ok sit down story time.

same here, he is still the reason. I always liked movies and going to the theater and when I first saw a movie of his in theater, interstellar, pretty much everything changed, and since then, bc of that evening and all - the experience - , I wanted to be a film director too. I could literally spend all day talking abt that day, that evening that I went to see interstellar with my parents, of how I felt watching the movie, feeling every bit of it, falling in love with everything that I saw and heard, being completely taken away to somewhere else and struck with so much, so many things in this movie that I take extremely personal. I say and I am not joking - I entered that theater as someone, and left as someone else - I remember how I felt, I remember the cold air hitting my face covered in tears, my eyes wide open while I was shaking and having hickups. when I think of a moment to come back in time to and feel everything again, I think of that evening.

I still have the photo of the ticket, (I didn't keep the actual ticket cause it's that thin yellow paper that fades away) I found it last year in my Google photos backups. this movie is my BABYYY and I'll forever protect it from anyone, be damned I'll protect it even from its creator if I have to lmao.

I never really paid attention to the person making the movie, I just went to see bc I knew "it's the movie from the person who made batman" oh I loved the batman movies, yeah I'll watch it. well

and it's a KARMA STORY too... bc I saw first time, interstellar trailer on July 31st, in imax, when I went to see guardians of the galaxy, and guess what? trailer came on, I completely ditched and shitted on it telling my friend next to me "eh another boring astronaut movie that goes to the moon and everything goes to shit, conspiracy theory bullshit cliche movie" bruh... to 5 months later... and I get completely obliterated by this movie. (imagine that scene of Loki getting smacked by b 13 in the first episode of Loki - I am Loki and the movie is b 13)

I remember two years after seeing it, I got to write and direct this project for history class in high school, it was so amazing, it was so simple and so silly but I loved doing it, I remember my teacher congratulating me and I started to cry bc I was just so happy and I kept thinking of my fav movie and just being overwhelmed by thinking if "this is what I'll do with my life". with time, bc I am moron that doesn't look up shit, I become a fan very slowly... so when tenet trailer released it was all excitement around and after that I am here...

in the gutter, bc I started to dig into this guy's movies a lot, I thought "oh ok this guy made my fav movie that helped me to go through so much during extremely hard time in my life, I am gonna check out the rest"

when I found out abt the book Tom shone wrote I became obsessed to read, I found it online for #free started reading it in March 2021, but since I am an espetacular procrastinator in reading, it's March 2022 and I still even got to the 5th chapter, which is about inception, I made my first credit card so I couldn't buy a copy, I cried when it arrived cause the book is GORGEOUS. it's all red, hard cover, so pretty, has this hot stamping on the spine, has even the specs in the last page abt the book project ( I am a graphic designer, I love to see all those details). I've been all heart eyes over this book since it arrived.

I cried when Jess posted this video on her ig showing the interstellar script in this hard cover format in all red (my fav color) and she was also talking abt him I was like 😍😭😍😭😍😍😭😭😍😍😭😍😍😭😭

ppl like this grows on me, passionate ppl who love what they do, that cares about the experience, the whole process, that craftsmanship of the work, who has vision and works to bring it to life, it's insanely amazing what he does, it's this incredible amount of love and care involved in every step of making a movie that warms my heart and soul, I see it through his movies, the echo of this man's passion, I just love it so much. and since I started seeing all movie's behind the scenes, you just finally get it. he is so focused on his works, he does it so well, he cares about the quality, and oh... he is such a sweet humble man, I can't get enough of him.

You looked down at your phone and unlocked it. Your eyes strained at the bright light that they hadn't seen in a while. It was a mild, windy late evening and as you stood under the tree shielding you from the slight drizzle you were waiting for Guzma to show. He had been pressuring you to meet up again after the fight you had over you needing a break for your own mental health. You enjoyed being around Team Skull in the mansion but the constant loud music and disruption made it hard to sleep or even concentrate. Most nights you would be woken up by a grunt making noise. As you scrolled through your texts, you read out the last conversation you both had had in preparation for this "reunion" (Guzma's words, not yours).

Your face softened into a low grin as you breathed out through your nose. You'd read those last texts at least a dozen times that day and it still got you. That's why you loved him. Despite his lack of skill in communicating his feelings, you still couldn't be mad at him for long. Plus him being a bumbling idiot at times, especially when he was trying to be soft, was so endearing and cute, no matter how much he denied it when you brought it up to him.

You glanced back down at your phone.

The light rain had started to pick up a bit. It was now audible on the wide leaves of the palm trees around the area and it had begun to seep through the smaller leaves of the tree you were under. There goes any hope of not getting soaked. You glanced back down at your phone and shot a quick look at the time.

8:27pm.

You opened the keyboard:

# Ayo where are you? I'm here and I'm getting wet

No response.

You checked the clock in the corner of your screen again.

8:30pm

The rain was steadily dripping down from most of the tree cover. It was enough that a branch had bowed under the weight of water and a quick torrent of cold rainwater spilled directly onto your head and phone.

