Ngl, one of my pet peeves with Arcane fics is when they make Jayce in like a modern setting not engineer and math smart because like. THATS WHAT HE IS? do you guys think all those equations showed up magically when Viktor appeared.
#counter argument: “but jayce wouldn't have any motivation to go in that field if he didn't meet the mage”#counter argument to that counter argument: LoL Jayce doesnt have any mention of meeting a mage and yet he was still smart asf#he literally complains that no one can match his intellect until viktor comes along#breaking news: yes jayce is smart#emotion-wise? perhaps not entirely but neither is viktor. i mean have you SEEN their LoL counterparts#arcane lol#jayce talis#jayce giopara#mini rant#fanfic pet peeves#jayce arcane

viktor x lab partner! reader (headcanons + tiny scenarios)
summary: working with viktor and jayce is all fun until you start wishing your lab partner was well.. your partner.
content warning: minor spoilers about season 1, arc 2 and fluff!!
author notes: im sorry for the waiting!! life has been chaotic and im pretty busy doing things but i've managed to finally write down this adorable request yeey! hope you like it :D
» working with the hextech genius and piltover’s golden boy surely wasn't an easy job. high expectations, sleepless nights, doing experiments and calculations all day...
» at first, it was difficult to blend in as part of the group. jayce and viktor had been good friends for a long time now, and being added as a scientist alongside them in their own lab seemed like something experimental, almost incorrect.
» but things soon started to fall into place. and just like two plus one is equal to three, in the late hours was the time you all could be more free, more like your true selves. maybe it was the sleep deprivation, but it finally felt like there was a little place for you after all.
» whenever you needed to breathe a bit of fresh air and they were too focused on some research, you would go out and get them lunch on your way back. when you return to the lab, jayce would welcome you with a side hug and such a big smile that it could possibly blind you, while viktor would thank you with a little nod and a ghost of a smile on his lips.
» on these lunch breaks, it was common for you to talk about anything and everything that came to your minds at the moment. the hextec, politics and the council, how chaotic or abnormally normal life has been, literally whatever.
“i swear, i can't stand councilor hoskel anymore! why does he never listen to me but when mel says the same thing, then he is all ears?” jayce said while running fingers through his hair, smothering the mess to it place again.
“maybe because you can't verbalize things as good as her?” viktor suggested, tilting his head to the side, taking a bite of the cookies you've got for them earlier. “eeh, i mean, she works at the council for quite a time, right? you're still new to it.”
it was true, of course, but there was one thing they didn't consider yet. “or maybe you just ain't a woman!”
“surely a smart remark, i must say.”
“NO!”
» of course there were times where you could be more relaxed, but almost everyday was the same: calculation, experiment, malfunction and all again. it was frustrating, but worth it. after all the failed prototypes and explosions (so many explosions), now it is finally working.
» also, going on all nighters is a common occurrence (but jayce can't work through the night, because in the day time he needs to attend on the council and can't be late, so the boy needs to sleep early) and when this happens, you often go get you and viktor a mug full of coffee and then continue working on whatever you've been up to.
» oh, and the hexcore. magic and science at once. runes and mathematics all together, the almost impossible and so ethereal dream.
» to be able to study it this close was one of the best things that happened to you, to see, understand and manipulate hextech was incredible. the soft blue light it casted on the lab walls was beautiful, but to see it shine against viktor's skin was a delightful sight.
» his disheveled hair, dark circles, cheek bones. all of the shadows in the right places. the shining amber eyes, his nose and, oh, janna, his mole, the one just above his lip. it drives you insane. like it was luring you into locking your lips on his.
“why are you looking?” he asked, still focusing on the source of the light in front of him, molding its runes, the core moving along it. “studying?”
“yes, yes!” your tone more high pitched than you intended to. shit. “just studying the... hexcore.” you tried to remain your voice at a normal level again, inhaling and exhaling to calm down.
pulling his goggles up, he let his head fall back, laughing, “i'm just messing with you,” he looked at you from between half closed lashes, smirking, “good to know you like to study this.”
