making eye contact with Rafael.
“Bentley, oh my god, yes, please, please, please…” Rafael moaned as she moved her hands underneath the waistband of his sweats and cupped him in her hands.
“Use your words, Rafael. Please what?” she pulled his pants off of his legs, along with his underwear, then leaned down and took him in her mouth.
“Oh my god Bentley…” he groaned, as she used one hand to assist her mouth, and the other to slip out of her sweats and underwear.
“Please what, Rafael?” she asked, pulling away to take off her baggy sleep shirt so that he could see her completely naked body. “What do you want, Superman?”
He moaned, the sound shattering her world, “For the love of god, just fuck me already Bentley…”
Bentley moved up so her center was hovering over him, then slowly lowered herself onto him. He surged up to meet her, and Bentley threw her head back in ecstasy as he filled her entirely. Rafael sat up and took one of her breasts in his mouth as she bounced up and down on him. Together, they reached their peaks and came crashing down, Rafael holding her to him tightly.
“Bentley,” he sighed, laying back down and pulling her down to rest on top of him, “That was so hot. I really liked that take-charge side of you. Like, really liked it.”
“Mmm, maybe if you had just answered me the first time I asked I wouldn’t have to have been so bossy…” at that Rafael rolled her so she was pinned underneath him, his lips on her neck.
“Don’t think for a second that if I didn’t like that I wouldn’t have stopped it. It was fucking hot. But I could have flipped the switch and had you writhing and moaning beneath me in a second,” to prove his point, he let his lips roam from her neck down her body to her core where he sucked greedily until Bentley was writhing and moaning beneath him.
…
“Okay,” Bentley sighed after Rafael made her come three more times, “you’ve proven your point…”
Rafael laughed, tugging her closer, “You good, Baby?”
Bentley looked up into his eyes, running her fingers through his thick locks, which were flopping over his face, “I’m so good. Tonight was one of the best nights of my life, Rafael…”
He leaned down and kissed her, “Yeah, Bryce is super cool. I get why it would be hard to choose someone over him. But also, I think I’m going to like figuring out a life with both of you in it.”
He kissed her greedily, then pulled away, “Plus he’s stupid hot… Part of me wonders what it’d be like to watch the two of you together… And to be with you at the same time as him…”
“Rafael… do you have a crush on my boyfriend?”
Rafael laughed heartily, “No, I just think your boyfriend is pretty awesome. And your other boyfriend. I think they’re both pretty awesome.”

The Cardinal Rules of Basketball . . . with Bryce Lahela
Word Count: 2172
Pairing: Bryce x MC (Bentley Rogers)
Rating: Mature
Warnings: Language, allusions to sexual content
Disclaimer: I do not own these characters, they belong to Pixelberry studios.
Author’s Note: Yo, does anyone else miss Bryce Lahela? Yeah same.We all know Bryce is a goddamn king, so it comes as no surprise that he loves Women’s Basketball like a real man should. Can guarantee no one was happier than our guy when the Stanford Cardinal got the W in March Madness. Tagging @mrskvall because of the photo of Bryce in the championship shirt!
Bentley Rogers sauntered over to Bryce with a flirtatious smile on her lips. She hadn’t seen him outside of work for a few weeks, and she missed him. As much as she wanted to say she missed Bryce the person, today she was mainly missing Bryce the sex god. She hadn’t enjoyed his “company” outside of work in a long time. And god, was she horny.
So she leaned against the nurses station, batting her eyelashes, “Hey there stud, got any plans for tonight?” she let her hand fall on his forearm, gently stroking it with her long nails.
He laughed, looking down at her trying her best to seduce him, “Ah, actually I do.”
“Well maybe you should take a raincheck . . . because I promise you, it’s guaranteed to be wet. Well, I am.”
“Hmm, you’re doing a good job flirting today, B, but there’s no way to raincheck this one.”
“How can you have plans you can’t raincheck? Do you really not want to spend time with me? I’ve been practicing my breathing in yoga lately, so I can give a blowjob way better than I used to. And if your reactions are anything to go by, I was pretty good before . . . .”
“Bentley Rogers, nice try, but I can’t raincheck it because it’s the most important basketball game of the year.”
“It’s April, basketball doesn’t get important until like June.”
“Bentley, as a strong woman yourself, I would think what you consider “basketball” would be a bit broader than the NBA.”
Bentley hadn’t watched a basketball game in ages, but she did recall the Stanford Cardinal had made the National Championship.
“Ah,” she said. “College basketball.”
“You can join if you want, but I have to warn you, I’m worse about watching basketball than I am at playing it. I’m not a nice guy.”
“Oh, would you say you’re a bit . . . aggressive?”
“Mmm, you don’t know the half of it,” he leaned down and nipped her lip quickly, so quick no one watching would notice. “But if you want, you and your friends can come watch it at my place.”
“No offense, but your place is super small. What about if you come to my place and we all watch it together, and then after we can have some victory sex?”
“Not an Arizona fan?”
“Not that, just a happy Bryce fan.”
“You’re a good woman, Bentley Rogers.”
“Well, Bryce Lahela, what food can I get for tonight? Anything you want, after all, Bloom doesn’t pay me the big bucks to get you cheap pizza.”
“Mmm, wings, nachos, those types of things. Even bad pizza.”
“Well consider yourself treated. It’s at five, right?”
He nodded, “You don’t have to do this, Bentley. That’s so nice of you.”
“If I’m honest, I’m doing this because I’m horny as fuck and I need you, really bad.”
“So I am just a piece of meat to you, Rogers, aren’t I?”
She laughed, then turned serious, squeezing his forearm, “Not even close.”
...
Later that night, Bentley had changed into a pair of leggings and a plain red sweatshirt. Every time she had tried to steal Bryce’s Stanford hoodie, he stole it back the next time they slept together. This was one of those times when he had taken it back. She smiled at the thought of getting it back eventually, and then eventually just living in the same place as both Bryce and the hoodie.
But they weren’t official. She had no idea why, he hadn’t brought it up in three years, so maybe he didn’t want it. Even after she almost died, he didn’t make a move to lock it down, but god did she want to. If she was honest, she was in love with him. She had been since the night she met Keiki and he opened up about his life. And maybe, just maybe, after his team won the national championship, it would be a good time to tell him.
She took a seat next to Bryce, who was watching the pregame festivities. Everyone else was in the kitchen, gabbing and eating.
“Nervous?” she asked, taking his hand in hers.
“Yeah. We haven’t won one since 92, and I wasn’t even a fan yet.”
“Were you even alive yet?”
“No.”
“Who is your favorite player?”
Bryce smiled over at her, rambling on about Anna Wilson and Kiana Williams. She listened to him happily. His face was lit up, and she thought it was really cute that he was so excited about this women’s basketball game. And about his team in general. She thought he was adorable all the time, but right now he was at his most adorable.
As he was talking, hands waving around animatedly, she leaned over and pressed a kiss to his cheek. He stopped abruptly, “What was that for?”
“You’re just so cute.”
He blushed and returned the kiss on her cheek.
“Well that was about the cutest thing I’ve ever seen,” Sienna said coming over and taking a seat by Bentley. Raf sat down next to Sienna, balancing a plate filled with food.
Bentley stood up, “Quack quack. Bryce you want anything?”
He nodded and she went over to fill up two plates, then dropped them off with Bryce before grabbing a couple of beers for them. She sat down, cheersed him, and then dug into the wings she had piled high on her plate. Bryce set his down and didn’t touch it for the entire first quarter. He just leaned forward with his head in his hands and didn’t pay attention to anything else. After the game was at the first quarter break, he leaned back and started eating finally. Bentley wrapped her arm around his shoulder and kissed his cheek.
“They got this, baby. Don’t worry.”
“Oh I’m worried. Very worried.”
“Well, I’ll let you be worried. But if you ever don’t want to hold your own hand and need mine, I’m here. I can’t fix it for you, but I can be right here beside you.”
“I appreciate it, but it’s going to get a lot worse before it gets better.”
“Okay, I’m here. You sat by my side when I was literally dying, I can sit beside you now.”
“You’re nice, but I’m going to be really mean if it stays close.”
“I can take it, Bryce. Also I don’t believe you’ll ever be mean to me, you lo-like me too much.”
“Hmm, I guess I probably won’t. But it’s not going to be pretty,” he leaned over and kissed her lip gently. She smiled and gave him a kiss on the forehead.
“Do whatever you need to do, Bry. I’m here with you, even if you get mad. Even if you get mad at me. Maybe not if you get mad at Elijah, but otherwise I’m here for you.”
“I could never be mad at Elijah, that kid is way too nice.”
Elijah wasn’t paying attention, he had his laptop out on his lap, going over some of his research. Everyone else looked over at him and he finally noticed what was happening and joined back in for a few minutes, at least until halftime.
Bryce was a bit calmer at halftime, taking a few more bites of his food, then putting his arm around Bentley as they watched the halftime show. She smiled softly, leaning into Bryce and letting him hold her. Even this she had missed. He was the guy she wanted to be with all the time. Just being next to him watching tv was preferable to going out and being hit on by other guys, who may be hot, but just weren’t Bryce. He was her best friend.
She looked up at him watching the analysts intently. He was hanging on Carolyn Peck’s every word and she let out a giggle, drawing his attention.
“What?”
“I like this side of you.”
“You do?”
“Yeah. It’s cute to see you nerding out over women’s sports. I think it’s the mark of a good man to care about women’s sports if you say you like men’s sports too.”
“It’s a lot of fun to watch. I went to more women’s sporting games at Stanford than men’s. What were we even good at? Maybe we pretended to be good at football, but I don’t think we really were.”
“Well it’s cute regardless of why.”
“You’re cute,” he said, giving her a gentle kiss. “I appreciate you watching this with me. I’ll get worse before I get better.”
He was right. With five seconds left, Bryce was at his worst. He was standing up and pacing between the couch and the windows. Bentley knew the ball was going to be in Aari McDonald’s hands, it was just going to come down to if she made the shot or not. And in the end, she didn’t.
