Here’s a video I published tonight. It’s just a silly little thing I did on short power. It’s for my students, but I thought I’d make it public, just for fun.  There are actually 3 things I’m specifically doing that I’m not talking about - that is actually for my students.

Note
So apparently, the third user's name is Bruce and Fa Jin is a Bruce Lee technique.
What I'm hearing is that Deku could use the one-inch punch (https://youtu.be/93gcf30R2hY?si=hktosCK9c54P99U-) since he got Fa Jin and he hasn't which is a failure in my book
I don't know how to tell you this, but Fa Jin is the principle behind the one-inch punch.

Killer
Cold and ruthless
I’ve always been a nuisance
Toothpicks
Two pricks
Olives that I need
For my Martini
leaving the whole world blind
Summoning a Time Wizard to rewind time
Back when my eyes used to shine
Before I said bye to the why
When I would just cry through the night
My mind would be split open and broken
My eyes filled with coins and tokens
Death is a game and I feel alive when I’m chockin’
My next victim chosen
Laughing as they’re twitching
My hands leaving marks like rope during a lynching
I’ll take your breath and watch you leave
Like the one inch punch from Bruce Lee
Bangin’ bitches while I’m in these streets
A trigger finger with a need
As I pointed the pistol at the boyfriend on the bed sheets
While the girlfriend gives me head on her knees
She knows that I’m a pimp
Doesn’t even stop when her boyfriend goes limp
Loading a round, a cuck-tastrophe
Had him saying please
As I began to squeeze
Filling up this slut’s mouth with my seed
Now his body is laid to rest and his soul is free
I don’t remember ever resting
Motherfuckers out here always want to be testing
Using guns made of plastic
Magic rounds
Tragic sounds
Pelagic found
A drowned body stuffed with cocaine
Another dead lame
I think I’m might be going insane
Using steroids to look like Kane or maybe Bane
During the Dark Knight
I turn into a bat man and take flight
Swinging my wood around at anything in sight
Leather covering my face
Masquerading as if I don’t have a chainsaw back at my place
All my brothers are Undertakers
Making a killing by being gutter rakers
Scraping bloody and muddy money
Off the streets to take back home to the honey
So if you see me around
Chocking as I’m smoking through your town
Just know that I’m never alone
So you better watch your fucking tone

Brought to you by my shower thoughts, here's a dissection of which of my characters I think I could take in a hand-to-hand fight!
(Disclaimer: I've been doing martial arts for about seven years now, and while I prefer kata, I spar at least once a week. I ain't Conner McGregor by a long shot, but I can throw a punch)
That said...
Izjik is gonna wreck my shit into the next dimension. 0% chance of success. She's the most skilled in physical combat of my characters and even if she usually fights with a weapon, she's gonna destroy me at hand-to-hand.
Sepo will probably come out on top, but if I could run down the clock, his stamina might give out enough for me to win. I'd give myself a 10% chance of success. Knowing him though, he'd come in fast and furious and not give me the chance to do that.
Without magic, I could beat Twenari easily. 100% chance of success. She's not the first kid I've fought (I help with the beginners class. I'm not beating up random kids, I promise) and she won't be the last. With magic though, I'd get exploded. 0% chance, I'm not dodging a tactical missile made of interdimensiomal fire.
Djek is interesting because, on average, he'd be a more difficult fight than Twenari, but I think I'd have a chance with or without magic. Without magic, I'd say 80% chance of success. He fights dirty, but he's also super scrawny, so I could just push him over. With magic, I'd say 50/50, or 60/40 my favor if I go in with my author knowledge of how he fights. I just gotta dodge that initial shadow spike and I'm good to go.
Without her runes, I'm beating Astra easily. 90% chance of success. She has anger on her side, but she's never trained to fight in her life and is a good eight inches shorter than me. With her runes, she'd win, but I don't feel too bad about that because that's basically saying with a gun she'd win.
0% chance against Mashal. That's the fucking Terminator. Even if he wasn't trying to hurt me, I don't like my odds. The only way I win is by bringing a flame thrower.
100% chance of success against Ivander. Yes, he has divine magic, but Timaz would think it's funny to watch him get beat up, so I wouldn't be getting smote anytime soon.
Elsind is weird. They've got the body of a water balloon, so any punch they don't manage to dodge is just gonna bounce. However, I don't think any technique they throw is actually gonna hurt. I'll call it a draw. We'd both just be standing there confused.
Avymere's fighting style is the closest to mine. They prefer hand-to-hand and have good flexibility. We're even about the same size. However, they've been doing martial arts for about 145 years. That's like throwing me into the ring with Bruce Lee times seven. 0% chance of success.
With no magic, that's four wins, four losses, and a draw. Not bad! This isn't an actual tag, just me rambling, but feel free to do one of these with your own characters :D

