Treatment of brain stroke or paralysis
A stroke can happen to anyone at any age, but older people are more likely to have one. Recognizing the symptoms and being aware of the risk factors may help prevent a stroke. Early diagnosis and treatment are very necessary for better results in case of paralysis.
Slurred speech, facial drooping, weakness or paralysis, and other symptoms can appear suddenly without any warning signs.
What is a brain stroke?
A brain stroke can occur when a blood vessel in the brain breaks and leaks. This is called a hemorrhagic stroke or brain hemorrhage.
Hypertension or increased blood pressure is a very important cause of brain hemorrhage.
Sometimes, there’s a blockage in the blood supply to the brain. This blockage keeps blood and oxygen from reaching the brain tissue, which causes a variety of symptoms. This is called Ischemic Stroke or brain infarct.
When brain cells die, they do not regenerate, which can cause severe damage and lead to physical, cognitive, and mental impairments. The brain must be restored with proper blood flow and oxygen as quickly as possible.

CT Head Without Contrast
Introduction
Computed Tomography (CT) scans have become a cornerstone of modern medicine, allowing healthcare professionals to visualize the internal structures of the human body with remarkable detail. CT scans are invaluable for diagnosing various medical conditions, especially when it comes to the head. One common type of CT scan is the "CT Head Without Contrast," which provides crucial information without the use of contrast agents. In this article, we will explore what CT Head Without Contrast is, its applications, and the significance of this non-invasive imaging technique in the field of healthcare.
Understanding CT Head Without Contrast
CT Head Without Contrast, also known as non-contrast head CT, is a radiological imaging technique that uses X-rays to produce detailed cross-sectional images of the brain, skull, and surrounding structures. Unlike contrast-enhanced CT scans, which involve the injection of a contrast agent (iodine-based dye) into the patient's bloodstream, CT Head Without Contrast relies solely on X-ray technology. This makes it a safer and more straightforward procedure for patients, as it eliminates the risk of allergic reactions or kidney-related issues associated with contrast agents.
Applications of CT Head Without Contrast
Trauma Evaluation:
CT Head Without Contrast is frequently used in emergency departments to assess head injuries caused by accidents, falls, or physical assaults. It helps identify fractures, bleeding, and brain swelling. This critical information guides medical professionals in making timely and accurate treatment decisions.
Stroke Assessment:
In cases of suspected stroke, CT Head Without Contrast is a valuable tool for evaluating the extent of brain damage and identifying the type of stroke. It can quickly rule out hemorrhagic stroke, where bleeding occurs within the brain, and provide valuable insights into the ischemic stroke, which is caused by a blocked blood vessel.
Infection and Inflammation:
CT Head Without Contrast is utilized to detect signs of infection or inflammation in the brain. Conditions such as encephalitis, abscesses, and meningitis can be identified through this imaging method. The absence of contrast agents does not hinder its diagnostic accuracy in these cases.
Monitoring Chronic Conditions:
Patients with chronic neurological conditions, such as brain tumors, may undergo routine CT Head Without Contrast scans to monitor disease progression and treatment effectiveness. This non-invasive technique provides an efficient means of tracking changes in tumor size and morphology over time.
Vascular Abnormalities:
CT Head Without Contrast can help detect vascular abnormalities, such as aneurysms or arteriovenous malformations (AVMs). By visualizing the blood vessels in the brain, it aids in diagnosing potentially life-threatening conditions.
Headache Diagnosis:
In some cases, individuals who experience severe or recurrent headaches may undergo a CT Head Without Contrast scan to rule out underlying structural issues in the brain that could be contributing to their symptoms.
Significance of CT Head Without Contrast
Speed and Accessibility:
CT Head Without Contrast is a rapid imaging technique, making it ideal for emergency situations. Time is often of the essence when diagnosing traumatic brain injuries or acute stroke cases, and this scan can quickly provide essential information to guide immediate treatment decisions.
Safety and Comfort:
The absence of contrast agents eliminates the risk of allergic reactions or kidney damage, which can be a concern with contrast-enhanced CT scans. Patients who cannot tolerate contrast agents or have contraindications can safely undergo a CT Head Without Contrast scan. Additionally, the procedure is generally well-tolerated and non-invasive, contributing to patient comfort.
Cost-Effective:
Compared to contrast-enhanced CT scans, CT Head Without Contrast is a cost-effective option. It reduces the overall expense of diagnostic imaging, making it more accessible to a broader range of patients.
Versatility:
The versatility of CT Head Without Contrast extends to its applicability across various medical specialties. It is not limited to neurology but is also used in emergency medicine, surgery, and primary care for a wide range of diagnostic purposes.
Conclusion
CT Head Without Contrast is an essential diagnostic tool that plays a crucial role in the evaluation and management of various medical conditions affecting the head and brain. Its speed, safety, and accessibility make it an invaluable resource in emergency situations and routine clinical care. By providing clear and detailed images of the brain and its surrounding structures, this non-invasive imaging technique empowers healthcare professionals to make accurate diagnoses and develop treatment plans that improve patient outcomes. In the ever-evolving field of medical imaging, CT Head Without Contrast remains an indispensable tool for healthcare providers seeking to deliver the highest standard of patient care.