Before Bentley could even process what had happened, Bryce had picked her up and swung her around. She was laughing, he was cheering, and everyone else was smiling. Bentley did like McDonald, but she liked Bryce more, so she was happy.
Bryce cheered and celebrated, then calmed down to watch all the interviews and post-game coverage, but everyone else who didn’t have work the next day started making plans to go out. Bentley glanced over at Bryce, who was engrossed in the television.
“I think we’ll maybe catch up later,” Bentley said, Bryce having no clue what was going on at all. He kept watching attentively after everyone left and she leaned her head against his shoulder. Eventually he realized she was there and settled back into the corner, tugging her closer so she was cuddled up with him. She slung her legs over his knees and let him pull her up so she was almost on his lap.
The tv moved on and started talking about other things, and Bryce’s attention turned solely to her, “Do you want to catch up with everyone else?”
She shook her head, “No. I just want to be with you.”
He grinned, then reached under her knees and picked her up. They headed over to her room and he deposited her onto the bed, then jumped in and wrapped his arms around her in a tight hug.
“Today all I wanted to do was sleep with you, but now all I want to do is talk to you. I’ve missed you loads Bryce.”
He smiled softly, tenderly running his hand over her hair, “I’ve missed you too. I don’t like only seeing you for a few minutes at work. I need you to be in my life more than that.”
“I need to be in your life more than that, too. I hate this.”
“So what do we do to fix it?”
She sighed, “We can pick days where I come over or where you come over, but that will get annoying really quickly.”
“Well, no one lives with me. I wouldn’t need any approval for you to just, move in with me?”
She grinned up at him, “You want me to move in with you?”
He nodded, “You wouldn’t have to pay rent until your lease is up here. My parents send me more money than I need for Keiki and I know it’s because they want to pay for me and get me back in their lives. So I use that to pay for rent, so you not doing it wouldn’t be an issue.”
“Bryce, are you really wanting me to move in with you?”
He nodded, “Yeah, I am. Bentley, you’ve been my life saver since I came here. I’ve never had a relationship like the one I have with you. You’re such a good friend to me, and I can tell you have some sort of affection for me. I haven’t had these feelings before, Bentley. I love you.”
“Bryce!” she exclaimed, tugging him closer to press her lips to his. They kissed passionately, letting each other get reacquainted with the other in this way. They hadn’t had a kiss like this anywhere but a supply closet for a really long time. And finally, she pulled away and said it back.
“I love you, too, Bryce Lahela.”
His grin was so wide as he met her lips again, “This is the best night of my life.”
“I think it’s going to get better,” she said with a smile. “Although I just want to be with you, that victory sex does sound pretty good.”
“Before we jump to that, think we should make you my girlfriend?”
“Why not? Let’s go for the big three!”
“Happy to. Bentley will you be my girlfriend?”
She nodded, “Yes! Oh Bryce, I love you so much.”
“I love you too.”
“Now let me show you just how much,” she said, reaching for the waistband of Bryce’s sweats. He met her eyes with a mischievous grin and let her move down to where she most wanted to be.

Something’s Missing
Word Count: 1342
Pairing: Bryce x MC (Bentley Rogers), maybe a tiny bit of Ethan x MC
Rating: Mature (ish) (not really)
Warnings: Language, allusions to sexual content
Disclaimer: I do not own these characters, they belong to Pixelberry studios. Some dialogue from Open Heart Chapter 4.
Author’s Note: Something’s been missing in these first few chapters of OPH, turns out it’s Bryce. I switched up the Open Heart chapter where MC and Ethan went to the art gallery - instead I had her go with someone she would have chosen on her own!

“You’re right Dr. Ramsey. I think I will go to Evelyn’s exhibit,” Bentley said, turning away from Ethan.
“Wait, I meant I would go too,” he caught up with her and grabbed her arm, tugging her to a stop. She yanked her arm away and glared over at him.
“That’s not necessary. I’ll go with Bryce. I haven’t seen him in a long time and I miss him. He’s a doctor too, and a fresh set of eyes, no offense to Evelyn, on this case might be a good thing.”
“She’s my patient!” Ethan exclaimed.
“Then you go on your own, and I’ll go with Bryce,” Bentley looked up at her mentor, knowing he was upset with her for more than just this. She had slept with him one time. Normally she wouldn’t regret it, but he seemed to have caught feelings from it. And even if she had, he left without so much as a goodbye. And the person who had been there for her to help her get over it was Bryce. Sometimes she didn’t know what Ethan wanted, and this was one of those times.
“Bentley,” he reached over to her and she side-stepped him.
“Dr. Ramsey, I’ve spent every free second reading journals. I haven’t seen my friends as much, and this is a chance where I can do my job and spend time with someone I care about at the same time. Please, let me have this.”
Dr. Ramsey moved away from her, “Okay. Call if you find anything.”
“Thank you,” she said, walking off and looking for Bryce. She found him leaning next to the assignment boards with a cocky grin on his face as he was talking to a couple of surgical interns.
Bentley walked up to him and leaned on the wall across from him, “Hey there Scalpel Jockey. You free tonight?”
Bryce’s grin changed from cocky to blissful when he saw her. He reached out and tugged her into a hug, “I am free tonight. Anywhere you want to go?”
“One of my patients is an artist. And I’m going to her art exhibit tonight to see if there’s anything that would indicate that her vision was changing. She’s got sudden blindness and all the tests are coming back negative.”
“I’d love to go with you. Pick me up at 7?”
…
Bentley had put on a cute dress and wedges and Bryce had put on his best sweater, and it felt like they were on a proper date. He held her hand as they strolled through the art exhibit. They looked at a few of Evelyn’s pieces and everything seemed normal. The two of them had moved together to look at them, but then something caught Bryce’s eye and he left.
“B, come look at this one.”
She followed after him and looked at the lighthouse painting in front of them. Something about it looked very familiar.
“We’ve seen this before haven’t we?” he asked, glancing at her with a puzzled look on his face.
“Yeah, but something is missing?” she looked at the lighthouse, then down in the corner. It looked like a scene she’d seen before somewhere. “Wait, shouldn’t there be pieces of an old shipwreck on the rocks over in that corner?”
“Yeah, didn’t we see it on our drive up to the country club last year?” Bryce asked, leaning in to get a closer look at the corner.
“Yes! I remember mentioning the wreck because we thought it was weird that a lighthouse wouldn’t have helped prevent that.”
“So… is it just a style choice then? Maybe we should check these other landscapes too. Look up the location of this farm one.”
Bentley pulled out her phone and looked it up, “Hey Bry, shouldn’t there be a stable in this corner? Look.”
She handed her phone over to him and he looked back and forth between the phone and painting, “It is in the same corner as the missing wreck. I’m going to tell you some more locations to compare.”
He kept looking at landscapes, telling her the locations. She would pull them up and they would check the corners. They typed up notes on her phone about each place and how off the details were in that corner, then arranged them chronologically.
“B… the areas missing details have grown larger this past year,” Bryce said, pointing out the notes on how big missing details were.
“Oh my god… it’s a scotoma. A blind spot,” she said, reaching up to cover her mouth in surprise and sadness. It meant her blindness wasn’t sudden, it had been happening over the course of the years. These portraits truly were the world through her eyes. They showed her degeneration into blindness. They were beautiful. And they broke Bentley’s heart.
Bryce could tell, and he reached over and wrapped her up in his arms, “Let me text Ethan for you and we’ll go home.”
Bentley nodded, handing him her phone. She was so grateful he was with her for this. She hadn’t seen him for a long time, and he was her comfort. With him, she was able to let her guard down. And she had been struggling. All she did was think about work and she never let out her emotions unless she was with Bryce. Or… Raf. But Raf wasn’t hers. Bryce wasn’t either, but he didn’t belong to anyone else.
He took her hand and tugged her closer, pressing a kiss to her forehead, “Let’s go home.”
“What’s home?”
“Your home, baby girl,” he said, smiling. “I don’t need to spend the night if you don’t want me to though. I know we haven’t been spending as much time together lately.”
“Bryce, no. I do want you to stay. I have missed you. This diagnostics position has been killing me. I’m working all the time, and I read journal articles all the time. It feels like that’s all I do. And sometimes I just want to go to bed in your arms but by the time I stop reading it’s so late and we always have to be at work so early… I just can’t slow down with work and I want to. I want to spend time with you.”
Bryce grinned, “I want to spend time with you, too. I didn’t know all of that, B. I wouldn’t have put pressure on you if I had known. I am so incredibly sorry.”
“You have nothing to be sorry about. I should have told you, Bry.”
They arrived at her apartment and he took her into his arms as they rode the elevator up to her floor. He was wrapped around her tightly, and she finally felt secure. It was like whenever he was around, a huge weight was taken off her shoulders. They maneuvered into her apartment and room, then he helped her change into something comfortable. He stripped down to his boxers and crawled into her bed. She laid down on his chest and wrapped her arms around him.
“Bryce, I missed you. I missed this. We’re good together, don’t you think?” she looked up and made eye contact, letting her fingers trail over his smooth muscles.
He sat up a little bit, and then leaned down to press a kiss to her lips, and then replied, “I think we’re great together. Really great together.”
She smiled and gave him a kiss back. He tugged on her body so she was laying on top of him. In response, she wrapped all of her limbs around his gorgeous body and pressed her mouth to his. His lips and tongue and teeth worked on her mouth and she let him. There was a heat growing inside her that wouldn’t go away. It was less of a desire to have sex with him, it was more of a desire to just ‘be’ with him. The kisses were slow and romantic, and she felt herself falling for him deeper and deeper with every kiss.

Part 7
Bentley and Bryce stumbled through the door to her apartment. They hadn’t taken their hands off each other the whole way back. When they pushed through the doorway completely, they ran right into Danny and Sienna, who were wrapped in each other’s arms.
Both couples jumped apart, glancing at the other pair, embarrassed at first. Well, except for Bryce, who was never embarrassed. Sienna’s shirt was pushed up and her midriff was bare. Danny’s belt was unbuckled, and his pants were unbuttoned. Bentley quickly became unembarrassed, and instead became excited for her friend.