Garth as a DnD monk? I can easily imagine him mostly using one-inch punch (like Bruce Lee), for the sake of extreme efficiency.
Haha I can picture that too!

I used the random Pokémon generator to get me a Pokémon to look up, and the result was
Medicham
The Japanese name doesn't have any actual references to the Japanese language, so we're going to skip it.
(It references pants, look it up)
For it's two abilities, Telepathy gets simply translated, while Pure Power is... Actually "Yoga Power". So that's why it's a signature ability of Meditite and Medicham.
Now let's look at a Pokedex entry:
ダンスの ような 優雅な 動きで 攻撃を かわして 強烈な 一撃を 相手に お見舞いする。
Let's divide this sentence in various parts:
ダンスの ような 優雅な 動きで 攻撃を かわして
ような before a noun indicates that the noun is similar to something else, or like something else.
Then we have 優雅 (ゆうが,yuuga), graceful, acting as a なadjective before the noun 動き(うごき,ugoki), movement.
Finally we have 攻撃(こうげき,kougeki)をかわして, "to dodge an attack (and proceed to do something else with the next sentence, signaled by て)".
"With dance-like, elegant movements, it dodges attacks"
強烈な 一撃を 相手に お見舞いする
This sentence is pretty straightforward.
強烈(きょうれつ,kyouretsu, strong), acts as adjective to 一撃(いちげき,ichigeki, strike, implied to be a singular attack).
The verb used can seem a little strange on the other hand.
If you look up お見舞い(おみまい, omimai) in the dictionary, you will most probably find that is has the meaning of "paying a visit to someone who's ill", even having the honorific お in front of it which implies that the whole word gets a sense of "respect" to it, something to not be treated lightly.
... Which doesn't really make sense in this contest.
But if instead of looking up the noun+する form we look at the verb 見舞う without honorific, it does also have the meaning of "to hit or strike", which makes sense in this contest.
(After having dodged attacks) "It strikes the opponent with a single strong blow".
So in this case we are using the polite form of 見舞う and it becomes お見舞いする to give it a more "official" sound, like a pokedex entry would.
Interesting moves it can learn:
飛び膝蹴り(とびひざげり,Tobihizageri) High jump kick
Maybe it's unoffical signature move... Or at least the one I always hoped it would use against me and fail.
When I was a kid, it always struck me as weird that you would damage yourself if the move failed. You are jumping and hitting the enemy from the top, if you miss don't you just... Land back on the ground?
Tumblr media
Pretty much what I was picturing every time.
The reason is that the literal name is "Flying knee strike", which implies that you are trying to hit the enemy with your knee.
So of course if you miss, your Pokémon is going to bust that kneecap straight on the ground.
No wonder it hurts so much.
The anime thankfully made it much more clear.
Tumblr media
発勁(はっけい, Hakkei) Force Palm
"Hakkei" is a martial arts term that comes from Chinese, and describes "releasing internal power explosively".
This is a purely physical action: it's a set of methods to move your body in such a way to generate a lot of force in small movements. One example made famous by Bruce Lee is the "one inch punch".
発 is a kanji that gets used in so much vocabulary it's good to learn it early.

