A Recipe for Disaster (Chap. 3)
Pt. 1 | Pt. 2 on AO3 here
Including a bunch of filled in time from the theater scene to Andrew and Mia’s first outing scene in the movie!
“This is all mine?”
“It is!”
“Aunt Joyce, this is amazing!”
His suite was larger than Robin’s and was on the second floor of the palace, with a balcony facing out toward the gardens.
“It should have been ready for you when you arrived. It was a good lesson though, nepotism belongs in the arts, not in plumbing.”
“Oh yeah?” Steve chuckled
Joyce shook her head in exasperation “We shouldn’t have had Robert’s cousin do the renovations.”
Steve walked over to the large bed and sat down. The wall across from him had a mural painted on it, made to look like a double-arched balcony looking over a rocky seaside.
“This is..very nice.” He smiles and looks around. There’s a small living area directly in front of where he is on the bed, between the platform on which the bed is, and the muraled wall, and he can see the tile floor of a ensuite bathroom off to his right.
“That’s not all my dear, here, press the green button.” Joyce hands him a small remote, so he does, shrugging.
The mural that was once a wall splits right down the middle and opens up into a large room lined with built-in shelves, clothes racks, a whole section of one wall is just shoes.. Steve is flabbergasted.
“What in the hell?” Steve stands and walks through the opening in the seaside, immediately going over to the first clothes rack where the suit from his birthday ball sits front and center. He starts to paw haphazardly though the suits, all similarly ornate, every one is almost a work of art. Each brush of fabric is soft against his hands.
“We had a number of ensembles made for you for special occasions, do you like them?”
“Of course I do, they’re..I… I want to wear one every day!” The colors were exactly the colors he preferred too, all jewel tones: burgundies, navys, emerald greens, and his favorite golden yellow make up the majority.
Steve looks around at the other cabinets, itching to go through them all but Joyce had turned away and Steve knew to follow her.
She walked to the opposite corner and stopped in front of one of the large banks of drawers, looking like she was trying to remember something. “Try pressing button number three.”
This time, Steve has some semblance of an idea of where to point the little remote, and when he does, the lower half of the drawers open on their own.
“Oh no way,” he says, stepping forward and looking down into the drawers as they open, each lined with different sunglasses. When the last drawer at the top stops, he plucks out a classic pair of Ray-bans and puts them on. “Very nice,” he smiles at his reflection in the floor-length mirror, “How’d you know I love thes_Aunt Joyce?”
“Over here, darling!”
Steve looks around one of the supporting columns for her and finds her standing in front of another set of drawers. He steps up to her side, lifting the sunglasses off his nose and into his hair.
“Now try combination…656.”
“Alrighty,” the wider sets of drawers in front of them open similarly to the sunglasses before, but these are filled with matching sets of cufflinks, belts, buckles, and watches. All of them in warm golds, coppers, and brass-looking finishes. “Holy shit, these are_” Steve started leaning forward to inspect the shining gold watch in the top drawer when he was nearly brained by the cabinets above them swinging open to reveal three shimmering crowns. His favorite was in the center, the one of his grandfather’s he’d worn to his ball, the others he didn’t recognize.
“I took the liberty of having two others of your grandfathers resized for you. He'd be glad to see them go to you.” Joyce smiled, looking at them in their case and Steve still hadn’t picked his jaw up off the floor.
“Aunt Joyce, this is amazing, I don’_”
Suddenly, he hears the door to his suite burst open and Steve jumps to stand between Joyce and the door, probably the fastest he’s ever moved in his life.
“Where is he?? Where is that absolute rotten Mother. Fucker???”
He relaxes at the sound of Robin’s voice. “Fucking hell Robs, you scared the shit out of me!”
She comes around the corner, Dustin hot on her heels “Steve, you tell me where that Eddie mother fu_ Oh, Apologies your majesty.” She stops her tirade once she sees Joyce.
“I’m…so sorry…for interrupting…Your Majesty…” Dustin is doubled over, winded. “She insisted on getting here as soon as possible…and she walks damn fast.”
“That’s quite alright, you two.” She smiles at them in amusement
“Wow, this place is nice Stevie, I may have to trade you.” Robin looks around at the closet. “It’s like you have your own mall…D’ya think they’ll open a Scoops here too?”
“If they do, I’m enlisting Dustin to work with you, I’m gonna have a pretty full plate.” Steve sinks down on the circular ottoman just inside the door to the closet.
“What is Scoops?”
Steve and Robin look at Dustin at the same time (“Okay, creepy...” he mumbles) and Robin says “Count yourself lucky you won’t ever have to work in the trenches of retail.”
“Robin and I worked together at an Ice Cream parlor. Stupid sailor uniform and everything.”
