Or a good person. She was nothing. But here, in this cold industrial bathroom, she was getting there. Every slip up could be reversed with a simple finger. Soon. Soon Chloe would be enough. Five years. Five long, long years since the last time Alexander Gaskarth saw Chloe Danske. He hasn’t heard anything from her. Of course Zack talks to her, but Alex doesn’t ask to know where she is or what she’s doing. He knows Jack and Rian gleam little nuggets of information from Zack, but whatever they learn is never shared with Alex. He wants absolutely nothing to do with her. After all, she left him. And Alex hates her for it more and more every day. Wide awake, my mistake, so predictable. Alex should have seen the signs. Chloe had never been able to love. Not really. Alex thought he could fix her, but she was too broken to be repaired. She had been so convincing though. Every touch, every moment spent together had seemed perfect. Chloe had made Alex think that he could save her. But no one could save her. You were fake, I was great. Really, Alex had been as perfect as he could for her. Sure, they had their fights and Chloe had never truly gotten over most of her issues, but he had done everything he could. And he had loved her. Isn’t that all that really mattered? He loved her, really fucking loved her. But it wasn’t enough. And Alex was left with her last words running through his head at almost every moment of every day. Nothing personal. Except it was personal. It was all about Alex. Chloe didn’t love him. He never figured out why, but obviously it was his fault. Why else would she leave him the way she had? But Alex was over the sadness. All he felt now was anger. Anger at Chloe and everything she had done to him. And he was done. A pretty face but the chase ain’t worth the prize. Chloe Danske had left Baltimore five years ago. She had left behind her life there, obliterated it from her memory. Well, most of it. She could never forget Zack of course. And unfortunately she could never forget Alex either. But she had moved on. She was better now, actually better. In a way she had never been with Alex. And she would forget him eventually just the way he would forget her as well. Give it up, this was never meant to be more than a memory for you. But Alex could never forget about Chloe. She consumed his thoughts. Sure, Lisa had taken him back and he was happy, at least as happy as he could be. Chloe still haunted his dreams. What makes it worse is the fact that he could actually know what’s going on in her life. He could try and talk to her. But he doesn’t. Because all he can think about is how she left him. I’m gonna break your little heart, watch you take the fall, laughing all the way to the hospital. It had to have been a joke to her. They couldn’t have spent nearly five months together and not had some kind of connection. Fucking hell, Chloe had been the only girl that Alex had actually tried with. He hadn’t pushed her or fucked her over or treated her like trash. He treated her like a goddamn princess! And after all of that, Chloe had vanished, leaving nothing behind except a completely destroyed Alex. And now he was out for blood. Cause there’s nothing surgery can do, when I break your little heart in two. She really did break him after all.