Bruce Lee & The One Inch Punch
I almost wrote, ‘his one inch punch, such is the fame, perhaps notoriety of this display?
We have all seen parts of this famous display by Bruce Lee, where he sits the guy in the chair with the ‘one inch punch’. But I have never seen this, the part before, the events before Lee’s demonstration.
First, I am unsure whether the Karate competitor helping Lee with the demonstration by doing a standard Karate punch onto the guy holding the pad, is in fact Joe Lewis. Lewis , I believe was over 6 feet tall (around 2m) and as Lee was only 5 foot 7 inches (5.58m). ‘Joe Lewis’ in this video does not seem tall enough, but I may be wrong. But, Lewis did met Lee and was so impressed with him, he spent several years training with Lee and would later become the first heavy weight kick boxing champion of the world.
But, that does not matter really, this is about the what the demonstration shows. The guy with the pad is punched good and hard and driven back by the impact of the standard long range of Karate, the reverse punch/gyaku zuki.
Lee then shoots the guy backwards and onto a chair with an impressive demonstration of ‘Fa-Jing’, with his ‘one inch punch’. This then get even better, because ‘Lewis’ then allows Lee to repeat the ‘one inch punch’ on himself, with the same result. Lee shoots him backwards into the chair !
These show Lee’s skills and abilities, but they were and are – not unique.
Fa-Jing (meaning, releasing energy or explosive energy or essence of energy)is central to many system of kung Fu from Southern China. The system that Bruce Lee originally learned, Wing Chun, is a Southern Chinese system, along with Bai He/White Crane Kung Fu, that Goju Ryu is related to.
It’s important, because I believe that Goju Ryu’s Tensho Kata is there to teach the student how to create and use Fa-Jing.

Harnessing the Power of Martial Arts: A Fitness Guide Inspired by Cinematic Legends
Martial arts movies have not only entertained us but also inspired many to embrace the physical and mental disciplines these arts entail. Legendary figures like Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, and Jet Li have showcased skills that are as practical in real life as they are impressive on the screen. Incorporating martial arts techniques into your fitness regime can enhance your strength, agility, and overall health. Here's how you can get started.
Embracing the Bruce Lee Philosophy
Bruce Lee was not just a martial artist and actor; he was a fitness innovator. His training routine included elements that built extraordinary physical strength and flexibility, crucial for martial arts. One of his famous techniques, the "One-Inch Punch," demonstrates how mastering the coordination of your body can lead to incredible power from a minimal distance. Integrating Lee's philosophy into your workout means focusing on flexibility, agility, and the explosive power you can apply to exercises like punching drills and isometric holds.
Jackie Chan's Creative Combos
Jackie Chan is renowned for his acrobatic fighting style and innovative use of his environment. His ability to combine comedy with martial arts has made his fighting sequences memorable. You can adapt Chan's style by incorporating environmental exercises into your routine. Use park benches for tricep dips, swing from monkey bars for upper body strength, or practice balance and precision through obstacle course training. This not only builds physical strength but also enhances spatial awareness and improvisation skills.
The Jet Li Discipline
Jet Li's martial arts prowess is rooted in his Wushu training, a modern exhibition and full-contact sport derived from traditional Chinese martial arts. His fluid style and rapid movements require both muscle endurance and control. To train like Jet Li, focus on flexibility and quick, precise movements. Incorporate activities like shadow boxing, high-intensity interval training (HIIT), and plyometrics to improve reaction time and speed, along with stretching routines to maintain flexibility and muscle health.
Integrating Martial Arts into Your Routine
Start with basics: Begin your martial arts-based fitness regimen by mastering basic stances and movements. Classes in karate, taekwondo, or judo provide solid foundations, focusing on form and technique before adding intensity.
Add strength training: Martial artists require strong muscles for both striking and grappling. Incorporate weightlifting sessions to build muscle strength, mainly focusing on compound movements like squats, deadlifts, and bench presses, which engage multiple muscle groups.
Work on your core: A strong core is essential for the stability and efficiency of martial arts movements. To strengthen the midsection, include exercises such as planks, Russian twists, and leg raises in your routine.
Focus on flexibility and recovery: Flexibility is as crucial as strength in martial arts. Dedicate time for stretching both before and after workouts to enhance your range of motion and prevent injuries. Yoga can also be an excellent complement to martial arts training.
Safety First
While it's exciting to incorporate these legendary moves into your workout, it's essential to prioritize safety. Always ensure you're performing exercises correctly to avoid injury. Beginners should consider working with a professional trainer who can provide guidance tailored to their fitness level and goals.
Martial arts legends inspire us with their on-screen feats and offer valuable lessons for enhancing our physical fitness. By adopting their training techniques, we improve our strength and agility, discipline, and mental focus. Whether you're a novice or an experienced fitness enthusiast, martial arts can add a refreshing and challenging element to your workout regime, helping you build a more substantial, more agile body.

