Farmhouse Decor
Evoking a feeling of nostalgia and familiarity, farmhouse decor consists of warm, weathered textures and a balance of old and new. Farmhouse is a laid-back style that harkens back to long-standing traditions and a heritage of simplicity reminiscent of well-loved and well-used functional items. A sophisticated twist to a country style, farmhouse decor adds casual elegance that’s functional without being fussy. Balancing old and new makes for a warm, cozy and relaxing space that’s full of charm and character. To master the look, a space should be decorated as if it’s evolved over time with styles and materials that are mixed. Decorate with items that have meaning, whether that be a precious heirloom handed down through the family or a brand new piece that you fell in love with. Practicality is key as nothing should be too delicate or dainty. Instead, choose items that are hardy yet sophisticated. Newer items mixed with vintage flea market finds and treasured hand-me-downs is sure to create a clean and stylish interior that feels warmhearted and genuine. Rustic Farmhouse Wall Art
The Farmhouse decor style has evolved into several different hybrid styles which mix and match the essence of the style with other popular and well-loved styles.
French Farmhouse
Create a farmhouse space with French provincial style by using a color palette consisting of cool grays and crisp white. Incorporate beautiful marble pieces, galvanized metal elements and mix in warm touches such as hardwood flooring and rustic accents to create an airy, light space that has a French country inspired feel.
Scandinavian Farmhouse
Scandinavian style is known for a minimalist, clean-lined, bright aesthetic. Create a Scandinavian farmhouse style by mixing these elements with rustic or vintage accents and textures to warm up the modern feel and give it a cozier and more casual style.
Rustic Farmhouse
Rustic farmhouse style takes a slightly more rugged approach to the style by combining distressed woods, vintage accents, open shelving and warm wood tones. The addition of some earthy colors and textured accents makes for a warm, cozy space that feels both masculine and feminine.
Modern Farmhouse
When rustic meets refined, you have the perfect definition of modern farmhouse style. Smooth clean lines, simplicity, bright and neutral or monochromatic color schemes make for a contemporary twist to the more laid-back and eclectic farmhouse feel. The focus is on simplicity and is accented by small warm touches such as vintage styled accents, natural wood textures and neutral contrast pieces.
Coastal Farmhouse
Create a coastal farmhouse feel by incorporating wood beams, ship lap or bead board and sea glass as your warm and weathered farmhouse textures. Gold or brass metals blend beautifully with colors inspired by the ocean to give a light, breezy feeling to the space.
Colonial Farmhouse
Colonial farmhouse style is a blending of the nostalgic essence of farmhouse with old-world style. Achieve the primitive Americana style with a muted natural color scheme, exposed brick fireplaces and flooring, historical accents, primitive wood pieces and the well-loved colonial grid windows and cabinet doors.
Traditional Farmhouse
Traditional farmhouse style is the closest to the style that started the movement. Inspired by the original farmhouse aesthetic, you’ll find simple cabinetry, mixed metals, primitive wood pieces and functional design without frills. Everything has a practical purpose and is understated in design.
Industrial Farmhouse
The soft warmth of farmhouse style is given a more masculine vibe through the use of industrial elements. Create this look through the use of dark metals, concrete, old-fashioned Edison bulb lighting, natural wood and gray color schemes. Its both urban and country with a perfect balance of femininity and masculinity.
Rustic Decor
Today’s rustic style has emerged into a design style that emphasizes rugged beauty with nature-inspired textures and simple, earthy colors. It evokes a warm, inviting embrace through the use of rough-hewn charm and imperfection. Start with a neutral, natural color palette to create a soothing environment that’s reminiscent of the great outdoors. Rustic style favors more masculine and roughly-textured items that provide a distinct drama and grounding of the space. Choose natural, distressed or unfinished wood textures, exposed stone or brick and worn leather mixed with oversized cozy furniture to achieve the signature character-filled aesthetic. Be sure to avoid items that seem too new or polished, such as choosing a brushed metal over a shiny one to evoke a more old-time, imperfect feeling. Roughened textures such as jute, sisal or braided rugs and natural fiber woven textiles such as chunky blankets and pillows highlight the style and add textural interest to the space. Vintage touches and simple, bold patterns will keep with the essence of nature theme and give the raw, unrefined feeling of bringing the outside indoors.