» the stealing glances, the absolutely profissional soft touches, the desire for something more, something you couldn't quite have. godness, if you could use hextech to solve your love equation, you would. maybe it would be easier to focus on work with a little magic.
» but it was so hard to focus while he kept looking at you like this, calling your name so sweetly, brushing his fingers on yours whenever you handed him something. you were head over heels for him but why does it seemed so hard to just tell him how you felt?
» again, this love equation was a confusing one, but you wished that the cup of sweet milk you left alongside a little sticky-note saying “you + me = date?” for him to find on his workplace was enough to be called a confession.
» now, you were almost ready to head home, but first you needed to look for jayce and update him about the research you've been working on lately.
» and after doing so, you headed towards the academy's lockers, unlocking yours, sending the same sticky-note you left on the lab flying to the pale ground. when you picked it up, you noticed some words written just below yours. “this is an easy one! the answer is yes. so... at the coffee shop near the academy, at 4pm? – v.”

the mischaracterizations of both Viktor and Jayce are killing me because:
They are both fucking nerds/geeks like those two believed in magic not only when it was banned and could get them exiled but also when 90% of the world didn't like. they were absolute geeks. canonically they spend 75% of their time together, and the other 25% is either them alone, Jayce with Mel/the Council, and Viktor with Sky (sort of) or talking to Singed.
Jayce is definitely as introverted/lonely as Viktor. He had no friends besides Caitlyn in S1A1 and only gained MAYBE 2 more after Viktor. He did not have a partner nor trusted anyone with what he was working on. No one else came to his defense at the trial. Boy was a loner, not a popular academy student with tons of friends.
VIKTOR IS GOOFY. Look at his face when Jayce asks him if he thinks their plans in act 1 will work! He's like "Crank it!" after seeing Jayce use it. He tries to use a bedroom lie when he gets caught breaking in. He steals keys TO break in just cause. He's excited explaining new creations to Jayce. He's excited (at first) when Jayce gives the speech!
Jayce is smart!!!!! Like yes he is very much a himbo in the sense of his energy, but he's not the "dumb one" of his and Viktor's pair, they're equals. just rewatch how he explains the arcane/hexcore/hextech to Ekko, or the whole scene in general. he keeps notes on Viktor while he's in the hexcore despite never having any prior experience with anything like it before. They understand each other easily. the braincell they share has an IQ of like 1000.
Viktor not only wears all his emotions on his face (in fact, he is very emotional) he also doesn't shy away from touch! His reciprocation is allowing the touch from Jayce (hands on back, shoulders, sides, hugs) because he also likes it! and he's not afraid TO show emotion! (that's why the whole machine herald thing was so intense, he went from having ALL the emotions to like 1 or 2 traumatically).
Viktor admires Jayce as much as the reverse: it's why he's mad/annoyed at him during the politics era: he knows the real Jayce, and not "his Jayce" but the real Jayce who is a scientist who wants to help people. It's why he's so open with him, why he's so betrayed and leaves when Jayce uses the hexcore on him, because his heart was broken. because the Jayce he knows is incredibly intelligent and focused and wants to actually help people.
JAYCE IS SELFISH. THEY BOTH ARE. From day one these assholes are only thinking about each other, they have each other on the top of their respective lists, but they don't know it. Viktor almost dooms an entire universe out of a selfish perspective to "cure" the world (forgetting choice is the upmost important thing) and after he got rejected from the one person he loved.
Jayce has always put Viktor first, even despite Viktor's wishes (the hexcore) and from the end of S2A2 on, his only main priority is Viktor, it just so happens saving Viktor also saves the world. this asshole tells Viktor in front of the whole hivemind that magic (which did improve everyone's lives basically until it got corrupted) wasn't worth it because he loses Viktor. because any other writing would have had Jayce be like "im letting him go to save the world" and Jayce is "I'll never let him go, even if it dooms the world".