So, with this video, I got curious as to how Jackie would fair given I play her more like a stern Bruce Lee-type over the intended Jackie Chan she was named after, the only concern I had was that I'd make up some things up to bolster points.
But I though I'd do it anyway, whilst trying to be as honest and fair with it, so here goes:
Jeet Kun Do - Yes - While created by her ancestor Bruce alongside Hung Gar, it becomes Jackie's main fighting style, replacing her family's main Hung Gar style.
One Inch Punch - Yes - Part of the move-set, often used when Jackie is using her semblance to boost herself.
Flying Kick - Yes - Part of the move-set.
Nunchaku - Yes - Uses two pairs as one of her weapons' modes with the alternative move being combination of them into a staff mode similar to Sun's weapon.
Shirtless - Yes - Would be done in private given Jackie is a lady.
Physique - Yes - When you're as well-trained as Jackie, it'd come naturally.
Tracksuit - Yes? - Homage via a set of pajamas for her, would maybe count on technicality.
Dragons - Yes? - The name of the Jeet Kun Do fighting style, and born on the Year of the Dragon, otherwise, she's lion-themed.
Nationality - Yes? - Complicated given RWBY & Mythril don't have a China, but she'd hail from the counterparts in those worlds.
Haircut - No - Has a longer hairstyle similar to Hong Meiling from the Touhou series, even in her Future-era appearance.
Nose Flick - Yes - A quirk of her's.
Battle Cries - Yes - Part of how she sounds during fights.
Chest Scars - Yes - Gains them between Present Era & Future Era, usually hidden by clothing
Finger Wag - Yes - Used when working with junior student/s
Phone Fingers - Yes - Part of how she fights.
Total Points - 14 - Only if the "Yes?" ones are allowed, otherwise, it's 11.
She'd likely get a few extra points with clothing homages and referencing certain lines such as "be like water" or "don't think, feel", but I don't exactly have the means to get commissioned art done to get those points, nor have I had Jackie use those quotes in any form yet.

