Are there comics out there where Bruce is abusive towards Dick? Yeah. Would I personally think of Bruce, in general and as a concept rather than as one specific version of himself, as Dick's abuser? No.

#this is a schrodingers batman kind of situation #there are versions of batman out there who would be #there are also versions of batman out there who would kill those versions for it #but this is ALSO very much a personal perception kind of deal #there's plenty of people who think allowing dick or any of them to be robin is abuse in itself #but also for me personally this goes back to “abuse is something that you do rather than something that you are”#most people have abused at least once. it's incredibly easy to do by accident #the only way to truly avoid it is to accept that it's always a possibility #learn what increases risk and learn from your mistakes #bruce is at much greater risk of abusing because of the sheer AMOUNT of power that he has #but he is also veeeery concerned about his own accountability and responsibility to a truly obsessed degree #that's what makes him so interesting imo #just sitting here in my “i love nuance!” shirt #vintagerobin.txt #tag rant