“Oh hey, we were just coming here to change our clothes and go out to get drinks. You two, please carry on.”
“Danny, let’s just, go to my room,” Sienna said, not making eye contact with Bentley or Bryce.
“No, no,” Bentley said, taking Bryce’s arm, “you deserve to make out in the living room. God knows we’ve done it plenty of times.”
Bryce grinned and pressed an open-mouthed kiss to Bentley’s lips, “Yeah, you two have had to put up with us far too many times.”
Bentley’s mind flashed to Rafael and her doing the exact same thing recently as well. Dating two guys was weighing on her, and she hoped Sienna and Danny wouldn’t mention it. Not that Bryce would care.
Bryce took her hand and tugged her down the hall gently, “What’s going on in that pretty little head of yours?”
“Just still worrying about this whole ‘dating two guys’ thing. I don’t know what to do to make myself stop worrying about it. Like in that moment just now, all I could think about was the fact that the most recent guy Danny and Sienna have watched me make out with in the entryway wasn’t you. It seems like we talk about this every time we’re together, but I’m struggling with this, so hard. I love you, and I love him. And this is going to sound weird, but you’re also like my best friend, so I kind of want to talk to you about how much I love him? I want to share all of that with you, because I just want to share everything with you…”
Bryce took her hands and guided her to her bed, the pair jumping when they heard Sienna’s door slam closed. They broke out of their serious moment and laughed together softly for a couple of seconds. She leaned onto his chest and gazed up into his eyes.
“Bentley, you know I love you. I want to hear about everything in your life, and that includes Rafael. It’s not awkward for me, Bentley. I know this will sound cocky, but I am not threatened by Rafael, because I’m confident in what I have with you. All I’m worried about is the possibility of wanting to spend the night with you when you’re spending it with him. And I’m worried about you getting burnt out trying to date two people.”
“Why are you always worried about me when it comes to this? You’re so selfless. You’re far more than what I deserve.”
“Bentley, what’s it gonna take for you to believe that you deserve everything this world has to offer and more?” Bryce slipped an arm around her waist, gently pulling her in a little closer. “I want to give you everything I have.”
Bentley leaned her head up and pressed her lips to his softly. The kiss started tender and loving, but when Bryce laid down and tugged her on top of him, they started kissing with more and more intensity - on their way towards not making their plans to get drinks. Her hips started moving against his involuntarily, his rising to meet hers--
“Ohhhhhhhhh, Danny…” Sienna moaned from next door. Bentley pulled away from Bryce, her eyebrows jumping with his as they heard Sienna’s bed frame begin knocking against their wall. She stifled a giggle as she buried her head into Bryce’s neck before letting her laughter out. Bryce joined her laughing, quietly, before burying his face in her auburn curls and giggling too.
After a few moments of awkwardly listening to Sienna and Danny, Bentley turned to look at Bryce, “I should pack an overnight bag so we can go.”
Bryce reluctantly released her and she got up to change out of her scrubs and into a black dress and her favorite jean jacket. She could feel Bryce’s eyes on her as she grabbed a clean pair of scrubs and some undergarments to wear the next day.
“Bryce…” she called as she started towards the bathroom to grab her toiletries. “Will you pick out a nightgown for me to wear tonight? Top drawer. And if you want to push some stuff to the side, you can use it too.”
“A nightgown?” she could hear him scramble off her bed and throw open the drawer from down the hall. She could also hear Sienna and Danny and thanked the heavens that they were finally together. Sienna and Danny were her favorite couple on the planet. They were so cute together, and every day she could tell that they were becoming inseparable.
Bentley tossed her things into a small bag she could fit inside her overnight bag, then rounded the corner to her room at light speed, meeting Bryce’s wide grin as she entered.
“Hey! You look happy…” she said a bit hesitantly.
“This is my favorite drawer, Bentley. I tried to pick something that looked comfortable but I would love to revisit it at some point.”
“Oh no, what did you choose?”
“Just this pink satin one… do you think that’s okay?”
She laughed and took him in her arms, “Of course I do, I told you that you could pick what you wanted,” she reached around him to take the pink slip and fold it into her bag.
“I know you’ll look sexy in anything, but I’m assuming this will be for after we have sex and not before.”
“You’re right,” she said, kissing his cheek gently, then maneuvering around him. “I need to change my underwear quick.”
She opened a drawer, simultaneously pulling off her panties and tossing them in her hamper. Making a show of it, she pulled out a strappy garter belt and a matching thong, pulling them on and attaching them. She felt Bryce reach out for her, but she spun away and grabbed her bag, “Okay we’re good.”
“You absolute tease…” he groaned as he followed her.
They hurried across town, dropped off her bag, and found themselves huddled in a booth in the back of some bar down the block from Bryce’s apartment. Her legs were draped over his lap as she nursed a moscow mule Bryce had insisted she try. He had ordered his usual, which had been nagging at Bentley a little bit.
“So… ‘the usual’? Do you come here a lot? I’ve never been here with you before…”
“Yeah, I used to,” he cleared his throat, looking away from her for a minute, “I used to bring girls here for drinks back when I first moved to Boston.”
“And, did you take them home with you too?”
He coughed again, “Sometimes.”
“I see,” she fiddled with her straw, but didn’t move out of his lap. It didn’t bother her when she thought about how she was also seeing Rafael the whole past year, but if she hadn’t been, she would have been upset. More of what was bugging her was the fact that she’d never really gone out on a date with Bryce, she had just gone about her life and slept with him whenever they had time.
“What’s wrong, B?” he asked, taking her drink out of her hand and holding it in his.
“Nothing - you should have dated whoever you wanted. I guess I just feel bad that you and I never really dated, we just kind of were around. It was never anything really intentional. And now I’m on a date with you and I’m complaining that we never went on a date.”
Bryce laughed, “Bentley, I intentionally spent every spare moment with you. But I thought you had something with Dr. Ramsey, so I tried to date other girls so I would stop myself from falling too fast for you. That’s why we didn’t date. Because we didn’t need to. I was just always around because even then, I knew I was hopelessly in love with you Bentley Rogers.”
Bentley kissed him softly, “You’re so damn soft for me, Bryce Lahela.”
He threw his head back in laughter before turning back to kiss her back, “What have you done to me, Rogers?”
She rested her forehead against his, gazing into his eyes, “This was my evil plan all along… get your defenses down… make you fall in love with me… spend the night at your place… and rob you blind. It’s foolproof really.”
Bryce kissed her forehead softly, then whispered, “It’s all yours… take it all.”
They sipped their drinks a while longer, talking about their patients in common, some they didn’t have in common. Bentley protested when Bryce tried to convince her she should be a surgeon, that way she wouldn’t have to babysit her intern Esme. Bentley argued back that she was on the best diagnostics team in the country and babysitting an intern was worth the opportunity she had to work with Dr. Ramsey and Baz and June.
“But Bentley, you could work with Dr. Harper Emery, the premier neurosurgeon in the country! I don’t understand why that isn’t enough of a draw to get you to switch.”
“I work with the premier diagnostician in the country, Bryce!” she exclaimed, setting her drink down and throwing her arms around his neck. “The quality of professionals I work with matches, if not bests, the ones you work with!”
“Well, the best resident at Edenbrook is a surgeon. You would get to work with him.”
“The best resident at Edenbrook is a junior diagnostician and you know it.”
Bryce’s grin was radiant, and Bentley knew why. He had tried so hard to get her to believe in herself, and now she did. It was all because of him and how much effort he put into building her up to be this confident. She could always count on him to make her more confident.
“You’re damn right she is…” Bryce wrapped his arms around her back and tugged her up so she was straddling him in the booth. Their mouths met in a heated kiss, and when he was sure she was anchored to him, Bryce moved his hands to her thighs, running them over her with that expert touch of his. She groaned and he took the opportunity to meet her tongue with his. His hands crept up her thighs until his thumbs rested lightly on her hot core. In response to his touch she felt a gush of wetness between her legs and she pulled away.
“We gotta get out of here. Now,” she commanded, grabbing a twenty out of her wallet and slapping it onto the table. With equal intensity, she grabbed Bryce’s arm and pulled him out of the booth and back to his apartment.
They barely made it inside the door when Bryce tugged off her jacket and threw it into a corner somewhere. With an unexpected reverence in the heat of the moment, he pulled off her dress as she tried kicking off her shoes.
“How are you so goddamn beautiful?” Bryce asked, sinking to his knees in front of her as she backed into his door.
“Just trying to keep up wi--” she cut herself off with a moan as she felt Bryce’s lips connect with her wet slit through her crotchless panties. He hiked her leg up and over his shoulder, giving himself better access as he worked his tongue skillfully against her. Their eyes met in the dark of his entryway and if she could think about anything other than his lips and teeth on her she would have wondered how he always managed to get her completely naked before he lost a single item of clothing. Her breathing became labored as Bryce tugged at her lower lips, teasing her and getting her as wet as possible, his saliva and her own wetness mixing together, before he latched his mouth to her clit and sucked. The door vibrated behind her as she slapped her hand against it when Bryce would not relent. She arched her back, thrusting her hips towards his face, barely staying up with one very wobbly leg planted on the ground. Bryce knew she was getting close, so he reached up with one hand to grip hers as he moved his other to hold her steady. Her free hand snaked into his hair, gripping it firmly as he coaxed an orgasm from her. She groaned loudly as Bryce kissed her lips over and over again until she was sufficiently down from her high. In an instant, she was in his arms and he moved her to his couch.
He leaned over her, smattering kisses on her face as her breathing returned to normal. With expert ability, she latched her leg around his and flipped him underneath her.
“Now it’s your turn to sit back and let me do my job…”
“Bentley, please, I just want to be inside you…” he groaned as she palmed him through his jeans. In one deft move, she had unbuckled his belt, tugged it off, and pushed his jeans and boxers down. She rose to pull off his shoes and his clothes, moving up and sliding off his sweater and the shirt he wore underneath it in one fluid motion.