“Wow…Now that I’ve gotta see, got any pics?” Dustin gives Steve a shit-eating grin then seems to remember the company he’s in and says “Uhm, I mean, Do you have any pictures of you in that uniform your highness? Just want to make sure to keep an eye out in case someone wants to use them for blackmail.”
Steve and Joyce share a similar smile and headshake at him.
“Ooh, ouch yeah I didn’t think about that…” Robin shudders for him at the thought.
“I’m sure we’ll see them sometime.” Steve scrubs a hand over his face and accidentally knocks the sunglasses off his head with the motion, scrambling to catch them. He loses. “Better those than a dick pic or something.”
Dustin swipes the Ray-bans off the floor and hands them to Steve. “Thanks kid.” He stands and ruffles Dustin’s curls, then stuffs the open arms of the glasses into them.
“Knock, knock!” came a new voice. Murray had materialized in the doorway to Steve’s closet, Hopper directly behind him and to the left. “Your majesties, the projector room is ready for you.”
“The projector room? Wha-”
—-------
“I really don’t like this, you guys.”
They had gathered in the palace’s theater and were going through a damn slideshow of eligible women.
“Shit, give me the remote then, and I’ll ogle at all the pretty ladies.” Robin said, snatching the remote from Hopper’s hand (who looked relieved to not have to partake as well). “Does this popcorn taste like pears?” She aims the question at Dustin, who is similarly gawking at the ladies on-screen.
“Genovian specialty.” He states, before shoving another handful into his mouth.
“Well, did anyone catch your eye at your party?” Joyce’s question pulls Steve’s attention away from the other two.
Steve’s face burns up as the first person he thinks of is staying at the palace at this very moment and is also apparently trying to steal his throne.
“Honestly the only person I can think of is Nancy.” He (half) lies, thinking of the other curly-haired brunette he’d met that night. Then cringed inwardly at his very obvious preferences.
“You must’ve danced with a hundred people that night, you can only remember one?” Murray asked, and Steve had a fleeting thought that Murray also knew who Steve thought of first, by the sly grin he was giving him.
“Well no, I also remember dancing with Lady Appleja_Erica and Dustin, but yeah that’s about it.”
“Lady Nancy is a great choice, Steve!” Joyce says.
“Wait, nonono, I’m not going to marry Nancy. I remember her so well because I talked to her about her writing and then set her up with Jonathan. I don’t know if anything happened between them after that but there is potential between them and I’m not going to get in their way.”
“Nothing has, believe me.” Steve blinks “Hop?”
“Not without me trying, I promise. I told my boy to go for it but he’s got a sensible head on his shoulders and he knows, says they both know, that nothing can happen between them.”
“Ugh that makes it even worse.” Steve drops his head into his hands “I don’t want to make someone else love me that doesn’t want to just so I can get what I want. I know that what I want is also what is best for Genovia, but I feel so….selfish.”
He knows they are all looking at him with pity in their eyes. He looks up to check.
Yep. They’re all looking at him in pity.
He had to leave.
“I’m going for a walk.”
Robin and Dustin move to follow him but he just levels a look at Robin, and she sits back down, gesturing to Dustin to do the same.
“But he’s gotta have someone with him!” He hears Dustin complain as he leaves, and hears Hopper’s low voice say something in response, but no one follows him.
He knows it’s just a matter of time before someone does in fact follow him, so he makes the most of it, rushing down to the first floor and out into the cool night. He feels his chest loosen at the first big gulp of night air he gets and focuses on calming his heart rate down as he begins to walk along the path parallel to the palace.
He had just gotten his heartbeat calmed when something out of the corner of his eye caught his attention.
Now Steve knows he should just walk away as soon as he sees him, Steve’s no peeping tom, but the innocence of the scene in front of him leaves him frozen, shocked, and with a surprising warmth in his chest. Like a flame had just caught fire and was still small but holding on.
Eddie wasn’t naked, not doing anything salacious at all. He was just…sitting.
Sitting at the desk, headphones in his ears, focusing so intently at the model in his fingers that Steve could see a small sliver of tongue peeking out of his dusty pink lips.
He was painting.
Just. Painting. A little figure, on his own time, listening to who knows what.
And Steve hated him at that moment. Who does he think he is, pretending to be a real person with hobbies and not an evil gargoyle sent to destroy Steve’s life?
That must’ve been the warmth in his chest, the small putters of hatred for this man finally sparking into something solid. That made sense. Yeah.
Steve screwed up his face in anger and started back the way he’d come. He was already almost back to the entrance he’d left from when he sees Dustin and Hopper emerging from it to come find him.
“Everything alright Your Highness?” Hopper asked, and Steve knew he could see something in his expression.
