Brian O'Dwyer
youtube
Brian O'Dwyer(ブライアン・オドワイヤー)ね、大事なので2回言いましたよ。

This is such an amazing, peaceful, Celtic piece - Oceanus (the first song in the album - if the post shows song #2, please go back to song #1). I find the drums quite noteworthy...
I will listen to the remaining album someday (starting now...)
Album Write up (from Bandcamp):
The Celtic navigator's great journey inspires this recording featuring material reworked and remixed from "Navigatio" combined with brand new material. Introduction by Stephen Lawhead – The great saints of the early Celtic church - Patrick, Columba, Samson, Aidan, And Brendan - were great travelers as well. In an age when most men rarely journeyed more than a few miles from hearth and home, they roamed the world ' often with little more than the cloaks on their backs, and the sandals on their feet. For the Celtic saints, each outward journey was also a journey inward. They wandered as pilgrims for the good of their souls, and each new discovery was seen as a discovery of the hidden territory of their own inner hearts. But, as much as they liked to travel, they loved returning even more. It was been said the Celts often left home just so they could enjoy the home-coming. Indeed, a man like St. Brendan would have relished one of the Celtic world's rare and special pleasures; to see one's homeland again, and know if for the first time. Much has been written about "The Voyage of St. Brendan (Navigatio Sancti Abbatis)". The story of the intrepid Navigator's fantastic voyage with a handful of monks to the Land of Promise is one of the great tales in the Celtic literary cannon. Like we often do with stories about people from the past, I initially viewed Brendan from afar. Much like one viewing a passing ship from the shoreline with a pair of binoculars, I saw Brendan but I did not know him. But here, in this music, I have attempted to sit with him inside his boat upon the great open sea – Oceanus. While drifting along the world's edge, the Brendan that I met wrestles with many of the same things with which I struggle. His eyes seek and long for something good, beautiful and true yet seldom does he get more than a glimpse of these. His mind dreams and hopes but his heart more often fears and despairs. He often finds himself alone - not because he does not have friends - but because he pursues the path of faith which ultimately one must follow on their own. He wonders if he has enough faith to continue down the path which he follows ... He does not. Yet, always he prays and the King of Love's good grace sustains him. This is what makes Brendan a true saint and, for me, is the inspiration for this music. – Jeff Johnson

This piece was really interesting to make and I did learn alot about teamwork and understanding everyone's take on the same piece, and working together. I did alot of pre- production, such as doing all the Storyboarding, and planning the shot lists and scenes and numbering which scenes a character had. I also did the makeup for my own character and for Robyn's character Allison - and sourced the outfits. I also acted as Claire in the piece, which was interesting being behind and in front of the camera. It was great, it felt like I learnt from both ends on how to direct an actor and how to be directed as an actor. Overall, it was a great experience!

