[Had to edit this post cuz I forgot the difference between waistcoat and blazer :,D I also fixed some errors I spotted]
The one thing I noticed when it comes to designs of the attorneys is their suits and how it relates to their careers.
Phoenix, during the PW trilogy [especially AA1], wears a coat while Miles wears a two piece suit. Phoenix, at this stage, is a rookie defense attorney, while Miles is an experienced prosecutor [his titles like 'the demon prosecutor' and 'guilty machine' or [something like that] in the anime confirms that he has more than a few cases under his belt]. Mia has this change as well [though it's not as obvious] cuz in T&T she doesn't have a grey waistcoat[? idk what to call it] under her coat. Kristoph as well since he wears a two piece suit in AA4 and his title 'the coolest defense in the west'.
This changes for Phoenix in AA5. He is more mature and has experience. He doesn't call himself a 'rookie' anymore. Now he wears a two piece suit, more akin to Edgeworth. Attorneys who don't have a lot of experience or are starting of either wear an coat or a waistcoat [examples being Athena and Apollo].
Even the other prosecutors in the main line games follow these rules. Simon wears a waistcoat underneath since he is an experienced prosecutor. Godot wears a waistcoat since his first trial is with the player [at least as a prosecutor]. Nahyuta wears a long-neck underneath his suit [this one is also more subtle, like Mia's [which makes me think any attorney with a religious background like to make their outfit more subtle in general]. Even Klavier has a coat, which shows that he isn't that experienced when we face of against him [his naïve trust in the legal system shows as much]. Franziska can also be said to not have a lot of experience, since she's like 17 in JFA, hence why she wears a waistcoat.
The only person who breaks this rule that I can think of is Grossberg, since he only wears a coat and he has a lot of experience, but I think that's because this rule became a design choice during T&T. Bratworth as well, since his suit here is like Manfred's and is therefore a two piece suit, but I think it's because he thinks of himself as a good, high and mighty prosecutor, having his pride be connected to his outfit and therefore make him look more.. Intimidating I guess is the right word?
I don't know if this is intentional or some sort of happy accident, just me rambling about suits and it's symbolism lol

Good evening pals it's time for more "things I like about the Ace Attorney Anime despite the budget being less than what I have in my piggy bank". Tonight is one of my favorite adaption decisions from "Farewell, My Turnabout" (obvious Spoilers for that case, you have been warned).
To start, the art in the anime is often pretty funky and off model, but I wanted to highlight this frame when Phoenix is talking to Matt Engarde in the detention center with his reflection in the shot. It is genuinely well drawn and downright horrifying. Actually, the whole episode has pretty good draftsmen working on the character animation, considering.
Tumblr media
I could honestly leave it as is, but this next scene is what I want to talk about the most. (I have to leave some stuff out because of the 30 image limit--I took like 50 screencaps of this scene in total lol--so bare with me.) Phoenix steps out of the Detention center to see a certain prosecutor waiting for him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The following conversation takes place in the Criminal Affairs Department in the game, but in the anime, it takes place in Edgeworth's office! (RIP Eddy's Bratworth outfit which is just a 2D image on that wall lmao--again, there are some well drawn stuff but this is just silly.) Another note: the text is from the sub with the localized English names, and it's a bit different from the dub.

This shot lingers for a bit, and you hear traffic outside before the following happens. The rest is under the cut.