He huffed, willing the bitterness he’d found for Edmund on what was supposed to be a calming walk to rush out of him with his breath. “I will be just fine, Hop. Robin in her room, or mine?” he replied.
“Yours, Highness. Said she’d be waiting for you there when you got back.” Dustin responded.
“Thanks, kid.” Steve ruffled his curls again, earning him a frustrated grumble. “Walk me back up?”
Dustin looked at Hopper for approval who said “That’s your job, ain’t it?” in return.
Dustin grumbles again but starts toward the door.
“G’night Hop,” Steve waves to the older man.
“Goodnight, son.”
-
Steve and Dustin fall into a comfortable silence on their way back up to Steve’s suite.
“So, never got to actually ask, but what’s with the getup? You’re trying to get into security, huh?”
“Yeah, it’s pretty okay. I like it well enough.”
“Well, I am glad to have you around bud,” It was the truth too, even in the short time he’d known Dustin, he’d wormed his way into Steve’s heart and life like he’d always been there. It was kinda scary actually. “Just don’t get any crazy ideas and try to take a bullet for me or anything.”
“Dude, that’s my literal job.”
“Well then, you’re fired.”
“Hah! Only Hopper can fire me, your highness.”
“Well I just tell him something to get you fired then.”
They bantered back and forth until they got to Steve’s hall and Dustin had to put on his guard face for the footman standing outside Steve’s door.
Steve could hardly hold back his laughter at that and shook his head at him as they entered the suite.
As he’d guessed, Robin had been using her time in his suite to her advantage and had started raiding his closet.
“Guard! There’s a thief in my shit! Get her out of here!” Steve mock-yells to Dustin to get Robin’s attention.
She starts, and whirls around, chunky blue sweater in her hands, only to be met with a curly-haired teen’s shoulder shoving (lightly) into her stomach.
“Agh! Ha ha very funny, now call off your guard dog Dingus.”
Steve laughs and flops backward onto his bed. He hears them stop struggling with one another and feels it when Robin’s weight settles onto the bed next to him.
“You’ve got a different dark-haired beauty on your mind, don’t you..”
Steve slaps his hands over his face and mumbles out a “Yeah…” He shifts up and leans on his side, propped up on an elbow to face his best friend. “God, Robs, he’s so pretty I can’t stand it. Like when I saw him just now, he had all his hair up in a bun and good LORD did I want to just latch onto that perfect neck of his.”
“Wait, back up; First: Ew. Second: Damn he’s got you down that bad from only seeing and speaking to him like what? Twice? And three: what do you mean when you just saw him?”
Steve’s whole face turned hot “Uh, well, see…He’s staying on the first floor and his curtains were open so I saw him when I went on that walk...” he rushed out.
“Was he naked too?? Steve, you perv! Was he super hot under his clothes too??” She gave him a wicked grin.
“Ew, gross, no Robs, all he was doing was painting this little figure and listening to music. Who does he think he is trying to act like a human being with interests?" Steve echoes the thought he had before.
Before Robin could respond, Dustin cut in. Steve almost forgot he was even there. "What kind of figure was it?" He was leaning over the back of the sofa in front of Steve’s bed, kneeling backwards on the cushions.
"I dunno, man. This one had an axe?" Dustin’s face contorts into a mixture of curiosity…and understanding? “Why? What do you know?” Steve asks, sitting up fully, and not entirely sure why he wants to know what the figure means.
“I don’t know, I’ll have to talk to the guy first.”
“Don’t do that, then he might suck you under his spell and we need you on Team Steve.” Robin says, completely serious.
“Seems like Steve is the one that wants to suck his spell…” Dustin mumbles
“Yeah he does...” Robin stage-mumbles back
“That’s it you little shits, both of you out! Ugh.” Steve jumped up and started pushing Dustin toward the door while Robin followed, both of them complaining. (“Awe what, I wanted to tell you about all the hot girls that were on that slideshow. There was one, Lady Christine, she looked so sweet and_” and “C’mon Steve, you had to see that come coming, I was just making fun of you damn!”
Once they were both out the door, he said, “Love you, see you both in the morning.” and shut it in their faces, staying by the door long enough to make sure they actually left.
“Did he just say he loved us?”
“Welcome to the family Dusty-buns, sounds like you just gained a new big brother.” Robin said, sounding farther away.
“Uh, thanks? You think I should tell my mom that the future king is now her son?”
Steve didn’t hear Robin’s response.
‘Did I really say love you to Dustin too?’ Steve thinks to himself as he starts getting ready for bed. He’d always been very forthcoming with his feelings, even when that was a part of him he made sure to hide while parading around school as the false King Steve. That happened a lot. Where his mind had already decided on his feelings, then tells the person before the rest of him can reel it in.