#like hello Viktor is snarky but he isnt MEAN#like hes so soft listen back when on the bridge hes like “what difference does that make” his voice is so soft#hes like wait what would Jayce be so upset about???#ugh that scene#and then a minute after slapping Jayces hand away he again allows the touch because he knows Jayce didnt mean it#jayce is also kind of an asshole lmao like they both are#not in a super mean way but those two really one care about each other and the world as a whole#theres no middle ground#arcane#jayce talis#viktor arcane

I love Vis and Jayces dynamic. I love that people are correct in saying together they are not just a net 0, but actively making things worse and I love that for them.
Consider though, in a modern day au where Powder and Vi are alive and grown, they would have such a funny dynamic. Powder is smart yes but my god she'd throw every brain cell out the window to get into some shit with Vi just to have fun with her sister. "Exactlyyyyyy" original was Jayce and Vi but brother the new and improved version of the sisters would be fucking hilarious.
They would be so funny together 😭 I think in the right scenario they would jack a car together and they would only encourage each other. Vi would Not let Powder drive but Powder would have to break in and hot wire the car. The thought and potential of them living a happy and healthy life together is too great. College pranks, car shenanigans, bailing Vi out of jail because you know damn well she's not letting that get put on Powders record.
Powder in the au in episode 7 didn't strike me as a particularly daring individual and honestly as a kid even growing up in Zaun seemed noticeably more peaceful. She wasn't drawn to conflict and actively sought different means of resolving problems. The only reason she had bombs and was moving in that direction was because of her environment.
All that being said I'm thinking if she would get into graffiti shenanigans but I'm not committed to that yet. The thought is fun though, and running away with Vi from the cops over roofs and through alley ways. What activities would a mentally supported, happy and relatively carefree Powder get up to? Obviously inventing and art but what else?
The invention thing could definitely lead to some shit for sure actually, that's a whole can I haven't opened yet. Sigh, picturing happier thoughts. If you guys have any please feel free to share I love. Talking and thinking about happier versions and it's well within our rights since they opened the multiverse pandoras box.
#words#it cracks me up thinking of them#in any other scenario than a tragedy#the potential for the dumbest shit imaginable between the two of them#My God#i still think#she has mental illness but as a supported individual with the right tools#and people to help her stay up right and functional and happy#arcane#jinx#powder#vi

assuming that vik has his little girl and actually gets sick either it be fro the core or of the fumes in zaun it doesn't really matter what does matter is his daughter's reaction and how reader's lumen reacts to a very sad and most likely constantly crying/whining toddler who is being ripped from her father-daughter time.
anon: what would happen if viktor got sick even though doc reader is like a hawk? how would the munchkin react to her dad collapsing and not being allowed to see or lay on his chest like usual?
don’t know what a lumen is? check here for all info!!!
we gonna do this headcannon/story style because damn my heart can’t take writing a real drabble or going into a description of his sad little baby so this is as much as i can do. i cant with this rn 😭💔
when you get the message from jayce that viktor was found collapsed in the lab, you realize with a start that viktor’s lumen is nowhere to be found. it a rush of finding him back in your bed where you had been sleeping, pocketing him in his weak state and grabbing extra clothes and snacks and waking your baby girl up bc it’s late and you’re not letting anyone take care of her when vik is going to need all the “healing kisses” he can get from his little princess
you would have known his condition was worsening, both from being a doctor and having his lumen constantly too weak to float. you likely would have gotten into arguments over it because he refuses to sit back and rest. but you don’t have the heart to keep him from his passion and he always comes back to you and your child because as much as he doesn’t want to show you two how bad it’s getting, wants to stay hidden in his lab and away from the realization that every kiss he gets from his beautiful family might be the last—
needless to say, when he wakes up with jayce to tell him the bad news, it’s a choice of figuring out how the hell to fix this or being with his family for whatever time he has left. he knows his answer with your lumen tucked up under his ear.
when the door opens and his little girl flies in and jumps onto the bed (still not quite tall enough to get up without some help), he has to keep from laughing lest he irritate his lungs.