The Boston Globe - January 20, 1975
A toast to Grace and Celtic cuIture
By Rachelle Patterson
Globe Staff
NEW YORK - The charming and beautiful Princess Grace of Monaco, who has become a symbol of Irish-American culture, attracted 500 persons to the Pierre Hotel here Saturday night in an attempt to stimulate nationwide interest in the Celtic heritage.
That cultural endeavor and socializing still endure despite the nation's economic slump was evident when each guest, paying $125 a ticket, turned up at the elegant hotel.
Although the first national awards dinner of the 12-year-old Irish American Cultural Institute honoring Irish-American philanthropists Patrick and Aimee Butler attracted the large gathering to New York, it was clear that many came from as far away as Texas and Toronto just to shake the hand of the Princess.
"It was the institute's motto - 'Not Ancestor Worship But Filial Gratitude' - that attracted me to the institute and its goals," she later said.
Princess Grace is the international chairwoman of the Irish American Cultural Institute. Honorary national chairman is Sean MacBride, recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1974.
"We are primarily cultural, not political, religious or fraternal," noted Dr. Erin McKiernan, president of the institute, based in St. Paul, Minn.
"The Institute's goals are to promote the study of Irish civilization, spotlight the many valuable contributions of Ireland's sons and daughters to the world, and act as patron for Irish music, theater, art, literature and scholarship."
And so it was the lofty goal of going beyond the Irish ditty and occasional wearing of the green, and into the 5000-year history of the Celtic culture and its relationship to America that brought Princess Grace to New York Saturday night.
The Bunratty Castle singers and harpist Deirdre O'Callaghan were flown over from Ireland for the event. Irish artist Brian Ferran designed the institute's medallion, which was awarded to the Butlers, who are well-known for their philanthropies in the United States, particularly in alcoholism rehabilitation and for the support of Irish cultural projects. The New York Gaelic pipes and drums provided the traditional marching sound.
Chatting over cocktails in the Yellow Bird room before dinner with actress Rita Gam, long-time friend of Princess Grace and bridesmaid at her wedding to Prince Rainier (who talked about her children attending schools in Weston and Concord, Mass.) and financier Angier Biddle Duke who appeared excited about his job as director of civic affairs for New York city.
Also present were actor Richard Harris, who was born in Limerick, N.J., Gov. Brendan P. Byrne and Mrs. Byrne; Rev. Thomas J. Drury, bishop of Corpus Christi, Texas; Irish Ambassador John Molloy, Charles Grace of the Grace Co., Monsignor Terrance J. Murphy, Eamonn Kennedy, permanant ambassador from Ireland to the United Nations and Mrs. Kennedy, and Paul O'Dwyer, president of the New York City Council and Mrs. O'Dwyer.
According to Gerald F. O'Leary, president of the Boston City Council, who is heading a New England chapter of the institute, "many New Englanders can trace their Irish origins; most, we hope, do so with great pride. The institute is designed to bring together all aspects of the Irish heritage and to focus on it in one unified effort."
O'Leary and David Burke of Lawrence, editor of the Hibernian Digest, led a large contingent of New Englanders for the event, which included former U.S. Congressman Paul Cronin of Andover and Mrs. Cronin, Mrs. Gerald O'Leary of Boston, Mrs. David Burke of Lawrence, Margaret O'Connor of Lawrence, Mrs. Jacqualine O'Reilly of Foxboro, president of the Boston Ballet Society and chairman of the Special Legislative Commission on the Arts, and her daughter, Ellen.
Also, Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Burke of Boston, Mr. and Mrs. John McCarthy of Springfield, Dr. Morris Fitzgerald of Sudbury, Val McCann and Mrs. McCann of Ogunquit, Maine, Mr. Edward Duggan of Newport, R.I., national director of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, and Mrs. Duggan, Sean Walsh of Washington, D.C., formerly of Arlington, Ms. Margaret Canty of Jamaica Plain and Ms. Margaret Pelletier of Jamaica Plain.

Day 1: Joining the Choppa team
I chose to take up a Choppa internship unlike many of my classmates in the BA Pop Performance course. This is because I wanted to gain experience working behind the scenes and had an interest in learning more about electronic music. The Choppa event is handled by the majority of the students in the EM course. This annual event features both local and foreign abstract music. It features our school lecturers and alumnus such as Natalie, Timothy O'Dwyer, Brian , Yuhang etc.
A month before the event, I joined the Choppa AY22 electronic music broadcast group chat and was added to it. The majority of the information will be shared and our individual duties given via the group chat. I've heard from the seniors that this event requires a lot of preparation in a short amount of time and that I must constantly be on call.
In addition, the opportunity to learn from people who work behind the performance stage is a welcome change. This is in contrast to what I am doing now as a pop singer, where I always appear on the front stage. This is my first time working with EM students and I am very excited to be able to meet new people and learn more about electronic music. Hopefully, I am able to make some new connections. I believe that since we will work and collaborate with a variety of professionals in the music industry, making solid connections is crucial, both within my own course and with other courses. This is something I hope to accomplish in this internship as well. I'm looking forward to what lies ahead and am hope to learn things that will help me step beyond