✧Miles Edgeworth sketches✧
Today I was in the city for a few hours and spent about half that time time drawing in my sketchbook and this is the first page I did :D
For this page I decided to draw a bunch of Edgeworth's (and a cat as a warm up) because not only is he my favourite AA character (like 80% of the fanbase lol) but also, because I hate the anime trope of characters having the exact same hairstyle from childhood to adulthood! So I wanted to try drawing the three main era's of Miles with slightly different versions of his hairstyle while trying to keep the iconic parts.
(rest of commentary has minor spoilers for AA1-5)
I enjoy the hairstyle results as I think the shorter bangs for YA Miles makes him look more bratty which fits his fanon nickname and, I've seen a few of people draw Chiefworth with a ponytail and I love that concept so much cuz, not only does it look cool af but, it also has him tie in with Simon Blackquill's design a bit which I like for DD plot reasons. So I stole the design >:-)
I also changed some minor things about Chiefworth design that I personally disliked, such as making the gold buttons sliver (it matches his hair better and, distance his design away from his young design/Manfred which I prefer personally) and his glasses to be full rimed (as a glasses wearer I hate his canon glasses! that man probably gotta rub his lenses clean multiple times a day! Also the full rimed look matches his late Father :D).
Lastly, I played around with making him look more tired/aged as he got older, this does seem to be canonish as Bratworth looks more open eyed (at least his HD trilogy sprite does) and in DD Phoenix does think to himself about Chiefworth having stronger frown lines.
I think both adult Edgeworth and Chiefworth ended up look a bit older than his canon age but I don't mind that as the man is such a workaholic and, had nightmares for a good chunk of his life so I buy him ageing faster than average physically, the faces still don't look as nice as I hoped but hopefully drawing more Miles will help fix the jankyness I see but can't quite describe lol.

I’ve had,,, an idea,,, like a beautiful, beautiful idea for a fantasy creature Au for ace attorney.
I’ve had oread* miles edgeworth and fire spirit phoenix wright FUCKING INVADING MY BRAIN. Here’s some of my brain rot. And the reference pose I used just in case someone was looking for it (thank you og pose posters of the art world you are gifts of gods I swear it, I used number three but I altered the shit out of it AND THOSE HANDS TURNED OUT SO DAMN NICE) and I have ideas for who is what if yall wanna hear me out. (Please say you do I’m begging I wanna theory dump so bad)
So some tidbits. Yes Phoenix has little fire wings and he can (kind of anyway, it’s more like floating) fly. It is important to note; he’s not a true Phoenix, just an elemental being made of fire. He can change his form (he’s literally an essence of fire itself contained in an elemental core.) They flare when he gets happy, excited, jealous, worried, or angry. They tend to recede or die out when he’s sardonic or in any other depressive mood. He also flutters them a little when he’s really stoked or happy.
He can control how hot his external flames burn, same with his wing size (when he thinks about it).
If his internal flame goes out he dies. If it dims due to illness or lowered body temp, he does get really sick (like a flame getting weaker- yes he was really not ok after the bridge incident, and the taser gave him fever chills for two days after because it was too close to his heart. Glass had to be removed from his stomach after Dahlia because he can’t fucking digest glass and it melted into a huge wad in his stomach causing a large blockage. The poison dahlia used had a side effect of lowering body temp, so Phoenix still got sick from being stupid.)
Also. This motherfucker has to eat. A LOT he literally has to consume a fuel source (food, coal, wood, anything that can burn) so he doesn’t yknow. Stop burning.
He does glow! From the inside out! Lantern boi.
Miles is an Oread. Oreads are Greek rock, valley, mountain, and grotto spirits.
He’s made of limestone. Looks intimidating, but crumbles apart easy.
Yes. He does grow garnet crystals out of his horns.
He can mold and shape rocks at will, which is useful because when he pushes himself too hard or is stressed he can’t hide it. His body parts just start crumbling off. (Dw, they snap back into place like nothing happened but it’s definitely unsettling. Think: “Your arm’s off!” “It’s but a fleshwound.”)
I gave him a tail and more animal like legs to be more of a representation of animals that live in his life source area (there’s a sacred grotto he’s bound to, same one as his father, he visits to check in every once in awhile.)
Because his life essence is linked to the grotto, he can only get sick or die if his source area is sick or dying/destroyed- or if his heart is damaged or destroyed (it’s like a little physical link to their source area, can’t function without it.)
Earthquakes are still big scary. They’re extremely painful, like if all your growing pains hit at once. Miles experienced his first one when trapped in that elevator, which freaked him out so bad on top of the fighting that… well, we know how it ended. Even though he doesn’t need to breathe (made of rock) he still had a panic attack from stress and went unconscious from it. Not fun.
Also!! If he blushes too hard, he can melt!! His ear!! It’s melty!!
Big teefs for eatin rock. He does have to consume extra mineral rocks or he can be a little brittle.
He can shift into a more “human” form without a tail and with regular legs, but it’s not as comfortable as his standard form. Bratworth definitely spent more time than he should’ve trying to look more human to fit in with the Von Karmas.
He wiggles his lil ears when he’s content or happy. Because that’s cute and it makes me happy.
I’ve been thinking up theories for like most of the cast. Vote in the poll if you wanna hear more!