“help me!” she whines up at her ‘uncle’ jayce. “papa needs his healing kisses!”
“yes he does!” jayce breathes, plucking her up. “stay off his chest though, alright? you’re getting too heavy.” he pretends to struggle as he sets her down next to viktor’s side.
“no i’m not!” she gasps, hands on her hips. she quickly forgets what’s she pouting about once vik’s weak hand comes up to tuck her wild hair behind an ear. “papa! i have all the healing kisses!”
he chuckles, lifting an arm to let her snuggle into his side. she is extra careful after jayce’s comment, much too bright for her age and much too cautious around her father. he hates it. he hates that he has to hide his wince as she kisses his cheek, turning away to cough and cutting off her smooch session.
the sight of her worried face she turns to look at you hovering in the doorway nearly has you breaking down right there.
jayce gives you a hug, whispering a few words before you close your eyes and bury your face into his neck letting him hold you as you fight back the tears.
all he said was “i’m sorry” but you knew what that meant. you know what that entails.
pulling it together, you wish him a good night and thank him for finding viktor and getting him to safety. you’re still hovering by the door as he leaves, watching viktor hold his daughter as she settles down. her kisses have ended, a tension in the air as she holds him close and stares at the wall. you know she’s too smart for her own good.
viktor beckons you with the arm that isn’t wrapped around your baby girl, a grin on his pale lips. “there is always room for you, my star.”
you let the tears fall quietly, walking to the chair by the bed to rest your head above his shoulder, right where you lumen floats away to find his in your pocket and bleed all the love you can into it. viktor rests his cheek on you. you clutch his cold hand tightly.
“it’ll be alright,” he whispers. “i’ll find a way.”
“we’ll find a way,” you sniff, swallowing a whimper as you kiss his shoulder.
“you’re not gonna leave, papa?” your little angel sniffs, curling deeper into his side. “right?”
“who could ever leave you behind, my miracle?” he strokes her head gently as she cries herself to sleep, kissing your head as he feels your tears wet his hospital gown. “who could leave either of you behind?”

No One Touches Silco's Pet
Chapter 5
Slico x TransMasc!Reader
Viktor x TransMasc!Reader
Warning: The first chapter is mild and only gets more NSFW in the future. (Must be 18+)
(I read somewhere that in the world of arcane they considered being gay as normal. So I wanted to write a story in which being trans is just as normalized.)
Synopsis: Reader serves Silco in anyway he demands but after seeing what he is capable of the reader considers a different life, meeting Viktor in the process.
Sorry I didn't not get a chance to proof read this chapter.
Was he serious about wanting to work with you? You could never imagine the day after wanting to end it all that you would be given a new shot at life. What new possibilities did this opportunity hold.
But what did Viktor want from you? It's obvious that you could be of use to him but at what price. You decided to give it a try. It's not like you could go back to your old life.
"I'd like to take you up on your offer"
Both boys looked up from what they were working on.
You had been introduced to Jayce and he seemed friendly enough, but I don't think he appreciated the way you laughed at their failure a few hours ago.
"You want to work with me?" Viktor asked.
"Yes" You said sitting up from the couch. "If you'll have me"
Jayce looked from you to Viktor, and back to you. "You offered him a job?"
"Yes, I think he will be a great addition to the team. He is after all the only one that has ever out smarted me"
Jayces eyes grew wide and his eyebrows shot into his hair line. "Well, uh, welcome to the team" he turned around a little stunned back to the black board but didn't start writing immediately.
You looked at Viktor and he winked before returning to his work. "I'd like to that you to dinner tonight" he said without looking at you. "We have much to discuss. Beyond that you are free to do as you please".
