so remember when i made that post about combining trolls and one of my other faveriot movies!, so iv been brainstorming on how to combine trolls and corpse bride into an au!

so i came up with the CORPSE BROPPY AU

not everything will be the same, infact there's a lot of changes, so its more or so the concept of corpse bride that I'm combining with trolls, I have two of the character designs down! so I will share parts of their story first, then show their image, ITS POPPY AND BRANCH! obviously lol

So, the story kicks off with a bit of a family crisis. Poppy's older sister, Viva, has mysteriously disappeared(i can explain more on that later you you want), throwing a wrench into their family plans. With Viva gone, Poppy finds herself in the hot seat, forced into an arranged marriage with a troll named Creek(YOU KNOW THE ONE AND ONLY TRAITOR) from another family. This arrangement is all about sealing deals and uniting families, but there's a catch: Poppy and Creek have to get their wedding act together in just a month. And let's just say, rehearsals are a disaster. Poppy's heart just isn't in it because, well, she doesn't love Creek. It’s like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.

i really loved looking at diffrent dresses from the 1800's to design her outfit, the before is her for most of the story, her casual outfit, i kept it blue since most of poppys canon outfits are, her after outfit is more towards the end of the story.

Imagine being insanely talented, like a piano prodigy level of talented, but instead of your gift bringing you joy, it becomes this heavy chain your family drags you around with. That's Branch's life in a nutshell. His gift at the piano wasn't celebrated in the way it should have been; it was exploited. Instead of applause filled with warmth, every clap was just a reminder of how his family saw dollar signs in his melodies. Talk about a tough crowd.

But wait, it gets more complicated. Branch's family, not satisfied with just exploiting his talent, decided to marry him off in a deal that reeked of greed. Love? Compatibility? Nope, those words weren't in their vocabulary. It was all about the money. And the person he was supposed to marry? Let's just say she took 'till death do us part' way too literally and left Branch for dead—literally. The twist? She never got caught. So there's Branch, a victim of greed and betrayal, stuck in the afterlife with a heart heavier than any piano he ever played.

This is where Branch's story gets really interesting. As the Corpse Groom, he's not just dealing with being, well, dead. He's tangled up in all the dreams and desires he never got to live out. We're talking about a guy who was robbed of the chance to find real love, to maybe play his music because it brought him joy, not because it paid the bills. His unfinished business? It's not just about finding out who killed him; it's about seeking the life and love he was denied.

as you can see, branch is in the place of emily, I decided to make his outfit more green like his vest in the movie( I imagine that the shirt is a hand me down from floyd)

corpse branch was so fun to draw to be honest, he also has a lot more story developed but that's because I'm a bit biased,woops.

So guess who watched Trolls 3 today~

Ngl, based on the trailers I had really low expectations for this movie, and it was really only after watching some TikToks with the villain song in them that I decided to give it a chance, and I'm so glad I did. 3 is by far my favourite of the entire series. Was not expecting to love Viva, but she was fantastic and I wish we had more screen time with her!

While I'm not entirely sure how I will/would integrate her into the Rough and Fluff AU, I decided to make a design for her anyways, complete with some little headcanons/additions. (Click the image for better quality)

More spoilery/AU discussions and 4th movie predictions below!

Okay okay, movie discussion first:

-I fucking LOVE the Putt Putt Trolls. Its so satisfying seeing how the trauma from the bergens being more fleshed out, and it makes perfect sense that they are as fearful as they are. I'm actually surprised there wasn't more pushback when Viva stopped them from executing Bridget and Gristle.

-(How did they escape actually? The tunnels collapsed, but were there other tunnels? Or did they have a different way out? How did so many, including the eldest heir to the throne, get left behind? Why did Peppy not get BOTH his daughter's immediately?)

-On the topic of Viva; notice how her ears are lower/sharper than Poppy's? I think that's typically a more masculine trait (not 100% bc we see some male trolls with softer/rounder ears) so uh yeah MTF Viva real suck my entire nards

-Fuck King Peppy. This guy gets worse every movie. He is the Dumbledoor/Sensi Wu of Trolls. Mans cannot just give Poppy relevant information to save his LIFE. I can understand not telling Poppy immediately, the grief of loosing his eldest daughter would understandably make that hard, but its been over 20 years now, and she deserved to know.

-Also, fuck most of Branch's brothers! I'm glad JD went back eventually (when exactly he did isn't clear, but sometime between the night of the escape and the first movie) but if he assumed Branch had died, why not try and contact his other siblings to tell them? Clay I can kinda understand with him not wanting to venture out beyond the mini golf area and leave the trolls he was helping to protect, but the rest of them? Not one of them tried to go back for their baby brother? Not even Floyd? When Trollstice was a thing?? Branch shoulda thrown hands fr.

-Rhonda the armadillo bus thing was hella cute and I want a plushie.

-I. Do not really like Crimp

-Velvet and Veneer slayed sooooooo hard. I hope Veneer makes a comeback.

-I also hope we see more of the other troll tribes again.

-The music for this movie was absolutely fire and I NEED a full cover of Sweet Dreams

-I wish the Grandma's death was touched on more than once for like .5 seconds. Like, come on guys, your brother just revealed a major trauma, and that your GRANDMA died!! For christ sake, maybe go apologize for fighting?? maybe go comfort him????

