oh you fucking villain you're going to make me grow attached and cry aren't you? well fuck it I'm enjoying Leadfoot being so overjoyed at the little mundane things of life that she doesn't care about all that much anymore for. many reasons probably. I've been following this comic for a near decade and it's great for my health thanks

Hey hey I need to uuh hum fight you at the back of a Denny's or something over those tags on my cyberpunk post lile wtf? That's such a good analysis of his character I love your work a lot in general but this is doing me in I'm gonna cry, you're so fucking right about this dumb broken man 🥺😠
I will not fight you I will bake you a cake and give you a kiss because you're very sweet I appreciate your kindness 😘
I really love your perspective on Johnny's disabilities and addictions impacting how he sees and interacts with the world-- as someone who herself isn't disabled I tend to overlook the way people view the world through that lens and as a result have realized that I haven't touched upon it much in my own analysis of Cyberpunk, and your insight really was spot-on and spoke to me in a way I hadn't considered before.
I talk a lot about the themes and meta of the game but Pondsmith himself came out and said, like, before the game came out that Johnny is not the hero of the story. He THINKS he's the hero of the story but the way people and even himself idolize him and his actions are in many ways his biggest shortcoming. Johnny is addicted to the image of himself, much like he's addicted to his vices and addicted to his cause. He needs his anchors no matter how detrimental they are to him, but in many respects those anchors were never his choice. Now he's stuck in his place, dug in and unable to move, and that's the way he dies. Alone, unmoored, and stuck in his ways.
He's a very tragic and even empathetic character-- I do understand why he does the things he does and feel for him when he suffers tragedies-- but treating him as a hero of this story is wrong, in my opinion. He's a disabled, traumatized war veteran who was set up in life to fail at a very early age. His flaws are of his own making. They are not of his own design.

@newannyork Thank you for the explanation. I'm glad someone is finally forcing Musk to follow rules (the US government sure doesn't!) and good on Brazil for protecting their sovereignty!
One thing that occurs to me, in light of @brujebutch's comment about France and Macron, is that you can bet that here in the USA, our Congress and their business world buddies who are insisting that TikTok divest from China or be banned from US devices--and just the general loony attempts to censor or restrict the Internet, like the under-18 social media ban in Florida--they're all watching this and taking notes. They'll watch the people's reactions--Brazilians AND the rest of the world, with the most interest on their own citizens--and see whether we put up a fight at all or just let it happen. It sounds like Brazil really is doing the right thing here, but I hope it produces the ideal result--Musk complying and Twitter being reinstated in Brazil--because there are a lot of ways the precedent this sets could end up being a very bad one.
Hey guys, show me the prints of how people are coping with the Brazilian ban on twitter, my morbid curiosity beckons me

It'd be really cool if people could understand that m-spec lesbians should never have been kicked out of the lesbian community in the first place anyway. Letting them have their history back isn't going to endanger us homo lesbian in any way. A sapphic reclaiming lesbian language can never be responsible for the lesbophobic abuse I could face, that's ridiculous. They can be used as an excuse by lesbophobes, but we should just know better.
I just feel like every year or so there’s a new bout of exclusionism which is just shoddily veiled respectability politics. Blaming the minority groups for the bigotry faced from the majority culture..as if we are the “right” kind of LGBTQ+ that they will finally accept us.
People have done this with almost every other identity I can think of in some way or another. They have asked gay men to not be flamboyant because “that encourages the hate crimes” and “why can’t you just be normal!” It was done to trans people trying to join the community. It was done to nonbinary people. It was done to bisexual people. It was done to aces and aros.
I’m just very done with it and so sick of people who may have even faced this themselves continuing to contribute to the gatekeeping.

Hey you're great, take care and take it easy, the creeps are loud and noisy but they do not have that much power and we can block them, and you're right to speak up.
thank you and youre right
it is fun to poke sleeping beasts but its safer to just let them sleep because at least when theyre sleeping they arent making traumatic content and sharing it in public spaces despite being asked not to
the block button is your best friend next to me beetlejuice