You were grateful for the dinner invite. Now that you were off Slicos payroll you weren't share how to get by. But you didn't want to live off his good graces forever. You wanted to make your own way.
You got up from the couch sliding the crutch under your arm. As you closed the door you had noticed Viktor had turned slightly as if to heard you better as you left.
The streets of Piltover were much easier to navigate in the day time although you did have to take a lot of breaks do to your leg.
The bridge was easy to find and to cross but once in the under city things got tricky.
You tried to rack your brain for anyone the could give you the batteries you needed that wasn't directly employed by Silco. Only one name came to mind but he wasn't really free from Silcos influence.
Singed had helped you build things in the past. They were mostly toys and small projects but you were sure he still had a soft spot for you.
The way to get there was out of Silcos high traffic areas but that didn't stop Sevika from grabbing you from behind and throwing you over her shoulder. "You are quite the busy little pet" she said with a cigar in her mouth.
"And you're quite the ugly dog" you spat, struggling to free yourself.
Everyone seem to watch Sevika carry you into one drop. If you weren't preparing yourself to see Silco you may have spared a thought to be embarrassed.
Sevika set you down and returned Viktors cane to you. Silco was seated with his eyes on some papers on his desk but he looked up to meet your gaze. He smiled, stretching his ugly scares in the process. "Ah! Y/N, where have you been?" He stood gliding around his desk to put either hand on your shoulders.
You grabbed his hands by the wrist and threw them down off of you. "Stop pretending you don't know exactly where I've been".
His grin fades into his more nature scowl. His arm shoots up to grab your throat using it to pin you up against the wall. The crutch falls to the floor and you are trying to remain up right as Silco lifts you high and higher.
He growls in your ear. "Yes, I know exactly were you've been and who you've been with" he hisses bring you higher. His hold on you is cutting off circulation and oxygen. "And if I didn't think that this situation could be some use to me, I would have killed you for the betrayl" his had slid down your pants grabbing a hold of you.
You would have gasped if you had the ability to breathe. "I own you. Don''t forget that. And if you won't serve me with this" he entered you with two of his finders. This time you let out a strangled moan. "I will find other uses for you" things grew dark and faded before he let you fall to the floor.
You cried out in pain with how hard you landed on your broken leg. You lay there holding it as Silco walked around you. "Now I know you are in contact with that little thing on the council, but what did you come back down here for" he crouched down to your level. "I am sure it wasn't because you missed me".
You were still reeling from the lack of oxygen and the pain of your leg. Apparently you didn't answer fast enough because he pulled you up by your hair earning a yelp. "Batteries!" You swallowed hard. "Batteries".
"Hmmm" he let your hair go and your head hit the ground. "What are you building now?"
You didn't want to anger him further so you told him all about the hextech device and machine attached.
"Well well you have proven useful" he opened the door speaking to Sevika to low for you to hear. And then closed the door. He walked back over to you. You flinched as he came down on top of you pinning your arms and legs. "Now... you are going to go back there and gather information and report back to me" he leaned to whisper in your ear. "But if you betray me again... I will break both your legs and use you like a rag doll".
Tears rolled down your face even though you were trying so hard now to cry. Silco then lifted you to your feet more gentle then before and gave you Viktors crutch back. "That boy is smart. You better be careful or I'll kill him". You knew exactly who his was talking about and you shivered at his words. "Now you hobble along, Sevika will have your batteries by now". He then turned and walked away.
Sevika did have your batteries and your pay cheque. You didn't want to take it but you didn't know how else to live so you took them both and painfuly walked to the bridge.
From a pet to a spy, how fitting. Why did you kid yourself. You could never escape Silco. He was your master and although your leash was invisible it chafed all the same.
How could you go back there. Go back to the people who were so kind and willing to invite you in and betray them. It made your heart heavy. Now on the bridge you pondered the idea of making the easy decision. Deciding not to decide.
