me & lily mayne have a very strange relationship as an author & one of her most devout readers because i will always love & admire mayne for her work with the monstrous series and the folk trilogy but god fucking dammit, why can i not enjoy anything else she’s written?

#❣️#both ‘death’s bloom’ & ‘berries & greed’ are absolutely amazing concepts with beautiful writing but neither worked out for me #and that makes me sad #the first made me irrationally angry because i despised the love interest for the irredeemable flaw of being annoying #and the second stumped me to hell & back because such a creative story with a unique atmosphere still had me feeling incredibly bored #i will never blame lily mayne she is not the problem here—it’s actually me and for the love of all the gods!!!#PLEASE let this new release she’s planning with another author be a win 😭#it sounds so good (just like those two other works!! pls let this be the outlier so that i can enjoy it just as much as monstrous & folk)#she also has this short story in a monster anthology coming out late this year so we’ll see how that goes 🫠#booklr