He’d thought it before, that Dustin seemed to always have been in his life despite only having met the kid a mere handful of days ago, so loving him like the little brother he was seemed to fit.
He settled into bed, saw that Robin had sent her “I’m back in my room safe” text, responded, and tried his hardest to shut off his brain and get to sleep.
—
“Morning darling,” Steve wakes to a small hand shaking him gently awake. He opened his eyes to see Joyce leaning over him “Sleep well?”
Steve rolls over and groans, “Yeah, pretty good.” he rubs his eyes “What's with the wake-up call?”
He’d let his eyes slip shut but opened them again at the lack of response from Joyce.
“Nancy and her younger brother Mike will be arriving within a matter of hours, I wanted to make sure you were ready to greet them when they did.”
Steve blinks at her, then sits up fully.
“What do you mean? Why are they coming here?”
Joyce looks at him, the slightest bit of sheepishness coming through behind her always put together expression.
“You didn’t.” Steve says to her, knowing damn well she did.
“I wanted her to come, at least just to hear you out.”
“Me? I think you mean hear you out.” Steve throws the covers off himself and grabs his phone.
“My dear, please just give her a chance to surprise you.”
“You’ve done enough surprising for the both of us already today, don’t you think? Your Majesty.” Steve knew calling her by her title would really get his point across. He headed to his bathroom and shut the door.
“Steve, please, I_”
“Pardon me, Your Majesty, I must get ready for our guests. I will join you for breakfast shortly.” Steve spoke through the door and after a moment, heard the tapping of her shoes retreating.
He let out a breath and called Robin to make sure she woke up.
“Hello...?” came her groggy voice after the third ring
“Robin, royal guests incoming, make sure you’re up and dressed.”
“Steve? Uh, yeah, OK, do we like them or no?” Steve heard her shuffling out of bed.
“We like them, don’t like that they were called here. English is the main language, highnesses, and oh yeah, It’s Nancy and her brother. My aunt called up Nancy’s dad and had her shipped over here like a damn mail-order bride.”
“What the actual fuck. Okay, how about dressing in her colors, not Genovia’s?”
“Sounds good, blues then. No red, yellow, or purple.”
“Is the media gonna be mad at that?”
“Nah, they’ll chalk it up to welcoming a visiting royal and also me trying to impress her.”
“Yep, sounds about right. I’ll do baby.”
“I got navy.”
“See you in an hour.” Steve hung up and stepped under the warm spray of his shower.
—
Three and a half hours later, Steve stood on the steps of the palace himself to welcome Nancy. Robin stood on the step behind him and to his right, cementing herself as his right-hand man, dressed in a knee-length baby blue sundress. He asked Dustin to be positioned on the same step as her, behind his left shoulder.
He watched as the Genovian limousine came through the gate and followed it on its loop to the front of the palace. As soon as it pulled to a stop, Steve was at the door to open it for her.
She took his offered hand and the first thing out of his mouth was: “Nancy, I am so sorry about this. I promise it wasn’t my idea.”
“Well hello to you too, Steve.” She gave him a crooked smile and hooked her arm through his as they started up the steps. “I know it wasn’t, you didn’t seem the type.”
Steve let out a sigh of relief he didn’t know he was holding in. “Thanks Nancy, I’ll make it up t_”
“What, no special welcoming party for me?”
Steve looks up at Dustin and Robin, their faces twin looks of disgust hidden expertly behind welcoming ones.
He turns his head to the bottom of the steps to see Nancy’s younger brother, Michael, standing with his arms crossed, the opposite limousine door left wide open.
Turning to Nancy (who looks horrified at Mike’s actions), Steve says “Please excuse me Nancy, I will collect your brother. Dustin, will you please escort her highness inside to Her Majesty?”
Dustin, bless him, doesn’t let himself look surprised, he just comes down the steps between them and offers her his arm, which she takes “This way, your highness.”
They start up the steps and Robin remains, staring the most polite looking daggers into Mike as Steve steps back down to the drive, ignores Mike’s outstretched hand, walks to the opposite side of the limo to shut the door Mike’d left open, and returns to the young boy, who looks beside himself.
Steve offers his arm to Mike like he did Nancy, “Apologies for leaving you behind your highness, care to go in?”
He knows exactly what is going through Mike’s head. He knows that Mike knows what awaits him if he makes a scene and ignores the to-be King of the country he’s currently visiting, and what potential humiliation will come from taking the same Prince’s arm like his sister had before he’d thrown his little fit.
He chooses the latter and takes Steve’s arm.
“Good choice.” Steve whispers to just him. And Steve knows they look ridiculous, but that’s the point, isn’t it? Make this gangly, greasy young royal learn some goddamn manners while he’s in Steve’s home by making the taller boy take his arm.
