I like to think Okuyasu has a shrine for Keicho and their mom. Whenever he gets stuck in life, he asks Keicho for guidance at the shrine. I like to think Keicho enlightens him but not directly. The solution Keicho came up with just pops in Yasu’s head when hes at the shrine. Anyone else would believe that he thinks of these solutions at the shrine because he asks himself “what would Keicho do?” and so he thinks of a very Keicho solution. But Keicho is there. Nobody can see him, but Keicho is there to guide Yasu.

This is partially canon? It’s like the scene where Yasu almost died.

I like to think that he also just talks to Keicho and their mom at the shrine when big stuff happens in his life. “I got accepted into college!” “I got a girlfriend!” “I have an apprenticeship at this place!” He knows they’re there listening to him ramble with a smile

The thing about Keicho is that I genuinely believe that his head is lodged so far up his own ass that he doesn't think about other people enough to hold grudges. Like 99% of the time he's either thinking about his dad, Okuyasu, or the current stand user candidate that he's stalking. There is almost zero spare bandwidth in his head available for other people. Josuke Higashikata is the single exception to that.

I've seen AU fic where Keicho has been some kind of traumatized after surviving Akira's attack, and to be fully honest I don't think he'd really be affected like that? The guy has a list of traumatic experiences the length of his arm already, and I think 'getting ambushed and losing a stand battle' is kind of mundane and not that remarkable by his standards. And similarly, I don't even think he'd really be that angry at Akira afterwards. Like, he knew a lot about Akira's stand and how it worked and the guy still managed to 1. track Keicho back to the house he was hiding in, 2. get the drop on him and 3. get a good hit in. If anything Keicho would be somewhat impressed at the moxie.

Meanwhile Josuke, even with every aspect of the fight stacked against him and in Keicho's favor, still managed to outsmart Bad Company and trick him into shooting himself in the face. Dunked on him on his own home turf.

And then became Okuyasu's best friend so he HAS to put up with him.

NIJIMURA BROTHERS HEADCANONS

✨ When Okuyasu was little, he would always cry when Keicho had to leave for something. Keicho has never let him live it down.

✨ Keicho keeps in charge, but he knows his brothers limits. If he feels like he has been too harsh, he will simply give a hug and a pat on the back as a sorry.

✨ Keicho was not at all ready to be the man of the house, and is still incredibly nervous he isn't raising his brother correctly.

✨ Both brothers sometimes sit by the attic door to talk to their dad. Okuyasu vents, while Keicho curses him out.

✨ Keicho will often times sit in his room to think. He will just sit criss-cross on the floor, staring at a wall.

✨Keicho sometimes sends Bad Company to Okuyasu's room to check on him.

✨ To help him learn about his stand, Keicho would refer to The Hand as a separate person and might ask him "Well what does The Hand think?"

✨ Okuyasu loves spicy, while Keicho can't stand it. The two compromise by buying spicy ramen and Keicho gives him his chili oil packets.

✨ They still wrestle and fight like brothers, especially over dumb things.

✨ Keicho wakes up extra early to make both of their lunches.

✨ He would never admit it, but Keicho is so damn proud of Okuyasu for being so strong.

You can hear him groaning in his room upstairs. Your little brother won’t stop crying. Neither of you have eaten and you’re pretty sure neither of you are going to be sleeping tonight.

That’s what you think—but a few hours later your little brother has passed out, curled into your side, still sniffling. You consider taking him up to bed before you remember the monster in your dad’s room. No, it’ll be better to stay right here on the couch.

You only get up to grab a blanket and pillow, but by the time you’re back your brother’s eyes are cracked open and hazy with tears. He calls for you and you hush him gently, climbing back onto the couch and pulling the blanket over the two of you. He immediately clings to you. He’s shivering. You both lie down and you tell him to sleep. You’ll figure something out, you assure him. It’ll be okay.

He’s a scared little kid who listens to his older brother and falls asleep pretty quickly, drooling on your shirt. You, on the other hand, are a scared little kid who needs to fix everything.

You don’t sleep much that night. You don’t sleep much for many, many nights after that.

sometimes i get so overwhelmed thinking about keicho and okuyasu's dynamic i can feel my eyes start to genuinely well up with tiny tears because of how tragic they are oh my g od ...........,,. , my baby boys .......... fate did not treat either of you well

This is basically canon to me but i keep forgetting to mention this: the reason Okuyasu and Keicho look nothing alike is bc i hc both of their parents to be wasian. Interracial couples have mixed kids and genetics become convoluted; Even more so when those mixed kids grow up and have mixed kids with other mixed kids. And so Keicho came out white whereas Okuyasu came out stereotypical wasian/ asian, both from seemingly asian parents.

I’m reaching here (and ik in anime/manga hair and eye color dont make sense but im just rationalizing stuff), but if you look Mansaku’s eyes are kinda dark green in the anime. And in the manga their mom has blue eyes. At least one of them has colored eyes in both depictions, something almost completely unheard of in East Asians who arent some % white.

With my hc in mind, it makes me curious about Keicho and Okuyasu’s grandparents. Did one on each side come to Japan or did their parents come to Japan? Where are they/ their family from? How did they meet their Japanese partner? I mean, all we know is that Mansaku’s dad is Japanese since his family name got passed down.