I actually might have some recs as a Wolverine fan...
There's obviously the original Claremont and Miller mini from 1982 where part of the story is devoted to his relationship with two different women, love and the conflict of being a man and animal.
A one issue story i really like is Wounded Wolf, from Uncanny X-men issue 205, where we see the origin of Lady Deathstrike, and the issue is mostly about a wounded Logan trying to fight off her and her team while protecting Katie Power that he stumbled into as the fight was pulled into a Christmas event in New York, it's also written by Claremont and art is by Barry Winsdor-Smith.
I also gotta reccomend the original Spider-Man versus Wolverine from 1987 by Jim Owsley with art by Mark Bright. It gives us something about Logans past, shows the relationship between Logan and Pete in the early stages, we get Pete being pathetic in Germany too.
Kitty Pryde and Wolverine is a six issue mini-series that follows Kitty after breaking up with Colossus and learning of her fathers criminal connections (not as bad as it sounds, don't worry) and taking a ride to Japan, then we follow her traumatic turn from Sprite to Shadowcat while Wolverine goes to help her from a part of his past. It's also written by Chris Claremont with art by Al Milgrom
Wolverine: Weapon X is kind of a must if you wanna read Wolverine, it shows the sad and highly traumatic origin to his adamantium skeleton and claws. Both story and art by Barry Winsdor-Smith.
The original 1988 Wolverine on-going has Logan work with a bunch of badass women while living out in Madripoor after all the X-men "died", this is where Patch comes from too. Written by Claremont and Buscema for art.
Wolverine: Season One is a story set after Weapon X and re-tells Logans first appearance of fighting Hulk and Wendigo and joining the X-men, it's not exactly cannon because it changes the story in the last part but it's a nice comic.
Wolverine: First Class (as far as i read it) puts focus on Logans and Kitty Prydes relationship, from their first mission together and then growing closer through adventures, has various writers and artists.
Both Wolverine: Exit Wounds and Wolverine: Black, White and Blood are short stories by multiple different writers and artists, so it can be pretty hit or miss.
Wolverine(2003) by Greg Ruck with art by Darick Robertson and Leandro Fernandez is a oretty good series but it's writing of women is pretty iffy in all honestly, usualy there to motivate Logan, try to sleep with him, give him his emotional pain and conflict, be a plot device or all of those things, in terms of writing Logan it's pretty good.
One of my personal favourites is the short story X-force: Ain't no dog by Charlie Huston and Jefte Palo as artist. A short story about Logan being sent on a mission by Cyclops to retrieve a chip, it also aknowledges Logan quitting smoking due to Marvels Editor in Chief forbidding showing characters smoke on screen.
And that's what i can give you rn, i read some other stuff but this is what i consider really worth reading for Wolverine @brujebutch
Hey Sci do you have recs for Wolverine comics where he's not written by douchebags who hate men showing their feelings? I'm familiar with the character but I seriously feel like I'm missing something out.
unfortunately my marvel knowledge is kind of restricted to spider-man and deadpool and therefore, my wolverine intake is limited to team-ups with either deadpool or spider-man. if a comic book does not have deadpool or spider-man in it, there's a very high likelihood i haven't read it.
sure, i've read x-things, but most of the x-things i've consumed have been more from television and the movies - and my x-knowledge is very sporadic when it comes to the comics. very incomplete. i've just dipped my toes here or there. and i hate the avengers. sorry. you can't get me to read an avengers book willingly. even if it has spider-man in it. sorry. wolverine frequents the avengers. he's a mainstay. basically he's always on every team ever. he's a team guy. hilariously. even though everyone's mental image in their head is that he's a lone wolf. he's always on a team. everyone wants this stinky man around. he's the best there is at what he does.
if there are any logan enthusiasts with reccs, please drop them in replies! i'd love to eat up some more wolverine, because i really do love him. but dear god. i can't read all that.
that being said i've sung praises to kelly's recent dp/w wiii - and with everyone being on a poolverine kick, as of late, i think it's a good place to start. of course we all fixate on wade, but – logan is really well handled, really well-written. just - the book is really good. it's just a really good book. the book is in logan's pov, and it's just - i love being in his pov. he has a fantastic voice, and you just - really like him.
Tumblr media
yes, he's gruff and tough and broody, but - ugh. you like him. there's just no reason to not like him. he's solid. and he just - inexplicably cares, even when it doesn't make sense. i made a joke the other that - that's logan's mutant ability, is that he cares. even when he doesn't want to. he does. he just cares. he always cares. he can't switch it off. god #*?%ing dammit.
conversely, we all care about wolverine. i don't think you have a choice. that's his mutant ability. he's popular and we like him. i don't think anyone has a choice in the matter. i think even if you think you don't like logan, if you actually open your heart and let him in, you'll realise that yeah. actually. you do like him, and you only thought you didn't. but you do. you like him. there's a reason why he's so popular. and you might not understand why. but it's his mutant ability.
even wade's aware of it!!
Tumblr media
i don't know why i like logan so much. i just do. i think there's no reason to not like him. even though i don't like other characters that are similar to him. but logan... logan is different and i like him. there's just a bunch of things that he has going that other similar "tough guy" characters just don't. like his funny silly little yellow suit. i love tough guy characters that wear yellow. i love that he's canadian. i love his short king status. i love that he cares. and i love hugh jackman, too. so all factors mean it's impossible for me to not love wolverine. sorry. what is not to love.
i don't know - i feel like people who treat wolverine like he's just like every other "tough guy" character kind of miss the point of him - i feel like he's intrinsically different, somehow. by way of funny little yellow suit, being a short king, and the way that he legitimately cares, in almost a paternal or even maternal sort of way. he just feels different to me, from other tough guys. he's doting and soft in every single story i've seen him in. including the x-men films. even though he talks like a tough guy and acts like a tough guy and he's got his claws and whatever. he's a soft guy. and he cares.