“Wait until my father hears about this.” Mike whisper-threatens Steve.
“You’re absolutely right, Draco, wait until he hears what an insolent little shit his son was as soon as he arrived at the home of a friendly neighboring country’s beloved Queen.”
Mike was quiet after that.
—-
There was a few day gap where just Nancy and Mike were there without their parents, who’d be arriving for His and Nancy’s (already planned) first public outing.
Steve takes that time to fully get on the same page with Nancy, reluctantly try and get to know Mike, and also introduce Mike properly to the “common folk” that will always be nearby.
That last one actually went better than he’d thought, and it was the first thing he took care of. He asked Dustin, Will, Ellie, and Max to come introduce themselves to the young royal later that day. Mike would be staying for a bit so he wanted to make sure he had friends his age around him.
“Alright guys, remember, he is still a royal even though he’s more of a royal pain in the ass than a future ruler…so be respectful, but don’t let him belittle you. I will speak to him however you wish, just because I can...and also want to.”
“You doing a test run for your Royal Bootcamp, Your Highness?” Max smirks at him, arms crossed.
“You bet.”
“Don’t worry, he’ll be on his best behavior.” Nancy says as she enters the ballroom with Mike trailing her, hands in his pockets.
Steve welcomes her with a chaste kiss on the cheek and introduces her first to all his gathered companions. “Nancy, you know Dustin and Robin already, these two you may have met? This is Will and Ellie, Hopper’s youngest children. And this is Max, she works in the kitchens with our head Chef Argyle.”
They all give her a short bow or curtsy, and she introduces Mike. “Hello all, I am Nancy, and please, to you all I will just be Nancy, no title needed. This is my younger brother Michael.”
“Mike.” he huffs, not yet having met anyone’s eyes.
“Michael, will you please say ‘Hi’ at least?”
He huffs again (“Damn what is this kid’s problem?” Steve hears Robin mutter.), but strides forward and greets them each before turning away to stand behind Nancy again.
When he does, Dustin speaks up. “You should run a campaign with us.”
“I’m sorry?” Steve thinks Mike was trying to sound petulant on purpose, but actual curiosity colors his tone as he turns back to Dustin.
“Luca_ I mean Lord Sinclair,” Will and El let out a couple muffled giggles that left Mike confused. “Is going to be coming to visit before you leave, I think; we should run a campaign before he gets here to see if you’re good to be part of the party.”
There’s a long silence that Steve is about to break and dismiss them all before Mike breaks it himself with a: “You all play D&D?”
“The hell is D&D?” Steve asks but he’s ignored.
“Yeah, Will and I do and I bet I could get Robin to join (“You bet what now?”), maybe even Steve (“Yeah, that’s a no.”)!
“Who’s your DM?”
“I am actually.” Will pipes up.
“How did you know he played?” Nancy asks Dustin.
“He looked like it.” Dustin shrugs
“He looked like it.” Robin echoes disbelievingly
“Yeah. I was right though, wasn’t I.”
Mike rolls his eyes once again but strides forward to Dustin and starts asking him and Will something about classes. Max and El have started talking amongst themselves and looked to be getting on like a forest fire.
Steve breathed a sigh of relief and Robin approached him and Nancy.
“So, what are you guys gonna do about the whole getting married thing?”
“Damn Robin, getting right into it, huh?”
Nancy giggled, “Better now than ever. Care to go for a walk, Steve?” she gestured outside to the gardens, blanketed with sunset-orange.
“You’re right, let’s.” She once again looped her arm into his, and they headed outside, Robin loudly promising after them that she’d take care of the goblins.
Mike won’t be a little shit (for real) for long, don’t worry! Part 4 here!

Materials and Mixed Metal Finishes in California Design
People’s taste in finishes for home projects is continuously evolving. A few years ago, finishes in a single project were all one material. Now we are seeing a huge use of mixed metals for finishes, as well as mixed materials overall in a room. Today we discuss these changes and use of mixed metal finishes in California home design projects.
Dean Larkin noted, “It’s really mixy-matchy right now, continuing the trend from last year, with an emphasis on warmth: brushed brass, golds and blacks. Suppliers are stepping up to the plate by coming out with mixed finish items, like handles in two different finishes, for example.”
Dean continued, “You might have handles in one finish, light fixtures in another, and the door hardware may not match either one of those. It’s anything goes and that’s really interesting; it was such a taboo before. People would even exchange shower door hardware so the finish matched the door handles.”
The mentality now is that you can have cabinet hardware be a completely different finish than door hardware, or your plumbing fixture hardware. Of course, they need to work together but brushed nickels and stains go really well with brushed brass, and also mix really well with some of the blacks and bronzes. These new combinations really add interest to a space.
