with some time removed now i look back at our Riverdale time and just....what even. i've been in a few fandoms by now but that one really was extra bonkers.
I did chill me out on other fandom bullshit tho, i've seen it all and worse before.
seriously tho!
you can't survive the riverdale fandom and not come out like this at the end
really gives us some perspective when joining other fandoms, ha.
#besos!#bronwynn#rvd#just realized i wasn't following and i have always adored you i will fix my mistake

it also took me way too long to finally watch BCS, i kinda knew stuff from gifs and all but actually seeing how it ends for Kim and Jimmy....wow wow wow. now that is quality tv!
i always saw my twitter bubble complaining about Rhea not getting award attention and never got it. silly me!
(sorry friend this response is going to get so much longer than u probably intended lol)
i can't get over how floored i am by both how incredible this show is, and how it is so so far from the expectations i had when i started watching it. (which was only like...5-6 weeks ago? lol i am nothing if not obsessive)
i enjoyed breaking bad but it probably wouldn't even make my top 10 tv shows so i just never had much interest in BCS. never really paid any attention to what i saw on tumblr etc, i don't think i even realized that like, mike was a main character on the show? i knew there was a blonde woman, that was about it.
and then my SO & i decided to finally watch it and BOOM i went from being like aw they're cute but it's def not gonna end well! around s2 to THEY WOULD DIE FOR EACH OTHER AND SO WOULD I by the end of s5.
and like, it's not just that this is a really great show that happens to have a really great ship. jimmy & kim's relationship is the point of BCS. it's what ruins him, and it's what redeems him. their relationship is the crux of the entire story being told across two tv series and a movie. without kim, there is no saul goodman, and without saul goodman, there is no heisenberg. and kim did not even exist when they made breaking bad!!! (and i am coming back to edit this and say: this kind of makes it sound like kim is just there in service of jimmy's story, which is not AT ALL the case, and it's even more impressive because her character could have so easily functioned that way in the hands of lesser writers.)
and then you read interviews and stuff with the writers/actors/directors, and see bits of the actual script, and instead of being like ok ok that's not what they were trying to do, i'm just a hopeless romantic, whatever death of the author etc etc, it's like - oh my god i'm right! THEY WERE! INTENTIONALLY! DOING THAT!
finally: Rhea Seehorn is UNREAL, i'm retroactively FURIOUS that she's received so little awards attention, and if she loses the Emmy next month (to someone from The White Lotus, no less) i will personally start a riot in the streets
#bronwynn#if anyone who hasn't seen bcs yet actually bothered to read this: yes you should watch it but also yes you need to watch breaking bad first#which is quite a commitment. but worth it!!!!!!#better call saul

Whag do you think about Lord of The Rings: The rings of power?
Did you watched it? If not, why? If yes, why?
Oooh! A bit of a controversial question, but one that I am happy to finally be asked, so I can give my thoughts and opinions about it. Thank you for the Ask, @estethell!!
My Thoughts on "The Rings of Power"
When I heard a new Tolkien/Middle-earth series was coming out, I was super excited about it. I watched the first two episodes the very evening it came out on Amazon. My excitement was so contagious, I even got my husband (who wouldn't know an elf from a dwarf) to sit down and watch it with me for like 5 whole minutes.
Now, the truth: my initial excitement about the series quickly dropped about four episodes in. The storyline and characterizations just weren't really what I expected (actually, I'm not even sure what my expectations were, except that they were high), and so my interest dwindled in my disappointment.
However, a few weeks later, after all the episodes had been released, I sat back down to finish the series, and my impressions of it improved overall.
I wouldn't say I love Rings of Power, but there are enough things about it that I liked and enjoyed to be able to engage with others who do love it. It's kind of like the folks who didn't like The Hobbit movies, but are able to gush over Lee Pace's Thranduil anyway.
Stuff in Rings of Power that I liked:
Liked BEST: Young Elrond, and the way he was portrayed as such a wise and kind lord by Robert Aramayo (so handsomely elf-y!).
A Close Second: Durin IV and Disa. What a wonderful couple that brought just the right amount of comic relief.
The chance to see Khazad-dum in its glory.
Poppy Proudfellow. We all need a friend like her.
The music/soundtrack, ESPECIALLY the song "This Wandering Day" Poppy sang--I literally cried when she sang it.
Arondir. He was a such sweetheart and I hope he comes back next season.
Adar. The take on orcs being corrupted elves is one I embrace.
Elendil and Isildur. Excellent acting on Lloyd Owen's part, and I liked Maxim Baldry's earnestness.
Halbrand. I'll admit, I wasn't too impressed or happy with the revelation of him as Sauron, but the character alone as it stands was actually very good, and very well portrayed by Charlie Vickers.
Stuff I didn't like so much (so probably don't ask me about them 'cause I prefer not to dwell on critiques):
Short-haired elves. Just not a fan, purely a preference thing.
Galadriel being short. This is petty and minor, but for some reason, even though Morfydd Clark did a fine job, it bugged me to see Galadriel looking UP at mortal men.
Celebrimbor cast as an older man. So sorry, Charles Edwards is a lovely actor, but this was far from what I had in mind for the character.
Eärien. Normally I will give OCs a chance, but I did not like this one. Felt really unnecessary, and the screen time should have been given to Anárion, wherever he might be.
The poor armor design and nerfing of the Numenorean army.
Portrayal of the Gwaith-i-Mírdain. Again, I expected much more.
The origin story of mithril. Such a strange choice.
WAY, WAAAAAAY too much CGI. Why is everything so shiny??
Overall low/poor production value. But honestly, there is never gonna be another production like Peter Jackson's trilogy. It's sad, but filmmakers just don't do that anymore. I hope someone proves me wrong.
I remain conflicted about the following:
The Haladriel ship. I'm a Celeborn fan (I have some lovely HCs about him and his ties to Thranduil), and I ship Galadriel with him. However, the way Halbrand looks at Galadriel just does something to me, so even though I'm not sold, my mind is open to it as an AU. I blame Charlie Vickers being such a charming rogue.
The Elf-Human love story. Arondir and Bronwynn were sweet and convincing, and I did swoon for them, but... this is just so overdone already. Couldn't we have just featured other kinds of relationships?
The revised origin of Gandalf. I kind of get it, and I appreciate the relationship between him and the Hobbit progenitors... but it's kind of also weird.
Halbrand as Sauron. I plan on withholding judgement until I see where they are going with this in Season 2.
Overall Rating and Conclusion:
62% fresh SotWK Tomato Rating
I choose to just be HAPPY and GRATEFUL that we have another cinematic adaptation to the Tolkien fandom, however flawed it might be.
Definitely looking forward to Season 2 and I will definitely watch it.
Positive vibes ONLY, please! I am happy to publicly post and gush with others about the good points of RoP. But I will not have public bashing of things other fans might love and enjoy. I am very against crapping on the things others love, even if I might hate them myself.
If anyone wants to discuss the things I dislike about RoP, we can do it via DM or private Asks.
Everyone has a right to enjoy whatever they want in this show; let's just all respect each others' differences in tastes and opinions! <3