It would be simple to just climb over and never be seen again. You are sure Viktor wouldn't miss you. Just another problem that seemed to resolve itself. But even then you were to weak to get over the rail and to stubborn to give up yet.
Once back in Piltover you entered a clothing shop. The woman looked you up and down and almost shrieked. You would laugh if it didn't cause you pain. You had a black eye, bruising on your neck, broken leg, and blood all up your shirt from the day before.
You cleared your voice before speaking "I need clothes from the male Trans section"
She stood just taking in your disheveled appearance for a moment before leading you to a section in the back. She explained that all their mens clothes ranged in size and fit so they could accustom to all body types.
You spent little time choosing a black long sleeve shirt and gray pants. You paid and thanked the women before heading back onto the street. You were sure Viktor would be well dressed for dinner like the last time you had seem him but you couldn't even manage to tuck in your shirt.
You enter the restaurant that Viktor specified, spotting him near the back. You struggled to move between the tables. The look of the place was very warm. The lights were yellow and a pale pink covered the walls. All the decor gave off a fancy air to the place. At least fancier then any of the places in the under city.
You struggled to sit using the table to steady yourself. Viktor looked surprisingly casual. He only had on a brown button up without a vest. It hit you how handsome he looked. Without the uniforn and his head strong performance he put on when you had first met him he was statue carved of gold. Viktor didn't look up from a book he had been reading. "You are late" he didn't say it with any annoyance only fact.
You pulled the battery from your pocket and set it in the middle of the table "I was getting this".
He looked up to the battery and then to you, and his eyes grew wide. You realized that the new marks on your neck must look worse then you thought.
"W-what happened?" He asked looking concerned.
You couldn't tell him the truth. You were a spy. Even now, miles away it still felt like Silco was choking you.
"Just the p-price of things in the under city" You tried to brush it off but the words were catching in your throat. He reached a hand to grasp yours across the table. His had was warm and soft despite his many calluses.
It was hard to meet his eyes. So you looked down at the table. His other hand placed a key on the table right in the line of your sight. Your eyes met his again and he was smiling. "It's a key to your new place". Tear fell down your face yet he still smiled. You could tell he knew... He knew what it was like to come from nothing. To have no future or choice.
For a moment you were happy. Happy at the prospect of a new life, a new dream to chase. A world where you were safe and free. But you were a spy, planning on feeding secrets to the most dangerous man you knew.
And then quickly you pulled your hand back. If Silco saw this he would kill Viktor. Even now his little rats were always watching. You couldn't get to close. Silco demanded you learn the secrets of Piltover and this new technology, but also warned about what one slip up would cost. You disguised the action by rubbing the tears from your face.
Food that Viktor had ordered before for you arrived was being served and the moment was broken. Thankful for the distraction you were quickly consumed by the smell if the food. You can't remember the last time you ate.
You had insisted on paying but Viktor had persisted that he was the one that had invited you. You both walked at a stilted pace, more because of you and your injuries rather then his, to your new place.
It was located right in the academy. Technically student housing, but as long as you worked with him you could stay, Viktor explained. He walked you all the way to your door.
"I was told that it would come fully furnished and have extra clothes and toiletries"
You unlocked the door and gasped at the living space. Even as student rooms go this was bigger then your apartment back in the under city. The room was dark but you had a living room that fit a small couch and TV, right next to a kitchen. Down the hall were two doors that you could only assume were bedroom and bathroom.
"I really don't think 'thank you' is enough" You turned around to see him leaning in the door way hands in his pockets. You were quietly grateful that he didn't enter, you didn't know who was watching. "Why?" You questioned him.
He looked down for a moment and then met your eyes. "When Hiemmerdinger found me he saw potential that I did not. He clothed me housesed me and gave me a purpose" he looked down at the ground before he spoke again "I see the same potential in you".

Sweet Mafia
Dreams:
He was so innocent, so pure and perfect. Cass wanted nothing more than to show him her world. The chaos that writes her everyday.
