🌿 WIGGLY ✨ A little Wednesday art outing to see the flower show at the Calyx @rbgsydney for floral inspiration with @zentidesigns 😋 We ended up wandering around the gardens and I painted a quick watercolour sketch. This wiggly palm tree really stood out to me and was just asking to be painted! 😂 🌴 Swipe for a closer pic - sketch is available (DM if interested) ✨ www.studiokaka.art/shop 🌿 . . . . . #sydneyartist #royalbotanicgardens #botanicalgardens #botanicgardensydney #botanicallyinspired #landscapesketch #landscapewatercolor #sydneywatercolour #palmtree #palmtreelove #naturesquirks #treesofinstagram #treeslover #watercolourillustration #watercoloursketching #watercoloursketchbook #sketchbookart #landscapepainting #pleinairwatercolor #pleinairpainting #pleinairsketching #sydneysketching #gardenart #gardensketch (at The Royal Botanic Garden, Sydney) https://www.instagram.com/p/CK0iu1kDcTU/?igshid=i1f0i5ypjsvc

A Great Day To Turn 50
Our 10 hour flight to Sydney flew by! The service on Hawaiian Airlines is great before we knew it were were in Sydney. Going through customs and immigration was smooth as well. After we checked in to the Shagri La Hotel Mike and I set out for a stroll around The Rocks this area is a perfect blend of culture, cuisine and experiences that are worth savoring. It also frames the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the famous Opera House. We felt pretty good after our flight so we stopped at the Argyle http://theargylerocks.com which is located on The Rocks for a cocktail and some snacks, a great nightcap after a long journey.
Today we decided to head out and explore Sydney. Our friends the Stroups told us we had to pay a visit to the seafood market so we did. This is the largest working seafood trading market in the southern hemisphere, it was s site to see. So many types of creatures that I have never seen before. You can also pick your fresh seafood and eat it right there!
After our visit to the market we headed to the Opera house. From here there was so much to see and do, Sydney is a great walking city and easy to get around. We started at the Opera house which is an Icon of Sydney and also a Unesco World Heritage Site. From here we walked to The Royal Botanic Garden, est. 1816, is the oldest botanic garden and scientific institution in Australia. It is home to an outstanding collection of plants from around the world with a focus on Australia and the South Pacific. The Botanic Garden is in Sydney Harbour, next to the Opera House. It took us about a 1 1/2 to walk the park, it was beautiful and filled with many types of plants we have never seen before plus beautiful exotic wild birds flying around. One of my favorites was to see cockatoos flying over my head and stopping in the trees for a snack. In the USA we only see these in cages, it was such a treat to see them in their habitat and freely flying around.
On our way back to our hotel we stopped at oldest bar in Sydney ...Fortune of War the oldest public hotel in Sydney, the Fortune of War is embodied in the history of Sydney. The bar has a “colorful” reputation, which includes being the first and last port of call for generations of Australian soldiers involved in theaters of conflict. The Fortune of War has a long term reputation as a popular “first and last stop ashore” for sailors and the troops of the Australian Armed Forces who were to experience the ‘fortune of the war’ when they departed Sydney Cove to defend their country. What a great place to have a beer and celebrate Mike's 50th birthday which is actually today Feb 3rd. Headed out tonight for celebrations at Sake Restaurant and Bar http://www.sakerestaurant.com.au for dinner and call it a night!