Mixed Materials
In the generation our parents grew up in, the 50s and 60s, everything in the living room matched, but that is no longer the case.
Dean Larkin commented, “Nobody cares anymore. In fact, they are going to the degree to NOT have it match. Your sofa, loveseat and chair were all the same model then, just different sizes. Nobody does that now. You want your living room chair to be different than your big L-shaped sectional sofa. And woods; not to go into interior design, but from my parents’ era, their occasional table and all the woods in the room matched. That’s also not the case now. It’s very ad hoc. Some people feel that the variety gives them more personal freedom: it expresses more personality as opposed to something forced and almost sterile or rigid.”

How to Choose the Right Bathroom Fixtures at Stores in Toronto
Choosing bathroom fixtures may seem like a small part of your renovation, but they have the power to transform your space. The right fixtures combine function and form, creating an aesthetic that reflects your style while serving your daily needs.
In a city like Toronto, where countless bathroom fixture stores offer a wide range of options, it’s important to know how to narrow down your choices. In this article, we'll walk you through everything you need to consider when selecting them.
Let’s get started.
What to Consider When Buying Bathroom Fixtures at Toronto Stores
Bathroom fixtures are the unsung heroes of your home’s design. They not only affect how your bathroom looks but also how it functions. Here are some things to consider when choosing bathroom fixtures at stores in Toronto.
Understanding Different Types of Fixtures
There are several key types of bathroom fixtures you’ll need to consider. These include:
Shower fixtures: Heads, mixers, and handheld options
Bathtub fixtures: Freestanding tubs, built-ins, and more
Sink fixtures: From vanity sinks to wall-mounted options
Toilet fixtures: High-efficiency, wall-mounted, and more
Each type of fixture has its own set of considerations, and understanding them is the first step to making a smart choice.
Key Considerations for Shower Fixtures in Toronto
When it comes to shower fixtures, there are many options available at shower fixture stores in Toronto. You'll need to consider both their form and function:
Showerheads: Rainfall, handheld, or massaging?
Water pressure: Do you need a fixture that boosts or adjusts pressure?
Style: Match the finish to the rest of your bathroom (chrome, brushed nickel, et cetera).
Bathtub Options: What to Look for at Bathtub Stores in Toronto
Your bathtub is the centrepiece of your bathroom, and there are many options at bathtub stores in Toronto. Consider these factors when shopping for one:
Size: Measure your space to determine if a standard, large, or corner tub fits best.
Material: Acrylic, fibreglass, and cast iron are common materials, each with different durability and maintenance needs.
Style: Freestanding tubs offer a luxurious feel, while built-in ones save space.
Don’t forget to account for any special features you want, like jets or ergonomic shapes for added comfort.
Sink and Faucet Fixtures: Choosing the Right Design
Your sink and faucet need to balance practicality with style.
Sink type: Pedestal, undermount, or vessel sinks are popular options.
Faucet type: Single handle, double handle, or touchless faucets each offer different user experiences.
Material and finish: Choose a durable material that complements your bathroom decor (stainless steel, brushed nickel, bronze, et cetera).
Budgeting: Balancing Quality and Cost
While it’s tempting to choose the most affordable option, remember that you often get what you pay for. Fixtures from well-known brands might cost more upfront but offer better longevity and warranties. Balance your budget by prioritizing fixtures you’ll use most, like showerheads and faucets, over less-used ones, like towel racks.
FAQ
1. What are the most popular materials for bathroom fixtures?
The most popular materials include chrome, brushed nickel, stainless steel, and brass. Each offers different advantages in terms of durability and appearance.
2. How can I save water with my bathroom fixtures?
Look for low-flow fixtures, energy-efficient showerheads and dual-flush toilets to conserve water without sacrificing performance.
3. Are luxury bathroom fixtures worth the extra cost?
Luxury fixtures often provide better durability and aesthetics. While they may cost more upfront, their longer lifespan and warranties can make them a better investment in the long run.
4. Can I install bathroom fixtures myself or should I hire a professional?
Installing bathroom fixtures can be done as a DIY project if you have plumbing experience.
However, for more complex installations like bathtubs or showers, it's often better to hire a professional. This ensures proper installation, avoids potential water damage, and often comes with a warranty for the work done.
5. How often should I replace my bathroom fixtures?
The lifespan of bathroom fixtures varies depending on the material and usage. On average, faucets and showerheads last about 10-15 years, while bathtubs can last 20-30 years with proper care. Regular maintenance can extend the life of your fixtures, but if they start leaking, rusting, or showing signs of wear, it may be time for a replacement.