You stood there and comically stared straight forward as if you were looking into a camera to break the fourth wall in a sitcom. A large gust of wind swept up just as you clicked back to reality and all the trees on Route 16 swayed.

Shit.

You looked up as a large volume of water gushed right down on top of you, soaking you straight through in a matter of about a second. You felt it roll down your chest and back because it had infiltrated your hoodie's head hole.

Now you were getting annoyed. You debated crying but you were wet enough already thanks to the now stormy weather conditions that were almost as if Thunderus and Tornadus themselves were fighting right above you.

You pulled out your phone from your hoodie pocket. Wet, of course. The screen was awash with red, green and blue smudges because of the damp insides of your pockets. You rubbed the screen between your thighs as that was the only dry place left to do so.

Fucking finally. You took one last look at the time. It was 8:35 and your battery was on 14%.

Great. You forgot your charger at your mom's house where you were staying for the week.

Two whole islands away.

Your thoughts were cut short when you heard the familiar sound of the Po Town main gate slide open, albeit in a much faster, rushed fashion than usual.

By this point you had slumped down onto the floor at the very base of the big oak tree you were being betrayed by since there was one tiny spot you could see there was no rain seeping through.

You heard squelching footsteps coming your direction at a speed comparable to a Rapidash. Oh. There he was. At last.

You could barely see 10ft in front of you because of the rain but you made out a tall white and black figure moving about through the storm.

"YO BABE WHERE YOU AT" it yelled in a low, but sharp tone.

You felt so cold that your teeth had begun to chatter. You weren't getting any good words out like this, so you pulled your phone out once again and repeatedly pressed the torch icon, creating a strobe with your nearly dead device.

Yup. He saw that.

The blur ran towards you. Now you could make out that it was indeed Guzma.

You sat on the floor, staring up at him. You were hunched into a ball, almost. To Guzma, you looked like a defenceless Caterpie. You were so cold that all you could muster was a small "m-mmm-mm" under your breath. The sound was broken up by your chattering teeth and your now quite intense shivering.

As tears pricked in the corners of your eyes, your vision began to blur. This wasn't the rain anymore. You hadn't realized it until that moment, but you'd started crying heavily. It was a mix of your stress and anger but his presence was making everything seem ok.

As soon as he realised the state you were in, he pulled out a scrunched up jacket from under the one he was wearing, stood over you, protecting you from the downpour and pulled your hoodie and shirt off. Guzma quickly wrapped you in the jacket and then pulled you up before wrapping you in his arms and making a swift (or at least as swift as possible while trying to usher along another person who can barely take decently sized steps) move towards Po Town.

No words were said. You couldn't say anything and you were almost in shock due to the cold while Guzma was focused solely on getting you to the mansion. He thought that his night was already ruined and it was all his fault. As you walked together, he rested his head on your shoulder in an attempt to let you know that everything was ok and that he was sorry. You knew that, and it was comforting to you, but all you could focus on was how cold you were. At least this was helping with warming you up.

The next few minutes were a blur to you. You were on the cusp of passing out and you felt like you were at death's front door. You told yourself not to be so dramatic, though your jaw and your midsection hurt from shivering so much.

Guzma kicked open the double doors preceding the mansion. You noticed how clean it looked but you hadn't the energy to even look around.

You felt a surge of powerlessness wash over and you and your legs gave up. You stumbled forward and since Guzma wasn't expecting it, you slipped from his grip and towards the floor. Your head narrowly avoided hitting the arm of an upholstered chair on the way down but just as quickly had you fallen had the man picked you up and flung you over his right shoulder.

"Shit, you ok?" He said softly, trying to hide the worry in his inflection.

Nang-aano ‘tong Sa Wakas Musical eh.

Exercise alone, check.

Go to The Feast on my own, check.

See a movie alone, check.

Go on a solo trip, check.

See a play alone - was able to tick this off just this weekend

Initial plan was to tag my friend Bea along to see the much-talked-about “Sa Wakas Musical”. She declined but since I wanted to see it so badly, I booked a ticket for myself. I was already watching their rehearsal videos and they already made me cry. I didn’t care if I’d have to see it alone, I knew I just had to.

So this play featured some of the awesome songs of the disbanded (but still well-loved) Sugarfree. It had its first run a few years back but I’m just glad they did another one this year, this time in Power Mac Center Spotlight at Circuit Makati.

Got a VIP ticket (PHP 1,500) on its last show day because I already had no choice (each show was almost or already sold out and my only available day was last Sunday).