the fact that bratworth was basically a younger recolored version of manfred says a lot about his character development (rant under cut)
he started off as pretty much a carbon copy of his dad as shown in the anime, wanting to be just like him and having a similar wardrobe and whatnot
after the dl-6 he became kind of closeted, eventually switching out his bowtie for a cravat, thus starting the von karma rulechanging that made him grow up and become bratworth, basically a younger copy of his adoptive dad that follows and respects his every move, even bowing to him and blaming himself for anything he might not know, even if it wast even shared to him.
when he grew older he slowly gave up some of his von karma ways, trading out the extravagant suit for a more simple one, but keeping the cravat as a sign that it's still there in his ways of prosecuting.
after turnabout goodbyes when he was released of the guilt and nightmare of his father's death, he became a lot more accepting of not guilty verdicts, realizing that being a prosecutor isn't to get a guilty verdict, but to get the truth.
his signature velvet/red color stayed throughout his entire life however, along with his cravat. these both show that who he once was, no matter good or bad, is still with him.

The Three Suits to Rule Them All
its real! edgeworth suit essay is real and available to read below the cut or on ao3!
An analytical essay on how Edgeworth's various suits/eras express his opinions and desires. From replicating Manfred von Karma to Gregory Edgeworth, Miles's suits tell a lot about how he viewed these important people in the games and his life.
Introduction
You may be wondering why the Genius Prosecutor Miles Edgeworth's suit matters so much. Well, Dear Reader, that is what I hope to explain. Edgeworth has three distinct eras in which his suit is different. The changes often show how he views and takes after key figures in his life, such as Manfred von Karma and his father, Gregory Edgeworth. This may sound like an over-analysis and it most likely is, but these are details that I noticed and I care too much about Ace Attorney to let them go.
The Cravat Drama
Miles Edgeworth doesn't wear a cravat. I know right? Crazy. Multiple times in the games, he refers to it as a cravat when it is actually a jabot. This distinction doesn't matter for this essay but who gave it to him does.
In Sound the Turnabout Melody, episode 6 of season 2 in the anime, Miles Edgeworth receives his first cravat from Manfred von Karma. The overall episode is very sweet but it's the ending that matters for our purposes. (The dog is named Napalm :'''') At the end of the episode, after Miles confronts Goldy Gerwitz, Manfred is impressed with Miles's deductive skills and takes him on as a protege instead of sending him to an orphanage. The cravat/jabot is a mark of being under Manfred von Karma's tutelage.
Both Manfred and Franziska have a variation of a cravat on their clothes. When Miles receives his, it also represents Manfred accepting him as part of the von Karma family and therefore part of the von Karma legacy.
The cravat is an important symbol overall but where it is placed is also significant. Miles's cravat is (kind of) over his heart so you could say Miles is carrying a piece of Manfred with him wherever he goes.
Brathworth
The next time we see Miles, he is 20 (going chronologically by in-game time) He's dressed in a suit that is in one word, pompous. Miles has definitely continued down the path of imitating Manfred (in his sprites too but that's not what we're talking about) From the detailed waistcoat to their matching black collar and suit cuffs, Miles reeks of von Karma. The cravat is still in its usual place over his "heart" Miles's first case(s) don't go so well but he makes sure to remind everyone who he studied under.
This isn't to say that Miles isn't his own person. He wears a suit so magenta, the only way to describe it is…distinctive. I like to imagine Miles designed this suit with "a nod to the future and a thank you to the past" in mind (because he's honestly really annoying and pretentious.) He looks like himself, just not fully himself, in the fancy suit with fancy gold detailing on it.
This is fully not relevant in any sense of the word but in one of the anime bloopers, the judge upon Miles's entrance exclaims, "Oh, your suit is loud." I feel like that fully encapsulates this era of Miles Edgeworth as a whole. He calls Mia Fey a "novice bimbo" while wearing a suit that screams "I'm too good for you" Overall, this is not his best look but it's certainly entertaining and telling about his relationship with Manfred von Karma.
Edgeworth