Before Bryce had a chance to react, she had slung her legs over him and was grinding her still wet pussy against his very hard dick. His eyes rolled back and he groaned at the feeling of her sliding over him. With a tap on the chest, she drew his attention back to her and she rose slightly, taking him in one hand. He didn’t look away when she guided him to her entrance, the warmth of her so close he could almost feel it. She lowered herself slightly, encasing just the head inside her. He let out a raw, guttural moan and she lowered herself all the way.
When he tried to sit up, she pushed him back gently, “Just watch. And enjoy.”
With a wink, she tossed her head back, her auburn hair flying out behind her. The white column of her neck was exposed, and Bryce licked his lips, hoping he would be able to lean up and place soft bites all over it, marking her as his, but he was under strict orders to lie there. She bounced up and down on his dick, moving side to side on occasion, her breasts moving with her and drawing Bryce’s eyes down. Once he broke out of his trance gazing at her as she rode him, he reached down and pressed two fingers to her clit. He knew her so well, and he knew she would struggle to finish from penetration alone, no matter how good a job he did, and he wasn’t doing much of anything right now. It was the least he could do as she gave him the ride of a lifetime.
Within seconds, they both approached their climaxes, and Bentley tugged him up so she could place her lips on his as they came together. She held him close and kissed him desperately until he shoved her away to look into her eyes, “I love you, Bentley.”
“I love you too, Bryce,” she whispered, kissing him, then letting him lean in and rest his head on her breasts. After a few moments, he started placing soft kisses on her bare chest, then began roaming up to where he was kissing her neck. The kisses turned to gentle bites, and Bentley started getting wet again. “Take me to your bed, Bryce. Take me now.”
He lifted her up and she wrapped her legs around his waist as they moved to his bed. With great care, he set her down, then pressed his body against hers.
It was a long time before they finally fell asleep, but with her head on his chest and their thirsts quenched, Bentley and Bryce slept like rocks their first night being fully in love.

Bentley stood in front of her locker, fiddling with the bottom of her scrubs. She smiled softly as she thought about her night with Rafael. It could not have gone any more perfectly.
…
Rafael let out a groan and pressed himself closer to Bentley. She sighed and pressed her lips to his bare chest, grateful for how safe and warm she felt.
“This is the perfect morning, Bentley,” he whispered, tugging her closer. “I don’t want you to go to work yet.”
Bentley groaned, “I don’t want to go to work. Or leave this bed. I want to spend all day with you in this bed.”
He smiled, tilting her chin up and kissing her gently, “But you get to see Bryce when you go to work. And then tell him you love him.”
She grinned softly, “Oh yeah, I do. That is something to look forward to, and I am very excited to tell him. Is it weird that I’m talking to you about this? I’m so sorry, I promise it doesn’t make me love you less. I love you so much Rafael. So, so much.”
He laughed, “I know you do, Baby. Somehow, I know that what you have with Bryce doesn’t have anything to do with me. It still is kind of hard for me to grasp, but yesterday it clicked a little bit. I know you love me. You know you love me. I know you love him. He doesn’t know that yet, but he needs to. I love you so much and I can see this going well. You’re incredible, he’s incredible, and I can say this honestly, I am too. We’re great people who make each other better. I know that this is going to work. Yes I’ll miss you tonight, but I know you’re mine. I know I have you for, well, for the rest of the future that I can envision. And that’s perfect for me.”
Bentley smiled, “God, I love you more and more every moment.”
“I love you too,” he kissed her lips gently, then pulled away, “Okay, let’s get out of here.”
…
“Hey, beautiful. How are you doing?” Bentley felt a pair of arms wrapped around her. She turned and laughed, pressing her lips to Bryce’s in a passionate kiss. He gripped her waist tightly, slipping his hands under her scrub top. As his hands roamed, their kiss grew more passionate, and he started pushing her into the lockers behind her.
“Okay, you two, get a room,” Bryce and Bentley separated, making eye contact with Rafael across the room. They all three laughed, Bryce reaching out to shake Rafael’s hand, then both of them leaning in to kiss her on each cheek.
“You guys spoil me…”
Bryce leaned down and took her lips with his, “You deserve everything we have to offer and more.”
“I just wanted to come see you once before you left. You two have a good night,” Rafael winked at Bryce, then waited as Bentley turned and kissed him.
“Miss you already,” she kissed him gently, letting him lean into her and take her in closer. Bentley was acutely aware of Bryce behind her, and her body tensed in reaction. She knew Rafael could sense she was uncomfortable, so he pulled away, meeting her gaze. With a shake of her head, she mouthed that she loved him and gave him a quick goodbye peck.
He mouthed it back, then gave her arm a gentle squeeze. Rafael turned away from her and shook Bryce’s hand once more before leaving the locker room.
Bryce turned to her, clearly having seen her tensing with Rafael, and took her in his arms, “What was that all about, B?”
With a sigh, she gripped Bryce’s biceps and looked down. He gazed at her softly while she took a deep breath and gathered her thoughts.
“I just don’t know how to do this. If I’m with him, I feel like I’m neglecting you, and if I’m with you, I feel like I’m neglecting him. I want you both so badly, but I have no idea what I’m doing.”
Bryce took her chin between his thumb and index finger and tilted it so she looked him in his eyes, “Did you know how to be a doctor your first day of med school?”
She laughed, “No.”
“Are you better at it now than you were on your first day?”
“Well, I sure hope so,” she smiled as he gazed at her with sincerity that made her head spin.
“What kept you going when you had doubts?”
“Well, I remembered that it was what I wanted to do. I wanted to help others and achieve what I had dreamed of my whole life.”
“Okay, do you want me?”
“Yes.”
“Do you want Raf?”
“Yes.”
“So we’ll work at it. Things will be hard. Things will go south. Things will be sticky, and messy, and rough. But you’re worth it to me, I want you. That’s why I’m here. That’s why when it’s a little awkward watching another man kiss the girl I love, I remind myself of you, and how much I want you. And it becomes less awkward. And I can deal with it.”
“Bryce… did you just…” Bentley took his face in both of her hands and pulled his lips down to meet hers in a soft, hesitant kiss. He returned it with a tender touch, cradling her chin in his hand, and taking her bottom lip in his teeth. It was gentle, and passionate, and full of love, and she was happy, fully and completely happy.
“I love you, Bentley,” he pulled away, leaning his forehead against hers and gazing into her eyes.
“I love you, too Bryce Lahela,” she responded with a relieved laugh. He grabbed her in his arms and wrapped her into a tight hug, nearly crushing her. As he lifted her off the ground and spun her around gently, both of them laughing giddily. She looked down at him as he looked up at her, both of them so happy. Before she could get too happy, she knew she had to ask Bryce about the night before.
“Hey, Bryce. Last night, why’d you let Rafael go home with me first?”
He looked up at her and stopped spinning, “Because I didn’t want you to have to choose. I knew you’d be too stressed to decide, so I just made it easier for you.”
Bentley sighed softly, shaking her head, “You are an incredible man. I can’t believe you would do something so selfless. You’re the perfect man, you know that right? I love you Bryce.”
He kissed her softly, “Don’t give me so many compliments, you know I’ll just get a big head.”
“But you deserve it. You deserve everything. I want to give you everything.”
“Do I have your love?” he asked, pulling her in closer.
“Of course.”
“Then I have everything.”
He leaned down and pressed his mouth to hers, “Wanna go out for drinks tonight, baby?”
“Yes. But can it not be Donahue’s? I don’t want to be tempted to spend time with other people. I just want to spend time with you, please.”
He smiled, “Of course.”
“Can we go to my place so I can change? I want to put on something cute for you.”
“Yes. Grab a bag and we’ll go to my place to drop it off, then go to my neighborhood bar. And then go back? I know we don’t have too long a turnaround between shifts tonight, but I want to spend as much time with you as I can.”
“The feeling is mutual. I love you, so much Bryce. I’ve loved you for so long, I just couldn’t resolve that with my other feelings. But it’s been there for a while. I feel so strongly about you. So strongly.”
“If I’m being honest Bentley, I loved you when we went go-kart racing after the triage day,” he started as he took her hand and they walked out of the hospital to her apartment. “I was exhausted, mentally and physically, but I was also exhilarated from getting to be part of all those surgeries, and the only person I wanted to share it with was you. I know that was a big day for you and Rafael too, but I think it was big for us too. Maybe even more so now that you know how I felt about you.”
“I was so spacy that day, I’m sorry. From my perspective, I wasn’t able to be there for you at all that day. But I guess my feelings for you overrode how I felt about the day. I thought so highly of you. I already did, but especially then. You worked so hard, you just kept going from surgery to surgery, taking care of others before yourself. And with your scrub cap and sleeves rolled over your biceps, you looked,” she pulled him to a stop and pressed her lips to his cheek, “so” she whispered, mouth moving down his jaw, “damn,” she teased her tongue under his mandible, then nibbled on it a little, “sexy.”
He groaned, taking her hips in his hands as she continued her onslaught on his neck. They continued pushing back out of the path they’d been walking on and took their time, running their hands over each other. Bryce wrapped his hands around her, tugging at her scrubs and letting his hands slip up to rub his hands on the soft skin of her stomach.
His hands were rough from years of hard work when he was in high school and college. He had disclosed some of the jobs he had taken when he was younger while they were lying on the grass under a tree eating brunch one day. She could feel him securely delivering drinks as a bartender when he gripped her hips. When his hands ran over her back to tug her closer, she felt the callouses from years as a mechanic. He pressed her close with a wide palm on the small of her back, and she imagined him using those hands mending clothes when he couldn’t afford to buy himself new ones. When he slipped his hands up and under her bra, she felt the precision that made him the most sought after senior resident surgeon at Edenbrook.
They were pressed against a building on the way to her apartment, which was really close to Edenbrook, and had been “on their way” for about fifteen minutes. It was a seven minute walk, on a snowy day when the sidewalks were icy.
But neither of them cared. They were so in love. She was happy with him. And by the feeling of him pressed against her the way he was.
She continued her onslaught on his neck, surely rubbing his tender skin there raw. He was groaning, and she could feel his response to her work against her belly.
