Hellooo there I was wondering if you have any Thoughts on Jaques Kensington and/or the Brutesington ship? (If I've asked this before feel free to ignore this LMAO))

OHHH honestly i have not formed any proper thoughts about the other leaders apart from the tragedy polycule BFKJDSFS but i feel like jaques and reynaldo would be a fucking power couple. stoic as hell but if they're in the same room together you will very unsafe (threatening couple aura)

Sometimes I do worry that people might be squicked by our Brutesington, but then I remember that it doesn't necessarily matter and that this fictional comfort ship is fictional. So!

A big thing with Reynaldo and Jaques is that they are reliant on each other. These two were EXPLOSIVE in their early years, before their relationship was even fully fledged- Dusty had considered shipping Reynaldo to a different country's division so they would never see each other again. Jaques and Reynaldo nearly killed each other day one. Then Dusty realized "oh. they're fighting each other instead of other people. Jaques hasn't attacked someone in over a week because he's been too busy cutting holes in all of Reynaldo's socks. I can work with this." Cue these two being assigned as partners Constantly. They're both PISSED about it but what are they gonna do? Go bully the poor elderly leader for a reassignment? They have too much pride to admit defeat so now they're stuck together

Oh my god, I will never GET OVER these two. I absolutely can't, these two would be perfect for each other! I already imagine Reynaldo to be someone who is an unmovable force, but so is Jaques with his magic an eccentric abilities! So they would definitely butt heads in the beginning but slowly grow to like each other more to the point that when they're sharing some secrets by the fireplace, Jaques makes the first move on Reynaldo and BOOM! Things go from there!

Also I do HC Jaques to have some sort of dragon form, but he would probably be more hesitant on using it (cause bad shit happened before), but when he starts opening up more to Reynaldo and the other Toppats, then the dragon comes out to play to protect the Toppats they dearly love.

Dragon Jaques Propaganda Post:

Big ole warm dragon. Small lil cold human. Fit together perfectly. Reynaldo deserves Maximum Cuddles and Jaques deserves to hold someone.

Jaques goes broody. Multiple clan members get surprised adopted. Reynaldo has to figure out how the fuck to appease Jaques while also allowing the clan members to continue their lives for the like, few days to a month that Jaques will be broody.

A low, savage growl rumbled through the air, razor-sharp teeth bared in a snarl. Jaques' back was arched, wings flared as they stood firm on their stolen hoard, defending it from this intruder. Like hell they were gonna let him take a single piece of this away! They'd stolen this all fair and square, they'd defend it with tooth and claw and firey ra-

Reynaldo snorted at the display, stepping over a ravished pillow. "I'm not afraid of you." He chuckled, leaning down fearlessly to snatch a piece of randy from right below the dragon's nose. They let out an indignant gasp, dropping the display in favor of pursuing the stolen candy. Reynaldo laughed and turned, fleeing the angry chuffs and small teeth going for his ankles. "Cmon, you have plenty! I bought this shi- AHHHFUCK-"

Jaques let out a triumphant roar as they watched Reynaldo trip and fall, hopping right onto his back. They plopped themself down, churring giggles mixing with the human's laughter, small claws scratching gently against clothed skin. Maybe they'd let Reynaldo have a few pieces after all.

Quick! What’s one magical shenanigan that brings Reynaldo and Jaques closer together?

At this point in life, Jaques has a VERY strong aversion to other people's magic so any sort of magical presence will send them scrambling. Unfortunately for them, Billy G is already a prominent figure as third-in-command and they will interact Often. The only person Jaques shows more contempt for than Reynaldo in those first months is Billy, and I hope to show that off.

Later in life though, it probably has something to do with a certain highly unpleasant experience all reptiles have to deal with. Shedding. At which point Reynaldo has to deal with a very pissy Jaques who can't go out in public because they can't fully go into their human form.

Well since you asked, how about "I'm not giving up on you" for Pre-Brutesington?