These anons are so weird? They don't specify what beef they have with you, and try to undermine your points on stuff, without being clear what bothers them? Like what?
It’s frustrating because I get these type of questions a lot and I really wish people just had..constructive comments. Sometimes they are well intentioned but like.. I have no idea what they’re talking about and when I ask for clarification it sometimes devolve into “you know what you did!”

Hello, you say we can use your flag, but does that include commercial use, like on Redbubble?
I have said that this includes commercial use numerous times now as well, anyone is free to use it for commercial and artistic uses!

Remember your Stardew Valley magazine cover? Could you please share what fonts you used, it's for uuuh, a thing?
Had to dig up the file real quick and font I used for the title is called “Trebuchet MS” and for the... uh smaller titles is called “Gentium Book Basic”
I think they’re pre-installed fonts for windows? I know that I didn’t download them. Also, please show me when you’re done with whatever you have planned 👀

Honestly? I love collecting stuffed animals 🧸. I have a lot of compassion for people, places, and things but I have really deep roots in my heart for my stuffed and fuzzy friends!
I think part of the reason is because of the comfort and non-judgement from an inanimate object, shaped like a bear or dragon, and the sense of peace I get being alone, yet not feeling lonely.
When I was a kid, I was always very friendly and liked having friends but I had a hard time keeping them because I couldn’t keep up with how my friends would change as people growing up. I ended up feeling like no one would wanna continue being friends with someone in high school who still played with Legos and preferred going to the library after school instead of talking about crushes or parties.
Sure, I swore like a sailor and had a 4.0 gpa but I wasn’t ‘mature’ enough in terms of my interests, which were comic books and stuffed animals. I kept feeling isolated and a little embarrassed about having that kind of comfort item with me but I met some good friends in college who understood and didn’t make me feel like an absolute child about what I loved!
My friends @not-petunias-again and @greenhairedlady have always been awesome and even have fun stuffed animals of their own. We even had a giant alligator plush that we just had laying on our couch when we were living together at one point, so I stopped feeling so isolated and freakish.
Just to wrap this up: I love stuffed animals and I don’t ever think it’s wrong for someone to carry one around as a comfort item at any age! 🐻🌻

Hey, I’m Lesbian-so-queer, aka Brujebutch or Uidelsib Garcia, and I feel terrible asking for help like that, but I’m currently in a quite dangerous situation, with both my parents threatening eviction and cutting financial support. I’m too tired to have anything to offer but I’ll appreciate anything, even just sharing this around.
I see people doing very articulate posts for these, with details and stuff but I’m not sure what could help anyone trust me anyways, so. Yeah.
I hope you all stay safe during these difficult times.

I don't understand why that anon said that we intersex-inclusionists were ableist or saying intersexuation isn't a medical condition (which we do say) and that we can't be female or male (which we don't say, loking at the numbers here). I'm genuinely confused that they came to this conclusion, is there some data missing from your reply to them that would confirm their saying?
This is where their question is stemming from I’m assuming. Warning, this links back to a TERF’s blog.
What’s interesting is I didn’t even compare what intersex inclusionists vs exclusionists said they couldn’t know it was only inclusionists saying it. I think they’re upset that it’s a mixed bag.