“I’m not going to make it to a bar, Bentley. I need to have you now.”
“My house is a four minute walk. Do you want to spend the night? I’m sure we can grab you some extra scrubs at work tomorrow. Or we can just run a load of laundry. I have some stuff I could wash too.”
“Okay, sounds good,” neither of them made a move to leave.
“I also have some room in my top drawer. Would you like to throw some clothes in there next time we plan you coming over?”
“A drawer?” he looked down at her with surprise.
“Part of a drawer,” she corrected.
“What if Rafael and I get our stuff mixed up?”
“I’m going to offer him a different drawer.”
“You’ve got this all figured out, don’t you?”
She nodded, “I just want to make you guys comfortable at my house. It’s also got me thinking about maybe us having our own space. Which, like, why am I thinking about this? I’m not doing well handling us just figuring this out, how could I handle living with you? Would we live in a one-bedroom? More than one? I don’t know, Bryce, I just know I love you both so much.”
“We’ll figure it out, Bentley, I promise,” he kissed her softly and pulled away to look at her, “I don’t deserve this with you. I’m so lucky to have found love. I didn’t have it my whole life and now I have more than I could have asked for.”
Bentley looked up at him and ran her fingers through the soft hair at the base of his neck, “You deserve all the love in the world, Bryce. And I want to give what I have to you.”
“Then take me back to your apartment and give it to me then.”

“Bryce, oh god, Bryce, Bryce, Bryce,” Bentley groaned in time with Bryce’s thrusts inside of her. They had done this many times before, but this time somehow more heat. The feelings inside her were growing, and she assumed it was because of the mix of sex and her newfound romantic feelings.
After they both finished, and he stilled, with his forehead pressing against hers, she sighed, “I guess that answers the “doing what” question.”
She kissed down his chest until she was resting her head over his heart. It was thundering beneath her ear and she tilted her head and smiled at him softly. She pressed tender kisses on his nipple, and felt him sigh softly. If she was being honest, she could lie on this chest for the rest of her life and never need another man. And every time she thought about ending up with Bryce, she thought of Rafael too.
“What are you thinking about, Pretty Girl?” Bryce asked. She knew that her last thought had been about Rafael, but before, it had been about how much she wanted to be with Bryce.
“About how I could lie on this chest for the rest of my life,” she said honestly.
“Am I just a piece of meat to you, Rogers?” he glanced down at her with so much warmth in his eyes that she forgot any other men existed.
Bentley laughed and snuggled into his chest, “You’re so much more Bryce Lahela.”
She tilted her head up to look at him, and noticed a wistful smile on his face, “Thank you, Bentley. You are a very kind woman.”
Bentley looked up at him, concerned he didn’t have a wide smile on his face, “Bryce, are you okay?”
“I just want you to choose me. I feel a real connection with you, Bentley,” he looked away, suddenly not super confident.
“Bryce, I really like you,” she knew she couldn’t lie to him though. It would do both of them a disservice. She felt like sometimes she didn’t know anything about him at all. Maybe, if she was honest about it, and they got to know each other better, maybe it would help her make her decision, “I feel a little bit like I don’t know you.”
Bryce sighed and glanced down at her. He took a few moments, where she was worried about what will come out next. She thought he would either close up or spill everything right then and there, “Okay, that’s fair. I haven’t told you a lot of things about myself. How about we get brunch tomorrow morning and you can ask me anything. Only catch, you have to answer the same questions from me.”
“Deal,” she leaned up and kissed him on the lips, knowing that this was the best thing she could have hoped for. Not that she should have been surprised. Bryce was pretty intuitive. “I’m really excited to get to know you better Bryce. I like what I know of you so far.”
Bryce laughed and kissed her passionately. They made out for a few moments, hands and lips wandering. After a few moments, he stopped kissing her, pulled away, and then said soothingly, “Good night, Bentley. I’ll see you in the morning.”
…
When Bentley woke up the next morning, she felt a heavy hand on her hips. She reached down and took Bryce’s hand and rolled into him. He was still breathing heavily, like he was asleep. He was so cute, the way he breathed softly and sweetly. Her fingers were wrapped around his, and she was happy and comfortable with him. In the morning light, he looked so handsome. While he was asleep, Bentley ran her hands over his chest and marveled at how toned he was.
“You checking me out, Rogers?” she was a little startled by him, his eyes were still closed and he seemed to be asleep. But he wasn’t, and it was kind of cute how comfortable he was in her bed.
“Hell yeah I am, Lahela,” and since he knew she was, she let her eyes roam down his form to where her sheet was draped over his hips.
He grinned, opening his eyes, “God knows I could wake up to this every day.”
“I could too,” she said, smiling to him. It was so beautiful to have someone who liked her as much as she liked him, if not more. The feeling of warmth inside of her was one that she always wanted to feel, “I like you, very much, Lahela, I am enjoying this very much.”
“The sex? Or our dating relationship?”
“I really like both of those things?” she said with honesty. They were both great.
“Me too, Bentley. Wanna go take a shower? And then we can go get brunch.”
Bentley nodded and then got up and pulled Bryce with her. Tangled together, they stumbled into the shower, kissing and running their hands over each other. They made it out of the shower a bit later than they had originally hoped, but they were both much more satisfied.
Once they both got out and dried off, Bentley got dressed in a pair of jean shorts and a flowy white top. She noticed Bryce making eye contact with her as he pulled on a short-sleeved polo and khakis. With a smile, he ran his eyes over her body, and said, “You are a very beautiful woman, Bentley Rogers.”
“And you, Bryce Lahela, are a very attractive man. Inside and out,” she waltzed over to him and wrapped her arms around his waist. He took her in his arms and kissed her forehead.
“Let’s go.”
They made their way to a café off of Dorchester Bay and grabbed some bagels and coffee. After grabbing their food, they went to sit on a blanket Bryce had brought from home. For a while, they sat and talked about their work. They had a couple of patients in common, and they always vibed well together as co-workers. It was nice to be with someone she had so much in common with. But she needed to know him on a deeper level, and she wanted him to know her on a deeper level too.
“Lahela, can you answer a serious question?”
He gulped, then smiled at her, “Of course.”
“Bryce, what about your past defines you the most?” she knew it could be a rough question, but she honestly didn’t even know what to expect about his past. All she knew was that he had secrets that were hard for him to talk about, and she suspected that he never really talked to anyone about them. She didn’t want to take this moment lightly, but she wanted to get into it.
“Shit, Bentley, the honest answer to this is really deep. You sure you want to dive in that deep?”
“Yes,” Bentley answered with no hesitation, reaching over to take his hand and lean into his side. She pressed her forehead to his and kissed him gently before he began.
“Okay,” he breathed in deeply, grasped his hair in his hands, and leaned into her shoulder more, “Shit, Bentley, okay. So, uh, when I was younger, I was put into foster care, uh, I never got adopted by anyone, and uh, it made me really insecure, and made me really doubt that anyone in the world would take care of me,” he stopped for a minute, having burned through the previous sentences without taking a breath. He took a shaky breath and squeezed her hand, then started again, a little more calm this time, “So I made sure that I took care of me. I became this guy who would make everything a joke so people couldn’t hurt me. And I worked really hard to become a surgeon so I would have income and I could then provide for my kids because my parents didn’t want me--” he trailed off.
“Whoa, Bryce, hey. If this is too much, you don’t have to get into it. You’ve already proven you are interested in taking things seriously, and I don’t want to make you tell me anything you aren’t ready to.”
“No, Bentley, I’m ready. I can tell you this. It’s something I want to talk to you about. I just, my parents didn’t try very hard, and they just gave me up when I was very young. I just didn’t get a childhood. And not every foster home was the nicest. It forced me to develop a thick skin.”
He gulped, and she took the chance to say something, “But you’re good and kind, Bryce. You may not let other people into the very depths of who you are, but you care about other people. I’m so impressed by you, Bryce. Your past may have shaped you, but you didn’t let it harden you.”
“Bentley,” he sighed, leaning over to press his lips to hers in a kiss, “thank you.”
“Bryce, I am so glad to be with you.”
He kissed her again, this time, letting his mouth claim hers passionately. They kissed for a few more moments, and then pulled away from her mouth to gaze into her eyes. They exchanged a look for a few moments, just gazing in each other’s eyes, “I like you so much, Bentley.”
She returned the kiss, and after a few minutes of passionate kissing, she pulled away. Although they had gotten to know each other a little bit better, she still wanted to know more about him, “Do you want to talk more, Bryce?”
“Yes. I do. I’ve already started talking, so I can do more. What do you want to know?”
“I just, I don’t know, Bryce. I have things I want to know, but I feel like I don’t know how to ask.”
“Then I can just tell you about myself. I grew up in Hawaii. I went to Stanford. My only serious relationship was with my high school girlfriend, who I dated until my sophomore year of college, but then broke up with because she was getting too close to me and was almost going to find out about my childhood. None of my family members even know me. I haven’t spoken to anyone since the hearing when I was taken from my parents. They told me that they were going to hurt me, and I believed them and I don’t know why they took me from them. I won’t read the court case. I am scared to know what they did. I don’t know if it was to me, or around me, or to someone else, but I am so afraid, Bentley.”
Bentley sat up and wrapped her arms around him tightly, “Oh, Bryce.”
He sighed and leaned his head onto her shoulder, “Bentley, thank you.”
She could only imagine what he was thanking her for, but she knew that she couldn’t stand being away from him. He was so kind, and sensitive, and sweet, and she got to see that now that they were being honest with each other. They were growing together, and it made her so happy. But she looked down at the man in her arms. He looked like he was trying so hard to keep it together, and she knew that she wanted to be the person who held him together.
She kissed his head and cradled it in her hands as he leaned into her. When he started to cry, that was when she knew, she couldn’t live without Bryce. And she also couldn’t imagine life without Rafael. It was so shitty for her to be holding Bryce in her arms as he was crying about his childhood and be thinking about Rafael too. He deserved so much better. So much.
“Hey Bentley,” Bryce started, not crying now.