Reynaldo curled further into himself at the sound of his door opening, clenching his teeth to hold back his sobs. The door shut behind them, the click of the lock painfully loud in the silence. He head footsteps- the click of heeled boots that was now permanently ingrained within his mind- approaching him, yet he couldn't bring himself to care.

"You're hiding from yourself." A weight settled on the bed, Jaques' voice uncharacteristically neutral. Painfully neutral. Reynaldo didn't grace them with a reply, letting out a shuddering breath. "You know it isn't doing you any good. You're only hurting yourself, Rey."

A hand settled so hesitantly on the frizzy brown locks that poked out from beneath the blanket. The gentle, if awkward, caress pulled words from Reynaldo's chest, words he didn't think he could ever say. "I give up." His voice was broken, hoarse and shuddering. He was broken. Memories of years past played through his head, of laughing and running and being called what he wasn't. Memories of the past few days played alongside them, shouting and bloodshed and tears.

"You're giving up on yourself. But you listen here- I'm not giving up on you."

A squeak slipped through Reynaldo's defenses as he was pulled firmly to Jaques' chest, quite suddenly spooned by his superior. Their form was so very warm, easing the aches of scratch marks and bruises. Their words settled like honey in his stomach; they believe in him. They don't hate him, don't blame him for the lost lives.

"Get some rest. We'll talk more in the morning. I'll protect you." The soft words murmured into his hair were all it took. As he drifted off to sleep, Reynaldo allowed himself the thought that maybe, just maybe, he was in love.

Aight so. Brustesington ~through the ages~

Very much see them as a rivals-to-lovers type deal. They have a shit ton of tension between them from day one. They're both spitfires on a hair's trigger and get lumped together in an attempt to get them both to calm down. They fight a lot and slowly over time it becomes more and more affectionate. "Hey! Only I get to call him a bastard!" type deal.

Their relationship sorta fully shifts during Cloudface's leadership. Jaques and Billy G. were both close to Dusty but Billy was there first and as such became Cloudface's caretaker and Right Hand, causing a lot of turmoil for Jaques. This is sorta when Reynaldo realizes that there's a lot more to their little 'rivalry', and Jaques' realization comes not long after. There's so much going on in the clan as a whole with Dusty's passing, then Cloudface's resignition and death, and it's a rough time for everyone.

T.R.N.K's brief stint as leader is when Reynaldo fully realizes that Jaques isn't human, at least not a 'normal' one, but he never really speaks on it. The two get caught in a Government ambush and Jaques temporarily breaks through the containment spell and shifts into his true form to protect Reynaldo. Jaques doesn't remember it at all, but Reynaldo does. There's a small window where he's conflicted about it and withdraws a bit, but he eventually comes to terms with it and accepts that Jaques' apparent inhuman nature isn't something he should fear.

Their relationship during Jaques' relationship is... sharp, for a lack of better wording. They're both pretty intense people, with stress and responsibility and expectations pressing them from all sides. Obviously they both are desperate for outlets for all of it, especially with Jaques' sealing spell beginning to fail (they start having night terrors, showing more signs of magic, displaying more draconic behavior, etc.), and they turn to each other for this. Sometimes wholesome, sometimes pushing it. Honestly, it was a horrible situation for both of them and while they handled it the best they knew how at that moment, it wasn't always the healthiest. Jaques' increased possessiveness, paranoia, and desperation for control paired with Reynaldo's growing unrest with the clan and the urge to run away.... not good.

If they were able to reunite properly post-portrait, they'd practically be the opposite of their leadership days. Their overwhelming fires have burned out and now they're left much softer and quieter. They still love each other, but Jaques' time in the portrait and Reynaldo's abusive relationship that lead to his demise have really impacted their sense of selves and of each other. They have to rebuild their relationship just the same way they have to rebuild themselves. That firey clashing from before is all but gone, and they continue to banter but nothing like back then. Post-portrait is also in a much different time, and they're comfortable being openly affectionate- and BOY do they bring on the PDA. Both of them are quieter and gentler with not only each other, but the world around them. It's no longer a fight to survive; now they're just riding the peaceful waves of having fought and lost, but did they lose if they still have each other?
