Indonesia, the largest Economy in South East Asia (SEA) in Terms of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has recently been elevated to become a Full Member now of the Brazil-Russia-India-China-South Africa (BRICS) Intergovernmental Organization, bringing the total number of Countries in the Organization to ten.
The BRICS Organization now comprise of the following Countries: Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Indonesia.
Three other Countries in SEA, namely Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam are already Partial or Partner Countries in BRICS, and are just awaiting their elevation to Full Member Status. Another SEA Country, Laos, has expressed its Interest in joining the Organization also.
Remember that BRICS is dominated by China and Russia, and Indonesia also has Territorial Disputes with China, but they refused to be goaded into antagonizing China over this and also refused to be a Dog to the United States (US) like the Philippines is now.

Another Country in South East Asia (SEA), this time the Country of Laos has expressed its intention to join the Brazil-Russia-India-China-South Africa (BRICS) Group of Countries, this as expressed by no less than the President of Laos itself, Thonglou Sisoulith.
Laos will be the fifth SEA Country who wants to join BRICS, alongside Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam. President Sisoulith made the Statement during the recent BRICS Plus/Outreach Plenary Session which was held alongside the 16th BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia.
President Sisoulith was invited to the Session by Russian President Vladimir Putin, and his Statement about BRICS said, "In light of the significant Achievements of BRICS and the growing importance of the Association on the World Stage, the Lao People’s Democratic Republic wishes to formally declare its interest in becoming a Member of BRICS.”
With more and more SEA Countries joining BRICS, the Philippines is in danger of being left out of the Economic Development and Progress thru Trade and Investments that is expected to happen with Partner and Member Countries of the Organization.

The Brazil-Russia-India-China-South Africa (BRICS) Organization recently announced that they have accepted thirteen Countries to be "Partner Countries", and of those thirteen, four are in South East Asia (SEA), namely Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand.
A Partner Country is not a Full Member Country yet to the Organization, but it is definitely one Step closer to that Direction. Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand sent their Foreign Ministers to the recent BRICS Summit while Vietnam was represented there by their Prime Minister.
Note that Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam have Territorial Disputes with China, arguably the BRICS' most Influential Member, and yet they have chosen to be still Part of the Organization.
