✨ilsabard contingent appreciation post✨

why do we not talk about the ilsabard contingent more!!! absolutely the steppe trio is great, bard boys are great, emmsic is great, it's delightful to see all these beloved characters and job npcs, but today i want to talk about two specific dynamics not discussed enough visible in just the first cutscene of the contingent and arrival at broken glass

i completely missed this the first time i got here because there was so much to be excited by, but on my second playthrough i have been just so delighted to see them interacting

here's sicard randomly shadowboxing broenbhar and doing push ups in the middle of the room surrounded by strangers before he is personally introduced

he is literally hiding behind steph before and after his twinkle toed gentleman of light moment. my brother in halone you are a tank, steph's tits will not protect you

also ive hit the post photo limit but steph is smiling in the background when emmanellain has his moment :> they spend so much of the time in the contingent hanging out working on the heaters! they grew up across ths street from each other! they probably aren't as close as they are with some of the others, but i know in my heart that emmanellain looks up to steph as someone who is so unashamed to be himself regardless of what their social circles think of them

looking at these, i am just. imagining them getting into hijinks when they were younger, and steph would hide emm and take the blame when they got caught. thinking about steph fostering emmanellain's openness and cheerfulness when haurchefant moved to dragonhead and ishgard froze over and house fortemps was just so cold and quiet

Entry 2: The Marauders Guild

Seeing my axe, Baderon pointed me towards the marauders guild. He figured even if I knew a thing or two about how to use one, perhaps the Marauders of Limsa Lominsa could teach me a thing or two - or at the very least I could find some work. The Marauder's Guild is lead by Axemaster Wyrnzoen - and he immediately set me off to 'hone the edge of my weapon.' I did some local pest control in La Noscea before being sent out again to break rocks with my axe. I evidently impressed the marauders, because upon returning to the guild I was assigned to an urgent request from the Red Rooster Stead. I was sent with the assistance of a conjurer by the name of Solkwyb who let me know what to expect going in. Murderous megalocrabs were in need of slaying, and I was the axe wielding adventurer to do it. We weren't more than a handful of crabs into our duty when a desperate old man by the name of Neddard pleaded for us to aide his grandson Sighard.

We were thankfully able to make it in time to save the boy, and while he seemed grateful he immediately sought our aide in avenging his parents who had been slain by another fearsome monster.

Axemaster Wyrnzoen agreed to help me find the beast, known as Kujata, but first wanted to be sure I was prepared. Unfortunately while I was once again breaking rocks (these Marauders certainly enjoy breaking rocks, are they sure they didn't miss their calling as miners?) the boy Sighard ran off to seek vengeance on his own.

Thankfully the boy was mostly unharmed, though Solkwyb and I were nearly too late to save the boy from a pack of hungry jackals. I'm glad I was able to save the boy, I don't know what I'd have done if I'd been a moment slower.

Wyrnzoen then gave me a final test - one that resulted in me crossing axes with an extremely familliar set of masked men, who definitely were not the rest of the marauders guild. Regardless, Wyrnzoen and the rest of the guild were now behind me and it was time I brought an end to Kujata's reign of terror in La Noscea, before more children like Sighard lost their parents.

And what a fight the beast put up, I've never fought anything so massive in my life. Each step it took seemed to shake the earth beneath me, and a single misstep would have sent me to the next life.

Thankfully I had the help of my fellow marauder Broenbhar as well as the conjurer Sokwyb - and together we were able to bring an end to Kujata's rampage.

Sighard and his grandfather thanked me, and Sighard even asked if I thought he could ever wield an axe as a marauder so he could protect others one day. Wyrnzoen encouraged the boy and I agreed with him. One day the boy could perhaps stop a tragedy like the one that befell his parents from repeating itself. Howeever, this would mark my end of duties to the Marauders guild. Wyrnzoen doesn't think he has anything more he can teach me, and that I should instead return to the adventurers guild and test my axe against greater foes.

Roevember Catchup!

Fell behind on putting my Roevember prompts here so I'm gonna collect them together for one post. Twitter taking down the ability to make moments is pushing me to post more here (at least all the sfw stuff)

A lot of these focused more on Bera's relationships with people and places, Broenbhar at the Marauder's guild, helping out in Idylshire, trying to understand Hermes and his dance skills from practicing with Nashimera.

The final day I did a nice group shot for together, celebrating my roe finally getting to relax with the scions and his friends.

//. while wyrnzoen was more or less a father figure to rham’ir, broenbhar and solkwyb were definitely his older siblings. due to his fear and mistrust of lominsan folk, however, rham’ir found it difficult to get close to them despite their attempts at helping him and acting as a surrogate family for him. familiarity with other miqo’te is ultimately what allows rham’ir to eventually begin to trust and grow close with h’nhamu tia, who readily volunteered to help break the young miqo’te out of his shell.
