Hoodoo WitchTips: Divination🔮✨
Here are some quick but powerful protective tips to help with divination when working with tarot, oracle, bones & more.
Divination is still a form of labor, so it’s important to ground yourself and even do a bit of light healing work afterwords. It’s so easy to do divination most people forget or don’t know about these simple spiritual hygiene tips. Good spiritual hygiene, protection and healing is important during divination because you are tapping into unknown energies.
Doing these small things routinely, can help you keep your clarity of mind and even possibly prevent psychosis or the triggering of other mental health issues.
While Hoodoo is a closed practice, the MAJORITY of tips/tricks are present in many cultures and are not Hoodoo specific, with the exception of the usage of Florida & Kananga Water. Non Hoodoo, Brujeria or ATR practitioners can use holy or blessed pagan water as a substitute.

my personal everyday "witchy" habits
drinking green tea with herbs and such depending on how moody i am: chamomile, mint, ginger, cinnamon, rosemary, honey, lavender... based on spiritual and ¿medical? correspondences. i also try to eat as healthy as possible during the weekdays and do some kitchen witchcraft on time to time.
on that sort of same line (and don't take this advice if you're not already a smoker) making my own herbal cigarettes, rolling like 40 cigarettes by hand is a whole meditative process i swear. i do have access to ethically buy some tobacco straight from natives in my area but that and the herbals are not my main smoking choice.
cleaning before going to bed, not even cleansing just cleaning the mess I've made during the day.
lighting candles or incense on my altar: candles are expensive tho so its more common i light different incense sticks during the day. (yes i reek of tobacco and incense).
at least shuffle my comfort tarot deck. i think this is relatable but some of my decks have super strong cut throat energies (we love a no bullshit straight to the point reading but maybe not everyday), but my first tarot deck is always comforting idk.
journal the shit out of my feelings because some days i have a lot of them and I can't even keep up with my own brain being annoying like that. also my therapist appreciates it.
i do wear some protective jewelry but i make sure that the pieces are not easily seen. same with crystals around the house, they are concealed just in case. on time to time i do also stain my skin with protective symbols, but again always concealed.
and shout out to self care, keeping up with my schedule and my mundane tasks. i swear i get so weirded out by free time, like i started this blog because i got a few extra hours to do something other than my job and studying.

From one Witch to another, I ask for some advice:
I understand it’s normal to sometimes feel out of touch with your own spirituality or question the validity of your own beliefs but what do you do to get out of it ?
I mean I know I won’t feel like this forever so should I just wait it out?
But then, I was really looking forward to Samhain and Día de Muertos so should I channel my energy into that and hope for the best?
Genuinely don’t know what to do and any ounce of help or advice would be greatly appreciated ☺️

i would love to hear your take on this synastry..
My Mars & Pluto conjunct her Mars & Pluto in her 8H Scorpio & (Vice versa mine in 7H). Her Venus in my 8th .. & My sun & Venus in her 12H..
what you think ?👀
Hello love,
Hmmm... sounds like it's gonna be intense. Take this from a Scorpio/Martian-Pltuo native: Mars Pluto conjunctions in Synastry are incredibly passionate. We're talking, Mr. And Mrs. Smith intensity. Mars and Pluto are not soft planets - and in the enigmatic sign of Scorpio (plus 8th house), the two of you will likely feel very possessive over one another. On the bright side, Scorpio does rule things that are hidden/depths and everything to do with the psychological aspect of the human psyche. As a result, you might find yourselves sharing your deepest secrets to one another.
With all that 8th house energy, it's very possible there could be some past life debts that need to be paid in the present. I'd also look to see what your vertexes are doing to each other.
With 12th house synastry, be careful that you're not idealizing the other person too much. This can also indicate a relationship that can remain hidden or a secret. Idk why. But it's giving "secret affair" with those planets in that house. You can keep your relationship private without it being a secret. Be sure to be honest with one another, and DO NOT allow yourself to get provoked unnecessarily. Conjunctions are better than squares in terms of harmony, but they are still hard aspects. Tread lightly and be up front and honest. Don't play games, and definitely don't cheat.

⭕ NO TE PRESIONES

Writing The Ordinary Bruja feels like massaging dough—messy, slow, and beautiful in its own way. R.L. Stine once said to keep writing forward and fix behind you later. That’s what I’m doing. That’s what Marisol does too. Keep going 🧿💫 #AuthorJourney #LatineReads #TheOrdinaryBruja #Creative