This is how we first see Edgeworth in the games. Clad in his iconic burgundy suit and cravat, this is how most people imagine him. This section happens to be jam-packed with references and the representation of Manfred von Karma in Miles's life because as I stated before, Manfred was one of the most important people to Miles.
A notable difference between Bratworth and Edgeworth's suits is the lack of the obnoxious gold detailing and bright blue waistcoat. It represents Miles becoming his own prosecutor and redesigning his suit to fit his tastes, not Manfred's.
Miles still carries around a piece of von Karma with him though. His cravat is more or less over his heart and a reminder of who gave him this life.
After Turnabout Goodbyes and Rise from the Ashes technically but the timeline is a little confusing, Miles "chooses death" It isn't the choosing death part that I want to focus on but his return. Miles's stated reason for leaving is to find out what being a prosecutor meant and reinvent himself. In his dramatic reappearance in Farewell, My Turnabout, he arrives wearing the same suit. The same suit with the symbol of Manfred von Karma and the von Karma legacy squarely on his heart.
On his year-long gallivant around Europe, Miles says he thought about what it meant to be a von Karma. Why then, would he carry around a symbol of his mentor, a convicted murderer, Manfred von Karma? Subtracting all of the murder, Manfred could have been a good mentor and possibly even father to Miles. One thing that is canon, is that the von Karma legacy is extremely harsh and both Miles and Franziska struggle under its weight. Manfred is hardly the first von Karma and who's to say he didn't struggle with achieving perfection throughout his life?
Another fixture in Miles's life is his office. Aside from my personal favorite item of his, the chess set, Miles owns a frame of his old suit from his Bratworth days. This frame is present throughout the series, leading into investigations. In the timeline, the first case of Ace Attorney Investigations when we see the suit, is a full two years after Turnabout Goodbyes. That suit is most likely a huge reminder of Manfred. Miles was not back in the US for a year but he still had time to remove it when he was back. There must be something positive that he gets from this suit because it also represents a lot of horrible things, from his mentor to unknowingly presenting fake evidence and possibly killing the innocent.
As you can tell from the sheer size of this section, there is a lot to unpack in terms of symbolism for this era of Edgeworth. AA2 is mostly about the von Karma legacy and how it affected others. Since it takes up so much space in the games, it takes up even more space in my mind.
Chiefworth
AAI2 is about Miles's internal conflict about his job and whether to stay on the "prosecutor's path" The next time we see him is in Turnabout for Tomorrow. He is the Chief Prosecutor and sports a pair of glasses (not in court though) Looking at his official artwork, you can see his coat is longer and a lot more similar to his father's. A natural conclusion is that after the events of AAI2, Miles re-evaluated his position as a prosecutor and how he could bring more of his father into his life.
Overall, this era of Edgeworth isn't very interesting in a narrative sense. It signals the end of a character arc and doesn't leave much to speculate about how his suit may change in future games.
The actual game play when Edgeworth appears in-game, is some of my favorite. The nostalgia in Turnabout Time Traveler and the general banter every time Miles and Phoenix interact comes of really well despite other issues I have with AA5-6.
Conclusion
Throughout the entire game series, Miles wears his cravat. A symbol of the von Karma's. Every single time we see him in this god-forsaken game series, he wears the symbol of the canonically harsh von Karma legacy of perfection. Miles admits multiple times that he doesn't feel like he deserves or wants to be a part of this legacy, yet he still wears the cravat.
At the end of his narrative arc, he wears two symbols, his cravat and his coat. Both are representations of the two mentors in Miles's life, Gregory Edgeworth and Manfred von Karma. By AA5, he has learned to show the two most important inspirations in his life on his personage.
Miles Edgeworth is a character that this fandom loves. I've seen many an analysis about him and his actions but never on his suit. I don't think that the character designers for Ace Attorney were thinking this much about his suit. I definitely do think there was thought put into Miles's different outfits (the resemblance to his father and Manfred is not a coincidence) Honestly, I have no clue why this essay spawned into the eldritch horror it is now but I hope it made some sense.