“Stay still...” she whispered into his ear before sitting up. She wanted to mark him, show everyone that he was hers.
She ran a knife with a delicate hand, down his chest and back up careful not to break skin. He watched her closely hanging on to everything she did. He knew she would never hurt him no matter what danger lurks between her depths. He had surrendered himself to her and she loved it.
Craved it.
Convincing herself, she put the knife down at the side of them and grinds against his now erect shaft. Her own excitement wetting her lace panties. She wanted to claim him.
His innocence.
Because he was only hers.
“Tell me Jayce, do you want me?” She grounded her hips against him harder causing groans to escape his mouth. Pre-cum wet his boxers as he kept his body as still as he could.
“Yes.” He shuttered against her.
“How badly.” Her voice was a purr to his ears that had him clenching his abdomen.
“I need you Cass,” he breathily replies. “Take me...” And that was all she needed to hear before easing back his boxers and pulling his cock into her mouth.
She woke with a start to her day, her heat aches beneath her. She wiped a hand over her face and tugged her hair into a bun getting up to take a cold shower.
Why couldn’t she get him out of her mind?
She knew the answer to the question all too well but she knew the person hidden within her skin would ruin him.
She had a darkness only Tye had seen once. The side of her who craved the world be set to ashes. She had let her anger get the best of her and lost control, she need not to do that again.
Years and years of practice maintaining patience and a calm stature when all she wanted to do is wreak havoc.
Cass turned the water on and stepped underneath the shower’s cold water tapping down her raging hormones and went to start another day.
She let her hair air dry as she put on her clothes for today, the mafia leader still had her own college classes to attend after all. The new semester starts today but at least it was her last year. Putting on some mascara and lipstick she was just about ready for her meeting before she got a call.
“Wassup Tye, what’s going on?” She tugged on her garters and clipped them to her socks.
“Meeting is canceled Cass. I got some bad news for ya...” he paused for a bit, something Cass knew meant it really wasn’t good.
“What is it Tyson?”
“Micheal is back.” He fell silent the moment those words fell from his lips.
“What—“ Anger swirled within her. Pent up and swelling even more, the box she held it in was going to bust. “What do you mean he’s back!?” She was furious to say the least. “I thought I fucking told him if he ever came back I’d— never mind. What has he done now?”
“It’s not good Cass... Just come to the docks.” He replies.
“I’ll see you in 20.” She hung up the phone shaking as she tried to hold back her angst.
***
“So they’re missing.” She stated calmly, too calm.
“Yes...” Tyson was weary. He knew how his friend was like especially when boiled with anger. This calmness was new and he didn’t really like it. He expected her to yell and rage at him and she was doing neither. She looked completely calm and unaffected when he knew that was not the case.
Micheal was after all, the one who betrayed her.
“Okay.” She said simply to the fact that a few of her people were missing. Knowing Micheal he would have killed them by now because they would never speak. “We must inform and warn them to try and stay clear of him until Micheal comes to me himself.” Micheal only wanted her, she knew. He wished to marry her and when she said no he did everything in his power to make her life as miserable as he could... including something she would never tell a soul. Not even her trusted friend knew. One thing she did know is that when he inevitably comes to her she will be ready and he will die.
“Yes ma’am.” Replied Tye and turned on his heel to alert the others. He wasn’t about to make her upset in any way.
She let out a big sigh and went back to her vehicle, right now she had things to do and couldn’t lose herself in the loss of her people. She was going to set up a plan and a damn good one to lore Micheal right where she wanted. She just had to go to her class first. Cass drove quickly down the road not quite speeding but still fast. Making it to her campus in record time she stepped out of her car and grabs her bag.
Professor McKay was her next step, forensic psychology.
Yes she was a psychology major.
“Morning professor.” She stated walking into the class before any other student.