Choosing the right bathroom fixtures from bathroom fixture stores in Toronto may seem like a daunting task, but with the right guidance, it can be a rewarding experience. Remember to balance style, function, and budget while keeping your unique needs in mind. Your bathroom should not only look good but also serve as a comfortable and functional space that meets your daily requirements.

Understanding the Mixer Tap: What Exactly Is It? in UAE
In the world of plumbing fixtures, the mixer tap stands as a fundamental component, especially in regions like the UAE. But what exactly is a mixer tap, and why is it such an indispensable fixture in modern kitchens and bathrooms? Let's dive into the details of this essential plumbing accessory, its various types, and how it fits into the UAE lifestyle.
What is a Mixer Tap?
A mixer tap, also known simply as a mixer, is a type of faucet that blends hot and cold water streams to achieve the desired water temperature. Unlike traditional taps, which have separate handles for hot and cold water, a mixer tap combines both streams within the tap body, allowing users to adjust the water temperature with a single lever or handle.
Benefits of Using a Mixer Tap
Convenience and Efficiency
One of the primary advantages of a mixer tap is its convenience and efficiency. With a single lever or handle, users can easily adjust the water temperature and flow, making it effortless to find the perfect balance for various tasks, whether it's washing dishes, filling a bathtub, or rinsing vegetables.
Versatility
Mixer taps offer versatility in terms of functionality and design. They are available in a wide range of styles, from traditional to modern, and can be used in kitchens, bathrooms, and even outdoor spaces. Some mixer taps also come with additional features such as pull-out sprays or swivel spouts, further enhancing their versatility.
Space-Saving Design
Another benefit of mixer taps is their space-saving design. With only one spout instead of two, mixer taps take up less space around the sink or basin, leaving more room for other accessories and activities.
Water Efficiency
Many mixer taps are designed with water-saving features, such as aerators or flow restrictors, which help reduce water consumption without compromising performance. This not only helps conserve water but also lowers utility bills, making mixer taps a cost-effective choice in the long run.
Types of Mixer Taps
Monobloc Mixer Taps
Monobloc mixer taps feature a single-body unit with a single spout and lever, making them easy to install and operate. They are suitable for both kitchen sinks and bathroom basins and are available in various styles and finishes to suit different preferences.
Dual-Lever Mixer Taps
Dual-lever mixer taps have separate handles for hot and cold water, allowing users to control each stream individually. This type of mixer tap offers precise temperature control but may require more space around the sink area.
Wall-Mounted Mixer Taps
Wall-mounted mixer taps are fixed to the wall above the sink or basin, offering a minimalist look and freeing up space around the fixture. They are commonly used in modern bathrooms and kitchens and are available in both single and dual-lever designs.
Choosing the Right Mixer Tap
When selecting a mixer tap for your UAE home, consider the following factors:
Material and Finish
Opt for a mixer tap made from high-quality materials such as stainless steel or brass, which are durable and resistant to corrosion. Choose a finish that complements your kitchen or bathroom decor, whether it's polished chrome, brushed nickel, or matte black.
Water Pressure
Ensure that the mixer tap you choose is compatible with your home's water pressure system. Some mixer taps require a minimum water pressure for optimal performance, so check the specifications before making a purchase.
Brand Reputation
Select a mixer tap from reputable brands like Kohler ME, known for their quality craftsmanship and reliability in plumbing fixtures.
Budget
Consider your budget and choose a mixer tap that offers the best value for money without compromising on quality. Remember to factor in installation costs if necessary.

Individual Guide On Shower Tray Chip Repair
Plumbing fixtures and accessories are important decisions to make while building or renovating a home. It can be difficult to narrow down the many available alternatives and ensure the pieces you choose are beautiful and long-lasting. The plumbing system in the kitchen and bathroom is the most important part of the plumbing procedure. Let's look at some information to help you choose long-lasting bathroom plumbing fittings. Bathroom fixtures must be functional and long-lasting, able to withstand years of usage before giving way to problems like rusting or moulding. A functional and comfortable toilet is a must for any home. It doesn't have to be expensive, but it should be of the highest calibre. There are many options available, including toilets that can flush more gallons. Think about using an efficient toilet that uses 1.3 gallons of water per flush to save water. Another alternative is dual flush toilets, which have two flush buttons, one for liquid waste and another for solid waste. Because the liquid flush button consumes less water, this design contributes to water conservation.