How about Miego? La gatita y su café adicto cíclope.
I Ship It!!!!!!!!!!! X3c
• What made you ship it?
It's literally canon gente, and no matter what canon says, they gon be togheter forever! Godot will be able to talk to ghosts or smthing lol
• What are your favorite things about the ship?
Eeeeverything about 3-4 is much about perfect. Literally Mia and Diego working togheter to solve the case, we see them interact, we see them getting along, we see the teachings he passes onto her, we see the impact they have in each other's lives, the lovers ever frfr. And I love that in the anime there's a moment where Bratworth eavesdrops on them and realizes what they got going on hehehe.
• Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?
CAN WE KEEP LANA OUT OF THIS???? LANA HAS LIKE 4 OR 5 PROSPECT BOYFRIENDS, ANGEL IS BETTER IF YOU PREFER YURI, JUST- NO LANA HERE THANKS
Miego tastes like: Coffee Infused Chocotorta! You see, to make a chocotorta, you need to dunk the chocolinas in a liquid to soften them up and personally I think coffee is the best choice! The bitterness doesn't just cut the sweet but also enhances the flavor, making it much tastier plus it prevents it from being too sweet. Y. Argentina claro xdd

Is volunteer au what I think it is :eyes: :eyes: :eyes:
Indeed it is! It is Edgeworth in a two sizes too small animal shelter volunteer shirt walking dogs and Feenie OH MY GOD ITS EDGEWORTH Wright signing up to take care of cats (because dog walking has a six month waitlist) and ending up taking care of the most onerous fury driven 'cat' named Princess Puddles.
Its also about Pess getting her new forever home with Edgeworth and taking down a corrupt department framing an innocent man and Mia not being able to do laundry. But really its about Feenie oggling Bratworth in a too tight shirt as he walks dogs.
As one should.

You asked for doodle requests so I’m requesting something of Miles Edgeworth walking his dog Pess :3
Hi! Unfortunately, a most-likely-fullbody image of someone walking their dog is a bit beyond what I'd classify as a doodle when I open doodle requests specifically. Especially since I have no history of drawing animals... and I don't know what Pess is actually meant to look like OTL
For the sake of doodling and to thank you for sending a request, I quickly sketched a chibi of Bratworth in my usual chibi style, but he wound up looking like a confusing and pathetic baby... ... so that's a win, right? (/ω\*)……… (/ω•\*)
Tumblr media
(Since this is my last request, this is also my last opportunity to ask anyone who hasn't seen it yet to vote in my siwwy widdle design poll for an OC o(* ̄▽ ̄*)ブ I don't really have a following, so anyone's vote is greatly appreciated!)

anyway the real dichotomy in ace attorney is narumitsu who dance around being effectively married on the soulmate plane for 30 years before having a tearful revelation in the middle of a murder-conspiracy vs klapollo who are like wanna go on a date after work yeah okay sure
phoenix is like apollo. take it from me, a married man. ur love life WILL be torrid for 2 decades. 3 if u count the years when u were 8 and working out the connection b/w homosexuality and court but it WILL be worth it. apollo is like klavier is bringing thai food to my apartment
judge: well then. mr. wright? what is this decisive evidence? phoenix: (this is it... i can't afford to get this wrong!) phoenix: TAKE THAT! everyone: ........ judge: this is your wedding ring phoenix: yeah. miles please help edgeworth, standing at the opposite bench:
kay: you gotta put yourself out there mr edgeworth i mean you never know! mr right could be just around the corner edgeworth: ? no, it's a work day. he'll be in his office downtown. kay: what? edgeworth: what?
klapollo. is so good and so funny. diva rock-star prosecutor who is like human form of the concept of vtubers. net worth of a small nation state. has his own barbie doll. dating: man who has invented a category called "most normal person on earth" and is trying so hard to win it
apollo is like klavier i cant date you i would feel guilty if we were dating but i didnt support you by watching your new reality/lifestyle show but i cant because its on at the same time as the local news and i have to write the forecast in my pocket notebook every night
klavier is like ach i understand boyfriend forehead. you are too insecure to join me on the red carpet. i assure you that everyone will find your suit that you bought from target as charming as i do and apollo is like no i know that
thinking about phoenix wright getting his badge back after eight long years and immediately taking on a case without checking who his client is and then when he finds out his client is an actual fucking orca he's like Aw brother. Golly gee. Well this might as well happen
trucy, mouth full of pocky: so you'd think klavier is the cool one in the relationship. but actually he gets excited about well drafted contracts. it's not him phoenix letting trucy give him a pedicure: so it's apollo? trucy: no phoenix: well, that's all the options trucy: yeah
naming one child kristoph and one child klavier is really like going these are my two cats this one is named geoffrey and this one is named placemat
does anyone remember that one tumblr post about what if there was an anime where every episode is the protagonist dodging the first episode of another anime because she wants to be just some guy. realising that that's apollo justice
orphaned when father died in a fire and mother disappeared and lost her memory? that's just how it is. won't look into that. raised in a foreign country by a guy who becomes an infamous insurgent? don't want to talk about it. will never bring it up. i want to be a solicitor
phoenix becoming an attorney to see miles again proving he's been thinking about miles for 15+ years and never stops and then in investigations miles proving that he thinks about phoenix like eight times a day every time anything happens but never by name that's too intimate
just a whole ass relationship of miles microwaving a lasagne and thinking This microwaveable lasagne. once so cold, is now warm to the touch. Much like my heart, which was changed by... that attorney
maya voice That's why you bought out the grocery store's entire supply of bratwurst? To meet Edgeworth?! and then edgeworth doesn't even like bratwurst