Rustic style is a classic style that blends well with other similar aesthetics. It has evolved into different hybrid styles which mix and match the essence of the style with other popular and well-loved styles.
Modern Rustic
To achieve a more modern rustic style, pair darker, heavier elements with light colored accents such as white furniture, paint or accessories to create a balance that keeps the space feeling more modern while allowing the beautiful natural elements to shine. Similar to other modern styles, the focus is on minimalist arrangements that allows for a simple flow. The blending of light and dark brings warmth to monochromatic spaces and gives an eclectic contemporary vibe while retaining classic rustic charm.
Rustic Chic
Rustic chic differs from classic rustic style through the choice of furniture and a broadening of the color palette. While traditional rustic style focuses on oversized, cozy and well-worn pieces, rustic chic is more modern. It’s about creating a contrast between the rough and natural rustic style and sleek contemporary lines. For example, using bright metals such as stainless and chrome to contrast against warm natural woods. While rustic chic is simpler and cleaner, it’s important to still focus on some natural and primitive accessories that bring in the undeniable rustic charm. The natural brown and tan color palette of rustic style can expand into brighter and bolder nature-inspired accent colors such as indigo blues and maroons.
Industrial Decor
Industrial style decor brings an urban aesthetic to the suburban space. This style merges modern elements with old world charm to create a comfortable space that feels fuss-free and simple. Inspired by old factories and industrial spaces, the style incorporates weathered wood, exposed brick, concrete, iron pipe and industrial style light fixtures. The blending of these elements gives a warehouse feel which is the goal of this aesthetic. Industrial spaces are typically open and defined by the furniture in the room. A natural color palette with a mix of grays and warm neutrals keeps the space grounded. The goal is to incorporate raw materials to make the space feel simple and unfinished.
Industrial style is a style that blends well with other similar aesthetics. It has evolved into different hybrid styles which mix and match the essence of the style with other popular and well-loved styles.
Vintage Industrial
The no-nonsense style of industrial decor is given a vintage feel through the incorporation of salvaged and recycled materials. Vintage tin tiles, a rusty old advertising sign, cast-iron radiators, antique lighting, old metal gym lockers and other worn and weathered vintage or antique accents add the perfect touch of history to make the space feel both old-fashioned and modern.
Rustic Industrial
Warm up industrial style with earthy, natural elements and color palettes. Incorporate worn or distressed leather and rough-hewn wood elements along with the dark metal and exposed brick to bring the simple and comfortable functionality of rustic style into an industrial space.
Industrial Farmhouse
The dark, masculine feel of industrial decor gets a touch of feminine warmth when farmhouse style elements are incorporated. Lighter colors and softer textures paired with dark metals and wood make for a comfortable space that feels comfortable and lived in while still maintaining a utilitarian vibe.