The bathroom sink is used for more than just teeth brushing; it is also used for shaving and evening face washes. There are three types of sinks available: above-counter, under-counter, and pedestal sinks without any storage underneath. The V-shaped vessel sink bowl, which is composed of materials like copper, stainless steel, or glass, is a popular option. Some are readily rectified, particularly in cases where built-in bathroom vanities are present. Choose rust-free faucets with uniform water flow when choosing faucets and accessories. Make sure the faucets in your home with young children have temperature adjustments to avoid scorching them. Your bathroom will look more elegant if the sink and bathtub have matching faucets. It is ideal to have high-quality, long-lasting faucets that do not drip. Brass, brushed nickel, oiled bronze, and chrome are popular brands of faucets that are available in a variety of designs, styles, and pricing points. There are four different kinds of bathtubs, so you may pick the one that best suits your taste and budget.
Popular in new construction, the conventional enamel bathtub is quieter when filled with water and is heavier. Similar to cast iron bathtubs, moulded plastic bathtubs are lighter and ideal for remodelling projects, particularly if the floor has already been tiled. Platform floors can accommodate the installation of enamelled steel tubs, which are priced differently and come in white or other colours. Various types are also available for shower stalls, including fiberglass-enclosed shower stalls, pre-built shower bases, and manufactured shower stalls. Enhance the look of your bathroom by adding premium fixtures and accessories. To find items that suit your needs in a variety of styles, conduct an online search. A satisfying and durable bathroom experience is guaranteed by carefully selecting bathroom fixtures. An elegant and functional bathroom may be achieved with well-chosen materials, whether for bathtub rust repair, shower tray repair, porcelain sink repair, shower tray chip repair or bath enamel repair.

1. Understand Your Needs
Before exploring bath taps for your Toronto home, it is crucial to assess your requirements. Factors such as water pressure and flow are essential considerations. Understanding these needs will streamline your search process and help you find a tap that seamlessly meets your expectations.
2. Consider Your Water Pressure and Flow Requirements
Ensuring compatibility with your existing water system is essential. Different taps require varying water pressures to function optimally. Understanding your home's water pressure and flow rate will prevent compatibility issues and guarantee satisfactory performance.

Choosing the Perfect Basin Taps for Your Bathroom
When it comes to bathroom renovations, one of the most important features to consider is the choice of basin taps. Not only do they serve a practical purpose, but they also significantly influence the overall aesthetic of your bathroom. With a myriad of options available, selecting the right bathroom basin taps can be overwhelming. This guide will help you navigate through the choices and find the perfect fit for your space.
Understanding the Basics of Basin Taps
Basin taps are essential fixtures that control the flow and temperature of water in your bathroom sink. They come in various styles, finishes, and functionalities, catering to different preferences and design themes. When choosing basin taps, it's crucial to consider the type of basin you have, as well as the overall style of your bathroom.
Types of Bathroom Basin Taps
Pillar Taps: These are the traditional type, with separate hot and cold water controls. They are ideal for classic or vintage bathroom designs and are easy to install and use.
Mixer Taps: A popular choice for modern bathrooms, mixer taps combine hot and cold water through a single spout, allowing for easy temperature control. They are available in a range of designs, from sleek and minimalist to bold and contemporary.
Wall-Mounted Taps: These taps are mounted on the wall above the basin, creating a clean and uncluttered look. Wall-mounted taps are perfect for small bathrooms as they free up counter space and add a touch of elegance.
Waterfall Taps: Known for their visually appealing flow of water, waterfall taps create a spa-like experience in your bathroom. They are often used in contemporary and luxury bathrooms to add a touch of sophistication.
Choosing the Right Style
The style of your basin taps should complement the overall design of your bathroom. Here are some popular styles to consider:
Traditional: For a classic look, opt for taps with intricate detailing and antique finishes like brass or chrome. Traditional taps pair well with pedestal basins and clawfoot bathtubs.
Modern: Sleek lines, minimalist designs, and polished finishes characterize modern basin taps. Stainless steel, matte black, and brushed nickel are popular choices for contemporary bathrooms.
Industrial: This style features raw materials, exposed plumbing, and utilitarian designs. Industrial basin taps often come in matte black or brushed metal finishes, adding a rugged charm to your bathroom.
Finishes and Materials
Basin taps are available in a variety of finishes, each offering a unique look and feel. Common finishes include chrome, brushed nickel, stainless steel, matte black, and brass. When selecting a finish, consider the durability, ease of maintenance, and how well it complements other fixtures in your bathroom.
Installation and Maintenance
Proper installation is crucial to ensure the longevity and functionality of your basin taps. It's advisable to hire a professional plumber for the installation process. Regular maintenance, such as cleaning the taps with mild soap and water and avoiding abrasive cleaners, will help keep them in pristine condition.
Conclusion
Choosing the perfect bathroom basin taps involves considering factors such as style, finish, and functionality. Whether you prefer traditional, modern, or industrial designs, there is a wide range of options available to suit your taste and needs. By selecting the right basin taps, you can enhance the look and feel of your bathroom, creating a space that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