“What, Bryce?”
“Is it Dr. Ramsey?”
“What? Bryce, no. God no,” she pulled away from him and shook her head.
“Well, that’s good. Because, I’m willing to share you if you don’t want to decide. But not that guy. He’s terrible.”
“Bryce, we absolutely do not need to have this conversation today.”
“Just know I can’t lose you.”
“I feel the same way. But Rafael…” she wished she hadn’t said it. She wanted to go back, but Bryce heard her. He definitely heard her.
“Whoa, the paramedic?” Bryce’s face lit up into a grin.
“You know him?” she didn’t remember him ever meeting Rafael.
“Yeah, he’s really hot. And he’s nice. You should definitely not just choose me without getting to know him better.”
“Bryce, I’m confused,” she looked over at him. He was encouraging her to date someone else, the day after he had said he would win her heart.
“What? He’s hot. You’re hot. I’m hot. See what he thinks. You think about it. I’m not talking about the three of us being together, just about us both being serious with you.”
“Oh, okay. Well, Lahela, I am with you right now, so let’s focus on the two of us, okay?”
He pressed his lips to hers and he kissed her softly, “You are so kind to me, Bentley. I really like you.”
Bentley kissed him back, “I really like you, too Bryce.”
“So,” Bryce kissed her, “you wanna move on to the next part of the day?”
“Yes, please.”
“Great. How do you feel about bike riding?”
Bentley grinned as Bryce took her hand and helped her up. They folded the blanket and took off to rent some bikes. All afternoon, the two of them rode around on their bikes, taking in the sights of Boston. They stopped on occasion to take in a scene from a bench, to exchange some kisses, to talk about Bentley’s childhood. She had grown up in Indiana, near Chicago, and her parents had taken her to Cubs games all her life, she had two older sisters, they grew up playing softball, and all had gone to med school and become diagnosticians. Well, except for Bentley. She wasn’t one yet. Bryce had cracked a joke about both of her sisters being named after cars too. Their names were Mercedes and Lexus. Bryce had laughed.
As it neared four, Bentley started to check her watch and drop hints about leaving.
“Got a hot date or something?”
Bentley sighed, then answered, “Yes, with Rafael.”
Bryce’s eyes lit up, “Oh so you could talk to him about all of this?” he gestured between the two of them and some third, invisible object she could only assume was supposed to represent Rafael.
She smacked Bryce’s chest softly, “I can, but I probably won’t. I haven’t even slept with him yet.”
Bryce flinched, “You haven’t?”
“No. Is that a bad thing?” she was surprised. If anything, it would mean she was more serious with Bryce than with Rafael.
Bryce looked down at the ground and rubbed the back of his neck, “Not for him, but it is for me.”
“What does that even mean, Bryce?”
He sighed, “It means you take him more seriously than me. And are going to be interested in dating him only.”
“Hey,” she said and took his face in her hands, surprised that he assumed it was the opposite problem of what he had said, “you are incredible, Bryce. The reason things are slower with Rafael have a lot to do with your different personalities and the fact that I see you like ninety times a day and I only see him a couple of times a week.”
“And he’s still in the running with me.”
“Bryce… how I feel about Rafael has nothing to do with how I feel about you. It doesn’t take away from the things I feel for you.”
He looked into her eyes and asked, “What things do you feel for me?”
“Well, I don’t have time to get into all of them, but I can assure you, they are overwhelmingly positive.”
They put their bikes back in a rental rack and he walked her to her door. He pulled her into his arms and pressed a kiss to her mouth. They pulled each other closer and grabbed each other’s arms and kissed each other harder.
“Bryce, I gotta go.”
“Mmm… don’t.”
“Well, when you put it like that…” she pressed a kiss to his lips, “I gotta go.”
He kissed her softly, “Have fun on your date. I mean it. If he makes you happy, I want you happy. But I cannot deny, I know I make you happy.”
“You do make me happy Bryce Lahela. You do make me happy,” she wrapped her arms around his neck and gave him one final intense kiss.
“Talk at work?”
“Talk at work,” she responded and took his hand. “See ya, Bryce.”
He squeezed her hand, then sauntered away. She paused for a moment, thinking maybe she could have everything she wanted. Bryce and Rafael. But she couldn’t help but think that it was too good to be true. Rafael probably wasn’t going to go for it.

Bentley rushed up to her room and cleaned off from her date with Bryce. She had enjoyed herself thoroughly, and she could not wait to see Bryce at work the next morning. More than ever before, she was confident in the emotional connection they shared, not just physical.
As she changed into a pink floral dress with a brown cardigan and a pair of brown sandals, she realized that while she was sure of her emotional connection with Rafael, she was unsure of her physical connection with him. She hoped tonight would be the night when she was confident of both relationships with both men. There was the small issue of Rafael being willing to share her with Bryce. And the small issue of if that was what she actually wanted.
She was touching up her curls when the buzzer to the apartment sounded. It sounded like Sienna answered it. Her heart started fluttering, as she assumed it was Rafael.
“Bentley, you have a visitor!” she heard Sienna call. A grin spread across her face as she grabbed her purse off of the counter and checked herself in the mirror. She figured Rafael would have no trouble getting this dress off at the end of the night.
She rushed out of the bathroom as Rafael entered. He was wearing the green bomber jacket that made her melt because it was just so sexy. When he saw her, his eyes lit up and his grin went from ear to ear. Bentley grinned back, and after a moment of prolonged eye contact, she bounded across the living room and threw her arms around him.
“Hey, Rafael!”
He laughed and grabbed her waist, lifting her up. His smile was wide when he greeted her, “Hey there Dr. Rogers. You look stunning.”
“Thank you, so much, Rafael. You look handsome as ever,” she let her eyes roam over his face and torso, then moved her hands to run her fingers through his hair. Once she was satisfied, she placed a hand on his chest, “Seriously, Rafael. You are one of the most attractive men I have ever seen in my life. Feel that?”
“Feel what?” he asked, adjusting his arms around her so he could look up into her eyes. When their eyes met she forgot about everything else for a moment, getting lost in the milky chocolate of his beautiful, beautiful eyes.
“My heart, pounding in my chest. You do that. You are making my heart race like that,” she looked down into his melty eyes and pressed a kiss to his lips. He was still holding her up, and she was not at all worried about him letting her go. He was Superman after all. More than that, he was her Superman.
Rafael kissed her back gently and then he set her down, “I’m going to make your heart pound a lot more later.”
“Rafael… are you implying what I think you are?” she smiled up at him cheekily, placing a hand on her hip and popping it. She didn’t miss his eyes roaming down her body to where her hemline was raised a little bit.
“If you think I’m implying that I am going to very respectfully and politely ask you if you would at all be interested in sleeping with me at the end of the night, then yes,” he smirked, taking a step closer to her and resting his hand on her hip, just below her hand.
Bentley leaned up and kissed him, “I think that I would be very interested in you asking me that question.”
“Good, now let’s go.”
She took his hand, letting him out before her to lock the door, and followed him down to the train, “Where are we going?”
“So,” he started, guiding her through the door to the train and taking her hand as they took a seat, “I volunteer at an assisted living facility two nights a week. And one night a week is dancing night. And that’s tonight.”
“You’re taking me to dance with cute old people?” she asked looking up at him with a wide smile on her face. She gripped his arm that was attached to the hand in hers and pressed a kiss to his cheek.
“Yes?” he answered shyly, averting his eyes for a second. It was adorable and endearing, and she found herself feeling the same levels of comfort and excitement she felt with Bryce. This was a man she could stand beside for the rest of her life.
“Rafael Aveiro, you are an incredible man,” she pecked him on the cheek and when he turned to look in her eyes, she noticed his shy demeanor was still there.
“Bentley…” he started, almost groaning her name, but then he stopped. Bentley wanted him to engage with her in this moment. The way he said her name was unlike any way she had heard him say her name before. It was laced with desire, and it shot a warm fuzzy feeling straight to her core.
“Rafael… what do you want to say right now?” she leaned in and pressed a gentle kiss to his throat.
He swallowed, and then, making sure to make eye contact with Bentley, he said, “I don’t really know how to say this, but I’m going to try. So, I like spending time with you. You are brilliant and you care so much about people. And you’re beautiful. Bentley, you are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. You’re everything I’ve been looking for. And I have seen you with that surgeon, and I know he really likes you, and it looks like you like him back, but Bentley. I want you. I want to be serious with you. And I don’t really care if you’re also serious with him. As long as you’re serious with me too.”
To say Bentley was shocked that Rafael had brought this up without prompting would be the understatement of the century, “What is happening?”
“What?” Rafael was confused, which was fair.
“Bryce and I just had this exact same conversation.”
Rafael did a double take, “You did? So, he’s okay with me seeing you?”
“Yeah, he knows we’re on a date right now. And he has assured me that you are very hot. With which I agree.”
“So, we can date, and you and Bryce can date, and we’ll all be fine?” Rafael smiled hopefully.
“Well, I don’t know if I want to date two guys,” Bentley said honestly. She knew both Bryce and Rafael would take her concerns seriously. Which, if she was honest, was why she was in this situation in the first place. If one of them could just be a terrible guy like every other man she had dated, the decision would make itself. But, fortunately, she was falling for two of the best men she had ever known, “I’ve never done it seriously before. I can’t lie, I haven’t even done it not seriously, I just think you both are incredible which is why I am even entertaining it at all. You’re both two of the best men I’ve ever met, and you, Rafael. You have the biggest heart. You are kind, and you care about everyone in the entire world, and you go out of your way to make me smile and be happy. I don’t know how you can be so selfless, and it inspires me. You make me want to be a better person, and be better at my job, and better at everything. Rafael, you are so incredible.”
He leaned over and kissed her softly, “Thank you, Bentley. I think you’re incredible, too.”
They exchanged soft words of affirmation and kisses for a few moments. Meanwhile, the train made a few stops, and then Rafael took her hand and led her out of the station. They rushed over to the assisted living center, where Rafael was evidently well known and well loved. All of the women in the center looked at her jealously as Rafael spun Bentley across the floor.