Anmol Verma, 23 years old born with a locomotor disability in his right leg at Firozabad. But it didn't affect his body much and was able to work like other kids.
In 2010, his life turned upside down when he was in 6th grade. His health deteriorated as he suffered from high fever which led to paralyzed lower body. He was observed by doctors for a week and ended up in trauma hearing the devastating news that he may get brain hemorrhage.
Years passing by, his parents kept visiting doctors in hope of finding some cure for Anmol. His father suffered financial losses during his treatment. Due to losses, they couldn't take him abroad for treatment. During this period the only improvement was, he could sit on his own.
By the time he was promoted to 9th grade after challenging 2-3 years. The family shifted permanently to Faridabad from Firozabad as it was difficult to travel to Delhi regularly. Despite all the challenges, he continued studying. He was lucky enough to receive tremendous support from his friends and teachers.
Going to school wasn't easy for him. Sitting in one place made things difficult but things changed eventually. His friends supported him throughout and still push him to never miss opportunities. His school made things accessible by arranging a wheelchair to use for him.
There was even a time when a boy who is pursuing CA in one of the leading CA firms felt to give up. Anmol's family and friends kept motivating him and cheered him up.
With vigorous exercise and dedication, he started walking on his own.
Finally, after the 12th he decided to pursue chartered accountancy. Apart from CA, he is a social worker and writer by passion. He is the founder of an NGO called HUMANITY AT GLANCE FOUNDATION and works for sake of the education of unprivileged and orphan kids and the environment too.
"There is much more to accomplish in life, little dreams, little desires. The only thing I love is being an inspiration and getting inspiration- expresses Anmol.

A Stroke Can Happen Without Warning – Are You at Risk?
A stroke can come without warning and leave a person with permanent disabilities. Most people think of a stroke as something that happens suddenly, like an attack. However, a stroke can actually happen gradually over time. This makes it even more important to be aware of the symptoms so you can get help right away.
What is a stroke?
A stroke is a type of cardiovascular disease that occurs when blood flow to the brain is interrupted. This can happen as a result of a clot or blockage in an artery, or from bleeding in the brain. When this happens, brain cells are deprived of oxygen and begin to die. This can lead to serious problems, including paralysis, memory loss, and even death.
Types of Stroke
There are three main types of strokes: ischemic, hemorrhagic, and transient ischemic.
Ischemic strokes, the most common type, occur when a blood vessel that supplies blood to the brain becomes blocked. This can be caused by a build-up of plaque and cholesterol or by a blood clot.
Hemorrhagic strokes happen when a blood vessel in the brain ruptures and bleeds into the surrounding tissue. This can be caused by high blood pressure or an aneurysm.
Transient ischemic attacks (TIAs) are often called "mini-strokes" because they cause similar symptoms to a stroke but last for a much shorter period of time. TIAs are caused by a temporary blockage of blood flow to the brain.
Most strokes happen without warning and can be devastating. However, there are some risk factors that can increase your chances of having a stroke, including high blood pressure, diabetes, smoking, and obesity.
What are the risk factors for stroke?
One of the most important things to know about stroke is what the risk factors are. There are many factors that can increase your risk for stroke, some of which you can control and others that you cannot.
Some of the controllable risk factors for stroke include high blood pressure, diabetes, and smoking. If you have any of these conditions, it is important to work with your healthcare team to manage them as best as possible.
There are also several non-controllable risk factors for stroke, such as age, family history etc.
If you are aware of your personal risk factors for stroke, you can take steps to lower your risk. Eating a healthy diet, exercising regularly, and managing stress can all help reduce your risk for stroke.
How can you prevent stroke?
There are many ways that people can help prevent stroke. Some of the most important things that people can do are to control their blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and weight. People can also help prevent stroke by not smoking, drinking only in moderation, eating a healthy diet and getting regular exercise.
What are the warning signs of stroke?
When it comes to stroke, time is of the essence. The faster you can recognize the warning signs and get medical attention, the better your chances are of survival and recovery. Here are the most common warning signs of stroke:
Sudden onset of weakness or numbness in the face, arm or leg, often on one side of the body
Sudden onset of confusion or difficulty speaking
Sudden severe headache with no known cause
Sudden dizziness, loss of balance or coordination
In conclusion, strokes can happen without any warning signs. If you are at risk for stroke, it is important to be aware of the symptoms and to get medical help immediately if you experience them. With early diagnosis and treatment, many strokes can be prevented or their effects can be minimized.