"Nagumo vs. Gaku"
{This week we got THREE double-spread pgs once again!! Thank you again Suzuki!}
{The battle between Nagumo & Gaku continues}
Pg.1
*The battle between Nagumo & Gaku continues. Gaku is charging towards Nagumo*
Pg.2 & 3 (double spread)
*Gaku sends them both crashing through the wall, and they land on a walkway bridge on the lower level where there's exhibits of airplane and cars. I think it's some sort of vehicular exhibit room?* Nagumo, sliding backwards: He's strong.. Maybe even stronger than those I've ever went up against. Gaku: ...It's been a while since I last fought this long against just one person. Nagumo: You alright? Need a toilet break? Gaku: Nah I'll finish this up and go.
Pg.4
*They continue fighting. Gaku suddenly jumps & goes behind Nagumo and then he swings down his weapon. The sheer force sends Nagumo crashing through the bridge. The bridge broke!*
Pg.5
*Nagumo is unharmed and he manages to pull out his weapon, which takes the form of a sickle.* Gaku (thinking): A sickle...? *Nagumo swings the sickle to Gaku*
Pg.6
*But Gaku easily blocks the attack with his weapon* Nagumo: ! *Nagumo stares at Gaku, who's getting ready to do the Bruce Lee punch again... i think?*
Pg.7
*Gaku positions his left hand at Nagumo's chest and next thing Nagumo was flying back from the impact of Gaku's hit. It's the Bruce Lee punch, confirmed!*
Pg.8
*Nagumo crashes through the airplane exhibit* Nagumo (thinking): One-inch strike, huh! Nagumo (thinking): He has good reflexes. And the way he fights... is just like Sakamoto-kun from back in the days. Nagumo: So you like Bruce Lee, huh? Gaku: Huh...? Who's that? Nagumo: Whaaaaat...
Pg.9
*Nagumo now has switched his weapon to an axe! Cool asf!* Nagumo: You really don't know who that is? Nagumo: That's strange~~ Gaku: ! Gaku (thinking): His weapon changed again.. Hammer? No, it's an axe..?
Pg.10 & 11 (double spread)
*Nagumo swings the axe, sending Gaku flying back. The airplane exhibit falls off, i think..?*
Pg.12
Gaku (thinking): What a troublesome weapon.. It has a default form but can transform into a dual sword, sickle, and an axe.. Bet there's a few more hidden forms. If I were the user, I'm sure I'll destroy it in just a day. Gaku (thinking): Y'know what, I'm lazy to think about stuff like this.
Pg.13
Gaku: Enough of this. *Gaku suddenly imagines him & Nagumo as if they were characters fighting in a game battle*
Pg.14
Gaku: After all, killing is just like a game, right? What a waste if you don't enjoy it while you're at it. Nagumo: ... *Gaku prepares to attack, and Nagumo is on the ready*
Pg.15
*Nagumo stabs Gaku, through the hand that Gaku uses to block the attack. Gaku's expression is so unfazed, dafug.* *Then Gaku twists his hand and broke Nagumo's blade, and he immediately tries to land a punch on Nagumo* Nagumo: !
Pg.16
*The two continue fighting*
Pg.17
*Gaku swings down his weapon but Nagumo easily blocks it with his weapon too* Nagumo: !! Nagumo: ...tch! Gaku: Don't ya think.. weapons must be sturdy and have weight?
Pg.18 & 19 (double spread)
*Nagumo suddenly stabs Gaku in the midsection with an invisible blade* Gaku: !? Gaku (thinking): An invisible blade?! Nagumo: "Lying" is all that matters in killing.
{Invisible blade, huh? Sorry but Seba did that first, so Nagumo is a fraud lol}

I feel like Tekken 8's got some pretty good designs, but some of the general art style choices (like the rippling muscles) don't look right, especially on a character like Law. The muscle stuff is also funny because Zangief in SF6 shows that you go exaggerated while still having a degree of naturalism. Like 'Gief is JACKED, but he actually looks like he has body fat, so when he hits those poses he actually looks impressive rather than looking like his heart is gonna blow.
That said, I think the Mishima Family's designs have been pretty solid, King looks great minus being on the roids, I actually like Jack-8's design mostly, and while Law looks rough, I appreciate them tripling down on the Bruce Lee influence (moving his chest scar to the center of his chest for maximum Enter the Dragon vibes, giving him the Enter the Dragon stomp for his Rage Art, etc.).
okay, watching over the law trailer again, the veins arent like...SUPER present normally and law looks pretty cool otherwise. i think i had an overly visceral reaction when i first saw them.
but yea, they are going extra bruce lee with him, even the pose where his veins explode out of his body is a reference to way of the dragon. i love that they even got that "cry face" that bruce lee had at the end of his enter the dragon stomp. also love how the one inch punch looks and i generally hate that move in video games.
like i think tekken 8 looks fantastic, its just that the general art direction doesnt vibe with me...not in the way that sf6 does
i think for me the most impressive thing about tekken 8 (and tekken in general) is how the characters animate. it really adds to their personality. i love watching the characters just move around
king looks awesome and i think the veins actually ADD to his look mostly because i see it as a funny commentary on pro wrestling and steroids, even though it most definitely is not that.