She smiled, absolutely giddy as she twirled around with him. They were in sync, and just like earlier in the day with Bryce, she knew that letting go of Rafael would be awful. If she were to just choose Bryce, she wouldn’t be able to forget him. Maybe she should take them up on the sharing offer. But she knew she’d just end up hurting one of them, maybe even herself. Or maybe not. Maybe she would successfully share her love with two men and have healthy relationships with each one of them. She had no idea how that would work, but it could.
After a few songs, she felt a tap on her arm, and a short, male resident was standing behind her. She grinned as he asked her for a dance. Rafael pecked her cheek and went off to dance with one of the sweet old ladies. Bentley took the hand of the gentleman who had requested a dance and danced across the floor with him.
“What’s your name, dear?” the gravelly voice of the man she was dancing with shook her from her thoughts about Bryce and Rafael.
“Bentley,” she answered sweetly and sincerely. “And what about you handsome?”
“George,” the man said kindly. “Who is that boy you were dancing with earlier?”
Bentley laughed, “His name is Rafael, and he’s a paramedic. A very good paramedic, I might add. And a very kind and sweet man to boot.”
“And what’s going on between the two of you?”
She grinned, and then said, “I really like him. There’s another boy, though. But I think the world of Rafael.”
“Well, I was with the same person for fifty years, and I’m telling you, you’ve got what it takes to make it fifty years. The best way to tell the chemistry between two individuals is to dance with them. And my dear, the connection you have with that boy is so electric it could put hair back on my head.”
Bentley let loose a deep, melodic laugh, garnering a glance from Rafael. They made quick eye contact over the head of the blue-haired lady he was dancing with and he flashed her a wink. Bentley turned her attention away from Rafael, looking down at George, “You really think so?”
He nodded, and Bentley followed his gaze over to where Rafael was dancing, now with his back to her, “I know so.”
Rafael spun around and once again met her gaze, and his face lit up with a grin. They both were smiling like idiots, the room fading away, and the other people in the room disappearing. She continued dancing with George, who definitely noticed that her attention was on the tall, strapping young man across the room.
“Thank you for dancing with me Ms. Bentley, but you need to go get that boy. I can see how you feel about him in your eyes. And that other boy, I don’t know him, but I doubt you could look at him anymore intimately than how you look at Rafael. Go to him.”
Bentley leaned down and kissed George on the cheek, “Thank you. Your spouse is a lucky person.”
“Oh I never got married.”
“Well, the world missed out.”
“Bentley, sometime I’ll tell you the story of my love life,” George said, patting her arm gently. If Bentley had known her grandfather, she hoped he would have been like George. “But today, right now, go get him. Take him out to dinner. And then take him home. And do dirty, dirty things to him.”
“George!” Bentley pretended to protest, even though the reality was that she wanted to tear Rafael’s clothes off with her teeth and do dirty, dirty things to him. She flashed George a wink to reveal her true intentions.
“Go!” he shooed her away, winking back.
“Okay, okay, I’m going,” she smiled one last time at George, who gave her the widest toothless grin she had ever received.
Bentley hurried off across the room to where Rafael was standing. He let go of the woman he was dancing with, exchanged a few words with her, then turned to Bentley. In a second, he had taken her into his arms and pressed his lips to hers. They kissed passionately for a couple of minutes, drawing the attention of a few of the people in the center. They started hooting and hollering as the two young lovebirds continued to kiss. But Bentley and Rafael didn’t mind. They didn’t mind one bit. And frankly, neither did all of the sweet men and women in the center.
The two of them spent half an hour more dancing around the room with each other. Bentley couldn’t believe how quickly the time had gone, and was very excited when Rafael offered to take her with him the next time neither of them had to work.
When Rafael took her hand and led her out of the center, she couldn’t have been happier. She followed him, gripping his hand tightly as they moved toward a restaurant he said was the best in all of Boston. Bentley knew he was definitely right, and it was going to be some awesome restaurant with food cooked authentically by some incredibly sweet woman he had befriended. Because he was the kindest, most personable man in the entire world, and he could charm the skin off a snake. She looked over at him with pride the whole walk over. He was a good man, and boy was she grateful he was as into her as she was into him.
As they arrived at a small cafe, they were greeted by a sweet elderly lady, “Rafael! My sweet boy, you are too thin! Why don’t you come visit me anymore? Let me fill you up! Girls like a little something to hold onto. Right, beautiful girl? You need to make this little boy come around and eat my food.”
“Oh, I would love to. I think Rafael and I both would enjoy some more food cooked by a beautiful woman such as yourself,” Bentley tossed the woman a wink, gripping Rafael’s hand and rising up on her tiptoes to press a gentle kiss to his nose.
The woman laughed, a beautiful full laugh, and took Bentley’s hands, “Follow me. I’m going to make you something special. Have a seat,” she guided Bentley and Rafael to a table in the front of the restaurant, next to a big window with a view of the Boston skyline. Bentley’s breath was taken away, simultaneously by the beautiful view and the pace with which the woman had swept through her restaurant with the two of them. The kind woman took their drink orders, after Rafael had pulled out Bentley’s chair and brushed her auburn hair back to kiss her at the juncture of her neck and shoulders.
Once the woman walked into the kitchen, Bentley asked, “So what type of food do they serve here?”
Rafael laughed and took her hand, rubbing his thumbs over her wrist and gazing into her eyes, “I can’t lie, I don’t know. I think it’s some sort of Asian food, but it might also be African food.”
“Oh. Well. I look forward to it, I think?” she joked with a sweet laugh.
“It’s really good, I promise. I used to come here a lot when I was in Community College. My school is actually in this area.”
“So you’re giving me the grand tour tonight, right?”
“What?” he was taken aback, and visibly sat up straighter. His hand was still holding hers, but he paused the motion of his thumbs on her wrist.
“You’re going to show me where you went to school tonight, aren’t you?”
“Uhh, do you want to?” he asked, very unsure.
“Are you kidding? Yes! I want to know about everything you’ve experienced, where you’ve gone, the things that are important to you. Rafael, I want to know everything that you want to tell me and everything that you want to show me!”
“Everything? Even if I’m a serial killer?” he raised a single eyebrow.
“Rafael Aveiro, you are not a serial killer.”
“How do you know?”
“Have you met yourself, Rafael? You ran into a burning building to save someone! And under a collapsing underground train system. You’re incredibly kind and considerate. The other day, I was having a rough go of it and you gave me a massage and you knew you weren’t even going to get a happy ending. Whenever I see you, you’re helping someone. You volunteer to dance with elderly people and bring them so much joy. You love your family so much, and I just, when I’m with you I know I’m going to be safe and cared for. Not brutally murdered.”
“Oh,” he stated simply.
“Is something wrong?” normally when she told a guy she knew he wasn’t going to brutally murder her she got a bit better of a reaction than a simple ‘oh.’
“You feel safe with me?” he asked, letting go of her hand. For some reason that word was what had made him uncomfortable. Bentley hadn’t meant for it to make him feel badly.
“Is that bad?”
“No, it’s just… that surgeon doesn’t make you feel safe. He makes you feel dangerous and sexy”
“Whoa, whoa whoa, it is not that you do not make me feel sexy. I feel very sexy with you. That massage was so hot. Your hands? They made me feel things that sex has never made me feel. And when you dance with me, Rafael. Your hips, my god. I cannot wait for tonight. You,” she leaned across the table and pressed her lips to his jaw, barely able to reach, but close enough to prove her point, “make me feel sexy and dangerous.”
Rafael gulped as she kissed him gently, again and again, “Okay, okay, I believe you now, you are so beautiful, I believe you,” Bentley was noticing that when she effectively improved his confidence in their relationship, he would affirm her too. It was so sweet and endearing, his need to make her feel beautiful and desired.
Bentley sat back down in her chair, “Good. Now don’t doubt me again. Because I think I might be super into you and I want to be with you, Rafael.”
She gulped as she looked up at him, her eyes wide at her admission. Not wide out of surprise, fully blown at the thought of being with this man. He was everything to her. Just then, the elderly woman brought out a dish of food, and Rafael grinned over at her, unable to suppress the smile she had just brought to his face.
The rest of their dinner passed without her professing her love for him, which was pretty good for her at this rate. She told him about her family, he made the same car joke when she told him their names were Mercedes and Lexus. He told her about his large, incredibly kind and supportive family. Bentley wanted to be part of that family one day. Inevitably, she couldn’t help but compare Bryce and Rafael, even their different family circumstances. Neither one had an advantage in her mind, because both men were influenced differently by their families, and she was so drawn to each man for such different reasons. The idea of not picking one but picking both was very appealing to Bentley.
After they finished their dinner, a delicious rice and bean based meal with chicken and delicious spice, two of which Bentley was able to identify as turmeric and tarragon, Rafael paid. After saying goodbye to the sweet woman, who Bentley still didn’t know the name of, Rafael gave Bentley a kiss and took her hand as he led her down the sidewalk. Without prompting, he started telling her stories about his time in community college.
“So I didn’t really spend that much time here. Just for classes, because I spent a lot of time with my family. I just like to spend time with them more than anything. They’ve always been there for me and they are so important to me. But one day my little sister and I came down to campus. The plan was for both of us to study, but instead, we ran into an outdoor yoga class, jumped in the back, and joined. By the time they realized we weren’t supposed to be in the class, my sister had already perfected every move and it was impossible to tell that she wasn’t part of the class. Me on the other hand, let’s just say I’m not the most graceful. She teaches yoga classes now. I’m so proud of her.”
“Rafael, you are the sweetest man in the entire world. This confirms everything I said about you earlier. You are absolutely incredible. I am going to have so much fun making sweet, sweet love to you tonight.”
He gulped and looked over at her, “I cannot wait for that to happen. When, exactly, is that going to happen?”
“As much as I would love to continue this tour, I think it can wait a minute. Should we go now?”
He nodded eagerly, then followed her to the train as she practically jogged off.
