A critically important step in being a responsible consumer is knowing where your money goes. Ultimately, the products you purchase support the company who manufactured and/or sold them, but this does not always end at the company itself, as many companies are subsidiaries owned by a much larger corporation. While you may support the product itself, be sure you know where that money will end up and who it will ultimately support in the end. For example, you may support Honest Tea because it is organic, but that will end up in the pockets of The Coca Cola Company, who manufactures and sells products loaded with harmful chemicals. So, the support of Honest Tea means the support of many other companies you may not necessarily support.
