ON APRIL 25TH!? IT'S MY BIRTHDAY OMG SO HAPPY😭

Bossun and Himeko are literally my childhood anime ship alongside Natsu and Lucy from Fairy Tail🥺🥺

So I was searching Sket dance on Reddit, found this photo of Gorilla sensei passing out drunk or something posted by Shinohara sensei on Twitter. 

I started scrolling through Shinohara sensei´s twitter, then I found this “innocent” thing, Shinohara post this picture as a response for this super  passionate Sket dance fan (  btw, you´re awesome dude!), after I saw the picture, I started “translating” the japanese re tweets with google ( I know it´s pretty lame, I wish I could know japanese tho) some of them said something about rings, after I entered my concentration mode I thought mmm… is there something I missed in the picture????

Then it hit me….. IT FUCKING HIT MEEEEEEE!!! , BOSSUN AND HIMEKO ARE WEARING WEDDING RINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMFG!!!! I´M FREAKING OUT SO MUCHHHHHHHH

I´m over the moon  and everything but…It´s been 6 years since the manga ended, am I getting some redemption now, what does THIS mean Shinohara huh???

Is this a message for the Bossuhime shippers? ( get it  “message”) or is it some of your mind games all over again?, can I finally  go to sleep and dream about the little Bossuhime kids out there making the world better, CAN I???? Huh, huhhh???

I can totally imagine my husbando all happy and proud of them, teaching the children about anime and Bossun and Himeko trying to stop him, all my dreams came true, damn you Shinohara, you open an old wound in my heart, I feel ecstatic,  so full of questions , and most important this post it´s from april 25th, APRIL! why am I seeing this just now?

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH is this the feeling of your ship getting canon?

It’s been 6 years and a little bit and I am still salty over how the SukeDan anime was managed.

Look, I didn’t even finish it?? Part of me is due to laziness, other part was due to college stuff... and the other part due to computer issues at the time. And my backlog increased and priorities changed over the years.

I dunno. I haven’t watched Astra either, but the little I have seen of screencaps and what not, I think they are doing a nice job there... sure, I ALSO have issues with Lerche (and even if it’s not same staff or director, I still remember what they did to Assassination Classroom, which had both its ups and downs... I have read that they also seemed to click “fast forward” in adaptation scheme)... but at least I can give it that they seem to be more competent than Tatsunoko.

Like, I loved the cast. The main trio’s seiyuu are all great, Yoshino, Sugita, Shiraishi... and then I extend it to the Student Council (like Seki, NojiKen, Kobayashi, Shimono), and then to their frequent clients/friends (Miyake Kenta, Orikasa Fumiko), the teachers (Nakata Jouji! Hiyama Nobuyuki!)! and so, and so. But, very deeply I started to think that... “maybe they are attempting to pull a Gintama here?”

It doesn’t help that, back in the day and still up to recent times, people stil insist that “it was a poor man’s Gintama” and they still remember more the crossover(s) than the actual series itself (unless you read the manga), and still compare Shinohara to Sorachi, and that ppl took too much into heart the “insults” the Yorozuya made to the Sket Dan.... when in reality, these two have an ongoing friendship ever since he left his assistant position in gntm (and even if the 2nd -both had their first at the same time?- manga crossover didn’t happen, Sorachi still gave him a sketch of it to commemorate the ending of the series in 2013... do you even follow Shinohara in Twitter??? and all the comments he made to Sorachi after Gintama ended??).

The quality in the anime varied quite a lot :/ (at least until the point I left it unfinished, and, look I don’t speak the per usual “this is a weekly anime, ofc the animation quality will differ because due schedule dates”), but the second season was, personally, very insulting?

We don’t know details behind the scenes, but I want to believe HanaKana’s agency put pressure to the production committee to promote her character (Saaya) into a more recurring role... heck, even giving her a character song that, in essence doesn’t make sense if you think about it??? Sure, Saaya was recurring in a bit, she had a crush on Bossun, some chapters in the manga attempt to deal with this fact when it becomes obvious (like her fan club, and the day she realized she had to let the crush go), but not in the same “recurrency” that the anime gave her, tho?? And yes, I am too much into “this was a thing thanks to her agency” because stuff like this happens (especially with female idol type-seiyuu’s agencies), but we don’t really put much thought about it because it’s all behind-the-scenes stuff no one mentions that much :)))

Saaya wasn’t awful, tbh, but I guess... and I SUPPOSE, this was partially why the BossunxHimeko fans (generalizing) didn’t like her that much... (and I did a back tracking trip in the Tumblr tags back in the day, btw).

You introduce the fact that Agata and Shinba graduate... you introduce Usami and Kiri, but we don’t see their respective developments (they did touch Kiri, but not Usami). Oh, and then there’s the whole “Switch On” stuff that “sure, this might get touched in the future...” but at the time the manga did, the anime was in its last legs. A friend had a theory that Shinohara did the arc around the time the anime was getting cancelled because there was still some push for the anime fans (also, the series wasn’t that far from ending according to Shinohara... it really wasn’t... for a year at best). It apparently did quite well in the WSJ polls, too.

That being said, I’m in the side that the anime was definitely cancelled. I wish I had numbers about ratings and such, but I still kinda want to point the direction the “second season” had. And I still hold up to this day that that’s why there isn’t a third season or whatever ever since 2012. The last push the series had was with the Bunkouban edition last year, and, let’s be honest, it was also more of a huge push for the Astra anime to be made, too :) which is also good on my book.

It’s a shame, as there’s good content from the stuff that didn’t made into anime... especially the final arc.

(And yes, I’m also a salty fan who didn’t like how the manga ended, but I have other reasons about it, I guess :)) )
