It doesn't surprise you that magic-item-connoisseur Coooper can ward her house against intruders. But it is a little unsettling to see her--towering, wild, intimidating, clawed, fanged, muscled--worrying over potential intruders. She must've left the Far Weald for good reason. Reasons that couldn't be solved with tooth and claw. She probably knew about the Wild Riders or Blood Whatever Hunters or other dangers there. Cooper was dangerous, but a big wolf woman couldn't take on an army.
With that in mind, you decide brute strength isn't going to be your ally here.
"Leave the wards down," you say with confidence that surprises even you. A flash of lightning and punch of thunder punctuate your decision. Cooper nods her head at you.
"Always good to have some brains to temper the brawn," she says with a grin. "You should go get some rest while you can. Guest room is a little dusty, but you can make yourself at home."
You nod and stand to gather your cloak and pack. The living mantle seems to reach for you as much as you reach for it, and it folds over your arm like a cat nuzzling against your hand.
"Before you bed down--" Cooper says, clearing her throat a little awkwardly. She gestures at the cloak, "do you mind... would you give me permission to inspect the Warden's Mantle? I would be very cautious and respectful." She speaks with emphasis, and seems to be talking as much to the cloak as she is to you. She's pulled a pair of comically small and delicate spectacles from her pocket, and is holding them nervously in both hands "I might be able to help you unlock some of its secrets."
You look down at the cloak draped over your arm. It's returned to a verdant shade of green, but you can feel a reluctance shuffling through its leaves.