Movie numero 4 predictions:

-Broppy marriage. Branch fr said "Lets get married" by accident HES THINKING ABOUT IT

-Either Poppy/Viva get their mom back, or Branch gets one/both of his parents. Dreamworks will pull some bullshit out of their ass and say that uhm actually they escaped like years before the others did and have been, idk, trapped in the shadow realm or something.

-We see Chef/Creek again. Creek redemption ark would go crazy hard IF DONE RIGHT and I want to see that fear of some monster trying to eat all your friends come back again

-Broppy kid reveal at the end of the movie. Unbelievable amounts of Plush Toy Marketing and terrible spin offs ensue.

-backstory/lore/backstory/lore/backstory/lore/BACK

-I just want to see more Trollstice era stuff plz dreamworks

-We get a Sound of Silence reprise

-Branch/his brothers are revealed to be a hybrid/some kind of special troll. I am TELLING YOU this guy adapted to different kinds of music like it was NOTHING, something Poppy and the others struggled with. Hes got something in him I SWEAR

-Tiny diamond is, once again, part of the main supporting characters

Au shiz:

-If Viva IS put in, its going to most likely be during the sequel. Peppy is already going to be dragged through the mud, might have him mention something about a lost sibling near the end of the OG fic, and since the Pop trolls will be looking for a new home, maybe they'll run into her

-Branch's brothers will not be making an appearance. They simply dont fit into the narrative. I may do an alternate au with them included but who knows.

-Mildly considering making Tiny Diamond a Greek kid. (Guy x Creek) would make for some interesting angst.

How do you feel about that poppy/branch army au?

Wow, let me think...

Quite honestly, that wasn't one of the AUs I was more invested in. My favourites were the classic Human AU (with all the different designs and headcanons from each user), the Alien! Branch AU, a Hogwarts! AU (but instead of the human version the one where Poppy and Branch were still Trolls who'd arrived there and become real famous amongst everyone because of how much they meant to the other, despite Branch acting like he could be dangerous to Poppy), the ML! AU and, an old time favourite, the arranged marriage AU (huge shutout to @tipolover22 and her AMAZING fic "Betrothed"!!!💖💖💖💖).

Anyway, back to the question.

It was a cute concept, actually. Lots of Poppies means that she didn't actually need anybody else's help to save her friends, she had an entire army! I think they were also supposed to drive Branch nuts xD Which... makes sense. I mean, if he could barely put up with (1) Poppy, romantic feelings aside, imagine how he'd react with an entire army.

And for the Branch army AU... We kind of got that in the Wormhole episode from TTBGO. My shipper heart was expecting them to fight over Poppy, sigh... Sorry, hard-core Broppy shipper here. Regarding what was discussed about it back in the day, though, I think it would've actually been good for the trolls?

If Branch had had so much support he could've been able to protect the entire village with complex security systems and alarms, traps and shifts to patrol the perimeter while others collected provisions, and the like.

And, this is dedicated to my fellow Broppy lovers (such as you, @eva-93 ), yes, they would've totally fought over going with Poppy to Bergentown. Being the original Branch the one who got the honour (it was a close match, tho).

On a more comical note, I can imagine conversations like this:

*The Branch army working hard*

*Poppy walks by*

Poppy: Awesome job you're doing guys, keep it up!

Branch army: *answers vary from genuine responses to sarcastic remarks and even grunts*

*Poppy leaves them be*

Branch army: *collective lovesick sigh*

Original Branch: Hey, snap out of it!

Branch #34675: Oh, come on! Don't pretend you haven't done worse before we came.

Original Branch:... Shut up.

Oh, oh, oh! What about this?!

Poppy: Hiya, guys! I've got something for ya~!

Omg, totally agree with you OP.

For real, there isn't any rush and I like the DW is taking it slow for Broppy. I like to think they've learned this from working on the HTTYD franchise in the past, that there isn't any reason to rush character relationships or mash two characters together because it's the "norm" in kid's movies.

I know it's an unpopular opinion but it's kinda why I really enjoy that they didn't show a close up of the "Broppy kiss" at the end of the TWT movie. There is so much more to love and a meaningful relationship then getting that "finale kiss" at the end of the movie like every other flippin' kids movie has. That high five was amazing.

A kiss shouldn't define a relationship. Marriage and or children shouldn't either. Every relationship is different and each and every one is valid.

I think that's a better message overall to a younger audience... don't look for a prince/princesses to smooch to make your "dreams come true", look for a dear friend who you have a deep, with a wonderful connection to find true love and happiness. 💙

Am…am I the only one who doesn’t want Branch and Poppy to get married just yet or to have kids in a third movie? I don’t know, I feel like it’d be moving too fast. I love thinking of them as mutual pining dork friends like they’re been, and I love thinking of them when they’ve just gotten together and are kinda new at this, and I love thinking of them when they have been together for awhile, AND I love thinking of them as a married couple. I want, like, every stage of their relationship to last for a good long while so we can properly enjoy and just savor them all.

I hope Trollstopia has them be a couple and gives us plenty of that, and then MAYBE in the next movie (I do kinda hope there is a next movie though I have no idea what the premise would be) one could propose and they could get married, but, like, at this point they’ve apparently only JUST gotten together and I really REALLY don’t want to leap from that to marriage too fast, or even from marriage to kids too fast once marriage does happen.

I feel like the Trolls franchise probably WILL go down this slow route, seeing as the first movie gave us a Maybe Ever After and then we got 4 years of ship teasing and will-they-won’t-they with TTBGO before TWT finally made it canon. Evidently they don’t want to rush things too much either.

So like…yeah.