“Ah, morning Ms. Nyx and how are you today?” Professor McKay always favored this sparky student before her. Cass was too smart for her own good she thought, she sees a lot of potential to do great things in the young woman.
“I am well, thank you.” She just wish Cassiopeia didn’t follow in the footsteps of her father. The mafia was not a safe place in terms of their enemies. She knew she couldn’t change her mind. “How are you today?”
“Could be better but I’ll get there. Thank you professor.” Cass sat in her chair and waited for the other students to enter. Suddenly her senses peak and the hair on her neck stands and she feels as if she’s being watched. She turns her head to the window looking out in hopes of finding the source of it. Finding nothing she shivers and turns back around.
“Cass..” Her ears faded back in and a familiar voice calls her. “Cassiopeia?”
She ground her teeth at the mention of her name, often people said it wrong which aggravated her. This person however said it correctly.. interesting. “Cass?” He called again until she turned to meet the beautiful clear blue eyes of someone she could never forget.
“Jay, hi.” She smiled as politely as she could at the moment.
The beast she kept within herself clawed to the surface wanting to claim him right then.
Relax and get back.
“How are you today?” He took in her appearance as he sat down next to her. Definitely not as black as the clothing he met her in but just as dangerous and incredibly beautiful.
“I am well.. thank you.” She smiled while pushing back her thoughts of destruction. “How are you?”
“I’m good, nice to see you.”
Cass remembered him saying last night that he transferred from a different college. However with everything that went on this morning she kind of hoped not to see him. She was on edge and that brought the person she hid closer to the surface.
“Nice to see you as well.”
The professor began to teach but Cass couldn’t focus. Between Micheal being back, some of her trusted colleagues missing and probably dead and the sexual frustration setting back in from this morning because the man of her dreams literally sitting next to her, she couldn’t.
As she began to shake her leg and anxiously tap her pen on the desk Jay looked to her wearily. He knew something had to be wrong but Cass was his biggest mystery he had yet to figure out. He didn’t know how to approach her about how she felt. Before too long the class ended and Cass tried her best to hurry out of the room saying a curt bye to her professor and heading out. She needed a release and quickly before the beast lurking beneath her surface broke free.
Words and sounds faded into nothing as she felt a sense of danger. As she walked the parking lot to her car her hair on the back of her neck rose more and more. She tried to settle herself but the feeling wouldn’t go.
She felt a presence behind her and she quickly grabbed her knife from her garters and threw a quick elbow back causing a yelp from the person. She turned quickly tripping the man and holding the knife to his throat. Adrenaline blinded her until she heard her name, “Shit Cass— relax it’s me.” Connor Ryder, her ex.
“Connie what did I tell you about sneaking up on me.” She grit her teeth as she put her knife away and letting him go.
“Nice to see you too sweetheart.”
“Don’t sweetheart me, what do you want Connor? If you can’t tell I’m busy.” She scoffed.
Connor and Cass had a weird relationship, they left on good terms but the tension between the two was hard to miss.
“I uh... I heard about Mike being back.” He looked sheepish. Michael was a hard subject for the both of them when all Michael wanted was to ruin any relationship Cass had after her refusal for marriage.
“Yes. What about it?” Often times she forgot Connor was apart of the whole mafia. She barely saw him anymore since... she didn’t want to think about it.
“I just want to let you know that I’m here for you. Anything you need just give me a call, my number hasn’t changed.”
Don’t do it Cass... don’t do it..
“Actually there is something I need help with....”
Don’t say it Cass.
“Oh?” He questioned.
“I know you remember all the.. fun we used to have, want to relive that for a day?”
For fuck sake Cass, don’t you listen to your conscience?
“Fun as in?”
“You know what Connie, don’t make me take the offer back.” She rolled her eyes.
“Yes ma’am.” He smiled getting into the passenger side of the car.
Cass got in right after and turns on the car driving off.
“To the spot?” Connor asks.
“To the spot.” She replied simply causing a smile upon Connor’s face.