The way he said it so slowly.. Honey you're traumatized get help

"You're not the clown, you're the entire circus." ahh comment
Tumblr media
Idk why but this scene strikes me as pretty ooc of Manfred, like he's not the type to directly go and say stuff to people's faces like that, at least any one that isn't a defense attorney. I think it would be more accurate to say "It's worthless to work on a case like this" or smth like that. Maybe it's because I'm working with the anime's version of Manfred who knows
Franzy defending Miles is really cute I love that
Tumblr media Tumblr media
New hc: Callisto Yew's coping mechanism is laughing

BRATWORTH NOOOOOO YOU'RE HURTING YOU DAD

Aaaaanndddd that's about the first part of this post :D I'm actually having fun?? Whoa.
I love Callisto Yew she's soooo much fun, I too love bullying Bratworth. Detective Badd is also pretty neat I really like his vibes, his theme is so nice. I hope I get to see little Kay more she's so adorableeee I can't- Franzy is also so cute, she was almost exactly how I thought she would be lol. The Judge was stupid as always and overall the case is good [so far at least]
Anyway, I need to advance more in the case I'll see ya later >:] *disappears into thin air*

Joking Motive is one hell of a bop, I must heavily agree. He put his whole pussy into that synth. As for his facial recognition... just remember, the last time Miles was big in the media, he was doing it as Bratworth, where being mistaken for MvK would have been his favourite thing ever.
The therapy animals are lots of fun!! Sebastian / Eustace is going to be a favourite, everyone loves him for a reason. Justine / Verity, well, she has a Story, that's all I can say. :)
A WILD EDDIE FENDER APPEARS! His theme is a certified bop and it's only been thirty seconds in! DID YOU JUST CALL EDGEWORTH MANFRED HUH??? His facial recognition must be nonexistent, but I will admit it was a decent shot by proxy.
Alexa play Enchanté by Dirt Poor Robins. AND HE SAID THE THING! THAT'S THE DOUBLE WHAMMY OF A SONG RECOMMENDATION AND THE TITLE CARD IN ONE SENTENCE!
This one guard is super enthusiastic, I live for his energy. Name a more iconic nameless background character, I'll wait. AWW THE PRISONERS GET THERAPY ANIMALS! Oh shit here comes the possible murder weapon: ze dog. EDGEWORTH STOP STARING AT IT SO COLDLY AND MAYBE IT'LL LIKE YOU MORE!
THIS GUY'S GOT A POLAR BEAR HANGING ONTO HIM AWWWWW! Oooooooohhhhh he snitched! OH GOD THINGS HAVE ESCALATED TO THREATS OF VIOLENCE-
VERITY AND EUSTACE ARE ON THE SCENE! Was not expecting Verity to sound so religious; she's dedicated to seeing justice as a god, which should be very interesting. AY WAIT DON'T KICK US OUT WE MAY'VE WALKED THE LINE A BIT BUT HEY WE DID A GOOD THING IN THE END! In other news, Eustace is a loveable doofus already. Can't wait to add him to my collection of beloved prosecutors, which is all of them.