Days before I got to see it, I accidentally opened an article about the said play. And so I read some spoilers but of course, had to stop reading it. “P*cha self, kakayanin mo ba?” A couple of friends warned me. My bestfriend tried to stop me. Watching it might just rub salt into the wound. (Mejo totoo nga. Hahaha.) But, sayang bayad. Hahaha. :P

So the musical was about a boy (Topper) who cheated on his long-time neurosurgery resident girlfriend (Lexi) with a magazine editor (Gabbi). Topper got fed up with the unintentional put-down’s of Lexi because of his freelance work as a photographer and the naggings of not doing things right almost all the time. It wasn’t a total cryfest. I somewhat expected myself to have puffy eyes after the show but I didn’t. Though I cried when “Wala Nang Hihilingin” was sung because 1. the scene was so simple, sweet, and beautiful and 2. it’s one of my favorite Sugarfree songs. Lakohmpake if the person beside me saw me wiping my tears. Also, at first, I had an issue with how the scenes were going. They made sense but I thought it was kinda messy. Eventually, I realized that the scenes were done in a reverse chronological order, just like that of “The Last Five Years”. I came to appreciate it even more on the wedding proposal scene transitioning to the very last scene with Topper alone, holding the ring that Lexi returned. The irony was beautifully done that I had the urge to let my tears out. Too bad, the lights went on and I had to control them. Hirap maging emotional masiyado, bruh. Also, can I just say, I couldn’t count the times when I had goosies because of the beautiful arrangement of the songs and the powerful vocals of the cast. SOBRANG GALING PO.

Pepe Herrera, you are a theater gem. But with the character you portrayed, I really had a lot of eye-rolling and shaking-my-head moments during the whole play. I heard a couple of f*cking-up lines that I already wanted to punch you in the throat. The scene where Lexi told you on the phone she loves you but you just bid goodbye was heart wrenching. It was too familiar. Crush kita since your Rak of Aegis days pero nanggigil ako sa’yo dito nang slight. :P

Lexi (not the exact words though): Alam mo kung anong masakit? Yung nagmamahal ka ng tao pero ‘di na siya yung taong minahal mo. #WORD

Of course, this piece will not just end here. I know I had to let something out after watching this musical. Coping with a partner’s betrayal is already hard enough. Seeing some sort of a reenactment of that betrayal somewhat makes it even harder. My own experience is still different from the one showed in the play. But of course, you get what I mean. I’m not sure though if I was the Lexi (legit) or the Gabbi (kabit, without me knowing) in the situation. Funny noh? Meh. I know I’m working my as* off to become better and to execute my plans I crafted for myself. But there will still be down times and relapses when you can’t help but ask “Why?” I still have a lot of questions on my mind. I have no choice but to leave them unanswered because I may not even get the answers anymore or I may not even believe them when the moment comes that I finally get the response.

And there are also times when I can’t help but recall my fun moments with him, triggered by a song he sang to me or by our lunch dish which I know he loves or by an item on his bucket list that I suddenly remembered.

Admittedly, there are times too when I am itching to ask if he was the one who cursed my mother through FB Messenger (I just have to let this out. I know what I can do to defend my mother. I just wouldn’t put it into words anymore.) Or if he truly loved me or if he just needed my company (Maybe not enough. See what happened, self. Duh.) I wanted to tell him so badly that if he did, why did he let FEAR overcome his LOVE for me? I hope he felt how I genuinely loved him and how I was willing to do and sacrifice things for him. If he did love me, I hope he should also have made an effort to make it work. If he did love me, I hope he patiently waited. If he did love me, I hope he believed that I will be there with him as soon as possible. If he did love me, I hope he believed in me. If he did love me, I hope he believed in love. But if he didn’t, I hope he shouldn’t have strung me along that long. If he cared about me, I hope he didn’t wait long enough to make the damage even worse.

I want to tell him that I saw his email but I know I didn’t have to respond. I’m not even sure if it was really him or his girlfriend. (Apparently, she has access, I don’t know. She also made a fake FB account so she could pose as him and say his/her piece of apology but clearly, the intention still was to hurt me. I knew it was her from the start, I wasn’t that stupid. And I didn’t have to reply either, I’m not that low. My mom did it for me though. Haha. What I don’t know is if he was aware of it. If so, pfft, I’d rather not say anything about it anymore.) I want to tell him that if he indeed “lost more than I know”, most probably, it was the consequences of his bad decisions. (Sorry, but yeah karma’s really a b*tch.) I want to tell him that if he feels broken, there’s no other way for healing to start until he finally decides to be better. (I don’t really know why I said this, appearing that I still care. Probably, that’s just really how I am. Bear with it.)

ANG DAMI DIBA. But I will just put them all here. Wala rin naman atang nagbabasa talaga ng blog ko so it’s probably just me talking to myself. I know this is just one of those days. Prolly because it’s V-day and I am somewhat longing for him but not really, I don’t know. Arrrgh. Maybe I just miss having a partner. Or maybe I just miss loving someone and be genuinely cared for. Blame it on this musical. Nang-aano eh. Charot. (P*cha, natawid pa eh.) Anyway, I know I’ll have a busy day at work tomorrow (actually, later) and a nice way to end it with my friends at a cafe with Ebe as the live performer (Can’t get enough of him. Haha.) so it won’t be so bad. But I know you can’t blame me for doing this. Hayaan mo na. Nagmahal at nasaktan eh. Kaya nagsulat ng blog entry. Potek, corny. HAHAHA.