Ideas to design your quartz countertop island
Most homeowners choose to highlight their kitchen island by choosing cabinets and counters that will dominate the area. Kitchen islands add function and style to the room and often gets so much use, so it is important to choose a material that is durable and beautiful. Quartz countertop island is low maintenance and has a wide variety of colors and styles. Check out these kitchen ideas with quartz material to get a fashionable and functional countertop island. #Design 1: Classic white island A classic white countertop island will never go out of fashion. A white quartz countertop with subtle gray veining make it stand out from the white cabinets. It will also match with the white quartz backsplash perfectly. #Design 2: Contemporary white island White quartz island can be considered as traditional or transitional style. This contemporary white countertop is the perfect complement to a modern design. The light color ties well with the light colored wood that helps create a light, inviting kitchen. White is a popular color to design countertop islands #Design 3: Bright white kitchen island Bright white kitchen countertops have been a popular idea for lofts and other modern spaces. This countertop design has a cream tone which coordinates with a subtle pale grey cabinet base. An additional thing that makes it a minimalist idea is that the rest of the walls are bright white with only some natural wood showing.   #Design 4: Rustic modern design island In the kitchen, this design means blending things like exposed wood beams in the ceiling with sleek and contemporary appliances. The best material for this countertop island is white quartz.  #Design 5: Contrasting design island This is one of the most dynamic, eye-catching designs. Adding an island to the design of the room offers you the ability to switch up the color scheme. The whole area is gray, added with the warm wood of the perimeter and a white, gray quartz countertop.  #Design 6: Crisp white waterfall island Cascading the countertop over one side brings out more of its color and presence in the kitchen. The bright white quartz countertop picks up the other clean white lines in the room. Waterfall countertop is an attractive and cohesive design.  #Design 7: Monochromatic gray island Gray is becoming a popular color of countertops which allows a lot of room for personal expression. This design features many shades and textures of gray. A smooth gray quartz countertop helps set the tone for the room. Gray quartz countertop helps set the tone for the room #Design 8: Multidimensional island Multidimensional island is a unique design which features not only a built-up counter, but also a waterfall and a column. This is not a design for a single, flat surface fan.  #Design 9: Softly colored island Including approachable, warm, soft tones in the kitchens helps to create a perfect gathering place for the entire family. This makes the area feel more like home to many people because the soft beige quartz countertop creates a warm, welcoming atmosphere in the room. #Design 10: Deep, rich design island Not many people enjoy dark-colored kitchens, however if you do it right, it can be stunning. This design features a lot of deep grays offset with warm natural wood, along with the deep black quartz countertop with white veins on the island. The white fits in well in the room which helps soften the counter visually. #Design 11: Black and white island This design features an island with black painted cabinetry, topped by a bright, snowy white quartz countertop. What makes it special is the contrast between the two colors. Black and white island is completed by bright brass faucets and hardware. #Design 12: Long island counter design Long and thin kitchen is an eye-catching design, with sleek white quartz countertop fits well with the length of the surface. The subtle colors keep the long surface from becoming overly busy, and the hints of gray pick up the color of the walls. #Design 13: Soft white island counter Soft white island counter highlights bright white cabinetry contrasted with a warm, deep wood floor. The soft white color of countertop island warms up the center of the room. This helps keep the contrast between the floors and the cabinets from overpowering the space. #Design 14: T-shaped island T-shaped island requires a large kitchen This design requires your kitchen to be a large area as there are two sets of cabinets set perpendicularly to one another. The island counter must be shaped into a T to follow the lines and your family can sit on three sides. Many countertop materials can’t handle being overhung on three sides or they need to be bent or cracked to be able to resist. Quartz is an exception, it is durable enough to handle the job.  #Design 15: Soft and subtle island counter Soft and subtle island counter features many shades of gray, including a marble backsplash and gray island, added with a white quartz countertop. The subtle gray veins in the counter fit in with the rest of the room, and the crisp white background behind makes them stand out. #Design 16: Warm island complement A dark brown countertop island contrasts the lighter cabinets around the perimeter of the room. The soft, warm color and pattern of the quartz help tie the two areas together. They complement the dark brown, and remain light enough to fit in the rest of the kitchen.  #Design 17: Sleek island topper This open design features a very sleek center island. The rich, warm gray color of the island combined with the white veins in the quartz countertop perfectly. The white color helps bring some light to the center of the room.  #Design 18: Island focus This design focuses on making the island shine, by painting the kitchen with an eye catching color. Also, you need to use a bright color countertop to match with the rest of the kitchen. This design helps create a more cohesive kitchen island. Now you have several ideas to create your dream kitchen island with quartz. With many different colors and styles of quartz to choose from, you’ll have no trouble finding one that makes your kitchen the ideal area in your home. Read the full article

Scandinavian Design Trends Fit Open Floorplans
Clean, unobstructed lines with plenty of natural light and natural woodwork are hallmarks of a Scandinavian-style open floorplan.
Among all the international influences on building and decorating, Scandinavian design leads the way. Taking cues in fashion and interior design from around the world is nothing new in Madison WI. Like most Americans, Madison area residents embrace a relaxed, simplified, sustainable lifestyle. One of the hottest “buzz words” amongst interior designers from coast-to-coast is the Danish Hygge style (pronounced hoo-gah). It’s the latest in decades-old “Danish modern” concepts. How hot is it? There are nearly 900 different books on the subject available on Amazon!
