I usually don’t fall for boys like this. But something about him was so charming.

The show starts, a woman with a beard introducing the show. I nervously wait through the show, watching the acts from some pinheads, an illustrated seal boy, a tall woman, a super short woman, and a few others.

Right near the end, Lobster Boy was introduced.

He walked out on stage, dressed in a dark red button-down that was tucked into his jeans. His hair was perfectly in place and he had a charming smile on his lips.

“I-I wanted to see your show. You were good,” I excuse, heat rising to my face as he smiles. “Thanks, doll,” he says, the nickname causing my brain to shut down for a moment. My mind flashes back to that day when we met and how good he was at what he did.

His eyes stay on me for a moment, the silence around us slightly uncomfortable. For me, at least.

“I’m glad you came to the show. Pretty girls like you usually scare off easy,” he comments, causing my eyes to move back up and meet his. I bite my lip at the compliment, my hands fixing my skirt.

“I have a husband, you know,” I say. Jimmy cocks his eyebrow, listening to my words with intrigue. “I have a husband and when I’m in bed with him, I think about you,”

He tries to hide the clearly pleased look on his face by pressing his lips together. “I know we only met once, but… I haven’t felt that same thrill I felt with you in years. Not since high school. That makes it hard to let you go,”

“Not the type of gal for one-night stands, huh?” he teasingly comments.

I scoff, crossing my arms as I look off into the dark distance. “I’m just saying that… maybe it was a mistake. All of it,”

“A mistake?” Jimmy repeats.

I just nod, his heavy gaze on me making me feel like he was offended by the words. “If my husband finds out I was even here, I’d be in deep trouble, Jimmy,” I try to reason with him, my heart beating loudly.

“I like the way you say my name,” he changes the topic, making me rub my forehead in distress. “Say it again,”

“Jimmy…” I trail off, suddenly being pulled into his arms. Our chests were flush against each other’s, his hand wrapped around my waist while the other delicate pushed some hair from my face.

“Let me kiss you and if you feel nothin’, you can forget me forever, dolly. Got it?” he proposes. My breath hitches in my throat, suddenly overly aware of how close our lips already were. I place my hand on his chest, not even trying to protest our closeness.

Nodding weakly, Jimmy smirks before leaning down and closing the gap between us. 

His lips were soft and sweet, allowing me to savor the passionate kiss. I allow myself to sink into his touch, my mind floating off into cloud nine as I kiss him back.

Our lips work together as if we’ve been kissing for years. His hand snakes up my back, toying innocently with the zipper to my dress. I pull back first, my eyes fluttering open and meeting his eyes that already studied my frazzled expression.

The kiss was electric in the most cliched way. I felt more alive than I ever could if I were to kiss my husband. And that was the problem.

“I have a life. I have a husband and boring housewives back home where we talk about tupperware and the latest scandals in the neighborhood. I can’t do this,” I confess, a frown on my lips.

“It seems like you don’t even like your own life,” Jimmy replies in a soft voice, our faces still just inches apart. I shrug weakly, not wanting him to let me go and especially not wanting to go home. 

“It’s all I have,”

“It seems like neither of us like our lives,” Jimmy says.

I look up at him with wide, questioning eyes. “What?” I ask. He runs his hand down my arm, his eyes downcast from mine as he thinks about something. “Let’s leave Jupiter, Y/n,” he suggests.

I feel my heart pause as his words hit me like bricks. “Leave leave? Like, away from our lives?” I repeat in a state of shock. He just nods, a small smile crossing his lips. “Tampa. Hell, maybe even out of the state. Let’s just go,” 

“Louisiana?” I ask him, feeling my heart leap as the idea sounds like sweet release. “We can go to Louisiana if you’d like. Anything for you,” he agrees.

“We barely know each other,” I say with a soft chuckle. 

“So? There’s something here, Y/n. I can’t lose somebody else,” he says, his hands holding my hips. My entire life relied on my next answer. Whatever I say next is my future.