ooh for the ask game - the waiting room or the lady at the counter? :D
the waiting room is pretty easy to guess, but it's a little ficlet about how all the different kids would respond to the waiting room (from the books). I guess I just think about how this was a torture device a whole school of children associated with fear, and I wanted to explore how that fear would manifest with different kids!
it includes a scene where Kate builds mud castles while stubbornly repeating to herself that she's fine, she's fine, she's fiiiiiiine
the lady at the counter is actually inspired by this librarian post that i read recently (here it is!). It was about all these tiny kids approaching the librarian and asking for these ridiculously thick books. I was reading it and just thinking about Reynie and Sticky in particular.
So it's a series of moments with a librarian, currently with Reynie approaching the counter and asking for more and more obscure books, and the woman's observations each time. Think the beginning of the Matilda movie, but from the librarian's perspective. It's gonna end with the kids coming in all together <3
Here's a little rough excerpt:
"Excuse me, do you have An Introduction to Modern Stellar Astrophysics?" Bronwyn looks up, at first, and then directs her gaze downwards until it alights upon a little face just barely peeking above the counter. She glances up again, trying to find a parent or guardian, or a tired looking college student in need of textbooks. Goodness knows she's seen her fair few these past couple of days. No one else is there. "It's by Bradley Carroll & Dale Ostlie," the voice says again, and two big brown eyes blink. "Let me check out catalogue," she says, working more on instinct than anything else. With deft fingers, she flips through to section 520 in their great big binder of categories and traces the lines in search of the requested title. Absentmindedly, she notes that her nail polish is chipped. She finds it halfway down the third page, and lets loose a pleased hum. With a sigh, she rises to her feet and takes one last glance around the room to spot any sort of adult supervision and finds none. Maybe the boy lives nearby. Maybe he's old enough to take the bus by himself, and just appears small. Bronwyn certainly hopes so. Either way, she doesn't necessarily trust him to wander through their labyrinth of bookshelves and remain unlost all by himself, and Lewis is off doing read aloud, so it's up to her to be the boy's guide. "Follow me," she calls after herself, and takes a sharp right to head to the back end of the library. Bronwyn tries to keep it discreet when she examines the small average looking boy trotting contentedly along beside her as she leads the way through the stacks of books, but she's not ure she succeeds. She's not sure if she succeeds in guessing his age, either, especially because she's rather terrible with guessing ages to begin with. If she had to put out a number, she guesses he might be somewhere around the eight to ten range. She's got a niece somewhere around there, and they look rather similar in overall height. "What do you like most about your cat?" the boy asks, seemingly out of the blue, and Bronwynn blinks, stopping to stare at him. There have been times, of course, where she's discussed Puddles with kids visiting the library, but she's got a way with faces and she's quite sure this boy was never one of them. A flush rises up on his cheeks, and he quickly gestures to her blouse. His hand is very small. "You have some fur on your shirt. I'm trying to convince Mr. Rutger to purchase a cat for the Stonetown Orphanage. He said he would consider it if I wrote a three page persuasive essay presenting my argument. I was wondering if you had any insights." "Ah," Bronwyn says, and clears her throat. "Of course." She says it like she knows what she's talking about. She doesn't.
thanks for the ask <3

about the bcs, the whole season you expect them to fall apart and then boom, lets get married! amazing. isn't Rhea Seehorn just the best?!
Oh my god I'm OBSESSED with Rhea Seehorn. I want to watch her in everything. And I learned that she got her start in the theater scene in my city!
I already knew they would make it through the season together and get married, because I've been reading fic and people would off-handedly mention it in the comments lol whoops. But it's still so satisfying to watch, because they really let Kim be her own person in relation to Jimmy and not the "disapproving girlfriend" that she would be on basically any other show. Her choices are surprising but they always feel right. (Which is not always the case for, say, Mike.) And their dynamic is so weird and fascinating and shifting all the time...I am SO into it. I really wish I'd watched this show when it aired, it would have been so much fun to discuss episode by episode.

Okay I'm really not the greatest artist of all time but I have drawn my DND character Bronwynn.
She's a tiefling paladin, she's dead but not really (plot of the campaign)
It's a bit shit but it's the first time I've drawn something that's not a landscape