Design styles from Scandinavia emphasize natural, simplistic, uncluttered space. They are anchored by one theme – marrying form with function. The uncluttered approach is an ideal match to the ever-popular open floorplan designs. Hygge, according to Danish designers, combines emotional and physical comfort and appreciation for natural elements. A New York City designer calls it: “A balance between too much stuff and an absence of life in your space.” Hygge-inspired designs go anywhere in the house from bathrooms to kitchen.
Scandinavian Design Isn’t New
The minimalist combination of form and function is not a new concept. It originally found its way to Wisconsin in the early 1950s – highlighted by pale colors, natural materials and lean, leggy furniture. All these elements make up the interior design style of the 21st century.
Designers suggest an assortment of ways to bring this unique blend of form and function to your Madison lifestyle. There are many elements to consider but the most important is the idea of form matching function – no wasted spaces.
Light-colored woods on floors and furniture are features of a Scandinavian plan. Polished metal light fixtures add shine to the room.
Form plus function – every space highlights clean lines, smooth rounded edges, natural colors and unobstructed sightlines. Rooms are visually appealing. Furnishings reflect the same features – smooth surfaces, rounded corners and lots of natural wood and fabric. The space is easy to navigate and easy to clean. There is no clutter. However, getting rid of clutter (too many pieces of furniture for example) doesn’t me emptying the space of style. An open room provides an exceptional place for bold design statements.
Bringing nature inside is a basic principle. Accomplish it with window and door styles plus basic building materials. Inviting light into the room is important. Keeping with the plan, there are few, minimal window treatments – making the most of natural light.
The warmth and natural appeal of wood everywhere from floor to exposed beamed ceilings is another key element. An element carried through furniture, too. Because native woods in that part of the world are mostly light-colored, Scandinavian-style furniture uses mostly light-colored wood.
For dramatic contrast, metal lighting and accents are equally popular. Copper, brass and other warm tones are ideal ways to add a shine to any room.
Explore Key Basics
With its emphasis on natural materials it is no surprise that hardwood floors replace carpeting. Among the basic elements of a Scandinavian-style open floorplan are:
Never too much lighting – because daylight hours in Scandinavia are limited much of the year, lighting is a critical element. Light fixtures are prefect examples of how style blends with a vital function. Any light source fits – from pendants to wall-mounted sconces. Large uncovered windows bring in natural light.
Natural wood floors – light-colored wood flooring is a top choice and in many designs the floors are painted white or gray. Lighter floors make the most of light. Making use of wood-look tiles, underfloor heating is popular in bathrooms.
Nature’s color palette – natural colors are the choice. Scandinavian decorating leans toward neutral hues – various forms of white and gray highlighted with black and shades of brown. Other natural colors like sea green add accents. In most designs walls remain light, allowing furniture and art to define the space.
Seek A Guide To Find Your Style
There is no one right design style for your home. The rebirth of trends from Europe and Scandinavia reemphasize comfort, simplicity and performance. Your lifestyle dictates what fits your family. 6. TRYP Maritime by Wyndham
Location: Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Number of Rooms: 150
Three Interesting Facts: 1. After acquiring TRYP from a Spanish hotel chain in 2010, Wyndham turned it into its millennial-friendly brand, similar to Hilton’s Canopy or Marriott’s Moxy. Looking for the beach? You won’t find that here. TRYP Maritime rests among the yachts on New River, part of the Intracoastal Waterway, so you’re close to the airport and the cruise port, about a 15-minute drive from Fort Lauderdale’s sandy beaches. 3. Amenities include an indoor basketball court, Vita Course and complimentary shuttle service.
Loyalty Program: Wyndham Rewards
Price: No prices were available at press time, but rooms will be available starting at 15,000 Rewards points per night, as per Wyndham’s brand-wide policy.

Cueva Siete, one of four on-site restaurants, features a rotating chef program — first up is Christian Bravo, a Top Chef Mexico contestant and native of Puebla.