The whole ride, they couldn’t keep their hands off of each other. Rafael would trace his hand along her waist, Bentley would trail her fingers over his arm. They would steal glances, and not-so-indiscreet touches. Fortunately there were no other people on the train with them.
The train jostled as it pulled to a stop, and Bentley found herself falling into Rafael’s lap.
“Hey there,” he whispered softly, running his fingers through her auburn locks.
Bentley giggled and wrapped her arms around him tightly, “Hi.” He pressed a kiss to her cheek and she leaned down, “Are we there yet?”
Rafael laughed, “Where exactly are we going?”
“Oh… we can go to my place?”
“You don’t mind if your roommates see?”
“That I’m bringing home the hot paramedic who literally rushes into burning buildings to save pregnant women? No, I don’t mind if my roommates see that.”
Rafael stood up and pulled Bentley along with him. She rested in his arms as he looked down at her, “When do we get off?”
“Well, probably once we get home and in my bed. Unless you prefer to do it standing or in the shower or in a chair…”
Rafael threw his head back and laughed, “Okay, as much as I care about that getting off, when do we get off of this train is what I was thinking more…”
“Oh, like two more stops,” she shrugged like it was no big deal. Inside, her heart was pounding. She was so excited and so ready.
With a kiss, he laughed and gazed down at her, “You are such a flirt. And I absolutely love it.”
Bentley giggled and held onto him as the train pulled into her stop, then practically drug him up to her apartment. As soon as the door was closed behind her, she turned around and pressed her lips to Rafael’s. She didn’t even notice that Sienna and Danny were sitting talking on the couch. Both of their heads snapped up when Rafael and Bentley crashed through the door. But Bentley and Bryce did not notice. Their lips were locked, their hands were running all over each other, their bodies pressed close to each other. Bentley pulled him down the hallway, never breaking away from him as she fumbled with her door and opened it.
Once they crossed the threshold of her door, a flip switched. The sweet, soft Rafael was gone. Sexy, in command Rafael had arrived. Rafael slammed the door closed, then tore off her cardigan. His hands ran over her hips, bunching up her dress as she reached down to take off her shoes. He pushed her down onto the bed, his brown eyes gleaming as he gazed down at her.
“You are breathtaking, Bentley Rogers.”
“Maybe you should come over here and take my breath away and we’ll call it even.”
Rafael tugged his bomber jacket off, then peeled his shirt off slowly. Bentley’s eyes ran over his chiseled form.
“Okay, mission accomplished, my breath is taken away,” Bentley started sitting up.
“No, stay lying down. I’m not finished with you just yet.”
“Oh, okay,” Bentley had never in her life been more turned on. If sex with Rafael was going to be this hot, she didn’t know if she’d ever be willing to stop. She also didn’t know if she’d be able to keep from waking her roommates up once she and Rafael got to the finish line.
Bentley leaned back as Rafael pulled off his pants and boxers. Her eyes were full on roaming now as she took him in. She had not been turned on like this in a long time. Rafael was confident. Exceedingly so. Before she could even think, he was running his fingertips up her leg. As he creeped his hands up under her dress, she started gasping.
“I haven’t even touched you yet, Dr. Rogers,” Rafael massaged her legs. After a few moments of rubbing her things, he moved his hands up higher under her dress. When he found that she had no panties on, he groaned.
“You’ve been a very naughty girl, Dr. Rogers. Running around Boston with no panties? Dancing with other men? Dancing in front of grandmothers? Those women have grandchildren, Dr. Rogers. Naughty, naughty.”
“I guess you’ll have to punish me now, Mr. Aveiro,” she smiled at him cheekily, biting her lip and fluttering her eyelashes at him. He gazed down at her and shook his head as his façade broke. As he ran his fingers over her center, he fell forward and laughed into her neck. Bentley tangled her fingers in Rafael’s hair as he continued to work his fingers. She moaned lightly while he pressed his face into her neck and placed soft kisses on her collarbone. With his free hand, he pushed the straps of her dress down, suckling on the soft skin there.
“Oh my god, Rafael,” she panted as he brought her closer to the brink. She let out a loud moan as he pushed her over the edge. “Oh Rafael…”
Rafael looked down at her and kissed her gently on the lips. Bentley rolled him over and straddled his hips. When she lowered herself onto him, he groaned, the sound shaking the room.
Bentley moaned equally loudly as Rafael gyrated his hips. Her head fell back and she lost herself in the feeling of Rafael beneath her.

“Bentley,” Rafael sighed as she snuggled into his side. “You are absolutely incredible. That was… incredible.”
“Mmm, how incredible?” she reached around him and held onto him tightly. He smiled down at her and pressed a kiss to her forehead.
“Bentley Rogers… I don’t know if words exist to describe just how beautiful I find you, and how kind you are, and how inspirational your love for your job is, and how smart I can tell you are, and how caring you are for your patients… I can’t describe how you make me feel. How my heart speeds up just thinking about your smile, or how my mood brightens when I hear you say my name, or how my burdens feel lighter when I share them with you. I’m falling for you, Bentley Rogers.”
“Raf…”
“Bentley, I cannot lose you.”
“Rafael… why do you think you will?”
“Bryce,” he whispered softly.
Bentley sensed he knew all of the things that Sienna had talked about. About how she spent almost all of her time with Bryce. And how they were so in sync. She didn’t want to lose either of them. But she didn’t want for either of them to feel like they were second in her heart if she took them up on their offer to be with both of them.
“If I chose both of you, would you still feel that way?”
“Yes,” he whispered as she placed her hand on his cheek.
“Why, Rafael?”
“Have you looked at the dude?”
“I’ve looked at him, but I’ve looked at you too, and you are no slouch.”
Rafael laughed, then turned serious and said, “I guess I’m just nervous that I’ll be second to him for the rest of my life.”
“Who says you’re second to him now?”
“What?” Rafael asked incredulously. It had never occurred to him that he was not behind Bryce in this race for Bentley’s heart.
“You’re not in second place. Neither of you are. If one of you were in second place, I would have chosen one of you. But I cannot choose one of you. Because both of you fill me to the brim. Without both of you, I don’t know who I am. The whole trial at the hospital, I wouldn’t have survived without you, Rafael. You were there for me when I needed someone, you were there when I was lonely and sad, you were there when I wanted to get out of my own head, you never said no to any adventure I wanted to go on, and you always made the simplest of things, like going to a dancing class at a senior center, a very exciting adventure. You’re the kindest man I’ve ever known. You give so much, and I want to be that person for you. I want you to feel like you aren’t absolutely required to give to me all the time. I want you to know I’m going to give to you too. If I’m with both you and Bryce, or just you.”
“I want you to be happy, Bentley. If you want to keep dating Bryce, and me, that’s okay with me. I know that at times I’ll worry about you with him, but I will believe you are committed to me. I am willing to enter into a relationship with you and at the same time you enter into a relationship with Bryce. I think I want to talk to him and get to know him a bit, but it won’t change anything if I don’t. It’s kind of hard to wrap my mind around. Because I want you so badly. But, if you have the love to give to two men, then who am I to stifle that?”
Bentley choked out a sob as she leaned against his chest, “You would do that for me?”
“I would. In a heartbeat.”
Bentley kissed him gently on the mouth and said, “Rafael, I do not deserve you.”
He leaned down and kissed her back.
“And we can definitely have you and Bryce get to know each other. At some point I’m going to want to share all of my life with the person or people I’m with, and if it’s both of you, then you’ll have to know each other.”
“Hey he’s super hot, I don’t think I’d be opposed to living in the same space with that guy.”
“Interesting, he said something very similar about your hotness as well.”
“So Bryce thinks I’m hot?”
“He sure does.”
“Good to know. Think you can talk to him tomorrow about the three of us spending time together?”
Bentley leaned up and kissed Rafael, “I think I could do that.”
“Good,” Rafael kissed her back, “Now, I think I need to take advantage of the current one-on-one time we have right now.”
He rolled over on top of her, pressing his body to hers, as they continued what they had started earlier in the night.
…
The next day, Bentley arrived at work early, heading to the locker room. She opened her locker, then felt a pair of hands around her waist. With a spin, she saw Bryce behind her, sans shirt.
“Hey there, hot stuff,” he said, leaning down to press a kiss to her lips. “How was your date with Superman?”
Bentley kissed him back, then said, “Get right to the point, why don’t you?”
“What did he think about both of us dating you?”
“He actually brought it up himself.”
Bryce’s eyebrows shot up, “Really? So we’re going to do this thing?”
Bentley grabbed his arms, “Calm down. I haven’t decided if I can do this or not.”
“What’s got you hung up, Babe?”
She leaned into his touch, then said, “I never thought I’d be the girl who dated two men seriously. My parents, the rest of my family, my weird friends from college, none of them will support me.”
Bryce kissed her forehead, “I’m sorry Bentley. Your cool doctor friends, and your work family, and your work parents, Ines and Zaid, will all support you. We care so much about you. And most importantly, you have the support of both Rafael and me.”
Tears started forming in her eyes as she leaned in and kissed him, “Hey when are you off work next? I want to get dinner with the two of you.”
“Both of us?”
Bentley nodded, “The two of you are important to me, and I want to see you interact together. I know you and Rafael won’t date each other, but you’re going to have to be around each other, because I’m probably going to want to get move in with both of you at some point if we decide to do this thing, so you’ll have to see each other. I want for the three of us to spend time together, and Rafael wants to get to know you too.”
“Okay,” Bryce said, “I have Friday off.”
“Me too! Let me ask Rafael?”
“Ask me what?” Rafael entered the locker room, two coffees in his hand. He held one out to Bentley and kissed her cheek. She leaned in and gave him a kiss as she took the coffee.
“If you’re free on Friday to get dinner with me and Bryce?”
“Should be. I can’t wait to get to know you better man,” Rafael reached out and shook Bryce’s hand.
“Same here, Superman.”
Rafael let out a laugh, “You and Bentley are the only two people who call me that.”
“Let’s keep it that way,” Bentley quipped, leaning into Rafael and kissing him, then taking Bryce’s hand and kissing him too. All three of them smiled at each other. Maybe this thing would work after all.