are we fucking with mars quintile mars synastry? (pisces/sag)
Hello anon,
Yes, we are indeed "fucking" with Mars Quintile Mars in synastry, lol.
Here's why:
QUINTILES
Occur when two planets are approximately 72 degrees apart. It often appears as a five pointed star inside of a circle...
Quintile keywords: Ambition, opportunities, creation, impact, good vibrations.
While it is a minor aspect and not as strong as a trine or sextile, a quintile will have two natives feeling subtle positivity. This could manifest when being active together, sexually, when two of you converse or engage in lighthearted debate. The energy around this particular aspect is a smooth, energetic flow, but it does require a bit of extra effort into tapping into eat because of said subtlety. It is, however, regarded as a favorable aspect and way easier than the square which causes uncessary conflict and two folks getting aggravated quite easily with each other. It is also not as strong as the conjunction.
Regardless, it is definitely an aspect most astrologers would prefer over the stronger, more difficult ones.
Ex: With Pisces and Sag, you'll likely find that you'll understand each other's motivations from a higher- minded level. I say this because Pisces and Sagittarius share a common ruler, Jupiter (Pisces' ancient ruler). Think of things that have to do with imagination, adventure, higher learning, and expansion of the mind. These are the two who could drink together and, after some pleasantries, begin a long dialogue about world religions, the places they've gotten drunk in and traveled to. The languages they've learned. The sex they've had while high. Etc.

BASIC PROTECTION: THOUGHTS AND TIPS (for Filipino witches) - by bruja-engkantada
When I first started researching and practicing witchcraft, there was one pervading tip/advice that came from every experienced witch.
That is to always learn protection spells first before anything else. This is true and important. There is a reason why seasoned witches always tell this for any starting witch who is asking.
But why learn protection spells first? Who do we need protection from?
When we practice witchcraft, we emit this powerful energy that is attractive to other surrounding energies. They might be attracted because they want to feed off of this energy, or they want to put it out. Some scenarios might be as simple as your Marites neighbor seeing you practicing, is scared, thus emitting an energy that wants to shut down what you're doing. It could be a soul/spirit/entity that is weak and needs more energy to go on. Or even a malevolent thing/person that knows you are unprotected and sees it as an opportunity to attack you.
Point is, there are tons of different scenarios for this. That's why it's important you protect yourself. After all, you are a witch who has the power to cast a protection upon yourself. So what's the harm in it, right?
But here's a catch if you're a Filipino practitioner living in the Philippines: It's hard to apply western practices here, because of our "traditional & conservative" mindset, and our common enemy "consumerism".
If you are just beginning in this practice, and you see these practitioners in social media, they have many tools, herbs, etc, and they're all aesthetic and expensive.
If that is the way they chose to express their practice, that's okay. They're not hurting anyone, they can afford it, and it's none of our business what their practice should look like.
If you do have a budget for these tools that are easily noticeable by a Marites' keen eyes, other people around you (even your family) will say this is the work of the devil and you should stop (they'll probably confiscate or throw away your stuff too).
[Note for other people: Filipinos are very family-oriented. Most of the time, even if the child is past 18 y/o, already a college graduate or even have a job, they still live with their parents. Most of our salaries go to the family budget, it's hard to save for yourself to buy things you want. This might be the norm in our country.]
So what should we do? How do we adapt if we have limited budget, or if we have to do our practice in secret? Or both?
Be resourceful, be subtle.
Remember that power resides within the practitioner, not the tools. Check for what's already available at hand. Witches before us live far away from the center of society, they don't have easy access to stuff. They are resourceful, clever, and subtle so they don't get noticed. These are good traits we can adapt in our lives as practitioners.
Here's what I did (and what I'm still doing) for basic protection. I often feel vulnerable at the crown of my head. Sometimes it feels tender after doing some witchcraft. Hope this helps.
What you need:
Your own comb (we need to comb your hair for this protection spell)
Hair tie
Handkerchief
Protection oil (optional)
Tumblr media
All of these are normal household items. They are cheap, and they would not raise suspicion from others.
I do this spell every morning after taking a bath, or when getting ready to go out. It's more like a morning ritual now.
I put a small amount of oil on my comb. And as I mindfully brush my hair, I repeat a mantra/spell/chant in my head. The spell can be as simple as this:
"Sa pagsuklay ng aking buhok,
Tanggalin ang mga enerhiyang nabulok.
Masamang enerhiya ng kahapon malagas,
Upang ngayong araw ako ay ligtas."
The oil is optional. It can still be as powerful without it. Remember, you are the main source of power. Focus on your intention.
When you are done combing your hair. You can tie it. I prefer to braid my hair, as I feel that it's protective for me, like I'm weaving some sort of protection. As I do this, I also incorporate some mantra/spell/chant. Here is an example:
"Sa aking pagtitirintas,
Sa kapahamakan ako ay ligtas.
Di magagandang bagay, sa aki'y iiwas.
Ang proteksyon ko ay walang butas."
After that, I use the handkerchief as a veil. As I am folding the cloth and fixing it to my head, I repeat a mantra again:
"Putong sa aking ulo,
Pinapanatili akong protektado.
Masamang hangin hindi makakapasok.
Mabubuting bagay mananatili sa tuktok."
That's about it. I hope this helps.
p.s. The great thing about this particular thing, is that I get to somehow look like Filipinas back in the colonial era. Here's a painting of what a Filipina folk look like in Spanish Colonial era, by a renowned Pinoy Artist, Fernando Amorsolo.
